[Dance music playing on TV]
Krystal: What the hell are you doing? What the hell are you doing? Why are you doing this to yourself? Just erase that damn thing.
Jake: It wouldn't make any difference because it plays over and over in my head, so what would be the point?
Amanda: Trevor -- where's Trevor?
David: It's ok. It's all right. He's right over there. The two of you fell asleep while we were driving home. Just take it easy. Everything's gonna be all right. Just go back to sleep, ok?
Kendall: Come on. Oh, come on, Aidan! Aidan, let me out now! Come on. It's morning already! Let me out!
Tad's voice on TV: 4, 3, 2, 1. And that is it. We have our winner.
Zach: Where's Kendall?
Aidan: You said if she got difficult, to lock her up. So I locked her up.
Zach: Ok. Now, Kendall being here, that stays between us.
Zach: This might be a good time for you to take one of your trips.
Aidan: Oh, just because I found out about Kendall, you want me to leave town?
Zach: No. If this falls apart, anyone who knows about it is gonna be culpable. Better cover yourself.
Aidan: Thanks, Zach, but I'm a big boy. I'm in this for the long haul, same as you.
Zach: Meaning what?
Aidan: Meaning I can help you nail the real killer. I know Annie better than anybody.
Zach: What if I don't want your help?
Aidan: I think you'll find it's because of me, Kendall's not in a prison cell right now.
Zach: So what you're saying, Aidan, is that I don't have a choice? Are you blackmailing me?
Tad: 19 hours, 45 minutes, and 36 seconds. Congratulations, you guys. How do you feel?
Natalia: Oh, we're tired, but we're thrilled.
Brot: Definitely surprised, but we're glad we can help out.
Tad: Help out? You've raised a whole bunch of money. And now you get to fight over who gets to keep the trophy.
Natalia: Ha ha. Thank you.
Tad: And by the way, now you can let go of each other.
[Knocking on door]
Tad: Erica? It's Tad. We're -- we're on a commercial break. I really, really think you should be there for the wrap-up.
[Knocking on door]
Ryan: Yeah. We'll be out in one second. Ah.
[Dance music playing on TV]
[Krystal turns off TV]
Krystal: Jake --
Jake: I don't want any lectures from you, ok?
Krystal: I don't like lectures, either.
Jake: Well, then, good. Good. Feel free to move along and leave me alone.
Krystal: And let you wallow in your own misery? Just beat yourself up watching the two of them dancing together over and over and over and over again.
Jake: -- Sitting here and going into how he's gonna do to Amanda exactly what he did to you and he's gonna manipulate her and use her and get her to believe every single word that he said, and then he's gonna get exactly what he wants. That would make me feel much better, so go ahead. Go ahead.
Krystal: Why don't you get off your butt and go fight for her?
Jake: Because this was her choice, that's why.
Krystal: You know what? That's really funny, because I thought I had a choice with David, too.
Jake: Oh, so, what, he's drugging her as well?
Krystal: You know what? I wouldn't be surprised. But what I am saying is something that you don't want to hear and you're gonna hear it, Jake, because when I lived in his house under his roof, I didn't know who I was. I didn't know what was up and what was down. I didn't know myself. I was a ghost walking around in that house. Now, don't let David do the same thing to Amanda.
David: I wanna show you something. All right? Big boy. Look at you. Ha ha ha. Come here.
