Adam: Put an alibi in your stocking, or not? Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.
[Father Clarence watches from outside the window as J.R. walks in]
Adam: Well. Are you still having nothing to do with me, or will you have a preholiday drink with your father?
[J.R. takes the bottle of liquor from Adam and throws it against the wall]
Richie: You call him?
Ryan: I'm taking you back to the Psych ward, Richie.
Richie: I'm not going anywhere with you.
Aidan: Greenlee. You're back. Thank God you're back. We got her.
Quentin: Good. Now, get over here and help me out, man. Your friend just went down the hole.
Aidan: Look, they've been digging down there, all right? Those walls are unstable. We need to get them out of there now.
Quentin: What we need is backup. Still no signal.
Aidan: We're going to have to get them out ourselves. Kendall!
Kendall: Everything is caving in. It's going to cave in! We have to get out of here now! Hurry!
Aidan: We're coming!
Aidan: Hey, what are you doing? Give me that.
Quentin: Stay -- hey, I got it. Look, your girlfriend needs you, man. I'll holler when I have a way to haul up.
Aidan: All right, let me -- let me help you.
Quentin: Let's go.
Kendall: Oh, my God. Zach? Zach? Zach, it's Kendall. I'm here, honey, I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. No, I'm right here. Yeah, I love you so much, I do.
Zach: Ahem, Kendall --
Kendall: Oh, thank God. Thank God. Oh -- oh -- Zach -- ok, I'm right here. I'm right here.
Aidan: Kendall! Are you ok down there?
Kendall: For now! Zach opened his eyes! Aidan, where are you?
Aidan: Quentin's coming down! Well, listen, you know how to rig the harness for Zach, right?
Quentin: Yeah, I got it.
Quentin: All right. Good?
Aidan: Yeah, I'm good.
Quentin: Hey, wish me luck. Let's do it.
Kendall: Zach, I'm still here. I'm not leaving you, ok? I'm never going to leave you again. I'm right here. I'm going to get you help, ok? They're coming right now to get you help. Come on. Ok, ok, they're here. We need to get him out of here now.
Quentin: All right. You first. I'll get him ready.
Kendall: No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not leaving my husband.
Quentin: Look, you need to get out of here.
Kendall: No, he needs to go first.
Quentin: It'll take too much time.
Kendall: Listen, listen, Quentin, listen to me, ok? You don't know me, all right? So quit wasting time arguing, because you're never going to win.
Quentin: All right, all right, look -- I'll make the harness bigger, and then you can help me get him inside, ok?
Kendall: Ok, ok. Just hurry, please.
Adam: I know you're having a hard time right now, J.R.
J.R.: And this is supposed to make it easier? I'm recovering, you're waving an open bar under my nose.
Adam: Several years ago, I asked you if you wanted me to take this out of --
J.R.: No, it -- it's ok. It's ok. Go ahead, slug it down.
Adam: I'm sorry. I'll have the housekeeper take it out first thing. There's something else bothering you, isn't there?
J.R.: My blackout -- the night everyone thinks I ran over Zach Slater.
Adam: That's not what I think.
J.R.: I just keep getting these flashes like they're coming back to me.
Adam: You're remembering more now?
J.R.: Yeah, bits and pieces.
Adam: Nothing specific?
J.R.: No -- well, just that someone was there, and they were -- yeah, I don't know where or who they were, but it's like they're trying to get me to confess.
Adam: Confess? To what?
J.R.: I don't know, I don't remember. Just that they wanted to hear about every nasty thing I've ever done.
Adam: You know, maybe you're pressing too hard. Just give it some more time.
J.R.: Are you crazy? This is hit-and-run, I could go down for murder.
Adam: Those charges will never stick.
J.R.: And you can't possibly know that!
Adam: Well, no, no, of course not, but I -- it just -- it hurts me to see you so worked up over all this. I -- just go a little slower, J.R.
