J.R.: I still can't believe you tried to pass yourself off as a hooker to try to get Treena's dirt on Richie.

Babe: Well, you're the one who got her to talk.

J.R.: Yeah, well, you know, with the threat of some jail time and a small donation to the Keep-Treena-off-the-Streets Fund, she couldn't give Richie up fast enough.

Babe: He's not going to be able to find her in that hotel room you paid for, right?

J.R.: Oh, no way.

Babe: Well, now the only thing we need to worry about is if her word will be able to wipe that smile off of Richie's face.

J.R.: I can do that.

Babe: But you won't, ok?

J.R.: Ah, Babe. I've been trying to come up with the reason not to kill Richie.

Annie: Why do you like to stir things up? Of course Ryan knows about the lawsuit.

Richie: Oh, he knows the doctor screwed up and his baby-makers are still functional?

Annie: Yes. But this is none of your concern, Richie. This is between me and Ryan.

Richie: Oh, I don't think so, Annie. You're too freaked out for this thing to only say that Mr. Forget-me-not can still make rugrats. My guess is he has no idea that this nip-and-clip never took place. Am I getting warm?

Annie: Go away, Richie. Once again, you've outstayed your welcome.

Richie: Oh, I am good. Hubby doesn't remember you. You're scared to death of losing hubby. Hubby isn't shooting blanks, but hubby doesn't know it.

Annie: You have no idea what you're talking about.

Richie: You're trying to get pregnant, aren't you, you little devil. To bring Ryan into the present by having yet another Lavery spawn.

Annie: Give me back the letter, Richie, and get out!

Richie: Have I told you how proud I am to be your brother? Come on, don't worry. Us Novaks, we keep this sort of thing in the family. Your secret's safe with me. For a price.

Adam: Worthless pulp. Great, great. The specter from hell returns. Well, now, my day is complete. You wipe that self-satisfied grin off your face.

Dixie: Why don't you just quit complaining, Adam? You did it. You actually did it. You gave my Kate to Tad. Your soul is actually worth something after all.

Joe: Ok.

Tad: I got it, Pop.

Joe: Got it?

Joe: Now, you sure you're ready for this?

Tad: No. Then again, I guess I've been ready ever since I found out that Dixie and I were going to have a little girl. Now what I've got to do is find a way to put six years of thoughts and feelings into a language that Kathy can understand.

Joe: You just look into her eyes. The words will come easily.

Tad: Yeah, well, that's the problem. I mean, nothing has been easy for this little girl. My little girl. My daughter deserves some good news. I just hope she thinks it's good news when she finds out that I'm her father.

Greenlee: You better warm up. Wouldn't want these guys to think they're letting us win.

Kendall: Uh, "these guys" are the CEOs of a huge company that I want to team up with Fusion. The only thing I care about winning is their business.

Greenlee: I'm so up for this. God, I feel so good.

Kendall: Really? How come?

Greenlee: Just feeling the love. Even for you, Kendall.

Aidan: Thanks for coming.

Zach: They're either working it out or killing each other. What do you think?

Aidan: I think you know why I wanted to meet. I'm officially resigning my position in Cambias. It's all in there.

Zach: Figured as much.

Aidan: I just don't like things when they get messy.

Zach: Well, speaking of which, are you going to fight for Greenlee?

Aidan: I don't work for you anymore, Zach, so I don't see how it's any of your business.

Zach: My business is whatever I decide to make it.

Aidan: Am I supposed to be impressed? Run away like a scared little boy because the big Zach Slater said so? Not likely.

Zach: You've got some good qualities. But I think deep down, we both know that Greenlee deserves better.

Aidan: And I'm sure you want to do everything in your power to help her move on.

Kendall: Ok. Why do you have so much energy? How come you're in such a good mood? I thought you -- you don't even like tennis, or any competitive sport.

Greenlee: Sometimes a workout can be so exhilarating. Even downright cathartic.