David: Ooh. Come here. I'm gonna show you these pictures here. You see these pictures right here? These people are your family. That's right. You see this beautiful woman right there? That is your sister Babe. Mm-hmm. She's in heaven right now, but you're gonna hear all about her as you get older. And this guy right here? That is Little Adam. Believe it or not, he's your nephew. That's right. Even though you're just a little guy, you are already an uncle. Isn't that weird? Ha ha ha. And I know you two are gonna be great buddies as you get older. Absolutely. And you see this one right over here? That is Marissa. She's your sister. Isn't she pretty? Hmm? She's grown up to be quite an amazing woman. Just like your mother. That's right. Now, I know that there's no picture of your mother up here right now, but we're gonna fix that, ok? Yeah, you like that, huh? And we're gonna put a picture of you right in the middle of everyone, right where you belong, all right? Yeah. Because your mother -- she worked so hard to be where she is with you right now. She sacrificed everything. That's right, she did. Yeah. And I promise you -- I'm gonna take good care of her, ok? I am. Look at me. Hey. I'm gonna take good care of your mother. And we made a promise, the two of us, that we're gonna take care of you, really good care. We're gonna keep you safe and happy, all right? And we're gonna teach you everything. I am gonna teach you how to play the piano. That's right. How to throw a ball. Ha ha ha ha. Yes, that's it. And we're gonna teach you how to be a good man, all right? Yeah. Teach you how to be a good man and -- and how to love. Yeah, that's right. Most importantly, how to love. And you are gonna grow up, and you are gonna be the kind of man that is a man of dignity and a man of trust. Yeah. You are. Now, those are the kind of things that your father, he kinda lost somewhere along the way. But luckily for you, your mother has them in spades. That's right. Yeah. So between the two of us, we've got you pretty much covered, all right? Ha ha ha. There isn't gonna be anything that you won't be able to do. Nothing. Nothing. Mm, mm, mm. Mm. Hey.
Aidan: I could've turned Kendall in last night, but I didn't. Instead, I made myself an accessory after the fact.
Zach: What do you want?
Aidan: Same thing as you. Annie behind bars.
Zach: And why? For the good of society or because she dumped you?
Aidan: She's dangerous. To anyone and everyone she's around. I know you've tried real hard to get close to her, to get inside that house, to find out what's going on in that crazy brain of hers. How's that been working out for you, eh?
Zach: I'm on it, Aidan. I'm on it.
Aidan: But it would help if I gave you some info, though, wouldn't it? See, I know how to get in and out of the Chandlers'.
Zach: And if I say no, you'll go ahead anyway.
Zach: Don't do anything without running it past me first.
Aidan: I'd take precautions before going in that room if I were you. You might want to use some -- some tear gas or knockout gas.
Zach: Yeah. Lock the door on your way out.
Kendall: Well, it's about time. Oh. Well, you're finally back. Do you have any idea what Aidan did to me?
Zach: Yeah. He did exactly what I asked him to do. And maybe you should be a little more grateful that he pulled you out of there without anyone seeing you.
Kendall: So, where's your trophy? Before I lost my TV privileges, it looked like you and Liza were scoring a lot of points. On and off the dance floor. So, did you win? Or did you just spend the night grinding away with her?
Zach: You're not gonna stop, are you?
Kendall: Not until she's out of our lives for good.
Aidan: Well, hello, hello, hello.
Liza: Well, I thought you moved out of town.
Aidan: Just because you don't see me doesn't mean I'm not there.
Liza: Didn't realize you were Batman. That's -- that's private -- for Zach.
Aidan: Kendall's legal files? You're resigning as her attorney? I guess things didn't end up so friendly at the dance marathon.
Liza: Things went exactly how they were supposed to. We raised a lot of money for needy children.
Aidan: Oh, no, I'm talking about you and Zach. See, I watched a bit of it on TV. Seems like there was a lot more going on on that dance floor than just a lawyer with her client's husband.
Liza: You must have had bad reception. So, what are you doing here?
Aidan: Me? I'm baby-sitting for Zach. A last minute thing.
Liza: You're lying.
Zach: I don't know what you want me to say.
Kendall: I don't want to fight. I just want to go get my son, feed him some breakfast. Do I need permission for that, too?
Zach: I never stopped you from seeing your son.
Kendall: Yeah, actually, you did by locking me in here all night.
Zach: I'll go get him.
David: So, how long were you listening?
Amanda: Long enough.
David: I didn't mean for you to hear all of that.
