[As the heartbeat monitor beeps, Zach watches Kendall sleep in her hospital bed]

Joe: Zach? This is Dr. Delano, the specialist we talked about.

Zach: Thanks for flying in on short notice.

Joe: Yeah.

Dr. Delano: Yeah, Joe was just filling me in on your wife's condition.

Joe: And we've been treating her with antibiotics, corticosteroid, magnesium sulfate.

Dr. Delano: Any evidence of fetal distress?

Joe: None so far.

[Somewhere in a dark ravine, Greenlee awakens upside down in the wrecked car and looks around]

Zach: Hey. How do you do that? You open your eyes and the whole room gets brighter. Do you know where you are?

Kendall: The hospital -- I had labor pains. Oh, my God, the baby.

[Hanging upside down, Greenlee finds moving painful]

Greenlee: Oh -- oh -- oh -- oh -- oh --

Joe: Your baby is fine, Kendall. We gave you some medication last night to stop the contractions, you remember? Your little guy's heartbeat is strong and steady and no signs of distress.

Kendall: Is he really ok?

Zach: You heard the doctor.

Joe: But if you want to keep it that way, you have to stay in bed and get plenty of rest.

Zach: Which means no more worrying about our little boy.

Greenlee: Spike? Spike? Just -- ugh -- say something, Spike. Spike, baby? Say -- Spike, say something. Oh! Oh!

Zach: Dr. Delano is the best in the country. He came in from Houston, and he looked at your charts --

Kendall: You -- you flew in a specialist? I -- I thought that you said the baby was fine. Zach, is there a chance we could still lose our baby?

Greenlee: Spike, I'm -- I'm -- I'm coming, Spikey. Just hold on, baby, hold on. Agh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Spike? Spike? Oh -- oh -- oh -- oh, God, no.

Greenlee: Spike? Oh -- hold -- hold on, Spike, I'm coming.

[Greenlee groans as she looks around for the baby, then spots the car seat lying outside the car]

Greenlee: Oh, no, damn it. Oh! Oh, don't do this, damn it! Oh -- oh! Oh! Oh!

[Greenlee groans as she tries to release herself from the seatbelt]

Zach: We had a scare last night, but we made it through. And Joe says the baby's going to be fine, and I believe him. It doesn't mean that we can't take precautions, make sure it doesn't happen again.

Kendall: Do you have any idea what you mean to us?

Jack: Kissing and walking -- not bad.

Erica: Let's do it.

[Jack chuckles]

Erica: Oh, Jack, would you just -- just call the pilot, just tell him we want to go back?

Jack: Sweetheart, don't tempt me. I would gladly forgo the finale of "The New Divorce" for some more time with my woman.

Erica: Oh, no.

Jack: Yes.

Erica: Oh, it is today, isn't it?

Jack: Yes, it is.

Erica: Oh, no. I wish we didn't have to stay married.

Jack: Well, you could've fooled me.

Erica: I mean it.

[Jack chuckles]

Erica: I really like this illicit affair of ours.

Jack: Yeah, me, too. Let me clue you in on something. Come here.

Erica: What?

Jack: What I'll say is if you think I'm going to let us go back to boring and unpredictable after this, you are -- what they call in the trade -- nuts.

Erica: You're never boring.

Pam: Erica --

Erica: Pam -- what are you doing here?

Pam: I've been trying to reach you.

Josh: Erica, thank God, Pam knew where to find you.

Erica: Josh, what -- what? What is it? What's going on?

Josh: Kendall went into labor last night.

Erica: No, it's much too soon.

Josh: There's more -- Spike's gone. Greenlee took him.

Greenlee: Oh -- oh -- oh, come on. Come on -- come on, come on. Ok, just figure a way out of this, Greenlee. Ok, I can cut it. Oh --

[Greenlee grunts as she reaches for a sharp piece of glass with which to cut the seatbelt holding her]

Greenlee: I'm coming, Spike. Spike, I'm coming.

Dr. Delano: Seeing as your husband went to all the trouble of flying me all the way out here, why don't we give him his money's worth and start that exam?

Sara: I'm standing outside the Pine Valley Hospital, where inside Fusion mogul Kendall Hart-Slater has been admitted for an undisclosed medical condition, possibly involving her unborn child. And as if that weren't enough trauma, an Amber Alert has been issued for her baby boy, missing since late last night. The 1-year-old, Spike Lavery, the son of Ms. Hart-Slater and former Cambias Industries CEO Ryan Lavery, was last seen with this woman, Greenlee Smythe. She was driving a black four-dour sedan with dark-colored interior. The license plate number -- DDK-9933.

