Amanda: I don't -- I don't think I can do this.
Jake: Why not? Why? You said you were fine with it.
Amanda: Well, I know, but that was back at home, not right before I'm going to walk into a shrink's office.
Jake: Honey, post-partum depression is -- it's a crusher, and it's common. It's very common. You're not alone.
Amanda: But this isn't your standard case, lying about your baby dying. I mean, it's one thing to go to a psychologist to get help with depression, but it's another to go and lie about the reason you're feeling like that. I mean, it's also dangerous. What if -- what if the truth accidentally comes out?
Jake: All right, look, you're not happy, right? You haven't been happy. You deserve to be happy, and I don't have the expertise to make that happen for -- I just really think it's worth a try.
Erica: Oh, make that happen, Val. Hi.
Jack: Hi, how are you?
Erica: I'm -- I'm great, thank you.
Jack: Thanks for coming.
Erica: Of course.
Erica: What was so urgent?
Jack: Ah, it's just Kendall. I think she's out of control. She's doing something almost daily to jeopardize her case, and I need you to sit on her, hard.
Erica: Oh, no. I don't do offspring control any longer.
David: You look beautiful. Thanks for coming.
Krystal: Well, you really didn't give me much choice. What do you want?
David: What do you think? Another chance.
Zach: So Kendall's back.
Ryan: She's back. She's fine. She turned up safe and sound.
Zach: Great. Where was she?
Kendall: Never mind where I was. Where the hell were you?
Randi: Jesse, you can't go to the cops. I killed him.
Jesse: Randi, it was self-defense.
Randi: No one's going to believe me.
Jesse: I believe you. I do.
Angie: Jesse? What a beautiful day, right? Hey, what's wrong? You ok?
Angie: You got home so late, and then you tossed and turned. It didn't go well with the D.A. last night, did it?
Randi's voice: Let go. You're hurting me!
D.A. North's voice: No, you don't tell me what to do. I do not take orders from women. I am in charge now.
D.A. North: Say it!
Randi: Don't come any closer. Henry, stop.
Randi: You're home. Hi. Oh. Thank God you're home.
Ryan: Let's go watch some TV and let them talk, ok?
Zach: Why did you run?
Kendall: I didn't run. Where did you go?
Zach: I went to D.C. North took a trip, and I thought that was weird on the eve of your trial.
Kendall: So did you think he might be chasing me?
Zach: Don't know. That's one possibility.
Kendall: Ok, well, I had -- I had an idea. I wanted to get Annie to -- to admit everything, so I came up with this whole plan, and I thought that you would try to stop me.
Ryan: She never left town. She was with me the entire time.
Zach: I don't really want to listen to this, do I?
Kendall: Ok, I went to Adam. I told him about this idea that I had, this plan that I had, to try to get Annie -- admit that she killed Stuart. So he -- he pretended he got his memory back and then that he all of a sudden remembered Annie killing Stuart.
Zach: And you went along with that?
Ryan: It almost worked.
Zach: "Almost" being the key word here.
Kendall: Annie ended up not falling for it. So what happened in D.C.? What did -- what did North say?
Zach: I didn't find North. Turns out the D.A.'s missing.
Jesse: No, I didn't see Henry North. It's probably better that I didn't.
Angie: Then it was good that you missed him. So what happens now? Are you still planning to resign?
Jesse: No, I think Kendall will at least get a fair trial.
Angie: I don't understand. I mean, if you didn't see him or talk to him --
Jesse: Well, let's just say that my faith in the system is still intact.
Angie: Frankie was released this morning.
Jesse: He's home. I mean, he and Randi, they're together now at their place?
Angie: Uh, yeah. Where else would they be?
Frankie: I thought you would still be on your business trip. What happened?
Randi: Um -- missed flight. I mean, cancelled flight. You know how these airports are, sweetie. I just, um -- I didn't feel like waiting, and it wasn't that important.
Frankie: Huh, well, I guess my surprise backfired on me. I was going to have a few people over to kind of celebrate me coming home, but, uh -- you know. They're getting there, my fingers. The therapy is a killer, but it's working. See? What is it? It's my mitts, right? Too tough to handle.
Randi: God, no.
