Officer: How did you first learn that Sergeant Monroe was still alive?
Taylor: It was Captain Frank Hubbard, sir. He told me.
Officer: Did Sergeant Monroe ever explain to you how and why he did what he did?
Taylor: No, sir. Sergeant Monroe, he was not very open with me about very much.
Officer: And the last time you saw him?
Taylor: What's going on?
Jake: The military knows that he's alive. They know that you took Mike Sweeney's identity. There's an officer down at the hospital asking all kinds of questions.
Taylor: In the hospital the last day he was released.
Officer: Thank you, Lieutenant. Contact your C.O. if you ever see Sergeant Monroe again. Understood?
Taylor: Yes, sir. Sir? What'll happen to him now -- Brot Monroe?
Officer: Well, that's for C.I.D. to decide. We're just doing preliminaries. Lieutenant.
Jake: Wow, with everything he's been through, now he's a wanted man, too.
Taylor: How much more is he supposed to take?
Randi: Last night was amazing. And this morning -- I wish we could stay in bed forever.
Frankie: Well, let's pretend we can.
Zach: Myrtle? Zach. I haven't heard from you in a couple days, and I want to make sure we're still up for Christmas. Just wouldn't be the same without you. All right, I love you. Call me soon. Bye.
Man: Mr. Slater? You wanted to see me.
Zach: Yeah, I wanted to see you. What I didn't want to see was this. There was no wall there yesterday. Now we have a wall. This was supposed to be open. So what happened? Huh? Why doesn't anybody listen to what I say? Why is that? Here, let me see that. Why can't you go by the plans that I approved right here?
Reese: Zach, this is one of the things that I wanted to talk to you about this morning. The contractors and the engineers, they were all caught by surprise as well, and we tried to find a way to work around it, but it would've taken extra weeks and weeks of work. We would've had to tear everything down to the foundation.
Zach: One time, just one time I would like for things to go the way I want them to go.
Reese: It's not you. Please, please continue working.
Man: Anything you say, Ms. Williams.
Reese: Zach --
Reese: I understand.
Zach: You understand? What do you understand? You have a wife that's dying, too?
Erica: No, I think a French-themed wedding would be very apropos, don't you? I really think we could do a whole Monet color scheme, you know? Lots of blues and greens and Mediterranean terracotta as an accent.
Bianca: Huh? Oh, I'm sorry. Mom, you do know that we haven't even set a date yet for the wedding.
Erica: Oh, come on. Let me have my fun, ok? I mean, how often do I get to plan a wedding?
Erica: Oh, that.
Erica: I mean other than my own.
Erica: Well, I am so glad to see Reese and Zach getting along so well. I mean, especially since he is Gabrielle's biological father. Bianca?
Erica: You ok?
Bianca: Uh, yeah. I'm -- I just found out something that kind of blew me away. Reese has been engaged before -- to a man.
Adam: I cannot believe I allowed them to turn my house into estrogen central.
J.R.: All right, buddy. I'll be right there, ok?
Adam: Did -- did you by any chance order him one of those, um, top of the line step-in, stand-in electric cars with the name painted on the side? Did you?
J.R.: Why? Are you getting him one?
Adam: I was. But when I got to the store, they already had one with his name painted on the side. They wouldn't tell me who ordered it.
J.R.: Well, if it wasn't you or me, it -- Hayward.
David: You had him. You had J.R. right where we wanted him. Why did you stop him from having a drink?
Amanda: It wasn't the right time. He would've seen through what I was doing.
David: No, no, no, no. That doesn't make any sense. Maybe you're starting to have feelings for him. If you're not interested in this job anymore, let me know, all right?
Amanda: I didn't say that, ok?
David: Good. Then get to work. You should have J.R. crawling on his hands and knees by Christmas.
Frankie: Mm. I could see myself being like this with you forever, but I'm getting ahead of myself, aren't I? Why don't we just concentrate on here and now?
Randi: Mm, where's the remote?
Frankie: The what?
Randi: The remote. Oh, here it is.
Randi: Sorry. Erica taped an interview yesterday, and she's going to announce me as the new face of Fusion.
Frankie: Well that's worthy for a five-minute break for fun.
[Randi turns on the TV]
Woman: Ms. Kane, I understand you have some news for us since you took the reigns at Fusion.
Erica: Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. We are so excited about the new direction that the company is taking. In fact, it is truly a new beginning. To kick everything off, I am announcing a nationwide search for the new face of Fusion. We are not only looking for a beautiful face. We are also looking for someone who embodies the strength and intelligence and confidence of the modern 21st-century woman.
