Carmen: Well, one thing about this place, there's not too much to pack when you check out.
Erica: So happy for you, Carmen.
Carmen: I can't believe I'm actually leaving this place. And it's all because of you.
Erica: That's what friends are for.
Carmen: Thank God for you, Erica Kane. I am going to miss you so much.
Jake: Hey, what have you got there, 240?
Aidan: 100, but thanks for noticing.
Jake: Hmm, want me to spot you?
Aidan: No, thanks.
Jake: Don't want you to hurt yourself
Aidan: I'm fine, Jake.
Jake: All right, maybe I can work in with you.
Aidan: Suit yourself. I'll warn you though, I'm a bit pissed off.
Jake: Really? Anybody in particular?
Aidan: Yeah, Richie freaking Novak.
Ryan: Hey, Richie is not going to get away with anything, all right? Just because he got bail it -- he will not escape the charges, Annie, he won't.
Richie: You come up with the bail money, and I'll disappear forever, how does that sound?
Richie: Hold it, sis. I still need you to get me out of here, and you're going to help me. How does it feel to know that you're the criminal? That sent an innocent man, your own brother, to prison? To send him to hell for no reason. Answer me!
Ryan: What is it? Talk to me, ok? I can help you.
[Knock at door]
Richie: You know, it's about time. Cutting it close, aren't you, sis?
Man: Are you Richie Novak?
Man: Here you go.
Richie: Awesome. Hmm, "Enjoy your freedom while it lasts. -- Z."
Zach: Do you remember the one-way trip we talked about? Yeah, well, it's going to happen tonight.
Annie: It's my fault Richie's out on bail.
Ryan: You had nothing to do with that.
Annie: They gave him bail because he had proof that I lied on the stand the last time they sent him to prison, Ryan.
Ryan: You told me that you did what you had to do, Annie, and I trust that. You had him off the streets for seven years.
Annie: Yeah, and now where is he? Back on the streets because of me.
Ryan: Not for long.
Annie: You said it yourself, Ryan, he is too good at -- at getting away with things. I mean, we have zero proof about what he did to Greenlee and Zach. We know that, but they don't have proof about it. And what about all the J.R. stuff? What do they have except for a prostitute's testimony?
Ryan: What are you talking about? They have DNA evidence. They have J.R.'s DNA inside Richie's body.
Annie: I know, and they also have J.R.'s really bad reputation. I know that Richie can spin this so that he's somehow the victim. Ryan, he's going to get away with this again. I have a feeling. I know he's going to get away with this.
[Cell phone rings]
Annie: Oh, it's -- it's Emma. I told her to call me when she got back from the movies with Kathy. Hi, sweetie, how was -- how was your time with Kathy?
Richie: Where the hell are you?
Annie: Oh, good, good, I'm so glad. I am just sitting here with your daddy.
Richie: Get rid of him and get the hell over here.
Annie: I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do that, honey.
Richie: Well, you better find a way, pumpkin, otherwise Daddy's going to have a big surprise tonight. Not only is he going to find out that you paid my bail, but that his baby makers are still fully functional.
Annie: Ok, I'll do my best.
Richie: Your best is helping me escape tonight. So don't take too long.
Annie: I won't. Ok, your daddy sends his love.
Ryan: Let me say goodnight to her.
Richie: Give him an extra special kiss for Daddy for me.
Annie: Well, Emma -- Emma, hold on -- oh, oh, she hung up. You know it sounded like they were having so much fun, you know, playing with their dolls, and you know, girls' sleepovers. Well, um, I guess the best thing I should probably do right now is go back to Fusion, because I know the ladies are pulling an all-nighter there. You know, they're revamping that whole PR campaign, and I know Greenlee and Kendall, knowing them, are probably wondering where I am, so --
Ryan: Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on a second. Greenlee and Kendall know exactly what you went through today. They will understand. If you stay home which is what you're going to do, I'm going to run out, get a little take out, maybe get a bottle of wine, and you and I we'll just forget everything.
Annie: That -- that --
Ryan: Doctor's orders.
