David: One word about our arrangement, and I will tell everyone, including J.R., that this baby belongs to me. A Hayward heir -- I couldn't be more thrilled.
Amanda: You will not take my baby away from me.
David: Not if you keep your mouth shut. So, Amanda, what's it going to be?
Amanda: I'll do whatever you want. But don't touch my baby, and don't tell J.R.
David: Yeah, that would wreck your chances of mooching off the Chandlers, now, wouldn't it? You keep those pretty lips sealed, and you will be fine.
Krystal: I need help. I think I killed Tad.
Colby: Was he dead or not?
Pete: It's open to interpretation. That's what makes the film so brilliant.
Colby: I liked it better when you had your thing for me. I got to pick the movies.
Pete: I still have my thing for you.
Colby: Pete, you know I can't -- fire!
Aidan: Wow. This certainly is an improvement.
Annie: I knew you'd come back.
Aidan: I've got some good news. But it has to be a secret.
Annie: Ok, promise.
Aidan: When you're better, I'm going to get you out of here. No more hospitals. No prison. You're going to be free.
Aidan: Don't ask. I've made an arrangement.
Annie: You would do that for me? Why?
Aidan: Because I care about you very much.
Annie: You're falling in love with me.
Kendall: Throughout all of this, I have never stopped loving you.
Zach: I know that. The problem is you never stopped loving Ryan, either.
Zach: Perfect timing.
Ryan: You taking a trip?
Zach: No, moving out. To give Kendall some time to figure out what she needs. Excuse me.
Ryan: I should go.
Kendall: Please stay.
Colby: Don't open the door. You'll make it worse.
Pete: My mom's in there.
Colby: Are you sure?
Pete: She's baby-sitting Kathy.
Colby: Oh, God. Yes, there's a fire at 564 White Oaks Drive. Pete!
Krystal: He's dead, isn't he? I killed him. Oh, my God. What have I done? What did I do?
David: No, no. No, unfortunately, he's just out cold. It would take more than a pitcher to crack a skull this thick. All right, so tell me what happened.
Krystal: Don't -- don't you want to take him to the hospital?
David: No, no, he's fine. I'm more concerned about you.
Krystal: He just -- he barged in here, ranting and raving, and he told me to pack my bags. That he was going to save me before it was too late.
David: So super idiot came here to rescue you? Well, I see that turned out well for him.
Krystal: Well now, he was -- he was out of his mind. He was screaming and yelling and he was -- he was dragging me to the door. And I just -- I grabbed the first thing, and I just -- I whacked him.
David: All right, so what brought on this sudden display of heroism?
Krystal: Tad found out that we're trying to get custody of Little A, and he thinks that you brainwashed me to do it. Then he started going on and on about Dixie, like he was possessed.
David: Oh, right. By the asinine idea that the Martins are God's gift to us all.
Krystal: Oh, God. Would you -- can't we do something, wake him up?
David: Well, now, there's one method I can try, but it gets a little messy.
Krystal: Well, do it.
David: All right. You watching? Here it goes.
[Tad gasps after David throws cold water on his face]
David: There you have it. Another miracle cure by the world-renowned Dr. Hayward.
J.R.: Hey. I think I left my cell phone here. Did you happen to see it anywhere? You ok? You look a little pale.
Amanda: No, I'm fine.
J.R.: Did you get something to eat? Maybe you need to take a nap.
Amanda: You're sweet, but I feel good.
J.R.: Ok. Good enough for the deposition later? Because I can't wait to see Hayward's face when you tell the lawyers he paid you to push me off the wagon. That maniac thinks he's going to take my kid from me? We're going to crush him. We're going to crush him, thanks to you.
Amanda: Whoa. That was really weird. I got dizzy there for a second.
J.R.: Amanda? Amanda.
Aidan: I want to protect you.
Annie: Why? Do you love me?
