Aidan: What happened?
Kendall: You've been resting.
Aidan: For how long?
Kendall: About a day. You were having really bad nightmares. With the infection and the fever, I thought we have to go to the hospital.
Aidan: No, Kendall. We can't. I told you, we can't do that.
Kendall: It's ok, Aidan. It's all right. It's all right. We're safe. We're safe, and you still need to rest, but I think the fever is gone. You're getting better.
Aidan: Thanks to you.
Adam: Annie, you tossed and turned all night long, Annie. I'll get you upstairs, get you some rest. Did you hear me?
Annie: He sabotaged me. He set me up.
Adam: So, it's Ryan again.
Annie: Yes. Yes, Ryan. He forced me back to that penthouse. He forced me to tell Emma about our wedding before I was ready, and now I know she's all upset, and I'm completely shut out. Adam, I need to be with her right now, so I can be protecting her.
Adam: Oh, great. Nobody is gonna find out about the accident -- little Emma hurting, shooting Stuart. I'll make sure of it myself.
Annie: How? Ryan has her locked in that house. What if she says something?
Adam: Listen. I want you to look at me. Look me in the eye. Now, in two weeks, we get married. Barry's top priority is getting Emma back in this house permanently.
Annie: Two weeks.
Adam: Two weeks. Not long.
Annie: An eternity.
Adam: If you obsess on it.
Annie: Well, I am known for my obsessions.
Adam: Well, you're gonna have to set this one aside. Think of all the fun we're gonna have, huh? Shopping, for starters, and brunches at the Yacht Club, and I've already got a table reserved for two, just two.
Annie: Ha ha!
[Music plays at the Yacht Club]
Ryan: You know, if you ever get one of those things wet, you just got to drop it in a bag of rice. Little trick I learned from a friend of mine.
Erica: You're late.
Ryan: Very busy morning. I had to make sure everything was on track.
Erica: I assume you invited me here to apologize for last night, our fight.
Ryan: No. Apologies are gonna have to wait. Right now, I need every devious bone in your body.
Zach: Need your help.
Jake: "Hello. How are you?" "I'm fine. How are you?" "Nice to see you." "You, too."
Zach: The night that Stuart was killed, Adam was on a drug that Hayward gave him, illegal drug. You had it checked at the hospital.
Zach: What was it?
Jake: Why you asking?
Zach: What was it? I need to know.
Jake: You want to know David's secret recipe. Well, you're gonna have to ask him yourself, and by the way, you're never gonna be able to prove that those pills came from David because there was a nurse, a nurse that took the fall.
Zach: Ok. Where is he?
Jake: He's with my wife.
David: So, what brings you two here?
Amanda: Trevor has a checkup with the pediatrician.
David: Great. Listen. Do you have some time later on? I have a proposal for you. Don't worry. Nothing too nefarious. I'm sure you'll be very intrigued. Listen. Why don't we meet at the Yacht Club later for lunch, and we'll talk about it, all right?
Amanda: No. Just tell me now.
David: Ok. Yeah. Well, later -- Yacht Club.
Zach: The drug you gave to Adam, I need it now.
David: What drug?
Zach: The drug that Adam was on when Stuart was killed.
David: Didn't we already cover this?
Zach: Yes, the nurse -- Nurse Gayle. Now let's just assume that you did know something about it.
David: I wouldn't discuss it with a soul.
Zach: Ok. I don't have time to play games.
David: Yeah. Well, that makes two of us.
Zach: This is where you ask what's in it for you.
David: Ok, Zach. I'll play. What's in it for me?
Zach: Chandler goes down for good.
Amanda: And he's going to check your eyes and your cute, little ears. What about that nose? Oh.
Jake: I've been wanting to do that.
Amanda: Oh -- well, you could do it again.
Jake: So, I saw you talking to Hayward. I wanted to go over there and break his face.
Amanda: Zach got him out of here in a hurry. What was that about?
Jake: I don't know. I don't care. At least we're alone, right?
Trevor: Ha ha!
Amanda: Well, yeah. Not exactly, so let's keep this family channel.
Jake: Hmm, ok. I have an idea. Why don't we bring Trevor over to Tad's, and then we'll go find a little place, maybe a hotel? If that's not ok, we'll go to the rooftop of Fusion, or we can go to the stables at Wildwind, whatever you want.
