Amanda: My baby? Where's my baby? Oh...
Tad: How is she?
Jake: She's not good. She's not good at all. Ahh... Tad, she's had, like, a meltdown since the baby was taken. She ripped into David. She alluded to the fact the baby was alive, then she blamed herself, and then...then they gave her a sedative.
Tad: Well, what about David?
Jake: I told him that it was postpartum, severe postpartum.
Tad: Did he buy it? I mean, does he think the baby --
Jake: The baby's alive? I hope not. But we just need to find the baby. Do we have anything? Do we have any leads at all?
Tad: No. And I don't have to tell you, the longer this thing goes, the worse our chances are.
Jake: Ah. Well, you're the P.I. I mean, we should just go to the cops.
Tad: We do, we're going to jail. But we may not have a choice. We need the help. Right now, Trevor could be anywhere.
Randi: It's Matthew. The baby. I don't know what to do. He's been crying. He doesn't want to eat, and he's definitely got a fever.
Natalia: Oh, he is hot.
Randi: What do I do?
Natalia: Uh, a cool bath?
Randi: You think?
Natalia: I don't know.
Randi: Natalia, he could be really sick.
Natalia: You're right. Call Frankie.
Frankie: I'm sorry you're having a bad time, but there's nothing I can do about it.
Madison: Like hell there isn't. You want to keep that hooker wife of yours out of jail, forget the insurance for now. You deliver some cash -- personally.
Frankie: Are you blackmailing me?
Madison: Oh, blackmail is such an ugly word.
Frankie: Yeah, and so are the people who do it.
J.R.: You know, it's true what they say. You really don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. And I know that better than anyone.
Marissa: Has something happened? What's wrong?
J.R.: Maybe what we should do is stop wasting so much time.
[J.R. kisses Marissa]
J.R.: You ok?
Marissa: This doesn't feel right. Where is all this coming from?
David: Something just doesn't add up. A door of that weight and size hitting you, not possible. The damage would be much more extensive, especially to the neck and shoulders, the spinal column. There would be bruising pattern on your neck and shoulders.
Liza: So what is it that you're saying?
David: Given the nature of your injury, I'd say that it was not a door that hit you but a person.
Liza: Well, that's -- that's just not possible.
David: I had my suspicions over at Slater's. Now they're confirmed. Your injuries are consistent with a localized blunt force trauma to the head.
Liza: Well, how can that be? There was nobody else in the house. It was just me and Zach.
Kendall: You say you love me. Prove it. If it's true, if your feelings never went away, then show me.
Zach: So we have sex and all our problems disappear? It's never worked before.
Kendall: The words aren't enough. I need to feel it. I need to feel you with me.
Zach: So we get in the bed together and that solves everything? You really believe that?
Madison: I just want what I'm owed.
Frankie: For the last time, keep my wife out of this.
Madison: Huh. How am I supposed to keep out of this the woman who murdered my husband? Hmm? I've kept my mouth shut for a while now because of one thing: That's the check that I've been expecting from my insurance company. Now that that's stalled --
Frankie: Hey, it's $10 million. It could take a while.
Madison: Do you know who my father is?
Frankie: I don't care who your father is.
Madison: Let's just say that money has never really been much of a concern of mine...until dear old father realized that his little girl liked to have fun.
Frankie: You mean get wasted and gamble.
Madison: Ok, given everything that I've had to put up with, it's a miracle that that's all I do. I deserve to have a little bit of fun. I have earned it. Now my father has the nerve to come in here and tell me to get a job.
Frankie: Oh, ho ho. Daddy's cutting you off. That's not my problem.
Madison: Do these hands look like they're cut out for work? Hmm? And why should they when I have another means of money?
Frankie: Look, you're wasting your time because these hands, they don't work either. I'm not operating. I don't have a doctor's salary right now.
Madison: Well, unless you want to see your wife modeling the latest prison couture, I suggest you find a way to get those hands on some cash, a lot of cash and quickly.
Frankie: Look, I can't help you.
Madison: Ok. So you might be on leave from the hospital, but I'm sure you have access to some supplies.