Di: Hey -- hey.

Babe: Oh, thank God you're here.

Di: I was hoping we'd get here and you would tell us that -- that Greenlee just took a wrong turn, and -- and that Spike's just home safe --

Babe: I just -- I got back from the police station. I told Derek everything that I could to help with the search, but I'm not even sure it was much help.

Annie: This can't be happening.

Babe: It -- they're going to find him, Annie. He's going to be home soon, Spike will be home.

Di: Well, how's Kendall?

Babe: She's stable, last I heard.

Annie: Well, thank God for that.

Babe: So did you guys come here straight from New York?

Di: Yeah.

Annie: Well, after we heard about Kendall and Spike, we couldn't go through with a concept launch, obviously, so -- hi. Stay positive, ok? You have to believe that we'll have him back soon. Whatever you need from me --

Ryan: I know, I know.

Di: Please tell me there's some hope?

Tad: Well, there's always room for hope. Derek's got squad cars and helicopters canvassing the entire valley --

[Di sighs]

Tad: And the outskirts.

Aidan: Ryan, Tad and I have everyone on this. We will find them.

Ryan: Hey. How is she?

Joe: We managed to get her contractions under control last night. Zach brought in a specialist who's in there now. I think we have good reason to be optimistic.

Annie: Great. That's great news.

Ryan: And she still doesn't know about Spike?

Zach: No, and I've instructed the hospital staff to do the same. It's best that way.

Jonathan: Ryan, I'm so sorry.

Ryan: I know. It's ok. Thanks for coming.

Jonathan: No, no, we're going to find Spike, ok? I'm going to help you find -- we're all going to help you find Spike.

[Greenlee grunts, bleeding, until she's finally free]

Greenlee: Ugh -- ooh --

[Greenlee groans as she tries to crawl toward the baby but collapses]

Aidan: Derek's going to want to question you both about the last time you were with Greenlee, so how about we go down to the police station now, huh?

Di: Yeah, no problem.

Annie: Um, could -- could you ask Derek to call when he's ready for me? I'd rather stay here for a little while.

Di: Ok.

Aidan: Yeah, sure.

Babe: Greenlee did -- Greenlee didn't want to drive Spike.

Ryan: Excuse me?

Babe: She wanted to drive Kendall to the hospital in her car, and -- but Kendall insisted that I go with her. I -- I was so focused on Kendall. I -- I should've paid more attention, I should've realized something was wrong with Greenlee.

Ryan: Wait a minute, wait a minute -- wait. You're telling me that Greenlee basically gave you a warning not to leave her alone with Spike, and, what, you just blew it off? I mean, you didn't even think for one second what kind of a colossal mistake that would be -- to leave "Greenlee" alone with my son?

Babe: I wish I had it to do over again.

Ryan: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Jamie: How's he holding up?

Babe: Oh -- not so good.

Jamie: My shift has ended. Is there anything I can do to help?

Babe: Come with me?

Ryan: I shouldn't have ripped into her like that. No, I shouldn't. I mean, I -- I know that I am the one that brought her into this family -- against your better judgment and your better judgment. I know I -- I'm the one who told her that nobody would keep Spike from her, I am the one who nearly pushed Kendall into holding him with her.

Annie: No -- you reached out. You did not give that woman permission to steal your son.

Zach: What possible difference would that have made to Greenlee? I backed off of her once before and that was a mistake. And when Spike comes back here, I'm going to make sure that Greenlee leaves Pine Valley permanently. She's not going to get close to my wife or that little boy ever again.

Erica: Where -- where is Kendall? Joe -- Joe, how is Kendall? Please, tell me that she's ok.

Joe: She's fine, Erica. She's in with a specialist now.

Erica: And -- and the baby?

Joe: Staying put for now.

Jack: Oh, thank God for that.

Joe: I'm going in right now to see how the exam's going, but if there's any change, I'll let you know, ok?

Josh: Thanks, Joe. Has anyone heard from Greenlee?

Erica: Yes, please, please tell me that they found Spike.

Tad: Ryan?

Ryan: What -- what did Derek say, Tad?

Tad: Look, I wish I had something new to tell you, but I don't.

Ryan: No -- nothing at all? No leads, no --

Tad: It's still early yet. Look, we got people working on every single lead we've got. You just got to keep the faith, ok? You got to hang in there.

Erica: If that selfish little lunatic did anything to Spike --

Jack: Erica, please -- please don't, please don't. We don't know a thing yet, so please don't.

Erica: What -- what, Jack?

