Adam: What the hell are you doing here?
David: Would you believe I left my toothbrush in the tunnels?
J.R.: Are you ok, buddy? Go now. Don't ever come back.
David: No can do, Junior. We have to make up for lost time.
J.R.: No, we're done.
David: I'm not talking about us, genius. I'm talking about me and my grandson.
J.R.: You're not coming anywhere near him ever again.
Greenlee: How is she?
Erica: Joe, what happened? Kendall's heart is giving out?
Greenlee: Oh, God. You said it stopped and then you started it. Now it's giving out?
Erica: Stop talking. Let Joe talk. Joe, I want the truth. Is my daughter dying?
Annie: What -- Emma?
Ryan: What happened?
Annie: No, Emma!
Ryan: What happened?
Annie: Oh, God. Ryan, $10 million? But she looked ok, right? Don't you think she looked ok? At least we saw her.
Aidan: According to the time and the date stamp, it's a live feed, so she's fine.
Ryan: Fine? Fine? Are you kidding me? You could have killed her!
Greenlee: This doesn't make any sense.
Erica: I thought that she had a brain injury.
Joe: Yes, but the coma has placed a strain on all of Kendall's systems, particularly to the heart. And one of its valves is not functioning properly.
Erica: Well, can it be fixed?
Bianca: What's going on?
Zach: Who screwed up this time?
Joe: Kendall's heart is under a good deal of stress.
Erica: Joe, please, the bottom line?
Joe: She needs immediate surgery, or she will not survive.
Erica: Well, what are you waiting for? Do the surgery.
Joe: Well, unfortunately it's not that simple.
Erica: Why not?
Joe: Because the procedure that Kendall needs requires a specialist, and ours was injured by the tornado. However, I've called a top cardiothoracic surgeon in Chicago.
Erica: My child's life is in grave danger, and you're telling me there is no doctor here who can help her?
Bianca: Mom --
Erica: This is ridiculous. I thought you were running a first-rate hospital, Joe. I guess -- well, obviously I was wrong.
Greenlee: This isn't helping.
Erica: You need to go home now.
Erica: Kendall needs her family. You do not belong here.
Greenlee: I love her as much as you do.
Erica: You're just a spoiled brat.
Zach: Take it easy. Come here. Maybe she's right. Go home.
Greenlee: I want to help.
Zach: I know. Go home and help from there. We'll give you updates.
Greenlee: Promise me.
Zach: Ok. I want a second opinion.
Joe: There's no time for that.
Zach: Your son operated on Kendall, and now she's in a coma. You really think I'm going to use some guy I've never met before to cut her heart open?
Joe: Dr. Raker is an excellent surgeon.
Zach: Is he the best?
Erica: No. But I know who is.
David: I have every right to be a part of this child's life.
J.R.: No, you're nothing to him. And you never will be.
David: Oh, that's very funny, considering he is my flesh and blood.
Adam: You've tried to destroy this family by blowing out of town in a blaze of infamy. Well, you failed, so stay away.
David: I left because I had no choice. You brainwashed Babe into thinking I was the enemy. But you're not going to do that with my grandson.
Adam: Stop calling him that.
J.R.: Here, why don't you go have Lucretia make you something yummy for lunch and then you can have this for dessert, ok?
Little A: Ok.
David: That child is all I have left of my daughter. I want to spend some time with him.
J.R.: Yeah, well, you're not even going get two minutes to say good-bye.
David: No, no -- see, I want a lot more than just a few minutes, which is why I'm suing for full custody.
J.R.: You son of a --
David: Oh, you still have that temper, huh, Junior? One of the reason why a judge is going to hand Little Adam over to me.
Adam: That -- no, that's never going to happen.
David: I have an airtight case. I mean, after all, you two did kill the boy's mother.
J.R.: Oh, go ahead, you say it one more time.
David: Why so sensitive, Junior? It's not like you hadn't tried to kill Babe before.
Adam: Babe was the victim of a natural disaster.
David: Because you brought her back to town on a bogus lawsuit. And of course, when Daddy says jump --
J.R.: Shut your mouth.
David: After all these years, you're still under Adam's thumb? How pathetic is that?
J.R.: Get out.
