Annie: I don't know. I feel grounded, I guess, like I'm finally getting back to who I was.
Dr. Burke: I've seen great improvement, Annie, and ever since you unearthed that memory --
Annie: I don't want to talk about the past, not anymore. The only thing that matters is getting home to my little girl.
Aidan: You wanted to see me?
Ryan: Yeah, I thought you might be needing this.
Kendall: Hi, I'm Kendall Slater. I'm here for a follow-up with Dr. Hayward.
Gayle: Oh, I'm sorry. Dr. Hayward took a personal day. Dr. Shepherd's covering all his patients. I'll let him know you're here.
Kendall: Ok, thank you.
Joe: She's in with Adam, Room 315.
Kendall: Who -- who's in with Adam?
Joe: Well, I'm assuming you were after Erica.
Kendall: No, no, I came for my own appointment.
Kendall: But since we're both here, what room did you say again?
Judge's voice: Order in this court.
David's voice: Your honor, my wife is obviously not feeling well.
J.R.'s voice: Why, is she still popping pills? Hardly parent material.
David's voice: Oh, please, tell her you made a mistake.
Judge's voice: Gentleman, you will both sit down, or you will spend the rest of this proceeding sharing a cell.
Judge: Mrs. Hayward, your answer created quite an uproar. Perhaps you would care to enlighten the court as to why you now think you and your husband should not be granted custody of your grandson.
Krystal: Because David Hayward is not the man that you think he is.
David: Why are you doing this? Krystal, tell her that's not true, please.
Judge: Mr. Stark, get your client under control before I hold him in contempt. You may continue.
Krystal: My husband is obsessed, your honor. The man will do anything and say anything -- to get our grandson. He -- he paid a woman to get J.R. drunk to show that he is an unfit father. And he -- he blackmailed the judge that you replaced, trying to make sure that the hearing went his -- our way.
Stark: Your honor, your honor, this is hearsay. Mrs. Hayward has no --
Krystal: I was there! I was there, living in his house, sleeping in his bed. I know him better than anyone. And there is no line he won't cross, even with me.
Stark: Your -- objection, your honor.
Judge: Do I need to remind you that this is your witness? Proceed.
Krystal: David saw me as a golden ticket, a way to get Little Adam. But he knew that I had to marry him first so he -- he got me hooked on -- on pills, and he was using our -- our dead daughter's memory, I mean, basically to convince me that our love was real. But it wasn't about me. It wasn't about us. It was about trying to prove to the court that he could provide a stable home.
David: That is not true, and you know it. Krystal, it was never about you? I love you. You know that to be true.
Tad: Then why did you put a bruise on her face?
Adam: It's over. No judge in her right mind would give Hayward custody, not after that.
Erica: Well -- where do you think you're going?
Adam: I'm going to get dressed. I want to go home and welcome my grandson.
Erica: Well, you can forget it. You're not going anywhere.
Adam: What are you going to do, barricade the door?
Erica: If I have to. Adam, you are not well.
Adam: Oh. I see you need a refresher. I wasn't really feeling faint in the courtroom today.
Erica: But you really were confused. You really lost your train of thought, and it's not the first time, Adam. Look, you told me yourself, there's something going on with you. Now, wish you'd find out what.
Adam: I thought you understood.
Erica: Oh, I understand all right. And Joe's going to run some more test.
Adam: Uh, what? Oh, in the name of God, why, why?
Erica: Because I'm worried about you, ok? And if your children knew what was going on, they would be worried about you, too.
Adam: Oh, cut the dramatics. I've been poked and prodded within in an inch of my life. The doctors in Philly found nothing.
Erica: Well, maybe Joe will have better luck.
Adam: Uh -- [Adam scoffs]
Erica: Ok, excuse me, I'm -- I'm leaving. Be nice. Joe's only trying to help you.
Joe: So how are you feeling?
Erica: Is -- is Ian all right?
Kendall: He's fine, Mom. He's good. He's home with Zach.
Erica: Ah. So you're here for an appointment?
Kendall: Yeah, just a routine checkup with David, or whatever his name is filling in for him.
Erica: Oh, no, that's wonderful. Then things are just the way they should be, finally. You're healthy, Ian's healthy, and your family's back together again.