Ryan: Jackson -- Jackson, last time Greenlee disappeared, you are the only one that she contacted.

Jack: I've checked my cell phone a dozen times and left at least that many messages.

Zach: Where do you think she took him?

Jack: To be honest, I'm not convinced that she did take him.

Erica: Oh, Jack --

Jack: Now, listen to me, listen to me. Everybody around here is so quick to throw around the accusations. But do we know for a fact that she took that child?

[As Spike fusses, Greenlee opens her eyes]

Greenlee: Spike? Oh -- Spike, you're alive, thank God.

[Greenlee groans as she struggles to crawl out of the car]

Greenlee: It's ok, Spike. It's ok, Spike.

[Spike fusses]

Greenlee: Oh! Oh, I'm here. Auntie Greenlee is here. I'm coming to get you. Ok -- come on, Greenlee. You can do this.

[Greenlee grunts and moves a few inches at a time toward the sound of the baby]

Greenlee: Oh -- ok, ok, just hold on, Spike. Just hold on.

Erica: So what's your theory, Jack?

Jack: I don't have a theory. I would just like to know what led up to all this. I mean, did -- did Greenlee say or do anything that would suggest she had kidnapping in mind?

Zach: Well, let's see -- she threatened to sue for custody of Spike and told anyone that would listen that the boy was hers.

Ryan: According to Babe, Greenlee tried to get out of driving Spike, she wanted to take Kendall to the hospital instead.

Tad: Why didn't she?

Ryan: Because Kendall wanted Babe with her.

Erica: Babe?

Annie: Maybe Greenlee had a last-minute pang of conscience.

Erica: Conscience -- Greenlee? Kendall displayed such trust in -- in Greenlee -- she handed over her son. And what does Greenlee do? She -- she used it as another opportunity to try to destroy my daughter.

Jack: Please, I'm begging you, don't be dramatic -- it's not helping.

Zach: She's not being dramatic, Jackson, she's right. I've been keeping an eye on Greenlee, and she's been watching Kendall this whole time, over and over again. You know what I think? I think she's jealous.

Josh: I'm not so sure about that.

Zach: What do you know? You've known Greenlee for what, five minutes?

Josh: What I do know is the last time I talked to her, it was like Jack said -- she was at peace, she wanted to move on.

Zach: All right.

Erica: Look, Greenlee has been stalking Kendall since she came back to town, and now she has used one of the most vulnerable moments in Kendall's life to make her move. So, I mean, we can stand here, we can debate this for ten years. But, Jack, you'll never change my mind -- Greenlee stole Spike.

Greenlee: I'm coming, Spike.

[Spike fusses]

Greenlee: Spike, please stop crying, I'm coming. I'm almost there.

Greenlee: Oh!

[Greenlee pants as she heaves herself onto the ground]

Greenlee: Oh -- oh -- oh! Oh -- I can't walk, baby. But I'm not going to give up.

[Greenlee grunts and pants as she slowly crawls toward the baby]

Greenlee: Auntie Greenlee doesn't give up.

[Greenlee groans as she recalls the events of the previous night]

[Car accelerates]

Greenlee: You were supposed to be mine since the moment you were created.

Greenlee: There's only one way to make this right -- you're mine now. My baby boy.

[Car accelerates]

Greenlee: It's ok, Spikey, it's fine. I made things right -- you're -- you're finally with the mother you're supposed to be with. And we're just going to go on a little trip, ok, and it's going to be really, really fun.

[Spike cries]

Greenlee: It's ok, Spike, it's ok. Please, just stop crying. It's going to be fine, we're going to have an amazing life together. It's going to be great.

[Spike cries]

Greenlee: Stop crying, Spike. Just stop crying, please. Please? Oh, God, this is so wrong! What am I doing? I'm sorry, Spike, you want Kendall, not me. It's wrong, this was a mistake, I'm so sorry. I'm going to take you back to her, I'm going to take you back to her right now. I'm going to take you to Kendall. I'm just going to get my phone. I'm just going to find it, and we're going to turn around to --

[Tires screech as Greenlee loses control and the car careens off the road]

[Spike cries]

Greenlee: "No!"

Greenlee: I'm sorry, Spike. I'm so sorry. I'm going to get you back to your mom.

[Greenlee grunts]

Ryan: You call me if anything changes, ok?

Annie: Yeah.

Zach: You're all finished?

Dr. Delano: I did a thorough examination, ran some more tests.

Erica: And how is Kendall?

Dr. Delano: She's stable -- her contractions have stopped.

Erica: Oh, thank God.

Dr. Delano: But I'd like to keep her on the mag sulfate another day.

