Tad: You're sure that that's Brot?
Frankie: Broughton Monroe, yeah, the guy was in my unit. That's my boy, we were tight.
Tad: And now he's history.
Frankie: He's gone. I tried to patch him up as best I could but he died a week later in Germany.
Tad: Well, apparently not.
Frankie: No, no, no, the guy you think you saw, that'd have to be someone else.
Tad: Frankie, I'm not thinking nothing, I know it was him. I'm telling you, I could see it in his eyes. It was Taylor's fiancé, which means he's not dead which means that none of this makes any sense.
Frankie: Well, maybe it does.
Jake: Is everything ok?
Taylor: It's ok.
Jake: Just ok?
Taylor: More than ok. Hmm. For a second there, I forgot about these. Hmm. And I forgot about that thing.
Taylor: And the accident. And it was just you and me.
Jake: What's wrong? What is it?
Taylor: I just can't make me forget what happened over there. Memories like that, they grab hold when you least expect it.
David: I got rid of Tad. Now you're all mine.
[Krystal breathes heavily]
Krystal: Oh. Oh. Oh. Damn you, David.
Amanda: Have you ever looked into the mirror and wondered who was staring back at you?
David: All the time.
Annie: He put me on a plane. I -- I think it's somewhere tropical.
Ryan: You're in Puerto Rico, Annie. We tracked you here, and we're going to find you, ok? Is Emma with you? Annie, is Emma with you? God!
Aidan: Does Annie know where she is?
Ryan: No, she doesn't, she just -- she said, um -- she said by a beach, someplace. They blindfolded her, so she doesn't know anything.
Greenlee: Well, what about Emma? Is she ok?
Ryan: I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. We didn't get that far. We didn't get that far.
Annie: Di? It's Annie.
Di: Hey, I'm glad you called.
Annie: How's Emma?
Di: Same as how you left her, perfect. Do you want to talk to Emma? She's right here.
Annie: No, that's ok.
Di: You keep saying that, Annie.
Annie: Well, if Emma hears my voice, she's going to get homesick. Besides, I'm going to see my little girl in two days, right?
Di: The Palm Hotel in Pine Key. We'll be there.
Annie: Great. Oh, and, Di, um, thanks again for everything. You've been a real lifesaver.
Aidan: It's a blocked number, can't trace it.
Greenlee: So, what exactly did Annie say?
Ryan: She didn't talk very long. She just -- she was near a beach. She was blindfolded. I asked about Emma, and the line went dead.
Aidan: You hear anything in the background?
Greenlee: How did she get to a phone in the first place?
Aidan: Did she sound scared?
Ryan: Yeah and urgent. She thought somebody might walk back in any second.
Greenlee: Well, maybe they did. Did she mention Emma at all?
Aidan: Well, surely that would have been the first thing that came out of her mouth.
Ryan: Which makes me think that maybe Emma is not with her.
Greenlee: If she's not with her then --
Ryan: I don't know, I don't know, we just got to go with what we have here, ok?
Aidan: Which is?
Ryan: Which is, uh, a house by a beach.
Aidan: Ryan, we're on an island. That's not going to get us anywhere.
Ryan: Do you have a better suggestion? Because I'm all ears.
Greenlee: You know, she called once. Maybe she'll call again.
Ryan: My daughter is out there and she needs me and all I can do is I can sit around and wait. That's it.
Angie: Your EKG looks relatively normal.
Angie: Well, there's one funky spot. Listen, let's run another and get her started on an IV of saline. In the meantime, why don't you tell me what happened.
Krystal: I had this nightmare, you know and I -- I woke up. I was in a state. I was just sweating. My heart was racing.
Angie: Any pain?
Krystal: Yeah, and tightness right here, and that's what scared me because I -- I've had panic attacks but this was --
Angie: The nightmare, what was it about?
Krystal: Ok, there it goes again.
Angie: Start that IV, stat.
Krystal: Again --
Angie: All right, Krystal, look at me. I want you to just look at me and breathe.
Amanda: I mean seriously, who am I? I'm an attention-seeking slut.