Frankie: You want me to steal drugs so that you can play blackjack? Forget it!
Madison: Ok, fine. Fine. I'll get my insurance payout when I report your wife to the police, the legitimate police, not your father.
Frankie: Hey, hey, what the hell is your problem with my family? Why don't you just leave us alone?
Madison: It's not personal. It's just business. You know, you're even more gorgeous when you're angry. Maybe you could compensate me with something besides cash. Huh?
[Cell phone rings]
Madison: Say hello to your wife for me.
Randi: Baby, you need to get home ASAP.
Frankie: What's wrong?
Randi: It's Matthew. He's not eating. I mean, he's been crying. Natalia and I can't seem to calm him down, and I'm just gonna lose it. I don't know what to do.
Frankie: Ok, listen to me, wrap the baby up in a blanket and take him to the hospital.
Randi: No. What, are you crazy? No. They'll start asking us a whole bunch of questions.
Frankie: No, they won't. Just -- when you get to the hospital, go straight to the fourth floor, to the old section. It's the overflow room. Nobody will be around. I'll meet you there.
Jake: I did this. I made this happen. I lost Amanda's baby.
Tad: You didn't lose him. He was taken 'cause I wasn't paying attention.
Jake: It was my idea from the beginning. Who does a plan like this? Who fakes a baby's death and tells a man that his kid didn't make it? I mean, that's bad karma.
Tad: Jake, you were trying to protect your son from Hayward.
Jake: I'm going to hell is what...what was I thinking?
Tad: That it was a good plan just like everybody else.
Jake: Listen to me, I'm gonna take full responsibility for this, ok?
Tad: So you're prepared to walk away from your job? Lose your medical license? Go to jail?
Jake: I don't really care what happens to me. Amanda needs to be with her boy.
Tad: All right, terrific. So she gets to her son back and watches her husband do hard time. That's really gonna make her happy.
Jake: She needs to be with her son, so if calling the police makes that happen any quicker, then that's what I'm doing.
Tad: No. It's what we're doing. Together.
Liza: Zach lied to me? That's your theory?
David: It's not a theory. It's a fact. It's all right here.
Liza: Ok, what possible reason do you think that Zach would have to lie to me about a head injury?
David: He's obviously covering for someone.
Liza: And who could that be?
Liza: Kendall's in prison and Erica is in Africa. Who else is there? I got it. I know who it is. Must have been Ian, right? He crawled out of his crib, and he saw me kissing Daddy, and he whacked me with a bottle.
David: You kissed Zach?
Liza: Listen, I -- I got a lot of work to do, so can we get on with my discharge papers, please?
David: Are you having an affair with Zach Slater?
Liza: No, I'm not. Zach is completely in love with Kendall. Besides, I'm a little busy. I am raising a baby, reconnecting with my daughter, and running a law practice. I'd also have to be crazy to go after a married man.
David: Yeah. It all makes sense. Then why did you kiss one?
Liza: I don't know. I guess I just felt sorry for him. You know, his wife's in prison, his kids are without their mom. Besides, you should talk. You kissed me out of nowhere.
David: All right, you know, whatever you and Zach were doing, that bump on your head came from a human being. Somebody snuck up from behind and knocked you out.
Liza: Except neither one of us can figure out who that might be.
David: How about Adam? I'm sure he's not too crazy with the fact that you're defending the woman who killed his brother.
Liza: No, Adam and I are actually on good terms. And so is Zach.
David: Oh, yeah, right. On what alternate universe?
Liza: It's true.
David: Yeah, yeah, ok, look. You and Adam reaching some sort of detente, that I can understand, ok? But Adam almost killed Zach's kid. He's never gonna get over that.
Liza: Well, he would if...
David: If what?
Liza: If he needed money. Look, Zach's casino got hit really hard with the recession, and Chandler Enterprises is bouncing back, so Zach asked Adam for a loan, and Adam said yes. Now can we get back to our diagnosis?
David: I already told you what happened.