Amanda: I can't.
Jake: Why? You worried about Trevor? I think he'll think it's fine. It's normal. It's natural.
Amanda: No. It's not that. David needs to see me.
David: So, you want to kill Adam Chandler. Didn't you already try that? Oh, that's right. That was your wife.
Zach: I never said I wanted the man dead.
David: Right. You just want to bring him down. Were you just saying that to get me on board?
Zach: If we do this right, he'll take a hit he won't recover from.
David: And, of course, Kendall walks free.
Zach: Yes or no?
David: Ha ha ha! You know, I got to tell you, I find it a bit amusing that you would ask me for this favor. Just yesterday you almost tore my head off for talking to a reporter.
Zach: Adam kept your grandson from you. He almost killed my boy. Now, you want to fight me, or you want to fight him?
David: It's not just Little Adam. The Chandlers took another family member from me. Marissa married J.R. They just keep taking from me. All right. Why don't you explain to me what you think will be accomplished by drugging Adam?
Zach: He knows who killed Stuart, and he's blocked it out.
David: So, you want to recreate his mental state the night of the murder, and you think that'll bring it to the surface?
Zach: You're the doctor. You tell me.
Kendall: Ah, I think your fever broke.
Aidan: That's a good sign. I better get off my lazy bum, then.
Aidan: Oh, hang on. Hang on.
Kendall: That's what I thought. Ok. You haven't eaten in 24 hours, Aidan. You need to get your strength back. Relax. You need some soup.
Aidan: Kendall, thank you.
Kendall: Oh, for what?
Aidan: Oh, for staying up all night watching over me, making sure I don't die.
Kendall: Oh, Aidan, I'm the one who should be thanking you. I mean, if you hadn't gotten me out of the hospital, Zach and I would both be in prison. So thanks to you, my boys can be with their dad until I'm in the clear.
Aidan: And now you're stuck here with me. Suppose it's better than being in prison.
Kendall: You could say that, a wee bit better. Ha ha! Open up.
Aidan: This is my favorite.
Kendall: I knew that.
Erica: I'm not devious. I told you that I called Zach because I wanted to help, and I sensed that Emma was on the verge of telling the truth, that she saw Annie shoot Stuart, and so I'm not devious.
Ryan: I know. It's ok.
Erica: No. It's not because I don't like fighting with you, and if this is about making up --
Ryan: I can't explain right now, but please know that I don't like fighting with you, either.
Erica: But you said --
Ryan: You were right to call Zach. After you left, he came over. We came up with an idea, very much like you thought we would. The wheels are in motion right now, and what we need is, we need a distraction for Annie. We need something to lure the bride away from the groom for the rest of the day.
Erica: Since I have kind of a history of walking down the aisle --
Ryan: And because you happen to know how women's minds work, we thought you could come up with the perfect distraction for us.
Erica: Well, how much time do I have?
Ryan: Time is up.
Adam: What do you say we go to the Valley Inn?
Annie: No, no, no, no. I will not let anybody see me running from Ryan and Erica Kane.
Erica: I don't care how inspirational you find her. I will not give any message at all to Annie Lavery. Well, yes. Of course I would love to have a donation of that size for my Feed the Children Hunger Project -- of course, I would -- but I'm not gonna be blackmailed. Oh, I have to go. This table is taken.
Annie: Who were you talking to?
Erica: None of your business.
Annie: I heard my name.
Adam: Someone thinks my bride-to-be is inspirational.
Ryan: You know what? I'm not gonna stick around and listen to this, ok? Talk to you later.
Erica: Ok. Yeah. Well, people find inspiration in the weirdest places -- can of soup, piece of trash.
Adam: Let's not get hostile.
Annie: You know what? I can handle this, Adam. Why don't you go find us our table?
Annie: So, you were talking to an artist about me?
Erica: A designer, actually -- Ricky Zia. He happens to be in town for the day, and, for some unknown reason, he wants to design a wedding gown for you.
Annie: Wow, and he's so anxious for you to put in a good word, he would give a donation to your charity. My God, this is amazing. The great Erica Kane needs me.
Amanda: Ignoring me isn't very productive.