David: See, the way I see it, the Chandlers are a danger to children. I'm going to prove that and get what's mine.
Adam: Why don't you leave now, before I have you removed permanently?
David: Tell my grandson I'll be seeing him soon.
Krystal: What the hell is he still doing here?
Ryan: What the hell were you thinking coming here?
Aidan: I was trying to help save Emma, that's it.
Ryan: And by coming here, you may have accomplished the exact opposite of that.
Annie: Look, Ryan, take it easy.
Ryan: No, no, you tapped the phones. You would have heard the kidnapper's instructions. Am I right? Which was for Annie and I to come here alone.
Aidan: I know what I'm doing.
Ryan: Last time -- we don't want your help.
Aidan: Here's the plan. We tell the kidnapper we have the cash, and then we do a fake drop.
Ryan: This is my family. It's my family. You stay the hell out of it.
Aidan: Keep my distance, respect your boundaries -- is that what you're saying?
Ryan: I am not taking chances with my daughter's life, Aidan.
Aidan: Get your bloody hands off of me.
Annie: Emma is out there, scared and alone. We have to help her.
Ryan: I'm going to get the money, ok? I'm going to do whatever I have to do. Whatever it is, whatever they want, I will do it to get Emma back alive and well, ok?
Bianca: The baby's with the pediatrician. I thought since we were here, we might as well get her checked out.
Zach: I shouldn't have left her. She needs me.
Bianca: So do your boys. She knows that.
Zach: If I stayed at the beach house -- if I stayed here --
Bianca: Her heart didn't stop because you left. And the tornado was coming no matter what.
Zach: What if her body can't handle another operation? What if -- I don't know what to do. I promised her we wouldn't be here anymore. I mean the hospital, with doctors and --
Bianca: This is not your fault.
Zach: You know what my job is? My job is to protect my family. And I failed her. And now she could die, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Annie: I have to see Emma. I have to know that she's ok.
Ryan: The video was from just a few minutes ago.
Annie: So what? So what, Ryan? This person could be a lunatic. He could do anything at any time.
Ryan: You've got to try to stay calm, ok, Annie? Just try and stay calm.
Annie: How? How, Ryan? We have no idea what this person is capable of.
Ryan: All we have to do is we have to follow the instructions, Annie. That's all we've got to do, ok?
Annie: What if we mess it up? What if we mess it up and then -- I can't lose her, Ryan. She's my baby. I can't --
Annie: I can't lose another baby.
Ryan: Where's your inhaler? Where is it?
[Annie struggles to breathe]
Ryan: Just breathe, ok? Just use it and breathe. You'll be ok. Go ahead. There you go. Ok. Ok. Is that better?
Annie: I just want to get my baby back.
Ryan: We need to be a team, remember?
Annie: Ok. Ok. A team.
Zach: Thank you. That was Greenlee. I told her there's no change.
Bianca: That's good.
Zach: That's good?
Bianca: Yeah, that's good. No change means nothing to get worked up over.
Zach: Yeah. I like your bedside manner.
Bianca: I wish I were a doctor. Maybe I could help my sister.
Zach: You are helping your sister. She knows you're here. She can feel you.
Bianca: She knows you're here, too.
Zach: I don't think that makes a lot of difference.
Bianca: Why would you say that?
Zach: I told you before, we're fighting, you know? For months, just -- I don't know why. It's just this -- this town was getting to us. And at the beach house, I thought things were getting better, you know? But I could have handled things better. I'm -- I guess I always thought that she was happy and secure and --
Bianca: No one has ever loved my sister the way you do.
Zach: Yeah. And we're guessing that she's aware of that, because I didn't really get to tell her that. Now what if I don't get to tell her again?
Bianca: She knows. She knows. Hey, we talked at the beach house before the tornado hit, and she said that that time you guys had there made her very happy. She knows you love her. I promise you, she knows.
Adam: That's it, I'm going to fire my entire security team.
Krystal: Relax, Adam. I just came here to check on Little A. What? Did David do something to Little A?
J.R.: He wants custody of my son.
Krystal: What? That little boy just lost his mama and now that snake wants to steal him?
Adam: He's a delusional fool. But just to be safe, I'm going to get a restraining order.
