Bianca: I'm so glad that Zach ordered you to spend the night at home with us.

Kendall: He was worried, yes. Ooh. That was hard to leave him. I -- I feel like if I'm not there staring at him and touching him, that he'll be gone. Or, I don't know, maybe we didn't really find him. Maybe it wasn't real.

Bianca: Yeah, well, the man ordered you out of his hospital room, and he wouldn't take no for an answer. It's Zach, and he is back, and he's going to be just fine. Everything is going to be just fine.

Kendall: It is, isn't it?

Bianca: Hey! Good morning, little munchkin.

Kendall: Hello. Well, look who's -- hi, sweet boy.

Bianca: How are you?

[Zach chuckles]

Erica: Mm-hmm.

Zach: Look at these guys, huh? That's quite a party you throw.

Erica: Oh, I would have shipped in Santa's reindeers if I could have.

Zach: Well, Santa's got nothing on you. Why don't you take a breather?

Erica: Yeah, I really do have --

[Knock on door]

Erica: A million things to do.

Zach: Thank you.

Erica: You're welcome.

Derek: Glad to see you're on the road to recovery. There's been a development in your case.

Zach: Anything you know about the guy that mowed me down, I want to hear it.

Derek: We have new information that confirms that it wasn't J.R. who hit you.

Adam: Damn Zach Slater's luck! Whew. Now, why couldn't he just stay roadkill? Oh. Well, no more good news? No wedding announcements? Krystal and Tad? That adulterous -- J.R., where are you going?

J.R.: To get as far away from you as I can.

Greenlee: Hi.

[Greenlee chuckles]

Aidan: How are you?

Greenlee: Hi. So, did I dream it?

Aidan: Did you dream what?

Greenlee: Christmas. All these people that I thought hated me -- they said they cared. They -- they said they were worried about me, even Kendall. Hmm. And Spike? I can't believe I'm not the reason he's deaf.

Aidan: Listen, you didn't dream it, all right? It's real. It's very, very real, and it's only going to get better. Oh, by the way -- look what I got here. Someone wants to say hi.

[Greenlee gasps and laughs]

Greenlee: Oh. Alfonso --

Aidan: He never gave up.

Greenlee: Hmm. Hi, Alfi. It's ok, right? I mean, after all the wrong turns and the -- the bad moves, I think my luck is finally changing.

Derek: The DVD of J.R. confirms that he was nowhere near the scene of the hit-and-run.

Erica: Are you sure?

Derek: A radio broadcast of a concert was playing in the background, and there was a time and date stamp.

Zach: It could have been doctored.

Derek: Amanda Dillon corroborates it, and that stuff on the video -- J.R. wouldn't fake his alibi with that.

Erica: But it was his car.

Zach: So, what, it was stolen?

Derek: Well, my men are following up. One thing I haven't figured out is the bomb shelter. After you and Greenlee fell in, someone deliberately covered the opening.

Erica: Oh, my God.

Derek: Whoever it was definitely didn't want you found. Eric well, they almost got their wish.

Derek: Anything you can tell me?

Zach: We were down there, and somebody was calling down to us, and it wasn't J.R., and said that someone was looking for me, and then they --

Derek: You didn't recognize his voice?

Zach: No, but I will, next time I hear it.

Derek: And I'll keep you posted.

Aidan: Come here.

[Aidan kisses Greenlee]

Joe: A little late for mouth-to-mouth.

[Greenlee giggles]

Greenlee: When can I go home?

Joe: One step at a time. Your immune system has taken a big hit. And let's keep the excitement to a minimum, ok?

Derek: You don't leave your post until you're relieved. Understood?

Officer: Yes, chief.

Jack: A police guard, Derek? What's going on?

Derek: It's just a precaution.

Jack: A precaution?

Derek: Yes.

Jack: So what are you telling me, Derek? That my -- my daughter's still under arrest?

Bianca: Rachael --

Rachael: Hmm?

Bianca: All the kids have new outfits laid out for them in their rooms. Would you mind?

Rachael: Of course. I've been dying to see Miranda with the hat on.

