J.R.: That was, um, a surprise.
J.R.: It was nice. It was very nice.
Babe: I guess it was what we both needed tonight.
Babe: J.R., I'm going to go.
J.R.: Wait, Babe. Hold on a second. It was like old times. It was good.
Babe: Yeah, I remember.
J.R.: Here's a crazy idea. Why don't we get married again?
Singer: Candles burning bright surrounded by the shadows that light the sky into ♪
Tad: How stupid do you think I am?
Jack: So the candlelight, the dancing, the love -- it was all because you knew, you knew. What was it, a week ago you accused Greenlee of having plans to kidnap Spike again?
Erica: Well, because she was. I thought she was and -- and she did it before.
Jack: Yeah, but she didn't do it this time, and we both know that.
Erica: Jack, I know that you're very upset -- of course, you are -- but please don't turn this around on me and -- and my daughter.
Jack: But when I think how you laid it on tonight -- "Oh, Jack, we have this wonderful connection. Nothing can ever tear us apart no matter what happens" -- that's because you knew what was going to happen. You knew the ax was going to fall on my daughter.
Erica: Jack, Greenlee was caught red-handed trying to take Kendall's little boy.
Jack: Greenlee was set up.
Erica: Set up? I -- what do you mean?
Jack: Set up -- by Kendall. So, the question is -- when did you know all about this?
Erica: How can you even think this?
Jack: Because my daughter's in a jail cell, and you would be the only one that Kendall would confide in about a thing like this -- now, isn't that right?
Erica: You interrogating me?
Jack: The trap was set, and you just let Greenlee walk right into it, didn't you?
Erica: Trap? Look, Jack, you just have to accept the fact that Greenlee is guilty.
Zach: All right. What happened tonight? You need to tell me what you did.
Kendall: You heard already.
Zach: Yeah, I heard. The real story, all of it.
Kendall: Zach, I didn't want you to get involved --
Kendall: I did it. I set Greenlee up.
Greenlee: That liar. Kendall is a back-stabbing, two-faced -- she never wanted to be friends. She just -- she wanted me in prison.
Aidan: Look, Kendall is not going to get away with this, all right?
Greenlee: Yeah, damn straight. She wants to hate me, I'll give her a reason to hate me.
Aidan: You don't have to do anything, I'm trying to help --
Greenlee: Yeah, you're going to get her where it hurts!
Aidan: Greenlee, listen to me --
Greenlee: No, you listen to me. When you get out of here, you go see J.R., you tell him our deal, it's back on.
Aidan: Greenlee, please, I --
Greenlee: I'll give him my Fusion shares, Ava's contracts, everything he asked for. I want my embryos back, and I want to take Zach down for stealing them.
Babe: You want to get married again?
J.R.: Why not?
Babe: Because it would be insane.
J.R.: All right. Well, you know, getting hitched might be -- a little extreme.
Babe: "A little"?
J.R.: Ok, a lot. But, this and this -- just being close to you -- it feels right.
Babe: Only because everything else lately has felt so wrong.
J.R.: All right. I've had a rough couple days.
Babe: Yeah, your -- your big business deal with Ava fell through, and you didn't want to turn back to Adam, and the guy I was seeing turned out to be a huge liar.
Babe: We were frustrated and disappointed, so we reached for something comfortable.
J.R.: Yeah, what's so bad about that?
Babe: Nothing, as -- as long as we're both clear on what this was. Look, J.R., we didn't work as husband and wife, but now we're friends, and we both needed each other tonight -- as friends.
J.R.: You needed me?
J.R.: I needed you, too. I still do.
Babe: Oh, my God.
J.R.: What's wrong?
Babe: I can't believe this is happening.
Babe: I'm turning into my mother.
Krystal: Look, Tad -- Tad, take it easy, take it easy.
Tad: It was you, wasn't it? The whole time, in my house, with my daughter? The devil himself in disguise right under my nose, and I never even saw it. God, I'm an idiot.
Krystal: Listen --
Krystal: The only people who are idiots are Adam and me, ok? The way we've been carrying on is just -- it's been ridiculous.
Tad: You knew, didn't you? The whole time, you knew.
Erica: I know how painful this must be for you, Jack. I realize that.
Jack: What's painful, Erica, is to think that someone would fabricate a kidnapping as payback to Greenlee. Ring any bells with you?
