[Adam feels chest pain and pours himself some liquor.]

Colby: Are you trying to kill yourself?

Jack: Get yourselves dressed. I mean right now. Both of you, come on.

Erica: What is going on here?

Ava: How do I look?

Jack: Oh, you know what -- you've done enough.

Sean: We were just watching TV.

Jack: Sean, don't lie to me.

Ava: Oh, thank you. Oh, Erica, it's so good to see you again. Are we rolling?

Erica: No, we are not.

Jack: This is not --

Erica: Pam, I said cut!

Jack: An audition, Ava.

Sean: Ahem -- has anyone seen my belt anywhere?

Erica: Ok, that's it -- we're finished here, that's a wrap.

Pam: But this is too fantastic.

Erica: Stop -- no -- please, turn the camera off and go. Go!

Jack: What the hell were you thinking?

Ava: Sean was just helping --

Erica: I don't want to know the details.

Jack: What about Lily? What if she had come downstairs and seen this?

Sean: I didn't think Lily was --

Erica: Yeah, exactly -- you didn't think.

Jack: Where is Lily? Huh?

Lily: Right here. What's going on?

Annie: The hotel is amazing. It's right on the beach. Hey, is Emma up?

Di: Oh, no. She went to bed a little while ago. She had a long night of dress-up. How is the divorcy-moon going?

Annie: Hmm -- I was hoping I could say good night to Emma.

Di: Um -- sorry. How's Ryan?

Annie: Um, he's -- he's -- he's fine.

Di: What are you doing right now?

Annie: Unpacking.

Di: Ok, half that trip is a honeymoon. Now, you are in an unbelievable suite, I know, and -- and you're unpacking, and you're talking to me? Where's Ryan?

Annie: He's -- ahem -- out on the beach.

Di: What, by himself?

Annie: With her.

Greenlee: You didn't fight for me when I sent you the divorce papers. Fight for me now, Ryan.

Ryan: When you left me, Greenlee, I didn't think that I would ever get over you.

Greenlee: I ended it, I know. I -- I couldn't stay and watch Kendall, watch you both -- I left. But I was hoping that you would come after me and ask for another chance. I was hoping you would scream, "Greenlee, I can't live without you!"

Ryan: Greenlee, you sent me final divorce papers.

Greenlee: To give you that chance. I wanted to forgive you. Tell me I'm right. Tell me you still love me.

Ryan: When I told you I loved you, I was telling the truth, Greenlee. I -- I did love you -- then.

Greenlee: You can't just stop something like that.

Ryan: It's just it's different now, Greenlee. I have Annie, and I love her. And I have a family with her and a life with her. Look, when you told me that you didn't want me to fight for you, I did, and then when you wanted me to fight for you, I didn't. It -- we had our chance, Greenlee, and it slipped away. And now, I'm fighting for Annie.

Greenlee: This isn't about Annie. This is about the child. You would do anything for that little girl.

Lily: Why is this man here with a camera? Are we making a movie?

Erica: No, Lily, definitely not.

Jack: Sweetheart, it's nothing to worry about. It's just a little something that Erica's putting together for her new show.

Lily: You're mad -- your mouth is down.

Sean: My bad.

Ava: Hush up, Sean. Hey, Lily.

Erica: You know what? We -- we have enough. I'll see you tomorrow, Pam.

Pam: But I want some --

Erica: Pam, you do want to keep your job?

Jack: Listen, I need to -- I need to talk to Sean and Ava, but it's -- it's all fine.

Lily: You don't look fine. Erica, did you come to offer Ava a job?

Erica: No. Thank you, Pam. Good night.

Sean: Lily, don't worry about it, ok? I was just telling Uncle Jack I'm going to crash with my mom for a few days.

Lily: But you'll come back, won't you?

Sean: Ahem -- we'll see.

Jack: Sean? I'm not asking you to move out.

Sean: I know, I know. I just -- I need to do this, for now, at least. I don't want to freak out Lily.