Liza: Yeah, but you're wrong. There was no one else in the house. Ian was sleeping, and we were alone.
David: When I kissed you, you slapped me. What did Zach do when you kissed him?
David: Ha ha. Come on. He must have had some kind of reaction. Was he surprised, scared?
Liza: No. He didn't kiss me back if that's what you're asking.
Liza: So you think Zach was the one who hit me?
Zach: I asked you a question.
Kendall: Don't touch me.
Zach: I thought that's what you wanted.
Kendall: I wanted to make love, not be interrogated. So what, you can have sex with Liza but not me? How does that work?
Zach: Happened once a long time ago.
Kendall: She is always in our house. She comes and goes whenever she pleases. The two of you share your little secrets together, and you spend intimate moments together while I'm locked up in my prison cell.
Zach: Liza and I are working together to get you free.
Kendall: She quit, Zach. You could have hired any lawyer you wanted, but you had to get her back.
David: Liza knows this case better than anybody.
Kendall: Oh. Well, come on, please. This is not about my legal problems. This is about your problem with me and Ryan. You're still angry that the two of us were together, so this is the latest part of my punishment. What's next, Zach, huh? I mean, I've already seen the two of you kiss. What else? Answer me! How much longer do you plan to shove this woman in front of my face? You want me to admit it hurts? Fine. It hurts.
Zach: You know what I want? I want you to get a grip, because if you don't, you, me, Jesse, we're all gonna go to prison, and who's gonna take care of our boys?
Kendall: Don't lecture me, please.
Zach: Then think. You don't hit people over the head with a laptop. What's wrong with you? You could have killed her. And then you'd really be guilty of murder.
Kendall: I already am guilty. Maybe now you'll see that.
Zach: Stop saying that.
Kendall: No. Zach, come on. I ran Greenlee off the road. I shot Stuart. And now I've bashed Liza over the head. I belong in prison.
Zach: You belong here with your boys.
Kendall: Will you ever forgive me?
Zach: I'm gonna check on Liza. Keep writing your book.
Marissa: You're acting really weird, talking about how everything can change in a second, seize the moment, and then you're all over me. What's going on?
J.R.: How the hell should I know? Sometimes things just happen.
Marissa: Oh, that's not good enough.
J.R.: What, you want explanations, you want answers?
Marissa: Yeah, I --
J.R.: Yeah, well, too bad. I'm sorry.
Marissa: Look, you can...you can talk to me.
J.R.: Look, I am an angry guy. I always have been. It's never gonna change. You know, I wonder...what it would all add up to, the days, the months, the years that I spent raging against my father, against the world, and then I think about what I could have been doing instead.
Marissa: You did a lot. You married an amazing woman. You had a beautiful little son.
J.R.: No. Babe and I, we had our moments. Just didn't last. We were always like a roller coaster. Why couldn't I just stay the plan? And now she's gone, and all that anger, that anger is back, and it's stronger than ever.
Marissa: No, it's not...all anger. When you talk about Babe and when you visit her with Little A, there's so much more and so much love. Look, I know that it's hard but --
J.R.: Look, don't tell me how I feel, ok? You have no idea. Ever since Babe died, I've been wandering in the dark, and then you came, and it's been great, but it's been confusing as hell, and I've been fighting these feelings because -- because you're Babe's sister. But I can't fight forever.
Marissa: I'm not asking you to.
J.R.: I only want you. Now. Is that so wrong? You never know what's gonna happen tomorrow. I want you. I'm having a drink.
Marissa: No, no, don't!
Nurse: Excuse me. May I help you?
Natalia: Ah, no, thanks.
Nurse: There are hardly any patients up here. Are you sure you're in the right place?
Natalia: Yeah, I'm sure.
Natalia: Where have you been?
Natalia: Oh, come on. It is creepy up here.
Frankie: It's safe. Just stay out here and keep a lookout, ok?
Randi: Frankie, thank God
Frankie: How is he?
Randi: I think his fever's gotten worse since we left the house.
Frankie: Shh, it's ok. It's ok.
Randi: Frankie, he's gonna be ok, right? He's gonna be fine.