David: Whoa, don't you think you're being a little harsh?
Amanda: No, I sleep with men, David, all kinds. Jamie, J.R., Jonathan, Jake --
David: All right, so you've slept with a lot of guys. Who cares?
Amanda: I do.
David: Well, then, I'm sorry, Amanda. If I had known, I never would have --
Amanda: What? Let me come on to you? As usual, it's all me, always in complete control.
David: Do you hear me complaining? No, because having the power, calling the shots, that seems to be what you're good at.
Amanda: Then why, when it's all over, do I feel like such crap afterwards? Because I sleep with men for all the wrong reasons.
David: Hmm. Ok, so what was the reason for sleeping with me?
Amanda: It's beyond twisted. You wouldn't understand.
David: Darling, I invented twisted.
Frankie: We dealt with a lot of things over there in the war, ok, things you can't even dream up, not in your ugliest nightmares, but over there, we dealt with it because we had to. There was too much going on, no time to think, and everyone, from the cooks to the mess hall to the nurses in the infirmary, they knew.
Tad: But back here in the world --
Frankie: They don't.
Tad: So that's why you hid out when you got back to town?
Frankie: Man, it was like I was a completely different person, but everybody expected me to be the same.
Tad: And you think that's how this guy Brot feels?
Frankie: Yeah, but it's worse. I mean, at least I -- this man was burnt alive. I tried to patch him up, but I -- I -- I don't know. You tell me, you saw him.
Tad: Yeah. Yeah, he's definitely been there and back again.
Frankie: Yeah, and I had issues coming home so just imagine what Brot's going through.
Tad: Frankie, I mean, he's -- he's got a woman that loves him. His fiancée, I mean, who thinks he's dead.
Frankie: Sounds to me like he is, not only to himself but to the world.
Tad: Yeah, but he's not, and we know different. So, what are we supposed to do? I mean, you tell me you're going to look your good friend Taylor every day in the face and pretend --
Frankie: It's not my decision, Tad. It's not yours either.
Taylor: In case you hadn't noticed, I have a little trouble relinquishing control.
Jake: Oh, no, I never noticed that.
Taylor: So, when these memories hit, I, um, I just wish I was a little more prepared instead of being ambushed without warning.
Jake: Yeah, whole different kind of war, isn't it, when your mind turns against you? What, what, just because my wife ran off with Mr. Unibrow-truck-driver-guy, you don't think I think about it all the time?
Taylor: Do you think about it when you're with me? Because that's when mine hit, when I'm happy, when I'm laughing for just a second, when I'm with you. It's like as soon as I forget, for just a second, I have to get a warning or, I don't know, maybe it's -- maybe it's punishment from God.
Jake: It's punished for what? For trying to move on? Trying to push forward? Trying to find happiness? Then what else are we supposed to do?
Taylor: I know. This is quite a challenge for me. At least now I can't run away.
[Knock on door]
Jake: Just excuse me for one sec.
Jake: I'm sorry, what's up?
Tad: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I hope I wasn't interrupting.
Jake: Well, you were but what's up?
Tad: Well, how's she doing?
Jake: She's good. She's good. She's pig-headed, ornery, stubborn, don't know how I ever lived without her. What's up -- talk to me, what?
Rebecca: The last thing I ever wanted to do was interrupt your new life. Your new old life, I guess. If it wasn't for this cancer --
Jesse: Oh, so now you're going to blame yourself for getting sick. Hell, we could sit here all day and play the blame game. The fact remains, you saved me, Rebecca. You gave me my life back, twice, and I gave you nothing.
Rebecca: Our daughter? Love? Life.
Jesse: The two of you deserve so much more. I needed to be able to give you more.
Rebecca: Would you please stop saying that? What we had was real. It was real, Jesse, and I cherished every moment.
Jesse: Till I took it all away.
Rebecca: No. Until I let you go. No, look at me. I let you go and now it's your turn.
Jake: I need to talk to this guy just for one second. Uh, Eric? Eric, sorry, yes, uh, Lieutenant Thompson, she's ready to stop throwing things now and then she's ready for you, so you, you know, some physical therapy anytime that you say so.