Jack: Appreciate that. We'll talk later.

Sean: I'm sure we will.

Jack: Yes.

Erica: Sean, didn't I tell you to stop playing with fire?

Sean: I got burned.

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You knew that this was going on?

Ryan: Emma is not the reason I fell in love with Annie.

Greenlee: If you're going to tell me all the reasons Annie is amazing, don't. Just don't.

Ryan: It happened because it happened. Greenlee, I -- I was meant to find her.

Greenlee: We were meant to grow old together -- wrinkly and saggy and crazy, you and me.

Ryan: At one time, I believed that, too.

Greenlee: I spent a lot of time on the ocean when I was gone -- two different oceans, actually. And I'd pick up the sand and let it run through my fingers, and watch as the waves washed it away. Every time I'd think of you, coming home to you.

Ryan: But you didn't.

Greenlee: But I'm here. We're here. And you want a divorce?

Ryan: At one time, I offered you everything. I offered to go anywhere, to run away, to do whatever you wanted, Greenlee. And we did things your way -- you left, and I stayed, and now you're telling me that's not what you wanted. Well, I can't read your mind.

Greenlee: But you ran away from being a father! You drove off a cliff to avoid it.

Ryan: I didn't believe that I could be one.

Greenlee: And you can now, because of her? I --

Ryan: When I lost you, and I lost Erin, got my brother whole again, just -- there's a lot, Greenlee. A lot has happened since you left -- a lot. And I have to look at life differently now. And honestly, I love what I see. Emma and Spike are my chance. They're my chance to do it right this time, and Annie is a big part of that.

Greenlee: And, what, you have a prepackaged family, your problems are solved? I --

Ryan: I came back from biking off that cliff for you, not because I was sure I wanted children, Greenlee. I came back for you. However I could, I was sure that we could -- we could make it work. I gave you every single piece of me. I gave you all of it, and you turned it down.

Greenlee: Do you think I wanted to? Do you think I enjoyed that?

Ryan: You went way out of your way to -- to let me know that it was over, Greenlee. You begged me not to come after you, you begged me to let you go, and you know what? I accepted that. It took me a long time, but I did. And now I've started a new life, with someone else.

Annie: I am not starting my marriage not trusting my husband.

Di: Who said anything about not trusting Ryan? It's Greenlee you -- you should worry about.

Annie: I'm not worried. Hey, is it bad form to open a bottle of champagne by yourself?

Di: No. Grab that bottle of champagne and get your butt down to the beach. Remind Greenlee that Ryan has moved on.

Annie: And, what, look like the paranoid wife?

Di: No -- you look Greenlee in the eye and tell her you are not going anywhere, that she can't walk all over you.

Annie: Look, Ryan will handle this.

Di: Uh -- can you see the beach from your window?

Annie: If I wanted to.

Di: Why don't you go to that window, then, right now?

Annie: Well, I can't really see it and -- no, no, I'm not spying on my husband.

Di: Don't be so noble.

Annie: Ryan can handle Greenlee.

Di: Pick up the room phone right now and tell them to bring you up a pair of binoculars.

Annie: I trust Ryan.

Di: There's not a little part of you freaking out right now?

Annie: Uh-uh. Absolutely not.

Di: You're dying to know what's going on -- admit it.

Annie: Ok, maybe a little. I'm fine. Honestly, I'm -- I'm fine.

Adam: Call off the search party. I am alive and well.

Colby: I called your office. They said you were in your boardroom.

Adam: Yes, I had some business to take care of.

Colby: Were you and J.R. going at it again?

Adam: You're my daughter. You're not my mother or my wife.

Colby: Dad, unless you're going to toss back some shots with your underage daughter, don't you dare. Yeah, I didn't think so.

Adam: I will drink what I please.

Colby: The doctor said you should avoid alcohol while you're recovering.

Adam: Well, the doctors are worried about malpractice suits. I know what I can and cannot handle.

Colby: I'm calling your doctor.

Adam: Don't you have homework?

