Kendall: Don't talk about Zach in the past tense.
Aidan: Look, I hate it, too, all right, but we have to accept it. Zach and Greenlee are gone.
Kendall: Is that how you talk to your Special-Ops buddies? "Sorry, guys, there's nothing else I can do, because I'm a quitter."
Aidan: You better watch it, Kendall.
Kendall: Oh, really? Really? Why? I'm not afraid of you, Aidan. I'm not scared of you at all. You're a coward.
Aidan: And you're in denial.
Kendall: Ok, you know what? I am so done with you and your negative, pessimistic bull!
Aidan: Where are you going?
Kendall: I am going to find Zach and Greenlee. And when she asks about you, I will tell her that you gave up on her, because you thought that she was dead.
Zach: What's wrong?
Greenlee: I'm just still cold. I'm tired and thirsty and hungry and --
Zach: Come on, get some rest.
Greenlee: I knew that it -- that we were in trouble when -- when you started being nice to me. That's when I knew it -- it was over, that it was the end.
Greenlee: What's it like? I know that you've done this before. What's it like to die?
Boy: Santa Claus?
Ryan: Well, well, well, well. You look excited. You excited for the Christmas party?
Emma: Yes, Daddy.
Ryan: Yes, of course, you are.
Ryan: Hey. Hi. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. Why such a big hug?
Emma: Mommy's happy because Santa's coming.
Annie: Ok, thanks. You look so beautiful.
Ryan: Here we go. Here we go.
Annie: So beautiful.
["We Wish You a Merry Christmas" plays]
Ryan: Hello, everybody! Hey!
Annie: Hello! Hi, Jenny.
Tad: Merry Christmas.
Ryan: Yeah, Merry Christmas.
Tad: Can't believe you made it.
Ryan: Are you kidding me? We wouldn't miss a Miranda Center party, never.
Annie: Kendall was supposed to host the party.
Tad: Yeah, I know -- there is that.
Colby: Oh --
Boy: Let me see.
Colby: Wait --
Boy: Let me see.
J.R.: I realize that you're over at the party right now, but I need you to come to the mansion right away.
Babe: Why? What's wrong?
J.R.: The night that I blacked out and I maybe ran over Zach Slater -- it's starting to come back to me.
Babe: Ok, I'm on my way.
Adam: You remembered something that happened the night of the accident? Why didn't you tell me?
J.R.: Because I have it covered.
Adam: Yes, yeah, of course. You're -- you're your own man now, you don't need your father's help.
J.R.: You got me out on bail and I appreciate that. I'm only going along with this for my son, not you, so stay out of it.
Adam: You don't know this now, but someday you will. Someday you'll realize how much I love you, and I'll never be more proud.
Amanda's voice: Why don't you tell me every mean, dirty --
Amanda: Nasty, lowdown, evil thing you have ever done.
Amanda: A toast. Ah. A toast to Mother. I did it. I got them back for both of us. And -- huh -- to the Chandlers. Yes. To Adam -- thank you for the 5 mil and this phat yacht. And to J.R. -- thank you for being a horn dog and a lush. You can both kiss my filthy-rich behind.
["We Wish You a Merry Christmas" plays]
Babe: Come on.
Colby: Hey, you're leaving?
Colby: But it's Jenny's first Christmas party.
Babe: It's really important, Colby.
Colby: How important?
Babe: Well, let's just say that any chance we have to be together as a family right now, we really need to take it.
Tad: So, I understand you decided to retain the legal services of Satan and associates?
Krystal: Has the eggnog affected your memory, Tad? You're the one that brought an attorney into our private life.
Tad: Because of Adam. It's not bad enough he's in our lives in any way, shape or form? You've decided you want him to be your legal strategist?
Krystal: What are you talking about?
Tad: You haven't discussed tactics with Adam at all?
Krystal: About Jenny? Are -- are you kidding me? Why? What did Adam say?
Tad: Well, um, let's just say he offered me a trade of sorts, and I think I'll leave it up to him to give you the details. Excuse me.