J.R.: You know what? This isn't even helping. I don't even know why I came downstairs.
Adam: Damn it, J.R., you don't need to remember what happened.
Ryan: You go ahead and try and get past me, Richie, go ahead.
Richie: Oh, you'd love that, wouldn't you -- a chance to beat the living --
Babe: Ok, stop it, both of you. Richie, please.
Richie: You called him because you're afraid of me?
Babe: It's not just that, ok? I have a 3-year-old son who's going through enough right now without me having to explain this to him.
Richie: I know, I know, I know. That's -- that's what I --
Babe: I don't want to hear it, Richie, please. Please, just do whatever you have to do, just leave me out of it, ok?
Richie: Will you please just let me explain this --
Ryan: You heard her, Richie.
Richie: Anything you say, Ryan.
Derek: Ok, Novak, furlough's over.
Babe: You called the police?
Richie: I did.
Kendall: We're ready. We're going to get you out of here right now, ok? Ok.
Quentin: Ok, let's do it! Start pulling, Aidan!
Kendall: Ok, ok, Zach, I'm going to be right behind you, all right? You're going to be fine. I'll be right behind you. All right, careful. All right, Zach. All right. Zach -- Zach, you're ok.
Quentin: Oh, look out!
[Father Clarence continues to watch from outside]
J.R.: I don't have to remember? What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Adam: I --
J.R.: Answer me!
Adam: I -- I just mean that the -- the legal process takes time. Things could change for the better.
J.R.: So, what, I'm just supposed to kick back and chill?
Adam: It's the holidays, J.R. Come on, it's -- you're home.
J.R.: I'm in a house, under house arrest -- a place where I said I'd never come back to live again.
Adam: You just won't meet me halfway, will you?
J.R.: No offense, Dad, but your version of halfway is always your way. I want my life back, and the only way I can do that is to figure out what happened that night.
[The front door blows open]
Adam: Whoa. What in blazes -- oh -- no one here. Not even a breeze.
J.R.: Maybe it was all that hot air.
Adam: Huh. Wait, where are you going?
J.R.: I got to get out of here.
Adam: No, you can't just walk out -- you're under house arrest.
J.R.: What, are you going to turn me in?
Adam: I'll get my coat.
Father Clarence: We have some business, Adam.
Adam: Father, um, I don't know how you got past the gates, but I'm in a hurry, and I've already given to the Miranda Center. So if you'll just --
Father Clarence: Oh, that was very generous of you, Adam, but I was hoping we could talk about the presents you haven't given out yet -- the ones locked in your wall safe.
Kendall: You saved my life.
Quentin: This one's about to completely go. And the other two are buckling -- start buckling.
Kendall: What are you doing?
Quentin: Come on! Throw the rope back quick!
Aidan: Just a sec!
Quentin: Hurry up, man!
Aidan: Hang on! It's coming!
Quentin: I'm going to rig this the same way I did with your husband.
Kendall: All right -- hang on so Aidan can pull you up, too.
Quentin: There's no time, it's too much weight.
Kendall: No, no, no, there's not going to be any time to drop the rope back down to you!
Quentin: Look, take her up!
Kendall: No, no, come with me. Please, please -- hang on to me. Damn it, hang on to me, Quentin, please -- no, no, you'll be buried down there! Quentin, please! You'll be buried down there!
Aidan: I got you, I got you, I got you. Come here, come here.
Kendall: Ok, Aidan, we have got to get Quentin out of there fast -- I mean, like, right now.
Aidan: I know, I know.
Aidan: Check Greenlee's breathing, though, she's not breathing right.
Aidan: Hang on, Quentin, I'm getting the rope down to you as fast as I can!
Kendall: Hey, we got you out of there, all right? We're going to get you help. We're going to get you help right now, ok?
Zach: Help Greenlee.
Aidan: Quentin? Forget the harness, just grab the rope. Can you hear me? Quentin!
Babe: Can I talk to Richie for a minute?