Colby: Do you want to end up back in the hospital?

Adam: Yeah, if it'll stop you harping at me.

Colby: You stop -- stop being such a jerk. Dad, in case you haven't noticed, I'm the only one left in this house who gives a damn about you. I love you, so, yeah, it does make it my business. You're the only dad I get. Do you know what it's like to see your father wheeled into the ER? To see him so weak, and he doesn't even care? You're killing yourself. And I don't want you to die.

Jack: Lily? Ava, can I have a moment alone with Erica, please?

Ava: Yeah. Lily, let's go upstairs. I know -- we'll talk.

Jack: So how long have you known about Ava and my nephew?

Erica: What do you mean?

Jack: What do I mean? I just found them half-naked on my living room sofa.

Erica: Yeah, on your living room sofa. I don't live here anymore.

Jack: Oh, I see -- so you chose to ignore this, huh? Let them have sex any place they want any time they want -- to hell with the consequences?

Erica: I told Sean that it wasn't smart. I offered my advice. I mean, whether he takes it or not, that's not my place.

Jack: Oh, and since when did you ever let your place get in the way?

Erica: Since we filed for divorce.

Jack: What about Lily?

Erica: I'm worried about both Sean and Lily. But I can't play den mother anymore -- I don't live here anymore. I can't just go reporting back to you.

Jack: Damn it, we're not talking about a harmless prank or somebody cutting a few classes here.

Erica: I am well aware of the risks that come with Ava.

Jack: But you chose to ignore them!

Erica: I chose to ignore them? You are the one who invited Ava to stay here. I warned Sean. You, on the other hand -- you clearly did nothing to prevent this.

Jack: I'll tell you what you did -- you come in here, and you take charge again, but then you don't bother to tell me anything about it.

Erica: Hey, is this about them or about us?

Pam: Still getting the audio?

Man: Every word.

Pam: That's right. Keep on talking into those mikes. We're looking at gold.

[Pam and her cameraman keep shooting through the window]

Colby: Dad, you're supposed to be resting. You just had a heart attack. I mean, you --

Adam: I know, I know -- you're right, about everything. You're right.

Colby: You're not leaving me, Dad. You're going to send me to college, watch me graduate, dance with me on my wedding day. And if I have to ride you until then, I will.

Adam: No. I'm not going anywhere. Maybe I have overdone it.

Colby: "Maybe"?

Adam: All right, I have.

Colby: I came home for you, Dad. I want to see you get healthy, ok? So come here.

[Adam chuckles]

Colby: You could growl at me all you want, but I am going to stay right here.

Adam: Ok. Would you go get my medications? I'll take them right here.

Colby: Then what?

Adam: Well, then, I -- I plan to go a little easier on myself.

Colby: Ok, repeat after me -- I, Adam Chandler, will do what I am told.

Adam: I, Adam Chandler, will do what I want.

Colby: No -- uh -- "what I am told."

Adam: Oh, yes. Um -- ok, I promise that I will listen to my beautiful, beautiful daughter.

[Adam chuckles]

Colby: I'll take that.

Ryan: You dropped those divorce papers on me like a rock -- and I deserved it. I -- I hurt you. But I honestly thought that I wasn't what you wanted anymore.

Greenlee: Wanting you was never the issue.

Ryan: I took your choices from you. You demanded them back, so I gave them to you -- the divorce, your freedom. You told me that that's what you chose.

Greenlee: But I didn't. I want my life back. You're a part of that.

Ryan: Do you remember standing in my living room, standing in my living room and telling me that I took all of the decisions out of your hands?

Greenlee: It was one of the hardest days of my life.

Ryan: I signed those papers, Greenlee. I finally listened to what you said was your choice. That is the only reason I didn't run after you.

[Annie sighs]

Annie: Did I tell you Greenlee saved my life?

Di: The same Greenlee that almost ruined your wedding?

Annie: I had an asthma attack on the plane, and we couldn't find my inhaler. She found it just in time.

Di: Are you sure she didn't hide it first?

