Colby: Ok, they don't always have to burp, you know? Only if they swallow air.
Pete: No, I -- I know. I can tell he does.
Colby: You've been trying for, like, 10 minutes now. He's probably just getting sick from being bounced around like a basketball.
Pete: See? I told you.
Colby: Uh, yeah. I think I was right about that burp cloth. Your shirt is a mess. Hold still. I'll get something to clean you up.
Pete: Oh, no. Not cool, man. You're supposed to give me a warning.
Liza: Hey, I'm so sorry that I am late. How is my baby?
Colby: He's doing great. He just puked all over Pete, but --
Pete: Yeah. Here you go.
Liza: Oh, gosh. Oh, I am so sorry. Oh, baby. Yeah -- oh, where did these come from?
Colby: The card says they're from David. They're pretty, huh?
Liza: No, they aren't.
[Liza throws the bouquet into the trash can]
Taylor: Well, thanks anyway.
Taylor: No abandoned babies checked in here for the past month.
Tad: How could you find that out without arousing suspicion?
Taylor: I told her I was freelancing for a magazine, doing an article on unwanted children.
Tad: That's good. That's sneaky.
Taylor: Oh, I'm good at sneaky. The CIA tried to recruit me once.
Tad: Why'd you turn them down?
Taylor: Who says I did? Any sign of David?
Tad: No. But he's around.
Taylor: What about Jake and Amanda?
Tad: Still up in Gloucester watching that pay phone. Overdue to check in.
Taylor: You know, Tad, I've been thinking. If David is the one that took Trevor, he must have help. It's unlikely that he would stash the child somewhere without supervision.
Tad: He's got plenty of money. He could always afford accomplices.
Taylor: But that's the good scenario. What if it's not David? What if a stranger picked him up and took him?
Tad: No, it's David. It's got to be.
Randi: You don't understand, Natalia. I was lost. Before I found him, nothing -- everything disappeared: My marriage, my life. And then I found him. Please don't take him away from me. Please. Just don't take him away.
Natalia: Randi, I'm glad that he's helped you. I know how tough it's been since the miscarriage, and I'm so sorry. But the authorities? They are not gonna let you keep this baby. It just doesn't work like that. You know that, don't you? Don't you?
Frankie: Is it true? Did Randi kill Henry North?
Jesse: I'm sorry. Yeah. She killed him. And I covered it up.
Tad: Jake, it's me. Anything? No, nothing here either. How's Amanda doing? Well, tell her we're doing everything we can down here.
David: Hi. It's David. Is your mom there?
Colby: Sorry. My mom can't come to the phone right now.
David: Did my delivery get there?
Colby: Yeah. But she doesn't want to talk to you.
David: You're absolutely right. I should be doing this in person. I'll be there in about 20 minutes.
Taylor: You just missed David.
Taylor: He was there. He was on the phone. I -- I heard him ask someone if they'd gotten "the delivery."
Tad: That -- that's impossible. Jake and Amanda have been watching that phone up in Massachusetts. Nobody's gone anywhere near it.
Taylor: Well, they're probably in the wrong place, because he said he'd be there in 20 minutes.
Tad: How's he gonna get to Massachusetts in 20 minutes?
Taylor: He's not. What are we going to do?
Tad: Uh, you go see Opal, ok? I'm gonna go watch after David.
Liza: Colby, why didn't you just tell him no and to leave me alone?
Colby: Because as much as I want to help out with the baby, I'm not your social secretary. Call him back and tell him yourself.
Liza: I'm sorry. I -- I didn't mean that. I will take care of it. Listen, I appreciate you guys hanging out with Stuart.
Pete: My pleasure. It's good practice for when I become a father, you know, if I ever get married, you know?
Colby: It's time to go. I'll be back, ok?
Liza: Thank you for everything.
Liza: I couldn't have done it without you.
Pete: Well, good night. Good night, little guy.
Colby: Good night.
Liza: Here's your bottle. Hi. Oh. I'm so sorry I haven't been around as much as I -- I should be. It's just it's been really crazy. You know, Mommy's been working nonstop. That's really no excuse, is it? I promised that I would be there for you. I promised myself and I promised you. God. How did I get involved in all this? This is drama. I'm trying to be the best mom I can. I really am. God help me. I'm -- I'm trying. Hang in there with me. Yeah?
Natalia: The longer you're with him, the more attached you're gonna get and the harder it's gonna be when you have to give him up. And you are gonna have to give him up, Randi. This little boy has a mother and father out there somewhere. We don't know why he was left, but they still might be out there looking for him.