Jake: You're right. Why don't I go see what the doctor wants and --
Amanda: Jake, can I please explain?
Jake: You don't have to explain anything to me. I got it. You're blowing me off, right? Whatever David wants, whatever David needs. I get it. Do you want to know how that makes me feel? I just want to share this with you. You want to know how it makes me feel? It makes me want to break something.
Amanda: We can't go on as if he doesn't exist. It'll just make him come on stronger.
Jake: You live in his house. You are with him constantly. What could possibly be so important that you want to run off in the little sliver of time that we have together?
Amanda: David said that he has a proposal for me. He said that I would find it intriguing.
Jake: Well, that makes me feel comfortable.
Amanda: Look. I think it's about our agreement, Jake. He's finally realized that we can't go on like this forever.
Jake: Well, why not? The guy has got everything he wants, right? He's got you, he's got the baby, everything he needs.
Amanda: The other day when we helped Aidan and Kendall escape, something changed. I came clean to David. I told him I'm the one who knocked him over the head, that he forces people to do stuff like that because he's so paranoid and suspicious. If he showed people compassion, maybe they would do the same for him. I was honest, and he respected that, and that just might be why he has this proposal.
Jake: Oh, my God, could you just stop using that word, please? It makes me nervous. Look. We both know that Dr. Demento is up to something, ok, so whatever he wants, just tell him no. No.
David: So, you want to slip a few pills into Adam's scotch, unlock his subconscious.
Zach: That's about it.
David: Well, you should know that's a serious long shot. We can give him the same drug, whatever it was, and that's no guarantee he's gonna remember anything. I mean, maybe over time --
Zach: We don't have time. Get me the pills. I'll deal with the rest.
David: You know, I just noticed that Adam has a scheduled appointment today. Why don't you leave that part to me?
Zach: I can trust you with that?
David: Not at all, but what choice do you have?
Woman on PA: Dr. Forrest, please dial 118.
Zach: Hayward is in. How about you?
Ryan: We got to keep our fingers crossed. I just left Erica with Annie.
Annie: So, how much was the great Ricky Zia willing to donate in exchange for designing my wedding gown?
Erica: Let's get one thing straight. It's not you he's interested in. It's the publicity. If the great Adam Chandler were marrying a cocker spaniel, he'd design a gown with four paws and a tail. Oh, actually, maybe that's the direction you were already going in.
Annie: I wouldn't be so snide if you need a favor from me.
Adam: Ah, is everything all right here?
Annie: Just wonderful. Did you get us our table?
Adam: Yeah. Well, I'm afraid I can't stay. I just got a call from the hospital, and I've scheduled a checkup. I can postpone it.
Annie: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. You should go. I want you in tiptop shape when we walk down the aisle.
Erica: Or maybe when you come to your senses, you'll run screaming from the ceremony. Well, just remember one thing, Annie. No matter who the designer is, there's just so much that fabric can hide.
Adam: So, what was that all about?
Annie: Supposedly, some designer wants to make my wedding dress.
Annie: Mm-him. I mean, Erica is good -- she's really good -- but that whole thing was an act.
Adam: Oh, so we're being played.
Annie: Yeah, but the question is, why?
Amanda: Because it's the smart thing to do. That's why.
Jake: The smart thing to do would be to tell David to take his offer and shove it. That would be the smart thing to do.
Amanda: I don't even know what it is.
Jake: Well, good. Keep it that way.
Amanda: I'm sorry. I'm going to hear him out, and if it's something good for us and Trevor, then I'll probably say yes, and if not, I'll say no.
Jake: Right, because it's always that easy with David, right?
Amanda: If I don't even hear him out, it'll just piss him off even more, and what if I'm right, Jake? What if David is willing to give you more access to the baby? Are you really ready to risk losing that?
Jake: I would do anything for this kid, ok, but that is not what he's offering. You know it, and I know it.
Kendall's voice: Dear Zach, I hope you got my last letter and that you understand now why I had to run. I know you're worried, but you don't have to be. I'm safe. I miss you so much. All I can think about is being together again -- you, me, and the boys. Thanksgiving. That vision is pulling me through, giving me hope. As I write these words, I know you're doing everything you can to make it so I can come home. Until then, we have a place to stay. It's a little rundown, but --
Aidan: Are you bloody insane?