Eric: Right now I have an appointment with another patient. I'll swing through when I'm done. You'll still be here?
Tad: He'll be here.
Jake: Another appointment? He's been doing, uh -- just want to make sure about one thing, you're not -- you're not making fun of me, right?
Tad: No, when's the last time you were outside this hospital? When's the last time you were off this corridor?
Jake: I'm -- I'm -- I'm helping her.
Tad: You're sure it's not the other way around?
Jake: We had a --
Tad: Don't give me the cheesy stare with the super combo, ok? The last time I saw the two of you together, it was like a bus accident.
Jake: It's what they call a breakthrough.
Tad: Well, I'm glad to hear it.
Tad: I'm serious. I'm glad to hear it.
Jake: What happened with the guy that was calling and wanted to know some stuff about her?
Tad: I don't know.
Jake: You hear back from him?
Tad: I -- no, I don't know what happened with that.
Jake: Probably for the best.
Tad: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. So, not to put too fine a point on it, things with the lieutenant -- it's all good?
Jake: I said they're good, they're fine, they're good. I look in her eyes and I, you know, I see hope there.
David: Go ahead.
Amanda: I slept with you because of J.R., the things that he said. I -- I told you it was twisted.
David: And I told you I wrote the book, so keep going.
Amanda: Well, it's no secret that I've never been a huge fan of J.R.'s.
David: Join the club.
Amanda: I mean, even when we were together, it's not like we had some huge romance. We hardly got along half the time, but --
Amanda: When he finally got back together with Babe, I -- I started to look at him differently.
Amanda: Because Babe loved him, and I loved her and so, if something that sweet and caring can show to someone like Babe, I mean, it's got to be real, right? Well, I couldn't have been more wrong.
David: Well, you certainly had that right. The guy is a total ass.
Amanda: You helped remind me of that.
David: So, sleeping with me was thank-you sex? Kind of like a reward?
Amanda: Pretty much, yeah.
Amanda: Don't say it. I -- I'm sick. It's twisted, I know. I -- I need help. I'm going to go home and deal with myself and next time I see you, I promise to have more restraint.
David: I certainly hope not. I don't care what the motives were. You, Amanda Dillon, are amazingly beautiful, and if it were up to me, we would relive this night over and over and over again.
Amanda: Uh, I'm sorry, I have to go.
Annie: Come on. Pick up, pick up, pick up. Pick up.
Annie: Ryan -- Ryan they came back. I had to -- I had to hang up.
Ryan: So, you -- you can't still have your blindfold on, then.
Annie: No -- no, they took the blindfold off when they brought me inside.
Ryan: Ok, good, I -- I want you to take a look around, Annie, and tell me anything you see, anything at all.
Annie: Uh, a lighthouse. There -- we must be somewhere near a lighthouse.
Ryan: Ok, that's good. That's good, Annie. We're going to find you, ok? Is Emma with you?
Annie: No, I don't -- I don't know where she is. Oh, my God.
Ryan: What? What's happening?
Annie: Oh, my God, someone's here! Ryan, you have to help me! Oh, my God, Ryan, help me!
Ryan: Annie's near a lighthouse.
Veteran: You watch where you're going, idiot? Damn civilians.
Brot: You're not supposed to be here, Hub.
Frankie: Neither are you, my friend.
Jesse: Don't ask me to walk away again. I barely got through it the first time.
Rebecca: Jesse, I need you to stop feeling guilty and feel proud. You are living the life you were meant to live.
Jesse: But I loved you, Rebecca, and Natalia. I still do.
Rebecca: Good, because she's going to need you, no matter how much she pushes you away.
Jesse: Yeah, well, I'm not running from this. I ain't going nowhere. I promise you.
Rebecca: You're going to take care of our baby?
Jesse: She's probably going to have to take care of me. But yeah, we'll take care of each other, and she's going to be just fine. She's just like her mother. She's smart, strong.
Rebecca: Oh, she's going to be trouble, too, because she's stubborn and impulsive, just like you.
