[Kendall and Zach communicate in an online chat room]

Zach's voice: "I stood upon the hills, when's heaven's wide arch was glorious with the sun's returning march. And woods were brightened and soft gales went forth to kiss the sun-clad vales." Good morning, beautiful. If I can't wake you with a kiss, I'll wake you with a poem.

Trent: Hey, none of that. I'm glad you could make it, even if your hair couldn't.

J.R.: Ha ha.

Trent: Hey, everybody, this is J.R. He's a newbie, so be gentle.

J.R.: This is my wife Marissa.

Trent: Wife?!

J.R.: Yeah. We tied the knot.

Trent: Props, man.

J.R.: Thanks.

Trent: And to the beautiful bride.

Marissa: Thank you.

Trent: Helluva honeymoon.

J.R.: Yeah, well, you know, there's food, people, music. Feels like a reception to me.

Trent: [Chuckles]

J.R.: What better place to share our first dance?

Marissa: [Giggles]

Singer: ...You touch me there with your whisper you make me feel so...

[Running footsteps]

Brot: Hey.

Natalia: Don't let me stop you.

Brot: Why? I'm just enjoying the view. Ha ha ha.

Natalia: Ha ha ha. Better idea -- skip the view and get in shape for the academy tests.

Brot: Get in shape? Come on, girl. This body is a ma -- aah, ow, ooh, I got a cramp. Ooh.

Jake: Hey.

Amanda: Hey.

Jake: Good morning.

Amanda: Good morning. Oh. I wish we could wake up like this every morning. Well, except in a bed. [Giggles]

Jake: Yeah. Why? You wanna go again? Hmm? What? What?

Amanda: The only way that we could wake up like this and be together is if I gave David what he wants. What am I gonna do?

Liza: So, what is this proposition that you wanna discuss with me?

David: It's a legal matter.

Liza: Well, you know there's plenty of other lawyers that you can talk to, ones that you haven't held a gun to their head.

David: Yes, that is true, but you're the only one I know exactly how far I can trust. And you have the experience I need on this, both professionally and personally.

Liza: Will I regret asking you what that might be?

David: It's a custody issue.

Liza: Custody? You already have full custody of Trevor.

David: Yes, I do, but that's gonna change. Congratulate me. I'm about to be a father again.

Trent: As self-appointed best man, I'd like to say a few words. Marriage is gonna change a lot of things. No more flirting with the oncology nurses. No more crazy-ass chemo parties. Time to settle down with the missus and live the sweet life. To the lucky man.

J.R.: Thank you. I am a lucky man. If Marissa hadn't come into my life when she did -- she's given me the strength and the courage to get through this. And the hope that every day is just a little bit better. And that together, we can get to the other side. She's given me a second chance at love. You've given me a second chance at life.

Dr. Kahn: I don't know how our session can possibly top this celebration, but I'm afraid we're gonna have to get started. Congratulations.

Marissa: Thank you.

J.R.: Thank you. See you.

Marissa: All right.

Trent: Chandler, get that cue ball head over here.

J.R.: [Laughs]

Dr. Kahn: I can see you've already met at least some of the group members. We're glad to have you. There are no real rules. You can listen, or share. Say as much or as little as you want. No pressure. Just support.

J.R.: Well, I am glad to be here. When I was first diagnosed, I saw it as a death sentence. But I have a son. And I have a new wife. And every time I look at a ticking clock, Little Adam -- my son -- and Marissa remind me just how much I want to stick around. And no matter how much I have or how hard I try, there are days that I just can't pretend that I'm not scared.

Woman: I'm scared, too.

Amanda: Jake, how am I supposed to decide? I want us to have a normal life, to be a real married couple that wakes up and goes to bed together. But we could finally have that and joint custody of Trevor. You know, family that we dreamed about. I don't think it'd be so terrible to give Trevor a little brother or sister. It's just -- David. Carrying a baby for him. I mean, everything you said is right. I would be trading my womb for freedom, another baby for our marriage. Even though it seems like he's changed, I mean, David is still David, which means everything he does is not what it seems. You know, I mean, does he even want another baby or is this just his move to -- to get between us? And would he keep his word or is -- is he setting me up?

Jake: Why don't you eat something?

Amanda: I -- I know I can't trust David, but I want to. I want to live with you. I want joint custody of Trevor. And if carrying a baby for David could give me all that, then how could I say no? But I know it's David, so how can I say yes? [Sigh] But if I say no, then I will be saying no to everything that I want. You gonna say anything?

Jake: Your coffee's getting cold.

Amanda: Ok, so, that's it. So you have nothing to contribute. Just -- just a big decision that could change our whole lives. I want to know what you think, Jake.