Krystal: Oh, like that's going to do any good. David puts his demented mind -- he gets it set on something, you think a little piece of paper is going to stop him?
Adam: If a piece of paper won't do it, a judge will. And that lunatic has a rap sheet a mile long. They'll laugh him right out of court.
Krystal: How many of those crimes has David actually been convicted of? And let's talk about J.R.'s rap sheet, huh?
J.R.: I am the boy's father.
Krystal: You also have a history of violence and drug abuse. Not to mention, J.R., you're an alcoholic.
Adam: He's been sober for months.
Krystal: I know that. I know that. But David can make the Virgin Mother look like a unfit parent. Can you imagine the picture that he's going to paint of J.R.?
Adam: Everyone has a price.
Krystal: David has plenty of money.
Adam: Fine, you've just shot down all our ideas. You have one better?
Krystal: Actually, I do.
Greenlee: Oh, God, I thought you might be Zach.
Aidan: He's at the hospital, isn't he?
Greenlee: Yeah, I would be, too, but I got banned by the, uh, wicked witch of Pine Valley.
Aidan: How's Kendall?
Greenlee: The cardiac surgeon still isn't there yet. Her heart stopped.
Aidan: Is she ok?
Greenlee: She has to have surgery right away, or -- no, I won't even go there. What's wrong? What's up?
Greenlee: Please don't tell me --
Aidan: No, she's alive, but the kidnapper's not fooling around.
Greenlee: Oh, God.
Aidan: Annie and Ryan got a call to go to a motel room. There was a laptop with a live video of Emma. I mean, she looked fine, but --
Greenlee: So you were there? I'm really glad that you're helping them.
Aidan: Well, there's a little girl that's missing.
Greenlee: Yeah, I know, but --
Aidan: She's innocent. Emma's innocent. I mean, she's done nothing wrong.
Greenlee: Thank you.
Aidan: I haven't done anything. Ryan won't let me help.
Greenlee: What do you mean?
Aidan: He thinks he can handle all this on his own.
Greenlee: Well, that's insane. You have so much training. You're a detective.
Aidan: And Ryan is a superhero. Or at least he thinks he is. And every second that goes by, that little girl's life is more at risk.
Greenlee: What can we do?
Aidan: Put our differences aside and help that little girl. But Ryan is just too damn stubborn.
Ryan: Ten days? Are you kidding me?
Annie: No, tell him we need it right now.
Ryan: How much can you free up right now? What? That's it?
Annie: What? What did he say? What?
Ryan: He said most of money is tied up and all I can free up right now is $2 million.
Annie: No, but that's not enough.
Ryan: I know it's not enough, ok? I need to think.
Annie: Ok, I have some savings or our 401k.
Ryan: I said I need to think! Let me think, please. I'm sorry, it's just I --
Annie: I know. It's ok.
Ryan: There's a solution, ok? We just really need to focus, ok?
Annie: Ok. What if, um -- what if we asked Zach or Erica? What if we ask them for a loan?
Ryan: And go to them in the middle of Kendall being in a coma? I don't think so.
Annie: Well, look, what else are we supposed to do, Ryan? Call up the kidnapper and tell him we don't have the cash? What happens then? What happens then to our little girl?
J.R.: You really need to upgrade these locks.
Adam: And put cameras in these tunnels.
Krystal: There's only one way to fight David.
J.R.: I'm going to put an undercover car outside Little Adam's preschool.
Adam: Consider it done.
Krystal: This is not the answer.
Adam: Well, what's your big idea? Have Opal cast a spell on him?
Krystal: We don't need anybody else. Just us.
J.R.: All right, you know, you're dealing with a lot right now. Why don't you let us handle Dave Hayward?
Krystal: The last thing I promised Babe was that I was going to take care of her son.
Adam: Well, nobody's stopping you.
Krystal: You are, by not listening to me!
Adam: Maybe we would listen to you if you said something that made sense!
J.R.: Ok, don't yell at her.
Krystal: All right, you know what? Us fighting like this is exactly what David wants. We look unstable, we look dysfunctional, and we're just proving his case for him.
Adam: All right, what is your suggestion?
Krystal: No matter what we feel about each other, we love Little A, right?