Jesse: Impulsive. You remember that -- remember that time I got you and Natalia out of bed at the crack of dawn, threw you in the car --
Rebecca: She was just a baby.
Jesse: I read some article about Block Island, had to go.
Rebecca: So we did.
Jesse: That sunrise, remember that sunrise?
Rebecca: It was gorgeous.
Jesse: Do you remember what you said that morning?
Rebecca: That I'd never been so happy.
Jesse: I find myself thanking God that I was at least able to give you that.
[Monitor beeps quickly]
Krystal: What are you doing here?
David: "Thank you, David." I know this is your night off.
Krystal: No, you know, I -- I -- I don't even have to see you. I sense your presence and -- and my heart starts racing.
David: Hmm. I seem to have that effect on women.
Krystal: Yeah, causing them to drop dead.
David: Nobody's dying, at least not today. I see no sign of a heart attack in your blood work or your EKGs.
Krystal: Well, then, what -- what is wrong?
David: Let's find out. I need you to loosen your gown. Do you want me to help you or not?
[Krystal inhales sharply]
Krystal: It's cold.
David: I can't hear your heart if you keep talking, all right? Take a deep breath for me.
[Krystal inhales then exhales]
David: Ok. Try to breathe normally.
[Krystal inhales then exhales]
David: That's it.
David: So, you had an anxiety attack, and I know what caused it.
Aidan: Fisherman's Point lighthouse, right there.
Greenlee: How do you know it's the right one? There are a bunch of lighthouses on here.
Aidan: Because all the rest of them are nearly inaccessible.
Ryan: Yeah, no roads, no houses, it's got to be Fisherman's Point, it's got to be.
Greenlee: So, what are we waiting for?
Aidan: Just -- something -- something feels off.
Ryan: What are you talking about, what?
Aidan: What if we're walking into a trap? I mean, these guys, they go into -- they go to the trouble of blindfolding Annie and then she -- she gets free reign of the house.
Ryan: What do you mean, "free reign of the house"? She had to sneak away -- around to make those phone calls.
Aidan: Yeah, does that not seem strange to you? I mean, how did she get to a phone?
Ryan: I don't have time to sit around and discuss the motives, ok, guys?
Greenlee: Yeah, Ryan, just think about it for a second.
Ryan: No, I'm not going to sit around and think about this. My daughter is out there. She needs me. I will do whatever it takes to get her, ok?
Aidan: I'll go, all right? But I'm going to do it alone.
Ryan: Aidan, she's my daughter. Ok, I go. You stay here, you take care of Greenlee.
Greenlee: No way, we all go.
[Greenlee gasps when Aidan knocks Ryan out with a punch]
Aidan: If this is a trap and I let Ryan go, he could end up dead, and I'm sure that's not what you want.
Greenlee: I don't want anyone to end up dead.
Aidan: Which is exactly why I'm going to go, because the kidnapper's not expecting me, but Ryan. All right? And if -- if he's not tied up, he's going to want to come after me, isn't he?
Greenlee: So, you're shackling him to the bar.
Aidan: Do you want him to live or not? He's going to be angry, and he's going to beg you to untie him, but you can't, Greenlee, not until you hear from me.
Greenlee: Well, how long? He only paid the guy to clear the bar out for a couple of hours.
Aidan: Until I think it's safe. I'm serious, Greenlee. You guys show up before you get an ok from me, everybody can end up dead. Do you understand?
Ryan: Untie me, Devane.
Aidan: You're not going anywhere, Ryan.
Ryan: You get these ropes off me right now.
Aidan: You want to see Emma, you're going to do things my way.
Ryan: Ok. Ok. But if anything happens to Emma, I swear to God --
Aidan: It won't. Wait for my call, Greenlee, and do not let him go.
David: And don't fight me on this. You need to relax, take it easy, stop worrying about J.R. and Little A and Tad --
Krystal: And you.
David: If I'm part of the problem, definitely. You just buried our daughter, Krystal. Add that to everything else, and your body just can't take it.