Ryan: I won't be long.
Erica: There, look out, world, here comes Carmen Morales.
Carmen: Wow, perfect, thank you.
Erica: You're welcome.
Carmen: I am leaving this place. Hopefully, never come back.
Erica: Not hopefully, definitely. My bet, they're going to drop those charges against you the first day of the retrial. Hey, no more doubts.
Carmen: I just don't want to disappoint you. What if Adam Chandler doesn't like me? What if I can't do the job he expects me to do?
Erica: Well, of course, you're going to be able to do it. You're going to be great. Carmen, this is your new beginning. I want you to just grab onto it with both hands and embrace it and make yourself the wonderful life that you have dreamed of. I mean, ok, as for Adam, he's probably going to growl a time or two, but you know what? I know he will be fair to you, because he must have some redeeming qualities, or I wouldn't have married him.
Carmen: Wait a minute. You were married to him? He's an ex?
Erica: Oh, he's a double-ex, actually. You didn't know that?
Carmen: There have been a few, Superstar. I can't remember them all.
Erica: Well, I do. Because I do.
Carmen: Especially Jackson.
Erica: Yeah, you know what? Adam -- I am sure that you are going to figure out very quickly how to handle Adam.
Carmen: But he's a powerful, like, gazillionaire. How am I ever going to handle him?
Erica: You just be yourself. I just know that you are very quickly going to let him know that he can't push you around. Listen to me, Jack's going to be here any minute to pick you up. You better put on your civvies. You're going free.
Jake: I heard about Novak getting out on bail.
Aidan: You know what he did? He represents himself, and he gets off. And now he's back on the streets of Pine Valley.
Jake: Don't worry, it won't last long. How's Greenlee taking it?
Aidan: We don't talk. In fact, she won't talk to me.
Jake: Well, that won't last long either, you know?
Aidan: What, have you got a crystal ball in your pants, or something?
Jake: You know, she talks to me.
Aidan: Well, well, that's really interesting.
Jake: Yes, it is. This whole town is like six degrees of separation. You know? Well, anyway, I talk to her, she talks to me, and, of course, she's pissed off about the Kendall thing. Who wouldn't be? But you know what? She'll get over it.
Aidan: Says her new best friend.
Jake: Uh, roommate. She asked me to move in, and I agreed.
Krystal: You know we don't get Colby babysitting for us every night. We finally got some alone time here, and you are sorting out those photographs.
Tad: I know, honey, I know, I promise you just one more second, ok?
Krystal: You're really having fun with that.
Tad: Oh, man, digital photography's the bomb. It's amazing. It's up there with video games and sportscasts in HD. There are many reasons I'm happy that I'm alive in this century.
Krystal: How many pictures do you have on that thing?
Tad: Not enough. Look at this one.
Krystal: How cute. Oh, what an angel.
Tad: Or better yet, watch this. Here, I think -- where is it? Here, this one. I think this one will work much better.
Krystal: Oh, oh, I love it.
Krystal: Work for what?
Tad: Never say never, darling. I'm about to undertake something I vowed I would never do. Pictures starring -- Christmas cards starring the kids. Yeah? All I got to do is get the perfect candid shot. Or better yet, you know, I could stage it. Could set them up there on the couch. Dress them up like elves with red and green. Get a couple of dogs like a chihuahua and a great dane. Put the antlers on them, with the bell, feliz navidad, huh?
Krystal: Please --
Tad: See what I did there?
Krystal: Feliz navidad, yeah, yeah. Tad, Tad, it's June.
Tad: Yeah, I know. I'm just planning ahead. I'm going to take pictures all the way up to December. Then all I've got to do is weed out the good ones as I go along. Or better yet, you know what I could do? I could write us up on of those newsletters you send out to your friends and family, stuff it in there. You know, about the blessings for 2008? Dear friends, got shot, almost died, came back, found my daughter. Merry Christmas, good stuff, Martin.
Krystal: You really are happy, aren't you?