Frankie: Then what is it? What's wrong? Do you have something you want to tell me?
Randi: Yeah, there is something.
Jake: It's not like you haven't been through something devastating. You have. No, yeah, the baby didn't die, but you still have the same pain. You still have the same hurt. You have the same tears. I mean, you can't talk to anybody. You're not talking to me about it, really.
Amanda: So you expect me to talk to a complete stranger about it?
Jake: She's not a complete stranger. She's a doctor, and the doctor knows how to ask the right questions. She asks the questions that -- that go down the paths of your mind to ease the pain. Look, I love you, ok? And I'm with you forever. At the same time, I'm worried about your health. I'm worried about your state of mind. Let me ask you something. Do you -- do you believe in me?
Jake: You do?
Jake: Well, then, listen to me carefully when I say someday I'll be able to give you exactly what you want, ok? You hear me? And until that day, I think this is just a really good idea.
Dr. Samson: Dr. and Mrs. Martin, I'm Dr. Samson.
Jake: Yes, how are you? Thank you so much.
Jake: You can call me Jake, and this is Amanda, my other half.
Dr. Samson: Well, I'm glad you came. Why don't we go talk?
Jake: Hey, Dad.
Joe: Hey, son. How are you doing?
Jake: Good, I'm good, good.
Joe: Is Amanda having a session with Dr. Samson?
Jake: Yeah, she, uh -- needs to talk, you know, to someone since she lost the --
Joe: Of course, of course, she does.
Jake: The baby.
Joe: How about you? Who are you going to talk to?
David: I've been trying to get control of my life again, sitting around that big old empty house, trying to figure out where I went wrong, and all I can think about is how lonely I am. I miss you, Krystal.
Krystal: Well, there's no doubt that we have been through a lot together. But a lot of that was heartache. In fact, that was what bonded us, and that's what we -- that's what I have to run away from because we wallow, David. We wallow in that misery, and that is no basis for any relationship. We're damaged goods, ok? And -- and we can't be fixed.
David: You know it's all right to admit that we did share some joy, Krystal. You know, but damaged or not, do you still love me?
Jack: So I get a phone call. Kendall's trespassed onto the Chandlers'. She's trying to force a confession out of Annie. Basically, she's doing anything she can to sink our case.
Erica: Jack, she's a grown woman with a mind of her own, and if she wants to fight tooth and nail for her own freedom, I mean, she certainly has every right to do that.
Liza: Not against my client, she doesn't. Look, Annie and Adam have had enough harassment from both you and Kendall. This Kane-women vendetta, it stops, and it stops now.
Zach: I spent most of the night in Henry North's room, waiting for him to show up, but he didn't. His stuff is still there.
Kendall: Excuse me.
Zach: So, Ryan, you lied to me. I asked you where Kendall was, and you said you had no idea.
Ryan: First of all, Kendall doesn't have to sit and stay just because you bark a command. Second of all, you were long gone by the time she got there at my house asking for my help, and she was very determined to go through with it, with or without me.
Zach: The only thing you're helping her with, Ryan, is putting a noose around her neck.
Ryan: I'm not going to let you lay this on me. I had nothing to do with this. She was halfway through her plan when I got there, Zach. Maybe if you shared a little bit more about what you'd been doing, she wouldn't feel so desperate and out of the loop, like what you've been doing with North and what you found out about him.
Zach: All right, you want me to share something? Here it goes. You think that you and I are a team? You're dead wrong.
Ryan: What if working as a team is the only way to get your wife off of a murder charge?
Zach: Good point. All right, here we go, team. You stay here, make sure my wife's ok, and I'll take care of the rest. Go team.
Mr. Murphy: Mr. Slater? It's Mr. Murphy from the Memorial Hotel.
Mr. Murphy: Uh, Mr. North has yet to reappear. His room remains untouched, and the car he listed when he registered is not in the hotel's parking lot.
Zach: What are you going to do?
Mr. Murphy: Well, he's not supposed to check out until today. I'll give it another 24 hours. Then I'm going to call the police.
Zach: Thanks for keeping me informed.
Jake: I'm not confused, Dad. I -- can I just -- just be really honest with you?
