Krystal: David was driving like a maniac. We went all over the place. Thank God nobody was hurt when he plowed in --
Tad: Krystal? Krystal? Sweetie -- baby, don't do this to me. Krystal? I need some help here!
Angie: Tad, what's wrong? Krystal -- oh, my God. I need a gurney, stat!
Jesse: Put him in cell until he sobers up. You need a lawyer?
David: No, Ms. Colby already offered me her services once before. That didn't go exactly very well, now did it?
Liza: Go sleep it off, David.
David: You don't want me near you anyway. I've been known for stealing babies.
[Cell phone rings]
Jesse: Hey, boo.
Angie: Hey, baby. Listen, I'm going to be home late tonight. Krystal collapsed.
Angie: Yeah, I don't know if it was from the car accident, but I do want to stick around and find out.
Jesse: Yeah, of course -- of course. Keep me posted, would you?
Angie: Of course, I will.
David: All right, come on now. Are these really necessary?
Jesse: Um, yeah. You got drunk. You drove. You put people's lives on the line.
David: Oh, for crying out loud, I hit a guardrail, not a school bus, and Krystal's fine.
Jesse: Guess again, Doc. She just collapsed at the hospital.
David: Oh, that's not good. That's not -- I've got to go. I've got to go to Krystal. I've got to go to Krystal!
Officer: Easy, buddy.
Marissa: Drink of choice?
J.R.: Alcoholic or non-alcoholic?
J.R.: Cherry soda and beer.
Marissa: Beer, ok, but cherry soda -- really?
J.R.: Yeah, you know, she said it went well with guacamole.
Marissa: Guacamole, nice.
J.R.: Mm-hmm. Yeah. You should of seen Babe when she was pregnant. She ate so much of it, I swear that she was going to turn green.
Marissa: God, it's so bizarre. All these years a twin, and I never even met her.
J.R.: But I bet you know her. Aren't twins supposed to have that psychic bond thing?
Marissa: I never felt it, or if I did, I had no idea what it was.
[Cell phone rings]
Tad: Marissa, hi. This is Tad martin. I got your number out of Krystal's phone.
Marissa: What's going on?
Tad: Honey, there's been a car accident.
Tad: Listen, I -- they're not going to let me stay on this phone for long. You've got to get to the hospital right now.
J.R.: What was that about?
Marissa: It's happening all over again.
Kendall: Ian's welcome home party -- take, I don't know, 5, 6?
Zach: Well, let's make this last one.
Zach: Let's just say that he's home for good.
Zach: What do you think about that?
Kendall: That sounds good for me. Ok, Rachel, come and say hi to Ian. Say hi to Rachel.
Ryan: Welcome home. Hi, welcome home.
Emma: Ian, you're back.
Zach: Yeah, well, take it easy on him. He's had a bit of a rough time.
Zach: Oh, it's ok. Here, hold this.
Kendall: What are you doing here?
David: Please, let me get to her.
Liza: You've already charged him for drunk driving. You've got no grounds to hold him on.
Jesse: What, are you back working as his lawyer again?
Liza: That's up to David.
David: I don't care. I don't care. Whatever it takes. Just let me get to her. Damn it. She knew I was drinking. Why the hell did she get in the car?
Liza: Just a guess, but probably to keep you from killing yourself.
David: And now she's the one who's hurt.
Tad: What's wrong with Krystal?
Angie: She's being taken down for a CT.
Tad: So you don't know what's wrong?
Angie: No, not yet. You know, everyone that David touches, and I mean everyone, ends up fighting for their life. I can't even deal with this right now. I just --
Tad: Wait, wait, wait. Have a seat.
Angie: Not on top of everything else.
Tad: What is it? What's wrong?
Angie: Frankie's back from Germany, totally closed off. I mean, he won't talk. He won't even look at us.
Tad: Well, baby, he's been through a trauma. I'm sure he'll come out of it somehow.
Angie: When? How? Because I have no idea how to help my son.
Brot: What's up, man? What are you doing?
[Frankie throws a magazine to the floor]
Brot: Want some help with this?