Randi: I just want to be with him a little while longer, ok? I just want to feel him, take his hand and grab my finger, and I just want to feel him in my arms. I want to feel what I almost had. You know, you might be wrong about those parents. And you said it yourself: There are no missing baby reports.
Randi: Maybe they left him at the church, because they wanted someone to find him who could take care of him, who could truly love him. Why can't that be Frankie and me?
Jesse: I've been doing everything I can to protect Randi. What happened was not her fault. She just got caught up in something that just blew way out of control. And it took a really, really bad turn.
Frankie: I want to know everything.
Jesse: Henry North was an old client of Randi's. And after a while, it became more than just business between the two of them. She left him long before she met you. But he was still obsessed with her. And when they ran into each other at the hospital, he pressured her into renewing their relationship. She declined. He made threats.
Angie: What kind of threats?
Jesse: He said that he would make things very difficult for me, for you, and for Kendall. So Randi takes it upon herself to go to D.C. to try to convince him to leave us alone. He had other ideas. He tried to force himself on her. Now, she fights back. But he's determined to take what he wants. He attacked her, and Randi fights back. In the struggle, she reaches out for something to stop him. She hits him in the head with it. He drops, and then she realizes she killed him.
Frankie: North tried to rape my wife, and you -- and you kept that from me?
Jesse: Everything I did, I did to protect my family, your wife, your baby.
Taylor: Tad just hopes you'll understand.
Opal: What, that he has to be out looking for a lost baby instead of handholding me? I mean, what's not to understand? Is there any news from Jake and Amanda?
Taylor: No luck, so far.
Opal: Oh, why did I ever open my big, fat trap. It was the worst idea I ever had in my whole life: Dropping a baby off outside of a church.
Taylor: Stop. You -- you're getting out of the hospital tonight, and here you are getting all stressed out again.
Opal: But, you know, if I should've just said to that big old mother hen Joe that, to let me be, I could've gotten to that baby on time. If only I had just stood my ground...
Taylor: We should never have involved you in the first place. You did all you could. Please don't get upset.
Opal: But, you know, now they think that maybe David has his hands on that baby. And if he does, oh, God help us all.
[Knock on door]
Liza: Didn't you get the hint from Colby? I don't want to see you.
David: I just thought I'd stop by to see if you liked the flowers.
Liza: Well, yes. I found a perfect way to display them. Now, please go.
David: You know, you're absolutely right. Flowers were the cowardly way out. I should've come back immediately and apologized for what I said last time I was here.
Liza: That I'm incapable of love and no man will ever make me happy?
David: Yeah. I was angry at being rejected.
Liza: So that's the way you react to a woman who doesn't fall into your arms after you kiss her?
David: No, not every woman. Just one like you. And despite what you thought, I was not here to see your son. I came here to see you. And I behaved very badly, so I'm sorry.
Liza: Hmm. Well, maybe I reacted the way I did because you're right: I am incapable of loving anyone.
Angie: How did you become involved? I mean, did Randi call you for help?
Jesse: No. Remember, I went to D.C. to talk to Henry, tell him I was sick and tired of his games and to tell him that I was gonna resign, try to force his hand. Well, I walked in the room, and there's Randi standing over his body, freaking out. The poor thing didn't know what to do. She was scared to death that you would find out and what you would think if you found out about it.
Angie: So you decided to make it look like a car accident?
Jesse: Yeah. I hid the body under one of those room service carts and took it down to the parking lot and drove him and the car out to a road near a really steep drop-off. And then I pushed the car over the edge.
Jesse: And so we -- we came back to Pine Valley and we tried to, um -- I don't know -- make it all seem like everything was normal. How could it be normal after that? How could it ever be... for Randi? For me? Ohh.
Frankie: Why didn't you just call the D.C. police? It's obviously self-defense.
Jesse: I know, I know, I know. I, um -- it was the first thing that my gut told me to do. But come on. Think of what an investigation like that would be: Randi, an ex-hooker, killing a prominent D.A. With her history, her record, the history between the two of them. Prosecution would eat that up. They'd spin it as a murder of revenge or desperation. There was too big a chance she would go to jail. Carrying your baby? No, I'm sorry. I made a -- I made a decision. I made a decision. I made a decision.
Angie: To lie, even to us.
Jesse: I decided I was gonna do whatever I had to do to protect Randi, to protect my family. What would you have done?
Frankie: It's a little late in the game to be asking me for my opinion.
Frankie: You and Randi shut me out completely. And because of you if Randi gets caught now, there's no longer just a chance of conviction. Both of you go away for a long time!
Angie: Neither one of us knows what we would've done had we been there. You did what you thought best.