Krystal: I just keep thinking it's going to get better, you know, easier. But it just -- just seems to get worse.
David: Yeah. Just give it some time. In the meanwhile, just try to focus on something else. Also, on your way home get yourself a bite to eat. Your body could use it.
Krystal: Yeah. David --
Krystal: Thank you.
David: Sure. Dr. Hubbard.
Angie: Feeling better?
Krystal: Yeah, much. You heard the doctor's orders.
Angie: Yeah, well, you know, I could use some food myself not to mention a tall glass of wine.
Krystal: Are you ok?
Angie: It has just been one of those nights.
Brot: Get the hell out of here, Hub.
Frankie: Not until you tell me why.
Brot: Look at me, Hub. Really, take a long look at me. If you had an ounce of humanity in your body, you would find a gun and end this right now.
Frankie: I defended you.
Brot: Damn it. You should have just let me die.
Frankie: Selfish ass. You had any idea what it's been like for us -- for Taylor?
Brot: Don't throw Taylor in my face right now.
Frankie: You made me a liar. I looked L.T. in the eyes and I said, "I'd fix him. Go worry about the rest." She did, but I couldn't keep up my end of the bargain.
Brot: Poor you.
Frankie: It's because I couldn't fix you. But I got to live with that.
Brot: You've had to live with that? Try living with this, Hub.
Jake: All right.
Taylor: So, what do we do now?
Jake: Well, it's time for what they call in the business physical therapy.
Taylor: Oh, Jake, I don't -- I don't think that I can --
Jake: No, no, no. Look, you want to walk again, this is something you're going to have to do. Ok? Ready? Good. Very good. We'll start with the left -- left foot.
Taylor: You know I can't feel that.
Jake: I know.
Jake: Ok. You ok? Yeah? Very good. Good. All right. Now I'm going -- on the count of three, I'm going -- I want to put you on your right side, ok?
Taylor: Great. Roll me over like a beached whale?
Jake: You're a lot cuter than a beached whale and easily 10 to 15 pounds lighter. You ready? One, two, three. Ok, very good.
Taylor: What are you doing now?
Jake: Just more of the same.
Taylor: Good to know.
Jake: You're going to get through this, ok? You're going to get through this.
Frankie: You want me to feel sorry for you?
Brot: I want you to leave me alone.
Frankie: Because I don't. I feel sorry for Taylor, your fiancée. You know what she did when she first heard you were gone? She didn't scream. She didn't cry. She didn't fall to the ground and collapse. She went out and fought harder, just firing rounds the same way you were the last time she saw you alive. Now, she never said it, but I think it made her feel closer to you.
Brot: I'm glad you were there for her.
Frankie: You think she was leaning on me -- on any of us? Taylor bucked up like a soldier and kept it all inside which was great -- or was it? Because all that anger, that grief, that pain -- it started to eat her up inside.
Brot: She'll get over it. Trust me, she will.
Frankie: What, when she's dead? You know, all Taylor can talk about is getting back to save lives, to protect this country, to be with her unit. She wants to go back so she can be closer to you. Suicide provided by the U.S. government. Are you? Are you really going to let that happen?
Brot: I'm not the same person, hub. Different head, different face, different arms. I'm just different.
Frankie: You're right. You are different. I don't know who you are anymore, and I don't know if I want to either.
Krystal: Want to talk about it?
Angie: You know, I've just been so good at holding it all together. I'm scared if I talk about it, I'll just lose it.
Krystal: Hmm. Well, take it from somebody who just got out of the hospital. If you keep it bottled up, you're going to lose it bigtime.
Angie: In that case -- uh, waitress, can you make one of those drinks a double?
Amanda: Anything with alcohol, keep them coming.
Bartender: What's a beautiful woman like you doing here all alone?
Amanda: Is that a line?
Bartender: Do you want it to be?
Amanda: Look, I'm not here to get laid, ok? I'm here because I just did. Ah.
Tad: Hayward, you seen Krystal? I got a note from her saying she had to drive herself to the hospital.
David: What happened, Tad? Couldn't be bothered to give your wife a ride?