Derek: I need to call the hospital. Make it quick.
Ryan: I'm not going anywhere.
Babe: Richie, I don't understand. You -- you broke out of the hospital to come here, but then you call to turn yourself in? Why?
Richie: I've caused you enough trouble. There's nowhere else to go, so I -- they serve three squares a day in the Psych ward just like prison, so it's no big deal.
Ryan: Is this where we're supposed to feel sorry for you?
Babe: Ryan, please.
Richie: Christmas the past seven years I've spent in a cell. I guess I liked the idea of spending my last one a little differently -- you know, sharing the holiday spirit with someone special? But I didn't think it through -- how it'd throw things off for you? When I showed up, the way you looked at me -- I -- I knew you were afraid of me, and I never wanted that. Anyway, so I -- I saw the phone, and I thought, "Why don't you do the right thing for once, Novak?" I'm sorry, Babe.
Adam: I don't know how you cased this joint, but if you think you can disguise yourself and then waltz in here and rob me -- well, you're wrong, my friend. Oh -- what now?
Father Clarence: You don't have to call the police, Adam, I'm not a thief.
Adam: You're not a priest, either.
Father Clarence: Oh, I thought you might need some company.
Adam: No, I don't need any company. Now, what's your angle?
Father Clarence: Well, you have a very large family, how sad it is that you're spending the holiday alone.
Adam: My son was just here -- until you picked the lock. It was you that threw that door open, wasn't it?
Father Clarence: J.R. doesn't want to be here. And Krystal, your wife? She's moved out. She doesn't even want to take your phone calls.
Adam: Really? What did you do, topple the relay tower?
Father Clarence: Quite a nice place you have here, Adam. Not bad for a poor boy from Pigeon Hollow.
Adam: Oh, pigeon -- Pigeon Hollow, of course. Palmer Cortlandt -- he put you up to this, didn't he? What, is he hoping I have a heart attack so he'll have something to chortle about over his Christmas dinner?
Father Clarence: No, Palmer has too many issues of his own to worry about.
[The picture falls off the wall as the safe pops open]
Father Clarence: Oops.
Adam: Ah. They teaching you parlor tricks at the seminary now, Father?
Father Clarence: There's a DVD that could clear your son of some very serious charges, and there is an adoption document that could reunite Tad Martin and his lost daughter, Kate.
Adam: There's no way you could possibly know that.
Father Clarence: You have two of the best Christmas gifts that anyone can give, and yet you haven't even wrapped them yet.
Adam: That's enough. You're good, I'll grant you that. But this floorshow's over. I want you out of here!
Father Clarence: I would like you to explain something to me.
Adam: I owe you no explanations, whoever the hell you are.
Father Clarence: Christmas is a time for families to get together in the spirit of love. You have the means to do that, yet you refuse. Now, why is that?
J.R.: Merry Christmas, Mom. It's not so merry out here. Then again, you probably already know that.
[J.R. touches Dixie Cooney Martin's tombstone which also states "Always in our Hearts"]
J.R.: I need your help, Mom.
Aidan: Get out of the way, get back!
[Aidan and Quentin cough]
Aidan: Well, we cut that one close, huh?
Quentin: Oh, you ain't lying, man. Thanks, man.
Aidan: No, thank you. Good job. Well done.
Quentin: Yeah, but we're not done yet. We got to -- we got to get them to the hospital.
Aidan: Well, you said the van was parked down by the road, right?
Quentin: Yeah, but there's no way to get it here, though.
Aidan: Ok, so we take the sled. Put Zach on the sled, I'll carry Greenlee.
Quentin: All right.
Kendall: All right, all right. I -- I need his arm. All right, come on. Ok, I got him. Watch out for his arm, Aidan.
Kendall: Ok. Be careful.
Aidan: I got you.
Kendall: All rig. Ok, good, all right.
Aidan: You'll be ok.