Krystal: We've got to use that love to protect him from David.
Adam: Maybe we should ply him with flowers and candy.
J.R.: We'll run if we have to. We'll sneak out in the middle of the night.
Krystal: Look over our shoulder for the rest our lives? No. No, David is the one that has to leave.
Adam: Well, I'm still waiting for one actual idea.
Krystal: Look, when David blew out of Pine Valley, he tried to pick us off, one by one. And we were vulnerable because we were so divided. This time around, we stick together. If we're strong and if we're united, David doesn't stand a chance.
J.R.: No, I don't know.
Krystal: Oh, come on, J.R. It's not forever, all right? We can do this.
Adam: Can we?
Krystal: We have to. When I look at Little A, I see Babe. Her spirit is living on inside that little boy, and I will be damned if I let David Hayward take it from him.
David: I cannot believe how much he has grown up. You've done a wonderful job raising him, Babe. And I intend to pick up exactly where you left off. I'm going to raise Little Adam right, far away from this place. And I'm going to give him a real name of his own. And I'm going to tell him all about his beautiful mother. I just wish -- I wish I had memories of when you were his age to tell him. I wish I could tell him about all the vacations and Christmases we spent together, but I can't. I can't because Krystal never tracked me down to tell me that you existed. Babe, I am so sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. But I am going to be there for Little Adam, I swear to you. And we are going to have every holiday, every vacation that you and I never shared. You have been surrounded your whole life by horrible, selfish people. I wanted to save you, Babe, but I was too late. Little Adam is my chance to make it up to you. And I am not going to let you down.
[Erica walks in]
David: What do you want?
Erica: I want you to save my daughter's life. Kendall needs your help.
David: Why am I supposed to care?
Erica: There's a problem with her heart. She needs surgery right away.
David: Boy, you haven't changed at all, have you, Erica? I'm having a private moment, mourning for my daughter, and you barge in asking for a favor.
Erica: David, she's barely hanging on.
David: So you want me to save your daughter? Who was there to save mine?
Erica: I am so very sorry about Babe.
David: Oh, please. No, you're not. You hated Babe. So as far as I'm concerned, you can find help for Kendall elsewhere.
Erica: David, how can you say that? You're a doctor. And you know what it's like to have a sick child. I remember -- you -- you operated on your little girl Leora's heart before she was even born.
David: Yeah, and then that quack, Joe Martin, killed her.
Erica: So you have no compassion as a father? None at all?
David: In case you haven't noticed, I'm not a father anymore.
Erica: Babe is gone, and that is tragic. You can't do anything to bring her back. But Kendall still has a chance, David. Please, if you will help her.
David: Why should I want to do that?
Erica: Because you are a brilliant surgeon, and no one has the skills you have.
David: Flattery's not going to work, Erica.
Erica: Please, David. Look, if you want me to beg -- ok, I am begging. Please. Or maybe there's something else I can do.
David: Why, Erica, what are you suggesting? Maybe a night alone in our country inn for old time's sake, huh?
Erica: You want something, and I can get it for you.
Krystal: What do you think, huh?
J.R.: Whatever. You choose.
Krystal: Don't you want the right flowers for Babe's service?
J.R.: What difference does it make?
Krystal: Well, she should be happy.
J.R.: Happy? She's dead. I'm sorry, we just -- we were just getting ready to start a whole new life. Now we're burying her.
Krystal: Let's just get through this, ok? We'll do the best we can.
J.R.: I have to check on Little A.
Adam: Would you like a drink?
Adam: I'm sorry I snapped at you earlier. No parent should have to go through this. Babe was one of a kind. She -- she lived her life with gusto. She was a wonderful mother.
Krystal: You never said one nice thing about Babe when she was living. And now that she's gone, you're her biggest fan?
Adam: I meant what I just said. I -- I -- I've -- I'm trying to be supportive. Where are you going?
Krystal: You're a lousy liar.
Kendall: So, Zach and I were on the phone, and then the phone went dead. And now I can't reach him.
Bianca: But that's -- that's -- we'll try him again in a few minutes.
Kendall: No, no, Bianca, you don't understand. Before Zach left, we were having a conversation, and he said that he wanted more kids, and I told him I wasn't ready.