Jesse: I didn't tell you because I didn't want to implicate either one of you in this crime.
Frankie: But why didn't Randi tell me? What does that say about the two of us?
Jesse: It says that the woman loves you more than you realize. Come on. You were still in the hospital. She was still dealing with the impact your injuries had on your marriage. And, Frankie, she -- she just found out that she was pregnant. The last thing she wanted to do was dump all of this on you, too.
Frankie: I would've helped her.
Jesse: She is a very strong and independent woman. Obviously, she thought she could handle this guy on her own. And she had to think about your baby.
Frankie: But the baby's gone. Why couldn't she tell me after the miscarriage?
Jesse: I just wanted it to all go away.
Angie: But it hasn't. It's only gotten worse.
Jesse: Because of Madison North.
Frankie: Yeah, well, she's the one who told me.
Frankie: She came by tonight and told me that Randi killed Henry North and that if I didn't believe her, I should talk to you.
Angie: Is Madison guessing? How much does she really know?
Natalia: It's possible. I mean, you and Frankie could end up keeping him, as long as we are 100% positive that his parents aren't out there somewhere looking for him.
Randi: Don't worry. I don't plan on doing anything against the law. And I don't plan on hiding this baby, especially not from Frankie. I am not crazy.
Randi: Ok? I'm not gonna be the only one making decisions. That's not a marriage. Frankie has to be on board with this, as well.
Natalia: Good. Good. And I'm gonna help you as much as I can, ok?
Randi: Thank you. Oops. Can you say, "Thank you, Auntie Natalia"? Yes, you can. Yes.
David: You're just trying to make me feel worse for having said it. I already told you I was being a jerk. There's no way you're incapable of loving someone else.
Liza: Uh, you don't know anything about me anymore, David.
David: Well, I do know that you're still a very determined, very beautiful woman, someone who wants it all: Career, success, family, respect. I also know that when you walk into a room, the place comes alive. Now, that's not an act. Either you have it or you don't, and you have it. It's an energy, a force to be reckoned with. Now, is it possible for someone with those kind of qualities to be so incapable of something so human and simple as loving someone else? I don't think so.
Liza: Smooth, Doctor. Very smooth. But I have looked long and hard into the mirror, and I know the truth about myself, so no flattery or flowers is gonna change that.
David: Well, maybe you haven't met the right man.
Liza: Maybe it's late, and I'm going to say good night. Apology accepted.
David: I appreciate it.
Liza: Well, there you go. There's a little life lesson for you. The ones you want you can't have and the ones you don't send you flowers.
[Knock on door]
Liza: I told you that I'm exhausted.
Tad: You want to tell me what the hell that was about?
Opal: Thank you. Oh. You've just been so helpful through all of this.
Taylor: Oh, well, I just want to bring that baby home safe and sound. I spent a lot of time with that little boy. I can't get him out of my head now.
Opal: I think Tad has grown pretty fond of you, too.
Taylor: We've become good friends.
Opal: Would you indulge me with a little favor?
Taylor: Ok. Name it.
Opal: Can I take a peek at your palms?
Taylor: You mean read my palms, don't you?
Opal: Oh, I see my reputation precedes me.
Taylor: Ok, here's my disclaimer. I don't happen to believe in all that predestiny stuff, ok? I believe we make our own destinies.
Opal: Well, we can. But we can also be influenced by certain forces one way or the other. But if this makes you uncomfortable, really, I understand.
Taylor: Uncomfortable? No. Please. Go right ahead.
Opal: Ah. Well, are you right-handed or left?
Opal: Ok. Ohh!
Taylor: What?! What is it? What do you see?
Opal: But I thought you didn't believe.
Taylor: You are wicked.
Opal: Ha ha ha! I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist. All right. Let me take a look for real this time. Mm-hmm. You are one amazing woman, aren't you?
Liza: What the hell's the matter with you, Tad?
Tad: David. He was here for a while. What did he want?
Liza: Why are you following me now?
Tad: I'm not following you, ok? I'm following David. I came from the hospital.
Tad: Liza, just -- God. It's -- it's complicated, all right? Let's just leave it at that.
Liza: Wait. Does this have to do with my baby? Come on, Tad. If he is after Stuart, you have to have to let me know. Oh, God. That's it, isn't it? David knows the truth. He knows that this is Amanda's baby?
Tad: No. Actually, it's quite the opposite.
Liza: What -- what do you mean?
Tad: I got to go after Hayward.
Liza: No, you're not going anywhere until you tell me what is going on.
Tad: Liza, that's not David and Amanda's baby.
Liza: How can this not be Amanda and David's baby?
