Jake: Well, well. I'm sure that we're gonna be able to come up with plenty of activities while we are waiting to adopt this little one. Like a good game of raspberry? Hmm? Peek-a-boo? Your mother loves peek-a-boo. And kisses. 100,000 kisses.
Amanda: Oh, I just can't wait until we can do this without sneaking around behind closed doors and drawn blinds.
Jake: Patience, baby. Patience.
Amanda: Well, as long as we get lots of raspberries and peek-a-boo and lots and lots of kisses with our son.
Jake: "Our son." I like the sound of that.
Tad: You play your cards right, you'll experience my technique up close and personal.
Taylor: Tad --
Tad: First, we got to get back to the baby.
Krystal: What baby?
Taylor: Krystal's here.
Tad: And looking like a million bucks. Wow. Isn't this just a little demolition derby?
Krystal: Is it -- is it Jenny? Is she -- is she ok?
Tad: I mean, yeah, she's fine. She's -- well, you know, other than the fact that Opal's teaching her how to read tea leaves.
Krystal: What -- what baby were you talking about?
Tad: The baby I done left behind.
Man: Are you right there out on the boat?
J.R.: All right, so we put this on here like this, and we put it into the water, and we catch a fish. Whoa, it's a big one! It's a big one! Whoo!
Marissa: I'd bite.
Little Adam: Aunt Marissa!
Marissa: Hey, Little A.
J.R.: Hey, Kirk? Think you can come give my son a lesson? Show him how it's really done?
Kirk: Definitely, Mr. Chandler. Come on, little guy.
J.R.: Thanks. So court's out already, huh?
Marissa: Only because Kendall escaped.
Marissa: Yeah. The old "out the restroom window" trick.
J.R.: Well, good. I hope she stays gone. And I hope that D.A. wakes up and finally finds Uncle Stuart's real killer.
Annie: This is real, right? I'm not gonna wake up in some jail cell?
Adam: Nope, nope. You're home. Annie, I can't tell you how sorry I am that I doubted you. Um, I'll prove it. We'll start fresh today. No looking back. Now is all that matters to us. Can you possibly forgive me?
[Adam and Annie kiss]
Scott: I should've knocked.
Adam: Huh? No, no, no. I'm -- I'm glad you could make it.
Scott: You said it was important.
Adam: Yes, it's very important. I want you to move in with us.
Jesse: If you're in on this --
Liza: Don't come at me!
Jesse: Not that big a leap, is it? You ran with Colby, hid out for years. Why not advise your client to do the same thing?
Liza: Ok. I still pay for that stupid move. And just for the record, I told Kendall that she would have her day in court, and we would win.
Jesse: Well, you'll get your day in court. But the winning part? Odds on that kind of just went out the window.
Liza: Ugh! Ugh! Agh! [Gasps] Oh, God!
[In a fit of rage, Liza swings her briefcase and hits David in the face]
Liza: Oh, my God, I didn't see you. Oh, my God, you're bleeding.
David: Heh heh heh!
Liza: Oh, I'm so sorry.
David: It's all right. It's all right. It's all right. I'll -- I'll live.
Liza: Well, it was --
David: You pack one hell of a wallop with that thing.
Liza: Well, it was either that or my client. And, well, my client's, um --
David: What? Is there a problem?
Liza: Yeah. Well, Kendall took off.
Liza: Yeah. I could've gotten her acquitted. And now when she is caught -- and she will be caught -- she's going to prison.
Zach: Hey, hey, what are you still doing here? I had to shake the cops. It took a while to get here.
Ryan: She won't go. She won't go.
Kendall: No, no, I'm not going.
Zach: Of course, you're going. You got to keep moving.
Kendall: No, Zach, I can't. No, Zach. The boys are your life. I can't do this to you. I cannot take them away from you.
Zach: Well, the boys have to stay for now. We're running out of time. You have to go.
Kendall: No, no, no, Zach, I'm not going!
Zach: Yes, you're going.
[Police siren approaches]
Kendall: Ok. Ok. Ok. Give me a kiss. I love you, baby.
Ryan: They're gonna be ok. They're gonna be ok. Everybody's gonna be all right.
Officer: Police! Freeze!
Ryan: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey.
Krystal: What -- what baby do you have to get back to?