Annie: You know, my daughter almost died. All of our attention should be focused on her. Instead, Ryan and Erica are here playing games, finding new ways to mess with us.
Adam: Yeah. I'm still trying to understand why they would cook up a ruse regarding your wedding dress.
Annie: I don't know. Maybe it's so close to the big day, they want me left with no options. They want me stuck walking down the aisle in a white taffeta potato sack. I really don't know, but meanwhile, who's with Emma right now? I mean, she's left all alone with the secret.
Adam: She'll be fine. She'll be all right. You know, actually, this gives us a huge opportunity.
Annie: What do you mean?
Adam: If you're correct and this designer story is a trick, use it.
Adam: We'll make them think they're getting what they want.
Annie: So, you're saying I should play along?
Adam: Oh, yes. Play -- and win.
Erica: Look. I'm not at all sure that Annie bought it. Frankly, I was so afraid I would say the wrong thing, because I really don't know exactly what's going on here, so do you think one of you could possibly explain to me what exactly this plan is?
Zach: Sure. Adam knows who killed Stuart, but he's blocked it out.
Ryan: And we have a way to bring him back, but we need to get him alone.
Erica: So, you want me to divert Annie so you can do what exactly?
Zach: So we can find out what he knows.
Erica: All right. The problem is that Annie hasn't necessarily taken the bait.
Ryan: She's suspicious. You just got to give her a little bit of time. At the very least, she's gonna love having something to hang over your head.
Zach: And if she does call, just get her away from Chandler's.
Erica: Yeah, but if she doesn't call, what then?
Zach: We need some other bait.
Erica: Something that Annie desperately wants and something that she would never, never turn down.
Emma: Is Mommy coming over?
Ryan: No, Ems. Your mommy isn't coming over right now. Why don't you -- oh! You're so heavy. Why don't you head up and finish your homework, ok? I'll be up in a little while, ok?
Zach: Hey --
Ryan: Annie is not getting anywhere near Emma, ok? I've made that very, very clear. The girl is terrorized. She's been interrogated. She's been accused. She's been manipulated. It's all because of Annie.
Zach: No one wants Emma to suffer, but we don't want Kendall to suffer, either.
Erica: Listen. What if someone were here to make sure that Annie didn't do anything?
Ryan: No, guys. Guys, I want to help Kendall -- I really do -- but I don't want to sacrifice my own daughter.
Zach: What about your son? What about your son? He's about to lose his mother.
Ryan: So, you want me to choose between my kids?
Zach: No. I don't want you to choose anything, but I want to put away Annie for good, so she doesn't hurt anybody anymore.
Erica: Ok. Ryan clearly doesn't want to do this, and I understand why.
Zach: And I don't? I hate this. I don't want Emma to suffer. I don't want anyone to suffer, but this is our last chance. We got to take it.
Ryan: It's not happening. End of discussion.
Zach: So, what do we do, Ryan? What's the plan?
Ryan: I don't know what we do.
[Cell phone rings]
Erica: Oh. Shh.
Annie: Erica, it's Annie. I have a proposition for you.
Aidan: The D.A.'s office, the police, they're all waiting for any sign of contact from you.
Kendall: Aidan, come on. I'm not stupid, all right? I didn't say where we are.
Aidan: Well, the postmark might, the paper you're using, too, right, might lead them right to us. Ow!
Kendall: Ok. All right. Stop, stop. Just come sit down. Be careful. Sit down. Be careful. Listen to me, Aidan. I just need to let Zach know that I'm all right.
Aidan: Kendall, it's too risky.
Kendall: Please, Aidan, please. The way we left was so sudden, I mean, the look of Zach's face. He and I have spent so much time fighting, we've grown so far apart, I didn't think we'd ever find our way back, but we did. Right before you and I left, Zach and I turned a corner. Things were really good, so I really need him to know that this wasn't a betrayal.
Aidan: Yeah. I was part of your problems with Zach.