Amanda: Didn't you?
David: You see, for that very reason. Now you think I knew you were awake, and I was just saying all of those things so that you would think that I'm not such a bad guy after all.
Amanda: Well, you have to admit, it is the kind of manipulative thing that you do.
David: Yeah. Yeah. So, why don't you just forget that I said any of it, ok? Just chalk it up to my feeble attempt to behave like a person who cares. And while you're at it, why don't you explain to our son that I was just lying to him, all right? I'm gonna try and get some sleep.
Erica: I want to thank all of you for watching, and for all of you who were so generous, who opened your wallets and your hearts. And I especially want to thank all of our participants. Now, technically, Ryan Lavery and I raised the most money. And thank you for all of your donations. But it was Natalia and Brot who were the last couple standing, and that is exactly what this contest has been all about.
Erica: And now I am so proud to announce that Fusion Cosmetics is going to make a pledge of $100,000 in Natalia and Brot's names.
Tad: I would like to second that. Thank you all for your participation and your generosity. We would like to finish our program with some footage of the reason we've been here all night: Erica Kane's recent trip to Africa.
Singer: I see that look in your eyes I can see you're close to giving up breaking and you don't want to fight but sometimes everybody gets tough if you give it time you'll come around I wanna see you holding on and I don't wanna see you going down I wanna see you holding on yeah if you give it time you'll come around I want to see you holding on so hold on this is my life's work.
Liza: Well. Remind me never to ask you to baby-sit my child. So, where is Zach? I'd like to talk to him.
Aidan: Oh, really? I was under the impression that you were trying to avoid him. Sneaking up to the front door like that, leaving the files with a note.
Liza: Well, I figured he'd be asleep since we were up all night dancing. But since you answered the door, I'd like to talk to him.
Aidan: Well, maybe you should just go on home, and I'll tell Zach that you came over.
Liza: You were heading out when you opened the front door. I know you wouldn't leave Ian alone, so, he's obviously gotta be here. Yeah, you know what? I will go check for myself.
Zach: So you got to explain something to me. You come over to Fusion -- why? To give all this up here so people know that you have this room? This room is here so you didn't have to go to prison. Spend time with your kids.
Kendall: Well, you left out the part about me giving you a chance to seduce Liza. Or was it the other way around? I guess at this point, it doesn't really matter, does it?
Zach: Yeah, I guess it doesn't. What was your plan, really? Come to Fusion and what -- hit Liza in the mouth? Knock her out? Take her place on the dance floor so everyone knows you weren't in prison?
Kendall: I came to see with my own eyes what's really going on between the two of you.
Zach: Well, she's out of my life now.
Kendall: Which means she was in your life at some point.
Liza over baby monitor: Zach? Are you up here?
Kendall: Out of your life, is she?
Natalia: Thank you so much for setting this all up. It was amazing.
Erica: Well, you and Brot were amazing.
Jesse: What's even more amazing was that you were supposed to be here working, not dancing.
Erica: Well, you know what? I think that just about everyone here was working the event in one way or the other. I mean, some with their own personal agendas. But the thing is, we raised a lot of money, and that's the most important thing -- how much money we raised for those -- those starving children. That's just great.
Angie: And the fun we had doing it.
Erica: Yes, uh-huh.
Ryan: Congratulations, guys.
Natalia: Thank you.
Ryan: Hey, should we go finish going over what we were -- going over?
Erica: Actually, yes, we should do that. Ok. All right. Excuse us, please.
Natalia: Aah! Ha ha.
Jesse: Hey. I'm thinking breakfast. Anybody else?
Angie: Uh, I'm thinking sleep.
Natalia: No way. I'm way too revved up to sleep.
Jesse: Well, I say, how about a toast? To the victors.
Natalia: Yeah. Ha ha.
Angie: Ha ha ha ha.
Natalia: Cheers, Daddy-O.
Jesse: Hey, hey. Dancing fools.