Kendall: Ooh, the hat.

Rachael: Let's try on the hats.

Bianca: I can't wait to see it, too.

Rachael: Come here.

Bianca: Go with Rachael.

Kendall: You know, every day, I just -- I had the same thing going over and over in my head. I just pictured Zach alone and hurt and cold. But -- this is really weird -- the one thing that I held on to -- the one thing that actually made me feel better was knowing that he was with Greenlee.

Bianca: Huh. Just the tiny detail that they can't stand to be in the same airspace.

Kendall: I know, I know. I know. It -- I -- it's crazy. I mean, they're -- they're sworn enemies. But when they were in that pit, Greenlee stitched up Zach's head. And then he sucked snake venom out of her arm. I mean, isn't that amazing?

Bianca: Wow. You're forgetting another really amazing part. You. You and Aidan. You guys -- you never stopped. You never gave up hope.

Kendall: Well, for one moment, we did.

Bianca: Oh, Kendall --

Kendall: We gave up.

Bianca: It's -- it's ok. So much time had passed without a word, without a sign of them, and the weather was so terrible, and it's only natural that you would have doubts, that you would jump to the worst-case scenario, but -- but you never let it stop you. You kept going. And so any fears, any doubts that you had -- they didn't stand a chance.

Kendall: Aidan and I aren't exactly heroes. And actually, I am just glad that the whole thing is over. I'm glad it's done. Greenlee and Zach are -- are safe, and they're back. And I'm hungry. I would love to have -- do you want cookies?

Bianca: Kendall --

Kendall: Let's have Christmas cookies for breakfast. I'm starving.

Bianca: Kendall, Kendall --

Kendall: Yes?

Bianca: You and Aidan -- what happened between you two?

Adam: Slater and Greenlee have been found, but the charges against you have not been dismissed.

J.R.: Well, am I lucky, or what? Instead of going down for murder, I've only been toe-tagged for a felony hit-and-run followed by a DUI chaser.

Adam: Come on, we don't have to deal with that now. We got the whole new year ahead of us. Come on. Lucretia is -- Lucretia's made a wonderful breakfast for us.

J.R.: I'm not hungry.

Adam: Oh, come on. Coffee, at least. One of her cranberry muffins.

J.R.: You just don't get it, do you?

Adam: Um -- oh, please, tell me what I don't get. What have I done this time?

J.R.: When they hand out awards in hell for lousy fathers, you're going to retire with the trophy.

Adam: What's gotten into you?

J.R.: What's gotten into me? Hmm.

[J.R. sets a CD on top of Adam's doughnut]

J.R.: Why don't you eat that for breakfast?

Kendall: Aidan and I -- um -- you know, it's just -- you hope and -- and you -- you wish, and you pray. "Please -- please come back, please." And you think that maybe they will. But then -- then your mind starts playing tricks on you. And then you start thinking this isn't going to happen. Nobody gets miracles that big. And there you are. You're alone, and you're afraid. And you give in to the fear. And you don't want to, but you do. You -- you do so that you can -- you need someone. You need something just to -- to make you feel better, to -- to help you get through it -- to say goodbye.

Bianca: It's -- it's ok to be afraid. It's ok to stumble, to doubt God, to doubt everything. There is no shame in admitting that you're scared. And there is no shame in doing what you need to to get through.

Kendall: I should have been stronger.

Bianca: No, stop, stop. You were strong enough. The people you love are safe. That is all that matters.

Kendall: Huh. My sister -- how do you do that? You always make me feel so much better. You make me feel stronger and braver. I miss you.

Bianca: I miss you.

Kendall: Won't you stay? Come on. Can I bribe you? Can I bribe you to stay with the Christmas cookie that I made?

Bianca: Oh, not if you made them.

Jack: Derek -- Derek, what's with the armed cop in front of Greenlee's door? Take your man off, please. Hasn't she been punished enough?

Derek: This isn't about punishment.

Jack: Whoa, whoa -- look, Greenlee was practically buried alive for over a month. She was so beat up that her heart stopped twice since they brought her here. She was dead, Derek, dead.