Kendall: Ok, obviously, you're dying to tell me something.

Greenlee: Why would you say that? Don't sell a good workout short. It helps with stress. Look, we've always prided ourselves on being resilient. I'm bouncing back from your little night with Aidan and putting things in perspective and moving forward.

Kendall: Oh, my God. You had sex with someone.

Greenlee: Maybe.

Kendall: No, no, no. That -- that smile doesn't mean "maybe." You did, and -- and I -- I'm betting that your workout partner was not Aidan. Am I right?

Greenlee: You know, we really should start practicing. I think I may have pulled a muscle last night.

Kendall: Oh!

Kendall: Who did you sleep with, Greenlee?

Aidan: So, what? I'm unworthy of Greenlee now, am I?

Zach: That's my opinion.

Aidan: And I'm sure you shared it with her.

Zach: No, only you.

Aidan: All because of what I did with Kendall?

Zach: Among other things, sure.

Aidan: And I bet you're dying to tell me what those things are, aren't you?

Zach: You called the meeting, Aidan.

Aidan: Yeah, to resign from this fake job that you set up for me that's supposed to end in my death, if I'm not mistaken.

Zach: You are mistaken. I could see how you would think that.

Aidan: So why did you hire me, Zach?

Zach: Well, you're the best man for the job.

Aidan: That's crap, and you know it. You found out about me and Kendall, so you hired me to keep me around and keep me close, keep me under your thumb so you could crush me whenever you wanted. Is that not right?

Zach: Whatever I may or may not know about you and Kendall is not important. The important thing is that you knew.

Aidan: What's that supposed to mean?

Zach: It's a question of character. I didn't think you were the kind of guy to take a child from a man after sleeping with his wife. I'm not wrong very often.

Aidan: What, so that's it?

Zach: Yeah. Oh, one more thing. You ever make a move on Kendall or hurt Greenlee in any way, and I will bury you.

Adam: You tell me what my soul is worth, and I'll write you a check.

[Dixie chuckles]

Dixie: Stop it, Adam. You did the right thing. You should be proud.

Adam: Really? I told Tad about Kathy, and look where it got me. I am now the village idiot. I'm the -- the town pariah to everyone. Except Tad Martin, of all people, and that alone adds insult to injury.

Dixie: Well, you could be thankful that Tad reacted the way he did and was grateful.

Adam: No, no, no, I don't either want or -- or need Tad's gratitude. It makes my skin crawl.

Dixie: Ok, so what do you want, Adam?

Adam: I want my daughter to stop treating me like she hates me. I want J.R. to stop treating me like the village idiot, the town fool.

Dixie: And you want Krystal to love you.

Adam: No. That's -- leave Krystal out of this. Change the subject. In fact, change your whole celestial orbit. You -- you promised me that if I gave you what you wanted that you'd leave me alone.

Dixie: Yes, and I will. But first, I want to give you something. I know reuniting Tad and Kate wasn't easy. You deserve to be rewarded.

Adam: Well, how's that going to work out? You're going to, uh, you're going to douse the hellfire and damnation in my closet? Or maybe torch this?

Dixie: No, Adam. It's hope. I'm offering you hope.

Joe: You let that little girl know that she's a Martin. She's got a family, and we'll be here for her no matter what. She'll be loved by all of us.

Tad: Yeah, well, God knows it's always been enough for me. I just hope it's enough for her after everything that's happened.

Opal: Yoo-hoo. Look who I brought.

Joe: There we go.

Tad: Hey. How are you, sunshine? Oh, there you go. Careful. I'm so happy you're here. So happy you're here. We've got a lot to talk about, you and me. A whole lot to talk about. Do you know what you want?

Babe: All right, you're scaring me again, J.R.

J.R.: Look, I'm not going to kill Richie, which doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to.

Babe: You know he is an ex-con. Why don't we just get the cops to put pressure on him and make his life more miserable than it already is?

J.R.: No, no cops. Too many rules. Although we could sic Zach Slater on him.

