Jack: Thank you. Well, Erica, I must say, you look spectacular, as always. Tell me something, did I buy you that dress?
Erica: No, but you removed it on several occasions.
Jack: I knew it looked familiar.
Erica: Don't worry, Jack, I'm wearing neutral tonight.
Waiter: Here you are.
Jack: Thanks -- I won't even ask.
Erica: You were fabulous on the show. The audience just loved you.
Jack: Erica, I was a deer in the headlights, but I do appreciate you lying.
Erica: Won't you at least consider coming back on the show -- I mean, now that we are amicably divorced again?
Jack: No. My television days are over.
Erica: We'll see.
Jack: Don't push.
Erica: Who, me? So, you said that you had something terribly urgent to discuss with me? What's this?
Jack: Read it and see.
Erica: Oh, that.
Jack: "Oh, that"? "Oh, that" can get you into a world of trouble.
Ryan: What is he talking about?
Annie: I -- I agreed to test, to see if I was a match for Richie's bone marrow.
Ryan: What? Why wouldn't you tell me about this?
Richie: Oh, maybe she thought you'd go postal -- like now.
Annie: I will handle this, Richie.
Nurse: We're all done here, Mrs. Lavery. I'll get these right to the lab.
Ryan: So -- so this is done, like, you're doing this?
Annie: I felt that I had to.
Ryan: Why? So that he can live longer and torture you more?
Richie: That's -- that's all done with. Annie and I worked it out. Just tell him -- tell him.
Ryan: I wasn't talking to you, Richie.
Annie: Listen, listen, Richie isn't going to bother us anymore.
Richie: See, it all works out, bro --
[Ryan punches Richie, then pushes him against the wall, twisting his arm behind him]
Annie: No -- Ryan! Ryan, what are you doing?
Aidan: How exactly did Sylvester die?
Angie: His system shut down, every organ attacked by some powerful agent, origin unknown.
Aidan: Like the same thing that you were worried about with -- with Frankie and Greenlee, right?
Zach: What were the symptoms?
Angie: Stomach cramps, difficulty breathing, convulsions. The hospital in Philadelphia is faxing over everything they know about Sylvester's case.
Aidan: Damn it, Greenlee, pick up the phone.
Greenlee: Breathe --
Julia: Ok, Greenlee, lean forward, it's going to help you breathe easier. Now, lean forward.
Greenlee: Can't swallow --
Julia: All right, stay calm and just focus on -- help is here.
Kendall: You're ok, you're ok. Look -- help is here, they're right here, ok?
EMT: Julia, talk to me.
Julia: Dyspnea and dysphagia. She was about to take a drink, and she started choking. I would've done the Heimlich, but she couldn't -- let's get some O2 on her.
EMT: You got medical history?
Julia: Uh -- she's had a couple of recent episodes since her exposure in the woods, but no meds and no known allergies.
EMT: Ok, I read about her. Do you have any other pain or discomfort anywhere in your body?
Second EMT: She's got some accessory muscle use -- I'm thinking an upper airway obstruction. Her sat's 94%. I say we move.
First EMT: Absolutely. Let's go -- work her up on the bus.
Kendall: Hello, Aidan -- Aidan? Uh -- no, it's -- it's Kendall.
Aidan: Kendall, I need to speak to Greenlee now.
Kendall: No, you can't, because Greenlee's having some sort of an attack, and she can't breathe.
Aidan: Oh, my God.
Kendall: Uh -- yeah. You know what? Um -- the -- the paramedics are here, ok? Meet us at the hospital. Bye. Ok, listen to me, listen to me, you're going to be fine, ok? You're going to be just fine. I'm right here. Ok? Ok. You're going to be just fine.
Joe: Well, Frankie -- shall I call you "Frankie" or "Quentin"?
Frankie: Your choice.
Joe: Ok. Well, either way, we're very glad to have you back -- you and your mom.
Opal: Knock, knock.
Joe: Hello, Opal.
Opal: Can the patient have a visitor?
Joe: Well, sure, but only for a little bit. We want to keep conversation to a minimum.
Opal: Oh, you don't have to worry about me, Joe -- you know I'll do all the talking anyway.
Joe: I'll be back to check on you later.
Frankie: Thanks, Dr. Martin.
