Liza: I hear you've been looking for me.
Zach: Uh, I gave up my search.
Liza: Oh, you got bored?
Zach: No, just -- no names, no strings, that was the deal.
Liza: Ah, yeah. Well, that was a non-binding verbal agreement. It'd never hold up in court. You're Zach Slater, casino owner. And, well, you have something that I want.
Zach: You mean this?
[Zach holds up the Queen of Hearts]
Marissa: Hey. I wish law students got their own paralegals. This is -- you look wiped. You ok?
David: No, my nerves are shot from a five-hour cardio surgery.
Marissa: Do you want me out of your way?
David: No, no, that's all right. In fact, I could use your skills.
Marissa: Yeah, like I've got any.
David: No, right now all I need are your talents from your past job. Would you do me a favor and mix me a double dirty martini with a twist? Oh, I'm sorry, the cabinet over there has the liquor and the mixers, everything. I can get you some ice if you want.
Marissa: Um, no. I have a better technique for relaxing your nerves.
Stuart: I saw Adam at the gate, touching the ribbon.
Tad: Stuart, I want you to think very carefully. Could Adam have put the ribbon on the gate?
Stuart: Everybody knows that's the Satin Slayer who touched the ribbon and put the ribbon on the gate.
Jesse: Did you actually see this person?
Stuart: Um, no. If I had -- Dixie would be alive right now if I'd had seen that -- that creepy person.
Tad: But you didn't see Alexander Cambias? And you didn't see any strangers, right? All you saw was Adam at the gate with a ribbon, nothing else?
Stuart: Yeah, that's all I saw.
J.R.: Babe was the one who was supposed to die that day.
Adam: Because she worked at Fusion. All of the victims did.
J.R.: Did you kill my mother?
Adam: Are you out of your mind?
Erica: Adam? Adam, it's Erica. Let me in.
J.R.: Are you the one who killed my mother in cold blood?
Erica: Open up.
J.R.: Go away! Answer me. Answer me now. Did you -- did you kill my mother, Dad? Did you kill her?
Erica: Adam, are you all right?
J.R.: Look at me, look at me.
J.R.: Look at me.
J.R.: Answer me, damn you. Did you kill her?
Angie: Good news. Your heart is fine. Bad news, you're overstressed.
Opal: You don't know the half of it.
Angie: Well, I'm sure a mild sedative will do the trick. Your palpitations are probably coming from anxiety.
Opal: Anxiety would be like a spa day compared to the hair-raising visions that have been frying my brain lately.
Angie: Oh, Opal. I'm sorry, listen. Don't move, I'll be right back.
[After Opal sees a vision of Adam's dead body coming to life holding his exposed heart in his chest, she gasps for air, clutching her own chest]
[Knock at door]
Natalia: Dude, if I crash and burn on tomorrow's test, you are going to be seeing me 24/7, ok? Nighttime, back at the apartment, daytime answering the phones at Fusion if I can even get a job there. Oh, my God. All the cop shows, just -- what happened? What's wrong?
Natalia: How bad? Oh, baby.
Angie: Opal, Opal.
Opal: It's another one.
Opal: A ghost.
Angie: I'm sorry, what?
Opal: I saw a ghost right there, right there, plain as day. Oh, my gosh. Oh, and now he's gone. Up and vanished, just like that.
Angie: Listen, I want to set up a psychiatric consult, ok? Lana Verkoff is one of the best.
Opal: How's the varmint still breathing?
Angie: Opal, are you listening to me?
Opal: Honey, I've got to go.
Angie: Opal, wait a minute.
[Cell phone ringing]
Angie: Hello? Natalia, hi.
Jesse: Stuart, did Adam tell you why he didn't report the ribbon to the police?
Stuart: Are you trying to get Adam in trouble?
Tad: Stuart, do you think you know something that might make Adam look bad?
Stuart: The Satin Slayer killed Dixie and all the other people.
Tad: We need to talk about this.
Stuart: No, it was a terrible time, an awful time. We all grieved, you and J.R. and Krystal and little Adam. I don't want to think about those awful times anymore.
Jesse: Stuart, Stuart, wait.
Jesse: Natalia? Natalia, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Back -- slow down. What did you just say? I'm on my way.
Erica: Let me in.
J.R.: Very good, Dad. It's very good. You know, you're getting better and better at faking these seizures all the time.
Erica: Open this door.
J.R.: You know I think you missed your calling. You're such a brilliant actor.
Erica: J.R., do you hear me?
J.R.: You fooled the courtroom, including a judge. Do you know that you're going to have to give it up, Dad? Because you don't fool me anymore.