Derek: I'm sorry, but she's considered a fugitive, and I have to follow the letter of the law until we sort this out and prove otherwise.

Jack: Come on, come on!

Derek: I don't like this any more than you do, but it's the system.

Jack: Yeah, don't tell me about the system. I know the system, but sometimes the system is wrong.

Derek: Sometimes it is.

[Jack sighs as Erica stands nearby listening]

Jack: Hey, sweetheart. Joe, is she giving you any trouble?

Joe: She's a model patient.

Jack: Really?

Joe: Hmm.

Jack: No flying bedpans? Nothing? I'm shocked. Hey, sweetheart.

Greenlee: Hi.

Jack: Look at you, you're getting some color back in those cheeks. That's a good sign.

Greenlee: Oh, well, must be the company.

Joe: Now, I meant what I said about the excitement level.

Jack: We'll keep her tucked in, Joe, I promise.

Aidan: I should go. All right?

Jack: Look at you. It is so good to see you.

Greenlee: I can't believe it. I can't believe I made it all the way home.

Aidan: Joe, these guys can't be here. Either throw them out, or I will.

Joe: Aidan, I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do about it.

Derek: Let it go, Aidan. You can't help her this way.

Joe: Yeah. Aidan -- Aidan -- a word. The police are the least of Greenlee's problems.

Aidan: What is that supposed to mean?

Joe: It means her system shut down completely, so it's seriously compromised.

Aidan: Yeah, but she's going to be all right, right?

Joe: Well, with time, yes, and plenty of rest, she should be.

Aidan: Well, is there anything I can do?

Joe: No, you've done it. It was love that brought her back, and love and faith is going to keep her around and make her stronger.

Greenlee: Thank you, Jack. Thank you for sticking by me through all those rainy, bad days. For loving me and believing in me when it wasn't exactly that easy.

Jack: Well, we made it, though, didn't we? There were some rough patches, for sure, but here we are. I do have a favor to ask of you.

Greenlee: Anything.

Jack: Ok. Could you not call me "Jack" anymore? I'm your father. That's who I am. I'm your -- I'm your dad.

Greenlee: Yeah. Ok, Dad, you got it.

Aidan: You look better.

Zach: I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you.

Aidan: I'm just glad we found you in time.

Zach: Yeah.

Aidan: Zach -- thank you. I know you kept Greenlee alive.

Zach: Yeah, it works both ways.

Aidan: Listen, don't tell Greenlee that the police are here, will you?

Zach: I won't. I didn't know she was that popular. What do I do? I take a number, or just walk in? What do you think, chief? Huh? Anybody? Hey. Is she up for another visitor?

Jack: As long as it's not a cop. Sure, go on in.

Zach: So, what do you call a pony with a sore throat?

Greenlee: A little horse.

Zach: Sticks will be jealous.

Greenlee: I'm jealous. You're mobile.

Zach: You will be.

Greenlee: How is your head holding up?

Zach: I don't know. I'm -- it's all right. You could have left me in that gully, but you didn't.

Greenlee: Zach, I --

Zach: And because of you, I get to kiss my wife, I got to hold my boys, and I'll be around when Spike can hear again, and I'll be around when Ian grows big and strong, and I'm grateful. And I wanted to tell you, I'm sorry for everything I did to you.

J.R.: Did you enjoy it, Dad -- holding on to that DVD?

Adam: J.R., I can explain.

J.R.: You knew I had an alibi, you knew I was innocent, yet you did nothing. You, my beloved father, let me believe that I'd be facing years in prison, that I might've killed someone. Why, Dad? So you could keep me prisoner here a little longer?

Adam: Poor J.R. -- sentenced to live in luxury.

J.R.: It doesn't surprise me anyway, this is classic you. But you want to know what my favorite part was? When you handed me that DVD and asked me to put it in the safe. There I was with my alibi in hand, getting ready to lock it away. Did you enjoy that moment, all that irony?

Adam: I should've known that Dillon bimbo would open her big mouth.