Annie: Oh. I'm sure. Well -- ahem -- a toast to me, to wives.

Di: You ok?

Annie: Perfect.

Ryan: I was so incredibly selfish when I ran from you. And then you left. I deserved it.

Greenlee: And now you're punishing me for leaving you?

Ryan: Greenlee, hurting you is the last thing that I want to do, believe me. Giving you your freedom was the only way that I could show you that I still loved you.

Greenlee: No, damn it! This isn't right, this isn't fair!

Ryan: This is the way that it has to be, Greenlee.

Greenlee: It's not supposed to be like this. You were supposed to get my ring and leave her. If Annie hadn't come along, you'd be with me.

Jack: Erica, this is not about us. This is about Lily coming down and catching those two right in the middle of what they were -- look -- Sean was reckless.

Erica: Yes, Sean was reckless, but he wasn't the only one who was on that sofa.

Jack: No, no, absolutely, that's true, but Ava, Ava over there -- she's way too mature for him, way too experienced for him.

Erica: Well, Sean is not exactly innocent. And, I mean, what did you expect? Jack, your nephew is a handsome young man, Ava's a beautiful young woman who has clearly been around the block a few times.

Jack: Clearly, and that's another good point -- Sean has no idea where Ava's been.

Erica: Well, you should've seen this coming. You should have nipped this in the bud.

Jack: Oh. "Nipped it --" what should I have done, huh? Locked them in their respective rooms?

Erica: No, but you should not have invited Ava to stay here.

Jack: Oh. So -- so this is all my fault? You're right. You're right.

Erica: Would you repeat that, please?

Jack: You are right. I saw all the signs, I saw the lingering looks, the excuses to hang out together. I should've seen it coming.

Erica: Well, don't beat yourself up about it.

Jack: Huh.

Erica: No, just -- I mean, sit them both down and -- and have a talk with them.

Jack: It's been so crazy around here. It's been nuts. I mean, the -- the trial, Greenlee coming back, Ava -- Ava moving in here, and Lily -- she's so attached to her.

Erica: I know. Raising kids is hard, even with two parents.

Jack: Yeah. Well, let me tell you something. It's really difficult flying solo. It's been very difficult around here without you.

Colby: Here. I'll go get a pill sorter, but --

Adam: No, I know how to take my own pills.

Colby: Oh.

Adam: Ah -- but if it'll make you feel better --

Colby: Huh -- yeah, it will.

Adam: Hmm. J.R. is not going to ruin this family.

Colby: Don't worry about that right now.

Adam: I worry about you, sweetheart. I'm not going to let him throw away your inheritance.

Colby: I don't care about my inheritance, Dad.

Adam: You will care when it comes time for that fancy wedding.

Colby: Brothers and sisters fight. Sometimes they don't get along.

Adam: Colby?

Colby: J.R. and I will be fine.

Adam: You will be protected.

Colby: I know -- hmm. I'm off to bed.

Adam: Ok. Good night, sweetheart.

Colby: You need to get some rest soon.

Adam: Yeah, in a minute.

Colby: Good night.

Adam: Good night.

Colby: I love you.

Adam: I love you, too.

[Knock on door]

Adam: Oh.

Sean: Uh -- hi, Mr. Chandler. Is -- is Colby here?

Adam: Get out.

Sean: Look -- will you at least tell her I'm here?

Adam: No. No, I won't. She doesn't care, and I don't care. So stay away from my daughter.

Di: Call me if you need me.

Annie: I will. Good night.

Di: Night.

Jonathan: Di? You knew, and you were there!

Di: What are you talking about?

Jonathan: What am -- that wasn't Lily at the wedding. That was Ava, and you knew the entire time, and you didn't say a word to me.

Annie's voice: Find her, Ryan. Talk to her. And when you're done, come back to me.

Ryan: Look, I don't want to hurt you. But this is the way things are and this is the way that they're ing to be. And -- and there is nothing that you can say or do to change that, ok? I am sorry.