Kendall: Mother, stop it, please. I signed the divorce papers. Zach and I are done.
Ryan: You want to tell me what your cell phone was doing on my floor?
Aidan: Annie misses Emma a lot. It's pretty much all she thinks about.
Aidan: So I wanted Annie to have a piece of her daughter, so I took a picture of Emma.
Ryan: You wanted Annie to have a picture?
Ryan: So you broke into my place, and you stole it?
Aidan: Ryan, don't act like I had a choice.
Ryan: Excuse me?
Aidan: Well, you won't let Annie see Emma, so I gave her the next best thing.
Ryan: The next best thing for who?
Aidan: For Annie. She's been making major progress, ok? And I don't want anything to get in the way of that.
Ryan: Including the law, apparently.
Aidan: Well, it's never stopped me before.
Ryan: Well, something must be tripping you up. I mean, you left this cell phone on the floor, man. That's not Apecial Ops of you, is it?
Aidan: What can I say? I may be out of practice, so if you don't mind --
Ryan: I do mind, actually. I want you to tell me what's really going on here.
Annie: I'm just -- I'm so ready to get out of this place and be with my little girl.
Dr. Burke: Annie, you do realize what getting healthy means. You'll be deemed fit to stand trial and face the charges against you. It could be a long time before you see your daughter again. You understand that, right?
David: You are right about one thing.
Judge: Dr. Hayward, take your seat.
David: You do know me better than anyone. You know what's in my heart.
Judge: I won't tell you again.
David: You, Krystal. You're right here, along with our beautiful daughter and her beautiful son. And you're right, yes. I did want us to be a family.
Judge: I want Dr. Hayward removed from my courtroom --
David: Look at me, damn it! Why are you doing this to us? You know I would never hurt you. Why are you making me out to be such a monster?
J.R.: Because you are one.
David: Krystal, tell them the truth!
Jesse: You need to pull it together or you stay in jail tonight. It's your choice.
David: Ah, you must be loving this, huh? You get a front-row seat to watching my life get torched. They should have been serving popcorn.
Jesse: Yeah, maybe they should have. But, look, all I want is for that little boy to be happy, healthy, and safe.
David: Yeah, yeah, yeah, with his daddy, right? Well, lucky for you, Chief, Adam -- that son of a bitch -- he made sure that's exactly what will happen.
Judge: Why don't we take a quick recess -- give everyone a chance to regroup?
Barry: I think that's a good idea.
Krystal: Actually, I would just rather get this over with.
Judge: Very well. Counselor, your witness.
Barry: I really have only one question, your honor. Has David Hayward ever hit you? It's ok. Your husband's out in the hall. You're safe.
David: Look, do you hear me? Do you hear me?
Judge: Mrs. Hayward, we need an answer.
Krystal: Yes, David hurt me but he didn't mean --
Barry: Thank you. No further questions, your honor.
Erica: How could you be so selfish?
Kendall: Selfish? Everyone has been telling me to make a choice and decide who I love and move on, so I did. Just go ahead and say it. Say it. You think I chose wrong.
Erica: I think you're giving up on your family.
Kendall: What? Mom, who's the one who handed me the divorce papers? Zach -- Zach did. All I'm doing is giving him what he wanted.
Erica: Zach doesn't want a divorce. He wants you.
Kendall: Oh, really? Well, he's got a hell of a way of expressing it.
Erica: Well, the only reason that he had those papers drawn up is because you went running after Ryan. Only now it's different. Zach has -- he's moved back in.
Kendall: Yes, to be with the boys, not me.
Erica: Oh, you have to got to stop with this deluding yourself.
Kendall: Mother, you're the one who's been -- who's living in some fantasyland. What, you think if Zach and I play house for a few days, all of the sudden everything will be back to normal and great? I'm sorry, but that's not how it works.
Erica: Well, it might have. And running away from things, that is not going to solve any problems either.
Kendall: I'm not running away to anything, ok? I'm running to something.
Kendall: To someone.
Erica: Someone. Ryan.
Kendall: Yes. I love him. I'm sorry. I'm sorry you don't approve, but this is my life, which makes it my call.
Erica: You know something? It is your life. And I think it's high time that I make my own call. I'm finished.
