Tad: That's right. I am. I'm in love with Krystal.
Krystal: You're what?
Adam: Well. Well, isn't this cozy? When's the big day? I'll be more than happy to walk you down the aisle and give the bride away.
Tad: No, no, no -- before you say anything, look, I -- I apologize. I know you didn't want me to get involved or say anything, but, ok, the cat is out of the bag, darling. He finally knows how I feel about you, how you feel about me. I think the best thing for everybody is just to get out --
Adam: Well, whoa, hold -- wait. Hold on just a minute. We have some details to discuss. Before you start this farce of a marriage, you have to end the farce that is ours.
Tad: Yeah. She's leaving.
Adam: No, she's staying!
Krystal: I'm speaking! Now, you might have my arms, but I still have my legs, and I have pretty good aim, so unless you want to speak in falsetto for the rest of your lives, I suggest you back off!
Kendall: Uh -- do -- [Speaking loudly] Do you want to sit down?
Jason: I can hear you fine. You talked to me normally, remember?
Kendall: [Speaking normally] Right, right. Sorry.
Jason: It's ok -- it happens a lot.
Kendall: So you -- you wanted to tell me something?
Jason: Your mother said you have a child who can't hear.
Zach: There was an accident not too long ago. We're pretty new at this.
Jason: It's ok, but being deaf isn't what you think it is.
Kendall: Did -- did my mother tell you how I feel?
Kendall: Well, then how do you know what I'm thinking is wrong?
Jason: Because you wouldn't look so sad if you understood.
Greenlee: Ok, so --
Greenlee: I don't want to jinx it, but I am having a day that is bordering on tolerable. Did you bring me here to make it even better?
Aidan: How much better? What are you talking about? I thought we agreed, all right, friends without benefits.
Greenlee: Ok! Who said a thing about benefits? I'm talking old-fashioned fun. Any suggestions?
Aidan: Yeah -- just one.
Greenlee: Bring it.
Aidan: I want you to knock me senseless and leave me for dead.
Ryan: It's ok. It's ok, Annie, I got you. I got you. Can we cover him up, please? She's seen enough. I am -- I am so sorry, Annie.
Annie: It's not him.
Annie: That's not my brother.
Derek: Are you positive?
Derek: He matched the description perfectly, right down to the tattoo.
Annie: I know what my brother looked like. That man is not Richie.
Ryan: It's not him, Derek.
Derek: I have to take this. Don't go anywhere -- I'll be right back.
Annie: He did this. He found that guy, the perfect guy to torture me down to that same sick matching tattoo. This is what he wanted, this is what Richie wanted. He wanted me in this room, worried, thinking that he's dead while he's out there laughing about it somewhere.
Ryan: Ok, ok, ok. I got to get you out of this place, all right?
Annie: And go where? Go where, Ryan? I've never seen that man before in my life, which means that Richie is still alive. No -- no --
Ryan: Ok, I want -- ok.
Annie: Just listen. Wherever you want to take me, it doesn't matter. As long as Richie is out there, I have nowhere to hide.
Aidan: I want to know what happened the night that I was knocked out, and you were here.
Greenlee: I didn't see anything.
Aidan: Maybe you saw something, but you just don't know it, all right? Walk me through your actions that night, step by step. Where were you exactly -- before you fed my dinner to the birds?
Greenlee: Ok, ok, ok. Um -- well, I -- I was positioned right about here looking drop-dead gorgeous in that effortless sort of way -- you know, one of those -- "Oh, really? This old thing?"
Aidan: I'm being serious.
Greenlee: Aidan, you are the best PI around. You don't need my help to figure this out.
Aidan: Well, obviously not. Let's just go back to this night for a second, all right? It's going to help me if I can see things through your eyes.
Greenlee: These old things?
Aidan: You must have seen something.
Aidan: Or did you hear anything? I mean, I'm -- a car door, a -- a voice? It doesn't matter how small, Greenlee -- just tell me. Come on.
Greenlee: Ok, ok, I'm thinking. Um -- well, I was sitting right here, and I was getting annoyed, because you re late.
Aidan: Ok. That's good. What else?
Greenlee: Um -- well, to pass the time, I was making lists in my head and, well, one of the lists I made is all the reasons we should never sleep together again.