Erica: Ok.

Zach: What else?

Dr. Delano: Your wife's cervix is 80% effaced, which means labor could start any time.

Joe: Which is something we want to prevent, give the baby more time to develop.

Dr. Delano: The steroids we've given her will help your son's lungs mature, which is critical -- respiratory problems are a major concern of premature births.

Josh: But that's worst-case scenario, right, Doctor? I mean, you're confident Kendall will carry to term?

Dr. Delano: That's the goal.

Zach: Kendall doesn't know about Spike.

Erica: Ok.

Kendall: Finally -- I thought everyone went to the movies.

Erica: Oh -- how are you feeling, honey?

Kendall: Hmm -- not bad. But I'm -- I'm stuck here for a while, that's a little depressing.

Erica: Oh, well, we're not going to let it be depressing. We are going to make sure you have a beautiful, big suite and -- and music and flowers and your friends and family.

Kendall: Spike -- that's all the company I need. I miss him so much. Will you have Ryan bring him to me?

[Greenlee groans]

Greenlee: Oh -- ok, ok, ok, ok, I'm here! Oh!

[Greenlee pants and coughs as she crawls along the ground then loses consciousness. Her phone starts ringing then stops as she weakly opens her eyes and her voicemail service beeps]

Jack: Sweetheart, it's your dad. I don't know how many messages this makes, but you've got to call me back. Please, I'm begging you. I don't know if you're hurt, angry, confused. Whatever it is, you know you can talk to me, right? So please, please call me back. She's my daughter. I have to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Annie: I think you should. Look, I'm not defending Greenlee, after all the trouble she's caused, but I can't see her taking Spike from Kendall. Not like this. Something isn't right.

[Jack nods in agreement]

Erica: Well, honey, you -- you can't see Spike right away, because he just -- he came down with a vicious cold last night. Just a fever, the sniffles -- the whole nine yards.

Kendall: Oh, no.

Erica: Yeah, he was -- he was so congested that he really didn't sleep very much, and -- and so Ryan is taking him to the pediatrician this morning. But -- but we both just feel it's -- it's best that, you know, he stay away from the hospital right now, until he's no longer contagious. I mean, you can understand that.

Kendall: No, of course, I do. I just -- I just wish I could be with him. My poor little guy.

Erica: Oh, you're going to be together again very soon. I just know it.

Babe: Do you remember that -- that little chapel in the woods? The one that I had the stained-glass window put in?

Jamie: In honor of Little Adam when you thought you lost him -- yeah, I remember.

Babe: There was something about that little church in the middle of nowhere that -- that made me believe in miracles. And I prayed so hard for one. I prayed that -- that my son would be found alive. And he was.

Jamie: I hate to be a downer, but that would also be the same place that I came up with the brilliant idea to kidnap him.

Babe: We thought we were saving him.

Jamie: And no matter how right it felt at the time, I'm always going to regret doing that to J.R.

Babe: Me, too. I think about it a lot. I mean, how could I justify taking a child from their parent?

Jamie: You think Greenlee's where we were?

Babe: God, I hope not.

Greenlee: Please help me, God. Oh -- oh --

[Greenlee winces as she turns herself over, crawls over the rocks to the car seat and takes Spike into her arms]

Greenlee: Oh -- oh -- oh -- Oh -- oh -- oh -- Oh -- Ok. Oh. Oh. Oh, oh. Ok. Ok, ok, ok, ok. I love you. Ok, angel. Oh, sweet angel. Oh, sweet angel, Greenlee's here. Greenlee's here.

Di: Derek, I'm sorry, I wish I had more to tell you, but -- I mean, Greenlee really seemed like she was turning a corner in the days leading up to all this and now it's like --

Ryan: Derek, tell me you got a lead or a cell signal or something. Tell me you got something.

Derek: In the five minutes since I spoke to Tad, no, Ryan, I have nothing new to report. I'm sorry.

Ryan: How is that possible? How does -- how does a woman disappear in a car with a baby on a busy highway and nobody at all sees -- I just don't understand how it's possible, that's all.

Officer: Chief, we just got a break in the Ramirez case.

Derek: Really?

Officer: Yeah.

Derek: Ok, I'll -- I'll be right there. Excuse me.

Ryan: Whoa, whoa, hold on a second. What, you're leaving right now?

Derek: I have other cases, Ryan.

Ryan: Really? Well, I don't give a damn about your other cases.

Derek: I understand that you're upset, but if you think I'm not giving 1,000% --

Ryan: Oh, you think I'm upset? I'll show you how -- I'll show you how upset --

Jonathan: Take it easy.