Krystal: Baby. What baby do you have to get back to?
Tad: Uh, oh, no, no, no. No, no, honey, it's nothing like that. Is it? I just -- I was talking about a song, you know? Actually, it's kind of embarrassing. It's sort of our song.
Taylor: Yep. Our song.
Tad: "Gotta get home to my baby." You know? The thing is I -- I can't remember all the words, but I got this one lyric that keeps going over and over and over in my mind. Do you -- you know the one I'm talking about? It's a country western song.
Tad: Ah. Hmm. It -- you know the really amazing thing is? All of the greats had somebody that they had to get back to -- like Audie Murphy.
Krystal: Eddie Murphy?
Taylor: Gene Autry.
Tad: Gene Autry. There you go. "The girl I left behind," that was it. And think about it. There's Hank Williams. There's Willie Nelson. It's kind of out there, but, you know, even Ray Charles. They all left their babies behind.
Krystal: Is this a new song? I don't know it. Sing a little bit of it.
Tad: I -- well, it's a... gotta get home see my baby gotta get home help me out here, would you?
Taylor: I'm tone-deaf.
Tad: Terrific. Hey, you know what? Ok. I got one for you. I got one for you. How many country western singers does it take to screw in a light bulb? Two: One to do it, and one to cry over the one that burnt out.
Krystal: That is terrible.
Tad: Yeah. Stick around. I got a million of them...baby.
Jake: Oh, I love that face. Why do I love that face? Why?
Amanda: No kidding -- you make that face all the time.
Jake: I do? I make that face? I taught him that face. I taught him a lot -- I'm gonna teach my love for habaņero sauce. Just like your mother, her own special sauce. Oh, and appreciation for raw garlic, except never before a date. Oh, and you must obsess over your hair. Very important.
Amanda: Oh, no, not that one. Any one but that one.
Jake: Well, honey, it's too late. I've already caught him staring in the mirror at himself and my shelf of hair products. Oh, look, look. He did it. He started to fix his hair. You missed it. It was beautiful. You don't have hair yet, buddy. Heh heh heh heh!
Marissa: Just because you want Annie to be the killer, to put bars between her and your father doesn't mean that she is. It's not fair to jump to the worst possible conclusion.
J.R.: Look, Annie always plays that, always the victim. She's always misunderstood, and yet my father rushes to protect her. Oh, and she's a good student. My father's all about manipulation, coercion, saying whatever to get what he wants. Hell, I learned everything I know from him. It turns out I'm just not as good at working people. I like to think that's because I have a little thing called morals. Yet the master's being played by the student, and he doesn't even know it yet.
Marissa: You know what I think? I think you're mad, because Adam moved Annie back into the mansion, and you miss him like crazy.
Scott: Why do you want me to move in with you?
Adam: Annie's life could be in danger. That's why I want you: Eyes, ears, protection.
Scott: You have a security team.
Adam: Yeah, well, if Slater did this, he's probably gonna try again. That's why I want you. You're smart. I can't use rental cops. You're aware, and I can trust you. And even more important than that, you care about Annie. Today, when all of us were doubting her, you were the only one who insisted that she be given her point of view. And you found the truth. So I need you. Annie needs you.
David: Honestly, I don't blame Kendall for wanting to take off. Adam's the one who should be on trial, not her. After all the garbage he's pulled -- much worse than murder. And yet he gets away with all of it.
Liza: Adam knows how to work the law and get away with it, to control people. It's what he did to me. That's one of the reasons why I became a lawyer, is to get at least some of my control back. And here I am. I'm defending a woman whose life is a mess, because of Adam and that crazy Annie, and I'm completely powerless to help her.
Jesse: So where the hell is Kendall?
Ryan: Absolutely no idea.
Zach: We tried to catch up, but we were too late.
Jesse: Oh. So you brought the boys for backup? Zach, I asked you not to do this. A little more time, I would've had evidence on Annie.
Zach: There wasn't enough time. They moved up the trial.
Jesse: So you did this? You helped her escape?
Zach: You know that Kendall wasn't gonna go down for Stuart's murder. I wasn't gonna let that happen.
Jesse: You're an accomplice.
Zach: Let her run.
Jesse: Are you high? I can't do that.
Zach: You're the chief of police. You're you. You can do whatever you want.
