Amanda: I've been enough of a pain for one night.
J.R.: Look, you know, drinking makes people do dumb stuff.
Amanda: Well, the apology was the only smart part, and I meant it.
J.R.: You want to come in for a while?
Krystal: Don't you tell me not to call security. You have no business being here.
David: Mm-hmm, and what are you doing here, Krystal? Moonlighting with Adam while your poor, dumb husband sits at home?
Krystal: I brought Little A over here because he couldn't sleep.
David: This is the last place Little A should be.
Krystal: Well, he and J.R. are going to be moving back in here.
David: The hell they are.
Jake: You've got this, uh, beautiful, vulnerable side to you that very few people get to see, and, luckily, I'm one of those people.
Taylor: I think I could actually fall in love with you.
Man: We have the shooter.
Doctor: There's nothing I can do for her. Let's hope her victim lives.
Greenlee: Oh, God. Oh, God.
[Greenlee dials the phone]
Greenlee: Hi, hi, I need to speak to Dr. Jake Martin. I don't care. It's an emergency.
Annie: Let's go. We have to find Emma.
Ryan: Annie, it's not like we're going to unlock the door and walk out of here, and these guys are going to wish us well.
Annie: Well, we have to find her. Give me the --
Ryan: No, Annie, no. I will go. I will find her. You stay here.
Annie: No way. You are not leaving me behind. We have to find her together.
Ryan: No, we don't, Annie. I will find Emma.
Emma: Aunt Di, where are you?
David: There is no way I'm going to let my grandson live in this house.
Krystal: Well, you don't have a choice.
David: The hell with Adam. The hell with J.R. What are you thinking agreeing to this?
Krystal: It was my idea.
Krystal: Little A wouldn't stop crying. He wanted to be in his bedroom, in his bed. He wanted to see his grandfather.
David: Well, then you should have brought him to this grandfather.
Krystal: You know, like it or not, this is the home that Little A has known for most of his life.
David: Oh, that's -- that's really comforting. A home where J.R. tormented Babe, where Adam treated her like trash from the moment she got here?
Krystal: That's the past.
David: What -- do you really want our grandson to be raised by the men who made Babe's life miserable for years?
Krystal: Look, J.R. has changed, all right?
David: Oh, come on.
Krystal: No, he's sober now, and he's strong. He's going to stand up to Adam.
David: Oh, please. He's incapable. Why do you think he ran off to San Diego?
Krystal: Uh, well, he almost ran back to San Diego to get away from you.
David: I am not the threat.
Krystal: Well, you sure do seem pretty intense.
David: You know, Krystal, I'm trying my best here. I really am, but you can brag about how big and strong and manly J.R. is -- the moment he gets into Daddy's orbit, he crumbles. And how long before Adam turns our grandson into a mini-him? Is that something you really want?
Amanda: You want me to stay? Why?
J.R.: I'm not sure. Babe, I guess, because you were close.
Amanda: You don't even like me.
J.R.: But Babe did.
Amanda: I'm not that crazy about you either, but Babe was.
J.R.: It might help to remember, to talk her. It might even help me get some sleep.
Amanda: Babe told me once when you guys couldn't sleep, you'd have crackers and milk, tell bad jokes, and laugh.
J.R.: She told you that? So you'll stay for a while?
Amanda: You going to call me pathetic?
J.R.: You going to raid the liquor cabinet?
Amanda: I'll stay for a little while.
Jake: I knew this would happen.
Taylor: What exactly did you know would happen?
Jake: I don't know if it's my rakish good looks or my medical genius or my ability to pull off white after Labor Day.
Taylor: What are you babbling about?
Jake: It's my patients -- every time. Every single one of them -- they fall in love with me. Last week, this patient -- this bird, an actual bird, came in with a broken wing. Fixed it. Now that bird follows me everywhere I go.
Taylor: So we're going to put it out there, but you're not comfortable talking about it?
Jake: No, we have a lot in common. Now let's -- let's fix you. Come on.
Taylor: More dancing?
Jake: Oh, yeah, time for dancing with this doll right here. Let's go. Ready?