Woman: Well, that sounds like a fantastic new beginning for this next phase of Fusion. Thank you so much for joining us, ms. Kane, and good luck with the venture.
Randi: Ugh. I don't understand. I'm supposed to be the new face of Fusion.
Frankie: Well, maybe it was just an old interview or something.
Randi: No, no. Something definitely went down. Something happened, and I need to get over there and see what's going on.
Erica: Honey, when two people are in love, I mean, everything has to be out in the open, and as soon as possible. I mean, look at all the honesty issues that Jack and I had over the years and all the problems that that caused. I mean, I don't want you to have to go through the same thing.
Bianca: No, I know. Don't -- don't worry about it. It -- it's not the same thing. Reese has explained everything. She's told me her feelings and what happened. I just -- she says that I'm the first person that she has ever really loved.
Erica: Are you satisfied with that?
Bianca: Yeah. I -- I am. I'm just -- just taking me a while to process it.
Erica: All right then. Just don't ever think that you can't be open with your feelings with me.
Bianca: Oh -- thanks, Mom. Uh, Victoria, I meant to ...
Zach: I'm sorry.
Reese: Understood and accepted.
Zach: Well, I shouldn't take it out on you. It has nothing to do with you.
Reese: I just want to do a good job for you.
Zach: You do. You've done a great job. I look around this place, and I wonder why we're doing it at all, because it's -- it's half Kendall's, and she's not going to be here to celebrate it. So why even bother, you know?
Reese: Come on. I doubt she would want you to give up your dreams.
Zach: I'd give up all my dreams just to have my wife back.
Jake: So what do you think Brot's going to do now?
Taylor: What he's been doing. He'll run, only he's not just running from me now. He's running from the U.S. Army.
Jake: Where would -- where would a person go?
Taylor: I don't know, but it can't be easy for him. It's not like he can blend in with the masses anymore. He's got to be scared to death.
Jake: Well, of course, he's scared with everything he's been through. It's been a real tough road he's been running.
Taylor: Tough for a lot of us, you know? Going back to the civilian world, even if you haven't been through the hell he's been through. I don't have to tell you. You know what war is like.
Jake: Yes, I do.
Taylor: The military is so black and white. Unfortunately, the real world's not quite that cut and dried.
Jake: Well, you did it. You fought your way back. He can do it. Given time, you know? Deal with the charges, maybe get off without doing jail time, and then you can help him if that's what you want to do.
Taylor: Thank you, Jake. I don't know why you do it, but you are such a good --
Jake: I do it because you're worth it. I should get back to work.
Taylor: Hey, Jake? I think he might be gone for good this time. He's running as far away as he can.
Jake: Well, it's a big, scary world out there.
Taylor: Oh, he's scared all right, but I think he's relieved, too. You know, the Army, he can deal with that. He's used to that. Either the MPs catch up with him or they don't, but his feelings for me, my feelings for him, my feelings -- that whole thing is just way more complicated.
J.R.: Now we just need to get some arms. We've got to work on making a smiley face. Huh?
Amanda: Well, it looks like I just came right in time. Hey, buddy. Did you build that? I am very impressed. [Chuckling] Hi.
J.R.: Hey, what's up?
Amanda: Work. Well, I'm sure oodles of fun await me inside.
J.R.: Yeah. Why do you think I'm still out here? Hey, you know what? I think I saw some sticks over there for arms.
Little Adam: Ok.
J.R.: Want to go get them?
Little Adam: Yeah.
Amanda: Oh, wait, wait, wait. Look what I have. How about two for his eyes and one for your sweet tooth, if your dad says it's ok.
J.R.: Sure, but you've got to get those sticks first.
Little Adam: Thank you.
Amanda: How's he doing lately?
J.R.: He misses his mom. I try to keep his mind off it, but it's just not easy these days. We built a snowman with Babe last year just like this one. It's all he keeps talking about.
Amanda: That's sweet. I mean, you should make it a tradition. With his house being invaded like this, it has to help.
J.R.: Yeah. You know, actually I think we're going to go up to our lodge up in the mountains and get away from this and spend some quality time bonding with each other. A little father-son thing.
Amanda: That's good. You both deserve some quiet time. Get away from the madness.
David: It all looks good, Joe. I can't tell you how honored I am. No, no, no. Now wait a minute. This was not blackmail. I gave you a choice. Now your son gets to keep his medical license instead of getting in trouble with the law for lying about a patient. You proved yourself to be an admirable and giving father, Joe. You should be proud. [Chuckles]
David: Back at you, Joe.
Angie: Was that Joe Martin? How's his daughter's surgery going?
David: I completely forgot to ask.