Jesse: If I don't see this through, somebody else will. They won't have half the sympathy. Brock? They don't move.
[Kendall makes her way to the marina]
Officer: Ok, Fowler, go check out the front of the place again. Thompson, go check out the patio reception area. I'm gonna go check out the port. If you see anything, you radio me.
Natalia: All right. Yes, sir.
Amanda: Trevor is sleeping sweet dreams.
Jake: Yeah? Good.
Amanda: You know, shouldn't they be back by now?
Jake: Who are we talking about? I forgot. Who are "they"?
Amanda: Tad and Taylor.
Jake: Who are they? I don't know who they are. And you were the one who told them to get lost or take a break or whatever you said. Right? Am I right?
Amanda: I know, I know. I just -- I just have this feeling.
Jake: I have a feeling, and I know how to take care of it. It's -- hmm. How do I say it?
Amanda: I'm worried. Can we just call and make sure everything's ok?
Tad: Ok. All right, all right. Just -- just do one more. Ok? Just -- just one more. What kind of music do mummies like?
Taylor: Wrap. Get it -- wrap?
Tad: Everybody gets it. That's the point. You're here 10 minutes, you're stealing my material. Come on.
Taylor: How about bad guy walks into a bar?
Tad: I don't know that one. I know one about Beethoven. It's either the "Fifth" or the "Ninth." I get them --
Taylor: Have a fry.
Maid: There's a Mr. Grant to see you.
Adam: Oh, excellent. Thank you. Would you convince Scott that his moving in here would probably be the best decision he's ever made? You, I expect a yes out of you.
Scott: Wow. You got to love his confidence.
Annie: Yeah. There's a lot to love about him. So? Do you think you'll move in?
Scott: Uh, I think that Adam is being overprotective. If you need me, I'm already on the property.
Annie: That sounds like a no. It's too bad. It could be fun. I mean, Adam sometimes goes to bed early. If you were here, we could make popcorn, watch movies. Adam's into more black-and-white with subtitles. I'm more of a action/horror type of girl.
Scott: Why doesn't that surprise me?
Annie: It could be fun, Scott. Just think about it. Fire in the fireplace. We could give each other foot massages. I love a good massage, don't you? I've been told I'm very good.
Scott: Are you coming on to me?
J.R.: Maybe you're right. Maybe I miss my dad. Maybe I'm ticked off at him for choosing Annie over his own family. But most importantly, I'm scared for him. He's living with the woman who killed my Uncle Stuart and just took a shot at him.
Marissa: You don't know that for sure.
J.R.: Hey, buddy, any bites?
Little Adam: No, Daddy.
J.R.: I want it to always be like this for Little Adam and me: Good and solid. I'm just scared that we're gonna end up just like my dad and me.
Marissa: Not a chance.
J.R.: I want him to be proud of me, but I haven't been giving him much to be proud of lately. I'm struggling with sobriety, I work for a cutthroat, take-no-prisoners Chandler Enterprises, and I live in a hotel.
Marissa: He happens to love it here, because you've made it feel like home for him. That's why you're such a great dad, because you put your son first, and you always will.
J.R.: Do you have a crystal ball?
Marissa: No. I just have faith in you. Oh.
J.R.: What are the police doing here?
Marissa: I should go check on something. Hey, Little A, if you catch a fish, I want to hear all about it. Ok?
Little Adam: Ok.
Marissa: I meant what I said. I really do have faith in you.
Ryan: Hey, uh, Officer? Would you mind getting my boy some juice? He's a little bit thirsty. It's in the diaper bag back there.
Officer Brock: Yeah, I'll get it, but don't move.
Ryan: We're not moving. I know you don't want us to move. We're good. We're good. I got my hands full here.
Spike: I love you.
Zach: Mitch. What you got?
Mitch: I got to tell you, Mr. Slater, the cops are looking all over the marina.
Zach: All right. Well, any sight of her, you put her on the boat, get her the hell out of there.
Mitch: You got it.
Zach: We have a problem.
J.R.: Let's go.
Kendall: Looks clear?
Officer: Whoa, whoa, whoa, sir! Whoa, whoa, whoa, sir! Sir! It looks like you're in a bit of a rush. Who owns this boat?
Mitch: She's a rental.
Officer Thompson: Doesn't really answer the question, Captain. What's -- what's the hurry here?