Opal: Frankie Hubbard -- as I live and breathe. I knew you looked familiar when was in here the last time -- you remember? Only, I thought you were from the TV or the movies or something.
Opal: Look at you, so handsome, just like your daddy -- oh, may he rest in peace. Now, I know that you are not feeling so well right now, Frankie, but you got to keep your chin up. I have never in my life seen a woman more determined than your mama, and any smarter, neither. She's going to fix you right up. She wouldn't let anything happen to her baby.
Amanda: Uh -- you take it.
Babe: No, no, you were here first.
Amanda: Oh -- oh, hey, look -- why don't we just sit together?
Babe: So -- um -- I was thinking of narrowing down the gowns for the "Go Red" fashion show. Which one's your favorite?
Amanda: So, work is the only safe topic of conversation?
Babe: What do you want to talk about, Amanda?
Amanda: I don't know -- for starters, what I did to J.R.?
Babe: No, I -- I don't want to hear it, ok?
Amanda: Look, I'm really sorry, ok? I was just really pissed off at J.R. and Adam for the way that they treated me and my mom, and I just wanted to make them pay.
Babe: Well, you sure did, didn't you -- $5 million worth? I mean, why are you still working at Fusion? I mean, why do you care what the rest of us working people think of you? You -- you made your score, now you can live with it.
Amanda: I'm trying, Babe.
Babe: No, you can try better than that, ok?
Amanda: No, I mean with you, ok? I -- I hate that we're not friends, all right? If I could do a big redo and do everything over, I would, ok, but I can't. This just really sucks.
Babe: So, money doesn't buy happiness -- is that your story?
Amanda: Well, I mean, I am a little happy. Oh, come on, you've had money before, I haven't. And it's nice to plunk your credit card down and not worry about crashing your limit.
Babe: So, what have you bought?
Amanda: I don't know -- stuff. Clothes -- I bought a lot of clothes. A car --
Babe: A car?
Amanda: I bought some -- some furniture for the yacht.
Babe: Oh, oh, please -- "furniture for the yacht"?
Amanda: I know, I know, it sounds awful, doesn't it?
Babe: No, no, it doesn't sound awful. It's actually -- actually kind of funny -- I mean, not the J.R. part, but the Adam part. I mean, I -- I would've loved to have seen the look on his face.
Amanda: Yeah, he hated me that day.
Babe: I bet.
Amanda: And I'm taking care of my mother. I mean, that's a good thing, isn't it?
Babe: You know what, Amanda? Kendall -- she was right before. I mean, what you did to J.R. was awful, but -- but who are any of us to pass judgment?
Waitress: What can I get for you, ladies?
Babe: Well, I'm going to have a margarita -- and one for my friend.
Babe: Why not? I have had enough fighting to last a lifetime.
Erica: Warren's not picking up his cell.
Jack: Erica, you need to get ahold of this guy.
Erica: Jack, it -- it's just something about stocks, that's all.
Jack: It's hundreds of shares of stock purchased the day before this company was sold -- it looks very suspicious.
Erica: Well, I certainly don't make my own investments.
Jack: Do you recall this transaction?
Erica: You know I do.
Jack: Then you are going to be held accountable -- you. Nobody else, you.
Erica: Well, look, there's nothing I can do about it tonight, but I will get Warren on it first thing in the morning, I promise. It -- it's probably nothing.
Jack: Erica, when the government demands to see you, it is definitely something.
Annie: Ryan, let him go!
Richie: You want to choke me now?
Guard: Ok, buddy, that's enough!
Annie: Ryan, listen to me, it wasn't Richie's fault this time. He's my brother, I agreed to get tested, because I couldn't live with myself if I didn't.
Guard: You ok?
Richie: Oh, yeah, I'm fine.
Annie: What is wrong with you?
Ryan: I -- uh -- I don't know. I don't know.
Annie: Ryan --
Ryan: I know, I know, I know -- he's your brother. What the hell was I thinking? I am -- I am so sorry.
Kendall: It's ok, it's ok. I'm right here, Greenlee. You're going to be all right, ok?
Julia: We need respiratory, stat!
Kendall: I'm right here.
Aidan: Greenlee -- Greenlee, are you all right?