Frankie: What I want -- what I want is for everyone to leave me alone.
Brot: Frankie, you should know by now that's not going to happen. The Hubbards are as tight as they come.
Frankie: That's great. Who sent you? Randi? My mom?
Brot: Wrong again, my friend. It was your dad. He's worried about you, Frankie. All of us are.
Frankie: I don't care. About you, them -- I don't care about anything anymore.
Randi: Got a minute?
Taylor: That is so weird. I was just calling you. We're on the same wavelength. How's the patient? Sit down.
Randi: Pretty much the same as the last time you saw him.
Taylor: Oh, that good, huh?
Randi: I don't know what to do, Taylor.
Taylor: About Frankie?
Randi: About anything.
Taylor: Please don't give up on him. Please.
Randi: I don't want to give up on him. Do I have any other choice?
Taylor: Yes, you have a choice. Everything is a choice. You made a choice to go to Germany to face him head on, even when you knew he didn't want to see you.
Randi: Yeah, exactly, and look how that turned out.
Ryan: It was -- it was Emma. She wanted to come over. She wanted to see Spike and Ian, so --
Kendall: So where's Spike?
Ryan: He's conked out upstairs. I think he got a little worked up waiting for his little brother to come home, so --
Kendall: Conking out, yes. I think that is something Mr. Ian can use right now. Yeah, we can use some resting time, huh, honey? That's right.
Emma: Can I come?
Kendall: Of course, you can come. Maybe you can help me read Ian a story. Yeah, let's go.
Ryan: I'm sorry if I stepped on your homecoming.
Zach: Would you like a cocktail?
Ryan: No, I'm good. Thank you.
Zach: Suit yourself.
Ryan: I assume that Kendall told you that we're not together anymore.
Zach: Whatever you guys do or don't do, that's none of my business. But you in my house whenever you choose, is that how it's going to be? You're going to come over here whenever you want?
Ryan: My son sleeps in this house.
Zach: And you used to sleep in this house, in my bed, with my wife, so you can see how I would have a problem with that.
Ryan: So, you got a solution to this problem that you seem to be having, Zach?
Zach: Not one you would like.
Ryan: I came here because Emma wanted to see Spike and to see Ian, and I was hopefully going to find some peace in all this craziness.
Zach: You didn't come here to find peace.
Ryan: I didn't come here, because I still want Kendall, if that's what you're saying, Zach.
Zach: Well, if you choose to want her again, just know that she's been through a lot.
Ryan: You know what? I don't really need you to tell me what she's been through.
Zach: What do you need?
Ryan: I need you to back off. I'm trying to do the right thing here, ok?
Kendall: Ryan. Ryan, stop it.
Randi: He wants nothing to do with me.
Taylor: He's just saying that.
Randi: No, he means it. He thinks he's failed me, but the truth is, I failed him.
Randi: The pain he's going through -- the humiliation -- I just make it harder on him. Every time he looks at me, I'm just a reminder of who he was.
Taylor: Boy, that's familiar. Do you still love him?
Randi: Of course. Of course, I love him, but I can't help him.
Taylor: Well, not today, obviously. Not tomorrow, or probably not even next week, but eventually, he's going to come around, Randi, and when he does, you have to be there for him.
Randi: He's got family. He has friends.
Taylor: Not them -- his wife, and he was there for you. Remember that? Don't walk away. If you walk away, you are the one who is going to lose the most.
Brot: You know what, Frankie? Stop me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you're probably feeling lost right now, maybe even useless. Like you'll never get back to the man you were.
Frankie: I don't even remember who that guy was.
Brot: I do, just like you and Taylor knew who I was and forced me to let you guys in. I'm glad I let you in, because that's when I really started to heal. I've been there, Frankie.
Frankie: Really? Really? You were the one on the road to become a surgeon? You were the one who had his chief of staff at your hospital seek you out just to tell you that he wanted to mentor you? That was my future, and all I needed were these. It's gone now.
Brot: You're right.
Frankie: I know I'm right.
Brot: I don't know where you're coming from.
Frankie: No, you don't.