Mitch: I'm just trying to beat the weather.
Officer: Captain, could we see a list of names of all the people you're expecting?
Mitch: I don't have that information.
Officer Thompson: Obstruction of justice is a serious crime, Captain.
[Kendall hides and thinks back to her escape]
Zach's voice: Well, the boys have to stay for now. We're running out of time. You have to go.
Kendall: No, no, no, Zach, I'm not going!
Zach: Yes, you're going.
Kendall: Ok. Ok. Ok. Give me a kiss. I love you, baby.
Ryan: They're gonna be ok. They're gonna be ok. Everybody's gonna be all right.
Marissa: Are you looking for Kendall Slater?
Natalia: "Looking" would be the word.
Marissa: No sign of her?
Natalia: No. Not yet.
Kendall: I give up.
Natalia: Up here! I got her! Kendall Slater, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney.
Annie: I think you're very sweet, Scott, but I'm in love with Adam.
Scott: I'm sorry. That was totally out of line.
Annie: I mean, if you're uncomfortable living here because you're attracted to me --
Scott: Oh, God, no. I mean -- I mean, you're -- you're a very attractive woman, Annie, but I just think of you as a friend. Ju -- just a friend.
Annie: You're very cute when you're embarrassed, but you don't have to worry. I'm not throwing myself at you. Ok?
Scott: Ha ha ha! Well, that's a relief.
Adam: So have you convinced Scott to move into the mansion?
Scott: I'll think about it.
Adam: You do that.
Scott: Yeah. Ahem.
Adam: Mmm. Mmm. So all is forgiven?
Adam: Good, because I have a surprise for you.
Annie: In the bedroom? I love surprises! Yay!
Adam: Oh, yes. You call the staff together. You know what you have to do.
Zach: All right.
Jesse: Yeah. So I want you to set these young gentlemen up in my office with some milk and cookies. All right?
Officer: All right, sir.
Jesse: Proud of yourselves? Tell me, who's gonna raise these fine young men when their daddies join their mommy in prison?
Liza: Don't say a word. I'm in on this questioning.
Jesse: Of course, you are.
Zach: We don't need you.
Jesse: Yes, you do. That's why I called her.
Natalia: She surrendered at the marina.
Kendall: I went to the restroom and the window was open. So I figured, freedom that close? And I took it. Then I -- I left the car at the warehouse, and I kept moving.
Jesse: So you never saw Ryan, Zach, or the boys?
Kendall: No. Zach and Ryan had no part of this. My children need their fathers.
Jesse: Well, there's no need to question innocent men.
Kendall: Thank you.
Jesse: Are we good?
Jesse: Let's get you back to your cell.
Kendall: Oh, wait a minute, Jesse. Um, can I please, please talk to Zach?
[J.R. and Marissa walk into ConFusion]
J.R.: Did you want to say hi?
J.R.: You sure?
Tad: Would you -- no, would you excuse me for a second, because she really needs a dance.
Taylor: I don't dance.
Tad: You do now. Come here, come here, come here. Come here, come here, come here, come here. What the hell is wrong with you? Aren't you gonna tell me how brilliant I was with Krystal?
Taylor: We have to leave.
Tad: No, we don't. I sidestepped the whole baby thing.
Taylor: David just walked in.
Jake: What are you doing?
Tad and Taylor: Dipping.
Jake: Last time you dipped, you almost passed out. Do you remember? Can we go? We got to go.
Taylor: Is Trevor ok?
Jake: It's fine. Just Amanda would really like you to be home.
Tad: He's fine. I'd say we're done here. Why didn't you say something?
Marissa: She just walked up and surrendered.
J.R.: Kendall goes back to cuffs and bars, and Annie gets to stab, shoot, and kill again.
Scott: Oh, God. Why don't you give Annie a break?
J.R.: You know, you and my dad should start the Crazy Annie Fan Club.
Scott: You've got it in for Annie because your dad loves her and you feel threatened. Maybe you took that shot.
Marissa: Scott, that's not fair.
J.R.: I hate Annie. I mean, I really hate Annie. But I would never risk jail time to get her out of the way. But you know what you should do, Scott? You should just take a break on this whole Annie thing. Just give it a rest.
Scott: She's a target. We're concerned.