Erica: Absolutely not.
Jack: Well, it sure as well seems like it would.
Erica: You know what, Jack? I don't think that you can clearly see anything right now, because I think that you are still in denial about who Greenlee really is. She is a very disturbed young woman, and nobody's happy about that, Jack. Nobody wants to see her suffer.
Jack: Erica, I know how you feel about my daughter. You want her gone, but this --
Erica: I want Greenlee to stop hurting Kendall and her little boys and you. I want Greenlee to get the -- the professional psychiatric help that she desperately needs.
Derek: Apparently, Greenlee's mother does, too. Did you know Mary Smythe signed court papers to have her daughter committed to a mental institution?
Jack: What? Mary Smythe hasn't seen Greenlee in, what, maybe two years? Has anyone spoken to her about this?
Derek: We tried, but she's in Europe, no one seems to know where.
Jack: Derek, there's something up here. Come on, this stinks. This stinks to high heaven.
Derek: That's not the only evidence we have, Jack. There's everything that's found in Greenlee's car.
Derek: Plane tickets for her and Spike, a pile of cash, a suitcase full of baby clothes, a phony birth certificate.
Jack: Yes, I saw it all. Come on, that birth certificate? "Little Jackson Smythe"? Don't you think this preponderance of evidence is obviously overkill?
Derek: When my officers got to the boathouse, Greenlee was holding Spike, and Kendall was passed out from chloroform! And then there's this -- a diary found on Greenlee's home computer.
Zach: You set Greenlee up. So the story you told the police was --
Kendall: I lied.
Zach: All right. It's just us now. Let's hear the real story, all of it. When'd you start planning this?
Kendall: It was a while ago -- weeks, months, I don't know exactly.
Zach: Ok. Let's hear it, from the very beginning.
Kendall: Whew. Well, I started having contractions with Ian way too early, and the doctors were able to keep it under control -- you remember. But then, I got the news that Greenlee took Spike. So, we had to prep me to do the emergency C-section. And you were holding my hand, and they wheeled me down the hall, and then I saw him -- bloody and bruised on that gurney. So I had one child fighting for life inside of me and another child fighting for life right in front of my eyes, and this was all because of her. That's why I did it.
Zach: What is "it"?
Kendall: Anger, hate, rage, for almost killing Spike. I wanted her gone, I needed her away from us and away from our family, but everywhere I turned, everywhere I looked, there she was hounding me and pushing me, until one day, she pushed me too far.
Zach: What happened?
Kendall: You remember what a mess I was and how lost I was after Ian was born. I felt like I couldn't help him, I couldn't connect with him. I felt like I was failing my son. And then, finally, that moment came where I was able to hold him for the very first time. And I needed that -- I needed it so badly and so did Ian. So when that nurse took him and -- and put him against my chest for the very first time, I actually felt like I was connecting with my boy, my new baby boy. That was our moment, it belonged to us. But then, I looked up and there she was. That's it. That's when I knew -- that's when I knew I had to go after Greenlee, and I had to stop her because she was going to keep coming after our family, so it had to end.
Zach: When I found you in the park the other day with the gun --
Kendall: I was going after Greenlee, yes. But I wasn't going to --
Zach: You weren't going to shoot her?
Kendall: No, I wasn't. The gun wasn't even loaded -- you know that. But I did have a plan to get rid of her.
Zach: Yeah, and you told me you were dropping the plan.
Kendall: I was.
Zach: So how do you get from that to putting her in jail?
Kendall: I was wrong, Zach. Greenlee will never stop coming after us and our family, so I had no choice. I had to get rid of her.
Greenlee: This is so not over. Zach stole my embryos -- I'm going to find a surrogate, I'm going to have twins, triplets, sextuplets.
Aidan: Greenlee, there's something that you need to know.
Greenlee: You just wait until Kendall finds out about what Zach did, how her beloved husband let us all think that my embryos were destroyed in his blackout, but he kept them hidden all this time.
Aidan: No, listen, listen, there -- there are no embryos.
Greenlee: I am going to nail him to the wall! What did you say?
Aidan: I'm sorry, but your embryos are -- they're gone.
Erica: Jack, I'm so sorry.
Erica: But I'm just trying to be supportive.