Tad: Happier than I've been in a long time. Why not? I've finally got both my girls under one roof, and I got an amazing woman as a wife in the bargain. Life doesn't get this good very often.
Krystal: I'm glad.
Tad: Are you worried about something?
Tad: Yeah, you are.
Krystal: No, no, no, no, I'm fine.
Krystal: Ok, umm, yeah, I'm a little worried about Babe.
Tad: And Richie Novak?
Krystal: I mean, she got sucked into his whole mess. She really fell for his act. She finally wised up. She got enough evidence to put him away, and then they let the guy out on bail.
Tad: Yeah, that's true, but he's got one of those monitor anklets on. They can tell where he is at all times. You don't have to worry about Richie, he's not going anywhere.
Zach: No, what I need from you is to have the Cambias jet ready. That's right, and a pilot standing by. Uh-huh, and I'll call you when I get there. Right, you can do that. I don't care what you file for flight plan, because we're going to change it when we take off. Thank you.
[Knock at door]
Ryan: I am glad you're still here.
Zach: How can I help you?
Ryan: I need to know what you intend to do about Richie Novak.
Zach: What I intend to do?
Ryan: I want to make sure we're not working at cross purposes, Zach, because if Richie skates on these charges I intend to kill him.
TV Reporter: There were audible gasps in the courtroom when Judge Charles Drynan agreed to the petition for bail. Novak, representing himself --
[Knock at door]
TV Reporter: Surprised the court with documented proof that his previous --
Richie: Just in time. TV
Reporter: Seven years spent behind bars was all a miscarriage of justice --
Richie: Hey, look, sis, I'm famous.
TV Reporter: Based on false testimony from his own sister, Annie Lavery of Pine Valley. Novak is currently out on bail awaiting trial, but he is wearing a monitoring device at all times. In other news, Erica Kane's one-woman crusade...
Annie: Let's just get this over with, ok?
Zach: All right. Ryan Lavery, serious about that?
Ryan: I should have gotten rid of him when I had the chance.
Zach: Getting rid of somebody and killing somebody is a different thing.
Ryan: Yeah, I'm very aware of the differences, Zach.
Zach: Oh, speaking of differences, I thought the major difference between you and me is that there are some things you just won't do. You have limits. You know, things you won't do under any circumstances.
Ryan: We're talking about life and death here. He is a threat, he is a menace, he tortured Annie, he tried to kill you and Greenlee, and he keeps getting away with it. So, yes, I am on board. What is the plan?
Zach: Richie Novak's not going to make it to his trial.
Richie: I'm a celebrity. Isn't it a trip? I mean, I should have been a lawyer, sis. This entire goofy town is in awe of my lawyering abilities.
Annie: You should have been a lot of things, Richie.
Richie: Yeah, well, come on, lighten up, celebrate with me.
Annie: There's nothing to celebrate. Richie, I did everything you asked, ok? I gave you the money that you needed for bail.
Richie: You did a lot more than that. I mean, you went above and beyond, sis. You were fantastic on that stand today. It was just perfect. Just enough amount of shame and a hint of anger. It must have been really hard to out yourself as a liar like that, huh?
Annie: You could have warned me that you were going to do that.
Richie: If I warned you that I had proof that you lied eight years ago, would you have given that same humiliated reaction? I don't think so. The judge ate it up.
Annie: Yeah, well, the judge is going to regret his decision when you jump bail.
Richie: Eight years, still no apology.
Annie: I want it finished between us, ok? Once and for all, Richie.
Richie: This breaks my heart, sis, knowing I'm not going to see you again.
Annie: Just stop it, please. Please stop, just do what you have to do.
Richie: Ok, look, I've got an idea. All right, I've got an idea and just hear me out before you say no. I want you to come with me.
Richie: Come on, come with me. You and I together again, it could be like old times. You know, I would be the one coming up with all the wild ideas. You would keep my feet on the ground. We would be unstoppable. It would be fun.
Annie: You really are crazy if you actually believe that.
Richie: No, Annie, you're the one who's crazy if you think you have a future with Lavery.
Annie: I do have a future with Ryan if you keep your part of the deal.