Kendall: Well, it started with you. Then there was Reese and then Ryan. That was a huge disaster. That whole time, that seemed so unreal to me. I mean, coming out of my coma was like waking up in an alternate universe where nothing made any sense. I didn't recognize anyone, not even myself. Everything was crazy. I mean, I had a new heart. Bianca had Zach's baby. Greenlee was gone. I lost my best friend, and then I almost lost my son.
Aidan: You and Zach, you remarried.
Kendall: Yeah, only so he wouldn't have to testify against me, but then Zach came up with this crazy plan to lock me in a secret room in our house, and that's when things started to change. We were forced to face each other and face our issues and deal with what we had lost, but then we realized there was still so much there. We still had a future and hope, love. We didn't have any time. We never really connected, so that's why I really, really need this connection, so even though I'm gone, Zach knows I'm still with him. I'll always be with him. Aidan, if I can't send this letter, what am I supposed to do?
Adam: Could we move this along?
Jake: Yes. I'm doing the best -- do you want it fast, or do you want it thorough?
Adam: Why don't you try both? I had to cancel a brunch reservation with my fiancée because of these damned examinations.
Jake: Well, if you were wise, maybe you'd cancel the whole wedding. I'm just saying, this way, you'd never be late for Annie for anything.
Adam: You keep your opinions to yourself. Just do the damned exam, ok?
Jake: Ok. All right. I've been noticing that you have not been refilling your prescription for quite some time. Is there a reason for that? That's your heart medication. It's very important.
Adam: I loathe pills.
Jake: But I'm sure you like being alive, right? Heart medication, it's very important that you take that.
Adam: All right. All right. I'll refill it.
Adam: Are we done here?
Jake: No. Hold on a second. Just humor me, please. Terry, will you do me a favor and fill this for Mr. Chandler right away? Thanks.
[David walks up to Adam's room]
Erica: Annie, I am sure that you are just desperate for someone to stand up for you at the wedding, but I'm probably not the right choice.
Annie: Oh, I completely agree. Always a bride, never a bridesmaid.
Erica: So, what is your proposition, Annie?
Annie: I do you the favor you couldn't bring yourself to ask for, and you do me a favor in return.
Erica: I suppose we could discuss that in person.
Annie: That won't work for me.
Erica: All right, so what favor is this you need me to do for you?
Annie: A simple one. You do nothing to disrupt my wedding. You let me marry Adam in peace.
Erica: I suppose I could hold my tongue for a few vows.
Annie: Great. So, when and where does this designer want to meet?
Erica: He has a fashion shoot outside of town going on right now at Lake Coney, so actually, if you leave right now, I'm sure you could catch him.
Annie: Mm, will do. I'll just grab the shoes I was planning to wear and go.
Erica: She's on her way.
Zach: So am I.
Kendall: Aidan. Aidan! Oh, great.
Adam: I can't wait any longer.
Jake: Just a second. It's not gonna kill you. Not taking your meds, on the other hand --
David: Nurse, would you do me a favor and let me know what time I have my consult with Dr. Canali, please?
[While the nurse looks away, David replaces Adam's prescription with his own pills]
Nurse: Yes. It's at 3:00.
David: Oh, that's great. Thank you very much.
Nurse: Here you are, Mr. Chandler.
Adam: It's about time.
Jake: Thank you, Terry. Yeah. No. I'd like you to take these pills right now, please.
Adam: What are you, my mother?
Jake: Just -- water fountain is down right next to the men's room.
[Adam swallows some of David's pills]
David: Mission accomplished.
Amanda: Where are you?
David: Something came up at the hospital. I'm on my way. Sit tight.
Jake: Will you excuse me for just one second?
Erica: Ryan, if this works, after today, Annie can never hurt your little girl again.
Ryan: Thank you for going along with this. I pretty much just dumped it on you without any warning, and I guess I just assumed that you would go along with it.
Erica: Well, I want you to have your little girl back.
Ryan: And now I need to say that I should not have come down so hard on you last night. I know you were just trying to help.
Erica: Well, now you're helping, too, and this may be just what Kendall needs to get her freedom back.
Ryan: God, I hope -- I so hope -- it works out for Kendall. I really do, Erica. I just -- you know why Emma is my priority in this.
Erica: Of course, I do. You love her very much. It's wonderful to see.
Ryan: And I'm sorry that your father didn't love you the way you deserved.