Annie: Aidan, when I -- when I got here, I felt so alone. I thought that the entire world had forgotten about me, but you didn't. I mean, you never turned your back on me, and I -- I feel like I can get better here. I do, I feel safe here. And -- I'm not afraid of these doctors and I'm not afraid of this place, and I'm not afraid to tell you that I love you. I love you, Aidan, I do. Do you think I'm being crazy?
Aidan: Of course not. I mean, just the fact that you asked me shows how sane you are. Now, I wasn't completely honest with you before. I'm falling in love with you.
Kendall: Well, my husband left me. It was bound to happen, right? I mean, Zach and I can't exactly keep going on this way?
Ryan: Is it Reese? Are they --
Kendall: Are they having an affair? No, no. Before Reese, before the tornados hit, Zach and I -- we just lost each other. It was like we were going on the same road, and then it just split off into two different directions, and we just couldn't find a way to find ourselves again.
Ryan: So, his solution is just to take off?
Kendall: I know it's hard for you to understand. But him leaving, it was the right thing to do. If -- if he had stayed, it -- it would have only made things worse.
Ryan: Ok. Well, you two -- you found your way back before, so...
Kendall: No, no. That was different, Ryan. I'm different.
Ryan: Yeah. I mean, part of you is different, Kendall. But a big part of you is still the same.
Kendall: Do you see that? Do you see what I'm saying? You know me so well. It's crazy. It's like, you know, you know the old, and the new, what's changed, what hasn't. I need that. I need someone who -- who can see the whole picture and appreciate it for what it is and understand that I am capable of forgiving and moving forward. But not -- but not by just erasing the past and forgetting that it ever happened.
Ryan: Is that what Zach wants you to do?
Kendall: That's what he knows. I mean, when something goes wrong, you decimate the past. You just, you start from scratch. You blow it all up. But I -- I can't do that. I don't want to. Every single thing that's happened to me, good or bad, it's made me who I am today. It will be a part of me forever.
Ryan: Marriage is very, very complicated.
Kendall: Yeah. Yeah, it is. A lot of people do it. Why? I mean, it's just dumb. You know? To think that they can actually defy the odds. Look at -- look at all the train wrecks here in pine valley. At least we were smart enough to not have gone through with it.
Ryan: Hmm. But we're still friends. Thank God. I'm very grateful for that.
Kendall: Yeah. Well, Zach isn't -- part of the reason we're having so many problems is because of you.
Ryan: Because of me? Can you explain that, please?
Kendall: Ryan. We were in love, once. And we're still a huge part of each other's lives.
Ryan: Well, of course we are. I mean, among other things, we share a son together.
Kendall: Yeah. Ok, well, you share a daughter with Annie. And how close are you?
Ryan: So, so I am the reason that Zach left? Because of how you feel about me? Are you saying that you still love me?
Pete: Mom? Mom! Mom, where are you?
Taylor: Hey, are you ok?
Colby: The house is on fire!
Taylor: Ok, is anyone inside?
Colby: My friend Pete went in to find his mom, and there's a little girl, Kathy, Tad's daughter. I called 911 but --
Taylor: Good, good. When the firemen come, you tell them how many people were inside the house, ok? But do not come in.
Taylor: Ok? Come on, Brot. Brot. Sergeant Monroe, let's move.
Colby: I think Petey went through the living room!
Kathy: Help me!
Taylor: Ok, that's the little girl. I'll go upstairs and grab her.
Brot: All right. Be careful. Pete? Can you hear me?
David: I should have you arrested for breaking and entering -- and assault.
Tad: What did you do to Krystal?
David: Everything you couldn't. And even more. Now stay the hell away from my wife.
Tad: She'd never help you steal J.R.'s son. Not the woman I know.
David: Yeah, well, obviously, you didn't know her real well, now, did you? Wasn't that the problem?
Tad: So how'd you do it, Dave, huh? Feed her more drugs? Or did you start making idle threats?
David: When are you going to get it through that feeble brain of yours and accept reality? Krystal is here in this marriage, in this house, in this custody suit because she wants to be. You neglected her, Tad. You failed her in every single way, and you lost her -- to me, just like Dixie.
Tad: Don't you mention Dixie. You don't even say her name. It's not about her. It's about an innocent child.