Kendall: Ok. Zach, we got you, all right? We're going to get you out of here, we're going to -- we're going to get you home -- home where you're going to be safe, ok? All right, got him?
Aidan: I promised I'd come for you, and I did. I love you, Greenlee. Don't ever leave me again.
Kendall: Be careful. Please, please be careful with him.
Quentin: Precious cargo, huh?
Quentin: All right.
Kendall: Got him? All right.
Quentin: All right, let's get the hell out of here.
Aidan: Let's go.
Kendall: All right, let me help you -- ready?
Quentin: All right.
[Kendall and Quentin grunt]
Kendall: All right. Ok, hang in there, Zach.
Aidan: Oh, baby -- ok, she's still unconscious. Listen, I'll drive. As soon as we get a signal, I want you to call Pine Valley Hospital, let them know we're coming, all right?
Quentin: All right. We got one more.
Aidan: Oh, Greenlee -- Greenlee, it's going to warm up, all right, as soon as we get this van going, ok? We're going to be at Pine Valley Hospital as soon as you know it. What happened to your arm?
Quentin: Hey, I need a hand over here!
Aidan: I'm coming.
Kendall: We got you, Zach. It's ok.
Aidan: I've got his legs.
Kendall: You're going to be fine. You're going to be fine, honey, ok, just hang in there. Ok, come on, come on.
Quentin: Get him over a little bit!
Kendall: Got his legs?
Aidan: All right, ready?
Kendall: Ok, ok, ok. Hey, just hang in there, ok? Ok -- oh, oh --
Aidan: Listen --
Kendall: Careful, careful.
Aidan: If anything happens to either one of them, let me know, all right?
Kendall: Yes, yes, yes, I will yell, I will scream, just -- just hurry, Aidan, please! Ok, I'm right -- I'm right here, honey. All right, you're not looking good.
Adam: How about this -- whatever Palmer is paying you, I'll double it. And then you tell me how you got all this information, and then you get the hell out of my house.
Father Clarence: I will, as soon as I finish what I came for.
Adam: All right, fine. Say your piece. I'll pretend I'm listening.
Father Clarence: Your mother was a beautiful woman.
Adam: Now, how would you know -- oh. Go on.
Father Clarence: She died when you were quite young -- it was around this time of the year. She'd been sick, and your father had already died. It must've been hard on you -- and your brother and your sister -- not having someone to offer you the love and comfort you needed. Now your son is going through a terrible time, and if you want, you can offer him the love and comfort he needs. You're holding back the key to his freedom.
Adam: The DVD.
Father Clarence: Yes, you think that if you give it to him -- his freedom -- you'll lose him. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Adam: And the truth will set him free.
Father Clarence: Without you losing him, yes?
Adam: I just -- I wish I could be more certain.
Father Clarence: Have faith.
Adam: "Certificate of Adoption."
Father Clarence: Hmm, Kathy/Kate. She already has a loving father out there, and you have the power to reunite them. Now, whatever you think of Tad Martin, surely you won't deny this child this wonderful opportunity. It was last Christmas, this time, that she lost both her --
Adam: Kath-- Kate lost both her parents, yes.
Father Clarence: So you understand how marvelous it would be, how it could be, if you do the right thing? And you have time to do the right thing.
Adam: I -- uh -- I don't know what to say.
Father Clarence: How about, "Merry Christmas"?
Adam: Huh. Merry Christmas, yes -- whoever you are.
Father Clarence: Oh, just consider me a friend of the family. I know my way out.
Adam: You're no friend of this family, you two-bit con artist! Nobody tells me how to run this family.