Kendall: So I think that Zach and I might be in trouble.
Bianca: What do you mean?
Kendall: Our marriage. Before tonight, I wasn't sure that we'd survive.
Bianca: Zach loves you so much. You're going to make it.
Ryan: Annie --
Annie: You have to stop being so proud and worried about everyone else, Ryan. I'll call Zach and Erica --
Ryan: No, you won't.
Annie: Then what the hell are we supposed to do?
[Knock on door]
Greenlee: Aidan told me about the ransom video.
Annie: And you just came rushing over.
Greenlee: Did the kidnapper contact you again?
Ryan: No, not yet.
Greenlee: Is there anything I can do?
Ryan: Um, thank you, but I think -- I think we have it under control.
Annie: No. No, we absolutely do not have it under control.
Annie: We have to ask.
Ryan: No. Don't.
Greenlee: Whatever it is --
Annie: Do you have $8 million dollars?
Ryan: We have it under control.
Greenlee: He wants 8 --
Annie: He wants 10, but we only have two, and Ryan's money is tied up, so -- will you give us the cash or not?
Greenlee: Absolutely. Yes, I'm coming for the money now. Ok, thanks. I hope this brings Emma back. What's that?
Ryan: You can't carry $8 million in your purse.
Annie: What? Where are you going?
Ryan: I'm going to the bank with Greenlee.
Greenlee: You don't have to do that.
Ryan: I don't want you walking around with $8 million cash by yourself.
Annie: But -- what if -- what if the kidnapper calls again?
Ryan: Well, then, you tell him that we have the money, Annie.
Annie: But what if he wants to change the plan or something?
Ryan: Hey, we're a team, remember? I need you to stay here, stay calm, and we'll be right back, ok?
Krystal: Hi. Could you point me in the direction of Opal's room? I promised her a little visit.
Joe: Yes, I just came from there, and she'll be delighted to see you.
Krystal: Oh, good.
Joe: How are you?
Krystal: I'm still standing.
Joe: Well, anything you need, you let me know, ok? Her room is right down there to the right. You'll see her.
Joe: Ok, bye.
Krystal: You said you were leaving town.
David: Something came up.
Krystal: Yeah, I know all about your ridiculous threat to take Little Adam.
David: It's not a threat. It's reality. We'll send you a postcard.
Krystal: No, no, no, no. You are not taking my grandbaby anywhere.
David: Oh, really? And who's going to stop me? You? Adam? I was in those tunnels for weeks. The moron never had a clue.
Krystal: Yeah, well, we're onto you now.
David: And I'm onto you, Krystal. You're really good at keeping kids from their fathers. First Babe, then Charlotte -- Jenny -- whatever her name is.
Krystal: Don't you dare even speak about Jenny.
David: It's too late to hide Little Adam now. He belongs to me. Soon it'll be official.
Krystal: Over my dead body.
David: Don't tempt me.
Krystal: You can't win, David. So why don't you just cut your losses and leave?
David: My losses, hmm. You mean what you took from me?
Krystal: Oh, come on. You are nobody's victim.
David: Babe was my second chance at being a father, and I never got it because of you. You owe me, Krystal. This whole damn town owes me.
Krystal: This whole damn town can't stand you. So unless you want your head on a stake --
David: You were always the feisty one, weren't you? Too bad you settled for that loser, Martin.
Krystal: I didn't settle.
David: Oh, come on. Let's be honest here. It must be tough being his consolation prize. Are you telling me that never, not once in the heat of the moment, he called you "Dixie"? Oh, all that passion. Oh, look at this. A woman like you has needs, Krystal, Tad can't possibly fill. But me, on the other hand --
Krystal: I cannot stand you.
David: Why don't we pick this up later, all right? Right now, I have a life to save.
Zach: You're sure about this surgeon?
Joe: He has my full confidence.
Bianca: When will he be here?
Joe: Any minute.
David: You can send him home. The master has arrived.
Joe: What are you doing back in my hospital?
Erica: David has agreed to do Kendall's surgery.
Bianca: I don't understand.
Erica: I'll explain everything to you after we get them into the operating room.
Joe: We'll do no such thing.
Erica: Joe, don't fight me on this.