Brot: Because I didn't have the education you did, or the opportunities. You joined the Army after 9/11 because you wanted a break from your career and a chance to give back. On the other hand, I joined because, hell, I didn't know what else to do with my life. You know, I didn't have a medical diploma, or some souped-up resume. I was just another soldier with a rifle.
Frankie: So, let me get this straight. I was some spoiled brat? Is that it?
Brot: No, no. I'm not saying that at all. What I'm saying is, now you're like me. Your hands are messed up. Yeah, and my face? It's my face. Does it suck? Yeah, it sucks, man, but we're alive, and we have a family. How many soldiers didn't get a chance to say that? Frankie, don't dishonor their memory by wasting yours.
Jesse: So you're sure you want me to do this? Once I do, he's all yours.
Liza: I understand.
Jesse: And it means you've got to drive him to the hospital, take full responsibility.
Liza: I get it, Jesse.
Jesse: Ok, then.
David: All right. So that's it? Is that all? Want to go?
Jesse: That's it.
David: Good. Ok, come on, let's go.
Jesse: Hey, Hayward, next time you decide to kill yourself, do it at home. Leave my streets and my officers out of it. You got it?
Tad: Oh, Marissa.
Marissa: What happened? Are they hurt? Dead?
Tad: Nobody's dead, ok.
Marissa: Just tell me.
Tad: Nobody's dead.
Marissa: Thank God.
Tad: It was just that, well, David's been taken. He was arrested for drunk driving.
Marissa: Wait, what? I thought Krystal was driving him home.
Tad: So did I. There was a change of plan. Apparently they hit a guardrail, and he's fine, ok?
J.R.: Of course.
Tad: But Krystal -- they brought her in. They're doing a CT scan right now.
Marissa: So no one's dead?
Tad: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, sweetheart. I realized the minute I hung up the phone I had no right to do that to you. It was just the first thing that came out of my mouth.
Marissa: When you called, I couldn't breathe.
Kendall: Can we not do this, please?
Ryan: Hey, Kendall, I didn't come here to fight, ok? I really --
Zach: No, you did not. It was Emma's idea.
Ryan: You know what?
Kendall: All right, stop. Stop, both of you. Come on, you're acting like idiots. God, I wish she was here.
Kendall: Greenlee. If Greenlee was here, she would have put you both in your place right now, before you even knew what hit you.
Ryan: Hey, Kendall, can we do this without bringing Greenlee into it? Ok?
Kendall: Why? Why can't we talk about her? She was practically my sister. She was your fiancé, and the woman who kept you alive in that bomb shelter. Greenlee meant so much to all of us. It wasn't so long ago that we were all really close.
Ryan: Yeah? Well, then why does it feel like forever?
Brot: Hey. Double-fisting on me?
Taylor: This is for you. I hope you want a beer.
Brot: Yes, I do. Thank you. Have a seat.
Taylor: Is everything ok?
Brot: Not really. I just came from seeing Frankie. That boy is not a good place.
Taylor: No, no, no. I meant, um, is everything ok with you?
Brot: That's what I was trying to tell you.
Taylor: No, you were telling me about Frankie, and he's in a bad way. I know that. I actually just had a very long conversation with Randi about that.
Brot: What's your problem?
Taylor: What's my problem? My problem is that you went to Germany for two weeks, and I never heard from you, and then I just saw you at the Hubbards'. I don't even get a "hello." Frankie's in a bad way. I get that. But I haven't seen you. Could we just have a little time together? Can we have a night together, and have some drinks, and --
Brot: I can't believe you're making this about you. Are we really fighting about this, or is it -- or is it something else?
Taylor: It's not about me. It's about you and me, and how I don't have any idea who we are anymore. Brot, there's something different here. I mean, don't you feel that?
Brot: I don't know what you're talking about.
Taylor: You know, when we were in Iraq, that was a rush, 24/7, you know? That was constant adrenaline and constant excitement, and to fall in love with somebody on top of that? I look back on that now, and I think that was our honeymoon period, as weird as that sounds.
Brot: And now?