Angie: What did I expect?
David: You know, you might want to be more civil to your new boss.
Angie: Who? You? I don't work in Cardiology.
David: Well, then let me be the first one to share the great news. I'm the new chief of staff.
Angie: That's not possible.
David: Yes, it is, and my first order of business, I want you to find someone to clear out Joe's office by the end of the day. Thank you, Doctor.
Erica: Randi, where have you been? I've been trying to call you.
Randi: My phone was off. Why am I being replaced?
Erica: Randi, uh, I am so sorry, but some pictures of you, videos, have surfaced. They were brought to Greenlee's attention, then she showed me on the Internet -- some pornographic videos.
Randi: I --
Erica: For everyone's sake, I mean yours as well as Fusion's, I -- I had no choice but to pull this campaign. I mean, we cannot take another PR disaster.
Randi: I swear to you. I've never done porn in my life.
Erica: Well, these look like they were shot with hidden cameras. Look, I -- I feel very bad for you, I really do, and I certainly do not want you to leave your job here. You just can't be the face of Fusion, that's all. I mean, surely you must understand.
Krystal: Randi? Hi. I came by to see Little A.
Adam: As far as I know, he's out on the terrace with J.R. How -- how are you doing?
Krystal: I've been better.
Adam: Yeah. I know it's not easy, but -- especially this time of year --
Adam: But what?
Krystal: Well, I'm sure there's a whole lot more to go along with that tender note of sympathy.
Adam: I don't understand.
Krystal: Oh, come on, Adam. Get it over with. I know J.R. told you about seeing me with David, so just out with it -- huh? Tell me what a horrible, horrible woman I am.
Little Adam: Dad, it's finished.
J.R.: Yeah. That looks great, pal.
Krystal: Come on, Adam. I know you far too well, so let her rip.
Adam: Why would I come down hard on you like that? It's perfectly understandable that you gravitated toward Hayward.
Krystal: Perfectly understandable?
Adam: Yes. You both lost a child.
Krystal: Look, I'm sorry if I'm just a little bit skeptical of your forgiving attitude.
Adam: Well, 'tis the season, right? And if Hayward would try to pull something fast, and something like using you to get to our grandson, I'd smell it. After all, it takes a schemer to know one, doesn't it?
Krystal: Mm-hmm, and you certainly are one of the best.
Adam: Oh, yes. Of course, I am. You know what I would do. I would find a really snazzy Christmas present for the boy, and then let you deliver it as if it came from you. That way he would score points with you and the boy. Yeah, just simple things like that. Yeah, but he hasn't tried a one of them, so I think Little Adam would love to see you now.
David: And where do you think you're going, Dr. Martin?
Jake: I have an appendectomy.
David: No, you don't. Your surgical privileges have been suspended.
Jake: What are you talking about?
David: I'm sorry. I made the decision in the best interest of this hospital.
Jake: Really? Well, it's not up to you, is it? It's up to the chief of staff.
David: Exactly, and you're talking to him.
Jake: My father is the chief of staff.
David: Mm, not as of 15 minutes ago. Your father stepped down, Jake. He appointed me in his place. In other words, you work for me now, Martin, and I'm not letting you anywhere near an operating room.
Brot: Mind if I come in? MPs are looking for me, something about stealing a man's identity isn't sitting too well with them.
Frankie: Maybe they just want to clear things up, find out what really went down.
Brot: You haven't grown stupid, Hub. You know better than that. This was inevitable, and now there's really no way around this.
Frankie: So what? You're just going to run after coming back into our lives? After starting to get back what you had with Taylor?
Brot: I haven't gotten anything back with Taylor. There's still a wall a mile thick between us, and there's no way of knocking that down.
Frankie: Only because you don't want to knock it down.
Brot: You're right. I don't.
Zach: Hey, thanks.
Reese: Hey. Zach, why don't you go to the hospital? Go spend some time with Kendall.
Zach: It doesn't help. She can't see me. I can't see her eyes. She can't hear me, and there are so many things I want to say, and I should've said it before it all happened, but I didn't, so --
Reese: So tell me.
Zach: Tell you what?
Reese: Tell me all the things that you would want to say to Kendall but you can't. Just get it out.
Zach: Oh, do you want me to pretend that you're Kendall?
[Talking over one another]
Zach: Ok, let's do that. Kendall, hi. I wish we hadn't fought so much. I wish we had a life together. I wish we could grow old together. I wish we could have more children together, and I wish I could hold you just one more time, and I wish I didn't feel so -- so lost right now, and --
Reese: Come here. Come here. It's ok. It's ok.