Zach: What happened? Kendall --
Kendall: Zach, we were talking and laughing, and then all of a sudden she -- she couldn't breathe, she stopped breathing. I don't know what happened. What is wrong with her?
Zach: That's what we're trying to find out.
Julia: One, two, three --
Angie: Get these to the lab right away.
Angie: Move, move!
EMT: We're going.
Aidan: I'm not leaving her.
Angie: I need you to stay out of the way.
Aidan: I'm staying here.
Kendall: She's strong, right? She's going to be fine, right? She's going to be fine.
Zach: I need you to get a blood test.
Kendall: Why me?
Zach: Just a precaution.
Kendall: What aren't you telling me?
Zach: You remember Sylvester, right -- the guy who owned the cabin? He's dead, and he had the same symptoms that Greenlee has and Frankie has and -- we were all in the bunker or outside the bunker, including you.
Kendall: Ok, but I don't see how this can affect me.
Zach: Kendall, come on. Just do it. Please, do what I tell you.
Opal: I brought you a little present -- something I found in a box in my attic. Your mama and daddy made a mighty fine-looking couple, didn't they?
Joe: Opal, sorry, time's up.
Joe: This young fellow needs his rest.
Opal: All right, all right, I can take a hint. I guess that's my cue to skedaddle.
Frankie: Thank you.
Opal: You don't have to thank me. I'm going to put this right here next to your bed, so you can keep an eye on it. Your mama is taking very good care of you, and your daddy's watching you from up on up above. So, between the two of them, you got nothing to worry about.
Nurse: Dr. Martin, could I see you for a minute, please?
Joe: Yes, of course. I'll be back.
Nurse: These are his latest numbers.
Joe: Mm-hmm. Well, whatever it is, it's attacking his lungs and his kidneys.
Nurse: Another round of antibiotics?
Joe: Nothing we've tried so far has worked. Where's Dr. Hubbard?
Zach: You all right?
Kendall: Yeah, I'm fine.
Zach: I didn't mean to frighten you, but --
Kendall: I know, I know. Zach, what is -- what is wrong?
Zach: I pulled that thing out of the ground.
Kendall: What are you talking about?
Zach: That root.
Zach: I got to check on something.
Kendall: Wait -- ok, well --
Zach: I'll be right back.
Kendall: Where are you going? Zach --
Angie: We're done here.
Aidan: Is she going to be all right?
Kendall: How is she?
Angie: Well, we had to breathe for her for a while, but she's breathing on her own now.
Kendall: Thank you.
Angie: Excuse me.
Julia: Frankie's. Is there anything I can do?
Angie: Yeah, keep him stable. Uh -- do you know if Sylvester's files came in?
Julia: Right here.
Angie: Gosh, I need to talk to his attending.
Julia: I'm on it.
Angie: And, Julia, do you know if there's been any word from the Center for Disease Control?
Julia: I have been in contact with them, but so far, nothing.
Aidan: You made it, baby. You survived it.
Greenlee: Not ready to leave you yet.
Aidan: That's what I want to hear. Ok, you got to fight. Make sure you fight.
Zach: Hey -- Jada. How you doing? Dr. Hubbard asked you to get something tested earlier.
Jada: That's right. They were sent to the lab.
Zach: The lab -- down there? Thank you.
Guard: Do you need me to call the police, sir?
Richie: Nah, that won't be necessary. It's just a little family misunderstanding, that's all.
Annie: Thank you.
Ryan: Look, Richie, I am --
Richie: Hey, hey, man, no harm, no foul. It's ok, ok? So -- yeah, I'm going to leave and let you guys talk about whatever.
Annie: I'll -- I'll be in touch when the hospital lets me know if I'm a match, ok?
Richie: Sure thing. And, thank you. Huh -- later.
Ryan: I -- um -- I really don't know exactly what to say.
Annie: You don't have to say anything, but you're going back to the doctors, Ryan, because something is clearly wrong. Maybe the doctors missed something when you got shot, Ryan, like a -- a bullet fragment or something.
Ryan: Joe would never release me if he didn't think I was 100%, ok? I just -- I just momentarily lost it with your brother, all right? It's not like it hasn't happened before.
Annie: Yeah, but not like this. Not out of nowhere. It's like someone is turning a switch on and then turning a switch off.