Jack: Is that what all that phony romance was about before -- you trying to support me knowing what was coming?
Erica: Jack, there was nothing phony about that. You know how much I love you. Look, your daughter was arrested tonight. I -- I understand, that's very upsetting. But please don't question my love for you.
Jack: I have a lot of questions about a lot of things just right now, like why would an absentee mother sign commitment forms? Why would Greenlee leave a trail of computer files as to her motives? It just doesn't make any sense and I don't buy it!
Erica: Well, at some point, you're just going to have to come to grips with this.
Jack: I am not going to let my daughter go down for something she did not do.
Erica: Jack, Kendall was drugged. They found her little boy in Greenlee's arms. I mean, how much more proof do you need?
Jack: A lot more. And if I have proof that Kendall set this up, you know I'm not going to let her get away with it, right?
Erica: Oh, but you would let Greenlee get away with nearly killing both of Kendall's little boys? I mean, Greenlee is the reason for all of this.
Jack: We'll see.
Erica: No, we have already seen. Kendall has been through "way" too much, and she deserves to have a life of peace!
Jack: Yeah, well, so does Greenlee. She's moved on from this, Erica.
Erica: Oh, la-de-da! I'm so happy that Greenlee could move on, because Kendall doesn't have the option to move on, because Greenlee keeps attacking her. So, you can defend Greenlee till the end of time, or you can wake up and get her the help she needs. And I meant what I said tonight. I will always love you.
[Erica gets on her cell phone]
Erica: Yes, hello. This is Erica Kane. Yes, it is true, but my daughter and her baby -- they're fine. A little while ago when you interviewed me, I promised you an exclusive, and I do have a few minutes right now, so if you can hurry down to the police station, I will wait for you.
Zach: Chloroform, huh? And disposable cell phone, and a fake diary. You did all that?
Kendall: Yeah, I did. Do you understand why I had to do it, Zach -- why I had to get rid of her?
Zach: Yeah, I understand. You want to keep our boys safe, I understand.
Kendall: Yeah, I wanted to keep all of us safe.
Zach: What I don't understand is why you wouldn't tell me. Why would you keep me in the dark?
Kendall: Because this was between me and Greenlee.
Zach: Yeah. See, you do these things. You keep secrets, and we end up here. You don't even realize what you've done, do you?
Kendall: I had -- no, I had to do this for our family, and I was going to tell you.
Zach: No, you weren't going to tell me! Because you knew I wouldn't let you go through with it, so you did it -- you made the call, right? Forget the husband and get Greenlee.
Greenlee: I don't understand.
Aidan: It was all a big con, Greenlee. All right, Zach wanted you to believe that your embryos still existed, so that he could cut you out of Fusion and out of Kendall's life.
Greenlee: No, no, no, no, no. J.R. and I had a deal. We were working against Zach.
Aidan: And J.R. was on Zach's payroll, ok? It was his job to convince you that the story was true.
Greenlee: But -- wait, Aidan, it is true, because you and I, we -- we saw the documents. We saw the receipts, the invoices, the canceled checks.
Aidan: Yeah, Zach lied, all right? He destroyed everything the night of the blackout. There's -- there's nothing left. Nothing. I'm sorry.
Greenlee: I knew they hated me. I just didn't know how much.
Krystal: Tad, I know this must seem strange --
Tad: No, no. No -- "strange"? "Strange" is finding a UFO in your rearview mirror. I can't even begin to express what this is.
Krystal: Ok, well, let me try to explain, all right? Adam and I -- had a lot of things that we still wanted to say to each other, and this was just the only way that we could do it without coming to blows.
Tad: From now on, you two can dress up like Donny and Marie if you want to. No, seriously -- send smoke signals back and forth, I really don't care. If you're so determined to give away everything we've got to get back to that, then that's your funeral. But don't think for one second you're taking our daughter with you.
Babe: I'm right behind Mama, following in her footsteps, doing exactly the same thing she is.
J.R.: What are you talking about?
Babe: I have to get out of here.
J.R.: Wait, wait -- can you just calm down a second and fill me in?
Babe: I'm on my own now, J.R. I broke free. So did my mother, but -- but she's getting sucked back in, and I can't do that. I won't. We were doing so well, J.R. I ruined everything.
J.R.: Whoa, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Well, you didn't ruin anything. It's like you said -- we both needed some comfort. And that was fantastic.