Kendall: With what?
Erica: This whole situation. With you and Zach and Ryan. From now on, just leave me out of it.
Kendall: Well, I don't remember inviting you in it.
Erica: No, of course, you don't. Well, let me just assure you that this whole time, while you have been spinning out of control, believe me, I have been doing my best to protect you.
Kendall: Well, thank you, Mother, but I don't need saving.
Erica: Yes, you do.
Kendall: From what?
Erica: From yourself. You are destroying everything in life that is important, but you are too blind to see it. Well, I cannot be your eyes anymore. Sorry.
Judge: Mrs. Hayward, you may step down. If there are no other witnesses?
Barry: None on our end, your honor.
Stark: No, your honor.
Judge: Then I'm prepared to make my ruling.
Jesse: Judge make a decision?
Krystal: She's letting them know right now.
David: Doesn't take a genius, now, does it?
Krystal: David, could you give me a minute?
Krystal: Please, please, I just -- I just want to talk to you.
David: I think you've done enough talking for today.
Jesse: Hey, hey. Hey, maybe you might want to give him some time.
Krystal: To hate me even more?
Jesse: Look, I know it was rough getting up on that stand, saying what you said --
Krystal: You have no idea.
Jesse: Actually, yeah, I do.
J.R.: Oh! Yeah, buddy, I missed you.
Jesse: Look at this. Look how happy your little boy is in his father's arms. Tell me you didn't do the right thing.
Krystal: Oh, God, I hope so.
Aidan: I was just trying to make Annie smile, end of story. It's got nothing to do with you really.
Ryan: You broke into my home. It has everything to do with me.
Aidan: Oh, don't act like I broke in with a ski mask and tried to steal your jewelry. I took a picture.
Ryan: Without asking, without even knocking. What if -- if Emma came down and saw you?
Aidan: So what? She's seen me before.
Ryan: Don't you think she'd be a little freaked out, you standing in our living room?
Aidan: Ryan, if you're so concerned about Emma's well-being, maybe you should help her mother get better.
Ryan: I don't have a psychiatric degree, Aidan, and neither do you.
Aidan: It doesn't take a psychiatric degree to know what's going to help most. Annie just wants to see her little daughter for a little while.
Ryan: We've been over this already, ok?
Aidan: I'm not talking about a sleepover, Ryan, but an hour wouldn't hurt.
Ryan: How do you know that? One hour -- fifteen minutes with Annie could scar Emma for life.
Aidan: You don't know what you're talking about.
Ryan: Really? Really? 'Cause the last time I saw Annie, she -- she didn't look like she was all that cured to me. She looked a little angry, Aidan, like she was hanging onto the past a little bit, ok? And I'm not going to expose my daughter to that.
Aidan: It's hard to believe that you even loved Annie.
Ryan: Yeah? Well, it's hard to believe that she killed two people. But what are you going to do? Until Annie gets better, Emma stays here, ok? Until I get confirmation from a professional, Emma stays here.
Aidan: You know what? You're going to look back on this time, and you're going to wish you'd handled things differently.
Ryan: Yeah? Thanks for the insight. Get out of my house. Yes, I'd like to talk to Dr. Burke, please.
Jesse: Oh, ho, ho, little man, where's the fire? Huh? [Laughing]
Little Adam: I'm going to go home, Nana. Why are you sad?
Krystal: I'm not sad, honey. I'm crying because I'm happy.
J.R.: Thank you for what you said in there. I don't know if I would have won without you.
Colby: It was awesome.
J.R.: Hey, you want to go say thank you to Angie and Jesse for taking such good care of you? Yeah, let's do that.
Tad: What you did in there took real guts.
Krystal: I don't feel so brave right now.
Tad: Are you kidding? Not only did you finally see David for the man he is, you told the entire court about it.
Krystal: Oh -- I need to fix this?
Tad: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where do you think you're going?
Krystal: I've got to try to save my marriage.
Tad: After everything that just happened, you're -- you're going to go running back to David?
Krystal: I don't expect you to understand, Tad.
Tad: Well, good, because I don't. Krystal, you just told the entire court of law that he hit you.
Krystal: He didn't -- he would never hurt me that way, Tad.