Ryan: It won't happen again, Annie.
Annie: How do you know that, Ryan? How do you know about any of the things that have been happening lately? I mean, all of these big, new plans of yours and giving away our money and --
Ryan: Hey, hey, hey, I thought you liked the new-and-improved me.
Annie: I do, I do -- ok? But when something like this happens, I think --
Ryan: You're just worried, ok? You're worried, I get that. But I overreacted, you set me straight, and that's the end of the story, that's it.
Annie: I still want you to go see Joe.
Ryan: Fine. I'll go see Joe, ok? If it makes you feel better, I'll go see him, I promise.
Annie: Thank you.
Ryan: Ok, just not today. Because today I have some very big plans with my beautiful wife, you see, so --
Babe: He really hurt you, didn't he -- J.R.?
Amanda: I didn't think it was possible, but yeah, he did. You know, I guess I just thought deep down if I just stuck in there long enough, you know, he would work his way through all his Avas and finally get to me. But it wasn't about her or any of the rest. He's really in love with you.
Amanda: So, what about you?
Babe: Oh, I don't know. Sometimes I wish I could just flip the switch on it all and just make it all go away. I mean, my God, talk about hurting one another -- I think J.R. and I retired the trophy.
Amanda: Yeah, but you're still in each other's lives.
Babe: Yeah, yeah, for Little A.
Amanda: Come on. You're telling me that midnight romp had anything to do with Little A?
Babe: Ok, I -- I had a weak moment and -- and I regressed. I'm -- I'm stronger now.
Amanda: Mm-hmm -- mm-hmm. Well, now is your chance to prove it.
Amanda: Not J.R., door number two.
Jack: Thank you.
Erica: Thank you. Jack, not every situation has to end in crisis.
Jack: Well, sure has seemed that way for the past few months.
Erica: Well, I will take care of it, I promise, and thank you for your concern.
Jack: Good, you're welcome. Now we can enjoy a pleasant dinner?
Jack: Yeah, something wrong with "pleasant"?
Erica: Well, it just seems like such a beige word -- I mean, "pleasant"?
Jack: After all we've been through lately, I will happily accept "beige."
Erica: Well, that sure isn't the Jack I know. The Jack I know, the Jack I married and fell in love with -- he wouldn't settle for "beige." Nothing beige about him. He's intense, he's passionate. So tell me, who is lighting your fire these days? I mean, I would guess Nurse Julia, but she hardly seems the fiery type to me.
Julia: I faxed the CDC the latest results on Frankie and Greenlee, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
Joe: Well, I hope the team arrives soon. We are running out of options. There you are.
Kendall: Joe -- Joe?
Kendall: I'm going crazy waiting. Isn't there anything that we can do?
Joe: Have you contacted Jackson?
Kendall: Oh, my God. No, no, I haven't.
Joe: He really -- he really should be here.
Kendall: Ok, yeah. Excuse me.
Aidan: What else, though, Joe? Is there anything I can do?
Joe: Yes -- blood. Till we find out what we're dealing with, both of them -- Greenlee and Frankie -- are going to need transfusions.
Aidan: Well, that doesn't sound good.
Joe: Yeah, well, I'm not going to lie to you, Aidan -- none of this is good.
Greenlee: Am -- am I dying?
Angie: Not for a very long time if I have anything to say about it. I met Aidan. I can tell he loves you very, very much. You know my son, Frankie -- Quentin? Greenlee, you've both got too much to live for, and my job is to make sure that you have the time to do it.
Greenlee: I hope you're good at your job.
Angie: I am.
Zach: Hey. Do you mind? I'm -- how you doing? I'm -- I'm Zach Slater -- save your strength. I know who you are. You're Frankie -- Frank Hubbard, Quentin. Well, I'm the guy that you pulled out of that hole that night, so, thank you. You saved my life, I owe you. Now, there -- there was a woman down there with me, as you know, and she's not doing well. She's sick like you. So I got -- I got to ask you something. Now, don't laugh at me, but do you recognize this?
Frankie: Woods. Dug it up. Water.
Zach: "Water"? You drank water from this?
Frankie: Cut it up in a stew. Felt sick. I thought it was the meat.
Zach: Thank you, Frankie. You -- you may have pulled yourself out of this. I'll be back.