Babe: Hey, Mama. I really got to go, J.R. needs me.
Krystal: You know what? I'm -- I'm going to go with you.
Colby: Oh, me, too.
Babe: Oh, Colby, you don't have to go.
Colby: Tad and Krystal are fighting over our baby because of my dad. J.R. might go to prison, and you said we need to be together as a family, and that's what I want to do.
Krystal: Ok, could you just give me a second?
Colby: Hey, Babe's going over to my dad's to see J.R.
Tad: Ok. Well, you make sure you give him a hug for me, ok?
Colby: Thanks, Tad.
Krystal: Hi. You be a good girl, Jenny, ok? And listen, we're going to have a good Christmas.
Babe: Ok -- oh, hi.
Tad: Well, Merry Christmas to you, too.
Aidan: You're really starting to annoy me. What do you want to do, die of pneumonia?
Kendall: No, I want to find Zach!
Aidan: You go out into those woods, I'm not coming after you again.
Kendall: Oh, promise? Who in the hell do you think you are?
Aidan: Well, I have searched every inch of those woods, and now they're covered in ice and snow.
Kendall: Ok, you know what, Aidan? I swear to God, if I hear one more time that you think it's over, I'm going to scream.
Aidan: Oh, you don't think I want to scream, Kendall? I want to tear this whole place apart, but it's not going to do any good -- it's not going to bring them back, is it?
Kendall: You don't want me to find Zach, do you? You don't. You think that I ruined Greenlee's life for nothing and this is my punishment. Do you think that I should lose my husband?
Aidan: Your husband is a nasty piece of work that deserves --
Kendall: What? What? Deserves what -- a slow, agonizing death? Say it, Aidan, say it! Just say it. You want this to happen. You want Zach to suffer, you want us to suffer. This is perfect for you, this is just great -- me stuck in here, and Zach out there.
Aidan: Yeah, well, Greenlee is out there, too! You forget that?
Kendall: Aidan, you hate me so much that you're willing to just give up the search and let them die?
Aidan: Stop talking.
Kendall: Oh, I know, I know. I know -- maybe you and Greenlee -- did you guys put together some -- some revenge plan, is that it? Where is she? Where is she?
Kendall: Where's Greenlee? What, is she hiding somewhere safe and warm, while my husband is out there lost and alone in the freezing cold? Aidan -- Aidan, answer me!
Aidan: Come here!
Kendall: Answer me! Answer me. What are you going to do? What are you going to do, huh? You going to kill me? You going to kill me? I am already dying, Aidan, ok? I am already dying. My heart is breaking for my husband and for my children, and my family has suffered enough pain. Now, find me my husband! Find me my husband! Get me my husband!
Greenlee: I've seen people die before -- Leo went over the falls and Ryan went over a cliff. Both times it -- it killed me. But by some miracle, I -- I was ok, I was alive again. I came back. This time, there aren't going to be any miracles. When you were Alexander Cambias, Jr., when you were that person, you made him die in a car explosion. I mean, I know it's not the same thing, and it wasn't really death, but what did that feel like? What -- what were your thoughts? How did you feel?
Zach: I felt free. And I felt alive. And there was no more pain.
Greenlee: Huh. That doesn't sound so bad, actually. Zach, I'm really scared, and I don't know how to be brave. I don't know how to die. Will you help me?
["God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" plays]
Ryan: So what did Richie do this time?
Annie: It's -- it's what I did. I -- I went to see him.
Ryan: I don't understand. I mean, we locked him up in a Psych ward so that he would stay away from us.
Annie: I -- I guess that wasn't good enough. I wanted to rub it in. For once, I wanted to feel like I had some kind of power. I wanted to show Richie what it felt like to beat him at his own game. It was a mistake.
Ryan: Why? What did he do to you?
Annie: He just did what he always does -- got in my head.
Ryan: As long as he's locked in that place, he can't hurt you --
Annie: Ryan, you can put him in a prison, in a mental institution, a coffin -- it doesn't matter. My brother will always be with me.
