Kendall: Oh. Hey, sleepyhead. Hmm. You want some breakfast, hmm?
Ryan: Oh. Hey.
Kendall: I forgot. Hey, I expected Spike to wake up to the sound of my voice, or open his beautiful eyes, but he couldn't hear me. Ryan, I forgot he couldn't hear.
Erica: Jack, whatever this is, it'll have to wait. I mean, Kendall really needs me at the hospital.
Jack: Erica, if you had answered any of my earlier messages, we could have had this meeting earlier.
Erica: If I had answered any of your messages? And anyway, we didn't meet. I mean, you ambushed me outside the Valley Inn.
Jack: Because calling all morning got me nowhere.
Erica: Jack, I left countless messages for you yesterday. I -- I guess you couldn't be bothered.
Jack: I was in the middle of a police operation.
Erica: Well, while you were off doing that, Greenlee terrorized my daughter again.
Jack: What happened? Did -- did something happen with Kendall? Spike? Ian? What?
Erica: Oh, yeah, I'd say something happened.
Jack: Well, what? Tell me. Just tell me what happened, please.
Erica: Spike can't hear. Anything. Because of Greenlee, he is completely deaf.
Kendall: In my dreams, nothing's changed. Spike can hear, and everything's all right.
Ryan: He still can be. That's what we have to hope for.
Kendall: Oh. Where's Zach?
Annie: Oh, I just passed him in the hall. He said he had something to do, but he'll be back as soon as he can.
Kendall: Oh, my God, it's Ian. Something's wrong with Ian.
Annie: No. No, no, no, no. Kendall, he's fine, he's fine.
Kendall: Ok, so then you're not here about Ian, my baby?
Ryan: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. This is Dr. Norton. He's the specialist that we brought in for Spike.
Kendall: Oh, right, right. Ok. I'm sorry. There's -- there's so many doctors lately.
Dr. Norton: It's quite all right, Mrs. Slater. As I was telling your husband, getting a definitive diagnosis on Spike isn't going to be easy with the equipment at hand.
Kendall: What do you mean?
Ryan: Yeah. It's not like Pine Valley is some sort of backwoods clinic.
Dr. Norton: I meant no disrespect -- simply that the tools we would use to diagnose someone as young as your son are quite new and not readily available.
Ryan: Ok. Ok, fine. So where are they?
Dr. Norton: In my clinic in Dallas. I believe the other two machines in use are in Switzerland and Japan.
Dr. Norton: I'm sorry. I'll be right back.
Kendall: Dallas? Ahem -- well, um, we could fly there. We could fly there and have Spike there by this afternoon.
Ryan: Whoa, hold on a second. I don't know if that's such a good idea, Kendall.
Kendall: Well, why not?
Ryan: Well, because Spike just had major surgery. He's not ready to leave the ICU, never mind fly to Dallas. I think it's a little bit risky.
Kendall: Since when are you in charge of what happens to our son? You heard the doctor, Ryan. Spike can't get any real treatment until they -- they know what's caused his deafness. And they can do that with this equipment in Dallas.
Ryan: When it is safe for him to travel.
Kendall: Yeah, according to you.
Ryan: No, according to the doctors that are -- that are treating him.
Kendall: I can't stand this, Ryan. I -- I can't. Look at him. Look at our son. I'm whispering like he can hear me. Ryan, when he's asleep, he's so peaceful. But when he's awake, and he's looking around, he's confused and scared, and I want to help him, and there's not a damn thing I can do to fix it.
Annie: Um -- Dr. Norton, there's a bit of a disagreement here.
Kendall: Is it safe for Spike to fly?
Ryan: Kendall --
Kendall: No, I -- I just -- I need to know if it's safe for him.
Dr. Norton: Normally, we have to be concerned with pressure in the cabin increasing the risk of clots forming. Spike's situation is far more complicated. Think how many times you have to clear your ears as the altitude changes. Spike can't do that. Right now, the hearing loss is reversible. The flight could make it permanent.
Kendall: Ok. So the diagnostic equipment exists, but we can't use it, so why even bring it up?
Dr. Norton: Spike isn't in immediate danger. If his recovery from the surgery continues at this pace, I'll monitor the hearing problem --
Kendall: Oh, so you can't even tell me when he'll get the help that he needs?