Babe: No, J.R. -- stop.
Babe: Because -- I don't love you anymore.
Aidan: What's going on?
Jack: Aidan, look, we all know why you took a swipe at that cop and got yourself locked up. But Derek's going to let you go, ok?
Aidan: I'm fine where I am.
Jack: I appreciate what you're trying to do -- I do. However, you're no help to Greenlee stuck in here.
Aidan: I'm not leaving yet, Jack.
Jack: Sweetheart, how you holding up?
Greenlee: Well, it's all Kendall. She just -- she wants me to suffer.
Jack: I am going to do everything I can, everything I can to help you.
Aidan: This is bollocks, Jack. They can't convict her of a damn thing.
Jack: Don't be so sure about that.
Greenlee: What do you mean?
Jack: Along with all the other evidence, they found a diary on your computer.
Greenlee: I don't keep a diary.
Aidan: And what's in it? What does it say?
Jack: Every entry starts "Dear Spike" -- and they're all signed, "Your Real Mom."
Greenlee: I'm dead.
Kendall: You're right. I didn't want to be talked out of my plan.
Zach: So you didn't talk at all?
Kendall: There would've been no point. I wasn't going to change my mind.
Zach: Yeah, you sure about that?
Kendall: Yes, I am.
Kendall: Because my mother tried to stop me, and if she couldn't do it, then no one could.
Zach: So Erica knew about all this?
Kendall: Yes. She wasn't supposed to know. She did everything she could to try to stop me. But why should I stop, Zach? I mean, how can I face my boys knowing that the woman who hurt them didn't pay for what she did?
Zach: No one ever said she wouldn't pay.
Kendall: Yes, but no one made it happen. Greenlee deserved to be punished. I deserved to do it. I did the right thing, Zach -- you'll see.
Zach: All right, so how about now? What do we do now with your perfect plan? How do we get you out of this? Are you sure Greenlee is the only one going down?
Kendall: I'm not going down for anything. And I was very careful.
Zach: Yeah, you sure about that?
Kendall: Yes. And I have no regrets. So if you're trying to make me feel guilty, stop. Because I don't feel guilty, I -- I feel great. Zach, for the first time since Ian was born, I don't have to look over my shoulder wondering what crazy Greenlee will do next. This is good. That means that it's over, and we're finally safe.
Zach: No, we're not safe.
Kendall: I thought that you understood.
Zach: I do understand. I understand justice and revenge. What I don't understand is this. This little plan -- it's got cops and lawyers all over it. What if there's a hole in it? What if you end up behind bars?
Kendall: Ok, see, now you're trying to scare me.
Zach: Well, you should be scared. What happens to Spike, what happens to Ian when you end up in prison?
Kendall: Stop. Stop it!
Zach: No, you stop. You put our family in danger. Our family, our future -- everything on the line.
Reporter: Can you describe your family's state of mind at this time?
Erica: Well, relieved. And of course, saddened. I mean, Greenlee Smythe is clearly a very troubled young woman. She's crying out for help, and we are all just praying that she gets it.
Aidan: Greenlee, we're going to help you, ok? Your father's here, I'm here. Greenlee, look at me. I'm going to get you out. That's a promise. Hold on to that.
Jack: Look, even if this evidence was planted, we have to take it very seriously.
Aidan: I know. I know she needs -- she needs a good lawyer.
Aidan: But she also needs somebody else, too -- her dad. I mean, as tough as Greenlee is, I don't think she can make it through this on her own. She needs her father, Jack. Does she have him?
Jack: Yes, she does. And obviously, she has you, as well. And we're both very grateful for that.
Aidan: I meant what I said. I'm getting her out of there.
Babe: Of course, I love you, J.R., for all of the amazing times we've had together and -- and because you're an incredible father. I'm just not in love with you anymore.
Babe: And -- and what kind of message would we be sending to Little A if we kept this up knowing it's not going anywhere?
J.R.: Babe, just relax.
Babe: So you agree that the two of us getting involved again would be a mistake?
J.R.: Uh -- huge.
Babe: That's not how you made it sound.
J.R.: What, did you think I was serious about giving us another go?
Babe: Um -- actually, yeah, I kind of did.
J.R.: Well, then you need to lighten up, because it was a joke.