Angie: Greenlee's doing fine.
Aidan: I brought you a cup of coffee.
Angie: Oh, you're sweet. Thank you.
Aidan: You look like you need a good rest.
Angie: No, what I need is some answers -- why Greenlee, why Frankie? What is the common denominator here?
Aidan: Yeah, well, don't forget about Sylvester.
Angie: Well, he's the part of the equation that scares me the most. Why don't you go in and sit with her for a while.
Aidan: All right.
Kendall: Come on, Jack, pick up.
Amanda: He has not taken his eyes off you since he got here.
Babe: Ok, I'm trying to simplify my life, Amanda, remember?
Amanda: Oh -- well, incoming.
Richie: Uh, hello, ladies.
Babe: Oh -- hi, Richie.
Richie: You guys mind if I join you?
Amanda: Uh -- no, you know what? I was just about to leave, so you can have my seat.
Babe: Amanda --
Amanda: Yeah, go on. I have lots to do for the "Go Red" campaign, it's fine.
Babe: Ok, well, then I'm coming with you.
Amanda: No, no, no, I got it handled. Have fun, you two.
Richie: Huh. Um --
Babe: Well, you -- you look happy.
Richie: I am, I am. Annie got tested today.
Babe: Oh, my God, Richie, that's great! Good for her -- I mean, good for the both of you, that's great.
Richie: Yeah, we should be getting the results back any minute now.
Babe: I'm sure everything's going to work out for you.
Richie: Thanks. Huh.
Babe: Are you ok?
Richie: Yeah, I just didn't eat a lot today -- I guess I've been kind of nervous.
Richie: Um -- would you like to eat with me? How about some dinner?
Babe: I -- no, actually, I -- I was just leaving.
Richie: Just something quick.
Babe: No, um -- I got to get home to Little A, so --
Richie: Please? I got this thing about eating alone. Don't tell me you're going to refuse a dying man.
Babe: What are you going to do when you get that bone marrow transplant, and you're not going to be able to play that dying-man card anymore?
Jack: Oh, I don't know, Erica, Julia Santos seems pretty fiery to me.
Erica: Do tell.
Jack: Hmm -- a gentleman never does.
Erica: And you are, after all, a gentleman.
Jack: Indeed I am. And you are, after all, so far off base that it's a shame to tell you this. It's so much fun to keep you guessing, but I'm going to tell you anyway. The only person that thinks Julia Santos and I are dating is you.
Erica: Well, the look on her face when she discovered that you and I were locked in Kendall's closet together certainly suggested otherwise.
Jack: Only to you. So tell me, are you going out, seeing anyone, dating -- whatever we're supposed to call it at this juncture?
Erica: Well, Jack, I mean, I'm out all the time -- and it is so boring.
Waiter: Excuse me, sir.
Kendall: How is she?
Aidan: She's -- um -- she's in and out of it. Did you call Jack?
Kendall: I didn't get ahold of him, not yet.
Aidan: Keep trying, because I'm sure Greenlee would want him to be here.
Angie: Jesse. Hi, baby. Look at us. We were so young, and your daddy was so fine -- just like you.
Frankie: I -- um -- I miss him.
Angie: I do, too. Well, I just came to check on you, and now I got to get back to work.
Zach: Doc -- I think it's this. We were running out of water, I cut it up and gave whatever was in it to Greenlee, and Frankie said he was eating some of it.
Angie: This is Dr. Hubbard. Listen, I need you to drop whatever you're doing. We're bringing in a sample I need tested, stat. I'm on my way.
Zach: Let's go.
Julia: How's she doing?
Greenlee: She's doing better.
Aidan: How's Frankie?
Julia: The same. Now, I don't want to get anybody's hopes up, but we may have found a link between the two cases.
Aidan: Well, that's great.
Kendall: Well, what is it?
Julia: Zach found it, actually. Some odd-looking root that you drank the water from.
Greenlee: I was dying of thirst. Zach didn't have any.
Julia: Well, it's off being tested right now.
Kendall: Well, this -- this is good news, then, isn't it?
Kendall: Julia, who are they?
Julia: They're from the Center for Disease Control.
Kendall: Well, why are they here?
Julia: It's just a precaution.