Jake: I don't think that's true. I think you want me to make the decision.

[David kissing Trevor]

Woman: Say bye-bye.

Liza: You really love him.

David: Beyond measure. And I can't wait to give him a little brother or sister.

Liza: I can't believe you actually asked Amanda that. That you asked her to -- to give you another child and that you think Jake is just supposed to be ok with that.

David: The baby will be conceived through artificial insemination, Liza. Not the old-fashioned way. Not by a night in the sack. So, Jake can holler all he wants, but in the end he's gonna get what he wants. His wife back. If Amanda accepts my offer.

Liza: It's so very generous of you to actually allow a husband and wife to actually live together.

David: Jake and Amanda brought this situation upon themselves by keeping me away from my son. I'm just trying to offer a solution where everyone gets what they want. I get another child, Jake gets Amanda, Amanda gets shared custody.

Liza: You're a regular Santa Claus. So, what's my part in all of this?

David: Obviously, I'm gonna need a contract drawn up before we can proceed.

Liza: What happened to your other lawyer, that oily one?

David: Amanda trusts you.

Liza: So, you want me to work her. You want me to convince her that playing a baby factory for her freedom is a good idea.

David: Come on, Liza. We both know Amanda could use an outside voice. A voice of reason. Someone who can help her see just how beneficial this is for everyone. And this will be extremely beneficial for you, not to mention Stuart's college fund.

Liza: So, all I have to do is counsel and draw up a contract? Nothing underhanded, no tricks?

David: No. Everything. Completely aboveboard.

Liza: I'll do it under one condition.

David: Ok, and what is that condition?

Liza: That you tell me everything. Come on, there's always an endgame, and you only play to win, so what is it? All right, then, let me guess. You're gonna get Amanda to give you another child and then somehow you're gonna shred the contract so that you can get custody of both children.

Natalia: Tell me -- how can you run in 120-degree weather in Iraq, and you can't even get through Pine Valley without collapsing?

Brot: I got a cramp, all right?

Natalia: From lack of hy-dra-tion.

Brot: Yeah, yeah, I got it. I gotta stretch. So, what's all this? You camping out or you working?

Natalia: Personal stuff.

Brot: Oh, yeah?

Natalia: Yeah.

Brot: So, what's up with this map?

Natalia: I've been into them since I was a kid. I don't know. We moved a lot.

Brot: Yeah, Frankie told me that Jesse was always looking over his shoulder for 20 years. That's a lot of new towns.

Natalia: Yeah, I know who you telling. I don't know -- this -- this one time, I remember, my dad gave me this map, so I could see where we went and where we were going. After that, I just got hooked. I don't know, I guess -- I guess it's because I felt like I had some sort of control, you know? After that, I always kept a map around.

Brot: So, are you planning a move?

Natalia: No.

Brot: A trip?

Natalia: No.

Brot: What are you doing?

Natalia: I'm trying to track Kendall Slater and Aidan Devane.

Kendall's voice: "My happiness bites the plum of your mouth." Amazing.

Zach's voice: Neruda.

Kendall's voice: I wish I knew poetry the way you do. Everything I know starts with "There once was a man from Nantucket."

Zach's voice: [Laughs] You don't have to know poetry. You can just make it up.

Kendall's voice: Roses are red, violets are blue, I wish this was over, because I miss you?

Zach's voice: You can practice.

Kendall's voice: I do. Miss you. So much. I thought this would help, and it has, but it just makes me want to be with you more.

Zach's voice: I'd give anything to have you in my arms, lost in those diamond eyes.

[Knocking on door]

Zach's voice: Someone's here. I gotta go.

Kendall's voice: Me, too.

Jake: I know that you love me. I know that. I also know how much Trevor means to you, and I -- I know that in your heart, you really want the three of us to be together. I -- I know that, and, you know, definitely separate from David. And I get that this thing is, you know, that this decision is tempting, you know, if it definitely promises to get us together, to be -- to be together.

Amanda: So, it's worth it. I should do it?

Jake: The problem is that David is -- he's unbalanced, and, you know --

Amanda: So, we shouldn't do it. Right. I know. It's my decision.

Jake: Look -- I'm here. Right? I'm here. I'm here to fight for you, with you. But the decision has to be yours.

Liza: I'm not gonna work with you until you tell me what you're planning.

David: Liza, I'm not planning anything. I just want another child. Amanda gave me a beautiful, little boy. Why would I want to go anywhere else?

Liza: You blackmailed her into coming here to live with you so that you can play family, and so you can stick it to Jake. And nothing will make you happier, aside from having another child, than to blow Jake's life to hell. And I'm not gonna help you pull Amanda and Jake apart any more than you already have.