Taylor: This time I lead.
Jake: Is that right?
Taylor: That's right.
Nurse: Dr. Martin?
Nurse: It's an emergency. A Greenlee Smythe on the phone.
Jake: Oh. Ok.
Greenlee: Come on, Jake.
Jake: Hey, Greenlee, what's going on?
Greenlee: Aidan's been shot.
Jake: Where are you?
Greenlee: Pine Key -- some island.
Jake: What the hell is going on?
Greenlee: I'll explain it to you when you get here. You have to come, Jake. He's -- he's lost so much blood. The alarms keep going off. The doctors are saying that they can't do anything to save him.
Jake: All right, all right. I'm on my way to the airport. I'll call you from there, ok?
Greenlee: Thank you.
Greenlee: Ok, Jake's coming. He'll be here soon. Everything's going to be ok. You just have to hold on, Aidan. Just hold on.
Annie: I'm coming with you.
Ryan: I can move faster on my own, and this way I know you'll be safe.
Annie: Ryan, they think I killed Di.
Ryan: They're not going to string you up, Annie.
Annie: Ryan, I'm afraid to be here alone, ok? I am coming with you. I can -- I can help.
Ryan: How? Do you know something that you haven't told Jesse -- anything at all about where my daughter is?
Annie: What -- you think I'm going to tell you if I didn't know where she was? God, Ryan, it's just everything happened so fast. Di pulled out a gun, and we struggled, and then you and Aidan and Greenlee showed up. I'm just scared. The way Di was talking, it sounded like Emma had a limited amount of time or something.
Ryan: No, Di shot Aidan. Do you think she was afraid that he would say something?
Annie: No --
Ryan: They were lovers -- maybe they're in on this. Is that possible?
Annie: No, no, that's not possible. That -- that gunshot was intended for Greenlee. Aidan saved her life. He saved all of our lives. Oh, my God, if he dies --
Ryan: He does -- he's not going to die. He's going to make it.
Annie: Oh, my God. This is just all so -- so horrible, Ryan.
Ryan: Look, I can't do anything to help Aidan right now, but I will -- I will find Emma.
Annie: No, we will find Emma. Ok, I know Di better than you. Maybe there's some kind of clue or something. Ok? Ok, ok, this is our chance. Let's do it.
David: You can't possibly believe that Little A can grow up in this house and emerge unscathed from Adam's warped family values.
Krystal: Adam loves his grandson, and J.R. and I are going to be here to keep an eye on things.
David: Oh, that -- that's reassuring.
Krystal: You're just angry because you know that Little A living here means you have less of a chance of seeing him.
David: Adam loves with an iron fist, Krystal. He's going to squeeze everything Babe out of that boy, and you know it. Her love, her joy -- there's no way he's going to let that live.
David: Wow, it is amazing. Look at this. Little early for J.R. to be making moves, don't you think?
Krystal: You know, you keep telling everybody who will listen how much Babe changed your life. Why can't you just believe the same is true for J.R.?
David: If you have any compassion for that girl, any at all, I'd keep away from this house for good.
Krystal: Your time's up. I think it's time for you to go.
David: If that's what you really want.
Colby: Where have you been? Where did you go? I've been crazy worried. What happened?
Brot: Get out.
Colby: You know that doesn't work on me.
Brot: I really need to be alone right now.
Colby: Because of her, right? Taylor? I saw her with Jake Martin. I heard them --
Colby: She's a soldier. She's why you're here, right? You were in Iraq together?
Brot: I made a mistake.
Colby: Did you talk to her?
Brot: I said get out, damn it.
Colby: I'm not going anywhere.
Frankie: What's going on in there? Open the door.
Natalia: All right, Mama, you're all packed.
Rebecca: Thank you for opening your home to me.
Angie: You're family.
Rebecca: Might be more of a surprise than Jesse's ready for -- coming home, finding me there.
Angie: Well, I think if Jesse were here, he'd be all open to it. Let's get a wheelchair so we can get you out of here in style.
David: She's being released?
Angie: She's not your patient.
David: So you're taking her into your home?