Ryan: Kendall, take it easy.
Kendall: No, you know what? Are we supposed to be impressed with you? You have this new, shiny hunk of metal in Dallas, and it -- it doesn't matter a damn if Spike can get to it or not? If we can help him?
Annie: Spike will get there.
Kendall: No, "someday" is not good enough.
Dr. Norton: You only need to be patient for a little while.
Kendall: Well, I would love to hear you tell that to your wife if your son were lying here not knowing what the hell is going on.
Ryan: Kendall, you really need to calm down.
Kendall: No -- stop! Stop it! I'm so sick of everybody telling me to calm down. Listen, everyone told me to calm down when I was -- when I was in labor, ok? It didn't help. It didn't help me, Ryan, all right? Ian -- my other child, Ian, is still very premature, and everything went to hell. Greenlee took Spike. She nearly ran him -- she ran him off the road, and now you know what? My son can't hear. So you know when I'll calm down, Ryan? I will calm down when my son can hear my voice again.
Jack: I got a message from Greenlee. She was pretty upset, it seemed. But with everything that was going on, I never got --
Erica: Yeah, I know, I know. The -- ahem -- the drug sting.
Jack: Erica, I was trying to get Sean's record cleared. All right? My God, you must know, if I had any idea what was going on there, I would have been there.
Erica: Ok, look, the truth is what's happened has happened, and there's nothing -- nothing that can undo it. And my only concern is for Kendall --
Jack: Look --
Erica: And Ian, and Spike.
Jack: Let me go with you. Let me go with you, see if there's anything I can do, huh?
Erica: Jack, what you can do is leave the police work to Derek and take care of your daughter.
Jack: I had a serious talk with Greenlee after the accident.
Erica: It was not an accident.
Jack: And I told her -- rather, I should say, I suggested to her that her smartest move might be to leave Pine Valley altogether.
Erica: You "suggested"?
Jack: Yeah -- what -- what do you want me to do, hold a gun to her head?
Erica: Jack, Greenlee is a criminal. I mean, she belongs in jail. The very least she could do would be to have the decency to -- to leave the scene of her crime. What she did to Spike -- there's no coming back from that. Jack, Greenlee is unbalanced. She's dangerous. Please, Jack, I -- I can't reach her.
Jack: So it's up to me.
Erica: You are the closest to Greenlee, you're her father. She loves you. And I know that you would just really want to hold your daughter close to you -- even closer at a time like this. But the truth is, Jack, you have got to convince her to go, for her own sake. Please, Jack, please. Make Greenlee leave town. Get her some professional help. Please, Jack, I'm begging you.
Krystal: Oh, no, no, no, no. Not there, not there.
Tad: Not where?
Krystal: You're going to drip milk all over the new sofa.
Tad: The hell I will. What, am I 5 years old?
Krystal: Well, I don't know. You're eating chocolate bars in your cereal, so you tell me.
Tad: Don't knock it till you try it -- come on.
Krystal: I don't want to set a bad example for the kids.
Tad: You're setting a bad example -- clearly, we got a little more negotiating to do.
Krystal: Yes, yes, we do.
Babe: What is that? O is for orange.
Krystal: Oh. Your mama and I are the luckiest ducks in the world, you know that, Little A?
Little Adam: Look at this!
Babe: Let me see.
Krystal: You know why? You know why?
Babe: Because we have happy, healthy children.
Krystal: Hmm. Any news about Kendall?
Little Adam: I'm done with this.
Babe: No. I don't know -- I haven't heard. I just -- I feel so bad for her.
Little Adam: I'm done with this.
Tad: Well, just stay positive. You know what they say -- no news is --
Krystal: Is good news, I hope.
Babe: Yeah. So, you --
Little Adam: Go get my box.
Babe: Your box? We'll get the box. Did you have fun on the sleepover while I was slaving away at Fusion?
Krystal: Let me tell you, those two children had a ball.
Tad: Well, one of them did. Jenny slept during the entire thing.
Krystal: No, I was talking about Little A and you.
Tad: Oh -- a whole house full of comedians. Hear that? Your grandmother's a regular barrel full of monkeys.
Babe: Hey, where's Colby?
