Liza: Hey. I'm glad you're home. I was starting to worry.
Bailey: You're not my mom, you know. You don't need to worry about me.
Liza: I know. I'm not your mother. I'm just here trying to be a friend -- to you. Can you please sit down and let's talk.
Bailey: It won't do any good. I'm not staying.
Bailey: I need time to think about my life, to think about Stuart, everything, and this is not the place to do it. I need time alone with my son to figure out what I'm going to do.
Liza: Ok, listen, if you need some time with Stuart, or if you're feeling like you need some space or you're feeling like you've been taken advantage of, all of these things can be worked out here. You don't have to do something as desperate as leave.
Colby: Bailey's leaving?
Bailey: I need to do this. I need to be with my son. I need to be a full-time mother to him to figure out if this is really what I want to do -- for good.
Colby: You're not gonna let her go, are you?
Zach: What are you up to?
[Zach catches Kat skulking around his house]
Amanda: This is not fair. I have had to sacrifice everything for you.
David: What can I do for you, Amanda?
Amanda: I don't know, but do something. Make it so that we never had sex. Make my husband come back to me. Make this whole nightmare be over with. Do something. Give me something.
David: Maybe there is something I can do for you, a way to make this all up to you.
Amanda: More promises to break? Another deal like last time? You know, I didn't fare so well on that one. You offered joint custody of Trevor, and I lost Jake, so no, thanks, I'm not really interested in any more of your offers.
David: No. You're gonna want to hear this one. Amanda, listen to me. I found something out.
[Trevor fussing over monitor]
Amanda: Trevor needs me.
Jake: Ever since I found out that she was carrying David's child, I have fought for her and the little boy. I love that kid. Where has it gotten me? What have I got to show for it? I keep going deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole. She agrees to move in with him, I fight for her. She agrees to have another child with him, I fight for her. She had sex with him. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. What am I -- what is it that I'm fighting for exactly?
Tad: Your future together.
Jake: Really? What future is that? Nothing's gonna change. Do you see that? Nothing. I can't keep fighting for the rest of my life for a losing battle. She had sex with him! She had sex with him! And you know what else is never gonna change? The fact that Trevor will always, always be David's son, always.
Tad: So what? What is that supposed to mean? Trevor's doomed? He's cursed? No matter what, he's gonna end up like his biological --
[J.R. quietly walks in and listens]
Jake: You know what? He doesn't need -- a child doesn't need two fathers.
Tad: Excuse me, J.R. has two fathers -- me and Adam.
Jake: Well, thank you for proving my point. Look how he turned out.
Tad: My son is one hell of a young man. Any problems he's ever had, that he's had to endure have been because of Adam, and that's exactly why you have to realize how hard you have to fight for Trevor. You are an act of God. You get it? Somebody has got to counterbalance David. For all you know, you're that kid's only hope.
Jake: Ahh --
Amanda, over monitor: Oh, God. David!
Amanda: Something's wrong. He's burning up. I went up there. He was as hot as he could be. Did the nanny say anything?
David: No, no. There was no fever earlier. This just happened.
Amanda: Oh. Well, what is it? What's wrong with him?
David: Well, the fever came on fast, and it's very high. It could cause seizures. I'll give him something to get the fever down, but I want to get him to the hospital. Ok? Just want to let the pediatrician take a look at him.
Amanda: What is it? There's something you're not telling me.
David: Amanda, I don't see any infection in him, in his eyes, his ears, or his throat, ok? So I have to consider that there might be some infection somewhere else that I can't see right now.
Amanda: Like what?
David: There could be a whole range of possibilities.
Amanda: You're scared. I can see it in your face. You're afraid of what it might be. Just tell me, David.
Amanda: Oh, my God.
David: All right, look, it's probably not that at all, ok? I just don't want to take any chances, ok? So just get his diaper bag. Amanda, he's gonna be all right, ok? Get his diaper bag. We have to go. Come on. Come here.
Jake: You know what? Amanda can be Trevor's salvation 'cause I'm out.
Tad: Listen, listen, hey, come on, look, I know you're upset. You got every reason to be, but you're just not thinking straight. You got to give it some time.
Jake: Time. Oh, time. Time. Does time fix anything? Does it really? Did it fix you and Krystal after David ate her up and spit her out? I'm just asking.