Jesse: Jesse Hubbard, Pine Valley Police Chief -- I'm with the investigation. I'm going to need you to access your hotel records.
Officer: Can't leave my post, sir.
Jesse: Your captain assured me you would cooperate. Now, if that's a problem --
Officer: No problem, no problem.
Jesse: After you.
Annie: So what are we looking for?
Ryan: I don't know. I'm not going to know until I find it.
Annie: Where could Emma be? I mean, where -- where would Di take her? I don't understand.
Ryan: Wherever she is, we'll get there.
Annie: Di was so -- what if we never find Emma, Ryan? What if she dies because -- why would Di do this? I mean, she's just an innocent little girl. She didn't --
Ryan: I got something.
Annie: Her rosary?
Ryan: I know, this could have been there for -- forever or maybe, just maybe, it could be Di's.
Jesse: So the escapees return to the scene.
Frankie: Open the door.
[Colby opens the door]
Frankie: What are you doing?
Colby: Taking a nap. You said not to let them work me too hard.
Frankie: You were talking to someone.
Colby: I do that. I talk in my sleep. I walked in my sleep. It drove my mom crazy.
Frankie: So you're ok?
Colby: Yep, fine.
Frankie: Ok, then. Take care.
Colby: You, too. Hey, it's ok. It's me.
Brot: Thanks for not busting me out.
Colby: You know Frankie, too, don't you?
Colby: So you and Frankie and Taylor -- you were all in Iraq together? Buddies? And -- and now you're hiding in a closet. What's up with that?
Brot: Just -- just stay the hell out of it.
Colby: I'm way the hell in it, so you might as well tell me the rest.
Brot: I've got to get out of here. This hospital, Pine Valley.
Colby: You're not even going to talk to them?
Brot: I was wrong, stupid.
Colby: Look, I get you think I'm just a kid, and I don't know very much, but I do know it's usually better to suck it up and go for it instead of walking away. You don't do this, you might regret it the rest of your life.
Brot: Thanks for the wisdom, but this, you don't understand.
Colby: Stay or leave, you're going to need help. I'm totally down, but you've got to give it up, the whole story. Who are you, and why are you really here?
Tad: Well, hello to you, too.
Tad: Sorry, force of habit. I'm looking for Jake, and the word around the grapevine is he spends most of his time in here.
Taylor: Well, he was here, but there was an emergency. He's on a plane.
Taylor: He left me this, though.
Taylor: Yeah, it's to remind me not to be a couch potato.
Tad: See what he did there?
Tad: My brother, the romantic.
Taylor: Isn't he, though?
Tad: Yeah. I'm sorry, Taylor. I know he's, uh, he's been awfully hard on you.
Taylor: Yeah, drill sergeant hard. Lunatic, maniac, drill sergeant hard.
Taylor: Half the time, I've wanted to kill him. But he did do something right.
Tad: Which is?
Taylor: He didn't take no for an answer.
Angie: Where Rebecca goes and what she does is none of your business, and why are you even looking at her chart?
David: She needs to sign one of these.
Angie: Do-not-resuscitate form.
David: Mm-hmm, we don't want any lawsuits.
Angie: I'm Rebecca's doctor, and I've already discussed this with her. You know, you are invading my patient's privacy and mine, and you are way out of line. I will take this up with Joe.
David: Be my guest. The board asked me to look into other cases.
Angie: My case doesn't need looking into.
David: Well, you have to admit, it is pretty interesting -- your relationship to the patient. Rebecca is the mother of your husband's daughter, right?
Angie: You think I'm compromised? It's too personal?
David: I think you want to save lives, play the hero -- standard response given our profession.
Angie: I will do whatever my patient wants.
David: But in cases like these, terminal cancer, inoperable, the daughter might have unreasonable expectations. Turn to you, expecting more than you're capable of giving.
Angie: Again, Dr. Hayward, this is my case.
David: I'm just concerned.
Angie: No, you're interfering, and I will take this up with Joe. And if anyone is open for a lawsuit, frankly, my dear, it's you.
Greenlee: He's stable?
Doctor: For now.