Ryan: That's not true. I mean, we're -- we're getting our lives back.
Annie: Richie ripped apart my life with my mom and my dad. And now I finally have this new life with you and with Emma and Spike, and I'm afraid Richie's going to destroy that, too.
Tad: Merry Christmas. How are you? Good to see you. How you holding up?
Jack: Still standing.
Tad: Yeah? Keep the faith. They're going to find Greenlee, I know it. I mean, Aidan's out there putting everything he's got into the search.
Jack: I'm really grateful for everything Aidan is doing.
Tad: It turns out he's kind of grateful for your daughter, so --
Jack: Yeah, well --
Tad: Oh, my Lord, I begged them not to let her out.
Jack: I'm going to help your mom with these packages.
Tad: Yeah. Oh.
Julia: Hey, you.
Julia: Ah -- I just saw Krystal leave. Is that what you're so bah humbug about?
Tad: I decided to go ahead with suing her for full custody of Jenny.
Julia: I mean -- wow!
Tad: I know. Tearing a little girl like this away from her mother at Christmas sounds cruel. Who am I kidding -- it is cruel. There's worse things out there to worry about, namely Adam.
Julia: Well, you said if Krystal couldn't help herself --
Tad: Yeah, I'd do it for her.
Julia: You weren't kidding.
Julia: How's Krystal taking it?
Tad: Oh, she's doing everything she can to avoid it. She even offered to run away somewhere, start over with me, someplace she wouldn't be tempted by Mr. Chandler.
Julia: Uh -- yeah, that's -- sounds like a good idea. I wouldn't recommend it.
Tad: Yeah -- thousands of miles away from our families, living our lives looking over our shoulders?
Julia: Been there.
Tad: Yeah. It's like trading one bad situation for another -- I don't think it would work anyway. We could put Krystal on Mars, and she'd find a -- find a way to get in touch with Adam. I just wish to God I had another option.
Julia: You know, this -- it just isn't you.
Tad: Fighting for my daughter, even if it means her personal safety?
Julia: No, no, that part I totally get. It -- but taking Krystal to court, it's -- well, it sounds like something Adam would do.
Tad: Yeah. It's exactly what he would do. Here we are, tearing up each other over a -- a child. Oh, man. I don't know what to do, I don't know what to think. I've detested everything that man stands for my entire life -- here I am acting exactly like him.
Krystal: What the hell are you trying to pull with Tad?
J.R.: It's only a few more days till Santa comes down the chimney --
J.R.: And you've been such a good boy. Maybe there's already a treat for you upstairs, like maybe a train?
Colby: Let's go -- ooh! Let's go.
Babe: So, uh, what do you remember?
J.R.: It's bad, Babe. Every evil, dirty, nasty thing I've ever done -- I might just have to pay for.
Babe: So somebody asked you to tell them all the nasty things you've done?
Babe: What else do you remember?
J.R.: That's it. It was just like a one quick brain flash, and then it's gone.
Babe: All right, J.R., you have to think, there has to be more.
J.R.: It might've involved sex.
J.R.: Yeah, because when I remembered, Amanda and I were about to --
Babe: Ok, J.R., please. Next time, do yourself a favor and involve yourself with a nice, uncomplicated woman.
J.R.: If I hit Zach Slater, there's not going to be a "next time." My God, Babe, is this my last Christmas with my son?
Babe: No, don't -- don't even say that, don't even think it.
J.R.: Do you remember last year when we all decorated that tree?
Babe: Yes -- you were in your hospital bed, but that didn't stop you from bossing everybody around.
J.R.: And you read Little A's Christmas wish list, and he wanted a new baby brother. I've screwed everything up. Except this time, there's no quick fix.
Babe: Yeah, but you might not have done anything. Ok, let's -- let's get back to jogging your memory. Just tell me every nasty, evil thing you've ever done.
Krystal: You went to Tad behind my back?
Adam: Yeah. This is war, one has to be prepared.
Krystal: That "one" is me, Adam. You have no right.