David: I'm sorry you're so paranoid.

Liza: I'm sorry, but I know you.

David: You know, it's sad. Your son's biological mother comes waltzing into your life and now you're so afraid that you're gonna lose your child, it's colored your ability to think rationally. I warned you. I told you, "Do not open the door to that girl."

Liza: I'm not gonna discuss my son or the biological mother with you, and I'm certainly not going to be on your payroll while you screw over Amanda again.

David: All right, what is it gonna take for you to believe that all I want to do is honor the bargain?

Marissa: What bargain?

Jesse: To make this official, I just need to ask you if you have any idea where Kendall might be.

Zach: Officially? For the record? No.

Jesse: Well, off the record. Were you able to make contact with her on that website?

Zach: [Sigh] We were up all night.

Jesse: I was about to say, you kind of look like the living dead.

Kendall: I feel so alive, so hopeful. I didn't want to sign off.

Aidan: Kendall, I know it's hard, but you have to think about conserving the battery.

Kendall: The things that Zach wrote last night. The words, the images. It was so beautiful. So intense.

Zach: But words are not enough. I need more than this. I want to see Kendall. This isn't enough.

Jesse: Hey, I know how you feel. I kept a picture of my wife with me all those years I was away. High school picture. Kept me hopeful.

Kendall: All those times I was angry at Zach. Yelling at him, saying that I was tired of being locked up in that room. Tired of living a half life. I wish I was locked in that room right now. Home with Zach and my boys.

Zach: I'd give anything to go up to that secret room, open the door, and there's Kendall just waiting to see her kids instead of being somewhere else in some abandoned building or something.

Jesse: You know where she is?

Trent: I got diagnosed. Next thing I knew, we were married. Cynthia proposed to me. She wanted to show she was committed. In for the long haul. She drove me to chemo. Made me laugh when I felt like hell. Promised the next day would be better. And it was. For a while. But something happened -- "I" happened. Cindy started talking babies. My oncologist advised us to freeze my sperm, just in case. I refused. Couldn't even give my wife a good explanation. I just denied her a child. I didn't stop there. I started staying out late. I drank, when I could stomach alcohol. Picked fights. Made her life hell. I woke up one night. She was standing by the window crying. The next morning, she was gone. Not because of my cancer. Because of me. For a long time, I didn't understand, but I get it now. I pushed my wife away, because I didn't want her to watch me die.

Marissa: You're negotiating another baby with Amanda? And you're drawing up the contract?

Liza: I'm not playing lawyer on this. You find somebody else.

Marissa: Why are you doing this?

David: I want a family.

Marissa: You have a family.

David: I know this is difficult for you to understand.

Marissa: No. No. Actually, it's not, at all. No. You're angry because I married J.R., so you're going to order up another kid, one that you can control. One that can't talk back or think for themselves. That's when you love them the most, isn't it? Do you have any idea how sick it is that you're using babies to fill some void in your life?

David: Marissa, I love you. And I love Trevor. And I will love this other child, if it happens. But that is a hell of a lot more than can be said for the Chandlers. Their children are nothing but property, pawns. And I would hate to see you have to learn that the hard way. Now, if you ever do have a Chandler baby, if Junior Junior does come into your life, you're gonna see firsthand how the Chandlers devour their young.

Marissa: Shut up! Just shut up.

David: Marissa, wait.

[Door slams]

Amanda: Come here. Oh, I missed you so much. Yes, I did. Did you have sweet dreams, my love? Did you have sweet dreams? [Gasp] Oh, you're so handsome. Yes, you are. And guess what? We have some big plans for you, don't we, big guy? Yes. Me, you, and your Daddy Jake, we're gonna go to the petting zoo. [Gasp] Yes! I know how much you love those stinky, little goats. Mm-hmm. Your daddy does, too.

Jake: I, uh, think I'll pass on the goats.

Amanda: You love goats.

Jake: I do. I love them. I love how stinky they are. But I'm thinking maybe it'd be nice for you two to have a little alone time, you know? I know he's not much of a talker, but perhaps if you're alone with him, it'll help you -- make your decision.

Zach: No, I don't know. I don't know where she is exactly.

Jesse: Well, the abandoned building. That's a good start. The more you tell me, the better chance I have of stopping a search of a particular area.

Zach: A church, I think. Deserted. Farm country.

Kendall: I might have hinted that we were in a church.

Aidan: You have to be careful. Chat rooms aren't as private as you think.

Kendall: I know. That was all I said. I just said, "What could be safer than a house of God?"

Zach: I know she's safe. That's all I care about.