J.R.: You still haven't answered my question. How long were you going to let the legal system chew on me, Dad? I know what you're capable of. But this? Why, to torture me? To prove that I don't have a life unless you allow it?

Adam: I tried to help you, you refused. I bailed you out, you used it against me.

J.R.: So this is my time-out?

Adam: Yeah, how about that kidnapping escapade? I may never recover financially. I lost millions, I lost my company, and all because I was trying to save my son -- the son who didn't need saving. He was just trying to teach me a lesson. The whole time you were arrogant and angry, refusing to help me, refusing to work with me.

J.R.: So this is payback?

Adam: Yeah. I thought I'd teach you a lesson.

J.R.: The only thing you ever taught me was when I was down, you'd grind me even lower. You even took advantage of me when I was -- when I fell off the wagon. What kind of father are you?

Zach: I get it, you know? If you can't forgive me for the things I've done, I'm --

Greenlee: Zach, we've all done things.

Zach: We've all done things. But that -- that doesn't make up for everything, and I just -- I wanted to give you an apology, a sincere apology.

Greenlee: You know, before this, before now, we wasted so much time and energy just being angry and trying to get even with one another. We -- we missed out on all those beautiful things in front of us. They're still here.

Kendall: Um, if you wanted to see Zach --

Aidan: Uh, Zach's with Greenlee.

Kendall: Oh. Good. How is she?

Aidan: She's better, you know, still weak. Joe says that she's going to be like that for a while.

[Kendall holds up a little toy train]

Aidan: Isn't that cute?

Kendall: Yeah, Spike wanted Daddy Zach to have something to play with. You know, uh, the entire hospital is talking about Greenlee. The miracle -- how you helped her breathe again just with the sound of your voice.

Aidan: You know, we should --

Kendall: Look, we should --

Aidan: You go.

Kendall: I -- I wanted to -- what were you going to say?

Aidan: We should talk about what happened between you and me.

Kendall: It never should've happened.

Aidan: Yeah -- um -- but it did.

Kendall: Yeah, uh, I -- I don't even know how we got there. I just remember that I missed Zach so much, and -- and you were missing Greenlee, and -- and everything just seemed hopeless and -- and dark.

Aidan: Yeah.

Kendall: And -- and then --

Aidan: But it's over, and it's forgotten. And you've got Zach back, and I've got Greenlee back, right? That's all that matters.

Kendall: Absolutely.

Aidan: So how about just -- um -- we just -- we don't talk about it again?

Kendall: That works -- that'll work with me. That's -- that's good. You know, Greenlee and Zach are really lucky that you were such a bulldog. I mean, they had everything against them. They -- they had the -- the weather and time and that stupid bomb shelter, and you just wouldn't give up.

Aidan: No, no. No, that was you. You wouldn't give up, all right? You were the one that risked frostbite, you went out there, because you had a feeling. You were very courageous.

Kendall: You're going to make her very happy, Aidan.

Aidan: That's the plan. You know, I should go.

Greenlee: Admitting that you're wrong and asking for forgiveness isn't really you.

Zach: Huh. Hmm.

Greenlee: Does this mean that maybe you're not afraid anymore?

Zach: I'd resigned myself to losing my wife, losing my kids. They're the only thing that I love, and when you come back from that, there's really nothing else to be afraid of.

Derek: Don't start this again, Jack.

Jack: Derek, Greenlee's not guilty of anything.

Derek: But she testified in court to kidnapping Kendall's son.

Jack: But the judge had not accepted her plea.

Derek: And then she fled. Look, you're a former DA, you know how this works, Jack.

Jack: Yes.

Derek: My hands are tied.

Erica: Sweetheart! Oh, I'm so glad to see you, honey!

Bianca: Oh, you, too.

Erica: And where's Miranda?

Bianca: Oh, she's -- you know, between jetlag and Christmas, she's deep in a power nap.

[Phone rings]

Erica: Oh -- yes? Tell her I'll call her back, Val. Val, will you hold all my calls? Oh, honey, how are you? Look at you!

Bianca: How are you?

Erica: Oh, oh -- the show is doing so well. The ratings -- did you see Celine Dion?