Krystal: Oh. She's opening The Comeback, bless her heart. There's just so much to do around here. I got to get furniture, I got to Tad-proof the place.
Tad: Would you give it up? I told you, if you want to unpack the rest of the stuff, you unpack it.
Krystal: Well, I will. At least I won't break anything.
Tad: Come on, Krystal, it was -- it was nothing. It was one stupid glass. Not even a glass. It was a reconstituted jelly jar or something.
Krystal: Oh, come on.
Babe: It's going to be ok, you two. Stop. It's a thing. It can be replaced.
Tad: Who'd want to? It had a cartoon duck etched on it. I can go down to the gas station and get her a whole new set.
Krystal: Ok, wait a minute, wait a minute. No, Babe is right. I don't need anything. I have everything I want right here.
Babe: Yes, we do.
Tad: Hey, look at this. All hail the conquering hero.
Babe: Oh! Say "hi."
J.R.: Hey, big man! Come here. Come see your dad. Oh, boy!
Krystal: I -- I heard you and Ava made quite a splash.
J.R.: It wasn't that big of a deal.
Tad: Oh, yeah, maybe not to superdad. Check it out.
J.R.: Oh, you got to be kidding me.
Babe: J.R., do you want to go outside and watch Little A play for a bit before I have to take off for Fusion?
Tad: Go ahead. Take a spin around the backyard. Probably be the last time you see the lawn.
Krystal: We're putting in a sandbox and some swings.
Tad: And a small log flume.
Tad: So you going to be ok, unpacking the rest of the stuff? Stuart's going to be here painting. I'll go downstairs and check the electrical.
Krystal: You know, Tad, this is going to take some getting used to.
Tad: What are you talking about? I thought we agreed we'd do the work, feels more like a home, and we get to spend some quality time with Jenny.
Krystal: I finally figured out why you wanted me to move in here with you.
J.R.: These idiot reporters won't leave me alone.
Babe: Yeah, well, it's not every day that a Chandler heir saves a model from a crazy drug dealer.
J.R.: Yeah, well, they should be covering real news. This is over.
Babe: J.R., what you did -- it was -- it was brave, but it was crazy. And Little A -- he does not need a hero, he needs a father. A living, breathing father.
Stuart: Oh, boy. All theses boxes and stuff -- it's -- looks just like Krystal and Tad's place. Um -- you look awful. Do you want to sit down? Do you -- is it your heart?
Adam: I don't have a heart. Didn't you know that? No, I haven't eaten, I haven't slept. I'm -- I'm -- I'm worried about J.R.
Stuart: But he's fine. He -- he saved that girl's life. He's a hero.
Adam: No, he's a fool. A lucky one, thank God.
Stuart: Why don't you sit down? I'll make you a sandwich.
Adam: You know, lousy judgment when you're plastered is one thing, but this -- there was no excuse. He could have been killed.
Stuart: Yeah. This is -- oh, this is Colby's stuff.
Adam: That was my company last night -- packing boxes.
Stuart: You got a lot on your heart.
Adam: On my mind.
Stuart: Yeah. Colby's moving in with -- should finish moving in with Tad and Krystal today. Boy. Boy, this place has always seemed big. Really big, but now that it's empty -- empty, empty, empty, empty. Sorry.
Adam: You know, everything I've done, everything I've achieved, everything I've accomplished has been for them, for my family, and they -- they've all deserted me. J.R., Colby -- everyone that I've loved. Little Adam, my namesake, for God's sake -- my grandson -- Adam III. Where the hell is he?
Stuart: He's at Tad and Krystal's.
Stuart: I just -- I talked to Krystal, and she said that they wanted to keep him over there because Babe -- uh -- Babe worked so late last night.
Adam: Yeah, I -- I saw Little Adam with Colby at the Yacht Club. She yanked him away from me.
Stuart: Oh, Little A still loves you.
Adam: I -- J.R. claims that he doesn't hate me. Huh. But he's turned his back on everything I've done for him. Everything. Tad Martin has turned him against me.
Stuart: Oh, he wouldn't do that.
Adam: Oh, don't be a fool. And he'll do it to Colby, too. He'll keep after her until she detests me. You have Marian, you have Scott.
Stuart: Yeah. Yeah, we keep in touch all the time. We e-mail back and forth every week. And he's still with that film crew in South Africa.