J.R.: "We"? "We"? You mean you and my dad?
Scott: Yeah. That's why he asked me to move in: To keep Annie safe.
J.R.: Well, congratulations. My father's obviously decided that you're the son he's never had.
Kendall: I'm sorry. I couldn't do it, but I couldn't run, Zach. I just -- I couldn't take the boys away from you. And I couldn't leave them. And I couldn't leave you.
Zach: It's all right. Hey. This isn't over. I'll get you out of this.
Jesse: It's time, Kendall. We got to get you back to your cell.
Kendall: I love you.
Amanda: Oh, I'm so glad you guys are back.
Tad: Yeah, we are. What's the emergency?
Amanda: Nerves, I guess. I had a bad feeling.
Tad: Oh, terrific. Now she's going Opal on us.
Jake: Hayward was at ConFusion.
Amanda: Do you think he suspects anything?
Tad: No. All he would've seen is the two of us laughing it up on a date.
Taylor: Well, Krystal wasn't laughing.
Amanda: Krystal was with you?
Tad: Yeah. She kind of sort of heard me say, "We had to get back to the baby."
Jake: Loose lips, hello?
Taylor: No, no, no, no, no. He -- he covered it up. I promise. It was brilliant. Really, guys, it's ok.
Jake: You kidding me?
Amanda: What if David heard?
Tad: He didn't. All he heard was -- was me telling a stupid joke.
Jake: So this is kind of funny to you, right? You think it's funny? Your slip-up could've cost us Trevor.
Scott: Uncle Adam is not trying to replace you. He is worried about Annie.
J.R.: No, he's using her to reel you in, to mold you into a real Chandler.
Scott: That's just crazy.
J.R.: Just to warn you, my father will strip you of all those high morals.
Marissa: J.R., don't.
J.R.: He'll kill the Stuart in you. What? What?
Marissa: All that talk about wanting to do the right thing, wanting to make Little Adam proud, and then you do this? Was I really that wrong about you?
David: Did I hear that right? Your daddy dumped you for Scott?
J.R.: Why don't you take a walk in traffic.
David: Wow. You must be dying for a drink right about now, huh?
J.R.: No. Actually, I'm good.
David: No, no, no, I mean it. And if I were you, I'd be celebrating. You're rid of Adam. My grandson will certainly be better off.
J.R.: Go to hell.
[Romantic music plays]
Adam: You're stunning.
Annie: So are you. Oh.
Adam: Ha ha ha ha! Oh, I never thought I'd fall in love again. Ha ha! Who'd have thought it? On the darkest, blackest night of life, everybody hated me. They all wanted me dead. And the awful part is I didn't care anymore. And then there was you. You -- you are my angel. You have saved my life. Now, my lady... you are my life.
Ryan: Jesse, I want to see Kendall.
Jesse: Ryan, you know I can't do that.
Ryan: She's in a bad place. Ok? The woman is still on medication to keep her heartbeat regular after the transplant. She's very fragile, physically and emotionally. Please? Five minutes?
Jesse: Five minutes. Yo, Thompson? Take him to see Kendall, please.
Officer Thompson: Yes, sir.
Jesse: Hey. Good work in bringing Kendall back in.
Natalia: You still don't think she's guilty even though she ran?
Jesse: Doesn't matter what I think.
Natalia: Dad, wait. Look, I'm afraid. Ok? Something doesn't feel right, like you have one foot outside the law.
Jesse: My feet are exactly where they should be -- both of them. No worries.
Ryan: Kendall? Hey. Liza is on this. Ok? She's on this, and she's gonna prove reasonable doubt, and you'll be home before you even know it.
Kendall: Ryan, you know the truth. You know that I'm --
Ryan: Don't -- don't say it. Kendall, don't. Not to me. Not to anybody. Ok? Ahh. When I first heard that Stuart was shot, I didn't know if you did it. I didn't know. But either way, I understood. I understood that you thought your son was dead. I understood that you did what you had to do to make things right. But Ian fought back, Kendall. He's alive, ok, and he wants to spend the rest of his life with his mom. So now it's your turn. You got to fight back. You got to fight just like Ian did. Fight for your family, for you, for your kids, for Zach. Hey. You can do this. Ok? Please fight.