Richie: It doesn't matter whether I'm here or not. That self-righteous SOB is guaranteed to find you out.
Ryan: So, you do intend to do something about it? Well, I think --
Zach: I didn't say that. I said that Richie Novak was not going to make it to his trial. That's what I said. He's going to go and make a run for it.
Ryan: And how do you know that?
Zach: Well, I got to spend a little bit of time with him and, you know, when you push a man to his physical limit, you figure out what he will or will not do and I think he's going to vanish.
Ryan: So, then why didn't you take care of him when you had the chance, Zach? I mean, after what he did to you, I would have thought you already had something planned for him.
Ryan: You've got more in store for him. I know you do. Whatever it is, I just want him out of our lives, that's all.
Zach: Mm-hmm, so do I, and that's why I need your help.
Aidan: So, when did this happen?
Aidan: You and Greenlee.
Jake: Oh, me and Greenlee, that's like five years ago. Oh, you mean the roommate thing. That just happened because, you know, I didn't have a place to live, and she offered me -- you know what? I'm going to tell her no. You know, if you don't like it, I can say no.
Aidan: So, I guess you came here to get my blessing, is that it?
Jake: No, I mean yeah. I mean, you know, sort of.
Aidan: Am I getting this right, Jake? I saved your life and then you move in with my ex-fiancée, who just happens to be your ex-girlfriend, and you're telling me nothing's going to happen? Is that it? I'm supposed to believe that crap, am I? What do you take me for? A stupid idiot?
Jake: No, no, I don't think you're stupid. I think that you are angry, and I think that you want to hit something, or someone. You know what? You want to hit me? Hit me. Go ahead, hit me. Give me your best, your best shot. Go ahead, crack me. Give me a crack.
Tad: Can't help but love them.
Krystal: Thank you.
Tad: You know what? I've been thinking. Thank you very much, I appreciate it. Let's scratch Christmas cards. Let's go out and buy ourselves a brand new video camera. We could do like a whole big, you know, holiday DVD thing, huh? It'd be great. It's perfect, TM productions, costumes, sets, the whole works. We can dress the house up like the North Pole. You'd be Mrs. Claus. Nice little outfit, black fishnets, huh, huh? I'd be the head elf who has a thing for the boss' wife. Hire Stuart as Santa Claus, Adam as the Grinch.
Krystal: Earth to Tad, earth to Tad, come on now, what dimension did you jump into this morning?
Tad: Give me a kiss, and I'm going to call it the pow of bliss.
[Cell phone rings]
Tad: The house.
Tad: Hey, darling. No, no, Colby, hang on, hang on, just slow down, what happened? You're sure? Ok, yeah, we'll be right there. We'll be right there. We've got to go.
Krystal: What, what?
Tad: Kathy's missing.
Tad: Kathy is missing.
Erica: Hey, we have to stop meeting like this.
Jack: Yeah, well I'm counting the days.
Jack: So, I guess, I guess Carmen's pretty excited, huh?
Erica: Yes, she is. She's also very nervous, Jack, so could you do everything you can to pump up her confidence on the way over to Adam's?
Jack: You know I will. Well, here she is. [Whistles] You look like you just left the runway to me.
Carmen: Thanks to Erica. She picked this out for me when we were on the run. And did my makeup just now. And landed me a job, and gave me a whole new take on life, and has been the best friend I've ever had. Other than that, she's been pretty useless. I just wish you had been able to get her out of here, too.
Jack: Yeah, that makes three of us, but believe me, I'm still trying.
Erica: No, don't worry about me. I'm going to be just fine.
Jack: Carmen, I think we should get going.
Carmen: I just don't want to leave you behind like this.
Erica: Well, you have to, honey, because you have the whole, wonderful, new beginning waiting for you out there.
Carmen: I don't know how wonderful it's going to be knowing that you're still in here.
Erica: It'll just be for a little while, that's all. Now, go, go on.
Carmen: No, it isn't fair. I'm not going, not without you.