Erica: Well, that's all in the past. Ok. I admit it. I do envy little Emma a little bit. She has a father like you. I see how far you'll go to protect her.
[Emma is startled when Annie walks into her room from the terrace]
Adam: [Inhales] [Pants] What are you doing here?
Zach: Doesn't matter.
Adam: Get out.
Zach: Heard about that bogus offer you made to Erica about helping Kendall.
Adam: I meant every word.
Zach: Yeah. No. No. You're just fishing. You want to know where she is so you can call the cops.
Adam: Heh. You know, despite our differences, Erica and I, she's given me a lot, a great deal, and I don't want to see her daughter gunned down in a shootout.
Zach: You don't care what happens to Kendall.
Adam: Heh. Oh... did I not ask the judge for leniency at her sentencing?
Zach: Yes. You did, but it wasn't enough. She shouldn't have spent one day behind bars. She didn't kill your brother, and you know that.
Adam: I know nothing of the kind.
Zach: Would you think back to that night? Kendall didn't pull the trigger. You know she didn't.
Adam: All right. Leave. Leave now. Just leave.
Zach: You know who killed your brother. We all do.
Zach: The truth, Adam. The truth. You've known it all along, haven't you? Annie killed your brother, didn't she?
David: Hey, sorry I'm late. So, are there any specials?
Amanda: You have a proposal for me. Let's hear it.
David: Can I at least order a drink first? Ok. Fine. It's obvious to me that Trevor is your whole world, that there's nothing more important to you in your life. You want to be there with him. You want to help raise him.
Amanda: Get to the point.
David: I want the same thing, which is why I'm willing to discuss joint custody with you now.
Amanda: Are you serious?
Amanda: Because, I swear, if you're messing with me, David --
David: No. No. I'm not messing with you. This is a real offer. Of course, there's something I'd like in return. I'd love for our son to have a little brother or sister.
David: That's right. I want another child with you.
Kendall: Oh, my God. Oh, Lord, what is that?
Aidan: It's a laptop. It's brand-new, high-capacity batteries.
Kendall: Ok. All right. You know what? You scared the crap out of me. What'd you do? What, did you go to an electronics store?
Aidan: I stole it from a police patrol car. It's pretty cool, huh?
Kendall: Yeah. Yeah. It's cool. It's pretty risky, though, but brilliant. I mean, this way, we can keep track of the cops, and we'll know what they're doing at all times.
Aidan: Yeah. True. That's not why I took it, though.
Kendall: Then why?
Aidan: This is my way of saying thanks for nursing me back to health. You can't send that letter, but you can reach out to him. That computer is the way you connect to Zach.
Kendall: I can use this to contact Zach?
Aidan: Yep. It's totally untraceable.
Kendall: By e-mail? But won't the cops be all over Zach's computer? I mean, wouldn't they be here in, like, five minutes?
Aidan: Who said anything about e-mail?
Zach: Answer me.
Adam: Go. Go. Just get out of my house.
Zach: Tell me what really happened.
Adam: Out! Before I call security.
Zach: I'm not leaving here until we're done.
Adam: Leave me alone!
Erica: Zach should be with Adam by now. Won't be long.
Annie: That's why I got here as fast as I could, to make sure you know I love you so much, more than anything in the world, and nothing is ever going to change that. Emma, the wedding was never meant to be a secret, ok? I was just waiting for the right time to tell you, but you want to hear some exciting news? You are gonna have a very important job -- flower girl. Isn't that exciting? Adam is a wonderful man, and he's gonna be a wonderful stepfather, and my dream is for you to come live with us in that big, beautiful house.
Emma: You know why I won't go back there.
Adam: I need to sit down. I haven't felt like this since --
Zach: Since when?
Adam: Since that night.
Zach: You haven't felt like this since that night? What night -- the night that Stuart was killed, when he was standing right here dressed like you, when he took a bullet for you? You mean that night? How do you do it, man? How do you do it? How do you walk into this room as if nothing happened, as if your brother wasn't shot right here?
Annie: You don't have to be scared. I'll make sure you're safe in that house. So will Adam.
Emma: No! I won't go. You can't go, either.
Annie: Emma, please.
Emma: If you marry Adam, I'll tell everyone the truth. He killed his brother.