Brot and Natalia: Mmm.
Natalia: I wonder where I left my purse.
Angie: Oh, it's probably in the same place mine is.
Natalia: Let's go. Let's go find them.
Brot: You know, Jesse, your daughter's one of a kind. A lot of fun.
Jesse: Yeah. She's a challenge, that's for sure. But I get the feeling that you -- kind of guy that's up for a challenge.
Brot: Yeah. Hope I wasn't too hard on her, though. I gotta admit, I did have a little fun at her expense just to get a rise out of her, but, you know, just to keep her awake.
Jesse: Yeah. Right. I wish I could've been a fly on the wall for that. Ha.
Brot: We did, talk, though, and we talked about why she wanted to be a cop, and it really got me thinking.
Jesse: What? About being -- a cop?
Brot: Yeah. I mean, I've been looking for what's next in my life. What do you think?
Jesse: I think if you're looking for a way to annoy Natalia, you're off to a good start by becoming a cop. Ha ha ha ha.
Tad: Hey. Everything all right?
Krystal: No, everything is not all right, and I wish you would talk to your brother, because he seems to think that this whole situation with Amanda is hopeless.
Jake: You know what? Since we're making wishes here, you know what I wish? You know what I wish? I wish you'd leave me alone. Want me to say it in another language? How about Spanish? Dejame solo. Dejame solo.
Tad: Well, technically, that's Spanish. I'm gonna ask you a question. I want an honest answer. Are you really enjoying all this masochistic misery? Because if you are, I will leave you alone.
Jake: Masochist -- masochistic? Do you think that I want this?
Tad: I don't know.
Jake: Do you really think --
Tad: I don't know what you want, Jake. That's a real problem. You gotta know this isn't what Amanda wants.
Jake: That is the problem right there. I don't know what Amanda wants.
Liza: So, no one's upstairs. Not even Ian. Aidan. Yeah. What's going on?
Aidan: Like I said, maybe you should just go on home.
Liza: If you knew nobody was up there, why didn't you want me to go up there?
Aidan: Maybe I'm just playing with you. Enjoying watching you act so suspicious and paranoid.
Zach: Thought I heard your voice. I was giving Ian a bath. What's going on?
Liza: I don't know. You tell me. I mean, you guys are obviously hiding something, so -- any one of you care to tell me what the hell's going on?
Zach: Nothing odd going on here. My friend Aidan offered to look after Ian after the babysitter went home. I thought you left already.
Aidan: I was -- I was leaving when I bumped into Liza on my way out. And I think she has something very important to -- to tell you.
Zach: Well, then you should let her do that.
Aidan: I will.
Zach: And we'll talk next week at the casino about the proposal.
Aidan: Yeah. Absolutely. Always a pleasure, Liza.
Liza: Well, I haven't seen much of him since Stuart's murder.
Zach: He's doing some freelance work in DC. Why are you here? Didn't expect you after last night.
Liza: I had one more piece of business.
Erica: We kind of lost control in here earlier.
Ryan: Yeah. Must have been the excitement, or the -- or the heat.
Erica: Ryan -- we have a very special friendship. I can really talk to you. You encouraged me to move on from "New Beginnings" and then to go to Africa. To put this event together. No matter what we do, I don't want to risk that friendship.
Ryan: Really? Because I was kind of hoping that we could trash the whole friendship thing and just cash in on all the fun bits.
Erica: See? You also make me laugh. And very importantly, you just make me smile. Just because -- just because you're here.
Ryan: So -- what now?
Erica: I don't know. Our lives are complicated enough on their own. I mean, I have a daughter in prison, and you have an ex-wife who's trying to steal your daughter away from you. The timing is not very good.
Ryan: That's true. But is timing everything?
Erica: So much has changed lately.
Ryan: A lot has been good, for the better. I mean, you took a strong stand publicly and privately.
Erica: Well, I always take strong stands.