Greenlee: You have to be all right, Aidan. You have to be ok.
Doctor: You and your husband, you're very much in love.
Greenlee: Why did you do that? Why won't you let me look at Annie's call list?
Aidan: Well, sometimes you don't think before you act.
Annie: Our daughter is in danger. We have to find her. We're not going back to that cell. We're not --
Jesse: I'm not taking you back.
Annie: You're not?
Jesse: No, I sent Officer Waldo on a mission. You got about 20 minutes, so let's get this search party started, ok?
Ryan: Thank you.
Jesse: Yeah, thank me when Emma's on that plane home.
Ryan: What's the word on Aidan?
Jesse: Well, Greenlee is with him. She's doing everything but breathing for him, and that might not help. I thought I'd be more useful here, but I got nothing.
Ryan: Jesse, I found this.
Jesse: Wax -- I found wax on Di's purse. It's on this rosary.
Ryan: Votive candles.
Jesse: I think we got a lead here.
Officer: What the hell? Well, look what I found.
Annie: No, Ryan!
Ryan: Ok, ok churches and chapels -- how many on the island, and where?
Emma: Aunt Di, where are you? I like it here, but I want out.
Di: I'll be right back, ok, sweetie? You'll be safe here.
Emma: No, I don't want you to go.
Di: I'll be back before you know it. I promise.
Frankie: Your ride, madam.
Rebecca: Oh, is it official -- am I a free woman?
Angie: Uh, there is this one more thing.
Natalia: What's that?
Angie: The DNR form your mother asked for.
Frankie: Do not resuscitate.
Natalia: No! Mom, you can't sign that.
Rebecca: Natalia --
Natalia: No, and how could you guys even do this? You're doctors.
Rebecca: Natalia --
Natalia: Your job is to keep her alive, not force her to sign it away.
Angie: That's not what it means. It simply states what your mother's wishes are. Uh, so that the caregiver knows what's going on and is very clear if she's unable to speak for herself.
Natalia: No, but I'll speak for her. No, tell them you're not going to sign this.
Rebecca: Honey, it's what I want.
Natalia: This is giving up.
Rebecca: Natalia, give me the document.
Frankie: Natalia, please, let's step outside for a second.
Natalia: You're not signing this. Don't let her talk you into this, Mom.
Angie: I'm sorry. I should have waited.
Rebecca: No, it's fine. I want Natalia to know everything, to be part of the process, at least, and -- well, at least if she's aware of it, then she can accept that my time is limited.
Angie: Rebecca, you don't have to sign the document.
Rebecca: No, it's -- it's what I want. It's best for everyone, especially for her. Uh -- I'm at peace with my decision, and I want her to be, as well.
Natalia: Look, my mom can't sign this. This is insane.
Frankie: This -- this is a legal document that protects your mother.
Natalia: It lets her die.
Frankie: It gives her control, Natalia. It lets her make the choices now that she won't be able to make when the time comes.
Natalia: So I'm just supposed to do nothing?
Frankie: What you're supposed to do is understand that what your mother is doing right now, it takes a lot of courage. I think you should honor that. Look, our parents, they raised us, support us, protect us, give, and then they turn around and give more. But it's all about us. There has to be some point where it's about their wishes, what they want.
Krystal: Hope I'm not interrupting.
J.R.: No, not at all.
Amanda: How are you holding up? Is there anything I can do?
Krystal: No. It helps to be with family and friends.
Amanda: Hmm. I still can't believe it. Yeah, I hear a joke, I want to call her. I need advice -- Babe was my go-to girlfriend.
Krystal: She was my go-to everything.
Amanda: She loved you so much.
Amanda: She just wanted to be as good a mom to Little A as you were to her.
Krystal: Well, she was. So, uh, how are you doing? Have you thought about moving in?
J.R.: It's what Little A needs. I'll make it work.
Krystal: Well, it's getting kind of late. I better get going. Do you, uh, you want a ride?
Amanda: Uh, no, I'm -- I'm ok. Thanks.
Krystal: Ok. So, um, I'll call you tomorrow, ok? See how and Little A are doing.