Zach: After what Richie did to you and your family, to Greenlee, me, and my family, and after the system has failed us over and over again, I do think it's time that we do something about it.
Zach: Tonight. I'm sorry, did you have plans, or...
Ryan: Nothing I can't change.
Zach: Good. Because Richie Novak's going on a flight tonight.
Annie: No, Ryan is not going to find out. We are going to be happy again. I am going to get pregnant and have his baby, and you are going to do what you said you would do, Richie, or so help me God, I will --
Richie: You're going to what? What are you going to do? Are you going to call the cops and tell them that I'm planning on making a run for it? Go on, sis, you just admitted to perjury in open court today. You know what? You should call Ryan. Oh, that would really mess things up for you. So, I guess you're just out of luck.
Annie: Please, Richie, what we have planned is already bad enough, ok don't torture me. I have done everything that you wanted. Look, and here is the money that you asked for. Ok, I have held my part of the bargain, now you have to hold yours.
Richie: Ok, I guess love is blind, deaf, dumb, and stupid. You know I am going to miss you, right? Thanks for the traveling cash.
Annie: And you won't forget what else you have to do?
Richie: Greenlee, out of your life.
Annie: She's working at Fusion tonight.
Richie: Yes, yes, yes, I'll take care of her for you. Cross my heart and hope to die.
Richie: Now turn around.
Annie: Please don't kill me.
Richie: Sis, I wouldn't dream of it, but I have to make it convincing.
Erica: Now you listen to me. I am going to be fine. You have a fantastic opportunity, Carmen. You have a chance to build that life you always dreamed of.
Carmen: But, Superstar, I --
Erica: No buts about it. You have to do this, Carmen, for yourself and for all the other women in here who dream of building a better life and for all the other women who, just like you, were wrongly convicted and never should have been in here. I want you to go out there. I want you to show them that you can start over. I want you to go out there I want you to just grab life by the handful. And I want you to just know that you're making a whole, big life for yourself. And by the time I join you, I expect you to be buying me dinner, courtesy of your new expense account, ok? And telling me all about your promotion. Have you got it?
Carmen: A dinner's hardly going to pay for everything you've done for me.
Erica: You being happy, that's going to be my thanks. And please just continue to be my really good friend, ok?
Guard: Morales, time to process you out of here.
Carmen: I love you.
Erica: I love you, too.
Colby: I'm here.
Tad: What happened? When was the last place you saw her?
Colby: I -- she'd been kind of quiet. I put Emma and Jenny to bed, but Kathy wanted to wait up for you. She got upset when I insisted, so I let her leave the light on.
Tad: How could you lose her? How could you -- how could you let something like this happen?
Colby: I am so sorry. I feel awful.
Krystal: We'll find her. We'll find her.
Tad: Kathy. Kathy!
Krystal: It's going to be ok. I know she's going to turn up around here somewhere. She will.
Tad: All right. Let's just check outside, ok? You, get on the phone to the police. Kathy. Kathy.
Jake: Bare fists, all right. You want some gloves? Does anybody have boxing gloves? I'll get you some gloves and, you know, it won't hurt me as much.
Aidan: I'm not going to hit you, Jake.
Jake: Oh, thank you. My jaw and the rest of my face thanks you.
Aidan: I'm just mad at myself, all right? Because I want to be there for Greenlee, and I can't. It's my fault anyway. I'm the one that caused this mess.
Jake: Well, I, you know, I understand. I've been there myself. And there's always some moron, you know, just doing stupid stuff like, you know, "Hey, time heals everything," and "Women are like buses, there's one on every corner." But, you know, when it comes to love, the whole thing just sucks. It does.
Aidan: You know what the worst thing is? She pulled the classic on me. "I just want to be friends."
Jake: Oo, yeah, that's not good. That's not -- that's not good. I mean, maybe, maybe, you know, you could be friends 10 years from now, let's say. But no.
Aidan: I can't do it, Jake. I can't just be friends with that woman.
Jake: Of course, you can't. Are you kidding? Look, I'm a jerk. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have even thought about, you know, I should not have thought about moving in with her. I'm sorry. I'm going to talk to her. I'm going to say, forget it.