Aidan: And how many did you come up with?
Greenlee: Yeah -- none.
Kendall: So I don't get it, huh? Do you think you can explain cochlear implants to me?
Jason: All I know is that I don't feel different.
Zach: And they don't stop you from doing anything?
Jason: I pretty much do what everyone else does -- I go to school, I hang out with my friends. I play sports, mostly soccer.
Zach: Yeah? What position do you play?
Zach: That's the hardest job of all.
Jason: It's my thing. My mom worries about me -- sometimes, a lot.
Kendall: Hmm. Well, he -- that's -- that's what us moms do. It's kind of our thing.
Jason: Well, she doesn't need to. I do well in school, I am the president of my class.
Zach: Which, like you said, helps with the girls, right? Sweet.
Kendall: Oh, yeah?
Mrs. Miller: Jason? We got to get going if you want to make the movie, ok?
Jason: Coming, Mom. Good luck with your son. When he's older, if he ever wants to kick a ball around or anything --
Kendall: We know who to call.
Mrs. Miller: Bye.
Krystal: Why are you here?
Adam: Hmm, Tad came by to mark his territory and to proclaim his undying love for you.
Tad: Guilty -- as charged, about the "proclaiming the love" part.
Adam: Yeah, he also had some insightful words on how I should raise my daughter.
Adam: Do you think maybe you should talk to your boyfriend, get him to stop leeching on to my family?
Tad: "Leeching" -- they came running.
Adam: Like hell they did.
Tad: And another thing, your highness -- it occurs to me, you don't give a damn that your kids aren't here. You only get your panties in a knot when they're over at my house with me.
Adam: Yeah, because you're poison, and I am the antidote that's going to wipe you out, Martin -- out.
Krystal: That -- that's enough. That's enough. Don't you get tired of going at it? I'm exhausted just listening to you two. One more time, Tad -- why are you here?
Tad: I told you. Yeah, well, more importantly, you know, why are you here? What are you doing?
Tad: Why would you walk into this house? Are you -- are you some kind of a glutton for punishment? Is that it?
Krystal: What about you, Tad? Did you expect to come over here and have Adam throw you a tea party?
Adam: Can I please referee this lovers' quarrel?
Adam: Um -- yes. Uh -- one rule only -- no make-up sex on my property.
Krystal and Tad: Shut up!
Tad: You know what? We are done here. Come on, you're coming with me.
Adam: No, no.
Krystal: Um -- coming with you? You're acting like some kind of jealous husband. Now, even though I do not have a finalized divorce, I do not have a husband. If I want to talk to Adam, I'm going to talk to Adam. This has nothing to do with you.
Tad: Ok, ok. But everything I said, everything, stands.
[Tad gives Krystal a big kiss]
Tad: See you at home -- baby.
Adam: Well, well, well, well, here we are.
Adam: You have me right where you wanted me -- all to yourself. Aren't you going to run after your man?
Krystal: I came here to see you, Adam.
Adam: As I suspected.
Krystal: Oh, come on -- what's that supposed to mean?
Adam: Well, just exactly what I said -- you want me alone.
Krystal: I don't want you, Adam, period.
Adam: I know you say that, but I don't believe you. Now, come on -- say it again, with feeling this time.
Greenlee: Oh. You know, it's much more comfortable down there.
Aidan: You know what? We're not here so you can be comfortable. You must have seen something or heard something the night that you were waiting for me.
Greenlee: For the gazillionth time, I didn't -- I'm positive. Look, I know it sucks that you were knocked out by whomever, but it's done. Let it go.
Aidan: I can't.
Greenlee: Why? It's not like they took millions. They took credit cards. You'll get some new ones.
Aidan: It's not about the cards, all right?
Greenlee: Well, is it about the locket watch? Aidan, I'll buy you some more pretty jewelry. You'll be beautiful again.
Aidan: It's not about what they took, Greenlee.
Greenlee: Well, then, what's going on? Aidan? Aidan? What do you think really happened here?
Annie: Richie is out there, Ryan, and so far, he's been able to get at me as much as he's wanted to.
Ryan: Ok, not anymore. I am going to -- I am going to make sure of that.