P.A.: Dr. Stone, to the night phone. Dr. Stone...
David: There's no loitering in my halls.
Zach: How's Liza?
David: Lucky. There was no serious damage, just a concussion. I'm keeping her for a while for observation.
Zach: Glad to hear it.
David: What the hell are you up to?
Kendall: "He was tense. The fight with his wife still fresh in his mind." He entered the casino. There she was." "One look, that's all it took."
[Stylus drags across record]
Kendall: Scratch that.
Kendall: "He entered the casino. There she was."
Singer: Travel back
Zach: I'm in love with you.
Singer: To see
[Stylus dragged across record]
Kendall: Hell no. Zach would never say that.
Kendall: "He entered the casino. There she was. He didn't say a word. He didn't have to."
Singer: I can see it's over
Kendall: Why, Zach? Why didn't you just walk away?
David: You're making deals with Adam Chandler? Feeding Liza a bunch of lies? What's going on?
Zach: My business. None of your concern. You think I lied to Liza?
David: She got hit over the head by a door? I mean, come on, we both know that's not true, now Liza does, too.
Zach: What do you think happened, Doctor?
David: Well, your wife goes away for good. You're stuck at home with two screaming kids, the pressure is building, the anger. Liza shows up. You don't mean to do it, but you got to release all that tension, so you hit her. Is that what it's come down to, Zach, your wife goes away for life, and you're out here taking it out on other women?
Zach: You should stop talking now.
David: Or what? You're gonna crack me over the skull, too?
Zach: You think I hurt Liza, you should call the cops. You believe Hayward? You think I hit you?
Liza: Ah...no. No. Um, he just was telling me that the, you know, the MRI was saying that it couldn't have been a door. It had to have been a person, and, you know, since you were the only one there --
Zach: It was a door. It fell. That's what happened.
Zach: You ok?
Liza: Yeah, yeah. David got to me. Just a little off my game.
Zach: It's all right.
Kendall: "She wanted him."
Kendall: "So she took what she wanted, but it didn't belong to her."
[Stylus drags across record]
Kendall: No. We can do better than that.
[Stylus drags across record]
Kendall: No, that's too over the top.
Zach: I love my wife.
Frankie: All right, all right. He's gonna be ok. It's viral.
Randi: But why hasn't he stopped crying?
Frankie: Well, his throat hurts, so it's hard for him to swallow.
Randi: What? Well, when did that start?
Frankie: I don't know how long he's had it or where he got it from, but he needs to get treatment now.
Randi: Ok, do whatever you need to do.
Frankie: Ok, he needs some fluids, an I.V.
Frankie: Don't worry. Everything's gonna be just fine, ok?
Liza: So who are my son's real parents?
P.A.: Dr. Meadow, 2-9-4-5. Dr. Meadow...
Liza: Yeah. I know that my child is not David and Amanda's, so who are the real parents? Look at me, not him.
Jake: It was a private adoption. The birth mother never wanted to be identified. That's all.
Liza: So why didn't you tell me about this?
Tad: 'Cause he was trying to protect everybody involved.
Liza: You know you had no right to lie to me about this. This is my child we're talking about.
Jake: Yes. That's -- that's what's important, isn't it? It's your child. Now and forever your child.
Liza: So have you found Amanda's baby?
Jake: Oh, my God. You can't keep your mouth shut, can you?
Tad: I thought she could help. The baby's still missing.
Liza: Oh, poor Amanda. She must be going out of her mind.
Jake: Yes, she's a little upset. I gave her a sedative. She's resting in her room.
Liza: Listen, is there anything that I can do?
Jake: Yeah, you can pray... the baby's not halfway around the world or hopefully alive.
Tad: We'll find him, Jake.
Jake: I'm so cocky. What gives me the right to be so cocky? Switching babies and fooling Hayward, thinking everything's under control. I just -- all I wanted was for Amanda to be with her child. That's all I wanted. And now she's probably never gonna be with him again ever.