Adam: You won't die alone, Stuart.
Stuart: Oh, you won't die alone, Adam.
Adam: I'm already dead. Haven't you noticed? God, I pushed them away from me. But now I need them. I need my family. And I don't know what to do.
Stuart: J.R. will never stop loving you. Never, even -- no matter where he moves to or what job he does or anything. He just -- he just needs to be independent, Adam, that's all. And -- and little Colby -- she couldn't possibly be that mad at you if she didn't love you.
Adam: Colby will have nothing to do with me.
Stuart: Well, it'll take time, but you two will get close again.
Adam: Yeah, right -- about the time Krystal and Tad invite me into their bedroom. I'm set.
Stuart: Krystal is family, too.
Adam: Not anymore.
Stuart: You finally found a woman that was right for you.
Adam: She's shacking up with Tad Martin.
Stuart: Well, you've both made mistakes, big mistakes, but -- but you should be able to -- to make them right again.
Adam: Yeah, it ain't going to happen. The woman has the morals of a stoat. Colby will never set foot in this house again. Unless you paint her portrait for me.
Stuart: Well, I am going to be painting over there today over at Tad and Krystal's house.
Adam: Well, be sure to not give them my regards.
Stuart: That's how you could spend time with Colby.
Adam: She doesn't want to see me, Stuart.
Stuart: She'll see me. And it'll be you. Uncle Stuart.
Adam: You made me swear I would never impersonate you again.
Stuart: I take it back. Paint very slowly. Primer, base coat, second coat. And by the time you get to the -- the rag rolling and the glazing, I'll take over.
Adam: What the devil --
Stuart: And as me, you will have convinced Colby that you, Adam, really love her.
Adam: Have you lost your mind?
Stuart: No, it's like my favorite song. "The ants and the rubber tree plants." Come on, you -- you can do this. Adam, you can do this. You can -- you can make it work. You can get Colby to give you another chance. I've got high hopes. Yes, I do. Come on. Pull yourself together and -- [As Adam] "Go, man. No, guts and no glory."
Stuart: [Normal voice] Come on, Adam. Adam, be the ant.
Dr. Norton: I'll be right back.
Kendall: So, it's his way or no way?
Ryan: I don't know what you want me to say. I mean, the guy is a specialist.
Kendall: Yes, I understand that, Ryan, but his special equipment is thousands of miles away. I mean, I guess, you know, we don't even have to fly. We can drive. We can drive.
Ryan: Kendall -- Kendall, a toddler who's just had major surgery -- you want to pack him in a car? It's too risky.
Kendall: No, listen to me. Listen, it can be a bus. It can be a bus. It can be one of those deluxe things that -- that rock stars tour in, and he can have an army of doctors with him.
Ryan: Ok. All right, listen. The hearing loss is not life-threatening, ok? There's no deadline here.
Kendall: Ryan, I want our son back to normal as soon as possible.
Ryan: Of course, you do, and so do I, Kendall.
Kendall: Ok, but -- but instead of making it happen, you'd rather just sit back and wait?
Annie: Ryan, could you get us some coffee, please?
Kendall: No, I'm awake enough. I don't need comforting or cheerleading. So if -- if you're going to say something that remotely resembles that, then you can just forget it, ok?
Annie: Ok. You're frustrated as hell. So is Ryan.
Kendall: This isn't about us, what we're going through. This is about Spike and what it's like for him. One day, you can hear your mommy singing the giggle and wiggle song to you, hear your daddy telling you these crazy stories. And then the next day, nothing. What happened to the sound? What is Spike thinking? Why did this happen to him? I will not -- I will not let my son dance to tunes that he dimly remembers from years ago. I will not let him be different or cut off from the world.
Annie: It's an awful feeling when someone needs you, and you can't help them. It's the worse feeling in the world.
Zach: Everything is for sale. I don't care how much it costs. You owe me, make it happen. Fast.
Tad: Honestly, I must be losing something in translation. What's the problem, my personality? My sugary-sweet breakfast cereal?
Krystal: Tad -- Tad --
Tad: Well -- look, we've gone over this, you know, 100 times.
Krystal: I know, but you're not letting me get a word in edgewise.