Bianca: Yeah, but I -- I actually -- I meant you --

Erica: Honey, can you extend your stay? I really have plans for New Year's. I really want to just -- I'm thinking of taking all of us to someplace really exciting and fun.

Bianca: Mom, you're doing it.

Erica: What?

Bianca: The show, the family, the fabulous Christmas party, New Year's, planning, orchestrating, making sure that everybody else is taken care of.

Erica: Well, of course, I am, honey. I want everything to be perfect, especially while you're here with me.

Bianca: And I adore you for it, but what about you -- and Uncle Jack?

Erica: Oh, Uncle Jack is fine. I am so happy for him. Greenlee's home, Greenlee's going to be all right, so -- all right -- uh -- things between Uncle Jack and me -- they just -- they aren't good. I'm actually afraid that things might be over.

Bianca: "Over"? Wait, wait -- no -- no, Mom, I have had a front-row seat to you and Uncle Jack from the beginning. You've had fights, you've gotten angry, broken up, but you always find a way back to each other. So no matter how bad this feels, no matter how huge it is, it is no match to what the two of you have.

Erica: I always thought that, and I would give anything if that were true. But this time it's different, honey. This time I feel it. It feels like it's over.

J.R.: I try to respect you -- I do. I think you're a brilliant businessman, I see what family means to you. I just thought you might respect me, too.

Adam: Of course, I do.

J.R.: You've kept your hands off my company when I went out on my own, you kept your hands out of my private life -- I mean, for the most part. I was even impressed with how you've been letting Colby make her own choices and not cramming them down her throat.

Adam: Thank you.

J.R.: You've reached out to Krystal, accepted Jenny. I was starting to think that maybe my dad can learn. Maybe he learned to love people without choking the life out of them. And just then, when I think that we, this family, has a chance, you go and pull something like this.

Adam: I don't claim to be a saint. My family comes first.

J.R.: No, you're just as toxic as you've always been. You claim that you want us close, but then you slam us any way that you can. You've done it to me how many times, and Colby? That's why you're alone with a bunch of -- unopened gifts.

Adam: I wanted you home.

J.R.: So you orchestrated a house arrest? You're pathetic.

Greenlee: Just -- there's the one, and it's -- um -- ok, there's a blue boat, and then there's a red boat, and they collide, and what happened? What happened, what happened?

Zach: The punch line happened.

Greenlee: Yeah, what's the punch line?

Zach: Why can't you remember stuff? Hey.

Greenlee: He has a million of them -- they are all horrible.

Zach: I have two of them -- and you can't remember one.

Greenlee: Oh --

Zach: All right --

[Zach groans]

Zach: I'm going to go find my wife and give her a kiss. Get better.

Greenlee: Yeah, you, too.

Aidan: Hey. You ok?

Greenlee: Hi. Yeah, I'm -- I'm tired but happy. You saw that, right?

Aidan: Yeah.

Greenlee: Zach and I were laughing?

Aidan: Yeah, I saw it.

Greenlee: Ok, good, because I'm going to need a witness -- and that's not it. We weren't just laughing. He apologized, Aidan.

Aidan: Zach Slater apologize -- wow. That's now two miracles in one week.

Zach: Hey, wife.

Kendall: Hey, husband. You are supposed to be in bed.

Zach: All right.

Kendall: All right -- oh --

Zach: Come on.

Kendall: No, no, no, no, no.

[Zach growls]

Kendall: Whoa, easy, easy there, champ, ok? Yeah, you're definitely feeling better, clearly.

Zach: I'm feeling better. What -- what's all this?

Kendall: This is for you. This is -- here, this --

Zach: You want to play choo-choo with me?

Kendall: Maybe later. Spikey brought this, he --

[Zach groans]

Kendall: He wanted you to have something to play with, didn't want you to be bored.

Zach: I wouldn't be bored with you my bed. Derek showed up and he said he has proof that it wasn't J.R. that ran me down.

Kendall: Oh, so then -- so then J.R. must've remembered? That's -- well, call my crazy, but I'm actually really glad for him. What?

Zach: Huh?