David: No, no, you're right, a child whose father let him pound Scotch like it was apple juice.
Tad: Oh, come on. Little A is fine.
David: Thanks to Krystal.
Tad: It was an accident. J.R. made a mistake. Big deal.
David: Oh, right. Another mistake. Yeah, right. Just like when he allowed my grandson to almost drown a few years ago. Well, there aren't going to be anymore mistakes when Krystal and I are raising him, Tad.
Tad: What is it? Has he got you under some kind of gag order? Is that it? How can you possibly go --
David: Leave her alone.
Tad: J.R. is dealing with the same grief you are. Haven't you got any compassion? You're going to help him steal his son? What do you think Babe would say if she could see you right now?
David: Get the hell out, or you're going to be down on the ground and you're not going to get up.
David: Gentlemen. Come in, please. Honey, the lawyers are here to take your deposition.
Tad: Don't do this. Come with me.
David: You know something, Tad? It was a pleasure, as always, but Krystal is busy right now. She has to talk about how J.R. let his son get loaded. So come on.
Tad: So this is it -- the day you sell out Babe's son.
J.R.: She's in pain, if you haven't noticed.
Frankie: You need to wait outside.
J.R.: I'm the father. I'm not going anywhere.
Amanda: J.R., please.
J.R.: I'll be right out there.
Frankie: The ultrasound shows everything's fine.
Amanda: Because there's nothing wrong with me.
Frankie: Then why are you here?
Amanda: I was trapped -- I didn't know what to do. If I pretended to be sick, then I'd be ok. The lawyers wouldn't make me talk.
Frankie: Hey, slow down. Just start from the beginning.
Amanda: David's got me right where he wants me. My life is ruined.
Barry: So you entered the Chandler parlor and found J.R.'s son. What happened next?
Tad's voice: What do you think Babe would say if she could see you now?
Barry: Mrs. Hayward?
Krystal: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, what was the question?
Barry: Tell us what you witnessed in the Chandler parlor.
Krystal: I just, um -- I just need a minute.
David: Of course, darling. Would you like some water?
David: All right, ok.
David: Here. Look, I know this isn't easy, but you're doing the right thing. And I believe J.R. will thank you in the long run. So just relax, tell the truth, and know how much I love you.
[Krystal clears throat]
Krystal: I, um -- I walked into the parlor and I saw Little A alone on the floor. And he was -- he was holding his belly like -- like it really hurt. And he pointed over to the table. That's when I saw the empty glass.
Kendall: Of course, I love you. I always will. But I'm not in love with you.
Ryan: Well, ok. Just for a second there I wasn't so sure what was happening.
Kendall: I do -- I do remember what it was like, though. I remember how it felt when we were together. I'll never forget it. And sometimes I'll watch you with spike, our beautiful little boy.
Kendall: And wonder if maybe we could've made each other happy.
Ryan: And then you remember all the times you wanted to kill me.
Kendall: Yeah, that's true, there's that. But really, I -- I think about, you know, would things have been different if we made other choices? I mean, everybody does that, right?
Ryan: Yeah, I guess. I guess, but, you know, we can't go back and change it.
Kendall: Yeah, I know, and that just sucks. Because if we'd stay together, then none of this would've happened, and you wouldn't have been in this whole mess with Annie, and greenlee would still be here.
Ryan: And there'd be no you and Zach. Kendall, are you still in love with him?
Kendall: Yes. Yes, of course I am. I love him more than I have ever loved anybody. But that's not the problem, Ryan. It's something else.
Ryan: It's Reese?
Kendall: No, no, it's not. I told you that.
Ryan: Are you sure, because there's obviously something between Reese and Zach. And I'm not saying this to be cruel.
Kendall: Then why are you saying it?
Ryan: Because I don't want to see you get blindsided again.
Kendall: By what?
Ryan: By his lies.
Kendall: Ryan, stop it. Stop.
Ryan: Ok, sorry. I'm sorry. I'm -- but maybe that's where he went. I'm just saying, I wouldn't put it past Zach to go running off to Reese.