Tad: Liza, I'm sorry, ok? You were never supposed to know about any of this. But considering the fact that Jake's plan has gone from bad to worse, I think as your friend, the least I owe you is the truth.
Liza: Ok. What is the truth?
Tad: It all started with Amanda. Jake realized there was no way she was gonna be willing to be separated from her son once he was born, but he had promised him to you. In a way, this is kind of your fault because you threatened him. You insisted on adopting Amanda's baby. So he was down one kid, so he went out and found another.
Liza: Another kid?
Liza: This is really not Amanda's baby?
Liza: Who's the birth mother?
Tad: I have no idea. It was a whole private adoption thing. I just want you to be sure about one thing, ok? No matter where that baby comes from, he is 100% yours. You are his mama. Nobody is coming to take him away.
Liza: Who else knows about this?
Tad: A few. At the rate things are going, pretty soon it's gonna be half of Pine Valley. See, Jake was right about Amanda. She couldn't stand being separated from her kid. It was driving her crazy. So to make her feel better, he took her out to wherever the baby was being cared for. Well, yada, yada, yada. One thing led to another, and Taylor found out about it. And we thought it would be a good idea for Taylor to take care of the baby to keep everything on the down-low, you know, while they were figuring out what we should do with "A," "B," "C," "D," or wherever the hell else we were.
Liza: So Taylor has the baby?
Tad: No, not really. See -- well, she did have the baby until Mama came by. And bless her little warped mind, she had the idea that maybe she should find the baby on the stairs of the church. You know, that way Jake and Amanda could adopt him later on and nobody would be any the wiser. I mean, this plan had everything going for it except Wile E. Coyote in a box with "Acme" printed on it.
Liza: So where's the baby now?
Tad: If you told me, we'd both know, Liza.
Liza: He's missing?
Tad: Somebody took him.
Tad: Yeah. I just -- before Mama could make her entrance, stage right, somebody came in, found the baby, and exited, stage left.
Liza: Oh, God. Poor Amanda.
Tad: You don't know the half of it. She's a wreck -- we all are -- which brings us back to David. See, we think there's a chance that he's the one that has the baby. So would you please tell me what he was doing here?
Liza: No. He -- he just -- he came over. He hit on me. I told him I wasn't interested.
Tad: I want you to think. Is there anything that David said or did that you thought was unusual?
Liza: Well, he said he wasn't interested in my baby and that he just came over to see me.
Tad: Well, see, why would he feel like that? He's always been obsessed with Stuart. I mean, why would there be a sudden change unless he knew the truth? Unless he really did have Trevor?
Opal: I see your lifeline is straight and goes clear to the edge of your palm there. That means that you are cautious in relationships. But you see this here? This line means that you have got the strength to overcome any obstacle that life puts in your path.
Taylor: Hmm. Well, where does it say in my palm that I'm such an amazing woman?
Opal: Oh, I didn't see that in your palm. I see that in your eyes. You have the possibility of greatness, Taylor. Great success, great love. You just got to stay true to yourself. Don't let anybody convince you otherwise. And you got wonderful things in store for you, girlfriend.
Angie: How did Madison know what happened?
Jesse: Madison has always known about her husband's infidelities, and somehow she got her hands on the hotel security tapes -- the ones that incriminate me moving the body out of the room.
Frankie: Why did Madison stay quiet? Why didn't she turn you in?
Jesse: Money. Not from me, her insurance policy. It's a $10 million policy. She pressured me into closing the case in order to expedite the payout.
Angie: Which I put a stop to when I looked into the coroner's report.
Jesse: You didn't realize.
Angie: Because I wasn't told.
Frankie: She's been torturing Randi, hasn't she? She approached us at the Yacht Club one day. I remember because Randi was upset.
Jesse: I need you two to promise me that you will let me and me alone handle Madison North.
Frankie: Yeah, but what about Randi? We got to find her.
Jesse: I think we may already have. We ran a trace on one of her credit card charges to a motel. I sent somebody to check it out.
[When the police search Randi's room, it's empty]
Angie: Where do you think she's gone?
Jesse: I have no idea. She couldn't have gotten far. They just missed her at the Pine Cone Motel. She's scared. It's been difficult keeping this secret from Frankie.
Angie: What about you? How difficult has it been for you keeping this secret from me?
Jesse: Come on, baby. You know, it's been hell. But I couldn't pull you and Frankie into this.
Angie: How did you think we could stay out of it?
Jesse: What I did right or wrong could have lifetime consequences for whoever knows about this. It's bad enough living with this myself, trying to help Randi deal. But, baby, I couldn't -- I couldn't do it to you.