J.R.: I was doing ok there for a while. But then -- I don't know -- I -- I messed up. I got drunk again, then everything else went to hell after that. Everything. I know I let you down. All those promises that I made you and Colby and Babe and Tad -- everyone -- I botched everything up. You want to know what the real kicker is, though? I'm going to have to pay for something that I probably didn't do. I mean, can you believe that? I blacked out, and I still can't remember. I know that you probably can't help me, Mom. I just want you to know that I'm trying to do everything right. Well, anyway, um, whatever happens, I want you to know that I'm going to stay on my recovery, and Little A -- I want my son to be able to look up to me. And I want -- I want you to be proud of me. I want to -- I want to try to do everything the right way. Most importantly, I want -- I just want to be a better man.
Amanda's voice: Why don't you tell me every mean, dirty --
J.R.'s voice: Dirty --
Amanda's voice: Nasty --
J.R.'S voice: Nasty --
Amanda's voice: Low-down, evil thing you have ever done?
D.J.'s voice: And we're coming to you live from the arena, where Genghis Tron is playing their one sold-out area appearance.
Amanda's voice: It's November 15, 2007, 7:30 p.m.
J.R.: This isn't any fun.
Amanda: Oh, no, no, no, it is, it is. It's like -- it's like confession.
J.R.: So if I confess, will you --
Amanda: Hmm -- oh, yeah. We will do whatever you want.
J.R.: Oh, my God, Mom. I remember. I remember everything that happened that night. I remember.
Aidan: Call Pine Valley Hospital again. There must be a signal now.
Quentin: Yeah. Just watch the ice.
Aidan: I just hope she's going to make it.
Quentin: She's tough, Aidan -- she made it this far.
Kendall: Please get better, Greenlee. I have so much to make up for. I'm sorry. Greenlee, I'm so, so sorry.
Derek: All right, let's get this show on the road.
Richie: I know you'll have a great Christmas. Spoil Little A with something cool under the tree, ok?
Derek: Come on, let's go.
Ryan: You know, when Annie first tried to tell me about it, I couldn't believe it, and up until about a minute ago, I still couldn't.
Babe: What are you talking about?
Ryan: What I just saw in here -- how he is with you. He -- um -- he actually does care. It's not all an act.
Babe: Oh, so you think he actually might be human, someone with feelings?
Ryan: With you, yeah, I do, actually. With everybody else, I think he just works angles.
Babe: And, of course, you never work people, do you, Ryan?
Ryan: Ok, where did that come from?
Babe: Oh, I don't know. Thanksgiving maybe -- how you wanted me to play double agent to get the goods on Richie? Or how about it was when you faked Annie being shot, and you were going to blame him for it?
Ryan: Ok, Babe, I get it. Um --
Babe: Did you -- did you want me to sleep with him, so maybe I could pass along a little pillow talk -- you know, find out his master plan for getting you and Annie to murder him for this -- this insurance scam you keep talking about?
Ryan: Just listen to me for a second, please, Babe, ok?
Babe: Maybe -- maybe Richie still has some of that poison, and I can sweet-talk him into taking it himself. Would that work -- have me talk Richie into committing suicide?
Ryan: Ok, stop, please.
Babe: What do you want from me, Ryan? What do you want me to do to Richie this time?
Ryan: Nothing. Nothing. As far as Richie's concerned, all I want you to do is stay the hell away from him.
Joe: All right, listen up. Both patients -- coags, CBCs, and lytes, for starting. Nick?
Nick: Run two large-bore IVs and get Radiology in here for fast examine.
Joe: That's it -- go, people. You said over the phone that she'd been unconscious?
Kendall: She was out -- she was out the whole way here, Joe. And listen to her breathing -- it sounds terrible.
Aidan: She's got something on her arm. Look -- some kind of cut.
Joe: Yeah, punctures.
Zach: Snake --
Aidan: A snake bite.
Joe: Anti-venom workup, cube two, stat.
Kendall: She'll be ok, right? Even -- even though she was -- she was bitten, she'll be fine?
Joe: All right, cube two.
Kendall: Joe -- Joe, you --
Joe: Wait -- EKG, warming blanket, and have a crash cart ready.
Kendall: Joe, you didn't answer me.
Joe: Look, she's in good hands. Let's take a look at Zach, ok?