Erica: I'm going to break this door down if I have to.
J.R.: You know, I can always tell when you're lying. So, go ahead, lie to me, tell me the truth. You did it, didn't you? You killed my mother. Just say it!
J.R.: All right, all right --
Erica: Adam, are you all right?
J.R.: You know what? That's enough, Dad, that's enough. Just snap out of it.
J.R.: Come on, Dad. Get up.
Erica: Adam, answer me.
J.R.: Dad? Dad?
Erica: Adam? What's going on in here? Adam?
J.R.: I -- I --
Erica: Adam? Adam?
J.R.: I thought that he was faking it.
Erica: Adam, Adam, can you hear me? Adam, Adam? He's not faking it. This is real. Call 911. Adam? Come on. Adam, Adam.
Marissa: Does that hurt?
David: It feels a bit weird.
Marissa: Yeah, that's the knot in your back loosening up. Relax much?
David: Define "relax."
Marissa: I'm taking that as a "no."
Marissa: That better?
David: Much. Where did you learn this stuff?
Marissa: Around. So, famous heart doctor with the life-saving hands, what are you so tense about?
David: Yeah, right. You try holding a human heart in your hands.
Marissa: Yeah, good point.
David: A heart you want to keep beating, even after you've sliced it and stitched it up.
Marissa: Oh, God, that's scary as hell.
David: Um-hmm, sobering.
Marissa: You're the next best thing to God.
David: I don't know why, but people get offended when you talk like that.
Marissa: Oh, they're jealous. They ought to be kissing your feet.
David: Oh, no, no, no thank you. No foot kissing. I prefer buckets of cash, thank you. I mean, they're both ok, but cash is definitely better.
Marissa: Yeah, I love it that you're not holier-than-thou. Suddenly everybody wants to give back. You can't give back when you're stuck to the minimum wage.
David: No kidding.
Marissa: My solution is learn smart ways to make a lot of money before you can even think about giving.
David: You know, it used to be cool to be greedy till five minutes ago. But trust me. Greed will make a comeback. It never goes away. It just goes into hiding.
Marissa: I cannot wait to charge obscene amounts of money.
David: With your skill set, it's worth every penny. Panicked, rich clients will stumble into your office and glide out in the clear.
Marissa: Yeah, this might sound weird, but I think we're a lot alike.
David: Yeah, right. Virtual twins, you and I, huh? Except I'm not half as gorgeous, but why sweat the details? Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow --
Marissa: Ok. I'm so sorry. You really are wound up. There's only one way to fix this. Don't worry. It won't hurt a bit.
[Marissa straddles David who's lying prone on his living room floor]
Liza: That's a nice single malt.
Zach: I'm a barkeep.
Liza: And so much more.
Zach: What gives you that impression?
Liza: Well, I could recite your many strong points, but I think you're already keenly aware of them.
Zach: You know a lot of stuff, don't you?
Liza: I'm just very observant which is how I know that you cheated that night. I'd like my refund.
Liza: What are you talking about? Winner takes all.
Liza: Mm-hmm, not if you win by slight of hand. Oh, but don't get me wrong. That was quite a trick. It was amazing, that card switch, and actually everything else. If I were flush, I'd let you keep the chips as a sort of thank you.
Zach: Well, I don't take tips. I do take thank you's, so thank you for saying "thank you" and thank you for -- tell you what. One more game, and we'll settle this.
Liza: You know what? I've got a better idea. Why don't we cut to the chase? I'll shuffle and cut. We each draw a card. If my card's higher, you write me a check for every dollar I lost.
Zach: What if my card's higher?
Liza: I'll tell you my name. Are you in?
Zach: It's fair enough.
Zach: So how long are you going to make love to those cards?
Liza: Until they make me feel good.
Zach: All right, so here's to feeling good.
Liza: No, here's to feeling extremely good as long and as often as possible.
Zach: Here's to that.
Adam: Where were you?
Erica: It's all right, Adam, I'm here.
Adam: Leave me alone. Just leave me alone.
J.R.: He has a history with strokes. He had a heart attack like two years ago.
EMT: Got it.
Adam: No, no.
Erica: Don't worry, Adam. I'm coming right behind you. Don't you worry. What the hell did you do to him?
J.R.: I didn't think that it was real. I -- Alex Cambias wrote a book.
Erica: I know all about that.
J.R.: Well, he swears that he didn't kill my mother.
Erica: So you believed the rantings of a maniac?
J.R.: The food was poisoned for Babe. Adam hates Babe with a passion. He hated her.