Liza: Hey, listen, when I found out that you switched the baby, I was a little shocked. But the truth of the matter is that is really doesn't matter who the parents are, because I have a beautiful, healthy, fantastic son, and it's because of you. So listen, you put my son in my arms. I know that you are gonna find Amanda's baby. Ok?
Jake: I better go check on her.
Jake: Honey? Honey? Amanda?
[Amanda's not in her bed]
Natalia: Hey, how's the baby?
Frankie: He'll be fine but I got to get an I.V., though.
Natalia: But wait. What if the baby's mother was in high school --
Frankie: Ok, look, I really have to --
Natalia: Help the baby, I know. But look, that baby is not yours, and it doesn't belong to Randi. As a matter of fact, the real parents are still out there. I'm not gonna stop looking, Frankie. It's the right thing to do.
Frankie: Ok, so what if the mother was in high school and --
Natalia: Hid her pregnancy, had her baby on the low, and is too scared to tell anyone?
Frankie: I guess it's possible.
Natalia: Look, I'm gonna go to the station and do some research...unless you need me to stick around.
Frankie: No. We're good. Hey, thanks for being so great with Randi. We have the best sister there is to have.
Natalia: And don't forget it, and don't forget the more you let Randi bond with that baby, the harder it's going to be when the real parents come.
[Amanda hears the baby crying]
Amanda: We're coming, baby. Mommy's coming.
Kendall: Is Liza ok?
Zach: She'll be fine.
Kendall: So what's -- what's going on?
Zach: I, uh...I've made a decision.
Zach: I don't see any other choice. I have to follow my heart. I'm leaving you for Liza.
[Kendall deletes what she just wrote]
Kendall: Is Liza ok?
Zach: She'll be fine.
Kendall: So what's -- what's going on?
Zach: We keep doing this, fighting, hurting each other. Come on. I want to forgive you. Can you forgive me? I'm flawed.
Kendall: You're not flawed. You're incredible.
[Kendall kisses Zach in her imagination]
Marissa: You keep talking about the end. We're young. Life is just beginning.
J.R.: What life? What accomplishments?
Marissa: You have accomplished plenty.
J.R.: Name one thing that I've done well.
Marissa: Easy. Little A.
J.R.: No. All the good that's in him, that came from Babe.
Marissa: Ok, look, Babe's dead. So now that little boy is looking to you. What are you gonna do about it? Feel sorry for yourself? Get drunk? Or step up, be there for him when he needs you, because he will need you at every important moment of his life.
J.R.: I can't hold Little A's hand through everything. He has to learn to toughen up and do things on his own.
Marissa: Sure, some things in time.
J.R.: I mean, look at you. You're making it happen on your own.
Marissa: Without my parents, you mean?
J.R.: Yeah. I mean, you miss them, but you're ok, right?
Marissa: Not a day goes by that I don't wish that I could pick up the phone and call them, just hear their voices, ask their advice, especially my father. No matter how old you get, you never stop needing your father.
J.R.: Look, what I'm trying to say is everything in my life I've taken for granted -- relationships, opportunities. I've let so many things pass me by, and I'm not gonna let you pass me by, too.
Marissa: I understand being in the moment, now more than ever since I got shot, but there is a difference between being in the now and being impulsive. You can't just go with every urge that you have. And you definitely can't go with the urge to drink.
J.R.: That's gone. I fought it off.
Marissa: What about the urge to have sex?
J.R.: Huh. That never goes away.
Marissa: I'm serious. Why do I have the feeling that that wasn't really about me?
J.R.: It was. It is.
Marissa: There's something else going on. Whatever it is, you can tell me.
J.R.: I have to go.
Amanda: I'm coming. Hold on.
Amanda: Trevor, oh, my God. Trevor. Trevor, hey! Hi, baby, it's Mommy. I'm here, ok? It's gonna be ok. Uh! Oh, my God. Let me in! Hey! Ok, ok, ok. I'll get Jake. Jake's gonna help us. Jake's gonna make it better, ok? I'm gonna be right back, ok? I'm gonna be right back. Ok, ok. Jake! Jake! Help! Our baby! He's here in...