Adam: Well, it seems I have no rights at all. I'm trying to size up the enemy to get a -- get a sense of what you're up against, determine what his true motives are.
Krystal: You know his motives.
Adam: Yes, he wants to take Jenny away from you.
Krystal: No, more precisely, he wants to keep Jenny from you. Right? When we were married, I slept with Tad, I got pregnant, then you steal the baby, put her up for sale. God help us, now we're -- we're trying to make a go of it. But Tad doesn't want Jenny anywhere near you.
Adam: Tad is a moron. You know I'm no threat to Jenny.
Krystal: I love you and Jenny, ok? But Tad is Jenny's father and he deserves a say.
Adam: He deserves what? Is this a prize he gets for adultery? He wants to have complete control of your life and sole custody of your daughter -- sole custody!
Krystal: I -- I don't want to talk about that. Now, Tad said that you offered him some kind of a deal? What -- what the hell is that, Adam -- and I want a straight answer.
Adam: I told him that if he'd drop the custody suit, I could lead him to his long-lost daughter.
Krystal: My God. You know where -- where Kate is?
[Christmas music plays]
Opal: Ooh, and if she isn't the yummiest little dumpling I ever did see.
Tad: Ok, Ma -- Ma, watch this, watch this, watch -- watch this. Where's your bee? Oh, want to see your bee? Get your bee.
Tad: Get your bee! Oh, man, I'm crazy about this one.
Opal: Oh, I know you are, honey, and she's pretty gaga about you, too. You don't need a tarot deck to tell you that, hon.
Tad: You just remember, honey, it's pronounced "Tay-ro." "Tay-ro."
Ryan: How you holding up?
Jack: Well, you know what, Ryan? All things considered, I'm ok. Thanks for asking. How's Spike?
Ryan: He's good, he's doing well. He's back at home recovering from the surgery, he's ok.
Ryan: Yeah. Doesn't quite feel like Christmas, does it?
Jack: No, it doesn't. But you know what? Seeing all of us together in one place gives me an idea. Why don't you and Annie -- and Emma and Kendall and the boys -- just come on over to my place on Christmas Day -- I'll even invite Erica. Truth is, I just think our family's going to need to be together.
Ryan: I think you might be right.
Kendall: You know what? You know what? This is your fault. It is -- it is your fault that we can't find them.
Aidan: That's it -- it's my fault, so just blame it on me.
Kendall: It is! It is -- you won't even try.
Aidan: No, you're right, Kendall. Why should I try, huh? Because this is exactly what I wanted.
Kendall: See, I told you, I told you, I knew it. You don't even care.
Aidan: Yeah, I finally meet the woman of my dreams, the woman that I want to marry and spend the rest of my life with, and -- and I'm glad that she's gone.
Kendall: That's right, that's it. See -- they're gone, Aidan. They're gone. They're gone! So you know what we need to do? We need to just -- we should just pack it in, right? Actually, you know what? I have a better idea. You know what we should do? We should end it -- look at me! We should really, really end it, right? I have a great idea -- I'll write a note. I can write -- do you want to write the note? You can write the note or I'll write it, I don't care.
Aidan: You just have to keep making it worse, don't you?
Kendall: Aidan, listen to me, they're gone -- that's what you said, right? There's no hope, we have no hope left, ok?
Aidan: Kendall, a month --
Kendall: That's what you think, isn't it?
Aidan: A month -- without word, without a sign, and they're still alive?
Kendall: You shut up! Shut up!
Aidan: You know as well as I do, right? Zach and Greenlee are dead, and all we're looking for now is something to bury.
[Kendall slaps Aidan]
Zach: You ok?
Greenlee: How do you know when it's over?
Zach: Maybe when you can't feel the person that makes you whole anymore.
["Joy to the World" plays]
Stuart: Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas! Oh! Boy, golly, would you --
Emma: Where's Rudolph?
Stuart: Rudolph? Well, Rudolph's resting. It's a long trip from up there -- where he lives.
Stuart: Oh, ho, that's right -- long trip and so -- well, I am so happy to see all of you.