Annie: I feel -- I feel like I'm going crazy just like he wants.
Ryan: All right. As soon as Derek is done with us here, we're going to go home, and we're going to take a little breather, all right? We'll relax a little bit, and we'll be able to figure this all out, figure out what -- what happened here.
Annie: What do you mean?
Ryan: With that guy, with the guy -- whoever that guy was we just saw.
Annie: You don't -- you don't think he's working for Richie?
Ryan: Well -- well? Did you find anything out?
Derek: A few things. Turns out the spider tattoo is only a few weeks old.
Annie: How do you know?
Derek: It takes a tattoo 45 days to heal, and this one wasn't.
Annie: Richie got his tattoo in high school, way back.
Ryan: And -- and this guy here got the exact same tattoo a few weeks ago?
Derek: We finally got a hit on his prints. His name's Eddie Johnson. He's got a rap sheet a mile long -- crystal meth production, distribution, you name it.
Ryan: So -- so this guy has done time?
Derek: You'll never guess where -- three cells down from a Richard Novak.
Greenlee: That's the rock?
Aidan: Yep, the one and only -- the famous rock. I've dusted it for prints -- nothing. Here you are -- try different positions.
Greenlee: Ooh -- kinky today.
Aidan: Hand positions.
Greenlee: Yeah -- hand positions. Right.
Aidan: Well, all right, do whatever's natural. Move around a little, all right? We have to solve this case.
Greenlee: Oh, yes. This is a good time.
Aidan: I came about here, I picked up the corkscrew that I thought you'd dropped, I stepped back, and you must've been about here. Look, come over here, all right? Lift up the rock as if you're going to smack me over the head with it. Wow -- you can lift that pretty easy.
Greenlee: Wait a second -- you don't think I did this?
Aidan: Greenlee, this is exactly why I like to work alone.
Greenlee: Ok, I've slapped you, I've thrown things at you, I've verbally assaulted you, but put you in the hospital? I don't think so.
Aidan: Look, if that rock is easy for you to lift, what it means is whoever jumped me could've been about your size -- that's all.
Greenlee: You think you might've been jumped by a girl?
Aidan: Look, it -- they must've been hiding for me somewhere, and I'm thinking it was right behind those rocks over there. Listen, do me a favor -- go over there -- I mean, you're about Annie's size -- walk up onto the rock, pretend you're waiting for me as if you're going to hit me over the head with it. What? What?
Greenlee: You don't think Annie did this, do you? Oh, my God, you do.
Ryan: Here, sit down. Ok.
Ryan: It's good to be home, huh?
Annie: Doesn't feel like home without Emma.
Ryan: I know. I know, but I told you that she's got a guard on her.
Annie: Damn him. I swore -- I swore I would never let Richie touch my family.
Ryan: And he won't. He's not going to get anywhere near Emma or Spike.
Annie: Maybe not, but they're not here right now because of him. He has found his own twisted way to take apart my family.
Ryan: Just, just, just for a little while.
Annie: We don't know that, Ryan. Look at the extremes Richie has gone to get inside my head. He is loving this right now, and he's not going to back down without a fight.
Ryan: And I am prepared to give him one.
Annie: No, you -- you realize this is what he's been doing? This is what he's been doing every single day in prison -- trying to think of a way to make me pay for what I did to him.
Ryan: What he thinks that you did for him, because what you really did was -- was you tried to help him. You wanted to believe that there was some good in him.
Annie: But it didn't work. He didn't get help, he got worse.
Ryan: Come here. Do you really think that Richie would physically hurt you?
Annie: I think Richie is capable of just about anything.
Ryan: Then will you do something for me?
Ryan: I want you to let me buy you a gun.
Zach: Ian told me he was in the mood for barbecue. You better eat up. You're still thinking about Jason, aren't you?
Kendall: It's not that I don't think he's great -- he is. He's -- he's incredible.
Zach: But he's not Spike.
Kendall: When I look at Jason, I see him for who he is, not who he used to be. I mean, I -- I don't even know if there was a before. But with Spike --
Zach: You know how he was when he could hear. Well, we all know that, but --
Kendall: But when I look at Spike, I see the baby that he used to be -- happy and healthy and on the verge of saying his first word. When I look at him now, I'll -- I'll never be able to look at him the same. I'll -- I'll always think "it shouldn't have been this way," and I'll always think about the pain that Greenlee caused him.