Tad: I don't want to spend any more time than I have to with you. Just answer the question.
David: Yes, I saw Krystal. As a matter of fact, I just had my hand up her blouse.
Tad: You son of a bitch.
David: Take it easy. I was listening to her heart.
Tad: Well, what does that -- is she all right?
David: No thanks to you.
Tad: A simple yes or no would do just fine, thanks.
David: Yes, yes. Apparently, she was at home. She got upset over something and had an anxiety attack. You weren't there to console her, so the job became mine -- one I didn't sign up for but enjoyed nonetheless.
Tad: Is she still here?
David: Nope. You just missed her.
Tad: It's been a slice. Thanks a heap.
David: You got to admit, this is pretty funny how some things just never change.
Tad: What things?
David: The women in your life. Whenever they need help, they always seem to come running back to me.
Ryan: Right, he's gone and now I need you to help me untie this.
Greenlee: What if Aidan's right? What if this is a trap? You could get hurt, or worse.
Ryan: That is a chance that I am willing to take, Greenlee.
Greenlee: Well, I'm not. Let Aidan handle this.
Ryan: I am Emma's father. I should be the one to save her.
Greenlee: Who cares who saves her as long --
Ryan: Untie me, Greenlee.
Greenlee: I can't.
Ryan: Do you love me?
Greenlee: Don't do this, not now.
Ryan: Do you love me?
Greenlee: You know I do, yes.
Ryan: Then please trust me.
[Aidan looks through the window and sees Annie calmly drinking a glass of wine]
David: People respect doctors, you know. Look up to them -- especially women. When their hearts are broken literally and figuratively, they come to me to fix them. It's a big responsibility. And at the end of the day when I save a life like a Laura English or Dixie or even Krystal. It's all worth it. So, don't worry, Tad, if little Kathy or Jenny ever find themselves in a pickle, I'll be happy to make sure they know who to come --
[Tad punches David in the mouth]
Tad: That's good to know, David.
Angie: I'm so tired of being noble, putting everyone else first. St. Angela, huh. Who cares if my life is shredded to bits, right? Let me tell you I'm so damn angry at Jesse. I'm angry at these other women. I'm angry at every-damn-body. But I can't say anything because Rebecca is dying --
Angie: And Natalia is his daughter -- his family. I can't just pretend the girl doesn't exist, you know? So I have to stuff it down. Keep it in. But I -- I'll tell you something, Krystal. If I had my way, Jesse would hear how I really feel.
Krystal: I think he just did.
[Angie turns around and sees Jesse standing behind her]
Veteran: Hey, man. I'm really sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to bark. I just had a crap day.
Frankie: Yeah, tell me about it.
Jake: Ok? There.
Taylor: Thank you.
Jake: You have to do your physical therapy.
Taylor: I meant for just sitting here with me and always challenging me and putting up with me, really.
Jake: It's not a chore at all.
Taylor: I think you must be some kind of saint.
Jake: Yeah, St. Martin.
Jake: Well, whenever you're ready.
Jake: I just want you to know that I never put myself any place I don't want to be. I want to be right here with you, and I meant what I said. You know? I meant it just as long as you don't go giving up.
Taylor: I can't wait to kick your butt again.
Jake: Is that right?
Jake: Well, what part of -- or what activity, exactly?
Taylor: At everything.
Jake: Your -- your foot moved.
Jake: Can you feel that?
Taylor: Yes. Yeah, I can feel that.
Greenlee: I love you, and of course, I trust you and -- oh, my God. How did he get this so tight?
Ryan: Ok, ok, you got it.
Ryan: Ok, ok. Thank you. Thank you.
Greenlee: Sorry I waited so long. Wait, let me get my purse.
Ryan: No, no, no, no, no, no. You got to stay here.
Greenlee: No, I don't.
Ryan: Yes, you do. It could be dangerous.
Greenlee: Which is why you need me. I'm going with you.
[After Aidan bursts in, he lowers his gun and smiles at Annie who hands him a drink]
Annie: It's about time.