Babe: And how does he factor in any of this?

J.R.: Well, you remember the night of the hit and run, when I got blackout drunk?

Babe: Yeah, how could I forget that?

J.R.: Yeah, well, the guy who hit Zach and let me take the fall, who does that sound like to you?

Babe: Oh, God. Richie. And he buried Zach and Greenlee alive.

J.R.: That would be my guess.

[Babe sighs]

Babe: Well, h -- how would you prove something like that, J.R.?

J.R.: No, we're -- no, we're not going to do anything. We're just going to tell Zach of my suspicions and let him get medieval on Richie. It's the two-birds-with-one-stone scenario. You know, little bits and pieces of Richie all across America and Zach Slater behind bars. I would pay to see that.

Babe: Ok, but you're not, because that's something the old J.R. Chandler would do. It just wouldn't be right until we know for sure.

J.R.: You can't blame a guy for dreaming.

Babe: Why are you looking at me like that, J.R.?

J.R.: I still can't believe what you tried to do to nail Richie. Nobody's ever stuck their neck out like that for me. And I can't tell you what that means to me.

Annie: Is that just a habit you can't kick, Richie? If things don't go your way, you always just resort to blackmail?

Richie: Well, it did work the first time you wanted to keep Ryan in the dark, and if you hadn't of coughed up that cash, well, I would've just been forced to go to Ryan and tell him that your big, scary break-in was nothing more than a sham. That his attention-starved wife just made the whole thing up.

Annie: Thing is, though, you can't prove that.

Richie: Hmm, well -- this might be easier to prove. I mean, I have to hand it to you, sis. You are really going for the gold. I am proud of you, getting pregnant to keep the old man roped in. That is good.

Annie: Get out, Richie. Get out now, or I will call the police and say that the burglar's back, but this time, I know who the burglar is. I don't think your parole officer would really like that. Would you?

Richie: No, they'd just write that off as a family squabble, just a little sibling rivalry. Besides, I've got nowhere else to go.

Annie: What are you talking about? I thought you were staying at Opal's.

Richie: Oh, well, I was. It seems that Opal wasn't too happy to find me looking through her jewelry box, which brings me to your doorstep. So what do you say, Annie? Are you willing to let your homeless brother stay here with you and Ryan? It's all in the family, right?

Babe: I'm glad I could help, J.R.

J.R.: Yeah, so am I. I need you.

Babe: We can't keep doing this.

J.R.: We can't?

Babe: No, sex isn't the answer for us.

J.R.: Well, we can do it until something better comes along.

Babe: Ok, I am -- I'm serious, J.R.

J.R.: Yeah, well, believe it or not, I am, too. That's why we should be mature, stay focused and in control.

Babe: Good, good.

J.R.: Yeah, which is why I'm moving back in with you.

Adam: There's no such thing as hope for a man like me, not after what I've done.

Dixie: If you stick to the path of forgiveness, you could see some pretty amazing results.

Adam: Oh, yippee-do.

[Dixie chuckles]

Dixie: The road to your redemption is a long one, Adam, I admit, but you've done the hardest part. You've taken the first step. Now all you have to do is stick to the journey.

Adam: In other words, take a hike.

Dixie: Stick to the journey.

[Doorbell rings]

Adam: Where the hell is my staff? Krystal.

Dixie: Good-bye, Adam. Remember, never give up hope.

Adam: What are you doing here?

Opal: Ok, bye-bye, sweetie pie. I'll be back in a little bit, ok? See you later.

Joe: Bye. Good luck.