Zach: Rachael is giving the boys a bath. Ok. What do we do? What's the strategy?
Liza: "What's the strategy?" Strategy? Um, your wife just tried to escape. Willis is gonna use that in court. And our reasonable doubt? Well, that just went out the window.
Zach: I promised Kendall she wasn't gonna go to prison. I'm gonna keep that promise.
Liza: Ok. Well, good luck with that, Zach. I wish you all the best, because I quit.
Amanda: Mommy loves you. I'll see you soon. Ok?
Jake: We miss you, buddy. We miss you already.
Tad: Jake? Ok. I'm sorry. Ok? I am sorry about the mess-up at ConFusion.
Jake: You can hug him.
Amanda: Uh --
Taylor: He's right. Ok? We were careless. We were.
Tad: Ok. All right. I get it. I will never utter the word "baby" again, ever. Ok? My lips are sealed.
Taylor: Wait. Didn't you mention some technique about unsealing lips?
Tad: Yeah. As a matter of fact, I did. It's a real piece of cake. You just -- you sort of move close. You just sort of move close like this, and then you tilt your head to the right like this, and then it's just --
Taylor: That worked.
Tad: Ok. I'll see you later. We wouldn't want to wake the baby.
Taylor: Wouldn't want that.
[Door opens and closes]
David: You look like you're having as much fun as I am. I saw you with Tad and Taylor. Is that it? All that dancing and dipping and looking like a couple?
Krystal: Yeah. Well, they dance, laugh, kiss. They've even got their own song already. Never heard of it. Tad always did like that obscure stuff. "Gotta get back to my baby."
J.R.: Oh -- ugh.
[After flinging an unopened bottle of liquor against a wall, J.R. gets dizzy in an alley]
[Romantic music plays]
Adam: Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?
Annie: I love you so much, Adam. Yes, I will be your wife. Yes, yes, yes.
Adam: All right.
[Adam places a huge ring on Annie's finger]
Annie: Ha ha ha ha!
[Scott walks in as Adam and Annie kiss]
[Kendall paces around her jail cell and thinks]
Ryan's voice: I understood that you thought your son was dead. I understood that you did what you had to do to make things right.
David's voice: I'm sorry, but Ian will most likely not make it till morning.
Jesse's voice: Kendall, I have two witnesses that place you at the Chandlers' the night that Stuart was killed.
Jack: You thought your child was dead. When you left that hospital to go straight to the Chandler Mansion, you were so filled with grief and anguish, that you lost the ability to control you actions. You lost the ability to tell right from wrong.
Zach: All we have to do is create some reasonable doubt for your case.
Kendall: Reasonable doubt? Zach, I told you I didn't do it.
Zach: Stop it. If we're going to pull through this, we have to be straight with each other.
Kendall: I did not kill Stuart.
Zach: The only reason I confessed was to protect you.
Emma: I'm not lying. I saw you kill Stuart.
Liza's voice: Kendall, did you pull the trigger?
Adam: This is the cold-blooded killer who shot my brother.
Stuart: Think. Go back. After the lights went out, and it was thundering and lightening, and you found a gun. And you wanted to use it on the man you thought was Adam.
Kendall: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Did I do it?
Stuart: We, the jury, find you, Kendall Hart Slater, guilty of my murder. You did this. I'm dead because of you. [Echoing] Because of you...
Kendall: Stop it! Stop it! Stop! No more! No more! I can't -- I can't do it. I can't. I can't fight. I can't fight. I can't fight. I can't fight. I don't want to fight! I can't do it!
Zach: I won't let you quit.
Liza: What are you going to do, Zach? You going to tell the world that, uh, my baby is David's son?
Zach: This has nothing to do with your baby. I don't care about your secret. It's about Kendall going to prison for life, or worse.
Liza: Well, I -- I really am sorry. I am. I'm sorry for Kendall. I'm sorry for you. I'm really sorry for your boys. I -- I get why she did it. It doesn't mean --
Zach: Then don't quit on her. You know this case. You know Kendall. You're a good lawyer. You can get this done. Tell me what to do and I'll do it. Just stay on the case. Anything you want.
Officer Thompson: We've got a problem with Slater. She's cracking up big time.
Kendall: I did it! I did it! I -- I shot him, and I killed him! I -- I'm guilty! I murdered Stuart Chandler.