Tad: Because I know what you're going to say, Krystal. Once and for all, all I need from you is a little platonic, co-parenting bliss, that's all.
Krystal: I don't think that you're putting the moves on me.
Tad: So what's the problem? What's my big ulterior motive for asking you to live with me?
Krystal: Ok, when I was with Adam and I was pregnant and I was determined to pass off the baby as his, I was being completely selfish.
Tad: Tell me something I don't know.
Krystal: And if I hadn't been forced to tell the truth, I probably would have taken that secret to the grave.
Tad: Make your point, Krystal.
Krystal: My point is you know that sharing this house is keeping me in your sights. You don't think that I have enough willpower, right? You're afraid that I can't steer clear of Adam.
J.R.: What do you really think I'm doing? What do you think, I'm hang-gliding? Base-jumping? I'm not one of these adrenaline-freak junkies. What happened was a reflex. But it -- it wasn't something I planned.
Babe: Yeah, but it was still your instinct to walk in there. Because you're J.R. Chandler, you think that you can never get hurt.
J.R.: No, no. I can get hurt. What I did was dumb. Yeah, I'm going to admit it. But it worked out.
Babe: Yeah, this time. But not like any of that would even matter to Little A. What would I say to him? "Sweetie, your daddy's not going to be coming to see you today." "How about tomorrow, Mommy?" "No, not tomorrow, or the next day, or the next day, or the next week, or the next month."
J.R.: I get it, Babe.
Babe: No, you're not getting it, J.R., because I'm the one that would have to sit down and tell him, like, "Your daddy -- he's not here. You can't see him or touch him, but he'll always be with you, because he did something crazy, and he got shot"?
J.R.: If I'd known what I was walking into, I would have detoured. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I scared you.
Babe: Everyone who knows you was terrified. Especially your father.
J.R.: Well, if Ava would have had a brain behind that face of Fusion, she would have kept her mouth shut. We would have been safe in no time.
Babe: Look, J.R, I'm not trying to control you or nag. Believe me, that's not what I'm trying to do. I just -- I don't know -- I just -- I want you safe, I want you happy.
J.R.: Yeah, well, I have a better chance at that now that Chandler Enterprises is off my back.
Babe: Cutting that cord with your father was the best thing you could have ever done.
Adam: [As Stuart] Oh -- huh.
J.R.: Uncle Stuart. They're putting you to work, huh?
Adam: Uh -- yeah, yeah. I'm -- I'm going to do some painting today. It's -- it's a housewarming present.
J.R.: You don't look so good, Uncle Stuart. What's going on?
Jack: I love Kendall like she was my own daughter. You know that, and I will make sure -- I will do everything I can to make sure that Greenlee comes nowhere around Kendall and Spike, ok?
Erica: But you said that you cannot control Greenlee, you can't force her to do anything that she doesn't want to do.
Jack: Erica, I'm offering you all the help that I can.
Erica: Jack, Greenlee needs professional help. I mean, if you can't see that, then -- there's nothing more to say.
Jack: Erica, wait. Huh. Livia needs to know how to proceed. I had her stall our divorce proceedings.
Erica: Why did you do that?
Annie: You and Ryan both want the same thing -- for Spike to be well again.
Kendall: Yeah, we're just not together on the "how" or "when."
Annie: He is as anxious as you are for them to diagnose the problem and start treatment. Don't make Ryan the enemy, Kendall. You guys need each other now more than ever. You have to stick together.
Kendall: I didn't mean to snap at Ryan. If it's dangerous for Spike to travel, then obviously, I don't want to make things worse. I'm just so --
Annie: You're not alone.
Kendall: Oh --
Ryan: So what do you think about driving Spike to Dallas? Do you think it's too risky?
Dr. Norton: At this point, I strongly advise against it. I'll follow Spike's progress here and do all that I can, believe me.
Ryan: Thank you.
Zach: Did he fill you in?
Ryan: Mm-hmm. The tests that Spike need means we have to get on a plane, only Spike can't get on a plane, so we just have to wait. It's a dead end.
Zach: Not anymore -- the mountain is coming to Mohammed.
Babe: You do look sort of flushed -- maybe you're getting sick?