Ryan: But this just seems different somehow. I mean, complications and bad timing I get. I understand that. I guess I just want to make sure that we don't stop ourselves from doing something that we both want to do because of what other people think.
Jesse: I think the academy would be lucky to have you, whether Natalia likes it or not. So I think you -- you should apply. Go for it. Why not?
Natalia: What's going on?
Brot: I'm thinking about applying to the academy.
Natalia: What made you change your mind?
Jesse: Wasn't me.
Brot: It was actually my idea.
Natalia: It's a pretty big decision, don't you think?
Brot: Well, the way I see it is sometimes you just gotta jump in and sort your feelings out later, you know?
Angie: I likes that attitude. What are we talking about?
Jesse: Brot's thinking about joining the academy.
Angie: I think that's a great idea.
Jesse: Ok, listen, I'm beat. I want to go home. I need my wife, and I need my bed. Let's go.
Angie: Later, sweetie. Congratulations.
Jesse: See you later.
Natalia: I love you guys. What the hell do you think you're doing?
Tad: Why don't you get off your butt and go fight for her?
Jake: Oh, what? Like you fought for Krystal?
Tad: Oh, you didn't.
Krystal: Ok, wait, wait, wait a minute, wait a minute here. In all fairness, it's not the same thing. It's completely different. Jake, I was messed up. I was so messed up that not only did I leave Tad, I left Jenny. Ok? Amanda is not in the same condition I was. She is strong. And yes, yes, she is stubborn, but the two of you just need to get over trying to figure out who is right and get back to being a team.
Krystal: The most important thing is the baby. Ok? You have to think about Trevor.
Jake: Oh, honestly, honestly, who -- who are you people? Who are you people to give me any advice? Look at -- look at you. You're divorced but you live in the same house together, right? So, what are you, exactly? Are you exes? Are you lovers? Are you friends with benefits? What? And what are you two fighting for? Anything? Anything? Right. So, you know what? You should keep your advice or listen to yourself or give it to him or share it with each other or whatever, but do me a favor and leave me alone!
Krystal: Dejame solo.
David: Hey, you.
Amanda: I thought you weren't going to get any sleep, so I thought you might be hungry.
David: Sorry I walked out like that.
Amanda: I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions. It's just -- you surprised me. The things you were saying to Trevor. I'm just wondering why you didn't want me to hear what you were saying. What you said was -- lovely.
David: I guess I'm just not used to opening up like that. With a child, it's easier. They don't pre-judge you.
Amanda: Especially a baby. Can't talk back.
David: Well, let's just hope that by the time he can, he loves me as much as I love him.
Amanda: I think he will.
Natalia: You knew you'd get a reaction out of me, so you went to my dad just to frustrate me. You know, you -- why are you smiling?
Brot: You know, a lot of people in this town treat me with kid gloves. Don't raise your voice to the scarred-up vet because he might fall apart. But you, you speak your mind. And damn, it's nice to hear.
Natalia: It's nice, huh? So, you want a piece of my mind, right? Fine. You were probably a football hero in school, right? Probably an arrogant jock, too. Then you became this hotshot hero in Iraq who fought like hell after he nearly died. Well, guess what, Brot? You're still an arrogant jock, and you just proved it by this little move that you just pulled on my dad. God, you're so frustrating!
Brot: Why are you so angry? Just because I want to join the force?
Natalia: No, no, it has nothing to do with that, ok? It's because you're just -- cocky about it. As if [Snaps fingers] and you're right in. Do you know -- do you know how difficult it is to learn this manual? Do you know that? Do you even think that it's that easy to even pass the entrance exam?
Brot: Won't know until I try. Shoot.
Liza: So, this is all of Kendall's case files. Plus a summary of my thoughts on how to proceed with a request for a new trial. I think you're gonna be granted one, and I hope so, because I know how much it means to you.