[Erica sees Reese hugging Zach]
Zach: Ok. I'm going to go see my kids, all right? All right.
Reese: Erica, how long have you been here?
Erica: Long enough. Well, I've been here long enough to see what a spectacular job you've done with this place. Listen, what would you say to designing my new penthouse? I have my eye on several properties, but every one of them would need a major redesign.
Reese: Wow, that, um -- that sounds like the challenge I would jump at.
Erica: Great. Although I wouldn't want to see you be distracted the way Bianca is. I mean, I can hardly get her to even talk about the wedding. It's as if she doesn't want to deal with it, which is not like her.
Reese: I, uh... I get the feeling that there's something on your mind that you might like to say to me? Am I wrong?
Erica: Well, now that you mention it, Bianca told me that she just recently discovered that you had been engaged once before -- to a man. Finding out something like that this far into a relationship has Bianca a bit troubled, and to be honest, I'm troubled, too.
Reese: Well, as long as we are being honest, I don't think it's any of your business.
Bianca: Hey, I didn't expect to see you here.
Zach: I need a good dose of my kids. Where are they?
Bianca: Oh, um, the little ones are napping. Spike and Miranda are watching a DVD with Rachael.
Zach: Everything ok?
Zach: All right.
Bianca: Wait, um, no, I'm -- I have this feeling that you and Reese are keeping something from me.
Zach: Why would you think that?
Bianca: It's a gut feeling. And there's something about the way you two look at each other, and -- and this. I mean, just look at the way she's looking at you in that picture. And now I know that she's capable of keeping secrets from me. Just tell me I'm wrong. Tell me that you and Reese aren't hiding anything from me.
Brot: I gave Taylor her freedom when I faked my death. It's time for me to do it again, man.
Frankie: It's too late. She can't do that now, not knowing you're out there somewhere.
Brot: She'll get over it. The problem is, however, that these run a lot deeper than I initially thought. Too deep, I think, because when I'm looking at Taylor's eyes, all I see is fear, pain, and pity.
Frankie: Well --
Brot: I just can't deal with that, Hub.
Frankie: Why don't you quit about it and get the hell out of here? Because you make things worse by dragging it out like this.
Brot: I'm glad I stopped by for a fond farewell.
Frankie: You know what? I wish you hadn't. I really do, because it's one thing to think that the man that I knew and I called friend is out there lost, truly lost. But I look in your eyes, and I see you still in there. And it just pisses me off, because you refuse to see it. Are you going to be a coward again, or are you going to have the guts to at least say good-bye to her this time?
Adam: Krystal is very vulnerable now, and Hayward's taking advantage of it. But I have Krystal perfectly primed to obliterate his next move.
Jake: What does that mean, da --
Angie: You heard?
Jake: Yeah, I was just trying to get some answers out of my father. David Hayward is the chief of staff?
Angie: What did your father say?
Jake: He just told me not to worry about it, but how am I not going to worry about something that is this insane? Wait a second, he -- he's upset about Tara's surgery, but you don't think he's making harsh decisions and rash choices because of his emotional well-being, do you?
Angie: Then there's only one possibility. The new chief "pain in the ass" did something shady.
Jake: Yeah, well, he's not going to get away with this.
Erica: I care about my children. I'm not happy with anyone who upsets them.
Reese: That's fair enough. But Bianca and I are both adults, and we are very much in love. Any problems between us will be handled between us without any interference from anyone. And as far as what is upsetting her now, I have made some mistakes in my life, but I am willing to admit to them.
Erica: Well, that's always a good start.
Reese: So we have an understanding, then?
Erica: If by that you mean, will I ever stop caring about my daughter's happiness, then no. What you need to understand is that you intend to marry a Kane woman. And that comes with certain preconditions.
Reese: Meaning what?
Erica: I can be your best friend. However, I will always respect my daughter's wishes. Well, you have a daughter now yourself. Someday you'll understand.
Taylor: What are you doing here? Did anybody see you?
Brot: I checked out the whole area. There's no MPs around. Listen. I came to say good-bye.
Taylor: Oh, Brot, don't do this.
Brot: Let me finish.
Brot: Taylor. I've been practicing my speech all night, and I'm not going to let you screw this up. Now, come here, sit down. I tried, Taylor. I swear I did, to make this work between us. And at first it started out ok. Talking on the phone worked because I felt safe. Me sitting in a motel room and you listening to my voice, remembering what I used to look like. But the minute we came together, it reached a point that I can't get past. I can't look you in the eyes, face to face, and not see what you see. That part of us, it's -- it's over.
Taylor: Are you done? I'm going to get you a lawyer. And then we're going to contact the C.O., and then we will talk again about trying to find out if we still work.