Taylor: Things are different. I thought -- I thought it was enough just to have you back alive. I thought that we could go back to what we were, but we can't do that, can we?
Brot: I guess not.
Taylor: What do we do now?
Jesse: Hey, there's my beautiful daughter-in-law.
Jesse: How you doing? Good to see you.
Randi: You, too. Is Frankie here?
Jesse: Fire escape. He's not too chatty today, though.
Randi: I know this is your place and all, but do you --
Jesse: Say no more. I'm out of here. Do me a favor, though. Don't get too discouraged if you don't get very far.
Randi: Well, I won't go anywhere if I don't try, right?
Jesse: That's my girl. That's a lucky guy out there. Don't let him tell you any different, ok?
Randi: I won't.
Jesse: Go get him.
Randi: Hey. So, you're still not talking to me. That's ok, because, you know, as much as this silent treatment sucks, it's not enough to get rid of me, Frankie. So I'm going to go inside, and I'm going to start cooking dinner, and if you want to join me, you can. And if you don't, then don't -- your choice.
Marissa: How are you feeling?
Tad: No. No, honey, it's Tad and Marissa.
Angie: Sweetheart, you were in an accident. Do you remember?
Krystal: Yeah. I was in the car with David. Is he ok?
Tad: Yeah, well --
Angie: David is fine.
Tad: Not a scratch on him.
Angie: But you collapsed. You're in the hospital. Now, we ran a CT, and you have a concussion.
Marissa: But she's going to be ok, right?
Angie: Yeah, as long as she gets some rest. We're going to keep you overnight for observation, ok?
Krystal: I'm so glad you're here.
David: Is she in there?
Tad: Yeah, and the good news is she's alive, no thanks to you. You do know that you could have killed her, right?
David: But I didn't.
Tad: That's all you've got to say?
David: To you? Yes.
David: I am so sorry, Krystal.
Krystal: It's just a concussion.
David: Thank God. I don't know what I would have done.
Marissa: Do you have any idea how lucky you are? You could be dead, both of you, because of sheer stupidity. You're the chief of staff at this hospital. What the hell were you thinking, driving around bombed?
Krystal: He wasn't thinking.
Marissa: So what's your excuse, then? Jumping in the car with him like that would accomplish anything. Did I even cross your mind?
Marissa: No, I'm serious. Did I? I've already lost one set of parents. I am not ready to go through that again.
Krystal: Marissa. David, go after her.
David: She'll be fine.
Krystal: David, but her parents -- I mean, we were in a car accident, too. I mean, it must have been like history repeating itself.
David: I'll talk to her -- I will. But right now I'm just concerned about you.
Liza: Just wondering where the happy, dart-throwing Tad went.
Tad: He usually takes off for the hills the minute the crap hits the fan. I'm just not feeling the love right now, I guess.
Liza: And Krystal?
Tad: You realize she asked for him the minute she opened her eyes? It was the first thing on her mind.
Liza: And you wish it was you.
Tad: I wish my head wasn't killing me.
Liza: Tad, do you want to be back with Krystal?
Tad: Yeah, the good guy stands a chance after sparring with Hayward.
Liza: Why not? Hey, I fell in love with you once upon a time. And if you ignore all the snoring and the shameless flirting, and that hammerhead big toe, honey, you are quite a catch.
Angie: Hey, what are you doing here?
Jesse: I figured I'd check up on Krystal. Is she doing ok?
Angie: Uh, she's got a concussion, but she'll live. What's in the bag?
Jesse: Well, Krystal's not the only reason I'm here. I figured you'd be working late, so I'd bring some dinner for you.
Angie: Thank you.
Jesse: And she's not hungry.
Angie: I can't stop thinking about Frankie.
Jesse: Hey, baby, I feel you. I know how you feel. He's our son, ok? He's going to get through this.
Angie: Physically, but what about the rest? Jesse, Frankie's dream has been to become a surgeon. And now --
Jesse: And now he becomes something else.
Angie: Come on. Can you honestly say that if you were a professor right now, you'd be happy?
Jesse: I can honestly say that we just need to be there for him right now, more than ever. For him and Randi, because they both need us right now, more than ever.