Tad: Yeah. So, listen. I thought it would be, um, a good idea if you were to say a prayer to your Aunt Julia after everything that's happened, because you know she's listening. I mean, I could -- we -- I could say a prayer with you, if you'd like that. Ok. Why don't you take a knee there? Ok, um, I'm -- I'm here. Ok, uh, what -- "Dear Julia," huh? Dear Julia -- it's Kathy and Tad, and you probably know that, and while we're sure you're at peace, and you're happy, and you made your friends with angels, we also want you to know that we -- we miss you very much. We -- we think about you every day. We know you're watching over us. You're doing your best to keep us safe. But we also want you to know that Kathy's got a lot of people that love her, a whole lot of people that love her and are doing everything they can to keep her safe. I'm going to be with her and take care of her. You want to say anything?

Kathy: I love you, Aunt Julia. I'm being good. Can you make rainbows now?

Tad: It's a piece of cake. You should've asked her for something tough. Anyway, I guess that's all for now, and, uh, we'll be talking to you really soon. We love you. God bless you.

Tad and Kathy: Amen.

Tad: Good, terrific. Why don't you come back over here a second? Come on.

Kathy: Ok.

Tad: I want to talk to you about something. Do you -- do you remember what happened when we met?

Kathy: You were funny. You pulled money out of my ear.

Tad: Yeah, that is a neat trick, isn't it? Well, you know what I remember is I, uh -- I remember that you reached out, and you -- you grabbed my hand, and it was amazing. It was like magic, because I guess I fell in love in a second, just like that. And it turns out there's a really good reason for that, because, uh, you and I have a connection. Yeah, we have a very, very special connection.

Greenlee: Come on, Kendall, hit the ball. It'll be dark in 9 or 10 hours. Come on!

Kendall: All right.

Greenlee: Serve one, already! We made mad, passionate love all night long. It was amazing.

Zach: Let's beat this thing and go home.

Greenlee: Make love to me. Today, Kendall! Focus! Come on, keep your eye on the ball! Ah!

Aidan: Greenlee!

Zach: Oh, Aidan.

Tad: You remember we met in this hospital, right? And we became friends so fast that you decided that I was going to be your new daddy, because you called me Daddy? Remember that? And a lot of adults told you no, that that was a mistake, you can't do that. You're not supposed to do that. Well, sometimes adults are wrong. We make mistakes. See, uh, they told you not to do that, because they were worried about me and my feelings, because six years ago, I had a little girl, and I made some mistakes, and things got very, very mixed up. And I lost her. And I looked all over the place, all over the world for her. It was very sad. I did a lot of praying, and a lot of hoping for a miracle. I almost gave up hope. And in the end -- in the end, I did get my miracle, sweetheart. Because the answer to my prayers was right under my nose the entire time. I just didn't know it, because that little girl walked in the hospital a while back, and she called me "Daddy." See, you were right. You were right the entire time. We were wrong. I don't know how you knew it. You are my little girl. I'm your father. I'm your daddy.

Krystal: To tell you the truth, I -- I have no idea why I'm here.

Adam: Well, obviously, you're not done taking me to task for how I handled things with Kathy, Kate -- whatever her name is. So go ahead, go ahead. Lay it on me and be on your way. The neighbors, I understand, have pork rinds.

Krystal: I wanted to hate you, Adam. I wanted to hate you for keeping that little girl away from Tad for so long, and for using a six-year-old as a weapon.

Adam: Oh. Ok, I see it. I knew it. Come on, let me have it.

Krystal: I wanted to hate you, but the fact is, you came through for Tad and for Kathy. You probably saved Tad's life by telling him.

Adam: Krystal --

Krystal: And when that little girl ran away from Tad, and she was so upset and so confused, you were the one who got her to go back to him. I saw you with her. You were talking to her so -- so sweetly, and you were being so patient with her, and comforting her and telling her that it was -- it was ok to be sad. And when I saw that, I saw the man I fell in love with.

Babe: You are so not moving in with me.

J.R.: Well, then you can move back into the mansion. There's a lot more room there.

Babe: You're kidding me, right? There's one word for this. No.

J.R.: Babe.

Babe: This isn't open for discussion, J.R.

J.R.: It's not about you and me. Look, we'll live in different wings. I just don't feel right with you and little a being alone until we nail Novak.