Erica: Well, I didn't like Babe much either. Do you think I killed her, too?
J.R.: No, I just --
Erica: Adam is no more of a killer than I am. You torment your father like that? You should be ashamed of yourself.
David: Oh, my gosh, don't stop ever.
Marissa: Does that feel better?
David: Where have you been all my life?
Marissa: You have the pressure on you, the tension. You need a massage at least twice a week.
Marissa: How is that? Feel better?
David: Aah, feels like I died and went to heaven.
[Krystal walks in]
Liza: I like the feel of a silky, new deck. Thanks for indulging me.
Liza: Pick a card.
Zach: You go first.
Liza: No, please. After you.
Liza: What do you have?
Zach: Oh, come on. Talk about sleight of hand --
Liza: What a coincidence.
Zach: No, it's -- right, ok.
Liza: No, the queen of hearts is still on my person. It is. Go ahead, check.
Zach: I'll pass.
Liza: Going shy on me, hmm? Do you still think I'm scamming you?
Zach: No, if you were scamming me, you wouldn't leave anything in evidence.
Liza: The wife?
Liza: It's a big home. It must get lonely.
Zach: I don't get lonely. What's your name?
Liza: Ah, no, no, no. That's not part of our deal. Are you reneging?
Zach: Trying to write you a check. What's your name?
Zach: Why are you here in Pine Valley?
Liza: Why do you care?
Zach: Just making conversation. What is it? Is it a boyfriend, family, anything? Give me a hint.
Liza: The tree of life, fountain of youth, the end of the rainbow, things like that.
Zach: I think you're big trouble.
Jesse: What happened?
Natalia: They called Randi. The Army.
Jesse: What'd they say?
Randi: An officer stateside. He said his name, but I don't remember.
Jesse: His words, exact, to you. Remember his exact words, Randi. Can you, can you --
Randi: Frankie's convoy ambushed.
Angie: [Moaning] Please tell me my baby's not dead.
David: Two massages a week, huh? I'm going to give up surgery and go live on a beach, sipping rum.
Marissa: Do you have to be so amped up to slice people's hearts?
David: I've never tried it any other way. Oh, my gosh. That was amazing. Oh, hey. Massage time.
Marissa: Your turn.
Krystal: I'll pass.
David: Are you kidding? You don't know what you'd be missing.
Krystal: Some other time. You must be tuckered out.
Erica: Adam is simply exhausted.
Colby: Seems like way more than that.
Erica: Well, I mean with all the economic chaos and the downsizing of Chandler Industries, it's been a very stressful time.
Colby: My father exists on stress.
Erica: But a steady diet of stress can cause consequences.
Colby: Seems like the consequences are taking over, ok? I've never seen my dad like this.
Erica: But the doctors here will make him well.
Colby: Why are you so quiet? Do you know something I don't?
Tad: J.R.? I got your message about Adam. You sounded freaked.
J.R.: He'll be fine.
Colby: You don't know that. And neither do I.
Erica: Look, Adam really is in very good hands. Dr. Patel has an excellent reputation.
Dr. Patel: One at a time, please.
[Colby goes in to see her dad]
J.R.: I confronted him about killing my mom.
Erica: And he was relentless. He just wouldn't give up until the poor man collapsed.
Gayle: Adam Chandler's just been admitted. He had a seizure.
David: How distressing.
Gayle: Apparently he's taking his meds on a regular basis.
David: I'll be right there.
Krystal: Got to go?
David: Yeah -- yeah, it's an emergency.
Krystal: Should I hold dinner?
David: No, no, that's ok. Thanks for the massage. You know you really should take her up on her offer. This girl has magic hands.
Marissa: Thank you for not mentioning the massage parlor credentials.
Krystal: Thank me by keeping your hands off my husband.
Marissa: You're accusing me of coming onto David?
Krystal: I'm just saying, respect some boundaries, ok?
Marissa: In your very own home? In your living room? You must think that I'm a serious ho.
Tad: You confront a man like your father, what the hell do you think is going to happen? You thought he was just going to fold and admit it?
J.R.: Look, I felt like I was going to explode, ok? I tried to hold back, but I couldn't.
Tad: J.R., I told you I would handle it.
Erica: Have you both lost your minds? Alexander Cambias murdered Dixie.
Tad: Maybe and maybe not.
Erica: You're buying into that madman's book?
Tad: Well, let's just say I came across some information I can't exactly ignore.
[Stuart recalls seeing Adam by the gate]
Adam: Oh, Stuart. Don't sneak up on me like that.