Zach: Spike's not broken.
Kendall: But he's not whole.
Joe: So what happened?
Tad: What didn't happen? I went over to Chandler Mansion to, you know, confront Adam about Colby and ended up telling him I was in love with Krystal, who happened to show up in time to hear it and ended up threatening to rearrange my family jewels. All in all, it was a heck of a morning.
Joe: I take it you didn't get what you wanted.
Tad: Not a bit of it.
Tad: But what do you think?
Joe: You got a house full of people, and you're still lonely.
Krystal: Where do you get off being so cocky, Adam?
Krystal: For all you know, Tad and I could be madly in love with each other.
Adam: Ah, like two demented peas in a pod.
Krystal: Well, I do live with the man, and we do share a child together, Adam.
Adam: Yeah, more than we did, isn't it? Well, what are we waiting for? Why don't we go wedding dress shopping, get something sort of an off, off, "off" white.
Adam: And I think that would be appropriate.
Krystal: Oh. Yeah, nothing gets you as riled up as the thought of Tad and me being together. I mean, the steam isn't coming out of your ears just yet, but it's there in your head just ready to explode like a pressure cooker.
Adam: Poof. Do I look riled up to you?
Krystal: No. No, what you look is very familiar. In fact, everything about right here and right now just reeks of familiar. Well, get ready for round two, Adam, because history is about to repeat itself.
Ryan: Look, I know you don't like guns. I'm not crazy about them, either, but I would feel a lot better if you had one, ok? Just for your own protection.
Annie: No, Ryan, I can't. I can't have a -- a gun in our home.
Ryan: Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you. But these are not normal circumstances, Annie.
Annie: I won't have a weapon in the place where our daughter sleeps at night.
Ryan: But she's not here. Emma -- Emma is safe. She's got a guard on her. I told you that, all right? I'm just trying to keep her mom safe, too.
Annie: I know. I know, and I understand somebody in this kind of circumstance would jump at the thought of having a -- a weapon with them, but no matter how angry I am about what Richie's doing to me, I can't. Ryan, the last time I held a gun, I put a bullet right here.
Ryan: That was an accident.
Annie: I know, I know, and I can't risk any more accidents. Please don't ask me to do this.
Ryan: Ok. Ok. All right. All right. Look, we'll find another way.
Annie: Thank you.
Annie: What are you -- what are you doing?
Ryan: All the doors are locked, and I got my men downstairs.
Annie: Are you going somewhere?
Ryan: Only if it's ok with you, all right? I just -- I really need to find some more information about your brother and about this Johnson guy, all right? But I'm serious -- you say the word, and I will stay.
Annie: No, no, it's -- go, it's fine. I should probably lie down for a little while, anyway.
Ryan: Are you sure?
Annie: I'm sure.
Ryan: You lock the door as soon as I leave, ok? And I got my cell phone on me, so you just call me.
Annie: Just go. It's fine.
Annie: Yeah. Go.
Zach: Thank you, Kyle.
Kyle: Yeah, you bet.
Zach: Do you remember when you told me that you didn't know who you were until Spike was born? He's the one that taught you how to love?
Zach: Well, he taught me a couple things, too.
Kendall: Spike did?
Zach: Yeah, he did. Well, you both did. Package deal. And I loved that kid before he was born, because he was part of you. Yeah.
Zach: Um -- he taught me how to be a father. I didn't think I could do that after Ethan.
Kendall: Spike's pretty incredible, isn't he?
Zach: Yeah, he is, and he always will be. Spike's Spike. It's not going to change.
Kendall: I know. But the way people react to him and talk to him will.
Zach: When you saw Jason today, did you see someone different? Did you --
Kendall: No, no. I mean, I -- I had no idea that he was deaf until my mother mentioned it on the show.
Zach: Right, you saw a kid that liked to kick the ball around, liked girls -- probably in that order. Just a happy little boy. We can give that to Spike.
Kendall: He wasn't supposed to be like this. I mean, I know I keep saying it, but it wasn't.
Zach: Everything you want for Spike -- everything, he can have. He can have that right now.