Tad: But you just said to the judge --
Krystal: I said what I had to say. Now I have to leave.
Tad: No -- hey, hey, listen. You -- no, you can't go back to Wildwind, not now. It could be outright dangerous.
Krystal: I'm not afraid.
Tad: Well, you should be. Thanks to you, David Hayward lost his grandson. He's not going to let that go.
Krystal: I have to try and explain.
Tad: All right, ok, then just let me go with you, ok. At least I can be a buffer.
Krystal: No, no, no.
Tad: Krystal, you cannot be alone with him.
Krystal: I don't need you to protect me, Tad. All I need is my husband.
Tad: Oh, my God. You're still in love with him.
Man: Hey, hey, hey. You can't go in there.
Aidan: What do you mean I can't go in there? I pay you good money so I can see her anytime.
Man: I know. I -- I'm sorry. It's out of my hands. Annie's being transferred to another facility.
Aidan: But I thought she --
Man: They're prepping her to leave right now.
Aidan: What do you mean? She liked Dr. Burke. They were making good progress.
Man: I know. There's nothing I can do.
Aidan: What do you mean there's nothing you can do? You run this place. Block the transfer.
Man: The order came from a judge.
Aidan: A judge?
Man: Apparently Dr. Burke made a call, said you were interfering with Annie's treatment. He requested she be moved.
Aidan: I need to see her.
Man: I don't think that's going to be possible.
Aidan: I need to see her. I need to say goodbye.
Ryan: I love your picture. You're getting so good. But wait a minute, where's Spike? Where is he?
Emma: He's at his other house with Uncle Zach.
Ryan: Are you sure about that? Because I think the big guy's right here. Hi.
Kendall: Hi. Say hi to Daddy.
Ryan: How are you doing? Yeah, come in, come in. Yeah, hey, Emma, why don't you grab Spike, take him upstairs, and show him the coloring books that you have upstairs? And how about -- oh, and the kitten!
Kendall: Do you want to see the kitten?
Emma: We can watch the DVD Erica brought.
Ryan: Or you can watch the DVD that Erica brought. That's a great idea. Run up and show him.
Kendall: Yeah, why don't you Go have fun, you guys. Ok, Spike, go with your sister. Ok.
Kendall: Uh... she brought a DVD?
Ryan: Yeah, it was more like a bribe to keep her occupied while she dragged me off to Philly.
Kendall: Well, um, we don't have to worry about my mother anymore.
Ryan: Your mother was never really the problem.
Kendall: Well, it's over with Zach. I signed the divorce papers.
Ryan: That really doesn't change anything.
Erica: Oh, Joe. How -- how is Adam?
Joe: Well, the MRI was clear. We're still waiting on the blood work.
Erica: And, Joe, um, what about his -- his demeanor? Have -- have you noticed any change in his personality at all?
Joe: Uh, no. He's still as ornery as he ever was, and there's no treatment for that, unfortunately.
Joe: In any case, I'll let you know when we get the results.
Erica: Ok, thank you.
Erica: How are you feeling?
Adam: Same as before -- fine.
Erica: Joe told me that he didn't get all your test results back yet, but so far so good.
Adam: I can't believe you sicced that incompetent on me.
Erica: Oh, Joe is not incompetent. He used to be chief of staff here.
Adam: Exactly. Used to be.
Erica: Need I remind you that you asked me for my help?
Adam: A move I'm rapidly regretting.
Erica: Well, if you are dissatisfied with the way I'm handling things, you should find someone else.
Adam: No, I don't need anyone else. Now that I know that Little Adam is going home where he belongs, I couldn't be happier.
Erica: Is that so?
Adam: Yes, you -- you're seeing a new man.
Erica: Oh, how funny. I was thinking of an entirely different adjective to describe you.
Adam: Charming. Before you run along --
Erica: Run along?
Adam: Would you mind giving me my pants? They're on the chair right behind you.
Erica: I don't give a damn where your pants are. They're your pants, you get them.
[Erica flings Adam's pants out into the hallway]
Angie: I also put a book in here we were reading, because I thought Little A would want to know how it ends.
J.R.: Thank you for taking such good care of him. It's nice to know that he was with you guys instead of some random strangers.
Jesse: Oh, we had a great time. Didn't we, kiddo? Yeah.