Adam: [As Stuart] No, no, no, I feel right as rain. Really, it's just -- it's just -- wow. We -- we've been watching the television, the news, and -- and Marian and I were really afraid that that crazy druggie guy, that junky guy would -- would kill -- would hurt you.
J.R.: Yeah, well, no more worries about that, ok?
Adam: Ok. Ok, well, I got to get -- I got to get going. I got to get started, so --
Adam: Thank you.
Tad: Gastrointestinal distress.
Krystal: Oh, come on, Tad, don't make fun of me.
Adam: Boy -- great. Great. Great! Great day for painting.
Adam: Oh, where -- where should I start?
Krystal: Well, I guess the living room is as good as any place.
Adam: Uh, I -- I could start with Colby's room and then just work my way down.
Tad: I'm sorry, Stuart. She still hasn't picked a color yet, but I thought you brought that for in here?
Adam: Yes -- of course, yeah. Of course you did. Uh, maybe I could take Colby to a -- a hardware store and then we could have the little paper samples and she could pick out the one she wants.
Krystal: Uh, maybe tomorrow. She's already at The Comeback, so --
Adam: Oh. Right.
Tad: Hey, and just so you know, FYI -- I haven't got a problem with you. I have a problem with Adam.
Krystal: Tad, I don't expect you to forgive me completely.
Tad: I -- I'm working on it.
Krystal: I guess I do still have a weakness for Adam. I --
Tad: Oh, go figure. Some people never learn, right, Stuart?
Adam: Oh -- huh. I'm trying not to -- to listen but, um, can't help it. I'm -- I'm right here and everything.
Tad: Oh, come on. You're family.
Krystal: Tad, I know that Adam is the reason why you asked me to live with you, and he's the reason why I accepted. Living here is like putting up a wall between Adam and me, and it's a wall that he can't climb over even if he wanted to.
Tad: You hope.
Krystal: Why does Adam still get to me? How can he? I -- I want to get over him. I don't want to love Adam anymore.
Jack: We decided to stop the divorce -- both of us.
Erica: A lot has happened since then.
Jack: And if I could change what happened, if I could ensure that Kendall and Spike and Ian -- any of our family -- never were hurt again, you know I would.
Erica: As long as it doesn't involve Greenlee.
Jack: Whatever Greenlee did or didn't do, she never meant to hurt Kendall or her children.
Erica: Jack, you can't be that naive.
Jack: Greenlee's my daughter. She has no one else. I will stand by her.
Erica: No matter what?
Jack: That's the way it is with parents and children. I would think you, better than anyone else, would know that.
Erica: Well, then, you tell me, Jack -- how could I possibly stay married to a man who is so insistent on protecting the woman who is trying to destroy my daughter? You tell me -- how could I justify that?
Zach: You were exactly where you were supposed to be -- looking after Spike. I made a couple of phone calls.
Ryan: Have you told Kendall yet?
Zach: Nope. I haven't had time. With Spike and Ian, it's just been --
Ryan: You got to go tell her. This is going to take a lot of pressure off of her.
Kendall: Hey. How's Ian?
Zach: He's sleeping like a baby.
Kendall: Oh, God.
Ryan: Hey, what do you say we go check in on Spike, huh?
Kendall: Ryan, wait a minute -- wait, wait. Um -- I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you. So I -- I think you're right. Whatever we need to do for Spike, we'll do, even if that means watching and waiting.
Zach: Well, the waiting's over. Pine Valley Hospital is going high tech. The equipment we need is being delivered.
Babe: Ok, how about do a full-page mockup? Yeah. No, no, no, no, we definitely need to wait on that. Um -- can you send me what PR has so far? Ok. The whole thing is we don't want to exploit what happened to Ava, but it's not going to hurt to hear her name dropped every once in a while when they're pitching for interviews. Ok. So, can you keep me posted on that? Perfect. Thanks. What, you don't agree?
J.R.: I'm -- I'm just amazed. You're practically running Fusion yourself.
Babe: Oh, no, I'm not running anything. I mean, with Kendall in the hospital and Greenlee the persona that nobody wants around, somebody had to step in.
J.R.: Hmm. And you're running Comeback and you're raising Little Adam.
Babe: Not alone.
J.R.: I'm just impressed.
Babe: Well, that makes two of us. So, how about you? You looking to make a new start?
J.R.: Hmm. This time, I want to make it stick.