Kendall: Well, what?

Zach: When I was in the bunker, I thought about a lot of things.

Kendall: Mm-hmm?

Zach: I thought about beer, and I thought about hockey and -- and food that's not in cans and, mostly, I thought about you. And when I thought about you, I mostly thought about this spot right here, right there. I thought about that for hours.

Kendall: Hours?

Zach: Yeah. I missed you, all of you. Come here.

[Zach growls]

[Kendall chuckles]

Zach: And I'm never going to lose you again.

Kendall: Don't you even try. Don't.

[Zach growls]

Zach: Oh, man.

Kendall: Oh, do you know how lucky we are?

Zach: Mm-hmm.

Kendall: We are so lucky. We are, we're so lucky. We are going to walk out of this hospital and right back to our amazing life. And then there's Greenlee. And there she is in her room, and there's a cop outside her door. I mean, are they really going to arrest her again?

Zach: We're going to make it right.

Kendall: Yeah, well, we have to. I mean, we -- we have to do something, and I don't know what to do, but I can't tell the truth. Because if I do that, I could go to jail. And I just got you back, and I -- our family is finally going to be together, and I can't take that chance.

Zach: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

Kendall: I mean, I could go to prison for years.

Zach: That not gonna happen.

Greenlee: Thanks.

[Knock on door]

Greenlee: Come in.

Greenlee: Hey.

Kendall: Hey. Uh -- do you mind if I talk to Greenlee alone?

Aidan: Yeah, sure, you can -- just make sure she doesn't line-dance.

Kendall: Right, I'll do that.

Greenlee: Wait a second. A police officer? What's going on here? Why is he guarding me?

Aidan: Oh, man.

Jack: Aidan.

Aidan: Any luck?

Jack: Well, actually, no. I got two "he's out of the office right now," three "we'll have to get back to you on that," and one "not a chance in hell." It would appear very clearly that nobody wants to help Greenlee get out of this.

Erica: I hurt Jack, and it's as if -- it's as if he's closed his heart to me. Uh --

Bianca: You and Uncle Jack, you're just going through a rough time.

Erica: No -- no. We don't even fight anymore. Jack doesn't yell. There's no back-and-forth, there's no give-and-take, there's nothing. I mean, there's silence. It's as if I don't even exist for him anymore.

Bianca: That -- Mom -- "you don't exist" -- Erica Kane?

Erica: Yeah.

Bianca: No, that's impossible. I've seen the way you love, I know you, and I've seen the way you fight for what you want.

Erica: I want to fight. But for the first time in my life, I don't know how. And I'm just not sure that love is enough anymore here.

Bianca: It's not just that you love each other, it's -- it's the way you love Uncle Jack, the way he loves you. The way you understand each other so well, the way each of you knows exactly what the other needs. I know that if you want to be with Uncle Jack, you're going to figure out a way to do it.

Erica: Huh. You are just the Christmas gift that I needed.

Bianca: Oh -- oh, Mom.

Adam: J.R., you're angry, you've made your point. But you can't leave.

J.R.: This is not me running to jump on another tramp steamer, or wave any sort of threat. This is me simply saying -- "Goodbye."

Adam: J.R., where are you going? You don't even have a place to sleep.

J.R.: I'll work something out.

Adam: No, please! J.R., don't -- don't do this.

J.R.: Good luck -- with your other kids.

Adam: He'll be back. He's my son, he'll be back.

Aidan: The cops want to throw Greenlee back in jail as soon as she's on her feet. Now, what do you propose we do about that?

Greenlee: What's going on here? Why is there a policeman at my door?

Kendall: Ok, Greenlee, relax, all right? Derek just said it's a routine procedure, ok, so don't -- don't be upset, you shouldn't worry about it.

Greenlee: No, Kendall, don't lie to me. They're sending me back to prison, aren't they?

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Babe (to Bianca): How are you?

Bianca (to Babe): That's a complicated question these days.

Kendall: I will not let them send you to prison, Greenlee.

Aidan (to Zach): These charges -- they need to disappear.

Krystal (to Tad): I want you to make love to me.