Ryan: Good night, Greenlee.

Greenlee: Happy anniversary, Ryan.

Annie: Well?

Ryan: It's done. You are stuck with me now.

[Annie laughs and kisses Ryan while Greenlee sits on the beach alone reminiscing about kissing Ryan]

Di: Yes, I knew. No, I wasn't going to go tell everybody, you know, because I know exactly how Ava feels. To have -- to have everyone pass judgment on you when you walk in a room. "Oh -- oh, there's the slut. She works at a strip club to pay the bills. Man, she must be a whore." And her -- she -- she hustles men in an alleyway, to eat. Whew, she must be pure evil.

[Jonathan chuckles]

Jonathan: Excuse me. I'm sorry that I think that you're far better than Ava.

Di: I'm not. Ava didn't do this to play you. Jonathan, she did it to know, for just a minute, what it feels like to -- be loved.

Jonathan: I'm not buying it, Di, because she's a con. And now, she's fooling you, too.

Di: No, you know what? She's not fooling me, because I've played her game. You want to know what it felt like when I was playing that game, when I was pretending to be Dixie? I felt horrible, and -- and guilty. But it also -- it showed me that I was capable of being this other person. You know, if you raised your expectations of Ava, she might meet them.

Jonathan: Oh -- how can I do that, hmm? She just -- threw herself at me.

Di: What?

Jonathan: Ava just kissed me.

Di: Ok, see, that's probably the only way that she knows how to get your attention.

Jonathan: Oh, would -- Lily knows how to get attention without people touching her, ok?

Di: Ok! You know what? This is not about you and Lily. For God's sake, every woman is not going to be some ideal version of your sweet Lily. Most of us have flaws, Jonathan. Most of us are human. I mean, I would expect you to understand that, more than probably anybody.

Jack: I just feel like our family -- hmm, my family -- slipping away from me.

Erica: No, no, no. They're -- they're just growing up.

Jack: Maybe I just expect too much. Hmm.

Erica: Well, I'm sure you're not the first -- first person with teenagers to feel that way.

Jack: Ava, Sean -- boy, that really puts a hell of a wrinkle in things around here, doesn't it, and I have no idea what to do about it.

Erica: Deal with it -- head-on.

Jack: The last thing I want is to force Sean out of the house.

Erica: To force Sean to live with Barbara? No, I don't think so.

Jack: Yeah, he wouldn't last more than a few nights with her.

Erica: Like most of the men she takes.

Jack: But with these two making like rabbits here all the time, I -- and Lily here? I can't have that.

Erica: Well, you know what? Fortunately, Lily doesn't seem to have noticed.

Jack: Not yet. Do you know how it would break her heart if I told Ava she had to move out?

Erica: Well, Jack, it's still your house. And you make the rules. If Sean and Ava are old enough to engage in "adult behavior," they should behave like adults.

Jack: You're absolutely right.

Erica: I'm so sorry I came down so hard on you. It's been stressful.

Jack: Yeah. I'll tell you something else you're right about. This is not just about the kids.

Erica: It's really late. I have to go.

Jack: Yeah.

Erica: Yeah. Good night.

Jack: Mm-hmm. Good night.

[Phone beeps]

Colby: "Look out your window"?

Colby: What the hell are you doing? You want to kill yourself?

Sean: Surprise.

Colby: Ah -- get in here. Come in. I don't know what I'd tell my dad if you break your neck.

Sean: Oh, look -- look, I tried the front door. He didn't want me to see you.

Colby: You see this, Sean? It's a phone. It's used for calling.

Sean: Well, I wanted to see you. And I need a place to crash.

Colby: What happened? You get kicked out of your uncle's place?

Sean: Sort of a mutual understanding.

Colby: So you come here?

Sean: Well, it's just -- it's getting way too crazy over there.

Colby: Huh -- well, wait -- I wouldn't call this a house of sane people.

Sean: Well, I sure as hell don't want to stay with my mom. Look, can I just crash here tonight till I figure out what's next?