Jake: I feel like something is going to come between us. The baby, the thing with the baby, it has just raised a huge red flag for me. It's like I -- you know, the universe is telling me I can't take anything for granted with Amanda. I'm watching out for warning signs like something's going to happen, you know, something's going to -- something's going to go south. I don't know if I'm even giving her what she really needs.
Joe: Yeah, you certainly can't ignore her needs, but on the other hand, you know, you don't want to get so focused on the destination that you forget to enjoy the journey. It's a balancing act, you know, part of what makes it all so very interesting, you know? Talk to your mother. She'll be glad to expand on the subject.
Jake: Mom. It's -- I need to be needed. I'm actually scared to death that someone is going to come along, and she might actually need them even -- even more.
Joe: Yeah, well, I'm -- someone will come along. I'm sure of that. I mean, it's a given. It's not going to be another man. It's going to be another child, yours and Amanda's. Amanda's never going to look at you the way she looks at her son or her daughter, but you'll have a family then, and then there'll be a bond between all of you. Believe me, it'll be stronger than anything you ever imagined. You keep holding on to Amanda. Just don't crush her wings.
Liza: You know your client, your ex-wife, and Ryan Lavery all seem to think that it's perfectly acceptable to just barge in on my client anytime they feel like it and attack her at will.
Erica: Attack her? Your client is the one who had her hands around my throat.
Liza: Yes, I heard all about your wild accusations, but whatever happened there, she was fighting for her life after you barged into a private residence and assaulted her.
Erica: I did not assault her. She killed Stuart Chandler.
Liza: Which is a claim that nobody official has actually made against my client. Listen, taking the law into your own hands is not only stupid, but it is dangerous, and it will land you in a lot of trouble. Jack, will you set her straight?
Jack: Liza, not that it's any of my business, but your baby's face is awfully red.
David: Look, I'm sorry. I just -- I don't like the sound of that cry. Excuse me.
David: Let me take a look at him.
Liza: Excuse me, uh, you know what? You can keep away from my child.
David: He doesn't sound good.
Liza: He's just got too many blankets on, and he's just a little hot. Please.
David: He's running a fever.
Liza: Stay the hell away from my child.
Erica: That was strange.
Kendall: Zach is gone?
Ryan: Yeah, he left, not without a few choice words first, but he's gone.
Kendall: Well, I think it was a good idea trying to get Annie to admit it. It almost worked.
Ryan: No, Kendall, it was not a good idea. It wasn't. I was trying to defend you in front of Zach, but it really could have come back to bite you, ok? You got to listen to Jack. Everything he says you do, ok? You got to stay out of trouble. You got to focus on the trial. One more mistake and --
Kendall: Will you stop -- will you stop, please? Stop sounding like Zach and being so damned condescending, please. I'm not going to let anyone just tell me to shut up and do what I'm told, sit around and wait for North to completely ruin my life. I am the one who's on trial here. I'm the one who could stand to lose it all, my family, my children, Zach.
Zach: What's the status on Mrs. North?
Woman: She was up and down at the tables all night. She downed plenty at the bar. Then she went up to her room.
Zach: She seems to have bounced back. Get her some coffee, would you, please? Good morning. How are you feeling?
Madison: I'm ready to win back some of my money.
Zach: Did you sleep ok?
Madison: Yes, thank you.
Madison: Oh, yes.
Zach: Thank you. Did you talk to your husband?
Madison: Why would I do that? I thought I told you our marriage was over, what there was of it, anyway. Why do you ask?
Zach: He's not answering his phone.
Madison: I warned you. Henry has a habit of not answering his cell phone when he's out of town. I guess the ringtone disturbs the hookers.
Zach: He's not answering his hotel-room door either.
Madison: You went down there?
Zach: The room was empty.
D.A. North: Help me.
Madison: Maybe you had the wrong room.
Zach: No, I'm pretty certain I had the right room. So was the hotel manager.
Madison: Who knows? Maybe, uh -- maybe Henry was shacked up with a prostitute last night, or maybe he ran off with that woman, the one who broke his heart, the only woman he could ever love? Thank you for the coffee. I have a date with a king and an ace, I hope.