Angie: Can I please get a hug? Oh, baby, you're such a good boy.
Jesse: We're going to really miss him, man. Actually, it kind of helped us keep our mind off Frankie leaving.
Angie: Yeah, the loft is going to feel so empty now.
Tad: Oh, honey, if you're craving chaos just stop by my place. It's like living in a clown car.
Jesse: Oh, please. I bet you're loving every second of it.
J.R.: Well, we probably should get going. I want to stop by the hospital to check on Dad, but we will see you guys soon.
J.R.: Say bye.
[Everyone says bye]
Tad: Bye, sweetheart.
Jesse: You ok?
Angie: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. It's Krystal we should be worried about. Where did she go?
Tad: Where do you think?
Krystal: David? Da -- I know you must hate me right now.
David: No. You're not the one I blame. I knew it. I knew Adam got to you some how, bullied you into changing your testimony.
Krystal: You don't understand.
David: You're right. I don't understand how it was that you didn't feel you could come to me. When did you stop trusting me, Krystal?
Krystal: This has nothing to do with trust.
David: Of course, it does. If you believed in us, you would've known that we could face anything together, but now -- I want to help you, Krystal.
Krystal: You can't.
David: Yes, I can. All you have to do is let me in. Talk to me. What does Adam have on you? You went to see Adam and everything changed. What did he say to you, Krystal? You can tell me anything.
Krystal: Not this. I can't. It's -- it's too late.
David: For what?
Krystal: You don't understand.
David: Krystal, I am trying to understand, because I love you, because I hate to see you hurting like this.
Krystal: How can you say that after what I did?
David: Uh, are -- are you protecting someone? Is it Adam?
David: Then who, Krystal? Who could possibly be more important to you than our own grandson, Babe's son?
Krystal: I can't -- I cannot do this, ok? I -- I'm sorry. I just -- I can't do this.
David: Oh, man. You know, I thought we were past all this -- the lies, the secrets. I thought when we said our vows in this very room they actually meant something.
Krystal: They did.
David: If that were true, then you would confide in me. You would trust that we could do anything together. This is obviously not the case.
Joe: What are you doing? What the hell are you doing?
Adam: I just -- um.
Joe: I'm not releasing you until I get the results of your blood work. Come on. Back into bed.
Adam: Yeah, when's that going to be? Sometime in the next century?
Joe: Come on, Adam. You're not the only patient in the hospital, and on top of that, we're short staffed.
Joe: We want you to be comfortable.
[After Joe hands him the TV remote control, Adam smashes it on the floor]
Colby: Hey, look who we've got.
J.R.: You up for visitors?
Adam: Oh, yes. Oh, come on, visitors. Visitors --
Little A: Grandpa, I'm coming home.
Colby: All right.
Adam: Do you have any idea how happy that makes me?
J.R.: We owe it all to Krystal. She completely sold David out.
Colby: I still don't get why she pulled a 180. I mean, she married the guy. Doesn't she love him?
Adam: Well, Krystal knew that home is where Little Adam belongs, and so she did what she had to do.
J.R.: Just like you did? Faltering on the stand?
Adam: Yes, that was rather convincing, wasn't it?
J.R.: So, it was all an act?
Adam: Oh, yes. Of course.
Colby: Are you sure, Dad? You're -- you're really fine?
Adam: Yes, I am fine. Why are you looking at me like that?
J.R.: You were admitted to a hospital in Philly not too long ago.
Adam: Yes, yes. There was nothing wrong with me -- like now. When we get my blood work back, you'll find out that there's nothing wrong with me now. So, why don't you guys run on home, get this little guy situated where he belongs, and I'll be -- I'll be coming along in a little while.
Colby: I can wait, hang out with you.
Adam: No. Um, no, there's no point in the both of us having to sit here in this hole. No, go on, go on. I'll be right behind you.
J.R.: All right, buddy.
Adam: What a guy, what a guy.
Adam: Oh, sweetheart.
Colby: All right, let's go.
Adam: Bye bye, bye bye.
J.R.: Bye bye.
Annie: Oh, my God. [Breathless] Oh, thank -- thank God you're here. I'm being moved.
Aidan: I know.
Annie: What? Why are they doing this?