Brot: Forget the MPs. It doesn't matter whether I end up behind bars or not. I've made up my mind about us, and I have to go.
Taylor: You have made up my mind for me. And don't look away from me, because you do that when you know you're wrong. You're not running from the Army, you're running from me, and I'm not going to let you do that.
Brot: I always planned that once I knew you were ok, then I would leave.
Taylor: You are such a liar. You're not scared to look at me. You're scared to love me. You're scared to have a life, and you deserve a life. Fine, you don't want to have it with me? Fine. But if you run, what do you have then? You're a soldier. We don't run. We stand and we fight. So stand and fight. Fine, don't do it for me. But do it for you.
Frankie: Hey, how did it go with Erica?
Randi: Everything's done, Frankie. Everything's just one -- it's over with. There are pictures and there are videos, sex tapes of me all over the Internet. Fletcher must have been taping us girls when we were with our johns. With hidden cameras, I don't know, but it's everywhere, and anyone can see it. Even my kids could see it one day. It's all over with. You should just get rid of me. You should just dump me right now.
Frankie: Hey, never. Never. This doesn't change anything. I still love you.
David: Here's your refill, my lady. Glad you like it.
Krystal: Mm, love eggnog. Are you sure there's not alcohol in this?
David: Positive. Why, does it taste funny?
Krystal: No, it's -- it's delicious. It's just -- hmm. Food's good, too.
David: Great. I'm happy you could come over. I didn't want to celebrate by myself.
Krystal: What are you celebrating?
David: I became chief of staff today.
Krystal: That's -- that's great. Congratulations.
David: Thank you.
Krystal: I mean, I know you've wanted that position for a long time, but what about Joe?
David: I don't know. I guess he felt it was time to step down and wanted to hand it to someone who was most qualified.
Krystal: Wow, that's -- that is great. I'm happy for you, really.
David: Cheers. You know, there's something else. Um, something for our grandson? Here we go.
David: Look at this. I thought it would brighten up his Christmas a little. What do you think?
Krystal: It's -- it -- it's great. It's --
David: Yeah. I think he'll love it. You know, but there's a little problem. I think it might be misconstrued if it came from me, so I thought maybe you could take it to Little Adam, give it to him, and just say it was a present from you.
Reese: Hey. Ok, what's going on?
Zach: Bianca just needed to ask me something.
Bianca: But it turns out that I was wrong. I thought that you and Zach were keeping something from me.
Zach: I'll go check on Ian.
Reese: Uh-uh. No, no, no, no.
Reese: We are not doing this anymore. It's killing you, and I'm not feeling good about this.
Bianca: What is she talking about?
Zach: Kendall is, um -- has a problem with her heart. She's not going to wake up. She's dying.
Randi: I'm sorry. I guess I -- I was just really psyched at having a chance for a real career. But I guess you loving me is all that really matters.
Frankie: It'll be all right.
Randi: Make me laugh.
Randi: Help me forget.
Frankie: All right, tell you what. I'll work on my routine when I get to work, and when I get home tonight, I'll wow you. I promise.
Randi: So no staying home and just spending the night together?
Frankie: No, they -- they're breathing down my neck for missing a couple of shifts at work. I told them I'll come in for a few hours. I don't want to push it, but I'll be home tonight, ok? So don't worry.
David: How about a dance?
Singer: I'm feeling disconnected six feet from the ground when I let go stolen hours of empty time and weightlessness wreak havoc on my mind when I'm free falling
Krystal: No, no, no.
David: Krystal. What the hell is going on? Krystal! Krystal, wait a minute.
[Car wheels screeching]
David: Krystal, look out!
Jake: Nope, I'm not leaving anything out. I have not seen him for days.
Officer: Well, thing is, we've interviewed a witness who thinks they saw you with Sergeant Monroe as recently as yesterday.
Brot: I believe you're looking for me.
Bianca: Uh, how long have -- have you guys known about this?
Zach: A couple of weeks. I asked Reese not to say anything to anybody.
Bianca: Why? I mean, why wouldn't you tell me? Why would you think that I should be kept in the dark?
Reese: We didn't think you should be kept in the dark. It was just that your strength and your hope, it kept everyone going. It was so infectious. And we didn't want everyone to have to deal with what Zach has been dealing with.
Zach: I'm sorry.
Reese: [Whispering] It's ok. I'm so sorry.
[Cell phone ringing]
Zach: Myrtle. You always know just when to call.
Erica: Oh, Zach. It's Erica. Myrtle's gone. She died this morning.
[Bianca continues sobbing]