Angie: I'm not questioning what you did. I understand your reasoning for protecting Randi. And I think you were right about what would've happened if you had called in the police. The truth would've been difficult to prove. But what about the truth between you and me?
Jesse: What, you don't believe me, that I did what I did to protect you?
Angie: After you came home to me after those long 20 years, you promised, no more secrets. And along came Rebecca and Natalia and another secret. When does it stop? When can I start believing in you again?
Jesse: I did the best I could. Baby, I made decisions that I thought would keep you all safe.
Angie: I know that. But we're supposed to be in this together, you and me. We're supposed to share everything. I would rather risk going to jail than to destroy all the trust between us!
Natalia: He's probably out looking for you.
Randi: I hope he understands. Listen, Natalia, thanks so much. You know, thank you for being here for me. You've just been so wonderful.
Natalia: Huh. Well, you are gonna wait for Frankie, right? Listen, I have to go to the hospital and the police station to check out missing baby reports.
Randi: Yeah, don't worry. I'm not gonna run off again. I mean, he needs a diaper change, and he needs to be fed, and he needs a good night's rest.
Natalia: Well, I'm sure Frankie will be home soon. Hey, little man.
Natalia: You're doing the right thing, all right? I'll see you soon.
David: Leaving so soon without saying good-bye?
Opal: I got nothing to say to you.
David: You must be eager to get home. Is Amanda picking you up? The poor thing's had a real tough time lately.
Opal: Why don't you just zip it? You did enough to her before she lost that baby with hounding her all the time the way you did. Just leave her be and let her get back to her life.
David: What, no sympathy for me? That was my baby, too, you know. And I lost that baby right after losing another one with Krystal just a few short months after losing Babe. But I guess nobody around here gives a damn about my feelings, right?
Opal: I am sorry for the loss of any child. But the way a man deals with his tragedy speaks volumes about his character. So why would anybody care about your feelings when you never gave a damn about anybody else's?
Liza: Well, how would he have done it? I mean, he certainly couldn't have done it by himself.
Tad: No, no, no. He definitely had help. As a matter of fact, we found a phone number that he's been calling a lot. It's in Massachusetts. It's from a pay phone at a bar. That's where Jake and Amanda are right now. They're staking the place out to see who turns up. The most important thing is that this has to be played on the down-low. David cannot know anything.
Liza: I just feel so bad for Amanda. Listen, if there's anything that I can do or...
Tad: Well, actually, there is, if you have the stomach for it, and I'm not talking about a pillow this time. You see, if Hayward really does have the baby, we need to find out somehow, which means we need to get somebody close to him.
Tad: Yeah. See what I mean?
Liza: Yeah. All right. I'm gonna do it. If it's to help Amanda get her baby back, whatever I have to do I will do.
Tad: Well, let's just pray it's nothing drastic, ok?
[Tad leaves and Liza talks to her baby]
Liza: You are really mine. You are really mine. Nobody is going to steal you away. Ohh. What was I thinking saying I was incapable of love? I've got the man of my dreams right here. I love you so much. So much.
[Liza chuckles softly]
Tad: How's Opal?
Taylor: Hey. She's doing well. Pete is taking her home. What happened with David? Did you find the baby?
Tad: I'm fairly sure he does have Trevor.
Taylor: Ok, at this point, I really feel like we should go to the police.
Tad: We can't.
Taylor: We should go to the police --
Tad: No, we can't. Jake and Amanda faked a baby's death. They would be arrested for forging a death certificate. If it does come to that, we have to have solid proof that he does have Trevor.
David: Sounding much better. You're free to go home.
Opal: Get me out of here.
Opal: I am not an invalid, all right? Let's just go.
Pete: Jeez, what's the matter with you?
Opal: I see dead people everywhere I look. Come on.
Natalia: Um, hi. Yes. Is this the Missing Person's desk? Hello, Detective. This is Natalia fowler with the Pine Valley Police Department. Yes, I was wondering if there have been any missing babies reported in the last 24 hours.
Jesse: It's all starting to come apart. This may have been the biggest mistake I've ever made.
Angie: It wasn't. It was the right thing to do. The only mistake was keeping it a secret from me. But right now, we have to focus on our family, finding Randi, and letting her know that we understand what happened and that we'll protect her, do whatever we can to keep it buried, because we have to get past this, get back what we had.
Jesse: I'm so sorry.
Frankie: Thank God you're back. Ohh. Hey, I know, Randi. I've talked to Dad. I know about what happened with Henry North.
Randi: You do?
Frankie: But it's gonna be ok. Everything is gonna work out, ok? I love you so much...
Frankie: What's that?
Randi: Our baby.