Krystal: All right.
Amanda: Sucks, doesn't it? Being sad all the time?
J.R.: I wake up in the morning. I do what's got to be done. Go to bed. Start all over the next day. Cover for Little A. It's -- it's like I'm --
Amanda: In shock. You know, I still talk to Babe sometimes. Tell her about something at the office or whatever. Then the next thing I know, I'm yelling at the top of my lungs because it -- never mind.
J.R.: Because you're pissed off. I've been there. Why did she have to do it? Why did she have to die? Why did she leave me alone?
Taylor: Thanks. Actually, I wanted to apologize to you. The last time you were here, I -- I was kind of pathetic. You know, I was wallowing.
Taylor: Your brother snapped me out of it, though.
Tad: You mean he tortured you until you were willing to make the first move?
Tad: Hmm. Well, that's Jake. I should thank you because if you want to know the truth, I think you snapped him out of something, too.
Tad: Yes, you.
Taylor: Must be my fantastic dancing.
Tad: Yeah, there is that. I think it's your heart and your strength. You're a very formidable person. And those are the things that Krystal brought back to my life, you know, before. Before she showed up, I would spend most of my time running into the wall, wallowing, being pathetic. And then she walked in and, like I say, snapped me out of it. Yeah, I don't care what anybody says. Being with somebody you know has got your back no matter what, that's the best kind of motivation there is, and peace.
Taylor: One thing that's important, though -- trust.
Tad: Yeah. It's the heartbeat of a relationship.
Brot: Why don't you go do whatever it is that you do besides harass people?
Colby: You don't mean that. You're just trying to get rid of me. So, how'd you end up here?
Brot: Tad Martin tracked me down to the V.A. Hospital in Bethesda. I was using another guy's name.
Brot: I look like a dead man. I mean, why not be one?
Colby: That's crazy. Sorry. So, Taylor?
Brot: We were engaged.
Colby: You're letting the woman you love think you're dead? That's horrible.
Brot: I should saddle her with a face like this? Every time she sees me, she'll feel some sense of pity. She'd only stay out of -- out of some sense of duty.
Colby: How do you know that?
Brot: I did the right thing.
Colby: But you're here. You still love her.
Brot: Frankie came to see me.
Colby: Frankie knows, too?
Brot: He doesn't know that I'm here. He -- Frankie told me about Taylor, the accident, so I had to see for myself -- I saw, and she's fine.
Colby: You saw -- you saw her with Jake.
Brot: I'm happy for her. It's what I wanted -- for her to move on.
Colby: If this is you happy --
Brot: I need to get out of here.
Ryan: It's not a trick question. Churches, chapels -- where are they?
Jesse: Answer him, please.
Officer: There's only one nearby. Closed a couple years ago, hurricane damage.
Annie: Where -- where is it?
Officer: About a mile from here. A dirt road, Las Pulgas.
Ryan: Thank you.
Annie: Ok, let's go. Let's go, hurry.
Ryan: All right.
Jesse: We'll send help.
Rebecca: Thank you, sweetheart.
Rebecca: And thank you. Sweetheart, it's going to be all right.
Natalia: You're dying.
Natalia: There's nothing all right about that.
Rebecca: It's a great adventure. I'm looking forward to it. All the great unknown known, and all the mysteries unraveled. Do angels really sing? And are the gates really pearly?
Natalia: Don't talk to me like I'm a kid.
Rebecca: No, sweetheart, all I'm saying is that life is about looking forward, not looking back. Isn't that right?
Angie: I couldn't agree more.
Amanda: I thought I was the only one that felt that way. I mean, it sounds so wrong to even say it. How can I be mad at someone who died?
J.R.: Because we're selfish. Because we need Babe.
Amanda: Fusion is a nightmare without her. She was the only one who backed my decisions. Made me think a flake like me could actually be good at something. She was so street-smart about things. You know, guys. She really helped me with Jake.
J.R.: She wasn't that smart about me. She gave me a chance, a hundred of them. She got me sober. She kept me sober. Helped me to be a good dad. What if -- what if I screw up Little Adam? What if it was a mistake to come back here?