Jesse: Abandoned church. Farm country.

Zach: Yeah. Well, you know where she is? No.

Jesse: I had a hunch.

Brot: So, you're working the Slater case while on desk duty.

Natalia: I'm just keeping my ears open. You know, a chopper spotted Aidan Devane's getaway car.

Brot: Ah. Alleged getaway car.

Natalia: At Wildwind. Dad sent some cops to follow up, but for some reason, there was a delay. Track got ice cold after that.

Brot: Hmm. And you think you know where Kendall and Aidan went.

Natalia: It's just a guess. But check this out. Look, over here, on the edge of town, this is where Wildwind is, right?

Brot: Right.

Natalia: Here, it's nothing but country. Open country. That's a straight shot.

Brot: Ok.

Natalia: If I were them, I mean, especially with Aidan wounded, I would go right here. This is where I would look.

Brot: So, now you're an expert on this.

Natalia: Well, I lived it. I was too young to really get it, but -- back when I was young, um, when the trail got too hot for my dad, I mean, he and my mom would just pack me up. We'd hit the road, and we wouldn't stop until we found a place just like this. That's why I don't get it. I do not get why he's not concentrating on this area. I mean, everything he's taught me screams that this is the place to look.

Brot: And what did he say when you told him about this?

Natalia: Come on. You know. A typical "I'm the chief, Natalia. I know what I'm doing."

Brot: I mean, Natalia, he is the chief, and he does know what he's doing. You might want to trust him on this one.

Natalia: Yeah.

Brot: What are you doing?

Natalia: I don't know. Maybe I should go for a drive or something. Who knows? Maybe I'll find a couple criminals.

Jesse: 75 miles north. Straight drive from Wildwind. That's where that abandoned church is. I figure that's where Aidan took Kendall. So, I sent my team in the opposite direction before they could dig too far. If they're there, they're safe for now. If they stay there too long, this close to home? They'll be found.

Liza: Well, tell me you talked to Amanda. Tell me you talked her out of this. She's not gonna have another baby for David.

Jake: It's up to her, Liza.

Liza: Wha -- wait a minute. What -- how can she even consider this? What is there to consider? You say no. It's easy. You say, "no.

Jake: There's a lot of things to consider. Shared custody. Getting your life back. Allowed to be with your husband under the same roof. It's not that easy for her just to say no.

Liza: Uh, can you tell her to wake up? Put the brakes on this. You know that David is going to take her child, and she's gonna be left with nothing.

Jake: It's possible.

Liza: So, stop her.

Jake: I tried. I tried, Liza. I flipped out. I stormed off. And then I realized to myself, you know, acting the ass is not gonna help her decision-making process any easier, so --

Liza: So, what? You're just gonna lose Trevor.

Jake: I'm not gonna lose Trevor. We're not gonna lose Trevor --

Liza: Uh-huh. What, you just -- you just gave up a child that you loved like your own, just like that.

Jake: You know what? I think this conversation just sort of switched somehow to your life and your problems. Your -- your baby and the birth mother. Is -- is there a problem there?

Liza: Oh, Jake. I don't think having her come live with me was a very good idea.

Jake: Ya think? And how is that going for you?

Liza: I don't know. I don't know, but I'm absolutely terrified that I might lose Stuart. And I don't think I could survive that. And if Amanda goes along with David's "deal," she's gonna end up losing both of her children.

Jake: I know. It's very risky.

Liza: Listen, I just -- I would not trust David's agenda.

Jake: Can you do me a favor? You want to be a good friend? This contract between Amanda and David. Is there a way that you can make it iron-clad, that, you know, she won't be taken advantage of or whatever? I just -- I need to protect my wife with everything I got.

Tad: Oh! Just when I thought this morning couldn't get any more beautiful. [Speaking baby talk] How is the most adorable [Kiss] mother-son duo in all of Pine Valley, huh? Something I said?

Amanda: [Crying] I'm sorry.

Tad: So am I. I mean, whatever it is can't -- can't be that bad if -- I can go out and come in again.

Amanda: It's horrible. I have to make the hugest decision, and it doesn't matter what I choose. I could be making the biggest mistake of my life.

Kendall: "Come to me in my dreams, and then; by day I should be well again; for the night will more than pay; the hopeless longing of the day." Isn't that beautiful?

Aidan: It's beautiful.

Kendall: It's funny. Zach spoke more to me last night than he's said to me the entire time we've known each other. But to know what he's thinking and -- and what he's feeling and what's really going on in his heart. I feel so close to him. Are you ok?

Aidan: [Sigh] Yeah. Yeah, I'm ok. You must be hungry, so -- I'm gonna go get us some food.