Babe: Every time there is an issue or some kind of danger or problem, your answer is to stuff us into the mansion to keep us safe.

J.R.: I want to keep you safe. I want to protect you, Babe. If it makes you feel better, I'll sleep in Little A's room.

Babe: And what are we going to tell him this time? That Mommy and Daddy are going to get back together for a little while, and then we won't be? We can't keep doing that to our son, because that's what he really wants. He wants us to get back together.

J.R.: Gee, I know how he feels. You're right. First things first. We get Richie.

Babe: Without killing him.

J.R.: Without killing him. That's the number one priority.

Babe: Thank you.

J.R.: Yeah.

Babe: And you're not going to do anything --

J.R.: Stupid?

Babe: Yeah.

J.R.: Who, me?

Richie: You don't want to turn me away, Annie.

Annie: The hell I don't. You must be deranged to ask if you could stay here. And if you think I would give you a dime, that means you real are crazy, Richie.

Richie: Calm down, Annie. Obviously, I didn't make myself clear. Either you give me the cash, or I go to Ryan, let him know he's being put out to stud. And then it's rock-a-bye-bye, baby, if you catch my drift.

Annie: Take this and get out. You are pathetic.

Richie: Right back at you. Oh, sweet. Big sister knows how to take care of little brother.

Zach: Let me see it. Nice. Don't be a baby, it's all right. Here. Put this on what's left of your eye.

Greenlee: Thanks. Very nice. Ow.

Zach: How does it feel, ok?

Greenlee: Well, the throbbing's an improvement. How's my mascara?

Aidan: Here, come here, let me hold the ice for you.

Greenlee: I'm fine, thanks.

Kendall: Greenlee, I'm -- I'm so sorry.

Greenlee: Save the apologies, Kendall. I saw the look in your eyes. You did it on purpose.

Kendall: No, I didn't. That's not true.

Greenlee: Really?

Kendall: Greenlee, it was an accident. I didn't mean to hurt you.

Greenlee: No, Kendall, you never mean to hurt me. It's always an accident, isn't it? Unfortunate circumstances, it can't be avoided -- kind of like falling on top of my fiancÚ. That was an accident, too, right? Well, that's it!

Kendall: Greenlee.

Greenlee: No, I'm sorry. You know what? I'm supposed to get over your little romp with Aidan, like Zach did.

Aidan: Greenlee, it wasn't -- it wasn't a romp. I tried to explain to you what it was. It's -- it was a mistake.

Greenlee: Ha.

Aidan: We all know it was a mistake. You want to rub everyone's nose in it, go ahead.

Greenlee: Tell that to her. I'm sure she's heard it from you before.

Kendall: Ok, ok -- you know what? I did hit you on purpose, all right? Are you happy now?

Greenlee: Well, at least you're finally telling the truth. There's a new concept.

Zach: Let's take it easy.

Greenlee: No, you know what? Come on. I'll tell you the truth, too. Remember when I was saying that I was feeling the love? Yeah, well, my little good mood was no accident either. And the best part of all is I kept it in the family.

Zach: Oh, boy.

Greenlee: What? Family is so important. If you can't trust your family, who can you trust, right?

Adam: You remember loving me, Krystal? I never thought I'd hear you say those words again.

Krystal: I never thought I'd say them.

Tad: Well, what do you think? I mean, about me being your daddy?

Kathy: I don't know.

Tad: Well, it's a good answer. Um -- if you got any questions, you know, if you've got anything that you'd like to -- you'd like to ask. If you want to tell me how you feel, it's ok, it's all right.

Kathy: Ok. Do I come to live with you?

Tad: I would like that very much. I'd like that a lot, if it's ok with you. I mean, you'll be living with Krystal, too, and, oh, hey -- you know what? Officially, this makes you Jenny's older sister. And you know J.R. and Jamie? They're your older brothers.

Kathy: I can still beat him at thumbs.