Nick: We're going to have to take a closer look at your head, clean that out, and restitch. You kept yourself from bleeding out -- good job.
Zach: Greenlee did that. She saved me.
[Safe beeps as Adam relocks it]
Adam: Oh, where the devil did you wander off to, J.R.?
[Adam turns around and sees the safe open again]
Adam: The devil -- this -- certificate.
[Father Clarence watches Adam from outside the window]
Amanda: Oh -- J.R., what the hell?
J.R.: Very smooth. Very clever.
Amanda: Oh, my God. Even if I knew what you were talking about, it would not get you in bed with me. Get out!
J.R.: I know exactly what you did. And I know that I was with you the night that Zach got hit.
Babe: So what is it now, Ryan, another plan?
Ryan: No -- look, Babe, that whole Thanksgiving thing was wrong, all right? It was -- what we asked you to do. Annie and I should never have even brought it up to you.
Babe: Yeah, but you did, and it wasn't the only time, Ryan.
Ryan: What do you want me to say? You let Richie Novak get inside your head, and then you get sucked into his world, and you start playing by his rules, all right, which is why I really think that you should stay away from the guy.
Babe: Weren't you listening?
Ryan: Well, I was listening -- I heard him say goodbye to you. But my guess is that he's going to keep trying and keep trying and keep trying, unless we find a way to lock him up in that place for good.
Babe: You want him to die in there, don't you?
Ryan: He can't be saved. All right? I know he wants you to believe that he can be, but he can't. It's a con, so don't buy it.
Nick: For what you've been through, you're in pretty fair condition, Mr. Slater, but I want to order a CAT scan just as a precaution.
Kendall: Ok, so if that checks out, then. Will Zach be able to go home?
Nick: Not just yet, but that's what we're aiming for. Excuse me.
Zach: Home -- I like the sound of that.
Kendall: It hasn't been home without you.
Zach: The boys -- are they --
Kendall: They're -- they're with Rachael and Josh, and they're fine -- except missing you like crazy.
Zach: And Ian's home? I wanted to be there --
Kendall: I know, I -- I know, I know you did, I know. But you will make up for it the minute you walk through that door, I promise.
Zach: And Spike's surgery --
Kendall: Yes, he's fine, he's fine.
Kendall: Um -- it all went very well. But we won't know until we activate the implant how well Spike will do with it. But after this -- it's a season for miracles, Zach -- you are living proof.
Zach: Merry Christmas.
Kendall: Merry Christmas to you, honey. I love you so much. I do, so much.
Derek: Joe, I got a call. Slater and Greenlee Smythe were found in a bomb shelter out near Montpellier.
Joe: They both already have been brought in. Greenlee is still unconscious.
Derek: And Zach -- he's in bad shape, too?
Joe: Yeah. There's some blunt trauma consistent with being struck by a car. But I'll tell you, Derek, with injuries that severe, most people are not going to get up and walk away from the accident site.
Derek: But I'm sure we'll be able to sort it out once they can talk.
Joe: Yeah. Oh. Excuse me, I have to take this.
Derek: I appreciate it, Joe.
Joe: I'll keep you informed.
Derek: Yeah, thank you, Joe. Ok, Novak, on through and down the hall. This way, son.
Aidan: I'm sorry to keep bothering you, but shouldn't there be, you know, some other people in here doing something? I mean, she's -- Joe? Listen, every time I look at her, she seems to be getting worse and not better. Is it -- what is it, the snakebite?
Joe: I'm afraid she's up against more than just a snakebite. All our labs indicate severe dehydration.
Aidan: Well, how severe?
Joe: Her kidneys are shutting down. A lot of stress on her liver and other organs, as well.
Joe: Code blue.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Adam: I have some news for you, Martin.
[Joe applies defibrillator paddles to Greenlee]
Kendall: No, no, no. This is not happening, no.
Aidan: Greenlee --