Tad: He's all right. It's all right. He's ok.

Derek: Look, it may seem like we're not getting anywhere, but I promise you, we're doing everything in our power to find your son and bring him home safe. Everything.

Tad: Jonathan --

Ryan: Look, if there's no way to track Greenlee down from this room, then I have no business being here, and I want to get --

Tad: I brought you here because I don't want you making a fool out of yourself.

Ryan: Well, I'm gone --

Tad: No.

Ryan: I want to get out!

Tad: Hey, stop. Don't you think I understand exactly how you feel? How helpless, how powerless, how stupid? Believe me, I do, and I sympathize. But running around tearing a hole in Derek, and anybody else that's trying to help you out is not going to do you any good. Being angry at the world, while understandable, is not going to bring your child back any sooner.

[Spike fusses]

Greenlee: Shh. Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. Ok. Ok -- shh, shh, shh, shh. Shh, shh, shh, shh. You're so quiet, Spike. Can you say "Mama"?

[Helicopter flies]

Greenlee: Can you say "Mama"? Oh. Look, a helicopter. Help! Yeah, yeah. Help! Help, down here! No, please!

[Helicopter passes]

Greenlee: Please, come back! Don't leave us! Oh. Shh, shh, shh, shh. Shh, shh, shh, shh. Shh, shh, shh, shh. Shh, shh, shh, shh.

Erica: She's putting on a brave face, but Kendall doesn't fool me. I mean, she is terrified she's going to lose her baby.

Jack: Of course.

Josh: Well, Erica, Dr. Delano is the best there is. Kendall couldn't be in better hands.

Erica: If only she knew that it's her other little boy who's really in danger.

Jack: Oh, sweetheart, come on, we don't know that for a fact.

Erica: Jack, yes, we do know that. Jack, why are you refusing to accept that your daughter Greenlee is -- is out of control?

Kendall: Where is Spike?

Zach: He's at home with a cold. Why can't you listen to your mother?

Kendall: I heard what she said.

Zach: Well, that's it, then.

Kendall: But I can't shake this feeling that something happened.

Zach: You're supposed to stay calm, so do that, all right? Try to stay calm.

Kendall: Don't do that, Zach. Don't blow me off. I know that look you get. I know that look you get when -- when you have bad news, and you're trying to protect me from it. Don't do that. And, Zach, I will find out from someone else if you don't tell me. Now, please. Come on, Zach, I'm his mother, ok? You can't keep it from me.

Zach: Greenlee never showed up with Spike. She was supposed to follow you to the hospital, and she never showed up. So we think that she never came back to Pine Valley, but we have people looking for her.

Kendall: Greenlee took my son?

Ryan: How do you do this, Tad? How do you live with this pain every single day?

Tad: I'll tell you one thing. Don't ever, not for one second, throw in the towel. Because if you do, the pain will get a lot worse. There are a lot of people out there counting on you to keep it together. That's your job, to keep the faith. Now let's go find your son.

Kendall: Spike -- Spike -- Spike -- Greenlee -- she took him! She took him, Zach! She took my baby, Zach! I need Spike! Please!

Zach: Shh. We'll get him back.

Kendall: Please find -- ow, ow, ow! Zach! Ow! Ow!

Zach: Joe!

Joe: Stay there.

Kendall: Spike! I need Spike!

Joe: You, too. Stay out.

Zach: She can't have this baby. It's too early.

Greenlee: Ok, ok. Ok, Spike. You're going to feel so much better after this. I'm just going to give you a little drink. Ok. Just drink this. Ok. Wait, Spike. Oh, no, wake up. Spike, wake up. Wake up, baby. Spike -- Spike, wake up. Wake up.

Zach: Hey. What's going on?

Dr. Delano: Your wife's having contractions.

Zach: Well, give her something to stop them. You've done that before.

Joe: Zach, Zach, we're trying. he's already increased the medication.

Zach: All right, so it should stop right away.

Dr. Delano: That's the hope, but frankly, Mr. Slater, I can't see anything stopping this baby from coming now.

Kendall: Spike! Spike! Spike!

Greenlee: Wake up, Spike. Spike, you have to wake up. Don't do this to me. You've got to wake up. You've got to wake up, Spike. Please -- please -- please say something. Just wake up. Please wake up.

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Adam (to Ava): Do you realize how much you've cost me?

Kendall (to Zach): Get the doctor. I think my water just broke.

Ryan: Greenlee?

Greenlee: Yes.

Ryan: Are you still in the car, Greenlee? Are you still in Pennsylvania? Where did you take my son?