Tad: I'm sure you can. And Little Adam, remember Little Adam, the baby? He's, uh, well, he's not a baby. He's your nephew. So you have a -- you have a really big family.

Kathy: Really?

Tad: Yep. I wouldn't lie to you. I'll never lie to you, sunshine. And -- and, listen. No pressure, but, if you want, if you feel like it, you know, you could -- you could go back to calling me "Daddy." I mean, on a trial basis. We'll see how it goes. Will you give it a shot, see how it feels? Go ahead.

Kathy: Daddy.

Tad: That was pretty good. That was very good. Come here for a sec. Give me a hug.

[Slamming sound, followed by cry of pain]

[Richie coughs]

J.R.: You ready, Richie?

Richie: Ready for what?

J.R.: This time, you're my prisoner. Huh? Huh? Yeah. This time I get to call the shots.

Kendall: Wait, hold on, Greenlee. I -- I don't know what you're talking about by -- what -- what do you mean by family?

Greenlee: Yes, you do. It's always good to keep family close, right?

Aidan: What are you talking about, Greenlee? What's going on? What's with the riddles?

Greenlee: It's none of your business. Get lost, Aidan. Better yet, I'll get lost.

Zach: Hey, what the hell was that? What were you trying to pull with Kendall?

Krystal: I just wanted to say thank you.

Adam: Of course.

Krystal: It meant a lot to me, and to Tad.

Adam: Does it mean anything else?

Krystal: I still can't trust you, Adam. I don't know if I'll ever be able to trust you again. But I have to admit, seeing you with Kathy -- it made me think of how it might have been with Jenny.

Adam: It could be again, Krystal, if you just allow it. You know you want to. You know I want to.

Krystal: I love -- I love Tad, and my job now is to make sure that he gets through this, and to make a home for him and for Kathy.

Adam: Krystal --

Krystal: No. No, you know? I -- I have go.

Adam: Krystal.

Krystal: I have to go.

Adam: Krystal, wait.

Dixie's voice: Never give up hope.

Tad: Kathy, Opal and Joe wanted to be here today for a very, very special reason. They wanted me to make some introductions. So, I would like to introduce to you your grandma and your grandpa.

Kathy: Hi.

Joe: Hi. Kathy, I hope you're as excited as we are, because we feel so lucky to have such a special new granddaughter.

Opal: That's right. And, uh, well, it took me a little while to, you know, get used to the name, but I'm pretty good at this "Grandma" business, if I do say so myself. So, how about you and me go off to the park and get a little better acquainted, huh? Give your daddy a chance to rest up a little bit, ok? I'll push you on the swings. How's that? Would you like that?

Tad: You go ahead, ok?

Opal: Let's go.

Tad: I'll see you again real soon, real soon. Bye.

Opal: Come on.

Tad: I can't believe it's happened. I can't believe this day has finally come. You know, I just -- for so long I wanted to be able to look into her eyes, to be able to hold her hand. I can't help feeling like it's some kind of miracle.

Joe: It is a miracle. And now, you know, let's get you back to your room.

Tad: Uh, listen, Pop, do me a favor, would you? Can I -- do you mind if I stick around? By myself, just for a few minutes. There's a -- there's a couple of thank-yous I think I should make.

Joe: Not too long, huh?

Tad: All right. Just a few minutes. Well, Dixie, wherever you are, whenever you are, I hope to God you can hear me. We did it. We did it. Our little girl is home. Kate's home. And she's a -- she's a miracle. She's a dream come true. You did fine work, honey. She looks just like you. And I can't help but think -- no, I can't help but know that it was you. You're responsible. You're the one who brought her back to us. The only thing I'm sorry about is that you're not here, that you're not here with me to share the moment.

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Carmen: Whatever happened to "the show must go on"? We got to bust out of here.

Jesse: I'm a cop. That's who I am.

J.R.: Let me introduce you to the last day of your life.

Tad: I wish I could touch you one last time.

Dixie: You can.