Amanda: Look at us. A couple of losers lost without Babe. I should go.
J.R.: It's been a long day. Hey, Amanda? Thank you.
Colby: You can't go. You need to see Taylor.
Brot: Taylor has a new life with a good man, a whole man.
Colby: What are you talking about? She loved you. You were engaged. At least, go tell her you're happy for her.
Brot: It doesn't work that way. It would just mess things up.
Colby: What if you came back and Taylor wasn't involved with someone? What if --
Brot: "What ifs" aren't in my ammo pack.
Colby: You're a war hero, a big, strong, brave guy. You can do this. You have to. You love her.
Brot: Maybe I love her enough to allow her to live her life.
Colby: God, you're a hard case.
Brot: So are you still going to help me get out of here without being seen?
Colby: Where are you going to go?
Brot: I don't know.
Greenlee: Thank God you're here. You have to save him.
Jake: Well, Dr. Orantes filled me in. Thank you. And so the -- the bullet hit the clavicle, punctured the left lung, and landed by the aorta.
Greenlee: The doctor said you have to get the bullet out.
Jake: Well, let's just worry about keeping him alive first, ok?
Greenlee: Jake, we need to wake him up.
Jake: Well, first things first.
Greenlee: I have to talk to him.
Jake: You'll talk to him later.
Greenlee: Are you going to do surgery?
Jake: Well, I don't have Pine Valley's O.R. -- what choice do I have?
Greenlee: Aidan -- Aidan, it's Greenlee. Can you hear me? Jake's here. I'm here.
Annie: Oh, my God. Emma! Are you in there?
Jesse: It's locked.
Ryan: These doors are locked!
Emma: Daddy, Mommy, I'm scared.
Ryan: One, two, three.
Nurse: Are you ok?
Taylor: Yeah -- ahem -- I'm fine. It's just a dream.
Nurse: Seemed more like a nightmare.
Taylor: Old memory -- dancing with my fiancÚ. He died.
Nurse: You're all right.
Taylor: Same dream.
Brot: Just get me to the bus station.
Colby: Destination unknown?
Brot: I'll figure it out when I get there.
Colby: Just like that?
Brot: My benefits are enough to live on. Eventually I'll get a place. What does it matter where?
Colby: Yeah, right -- except for the fact that just maybe there are a few people who would love to know you're still alive. Ok. I'm done.
Brot: Remember, you don't tell anybody you saw me. I walk away. Nobody knows different. Nobody gets hurt.
Colby: Wait. I think I know a place you can stay for now.
Angie: Excuse me.
David: Yes, doctor?
Angie: DNR form signed, ink still wet. Patient's protected. Hospital's protected. Happy?
David: It's you I'm worried about.
David: That's right. When a doctor's private life gets tangled up with her job, people always get hurt.
Tad: So how is J.R. and Little Adam?
Krystal: Oh. J.R. decided to move back into the mansion for Little A.
Tad: You ok with it?
Krystal: I hope it's the right decision. You ok?
Tad: Yeah, I'm fine.
Krystal: I don't ask you that much lately, do I? And you're so busy taking care of me and Jenny and Kathy.
Tad: Darling, stop. I'm terrific, really. What about you? Did something happen? Did you have a run-in with Adam or something?
Krystal: No, no, just -- I mean, what if I'm wrong? What if living in that mansion, Little A grows up exactly the same way J.R. did?
Tad: Well, what if he does? Listen, J.R. has had his problems, you know. He still does, but he's grown up into a fine young man. So will Little A. Hey, come on. After all, he's got us to look after him. Ok?
Tad: Is everything good?
Krystal: Everything's good.
Greenlee: Aidan, you're going to be all right. Jake's here. He's going to operate.
Aidan: Just let me -- there's something I need to tell you.
Annie: Don't worry, sweetheart! We're coming, Emma! Hurry, hurry!
Ryan: One, two, three. Emma!
Jesse: Wait, wait.
Annie: My daughter's in there! She needs me.
Jesse: Ryan will get her! Ryan will get her!