J.R.: I want to see Amanda.
Frankie: She needs to rest.
J.R.: Is the baby ok?
Angie: What are you yelling about?
J.R.: He won't let me see the mother of my child.
Angie: Amanda was admitted?
J.R.: She started having cramps, bad ones. She's scared. I don't want her to be alone.
Angie: Well, I -- I can't see any reason J.R. has to stay out.
Frankie: She's my patient, and I said no visitors.
J.R.: Whoa, whoa, whoa -- what are they doing here?
David: You're all excited for the lawyers to take Amanda's deposition. I heard she was here.
J.R.: You heard. From whom?
David: How is she?
J.R.: That's none of your damn business.
David: Oh, wrong, Junior. Everything that happens in this hospital is my business. So let's hear it. What's the big emergency?
Brot: Get outside now!
Pete: My mom's in there. She's not moving.
Brot: I said go!
Colby: Oh, thank God, Pete. Oh! Oh!
Taylor: Are you hurt? Are you hurt anywhere? Did you get hurt when you hit your head?
Colby: Is Kathy ok?
Taylor: I think she's ok. She looks good. Where's Brot?
Aidan: What's so funny?
Annie: I was just thinking about what would happen if my doctor walked in right now.
Aidan: Well, hopefully that won't happen.
Annie: Well, I really wouldn't care.
Aidan: An exhibitionist.
Annie: Well, when I'm as happy as I am right now, yeah. I want everybody to see me like this. Well, not like this. You know what I mean. It's --
Annie: It's strange. I mean, we've never been this close before, but I feel like we have.
Aidan: We have. Remember?
Annie: Yeah. But now it's real.
Aidan: It's always been real. Remember what I told you? You're going to live a long, happy life. And when you're released, I'm going to make sure nothing bad ever happens to you again.
Annie: Yeah, but -- Aidan, if they do let me out of here, I have to go to trial. How are you going to stop that? I mean, I could -- I could go to jail. I could never see my daughter again.
Aidan: You don't have to worry about that, Annie. You just concentrate on getting better, all right? I'm going to take care of the rest.
Francesca: I'm sorry -- about the size of your room. All the suites were booked.
Zach: Well, that means the high rollers are here. It's good news.
Francesca: Any idea how long you'll be staying?
Zach: No. Did Aidan Devane come by to see you? A good-looking guy?
Francesca: Yes, he said you hired him for personal security. I wanted to verify who he was before I spoke with him. I called you, but --
Zach: Anything he wants. Full access, no questions asked.
Francesca: Mr. Slater, is there anything I should know?
Zach: Just keep the high rollers happy.
Francesca: What about you? You need anything?
Zach: No, I'm good. Forget I'm here.
Kendall: I can picture Zach and me. Ok? I could see it so clearly. It just hurts. It just hurts because it was so amazing. And I just want it back. I just want to have back what we had. But I don't know how. We're stuck. Please tell me that Zach knows I still love him. He's got to know, right? I mean, he's got to know that I still love him and that I can't live without him. He has to know that. Please, please, just tell me that he's coming back. And please tell me that there's hope, please.
Ryan: Where did your truck go? Oh, no -- what -- oh!
Kendall: Daddy getting you riled up? Is he?
Ryan: No, never.
Ryan: I missed you so much, yes, I did. Oh, you want to put it back on my head, now, don't you?
Kendall: Sweet boy -- I have this for you. Would you like some? Yes? Yeah, I thought so.
Ryan: Good -- that way I can take the truck off my head.
Ryan: Is that good? Could I have some? Are you going to share?
[Ryan chuckles in background]
Aidan: Is Zach here?
Kendall: Zach doesn't live here anymore.
[Kendall slams the door in Aidan's face]
Tad: Thank God. Oh, wow. Whew. What happened?
Colby: I drove Pete home from the movies, and the house was on fire. It was horrible.
Tad: You're ok?
Tad: And what about you, Sunshine. You all right?
Colby: She got scared, but Angie checked her out. She's fine.