Tad: Hey, take it easy, ok? I'm not saying everything is gonna be sunshine and roses tomorrow. I have no idea what's gonna happen between you and Amanda any more than I had some idea what was supposed to happen between me and Krystal, but there is one thing I am sure of: We have a bond that nobody, nobody, not Hayward, not anybody can take away, and that's the love we have for Jenny, and that's exactly the kind of thing that's gonna keep you and Amanda together.
Jake: Well, Trevor's not my flesh and blood, so --
Tad: So what? That's a load, and you know it. Take it from me, you love that kid every bit as much as if he was your flesh and blood, and that's the only thing that counts. And by the way, I don't care how hurt you are. The fact is, you love Amanda just as much.
[Cell phone rings]
Amanda: Hey, please don't hang up. Something's wrong with Trevor. David and I are on the way to the hospital right now.
Jake: I'll be there.
J.R.: Hey, Jake.
Tad: Is everything all right?
Jake: Call you later.
Adam: My compliments to the chef. He does wonders with a can opener.
Scott: You won't be making many friends in here with insults like that.
Adam: I'm not gonna be in here long enough to care if I make any friends. And neither will you, by the way.
Scott: You really think Liza's that good?
Adam: Well, when I was married to her, I learned not to underestimate that woman. Your case will be, well, that'll be kind of difficult for her, but she'll pull it off. But me, in my state of mind, my mind full of drugs and the whole thing was an accident, she'll pull me out of here, too. It's Annie I'm worried about.
Scott: The recorded confession.
Adam: Her accessory charges are gonna be hard to dodge.
Scott: Hmm. Well, I'm sure you and Liza will eventually find a way.
Adam: This has to be a family effort.
Scott: Um, no. If I get out of here, I won't be around to help.
Adam: What are you talking about?
Scott: Uncle Adam, before all this blew up, I was getting ready to leave town. I'm going back to Chicago. I have to start my life over again. And if I get out of here -- no, when I get out of here, I still intend to do that.
Bailey: This isn't a spur-of-the-moment thing. I've been thinking about this for a while trying to figure out if it's the right thing to do or not, and then after the way you treated Damon, I knew that I needed to do this right now.
Liza: Bailey, Damon is a walking heartache.
Bailey: And that's my lesson to learn.
Colby: Do you realize how ungrateful and selfish --
Liza: Colby. Colby.
Bailey: I just need to do this. I need to figure out if this is something I want to do.
Liza: All right, all right, look, if this is what you need to do, then you need to do it, but I just want to make sure that you and Stuart are safe, so I'd like to make you a deal. You stay here with Stuart. And Colby and I will move out.
Zach: Why are you spying on me? Who sent you? Your old friend Aidan?
Kat: I wasn't spying, ok? I came all the way here to give you something, and you slammed the door in my face. I was just curious.
Zach: About what? You don't know me. You wouldn't know how I'd react to something.
Kat: I may not know you, but I did know Kendall. She and Aidan stayed at the boarding house for weeks. Obviously he didn't call her by that name, but like I so awkwardly told you before, I figured out who she was from the news. And then they up and disappeared in the middle of the night, and she left her wedding ring. I thought you might want it. I mean, what the hell was I supposed to do with it? If it means anything, I think she's really sorry for what she's done to you.
Zach: You think she's sorry? You must have really gotten to know her well. You know what she's thinking.
Kat: I am not saying. I just -- I saw the change in her while she was there. Look, when Aidan showed up out of the blue with her, he wanted me to think that the two of them were running from her husband, not from the law, that they were having this big affair. But that's not how she was acting, and I realized he wasn't telling me everything. But the weird thins is that cover story started to seem more and more real to them. You could tell by the way they were acting. I asked her about her husband one day, and she looked pretty wrecked when she talked about you. Said that you'd probably never understand, but that's just who she was. A woman unable to commit, a hot mess of insecurity. She did say that she missed her kids, and she swore that she'd find her way back to them but that she knew that it was over with you. Said that she'd hurt you for the last time. I realize this is a very awkward and terrible way to find out about all of this. Look, some guy named Tad came to the boarding house trying to track her down. Maybe you could find her and talk some sense into her.