Zach: I never meant for any of this to be hurtful to you, and I'm sorry it's --
Liza: You didn't do anything. We're both two needy people running away from pain in our lives. And we used each other for a little quick fix. Only you really touched me.
Zach: You're a damn good lawyer. I wish you'd reconsider and --
Liza: No. I can't. Kendall doesn't trust me. It's obvious. Even after she's admitted to her innocence on killing Stuart, she still refuses to work with me, over and over again. You gotta get someone new. Someone she doesn't hate with a burning passion.
Zach: What's this?
Liza: That's the letter that I sent to the district attorney this morning informing him of Kendall's intention to recant her admission of guilt. He'll be heading up to the prison this afternoon --
Zach: Well, that's not gonna happen.
Liza: It has to happen. You need a notarized --
Zach: Stop. No. Stop. It's over.
Erica: By "what people think about us," do you mean -- the difference in our ages?
Ryan: What difference in our ages?
Erica: Seriously. How do you feel about that?
Ryan: Honestly? I don't even think about it. I have always thought of us as equals.
Erica: I feel that way, too. But you know people out there can be very harsh.
Ryan: I don't care what people think. I don't. As far as I'm concerned, you're ageless. Trust me, they're gonna be wheeling me out into the solarium and feeding me mashed bananas far before you will ever have to join me there.
Erica: So, you think we're both secure enough to handle this?
Ryan: Like I said, I don't care what people think. I don't. I care about what you think.
Erica: I think -- you're an amazing man.
Natalia: How about this one? Which of the following witness statements can be called factually correct?
Brot: Let's see. Uh -- 2 and 5.
Natalia: All right. How many rounds does a 9mm magazine hold?
Brot: Handguns use clips. Rifles use magazines. Technically, a 9mm clip holds around 7 to 12 rounds.
Natalia: What about the physical shape you're in? You really think that you can handle physical stress?
Brot: Ahh. Do you want to arm-wrestle?
Natalia: You know what? Fine. I'll meet you at the academy tomorrow. We'll sign you up. I really hope you're as good at shooting on your range as you are at shooting off your mouth. I earned this. Mine!
[Natalia walks off with the dancing trophy]
David: All right. Wow. Thank you. It was delicious. You know, I think I'm gonna be able to get some sleep now, so, why don't I take Trevor? I'll take him upstairs. I'll put him in his crib. All right? Come here, big boy. Come here, you. Come here. [Speaking softly] There he is. Smiley baby.
Amanda: Hey. So good. Sleep tight, ok, little guy? Oh! I almost had it.
[The baby's pacifier falls to the floor]
David: I'll clean it upstairs.
Amanda: Ok. Bye, buddy. Good night.
David: Let's take this one for you, all right? Ok. Come on.
Jake: So, now, who are you to tell me anything --
[Tad and Jake talking at once]
Krystal: Stop it, both of you.
[Cell phone ringing]
Jake: Yeah, I'm not home.
Tad: No, it's Amanda. Come on. Jake!
[Cell phone ringing]
Amanda: Tad, um, it's Amanda. Is Jake there?
Amanda: But he doesn't wanna talk to me.
Tad: No, no. He's pretty upset.
Amanda: I love Jake. Please, will you just put him on the phone?
Tad: You know something, Amanda? If you really want to talk to Jake, why don't you get the hell out of there and come over here?
Ryan: It was a great -- great night.
Erica: It was a magical night.
[Slow music playing]
Singer: Light spilling on you you look like an angel a siren I'm drawn to but there's something about you now and I don't think I'll ever fall if I only believe something is happening is happening --
Zach: You should've asked me about this. You should've asked me before you sent this letter.
Liza: You told me to get her out of that place.
Zach: No one can go up to that prison.
Liza: All right, what is going on here? Zach, what are you not telling me?
Zach: Just let it go. And go home. Go.
Kendall: No. She needs to know the truth before she screws things up even more.
Liza: You're here?
Kendall: Yes, I'm here. And I've been here the whole time.