Joe: His medical license should have been revoked permanently.
David: This coming from the baby killer. I'm good to go. That is, of course, if Mr. Slater will give the green light.
Zach: What the hell is going on here?
Erica: We wanted the best for Kendall. David is the best.
Bianca: She's right. I know he's done unforgivable things, but I've seen him perform miracles on his patients.
Erica: Look, we're wasting time.
David: So, should I scrub in?
Joe: Are you sure?
Joe: I'll notify the O.R.
Zach: So we're putting Kendall's life in Hayward's hands.
Erica: As I said, David is the best.
Bianca: Thank you for doing this.
David: Your mother can be very persuasive.
Bianca: I'm sorry about Babe. I know how much you loved her.
David: Thank you.
Zach: David. You didn't think I was going to let you cut into my wife that easily, did you?
David: I'm about to get closer to your wife's heart than you have ever been in your entire life. Do you really think this is a good time to rattle me?
Zach: You can't be rattled.
David: Was that a compliment?
Zach: It's a warning, David.
David: Ok. Now I get what this is. This is the famous Zach Slater don't-mess-with-his-woman speech, right? Yeah, I seem to have heard it several times before. Uh, Maria Grey, Dixie -- and hey, I saved both of their lives, too. I must be pretty impressive.
Zach: If anything happens to my wife in that operating room, I'm --
David: Look, look. If you don't trust me, why don't you put it back in the hands of the second-stringer Joe was throwing on you, ok? Or better yet, why don't you give it back to Jake Martin? He -- hey, he can try and top his last botched-up performance by operating in the dark and blindfolded. He's so inept, it might even help.
Zach: David, you don't want to push me right now.
David: I don't want to push you? I'm the one doing the enormous favor here. You just wrinkled my new shirt.
Zach: Erica and Bianca both think that you're a better doctor than you are a man, so --
David: Well, that's interesting. I don't really know what criteria they're using to judge my manhood. Although Erica did have first-hand knowledge.
Zach: Enough. Are you going to help my wife or not?
David: I was just about to do that when you stopped me. F.Y.I, we're wasting precious time here. So do you want your wife's heart to go pitter-patter or not? Oh, by the way, when Kendall comes out of this alive, you're going to owe me. Both of you.
Greenlee: Should we wake her up?
Ryan: No, no. Let her sleep. There's nothing we can do until the kidnapper calls back, so --
Ryan: Why does this keep happening? One crisis right after another.
Greenlee: I know -- the kidnapping, the tornado, Babe, Kendall.
Ryan: I just want peace, you know? Peace for the kids, for everybody in Pine Valley. For us.
J.R.: Little Adam's done with lunch, so, uh, we're headed over to Tad's.
Adam: Well, um, why do you -- why do you have to do that? Your rooms are made up, and, uh, Lucretia can make us a nice warm supper.
J.R.: We don't live here anymore.
Adam: I see.
J.R.: Look, I'm going to go along with Krystal's plan. We'll stick together until Hayward's out of the picture, but then we're gone.
Adam: What about forgiveness?
J.R.: I forgave. I don't forget. Little Adam's better off without either of his grandfathers.
Krystal: Is it true you asked David to do Kendall's surgery?
Erica: Exactly what business is that of yours?
Krystal: I just lost my daughter. I don't want you losing yours.
Erica: I'm very sorry for what you're going through, Krystal. But David has made a very generous offer, and we are going to take him up on that.
Krystal: David doesn't do anything for nothing. What did you promise him?
Erica: You take care of your family, Krystal. I'll take care of mine.
Zach: How is she?
Bianca: She's great. She's just a little fussy.
Zach: Come here. Oh, my goodness. Oh, there you are. Hi. There you go.
Bianca: Kendall will be fine, you know. Her heart's strong because you're in there.
Zach: I just want her to come home, that's all.
Bianca: Look at you. Again, you have the magic touch.
Zach: Little angel, huh? Hey.
Bianca: Maybe she should have an angelic name.
Zach: Gabrielle. How about that?
Bianca: It's good. Like Gabriel, God's special messenger. Here to tell us that everything's going to be ok.
David: Kendall. Now who would have thought that I would have your life hanging in my hands?