Zach: What makes you think I want to find her?
Kat: It's obvious that you still care.
Zach: Get out.
Kat: I really am sorry. I --
Kat: All right.
Adam: You cannot go to Chicago. I need you here.
Scott: I think it's best for everyone if I leave town.
Adam: Fine. You're angry with me, and for good reason. I understand. I took your father from you.
Scott: Just stop, ok? Believe it or not, I am at peace with that. I know how much you suffered because of it.
Adam: All right. Then there are other reasons you're angry with me. I never should have accused Annie of sleeping with you. I was wrong to believe you could betray me like that. I'm sorry. Now, will you please stay?
Scott: This isn't about me fishing for an apology.
Adam: No, I suppose not. You, uh, still have feelings for Annie, don't you?
Tad: You. This is something else. Christmas came early this year. Ginger snaps. Gotta love 'em.
Tad: Ah, you are so good to me.
J.R.: You know, I was actually just looking for an excuse to swing by, Thanksgiving and all.
Tad: Come on, you don't need an excuse. You know that.
J.R.: I heard what Jake said about me. I heard what you said back to him.
Tad: I meant every word. Some people look at you occasionally and see all the problems, things you've been through. I see the promise. I'm proud of you. I always have been, I always will be. You are a survivor.
J.R.: It's nice to feel welcomed, instead of where people are waiting for me to screw up. It's hard to walk away from that.
Tad: You did. You did. I've always considered you a Martin anyway. You know that.
J.R.: [Chuckles] It's gonna be a tough Christmas this year.
Tad: Stuart? Yeah, I know. I was thinking the same thing at dinner tonight. Can't even imagine a Christmas season without him.
J.R.: It's not even gonna be the same. I mean, who's gonna pick out our trees?
[Knock on door]
Tad: There he is. How are you, handsome?
Marissa: Hey, happy Thanksgiving, Tad.
Tad: Happy Thanksgiving, gorgeous. How are you? Come here. Stand right there. Stand in this chair. Here you go. So, what did you have for dinner?
Little Adam: We had turkey.
Tad: You had turkey? So did we. What a coincidence, huh?
Marissa: You ready to go home?
J.R.: Yeah, yeah.
Tad: No, no. I got an idea. Why don't you stick around? Can you do that? Let's make a night of it. As a matter of fact, come here. Sit down for a second.
J.R.: What are you talking about?
Tad: Just a sec. Hey, uh, Krystal, could you come down, sweetheart? You, too, Ma!
Opal: Oh, hey there! What's all the hollering about? Happy Thanksgiving.
Krystal: What is going on?
Tad: I want you to do me a favor. I want you to get the girls dressed. I mean, really, just bundled up. We're gonna go out. It's the first day of the holiday season. I think we should do it right. Get ourselves a tree.
Opal: A tree? Ok.
Tad: As a family.
Krystal: Well, sure, all right. I like that.
Opal: You want the --
Colby: You're joking? After the way she treated you, you're just gonna give up your home for her?
Liza: Uh, do you mind giving us a moment, please?
Bailey: Yeah, sure.
Colby: How could you do this? I mean, what if she decides she can't live without Stuart? What if she decides she wants to go back to where she came from, and she takes Stuart with her?
Liza: I don't have a choice, Colby. I -- she has rights, and she could decide to stop this adoption tonight if she wants to. At least she's thinking about it. Maybe she's gonna realize that she's too young. Maybe she's gonna realize that she just can't handle this.
Colby: Yeah, but giving her your home --
Liza: At least I can keep close tabs on her this way, and I'm gonna find -- Jake. I'm gonna ask him if we can stay at his place, because he's in the building, and we can be close by. This is my only shot, Colby, so I need you to trust me and stop antagonizing her.
Amanda: Can you see anything?
David: No. I need a pediatric cap for this. Where the hell is that pediatrician?
Amanda: Well, you can't tell anything, though?
David: I don't see anything new to worry me. The medicine should keep the fever down for a while, but we need more information. So look, just stay with him for a while, ok? I'm gonna go try and find the doctor.
Amanda: Ok. Hey there, little guy. I love you so much. We're gonna make you better, ok? 'Cause Mommy's here, all right?
Jake: What's going on?