David: Well, I'm sorry to interrupt. I assume that you two are going over Kendall's defense. Good luck with that. I just hope you're not trying to turn me into a suspect again.
Erica: Well, David, you are going to be testifying for the prosecution. That makes you fair game.
David: After everything we've been through, Erica, I assume by now you know that I'm not out to get your daughter.
Erica: I hope you remember that when you take the witness stand.
David: I swear to tell the truth and nothing but.
Jack: Well, then, I will be looking very much forward to cross examination.
David: I'm sure you will.
Krystal: Wow, what was that all about?
David: I don't know. I mean, Liza's reaction was just so strange. She did not want me to touch that child.
Krystal: Maybe she heard about your obsession with babies.
David: We both knew there was something wrong with him. Why would she react like that? Look, you know, I'm going to go see if Liza brought him to the hospital. I'm sorry, Krystal. I've got to go do this.
Kendall: I'm just really upset about the thought of losing my family.
Ryan: I know what you meant.
Kendall: But you're the one who I came to for help. You're the one that I trust.
Ryan: Yeah, I was. Yeah, but Zach should be the one that's helping you, Kendall. That's the way it should be, right? Because if you go down for this, you're going to lose him, and I understand very clearly now that that's the last thing that you want.
Kendall: I'm not playing any games with you.
Ryan: I know that, but Zach thinks I'm playing one for you. He thinks I'm out to save you for myself when really all I want to do is I want to protect my son and my daughter. That's what I want, and there's got to be a way for me to do that and not get stuck on your merry-go-round.
Amanda: You were right.
Amanda: Yes, you were right. She knew exactly how I felt and -- and I just found myself talking and talking.
Jake: Crying and crying? Which is ok, because that's the way it works.
Amanda: I thought I was all cried out, but she proved me wrong.
Jake: Hey, what's the matter?
Liza: He's burning up.
Jake: Oh, yeah? All right, well, let me take a look at him. In fact, let me call somebody from Pediatrics, ok? Babe, I'll be right back. Hey.
Liza: David was at BJ's. He wanted to examine him.
Angie: I was rooting for you to get that bastard North a piece of your mind.
Jesse: Hey, can we not talk about the trial anymore? It was a really long night.
Angie: Yeah, but you don't have that long. I mean, North is going to put you on the stand, right? Use your testimony to bring down Kendall and convict her under false --
Jesse: Yeah, well, that's not going to happen.
Angie: Why not?
Jesse: Just a gut feeling. I've learned how to trust what my gut tells me.
Angie: What else is your gut telling you?
Jesse: That everything is going to work out just fine for everybody.
Randi: I wasn't exactly honest with you about, um, about yesterday.
Frankie: Which part?
Randi: Well, I did go to the airport, and I did miss that first flight, but that's -- that's not why I had to come home. I've been, um -- I've been feeling a little sick lately and, um, just not myself. I noticed I was late and, uh -- I took a test.
Frankie: You're pregnant?
Randi: Now, I know it's something that we didn't discuss and that we might discuss in the future, and we didn't plan it, and we weren't trying but, um -- it's a really big surprise, and I'm happy, and I hope you are too, baby.
Frankie: Happy? Uh -- this is -- oh, this is -- wow! A baby.
Randi: And that's why I had to come home. I wanted to tell you, and I -- and I wanted to get some rest, you know?
Frankie: Great. Who else knows? Because I want to sing this thing off the mountain top.
Randi: No one. You had to be the first one to know, and I don't think that we should tell anybody till after the first trimester. Usually, that's how it goes.
Frankie: Ok, ok. God, I -- I love you. Mm, but we got to make one exception, my parents. We got to tell them.
Randi: Yeah, yeah, of course.
Randi: Yeah, of course. All right.
Randi: I'll go shower, and, uh, and then we'll get over there.
Frankie: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, wow. Wow.
[Knock on door]
Zach: I thought I saw you in the hospital.
Frankie: I just got out this morning. Well, what are you doing here?
Zach: I came by to see Randi. She's been working with Kendall and doing a lot of work for her, and I don't know. I just thought that I'd come and say thank you, and Kendall said there was a folder here that Randi's holding for her.