Babe: You know, when I met you in San Diego, that's exactly what you were doing. You wanted to make a new start, too.
J.R.: Yeah. Didn't quite work out.
Babe: Well, some things were out of your control. But you can do it.
J.R.: You certainly thought I could.
Babe: I still think you can -- that is, if you avoid hostage situations and stay away from tramp steamers.
J.R.: You sound like a wife.
Babe: Well, Little A will always be our connection. I'll always care about you.
J.R.: Yeah, I know. Me, too.
Krystal: You were so sweet to do this.
Adam: [As Stuart] Huh.
Krystal: Look at you -- you haven't even started painting yet, and you have it all over your face.
Tad: All right.
Tad: Well, that's it for me, folks. Remember to tip your waiters.
Krystal: Oh -- work?
Tad: Yeah. Aidan just called, he's got a break on something. I'll be back as soon as I -- I can get here, ok?
Krystal: Ok. Bye. Oh, yes. Oh, my little girl. Come here. Yes, you're sleeping so good. Yes, you are. Maybe I should put you up.
Krystal: Oh. Hang on. Hang on. Hello? Colby? Colby, slow down. No, slower -- what? The entire freezer? Oh, no. Ok. All right, no. I'll -- I'll be there as soon as I can. Ok, bye. Oh, God. Ok. You just stay with Uncle Stuart, ok? I know you don't mind, right? I'll be back as soon as I can.
Adam: Oh -- um -- well, um --
Ryan: You'll be ok.
Annie: Ah. Now, this is more like it. Was it horribly expensive?
Zach: Still got a few bucks left.
Annie: It was really generous, Zach -- not just for Spike, but for other kids, too.
Zach: I just want to get a plaque or something in the lobby -- what do you think?
Annie: For sure -- at least, like a statue or something.
Zach: Yeah, a small one.
Annie: But I know Ryan wants to chip in on this, too. We'd be glad to give money for the machine.
Zach: I know that. Not a problem.
Kendall: Hmm. I wish we could tell Spike the good news.
Ryan: Why don't you? No, seriously, why don't you tell him? I mean, he'll see your smile, he'll pick up on the good vibe. Must be a little bit of a bummer, always seeing us so upset, and --
Ryan: You know, making such a fuss.
Kendall: You know what? Things are going to be great -- you know why? Because you're going to get all better before you know it. That's right, honey. Daddy Zach fixed it.
Ryan: Thank you.
Jack: I guess each of us has to do what we have to do. But I'm not turning my back on my daughter, not for you or anyone else.
Erica: I wasn't asking you to.
Jack: Yes, you were. Yes, you were -- you were asking me to choose.
Erica: I wasn't. But you have.
Pam: Tell me you got it all.
Cameraman: Yeah. I got it.
Adam: Oh, now, no, don't cry, don't cry. You don't have anything to cry -- cry about. Um -- yeah, um -- I got to go. Sorry, got to -- uh -- got to -- got to go.
Babe: Hey, baby, come here, come here.
Krystal: Hey. Oh, I got to go. Where -- where's Stuart?
J.R.: He just raced out of here.
Krystal: Oh. Oh, honey. I -- I heard her crying.
Babe: Uh, he was acting -- Stuart was acting weird. Yeah, she was --
Krystal: Well, I heard her a little bit. Are you worried about Uncle Stuart, huh? Hmm -- oh. Don't worry about him. I know you miss him.
Zach: How long will it take to set up?
Dr. Norton: You really -- and it's being delivered?
Zach: Today -- how long will it take?
Dr. Norton: A couple of hours to set up, test runs, make sure everything's properly calibrated.
Zach: And then we can test Spike?
Dr. Norton: First thing in the morning.
Kendall: Well, when will we know the results?
Dr. Norton: Complete testing takes a couple of hours. As soon as it's done, I'll be able to make my diagnosis.
Kendall: Well, this is treatable. This is treatable. We will follow whatever -- whatever you advise and -- and Spike will hear again. I know he will.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Greenlee: Let me go!
Aidan: Look around. If you look real close, you could even see Spike's blood.
Annie: You're going to know that this was all wrong.
Ryan: This is not the woman that I married.
Kendall: I have to get out of here! You have to help me. Please get me out of here!