Tad: I can't thank you enough. If you and Pete hadn't been there, I don't know --
Colby: It wasn't us. Taylor and Brot got them out. They heard me screaming for help, ran inside, and saved everyone. They both were amazing.
Tad: Angie? How's Mom?
Angie: Opal's still unconscious. She inhaled a lot of smoke. We're doing everything we can.
Tad: Ok -- now, listen. I tell you what. Your grandma is going to be just fine, because Angie is going to take excellent care of her. In the meantime, what would you say to a cup of hot cocoa? You want some hot chocolate? What about you two? Let's go, come on.
Angie: Is it true? Are you helping David get custody of J.R.'s son?
Krystal: David and I filed the papers together.
Angie: Look what he's done to you.
Krystal: He took care of me, Angie, which is exactly what he wants to do for Little A, what we both want to do.
Angie: Well, how many times do I have to keep telling you this -- he's using you.
Krystal: He is my husband. Ok, he doesn't control me. He loves me. I can think for myself and I can make my own decisions. I found my grandson with a belly full of booze, so what should I do, huh? Just -- just leave him there? Say to hell with it? Leave him there to fend for himself? His mother is gone, his father is drinking, and I don't have to tell you about Adam. How do you think he'll turn out?
Angie: You know what I think? He'd fare off being raised by wolves than David Hayward. That's what I think.
Krystal: What about me? So you're saying, now that I'm with David I am no longer fit to raise a child?
Angie: I didn't say that. But a judge did when he gave Tad full custody of jenny.
Jesse: What was that about?
Angie: What do you think?
David: Why don't you quit breathing down my neck, Junior? Go have a beer. I'll call you when I'm done.
J.R.: Don't worry, I'm not going to leave you alone for a second with him.
David: Well, I think Amanda and I have had plenty of time alone.
J.R.: You shut up. Just tell us about the baby.
David: Well, it appears Amanda's condition has improved dramatically. But given your previous scare, I would say that you should limit your physical activity and make sure you get plenty of rest. Wouldn't want anything to happen to that bundle of joy.
J.R.: No, we wouldn't. Now you can leave.
David: Well, not before I commend Dr. Hubbard. It was his take-charge attitude and swift diagnosis that made all the difference in the world.
J.R.: I owe you one.
David: Amanda certainly does.
J.R.: So, when can we get out of here, Doc?
David: I'd like to keep her here overnight, just to be sure.
J.R.: Well, that's fine. I'll stay with you.
David: You're awfully quiet. How are you feeling?
Amanda: Much better.
David: Good. I'll get the lawyers.
J.R.: What? Are you nuts? She can't do a deposition right now.
David: Why, what's the matter, Junior? Two doctors and the patient herself say she's fine. Besides, it won't take long. I'm sure Amanda knows exactly what to say.
Tad: I just want to say thank you.
Taylor: Tad, I -- really, I did what anybody would've done.
Tad: Look, I realize you're not big on compliments, but it would mean a lot if you would give me one second to voice my appreciation.
Taylor: You have one second.
Tad: Ok. Kathy and I were separated for a long time. It was very hard on me, and I guess that's why I am so overly protective of her, because the idea of losing her again is -- I am so incredibly grateful to you, so grateful. I guess I went over my second.
Taylor: I am glad I could help. And I didn't know that about your daughter. Where is she anyway?
Tad: Right now, she's downstairs in the cafeteria with Colby, eating French fries like there's no tomorrow.
Tad: And I would very, very much like it if I could give you a hug. That is if I'm not breaking some kind of military protocol.
Taylor: Well, I'm not in my uniform.
Tad: So --
[Tad hugs Taylor]
Frankie: Except for the minor smoke inhalation, you're fine, good to go.
Brot: No, I'm not, man. I saw the smoke, and I froze. It took me right back to Iraq, the explosion, everything burning. I hesitated, and you know I've never done that before. Just proves that I'm different.