Stuart: I wasn't sneaking. I was just walking.
Adam: You didn't see me here. Understand?
Stuart: But I'm looking right at you.
Adam: It's our little secret. Just give me your word.
Adam: Just promise me, you'll tell no one.
Stuart: Ok. Ok, I promise.
J.R.: Uncle Stuart saw Dad touching the ribbon.
Tad: That's what he says.
J.R.: And Uncle Stuart never lies.
Tad: Where are you going?
J.R.: Anywhere but here.
Erica: Tad? Look, I don't care if Adam wrapped himself in white satin ribbon head to toe, mummy style. There's no possible way that Adam murdered Dixie.
Tad: I hope to hell you're right.
Erica: I don't believe it. You're kidding, right?
David: Do I look like I'm kidding?
Erica: Well, yes. I mean, you must understand that the Chandler family wouldn't allow you within a hundred yards of Adam.
David: Well, all I see is a sick man in bed and a frightened young girl. Do you see any other Chandlers lurking around? I don't. Excuse me.
Colby: No way you're treating my father.
David: Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I am the cardiologist on call.
Colby: Get someone else.
David: Ok, fine. How about a pediatrician, hmm? Or a dermatologist to examine his skin?
Colby: A neurologist. He had a seizure.
David: Dr. Patel is a neurologist. He already examined your father. The seizure may have affected Adam's heart. That's why Patel called me in. The next cardiologist is on call in about six hours from now.
Colby: He won't wake up.
David: He's post-ictal. It's a normal stage in the seizure pattern. So where are we right now? Do I leave or do you?
Colby: I'll be right outside.
Krystal: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to accuse you. I'm obviously just feeling insecure.
Marissa: Look, David asked for a drink that I don't know how to make, because we told him I was a bartender, not an unlicensed masseuse. So I sold him on the idea of a massage, which is something I know how to do.
Krystal: I -- I overreacted.
Marissa: Look, I wasn't making the moves on David, ok? And David wasn't making the moves on me. He's, like, old enough to be my father. Not really into the whole daddy thing. Not to mention the fact that you are my very good friend. What kind of skank would I have to be?
Krystal: I was out of line.
Marissa: You know, his back hurt. His neck. I just helped him.
Krystal: I know, I know. I can see that. It's just that, well, David and I just got back together, and I guess I'm still a little shaky.
Marissa: Look, this is completely none of my business, but I'm just going to ask anyway. Did David have some sort of fly-by hookup with another woman?
Krystal: No. No, no, it's nothing like that. He was counting on me, and I let him down.
Marissa: Yeah, I know. You told me that, but you never got into how exactly.
Krystal: Well, we were trying to get custody of our grandson.
Marissa: Little A, right? Yeah. I met him, actually. He's a sweet little boy.
Krystal: You met him? How?
Marissa: With his dad, near the Yacht Club. So you were trying to get him away from his father?
Krystal: Yeah. J.R. has serious problems with liquor, and he started drinking again when Babe died.
Marissa: So how did J.R. end up winning custody then?
Krystal: I sort of blew our chances in family court when I took the stand.
Marissa: Did you panic?
Krystal: You know, this is kind of painful to think about, much less try to explain. The bottom line is, I was sure David would dump me. He didn't. And I am still amazed.
Marissa: Look, David is crazy about you, ok? Even I know that. You should have heard the warning he whipped out on me.
Krystal: He threatened you?
Marissa: He just swore to me that I wouldn't be a very happy camper if I hurt you or used you in any way.
Liza: What kind of trouble do you think I am?
Zach: The question is, do I want to find out?
Liza: I think you do.
Zach: Your name.
Liza: My check. So what do I look like? Do I look like a Katherine? A Brenda? Maybe an Angeline?
Ian: [Crying over monitor]
Liza: You have a child.
Zach: I got two. Excuse me.
Jesse: Baby, our boy is alive, ok? He's alive. I can feel --
Angie: I'm going be sick.
Natalia: They didn't say anything about casualties, did they?
Randi: Ambushed. Convoy ambushed. That's all he said. Everything else didn't make any sense.
Taylor: I was in an ambush. With Frankie. And, listen to me, we both came home to tell the story. He has seen a lot of fire. He is fast on his feet, and he keeps his wits about him.
Randi: They called me, Taylor. It can't be good.
Taylor: A call is good news. Because when there's a -- when there's a fatality, there's a knock at the door. A soldier does that in person.
[Knock at door]
[Knock at door]
Angie: Don't answer it. No, no.
Brot: Hey. What happened?
Jesse: It's ok.