Kendall: If we do this -- if -- if we give Spike these implants, it'll be like -- like it's over.
Zach: It's just the beginning.
Kendall: No, I mean -- if we accept that Spike is deaf, we'll be saying that what Greenlee did doesn't matter.
Tad: Pop, come on, what's with the 20 questions? The last thing I need right now is the Spanish inquisition.
Joe: You've never been good at being single.
Tad: That's not true.
Joe: It is true.
Tad: That is not --
Joe: When you're not married, you become a kind of professional dater.
Tad: Pop -- pop, be honest, ok? We both know there have been times in my life when I have been alone.
Joe: Yeah, well, not comfortably so. Look, there's nothing wrong in wanting somebody you love to be by your side.
Tad: I do have somebody I love by my side -- Jenny. That's the way it's supposed to be.
Joe: Oh, come on. Look -- look, I love my kids as much as the next guy. But if I didn't have Ruth, there'd be something missing. Something that -- that thing that makes it go, makes life good and sane. Now -- now, tell me -- how's it going living with Krystal?
Tad: Actually, she's good. She's good. She's terrific. She's also a friend, ok? That's it. That's the end of the story.
Joe: "End of the story" -- then how come you told Adam that you're still in love with her?
Tad: Because I would marry her in a New York heartbeat if I thought it would keep him away from my daughter.
Joe: Oh, come on. That's not a good enough reason. Why don't you?
Tad: Because it's more complicated than that. In the first place, my problem isn't keeping Adam away from Krystal, it's keeping Krystal away from Adam.
Adam: And just what part of our history would you and I be repeating?
Krystal: Well, apparently the part where you think it's a bang-up idea to buy off your daughter's affection. Just loving the poor girl isn't enough, huh?
Adam: Huh. I see your lips moving, but everything that's coming out is nonsense.
Krystal: Oh, yeah. So you have forgotten the completely over-the-top Sweet-16 party that you threw your pride and joy last year? You want to take a minute to reminisce about that one?
Adam: A minute to reminisce? All right, now what?
Krystal: Oh, so how many diamonds do you think it takes to win your daughter's love?
Adam: Don't -- don't touch that.
Krystal: Huh? This? This is what you're talking about?
Adam: Yes, give it to me.
Krystal: Oh, no, no. I -- I'm just wondering, you know, how much it cost.
Adam: Nothing in that box concerns you.
Krystal: Well, we'll just see about that.
Krystal: This was my wedding present. I sold this, Adam. What are you doing with it?
Aidan: You know what? Let's just -- just get out of here a few minutes.
Greenlee: No, wait, wait, wait. You think Annie's the one that knocked you out and then just leave it at that.
Aidan: I didn't say anything.
Greenlee: You didn't have to. Aidan, you brought me here.
Aidan: A move I'm regretting more and more.
Greenlee: Well, like it or not, I'm officially involved.
Aidan: Greenlee, if I tell you, all right, you have to swear to me that it goes no further, all right? For Ryan's sake.
Greenlee: Yeah, of course. I mean, I've hurt Ryan enough, haven't I?
Aidan: Ok. Apparently, Annie and her brother have some bad blood.
Greenlee: Her brother? I didn't even know she had a brother. In fact, besides Emma, I didn't know if she had any family at all.
Aidan: That locket watch that you found on the beach -- it belongs to Annie's mother.
Greenlee: Get out.
Aidan: No, and it gets weirder. Annie and Ryan think that her brother is after her.
Aidan: I don't know, all right? I don't know all the details. But Ryan and Annie think that it's him -- that he's the one that attacked me.
Greenlee: But you don't?
Aidan: The locket showed up in Annie's purse, all right?
Greenlee: How do you know?
Aidan: Because I was there when she found it.
Greenlee: Well, was she surprised?
Aidan: She acted surprised, but you know what? I'm not convinced. I think, as weird as it sounds, that Annie's the one that stole the locket from me.
Greenlee: Do you hear yourself? Because basically what you're saying is that Annie has completely lost it.
[Alone in the apartment, Annie opens the front and balcony doors wide open.]
Kendall: What if we go through with this? What if we get Spike the implants, and -- and Greenlee thinks that everything's ok? That what she did to Spike doesn't matter?