Aidan: No, no. You know what? I want you to move in with her. Do it.
Annie's voice: Hi, can't get to the phone right now. Leave a message.
Ryan: Hey, it's me. I left a message for you at home as well. I don't know if you're in the shower or something, but I totally forgot that I have something really, really important tonight that I should not miss, and if it's ok with you, I'm not going to cancel. I know you've been talking a lot about getting some work done, so why don't you do that? Why don't you go to Fusion, get some stuff done, and if you need me, just give me a call, ok? Bye.
Zach: Everything all right?
Ryan: Yeah, everything's fine.
Zach: Good. Cambias jet is waiting and Mr. Richie Novak has bought himself a one-way ticket. That's all you need to know. And I've got a feeling he probably doesn't want to go with us, so that's why I need your help.
Ryan: And what about the monitoring device on his ankle?
Zach: We'll cut it off. By the time the police figure it out, we'll be at 30,000 feet.
Ryan: All right. So then what are we waiting for?
Richie: Bye, sis. Thanks for all the laughs.
Jake: So now you do want me to move in with her?
Jake: Really? Why's that?
Aidan: Because I trust you.
Jake: Mm. You didn't a minute ago.
Aidan: Greenlee needs friends. You know, friends that she can trust. Friends that she can talk to when she feels that the walls are closing on her. She doesn't like to be alone, Jake.
Jake: I remember that. No offense.
Aidan: Anyway, Novak being out on bail, it'd just be nice if she had someone there, you know? Someone close.
Jake: All right, well, I'm flattered, and thank you.
Aidan: You're welcome.
Jake: All right. So I'm in, ok? I'd like to do a run. Going to go do, like, you know, 100 miles. You want to come?
Aidan: Just 100? Try to keep up.
Jake: Right on.
Erica: Carmen is going to be just fine. I know she is. But do me a favor, though, will you? Will you just give Adam a swift kick in the rear if he's unfair to her?
Jack: Any excuse to kick Adam Chandler in the ass, I'm for it.
Jack: I'm really, really glad that you made such a good friend in here.
Erica: I really did.
Jack: Yeah, you did.
Erica: She certainly made things a lot easier in here and a lot more entertaining. I really am going to miss her.
Jack: You're going to be fine. And do you know why?
Erica: Why? Because I'm Erica Kane?
Jack: Because you're Erica Kane. Exactly right. Because there is no one more determined, no one stronger, and no one more beautiful.
Erica: Thank you, Jack. Thank you so much for everything.
Jack: I'll be back soon. I promise.
Colby: We searched upstairs again. The police are on their way.
Tad: I can't do this. I can't lose her. I cannot go through this all over again.
Krystal: Tad. Look, uh, Colby and I will call the police again and take a drive, ok? All right. Come on.
Tad: Kathy. Honey, if you can hear me, would you please come out? I'm so worried about you. Come here. Thank the maker. I was so worried about you. Look, don't you do that to me. Ok, don't you ever do that to me again, do you understand? What is it? Do you miss your Aunt julia? Your home and your room? Ok. I understand, sunshine. I promise I understand. I swear I'm going to do everything I can to make you feel better. Ok? Come here.
Jake: [Coughs] Wait. Ok. I'm going to hit the steams.
Aidan: All right. I'll have a shower and then leave.
Jake: You're a masochist. A masochist. But you made me run that last mile, and I appreciate it. Anybody seen my defibrillator? Anybody? Forget it. Time to go to steams.
Aidan: Hey, Jake...
Jake: Hey. I'm going to keep an eye on your girl for you, and I'll make sure she doesn't get in trouble.
[Door getting kicked in]
Ryan: Annie? Oh, God, Annie. She's got a pulse. She's ok. Annie, can you hear me? Hey, Annie, Annie. What is going on?
Richie: Well, surprise, ladies. I'm coming for one of you.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Angie: You will be Pine Valley's chief of the po-po.
Zach: Why were you here?