Frankie: Yeah, but how did you know she was here?
Randi: Hey. I called Kendall from the airport when I decided that I wasn't going to go.
Zach: You know the folder I'm talking about?
Randi: Yeah. Sweetie, would you mind grabbing it? It's by the bed on the nightstand.
Frankie: Yeah, sure.
Zach: I didn't think Frankie was going to be here.
Randi: Is that a problem?
Zach: Uh-uh. We're you in D.C. last night? Did you go and see North?
David: Amanda, have you seen Liza?
Amanda: She and Jake are with the baby. He had a temperature.
David: Really? Wow. I mean, Jake has been dabbling in Obstetrics a lot lately, and now he's into Pediatrics, as well. That's quite the hubby you've got there.
Amanda: Yes, he is.
David: Don't you find that a bit curious? I mean, that he's finding such interest in Liza's baby?
Amanda: Why do you even care?
David: Well, I just know that -- that he was extremely protective of the baby you lost, our baby, and I don't know. What do you think? Maybe now he's trying to replace it with Liza's? Psychologically, I mean.
Amanda: I don't even know what you're talking about. Excuse me.
Erica: So are you and David back together, or are you not? I mean, David certainly left in a hurry.
Krystal: Jackson didn't look too happy with you either.
Erica: Well, you see the difference between you and me among other things, many other things, is that I don't actually need to have a man in my life all the time.
Krystal: Ah, so you just raid the blood bank when you get hungry instead, huh?
Erica: No, actually, I have a number of careers that really keep me busy. In fact, why don't you think about going back to work? Buy a new mattress or something.
Krystal: No doubt, you speak from experience. Thanks for the tip.
Erica: Oh, excuse me. Somebody important.
Randi: You told me not to go see Henry, so I didn't go.
Zach: Good. I just came from there.
Randi: Why? Were you checking up on me?
Zach: No, uh-uh. Kendall had disappeared, and I wanted to make sure she didn't go to D.C. to confront North.
Randi: Well, did you find her? Did you find him?
Zach: He wasn't there, and it turns out Kendall never left Pine Valley.
Randi: Good. So maybe Henry found some other woman to obsess about and ran off with her.
Frankie: You know, I have checked everywhere, and I can't find a folder.
Randi: Oh. Well, I guess I just left it at the office then.
Zach: Frankie, I'm glad you're out of the hospital. Things are looking up.
Frankie: Yeah, it is, but I'm confused. I've got to get something straight.
Randi: We're having a baby!
Randi: Thank you. We're actually, um -- we're going to keep things quiet, so I don't even know why I said that.
Zach: It will be our secret then, until you say the word. Welcome back.
Frankie: Yeah. What happened to our "no telling" policy?
Randi: I don't know. I guess I just got excited. I needed to tell somebody.
Frankie: Hmm. Well, I forgive you. Come here, mmm.
Randi: I'm going to go get dressed, and we'll head over to your parents.
Frankie: All right.
Ryan: And Kendall going over to Adam's to try and catch Annie, it was stupid. It was -- it was dangerous. It could end up hurting her case.
Erica: Well, you were just trying to help.
Ryan: I know. It was more than that, and it was. Kendall needed me, and I just -- I just jumped right in without even thinking about it, you know? I didn't talk to you. I didn't talk to Zach, and I've got to stop. She's obviously still in love with Zach, whether it's obvious to her or not, and it just doesn't, you know -- it doesn't feel good. I've just got to stay away. That's it.
Erica: Well, we know that's not going to be easy, not with her trial coming up.
Ryan: And I have to testify for the prosecution. So even though I know she's innocent, I may end up hurting her case, which is the last thing that I want to do. Of course, here I am, saying all this to her mother.
Ryan: So --
Erica: No, you're talking to a good friend who just happens to be her mother. Look, I know that Kendall is doing everything she can to save herself, and that's good. She should, because she is innocent, but I can't make excuses for what she's been doing where you're concerned. Kendall has to realize there are consequences to her actions, just like there are to mine and to yours, and you're making the right decision to stay away.
Ryan: Which is exactly what you've wanted, me to stay away from her this whole time.