Amanda: He has a really high fever. We're waiting for the pediatrician. Oh, my God, he's so hot. Oh --
Jake: Look, I, uh, I'm going to stay here as long as necessary.
[Amanda and Jake hug as David comes back in]
Scott: This is not the time or the place to be talking about my feelings. Aw, hell, maybe it's the perfect time. But that doesn't change my mind about leaving. The fact is --
Adam: The fact is that we're in this awful situation because of me. I invited you into my house to look after Annie. I practically pushed the two of you together. And then when you found out what I had done to your father, the secret that you and Annie kept, held onto for so long, of course, you were -- you were bonded.
Scott: That doesn't change my mind, what I need to do next.
Adam: No one can blame you for being confused about your feelings. But my family is disintegrating before my eyes, but I can get it back, but I need your help. Now, will you? Will you stay?
[Zach remembers seeing Kendall and Aidan making love and imagines that she turned around and smiled at him, then he throws a glass against the brick wall]
Bailey: Thank you so much. I'll definitely take care of the place.
Liza: Ok, well, I'm gonna start packing up my stuff.
Bailey: Oh, it's getting late. You don't have to do that. Tomorrow -- tomorrow's fine.
Liza: Yeah, I don't want to stretch this out. We'll go stay at a hotel if we need to.
Colby: Yeah. I can go back and stay at Corrina's until you get your chance to talk to Jake.
Colby: I'll go get our bags, you know, start packing.
Liza: Huh. Can I? Oh, so big. Oh, my God, look at you. Hi. Hi. Oh, baby, I know, I got to go. Mommy's got to go. I know. You're getting so big, aren't you? You are. Start walking soon, then we're all in trouble, huh? Listen to me, you be a good boy for Bailey, ok? Can you do that? Yeah? And you have sweet dreams every night? Yeah? I'll dream about you -- so much. Huh. Oh, God, I miss you so much already. Ok, all right, be good. Here you go. Thank you.
Liza: Mm-hmm. Here's his binky.
Bailey: Ok. Come here.
[Cell phone rings]
Liza: Um -- yeah. Hello.
Zach: Hey, it's me. I need to talk to you now in person.
Liza: Why? What's wrong?
Zach: Just get over here.
Colby: So do you want me to start packing your things?
Liza: Uh, no. Why don't you head on over to Corrina's, all right? Do you mind if I come back later and pick up my stuff? I've got an emergency.
Bailey: No, that's fine.
Colby: What's wrong?
Liza: It's business. I'll call. Ok.
David: Dr. Evans is right behind me.
David: I haven't been able to find any infection. Obviously we need to get the right medicine in him --
Jake: I get it.
Pediatrician: Doctors -- Mrs. Martin. David's filled me in on things. It's a little crowded in here. How about you give me a minute with the little guy?
David: Sure, sure. I was just trying to keep you in the loop.
Jake: Not now.
David: You're right. Trevor could be very sick. And I understand how much he means to you. I just thought you should know. Actually, there's something I want you both to know.
Jake: You know, you have no idea how I feel about that little boy in there, but I have an idea how you feel. He's nothing but a tool in your kit, a wedge to drive between Amanda and me, and past that, you don't really care about him at all.
David: You have no idea how out of line you are right now.
Jake: You know what I think is out of line, David? The way you use that baby. It's all a game to you, isn't it? We're up to the part of the game where you pretend to be a hero in Amanda's eyes, pretending that everything that's important to me, that's at stake for me is actually important to you. And the truth of the matter is, I am nothing more than an annoyance. I'm an annoyance to you. Everything you've done up to now has kind of failed. I don't know, maybe you underestimated me. I'm not sure. And you want to have another child with my wife, because one child wasn't enough to pull her away from me, isn't that right?
David: You don't think I love Trevor?
Jake: I don't think you love anybody buy yourself, David. No, I don't think you love Trevor. I don't even think you deserve Trevor. How's that?
[David pushes Jake against a wall]
Amanda: Stop it.
David: Self-righteous son of a bitch.
Amanda: Stop it.
David: Let me tell you what you don't deserve. You don't deserve Amanda. She took me up on an offer to give you access to Trevor, and how do you repay her? By kicking her to the curb. Just like a Martin, ok?