Zach: Scoot. We need to take Greenlee out of this equation. It's about Spike. About you, me, Annie, Ryan, and definitely not Greenlee. It's about Spike. Now we can make his life better. Ok?
Joe: But how do you know that Krystal doesn't want more from you? Have you asked her?
Tad: Why would I ask the question when I know the answer? You're going to have to trust me on this one, ok? We professional daters know these things.
Joe: You created Jenny together. I mean, there has to be something there.
Tad: You know what this sounds like? It sounds like a lot of wishful thinking on your part.
Tad: I'm not saying my life is perfect -- far from it, ok? Jamie's halfway around the world. Kate's still missing. And I'm not even going to discuss Dixie.
Joe: I know, I know, son. You're so young to have lost so much. You deserve to be happy.
Tad: I am happy, Pop. I'm telling you, I'm happy, ok? Jenny is a big part of that, and I'm not saying that it wouldn't be terrific to have somebody. It would. I am just saying that I don't think Krystal's going to be that somebody.
Joe: Are you really sure that she's still hung up on Adam?
Tad: Don't just think, I know.
Joe: Hmm. No accounting for taste.
Tad: Yeah, no kidding. The idea of elbowing my way into Krystal's heart while Adam is still there --
Tad: Forget it. It's too small a party for me.
Krystal: You sentimental snake.
Krystal: Keeping the memories alive, huh?
Adam: Nonsense. I found this in the window of that jewelry store where I had it commissioned. And whoever you hocked it to must have unloaded it there.
Krystal: Oh. And you just had to snatch it right up?
Adam: Yes -- um -- in order to bury it.
Adam: I just wish I could bury the memory of that dreadful jug-filled night.
Krystal: Oh, yeah? Well, tell me about it. That image of you all wasted in that dingy motel room is forever burned into my brain.
Adam: And you were the picture of decorum? I may have been drunker than you were, honey, but I'm surprised I wasn't blind, after the show you put on.
Krystal: Oh, yeah. You mean, the show you were straining to see? I didn't know necks bent that far.
Adam: Yeah, that was -- that whole night was your fault, little miss moonshine.
Krystal: Oh, yeah? Well, whatever I did, you begged me to marry you. We saw the videotape to prove it.
Adam: I must have been out of my gourd.
Krystal: No, you wanted me something fierce, and you know it.
Adam: I don't remember you putting up a fight.
Krystal: Well, how do you expect me to fend off the two of you?
Krystal: I was seeing double.
Adam: Two of me? Honey, you must have been in heaven.
Krystal: If that's where Satan lives.
Adam: Damn that moonshine.
Krystal: Damn that honeymoon.
Greenlee: You know, it was not long ago that everyone was calling me crazy. And Annie was the only one who tried to make me feel even a little bit human. She said she understood what it was like to make a decision that changed your life forever. I just thought she was talking about her ex-husband.
Aidan: Well, it goes a lot deeper than that, I'm afraid. right, you know? About the locket. It's not part of something wonderful and romantic.
Aidan: You wanted it to be.
Greenlee: Yeah. I mean, we've all -- we've all had so much darkness in our lives lately. I was hoping it was a sign that things were going to change, you know? Maybe bring us some light.
Aidan: Well, I wish you had been right. I do.
Greenlee: Maybe I was. I mean, not about the locket, but maybe it's you.
Aidan: Maybe what's me?
Greenlee: My sign. My sign that things may get brighter and better. I mean, I don't know everything that you've gone through, but I know you won't let it go.
Aidan: You're not supposed to.
Greenlee: No, Aidan, that's not true. You are. No more midnight swims to punish yourself for past mistakes, ok? I don't want things to be miserable and dark for us anymore.

Adam: Take it. I don't need any more reminders of the biggest mistake of my life.
Krystal: I thought you wanted to bury it.
Adam: No. I -- just as long as I don't have to look at it, I don't care what you do with it.

Joe: Well, I don't think I've been much help.
Tad: Of course you were. You always are. Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to go home. Suddenly, I'm missing my daughter, and I'm going to go get me some love.
Kendall: I think I am done talking about all this. I think the only thing that matters is that Spike and Ian are healthy and safe.