Stuart: All right. Who's going to be the first one to sit on my lap?
Stuart: Well, I got -- I got two of you.
Annie: I wish Spike and Ian could be here for this.
Ryan: Oh, are you kidding me? They're not going to miss out on this. We're going to have our own celebration at our place. We'll get -- we'll get Josh to dress up as Santa.
Annie: Yeah. Good luck with that.
Ryan: I'm telling you, this time next year, it's going to be amazing. Ian, Spike, and Emma are going to be just tearing apart a huge pile of presents, and they're going to be smiling because everybody is going to be there -- everyone.
Annie: Emma said she -- she wants a unicorn this year. You think we can swing it?
Ryan: Hey. What's going on? What else is wrong?
Annie: I had this daydream -- more like a nightmare, really -- about Richie. I was standing outside the Psych ward and then all of a sudden, he was there. He broke out and I -- I grabbed a scalpel and I stabbed him. I killed him, Ryan, my own brother.
Ryan: Ah. Come here.
Tad: You should see her at 3:00 in the morning.
Stuart: I'm seeing big spots before my eyes.
Tad: Yeah -- I'm just kidding. She's delicious all the time.
Opal: Of course she is. And just imagine -- maybe someday, Spike Lavery is going to find you kind of delicious all the time, too, huh? Or Ian -- oh, they'd make a handsome couple, wouldn't they?
Tad: You know, it would be a possibility except she's going to be locked in her bedroom until she's 30.
Opal: Oh, yeah? Well, you can try it, but I think there's no stopping a woman in love, is there? No.
Tad: No, there isn't -- that's for sure.
Krystal: Tad has a daughter that he has never seen because that maniac Greg Madden stole her from Dixie. He has poured his heart and soul into tracking Kate down. Are you telling me that you found her?
Barry's voice: Kathleen Mershon was born the day Dixie gave birth to Kate. They're one and the same.
Krystal: Adam? Adam, answer me. Did you find Kate?
Adam: No, no. I have no idea where she is. I was bluffing to see how badly Tad wants Jenny.
Krystal: Huh. How could you?
Adam: Do you -- do you honestly think that just because you and Tad have been playing house, that he isn't going to try to crush you in court? He will go as low as he has to.
Krystal: He can't go any lower than you lying about his missing daughter. Adam, that is just -- that's --
Adam: That's necessary! That man stole my wife! Do you remember? He stole my children. There's nothing that he will not do to get Jenny back. The question is, will you do the same to keep her?
J.R.: The mistakes that I made that tore me and you and Little Adam apart -- I regret those the most until now, because this mistake -- it could tear us apart for good.
Babe: Hey, we won't let that happen. We are going to keep going until we're sure about what went down that night -- even though I already am sure you didn't hit Zach.
J.R.: When did you come to that decision?
Babe: J.R., you're not the same man you used to be.
J.R.: I got loaded and I passed out.
Babe: Yes, yes, you still make mistakes, but -- but this, something that could cost you your son?
J.R.: I love him so much. I can't lose him.
Babe: Listen, Little Adam is upstairs playing right now and -- and later on, his mama and daddy are going to kiss him good night. But there are little boys who won't have that tonight. They -- they may not ever have it again. But our family is still together in ways that count. We still have our child -- and each other.
J.R.: I love you, Babe.
Babe: I love you, too.
Greenlee: Aidan -- he just gives -- he gave me so much hope.
Zach: With Kendall, we're different. I -- I married her and then -- and then I fell in love with her. And now I see her with those boys, and I fall in love with her more every day.
Greenlee: I was pretty sure that no one was ever going to love me again. We're talking me here.
Greenlee: But Aidan did. He -- he got me to start dreaming again.
Zach: New Year's, we -- we wrote all our hopes and dreams on little cards.
Greenlee: You did? Zach Slater did?
Zach: Uh -- it gets worse. And then we tied them to balloons, and we sent them off.
Greenlee: Oh, come on -- you loved it. What did -- what was your wish?
Zach: I wished that my time with Kendall would never end.