Jake: No. Someday, your son's gonna grow up, he's gonna be a man. What's he gonna say to himself, oh, my father, what a wonderful guy?
Amanda: Stop it! Trevor is -- you're picking a fight with each other! Stop!
Jake: You know what? Fine. I shouldn't have come here.
David: You got that right. So why don't you get the hell out of here, Martin? Trevor isn't your son, and he never will be.
Tad: Ok, careful.
Opal: Ooh, ooh, it's so cold!
Tad: Guys, guys, take off your jackets. Go take off your jackets, and we'll get the show on the road.
Opal: Ok, I'll take you.
Krystal: Ok, I tell you what, I'll go get the ornaments.
Opal: Oh, good idea.
Marissa: I'll put the kettle on for hot chocolate.
Opal: All right. I think I'm gonna go get myself something a little stronger. I need to warm up these bones. Come with me.
J.R.: I think this poor thing's gonna need some help.
Tad: Yeah. Well, I guess that's what we get for giving Little A the choice, but you know what? He just might be channeling Stuart. Dress this up, give it a little love, it'll be just fine.
Tad: You ok?
Tad: You sure?
J.R.: It's cold out -- it's cold out there. Ahem.
Marissa: The hot water's on. So, you were pretty quiet out there.
J.R.: Guess I was thinking about Uncle Stuart.
Marissa: Are you sure there isn't someone else on your mind as well?
J.R.: What do you mean?
Marissa: I mean your father. Now this time of the year, I figured you might be thinking about him.
Krystal: All right, here we go. There's more up there, but I just thought --
Tad: Oh, I'm sure. Ok, guys, ornaments and lights. Let's get the show on the road. Ha ha!
[Liza rings doorbell]
Liza: God, you don't look so good.
Zach: I -- I feel fine. Funny. I'm a new man. Come on in.
Zach: Yeah, and I'm gonna keep on drinking. Can I get you one?
Liza: No, no. I got my own drama going on, so, what is it? I'm here.
Zach: It's something that you definitely can't handle very easy. It's a divorce.
Liza: Well, the courthouse is closed right now, so why don't we talk about this in the morning?
Zach: I say we talk about it now, so we can file in the morning.
Liza: All right, let's say that you are actually serious about this. How exactly do you expect me to serve Kendall?
Zach: That's why you make the big bucks. Figure it out.
Liza: Ah. Ok, look, Zach, I get that you're angry here, and I get why you are. You have every right to be. Only you're a little drunk. You could feel a little different in the morning.
Zach: Don't worry how I feel. How I feel now, how I feel later. What I want you to worry about is something completely different. See, I'm gonna take care of all of Kendall's stuff, and when that's gone, I'm gonna start over. The only thing I need is help with the legal aspect of some things, so either you're gonna help me or somebody else will.
Liza: Mm-hmm. Have you talked to Kendall about this?
Zach: I don't need to talk to Kendall about this.
Liza: Yes, you do need to talk to Kendall about this. Come on, Zach. Please, you don't know that that's what she wants. Look, maybe being on the run has screwed up her head a little bit, being on trial for murder, but it doesn't mean that she wants to get a divorce. I mean, maybe she's sorry, and maybe she wants to work things out with you. I don't think you need to go to such extreme case as a divorce. Besides, you don't know that that's what she wants. And look, you need to have proof that she actually had --
Zach: Proof? You want proof? There's proof.
[Zach holds up Kendall's wedding ring]
Adam: You'll be all alone in Chicago. No family, nobody to keep you company. Just give me a couple of months. Help me. Help me heal what I've done to us all.
Scott: Ok. I'll stay for a little while. But I am moving back into the gatehouse.
Adam: Your father would approve.
J.R.: So I was thinking about what you said earlier, about Adam. Yeah, he will be in jail while we're having holiday fun, but you're wrong. I don't miss him.
J.R.: I miss what could have been, but I guess it's me just chasing fantasies.
[As holiday music plays, Marissa kisses J.R. who continues coughing]
Tad: Look at them. Look. They grow up so fast. We never have enough family time at this age. You know, it disappears so quickly.
Krystal: Ah, it sure does. Huh.
Tad: But we'll make sure that we're here for them.