Kendall: Ok. How's your arm?

Aidan: Yeah. It's fine. All right, but you should -- you should lie down. I don't know how long we're gonna have to stay here before we get on the road, so -- you should lie down and rest while you can.

Jesse: Move the search south. Keep me posted. All right. Hey, might be a good idea for you to get some sleep.

Zach: Don't have time for that. I gotta keep going after Adam. Prove that Annie shot Stuart. Keep Kendall safe.

Jesse: In order to do that, you need to be on top of your game, not sleep-deprived. Get some sleep. I'll be in touch.

Zach: All right. [Sigh]

[Door closes]

Zach: [Sighs]

Zach's voice: I love you.

Kendall's voice: I love you, too.

Tad: That bastard.

Amanda: Listen, don't -- don't go tell him off or beat him up. It won't help. Has to be between me and David.

Tad: Trust me, as tempting as the idea of beating David's face in sounds, I think I'm gonna take my cue from Jake on this one. Actually, I'm sort of surprised. Normally this is where he would start coming up with some crazed telenovela scheme to save you, Trevor, and the world as we know it from the good doctor. For him to show this kind of restraint's impressive. Dare I say it, even mature.

Amanda: Well, at first I was angry at Jake for not helping, but I get it now. This is a choice that I have to make. How do I choose, Tad?

Tad: I don't know. But you'll figure it out. And whatever you decide, Jake's gonna be right there with you. He loves the hell out of you.

Amanda: And I love the hell out of him right back.

Tad: I know that. Everybody does. Including David. I want you to be aware of that. He knows how much you and Jake love one another. That's why he's gonna try to destroy it. Because he knows he'll never have anything like that.

Marissa: [Sniffles, exhales] You will not believe what David is doing. He wants another child. So, what does he do? He's trying to make a deal. A bargain. I mean, how can he do this? There are -- there are so many people in this world who want kids and deserve them but can't have them. [Sniffles, exhales] I'm sorry.

J.R.: It's all right.

Marissa: No, it's not. It's not. I mean, you've got enough to deal with without me going off on David. [Sniffles, inhales] Bet your morning was a lot better than mine. How was group?

J.R.: It helped. And the doughnuts weren't half bad.

Marissa: [Sigh] Neither was the dance with the groom.

J.R.: Do you know how much I love you?

Marissa: Tell me after your nap.

J.R.: I'm not taking a nap.

Marissa: Yes. Come on. I will sit with you, and we'll just close our eyes and forget about everything and everyone but us.

J.R.: I like that.

Zach: You're here. You're home.

Kendall: You found me.

Zach: Come to bring you home.

[Knocking on door]

Zach: [Sighs]

Jesse: Hey. Aidan's getaway car may have been spotted.

Zach: I thought your search team went the other way.

Jesse: Natalia. She followed a hunch, took a drive.

Zach: I gotta warn Kendall.

Marissa: [Stands at the window crying and sighs]

Tad: I -- I ran into Amanda in the park.

Jake: So, she told you?

Tad: Yeah. Are you ok?

Jake: I've, you know, gone through the -- peeling myself off the ceiling part and -- yeah, I'm -- I'm ok. I'm -- I'm -- you know, even. I'm -- I'm -- I'm -- I'm all right.

Tad: Why, because you know what she's gonna do?

Jake: Well, hopefully she does what she has to do -- the right thing, you know? For Trevor, for us, this family.

Amanda: I've made my decision.

David: Wow. That was fast. I didn't expect you back so soon. And with a lawyer.

Liza: Amanda called me. We discussed it, and I agreed to meet her here.

David: Ok, so, don't keep me in suspense. What have you decided?

Amanda: Before I tell you, I want you to know why I'm doing this. I love Jake, and I want to be with him forever. And I want Trevor to be with us as much as possible, and I will do anything to make that happen. [Sigh] So, yes. I will have another child with you. But -- but I am doing this for the future of my family. I love Jake, not you. And I don't want you to expect anything more than this baby, ok? And I don't want you to interfere with my marriage. Those are my terms. So, do you want to go through with this or not?

David: Did you hear that, Trevor? We're gonna make you a little brother or sister.

Zach: Kendall's not responding. You gotta call off Natalia.

Jesse: I already ordered her back to Pine Valley.

Zach: Well, order her again. It's your family. Do it again.

Jesse: I'm trying, man. Obviously, she has not picked up. She's gonna hunt this down to the end. Natalia.

Zach: She's not responding. Come on, Kendall. Uhh. Come on, Kendall.

Aidan: Hey. It's all right. It's just me. Go back to sleep.