Erica: Ok, ok. I won't deny it. Is that why you texted me to come out here and meet with you? So you could tell me that you're going to be keeping away from it all?
Ryan: Yes, it is.
Erica: Well, I hope that doesn't include me.
Jesse: You looking like a brand-new man, son.
Frankie: I feel like a brand-new man. Should you tell them, or should I, baby?
Randi: Oh, go ahead.
Frankie: Randi's pregnant. We're having a baby.
Jesse: What? That is wonderful news.
Angie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God!
Jesse: What do you know? A brand-new baby in the family.
Angie: And with these two, what a gorgeous baby it's going to be.
Jesse: It's all going to work out.
David: How's the baby?
Jake: The baby's fine.
Liza: Thank you.
Jake: Fine. He had a lot of blankets on him, so I think he got overheated, but his temperature's normal now.
Liza: Excuse me.
David: You know, was the baby examined here at the hospital after he was born?
Jake: The baby was thoroughly examined and taken care of. Why are you asking?
David: Well, I was just led to believe by Amanda that the baby hadn't seen a doctor yet.
Liza: Well, Amanda doesn't know what she's talking about, and you -- you've got to stop butting into my life.
Jake: Well, I don't blame her. I mean, you have this magical way of butting into people's lives. It's true. Everybody knows it. I mean, do you have a reason why you're involving yourself with -- with Liza's baby now? You got a reason for that?
David: Aw, that's funny. I was just about to ask you the very same thing.
Mr. Murphy: Excuse me a moment. Mr. Slater.
Zach: I thought you said you were going to wait 24 hours before calling the police.
Mr. Murphy: No, they came to me. There was a car found at the bottom of a cliff, a body inside, badly burned. The driver's license they found on the body matches the one that I copied when Mr. North checked in.
Angie: To Randi, my beautiful daughter-in-law, may you be as blessed as Jesse and I have been with beautiful children and warm, loving family, and --
Jesse: And here is to many, many years of joy and laughter and a healthy dose of the frustrating challenges ahead of you. I only hope that this child has as much strength and courage as the two of you have. Frank, Randi, you two are truly two of the most courageous people I have ever known. Well, almost on par with this one here.
Angie: To Randi.
Randi: Thank you.
Jesse: I'll get it. Hello. What was that? Ok, all right. Thanks.
Angie: What's wrong?
Jesse: That was the station. They said turn on the news.
Man: It has been confirmed to us that the car found at the bottom of a ravine outside Washington, D.C., was, indeed, the one rented by local District Attorney Henry North. The body found inside is believed to be North.
Natalia: Mrs. North?
Madison: Don't tell me I parked in another handicapped spot.
Natalia: We need to talk to you. It's about your husband.
Kendall: Is that cool? Listen, here, Spike. I want to tell you guys something.
Kendall: I want to tell you something. Ok, the next few weeks are going to be really busy, and Mommy's not going to be around for a while, but I don't want you to worry, ok? I don't want to you to worry. I love you both very much, and I might have to go away for a little while.
Zach: Maybe not. Henry North is dead.
Erica: I've been watching you these past few months, watching you having to deal with Greenlee's death and bearing your heart and your soul to Kendall, facing down Zach, and now standing strong, refusing to be pulled back into my daughter's sometimes very messed-up world. You know, somewhere along the line, most men, they would have screwed up somewhere, taken the easy way out, run for cover, but not you. You've stayed true to yourself all along, and I just can't tell you how much I admire that or how much I've always wanted to know a man with those qualities, and I just now realized here you've been, all this time.
Jake: I delivered Liza's baby, and I don't know. Maybe that makes her feel like she can rely on me.
David: Yeah, I guess so, because, well, you've been doing a lot of Ob work recently. You know, it's really funny. Everybody keeps accusing me of being obsessed with babies lately, and yet, every time I turn around, you're, like, hovering over Liza's baby. Why is that, Doctor?
Amanda: Hey. How's the baby?
Liza: He's doing just fine.
Amanda: Oh, well, that's a relief. I'm glad you're doing ok, sweetie.
Liza: Now, you know, it's -- it's not the time.
Amanda: Yeah, ok. Liza, I'm sorry. Are you trying to keep me from your baby?