Richie: Will you say you'll stay for dinner?
Babe: Richie, I -- I don't know.
Richie: Come on, come on. I just might die if you don't say yes.
Ryan: Did you know that mustard is the favorite hotdog topping for adults, and that ketchup is the favorite for kids? Did you know that?
Annie: I did not.
Annie: But you like both, so what does that make you?
Ryan: A kid at heart.
Annie: I'm sorry I didn't tell you about going to take the bone marrow test.
Ryan: Why didn't you?
Annie: I wasn't sure myself if I was going to do it until I actually sat down.
Annie: But, hey, I'm going to show you something.
Ryan: Is this a signed confession from Richie?
Annie: Everything he's ever done, all of it.
Ryan: In exchange for you taking the test?
Annie: Yeah. And he promised to leave town after all of this is done. But this way, if he doesn't -- if -- if he bothers us again --
Ryan: Then you just drop this off with the cops. I knew I married you for a good reason.
Ryan: Smart and beautiful, huh? So -- so what now?
Annie: Well, if I'm a match, I go along with the procedure.
Annie: Is it, really?
Ryan: Well, yeah. Like you said, he's your brother, right? What?
Annie: You're just -- you're so calm about it now.
Ryan: Oh, I see. So now you're worried about me, because I'm not acting crazy. Get over here.
Angie: Hey, didn't you get my message?
Lab tech: Yeah, but I'm -- I'm swamped right now.
Angie: Then you unswamp yourself. There are lives at stake here.
Richie: I am telling you, Ryan just snapped. I mean, he reaches out and grabs me by the throat like he's going to kill me. And then he just -- I don't know -- he lets me go and apologizes. The man is bughouse nuts.
Babe: But -- but the bottom line is, is Annie got tested?
Richie: She still might not go through with it, but yeah.
Babe: I know you don't want to get your hopes up.
Richie: Would you?
Babe: Well, let's just say that she does, and the transplant's successful. I mean, God, Richie, that would be such a gift.
Richie: I would be playing with house money, wouldn't I? Before Annie got tested, she asked me, "What are you going to do with the rest of your life?" Now that there might actually be a rest of my life.
Babe: And what did you say?
Richie: I gave her some smart-ass answer.
Babe: And what answer would you give me?
Richie: Next 40 or 50 years? Wow. I guess the real answer is, it's almost scarier than dying.
Ryan: Hey, do you know what I need?
Ryan: I need another hotdog.
Annie: Well, of course, you do.
Ryan: You want me to get you one? They're good.
Annie: Uh, no. I know. I'm good.
Ryan: Like, the world's best hotdogs, ever.
Annie: I know. I know. I'm ok. You go, and I'll be waiting for you when you get back.
Ryan: Ok, I'll be right back.
Annie: Ok. Hey, Joe, it's -- it's Annie Lavery. Could you give me a call back? It's Ryan. I'm worried about him.
Jack: Can I give you a lift home?
Erica: I have a car waiting.
Erica: I will take care of this.
Erica: Don't worry.
[Jack kisses Erica]
Jack: Definitely not beige.
Kendall's voice: Jack, it's Kendall. I'm at the hospital. Greenlee's here. She needs you.
[Aidan makes kissing sound]
Greenlee: Hmm. Alfonso --
Aidan: Alfonso wants you to come home. And so do I.
Angie: You make sure the CDC gets a copy of this report right away. We also need to get in touch with Poison Control and the Department of Agriculture.
Lab tech: Yes, Dr. Hubbard.
Kendall: Hey. What is it?
Zach: The results are back on that plant I told you about.
Angie: It's called tannis root. It's extremely toxic and there is a good chance that this is what killed the man who owned the cabin. We have to run some tests to verify.
Kendall: Is it too late for Frankie and Greenlee?
Angie: Well, not if we can use this to create an antidote.
Zach: How much time?
Angie: The clock's ticking as we speak.
[Jesse quietly sneaks into Frankie's room to watch over his ailing son]
>> On the next "All My Children" --
[Greenlee's alarm goes off as her body convulses]
Julia: Get Dr. Hubbard!
Angie: I could end up killing my son.
Tad: That's not going to happen.
Jesse (to Frankie): From now on, I promise you, I will be by your side every step of the way.