Brot: Frankie will be all right, ok? He'll be just fine.
Angie: How do you know?
Taylor: Because as good a doctor as he is, he's an even better soldier, I promise.
Brot: He's the only reason that I'm still here. Only me and God know how many other soldiers he saved.
Angie: Keep talking, please.
Brot: His instincts -- Frankie is incredibly sharp.
Taylor: He is always two breaths ahead. Always has been.
Randi: Are you sure?
Brot: Come on. We lived with Frankie. We've seen him in action on the ground. He's going to be fine.
Angie: Yes, I -- I know what he's like in the ER. I mean, he's smart. He's quick. If Frankie is like that in battle --
Brot: He's exactly like that.
Taylor: All the time.
Randi: He has to come home. He has to come home.
Natalia: He will, ok? He will. He'll be back. Don't worry.
Jesse: He didn't marry you to leave you alone, Randi. You hear me? He's coming back to his wife.
Brot: God owes Frankie a pass for saving all those soldiers and for keeping so many families whole.
Gayle: The readings from the latest blood draw.
David: Inconclusive. We'll have to step up the treatment. You can be in charge of that.
Gayle: But without sufficient access, I'm not sure I --
David: You'll have access. I'll handle it.
Opal: Oh, thank goodness you're here. Either the world is coming to an end or I am losing my mind.
Krystal: What is wrong?
Opal: Oh, I'm talking end time, the apocalypse. I've had visions before, you know, but nothing ever like this.
Krystal: Marissa, this is my friend Opal. Opal, this is Marissa Tasker.
Opal: A woman who needs to talk to somebody who won't call the little men in the white coats.
Marissa: Look, I'll get out of your way.
Opal: I -- I'm not usually so rude. And we'll have a nice conversation sometime -- that is, if the planet doesn't burst into flames.
Marissa: Ok, then. Nice to meet you.
Opal: Yeah, I know it's hard to believe, but I'm usually much, much calmer. Oh.
Krystal: Opal, what is happening?
Opal: I just know that all of this has something to do with that Cambias book.
Krystal: Look, everybody is freaked out about that Cambias book. You just got to put it out of your mind.
Opal: I would love to put it out of my mind, but the visions, they are coming at me. They're hitting me right and left. I mean, first there was Annie on the terrace with that bloody hand. Then -- then my Tad with blood all over his face. And now Adam Chandler dead as a doornail, sits bolt upright on the gurney, his heart all open, gushing blood.
Krystal: Oh, well, you know it's a fantasy, because Adam doesn't have a heart.
Opal: Listen, that's not even the worst of it. On my way over here, I passed the Chandler mansion. You know those little attic windows? They were all burning red like eyes dripping with blood. Now you can't tell me that doesn't foretell some horrors from hell.
Angie: Let the love and fineness in my baby's beautiful heart and the love for Frankie's in ours -- let it come together in holy white light to surround our son, brother, husband, and friend. And, please, please, dear God, let your mercy make our love a shield to protect the gift that is Frankie. In the name of the father, and the son, and the holy spirit.
Angie: We're going to keep this candle burning until Frankie comes home safe.
Liza: Is it a boy or a girl?
Zach: A boy.
Liza: Oh. And the other one?
Liza: So is the baby all right?
Zach: Yeah. He's just upset. He wants to know what your name is.
Liza: He does, huh? Well, what name does he like? Dana? Yeah, that's good. Tell him my name is Dana.
Zach: Why so many secrets?
Liza: You are recently divorced from a beautiful woman whose picture is still on your shelf. You got two children. One of them is a baby. And you run a casino. You think I'm big trouble?
Colby: How's my dad?
David: His vitals are stable. He's more alert. We still haven't been able to hone in the cause of the seizure, but we're going to keep him here for 24 hours just to observe him.
Colby: What if you still don't know why the seizure happened?
David: Dr. Patel suggests Adam have home care with a private duty nurse.
Colby: How do you find one?
[Clap of thunder]
David: Well, the hospital will help you with that.
Erica: It's all right, Adam. It's just thunder. I used to be terrified of electrical storms, remember?
Erica: Do you know where you are?
Adam: In a hospital.
Erica: You had another seizure. Do you remember that?
Adam: Yes. J.R. was there.
Erica: Yes, he was. J.R. seems to think that you are responsible for his mother's death somehow. Adam, I need you to be perfectly honest. Were you involved in Dixie's death in any way? Adam? Did you kill Dixie?
Adam: Honestly... I don't know.
[Krystal gasps when she sees Tad at Adam's desk]