Aidan: I have a feeling that Ryan's behind this.
Aidan: Yeah, I just came from his place and found the cell phone.
Annie: Oh, my God. Did Emma tell him that I was there?
Aidan: Well, I covered for you. I told him that I -- I broke in and stole the picture of Emma.
Annie: Did he believe you?
Aidan: It doesn't look like it, because he's getting you as far away from me as possible.
Annie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. This is all my fault. I should've just stayed here. Now I'm not going to be able to see you or Emma.
Aidan: Annie, it's going to be ok.
Annie: No, it's not going to be ok, Aidan. I can't do this without you. I mean, they won't even -- they won't even tell me where they're taking me.
Aidan: It's all right. It doesn't matter. I'll find you.
Aidan: I'm a PI, remember?
Annie: You're so much more than that.
Kendall: I made a choice.
Ryan: You signed some papers.
Kendall: I signed -- Ryan, I signed papers that signify a divorce. My marriage is over. I mean, that -- that changes everything.
Ryan: Ok, ok. So you're moving out? I didn't think so.
Kendall: I -- I will move out once Ian is fully recovered, but until then I can't leave my baby.
Ryan: I understand that, and until then I can't do this.
Kendall: Ok, well, now you're just being ridiculous.
Ryan: Why? Because I want to be with you, or because I don't want to visit you at your home and hang out with your ex-husband? I don't think that's so ridiculous.
Kendall: Well, Ryan, these aren't normal circumstances, ok? My son is sick.
Ryan: I know that, and I hate it, but what you're asking me to do --
Kendall: I'm asking you to meet me halfway, please. I love you, and I know this isn't ideal, but we can figure this out.
Ryan: Yeah, maybe when things settle down.
Kendall: No, no, no. Let's deal with it now.
Ryan: What do you want me to say?
Kendall: I want you to say that -- that you love me and that you want to make this work.
Ryan: I do. I do, but --
Kendall: But why does it have to be so difficult? Because. Because that's life. Life is difficult. It's -- it's messy, and complicated, and filled with difficult choices. I -- I've made mine. Now it's your turn. Why can't you just do this for me?
Ryan: Don't do that. Don't turn this around and make me look like the bad guy here, ok?
Kendall: Why? Because that position belongs to me?
Ryan: No, Kendall. Nobody is at fault here. This is -- this is just really, really bad timing.
Kendall: No, but, Ryan, it doesn't have to be. We can do this. We can -- we can make this work, all of us. You, and me, and Emma, and the boys, I think we can be a family. We just -- we can't live together right away. I want a life with you, I do. You love me. Isn't that enough?
Annie: Oh, let me -- I just have to get my picture -- ow.
Orderly: Sorry, we have to go.
Annie: No, I -- I just need to get a picture of my daughter. Get your hands off me. I have a picture of my daughter I'm trying to --
Dr. Burke: Annie, Annie. You need to calm down.
Annie: Ow, stop it!
[Annie breathes heavily]
Aidan: Everything's going to be ok.
Little Adam: Daddy, can I stay here forever? I'll be good.
J.R.: You listen to me, ok? None of this was your fault. You went to live with Angie and Jesse because of mistakes I made, not you.
Little Adam: Why?
J.R.: Why did I make the mistakes? Well, because after Mommy died I wasn't thinking very clearly, so the judge decided that it would be better if you lived with someone else until I felt better.
Little Adam: Do you feel better now?
J.R.: Every time I'm with you. I love you so much, and we're never going to be apart again. I promise.
Krystal: Oh, God, please! No. No.
Tad: Krystal? Where is he?
Krystal: He's gone.
Tad: Did he hurt you?
Krystal: No, no.
Tad: Did he touch you?
Krystal: No, he didn't. It's my fault. I did this.
Gayle: Room 315.
Adam: Ah, I see you've come to congratulate me on my big win.
David: You pathetic coward. Too weak to come after me yourself. You blackmail Krystal to do it for you, hmm? What do you have over her? What are you holding over my wife?
Adam: You know, secrets can really destroy a marriage. I learned that from Krystal first hand.
David: Really? Well, you're about to learn something else first hand.
[David approaches Adam with a hypodermic needle]
David: I don't take no for an answer.