Ryan: I don't want to talk about Greenlee right now.
Kendall: Well, I don't want you to fight Zach right now.
Ryan: I --
Zach: Ok, no more Greenlee, no more fighting. How does that sound?
Kendall: There's a really good chance that I could go to prison for a very long time.
Ryan: That is not going to happen, Kendall.
Zach: It can't happen.
Kendall: Well, I'm counting on that. I'm counting on both of you. I know this is not an ideal situation, but I really need the two of you working together, not at each other's throats. You're probably the only chance that I have to get out of this.
Ryan: Kendall, we get it, ok? Full support right here.
Kendall: Thank you.
Ryan: Whatever the next move is, you can count me in, ok?
Zach: We appreciate it.
Ryan: There she is. How's my little sweetheart? I think it's time for us to go, ok? We got to get out of here.
Emma: Can we stay?
Ryan: Oh, no, I don't think that's a great idea. Zach and Kendall have their hands full, ok?
Kendall: You know what, Emma? Maybe some other time. Definitely.
Ryan: I'm really happy that Ian's home.
Ryan: I'll be up in a sec to read books, ok? You brush your teeth, and not just the loose ones, ok? All of them. Liza. A little late for a social call.
Liza: I'm here on business.
Ryan: Ah, a little late for a business call, too, but come on in.
Liza: So, Ryan, I want you to tell me everything about Annie. Your relationship, what went wrong -- everything.
Ryan: So you can help get her released? No.
Liza: Annie said everything that she did was for Emma.
Ryan: How does killing people help Emma?
Liza: Look, Ryan, I am not here to hurt anyone.
Ryan: Oh, ok, good. Well, then drop the case.
Liza: Yeah, I can't.
Ryan: Right, you can't. How much is Adam paying you, anyway?
Liza: It's not about the money.
Ryan: Really? Well, then what is it about, Liza? I mean, is the story that intriguing? And I'm glad -- I'm glad you're entertained by it, but this is my daughter's life that we're talking about here, ok?
Liza: I just want to hear the truth.
Ryan: Ok. But just remember, you asked for it.
Kendall: Do you really think we can clear my name?
Zach: If we can get to the DA, we've got a shot. Henry North -- he's the only thing standing between you and your freedom. I don't get it. Even Jesse's out there looking for suspects. And this guy -- young and ambitious, just looking for the high profile case.
Kendall: It doesn't get more high profile than convicting Erica Kane's daughter.
Zach: Not around here, no.
Kendall: When you say get to him, what does that mean exactly?
Zach: You know, get to him.
Kendall: Don't do anything crazy, all right? Please, just promise me you won't lose control.
J.R.: Is Krystal ok?
Marissa: Depends on your definition of ok.
J.R.: I'm so sorry. I know how much you miss your parents. It must have been awful for you to relive this.
Marissa: It would have been my fault again.
J.R.: What are you talking about?
Marissa: I was the one who was supposed to drive David home, but then Krystal came and said she'd take him. I let her have the keys, J.R.
J.R.: But that doesn't mean that -- why do you think it's your fault again?
Marissa: The night my parents died, they were driving home from a potluck dinner after church. They had wanted me to come, but I said no. I had too much studying to do. The truth is, I just didn't feel like it. It was a Saturday night. Who wants to be at church, you know? The car went off the road because my father fell asleep. If I had been there, I could have seen that he was tired. I could have offered to drive them home. I could have, but I didn't. It was a Saturday night, and I had better things to do. It was me. I killed my parents.
Krystal: I'm glad you're ok. I was a little confused after the accident. I can't really remember what happened.
David: What happened is, you tried to save my life. It's becoming quite the habit with you.
Krystal: I'm sorry about Amanda's baby. That's too much pain for anyone.
David: Even me?
Krystal: Especially you. You've lost your fourth child. And the hole that that must create -- to think that I just gave Marissa away -- I'm just a horrible person.
David: No, Krystal, stop. Look at me. You did what you had to do. We're alike that way.
Krystal: How do you do it?
Krystal: Make it impossible for me to hate you.