Krystal: What kind of talk is that, Tad? What's going on in that head of yours?
Tad: Well, I'm just making sure, I guess. Here. Back to work. Come on, woman.
Krystal: Crack the whip. You got it.
Tad: Ha ha!
Amanda: When do you think?
David: Soon. Just be patient. Listen, I'm sorry about what happened with Jake. I guess he's gotten really good at pushing my buttons. I shouldn't let him get to me.
Amanda: I don't care about that. I just want my baby to be all right.
Pediatrician: It's an ear infection. Tough to spot at first in that tiny, little ear canal. We'll start him on some antibiotics, and he should be feeling better by tomorrow.
Amanda: Oh, my God. Thank God.
David: The man with the tools. Thank you, Doctor.
Amanda: Oh, my God. Oh, hi, baby. Thank God you're ok. Oh. I love you so much. Yes, I do. I love you so much.
Aidan: Hey, how'd it go?
Kat: It was a little uncomfortable. Kendall's husband kicked me out, and then he caught me watching him through the window. Don't worry. I covered.
Aidan: And how did he react?
Kat: Just how you'd think he'd react. He was really upset. I think he's packed up all of Kendall's stuff. He's not gonna let her hurt him again.
Aidan: How can you be so sure about that?
Kat: The look in his eye. Hey, are you all right? You doing ok?
Aidan: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.
Aidan: I just, um, I didn't expect I'd have to chloroform Kendall. You know, that wasn't part of the original plan.
Kat: How is this all going to end?
Aidan: The same way it always was -- Zach losing and Kendall falling in love with me.
Tad: Ok, ok, looking good, guys. We have one more thing to do --
Opal: That's right.
Tad: Before we turn on the lights and fire this puppy up, and that is to put the angel on top, and everybody is going to gather around and have a hand in doing it.
Opal: Oh, I like this.
Tad: Are we ready? On 3.
All: 1, 2, 3.
Tad: There you go.
Krystal: -- Still up there?
Tad: All right.
Tad: Good job!
Marissa: Hey, are you ok?
J.R.: Yeah, I was just -- it was cold in the tree lot. I'll be ok in a minute.
[J.R. coughs up blood]
Amanda: Hey. It's, uh, just an ear infection. He's gonna be ok.
Jake: That's great. That's good. Um, can you do me a favor? If this happens again -- don't call me.
Jake: I can't, uh, I can't do this anymore. Tearing my heart out over you, and you just don't seem to really honor this, you know. I mean, look at me, I'm down here worried about another man's child, and not just any man. David Hayward. So at the end of the day I'm just a guy who happens to be married to the mom of that little boy. He might not know this, but I went through all of this before with Colby, and now I'm doing it with Trevor, and I can't. I can't do it.
Amanda: Are you just doing this to punish me?
Jake: It's not just what you did with David. I mean, it's crushed me. I don't know exactly how I'm gonna deal with that. No. It's -- I just can't see myself raising that man's offspring. I love you. I mean, I am very much in love with you. I just -- I can't -- I can't raise that man's children. I can't do it. I can't.
[Trevor squeals as David holds and kisses him]
Kat: Kendall knows she's been cleared. I mean, she knows she can go home. How are you gonna keep her from doing that?
Aidan: Well, that part of the plan hasn't changed.
Kat: You think she's gonna fall in love with you now? I mean, it was understandable when you guys were holed up, hiding away from the rest of the world, but once you chloroform a girl, it's, ah --
Aidan: Look, Kendall is used to extremes, all right? And the last time Zach was missing, it was just Kendall and I against the rest of the world. If I can convince her that it's just me and her now, and I spend more time with her, then she'll fall in love with me. Everything's gonna work out fine.
Kat: Ok, but what if it doesn't work out? What if she doesn't want to stay with you? I mean, how are you gonna stop her? Will you kill her?
Aidan: Look, I'm late, all right? I got a lot more else to do.
Liza: And how did you get this?
Zach: It doesn't matter how I got it. The important thing is that she doesn't have it anymore, because she doesn't want it.
Liza: Ok, Zach, listen, you've had enough.
Zach: I want more than enough.
Liza: Come on, Zach, just don't do this to yourself. You're better than this. Really.
[Zach grabs Liza's head and starts kissing her]