Frankie: No, it proves you're human. I mean, who wouldn't think twice about running into a house on fire? What matters is that you didn't let it stop you. You saved lives. You've got to be proud of that. I am. My buddy did a great thing, and you came out safe.
Jesse: Look -- baby, I know Hayward is a lot of trouble. You know that, too, but come on. You got to back off. Krystal doesn't want to be helped.
Angie: Well, I'm not just talking about Krystal. Our son's entire future is on the line. Frankie's been falsifying medical reports. Medical records.
Angie: Amanda is pregnant with David's child, and she was so distraught that Frankie went into her chart and changed the conception date, so now, it looks like J.R. is the father.
Jesse: Un -- if Hayward finds out --
Angie: Frankie will never practice medicine again.
Barry: So J.R. had started drinking again?
Barry: At any time, did you manipulate J.R. into consuming alcohol?
J.R.: It's ok. Just tell the truth.
Barry: Ms. Dillon? Did you push J.R. to drink?
Amanda: No. The answer's no.
Jesse: Messing with medical records? What? What are you -- you high? You smoking dope or something?
Frankie: Sometimes you have to keep a secret to protect the people you care about. Who taught me that?
Jesse: Your mother's freaking out. She thinks your career is over, Frankie.
Frankie: Yeah, well, it might not matter. My redeployment papers just came today. I leave for Iraq in a month.
Pete: Ah, hey.
Colby: Oh, are you ok?
Pete: I survived a lightning bolt. This was nothing. Mmm. Wow. Maybe this is the look I should keep. Charcoal chic.
Colby: You need a shower. Hey, Tad. How is she?
Tad: Safe and sound, thank God. I'm glad you are, too.
Nurse: Dr. Hubbard, it's cubicle 5.
Tad: Wait a minute. Isn't that -- isn't that Mama's room?
Angie: Yes, but I can't talk right now. No, stay here.
Pete: What's going on? Is my mom ok?
J.R.: Why did you lie? David paid you to make me drink.
Amanda: I'm sorry.
J.R.: No, I don't understand.
David: Let me clear it up for you, Junior. I told Amanda that if she told the lawyers the truth, I would tell you the truth. That this baby she's carrying is mine.
Amanda: No! No, J.R. --
J.R.: I don't believe you.
David: Oh, really? Well, ask Krystal. She knows. So does Frankie. Your Uncle Jake. They all watched Amanda wrap you around her greedy little finger, and they didn't say a word. So how does it feel, Junior, knowing both your kids belong to me?
Amanda: You bastard! I hate you!
Amanda: I hate you, David! Go to hell!
Krystal: What -- what are you all doing here?
Colby: There was a fire at Opal's.
Krystal: Oh, my God. Sweetie, are you ok?
Tad: She's ok, she's ok. She's terrific.
Colby: Kathy's fine, but Opal, we still don't know.
Krystal: Tad. I am so sorry, but Opal is as strong as they come, and I know that she's going to pull through this.
Tad: You did this.
David: Oh, great. Here we go again. Do you Martins take responsibility for anything?
Krystal: David, stop.
David: If Opal had a voodoo ceremony and cremated herself, don't put it on me.
Krystal: Hey, hey!
David: Get your hands off me. Go ahead, lash at me again. All right, Tad? Next I'll be going to the judge asking for Jenny.
Brot: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Tad: Come on, come on.
Zach: Hey. You want a drink or something?
Aidan: No, no, no, I'm fine. Went over to your place. Kendall says you're not living there anymore.
Zach: That's right.
Aidan: Well, just to let you know, Ryan was there, and those two looked pretty cozy. Don't get me wrong, but it looked like Ryan was making a play for your wife.
Zach: That's right. He is.
Kendall: I'm glad you got to spend some time with Spike. You should do it more often.
Ryan: Sounds good to me.
Kendall: I mean, you don't have to call or anything in advance. You can just come over. I don't care if it's day or night.
Ryan: I should probably get going. Good night.
Kendall: Good night.
Singer: If I'm winning or losing because you give me severe confusion of the heart I want to take it right back to the part we made sense you are my confusion you are my confusion