Tad: Are you drinking alone, Lieutenant?
Taylor: Well, I've managed to scare off everybody else in my life. Yeah. Sit at your own risk.
Tad: I'll take my chances. So, rough day?
Taylor: I had a fight with my boyfriend. I think, after analyzing it, it was my fault.
Tad: Wow, that's almost interesting. Could I have a beer?
Taylor: Thanks a lot. I expected a little empathy from Mr. Happy.
Tad: Well, forget Mr. Happy. He took off a couple hours ago.
Taylor: Why, what happened to you?
Tad: Ah --
Taylor: Did he have a fight with his boyfriend, too?
Tad: Touché. No, I got to tell you, it was one of those moments, you know? It just hits you. You look into a mirror and your life looks back, and it's not all that great.
Taylor: That's what happened to me. What's your story?
Tad: I guess the simplest way to put it would be that I finally realized once and for all, bullet or no bullet, Tad the cad is officially gone.
Taylor: Who's Tad the cad? I just got here.
Tad: It's kind of ancient history. He was around a long time before Mr. Happy.
Tad: Well, what the hell? I'm not doing so bad. It could be worse.
Taylor: I don't know, the way you describe it, it sounds pretty depressing.
Tad: Let's cheer you up. Oh, you know what they say. Laugh, and the whole world laughs with you. Cry, and you cry alone.
Taylor: You cry alone. I know. Well, I'll drink with you. You're not alone.
Tad: No, I'm not.
Frankie: I can't hold the fork.
[Randi starts to feed Frankie]
Zach: Ok, what you said before. I won't do anything crazy.
Kendall: Thank you.
Zach: That's it? You're going to believe me, just like that?
Kendall: Yeah, I guess I do. Just like that.
Ryan: Look, I'm not a psychiatrist, so I don't know why Annie went from a kind, loving mother to a knife-wielding maniac. I don't know.
Liza: Is it really that difficult to understand? Her brother killed her best friend and then blamed it on Annie, who was a 7-year-old little girl.
Ryan: Yeah, no, I heard that one, but even that doesn't give her a free pass to go on a crime spree.
Liza: You're right. Her brother wasn't solely to blame. There were other players involved.
Ryan: Like me.
Liza: Well, you were married to Annie, and you were in love with someone else.
Ryan: Ok, we're done.
Liza: Look, Ryan --
Ryan: No, we're done. We're done, ok? Greenlee's gone. She's dead, and I'm not letting you drag her memory through the mud to keep Annie out of jail.
Taylor: You know, couples fight all the time. I know that. We fight. But there was just something different about it this time.
Tad: Oh, come on, sweetheart, you sure you're not reading too much into it? Maybe the reason, you know, you guys fight like that is you do love each other so much.
Taylor: Maybe it's because we're trying to -- we're trying so hard to force ourselves to. Something is missing. It is. And I don't know if we can fix it.
Taylor: How do you drink this?
Tad: I find that I was in your position after three or four of these.
[Brot walks into ConFusion holding a bouquet of flowers then walks out when he sees Taylor and Tad laughing
Randi: Had enough?
David: Krystal, I am so sorry for all the pain I've caused you. And I promise you, if you give me another chance --
Krystal: David, it's over.
David: No, it doesn't have to be.
Krystal: I can't -- I can't keep doing this. I can't keep loving you and needing you only to have my heart crushed all over again.
David: I would never do that to you.
Krystal: You have. So if you really love me --
David: You know I do.
Krystal: Go. Leave me alone. Just go.
J.R.: You remind me so much of Babe right now. Taking responsibility, feeling guilty, especially when it came to David. God, I hated that. Watching her beat herself up and apologizing for something that she had nothing to do with.
Marissa: But if I had been there --
J.R.: You weren't. It still doesn't make it your fault. Your dad driving exhausted, David driving drunk, Krystal jumping into the passenger seat -- that was their choices. Crappy ones, but their choices, not yours.
Marissa: Thank you. You're a good friend, you know that?
J.R.: I don't have many of them, so I'm just going to take your word for it.
[J.R. and Marissa hug]