[Randi opens the door but Amanda's run off]
Amanda: Have you seen Jake? Dr. Martin?
Nurse: No, sorry.
David: Amanda, are you all right?
Amanda: No. I need Jake! Get away from me! Where's Jake?
Randi: We need to get out of here right now.
Randi: I went to the bathroom, and when I came out, Amanda was here.
Frankie: In the room?
Randi: No, no. I locked the door, but she was outside, and she didn't see me, but she definitely saw Matthew. She ran off screaming like some loony that she found her baby.
Frankie: Her baby died in childbirth. She must be having delusions.
Randi: I feel bad for her, but, Frankie, we need to get out of here now before she tells somebody that we're here.
Tad: Jake, she was sedated. She couldn't have got very far.
Jake: Should never have left her alone.
Amanda: I found him. I found him.
Jake: Honey, where were you? Are you ok?
Amanda: Did you hear what I said? I said I found our son.
Jake: Well, why don't we get you to lie down?
Amanda: Look, do you hear what I said? He's here. He's here, but he's all alone, and he's sick. You have to help him.
Jake: Let's get her settled in the bed.
Amanda: Do you -- if you do not help him, I will find someone who will.
Tad: Look, sometimes when you're upset, your mind plays tricks --
Amanda: He is here. Jake, he is in this hospital. I will show you.
Tad: J.R. You come to see Marissa?
J.R.: Uh, no. She was released.
Tad: Well, she's ok, then?
Tad: Well, good. Well, why are you here?
J.R.: I'm having some tests done.
Tad: Tests? For what?
J.R.: I'm not sure. Angie insisted she wants to do a whole bunch of them. I really didn't want to, but...look, I don't really want anybody to know.
Tad: Well, that's fine. You have my word. Just tell me exactly what Angie said.
J.R.: I think I have cancer.
Amanda: I'm telling you, Trevor is in this room. See for yourself. No. No! He was here! He was right here! I saw him! I heard him crying! Oh.
Jake: Honey, let's -- let's go back downstairs, ok? Let's just go back --
Amanda: No. I am not crazy! I am not delusional! He was right here! The sheets... they still smell like him. He was right here. He was right here. He was right here... please, you have to believe me. [Sobbing]
Frankie: Ah, thanks for getting here so fast.
Natalia: Well, what happened?
Frankie: Amanda found us in the hospital. She saw the baby, so we brought him home.
Natalia: Is he ok?
Frankie: Finally fell asleep. Randi's with him in the bedroom. Look, you got any luck on your school girl angle?
Natalia: No. I'd just gotten to the station when you called. I mean, I haven't even started yet.
Frankie: Good, 'cause we got to hold off finding Matthew's parents.
Natalia: No. I told you I'm not gonna stop looking for the parents, Frankie.
Frankie: Don't stop. Get help. Ok, look, you were right. We're way in over our heads. We got to bring Dad in on this, ok?
Natalia: I was right? What made you change your mind?
Frankie: I'm worried about Randi. The truth about this baby, it almost came out today, and when it does, Randi's gonna be in big trouble.
[Randi overhears the conversation]
Liza: I was just leaving.
David: How long have you been in love with Zach Slater?
Liza: I'm incapable of love, remember?
David: I already told you I was wrong about that.
Liza: I'm not in love with Zach, and I resent you trying to convince me that he was the one who hit me. What was that, huh? You jealous?
David: And what if I am? What if I want to be the only man to kiss you?
Liza: You know what you can kiss.
David: Huh. You know, I just cannot figure you out.
Liza: Don't bother.
David: Zach Slater is devoid of emotion, he's incapable of communicating. Is that really the kind of man that you want? So what is it? I mean, is it the challenge, the thrill of chasing the forbidden?
Liza: Listen, if I was into dark, difficult men, I'd be all over you. But you, huh, I despise you. Yeah. See you around.
[Footsteps over monitor]
Kendall: Is Liza ok?
Zach: She'll live.
[Zach abruptly leaves Kendall's secret room]