Colby: Yeah, but you're going to have to hide here in my room.

Sean: Is that a problem?

Colby: No problem.

Ryan: Morning, Greenlee.

Greenlee: Morning.

Ryan: Greenlee, this is Mr. Harry Oakes.

Harry: You're Mrs. Lavery.

Greenlee: For about five more minutes.

Annie: Ahem -- I'm going to go for a walk. Let you take care of this.

Greenlee: Whew. Well, let's get this over with.

Lily: Hey, Ava want to do something with me after work today?

Ava: Um -- sure. You want to go to the mall and get those shoes?

Lily: The ones from the magazine?

Ava: Yeah. What are you, a size 9?

Lily: You, too? Then we can share. Text me later.

Ava: Sure. Maybe we can get some dinner or something, too.

Lily: I have 17 minutes to get to work. Bye, Dad.

Jack: Bye, sweetheart.

Ava: Cereal? Ok, I get it. Ahem -- fire when ready.

Jack: Is that what you want?

Ava: Since when does that matter?

Jack: I'll tell you what -- no tirades, just some ground rules. You stay away from my nephew.

Ava: Well, now, that's up to Sean, now, isn't it?

Jack: Not in my home it's not. Well, this is Lily's home, too, right?

Jack: I saw a condom. Have you two been using protection?

Ava: Oh, God. Please don't get all Sex Ed class on me.

Jack: No, I'm going to get all Sex Ed class on you. Have you been safe?

Ava: Duh. Ok? Sean is smart, and so am I. Condom every single time. You want to know what kind?

Jack: No, you can spare me that. There is something I do want, though. I want you to take an HIV test.

Ava: Great. Well, I don't think Lily would like this -- all this accusing? You wanting me to get some blood test, because you think I'm a dirty little nympho?

Jack: Well, I think Lily would see the logic in it, Ava.

Ava: Really? Well, let's just try that out on her -- see whose side she takes.

Jack: You may think you know Lily, but you've only just met her.

Ava: Well, she's my sister. We got a, you know, thing.

Jack: Yeah. Well, sister, you've already torn your ticket with me. So why not? Let's alienate Lily, as well, huh? Sure -- let's tell her all about your past. Let's tell her that you don't think enough of Sean, or her, or her family to take a simple blood test to make sure you're not playing with her cousin's life.

Ava: Fine, I'll tell her the truth. She knows about sex, right? She's got to know about safe sex.

Jack: Yes, you bet she does. I'm sure she can even tell you the percentage of how many times condoms are reliable in stopping the transmission of sexual disease. As a matter of fact, I can tell you that. It ain't 100%.

Ava: Wow. What would Sean do without his big, bad uncle?

Jack: My family, Ava, is the most important thing in my life.

Ava: Jack, if you're so hot on family, how come you let Erica leave you?

Erica: I asked you to turn that camera off.

Pam: This is what you pay me the big bucks for. It's good, isn't it?

Erica's voice: That is so right.

Erica: Did you get the whole conversation?

Pam: No one wants to watch nice, pleasant TV. Either pump up the drama, or lose the audience.

Erica: Don't do it again.

Pam: Can't guarantee that. You wanted all-access. If you don't like something, hit delete. You have editorial control.

Erica: And I plan to use it.

Pam: I was just doing my job. You wanted juicy, you wanted real -- here it is. Speaking of which, we need to come up with something big and splashy for your anniversary. Nothing like a romantic wedding anniversary to call off a divorce. You're not listening. Hmm, I'm not sure what he's holding there. I couldn't get a shot of the picture. You know what it is? Maybe we could shoot an insert shot if we need to.

Erica: It's our wedding photo.

Colby: Hmm. Hmm.

Colby: Good morning, sleepyhead. How was the floor?

Sean: Hmm. Who needs a mattress?

Colby: Hmm. In the middle of the night, you started talking in your sleep.

Sean: I didn't say anything incriminating, did I?

Colby: If I told you, it would ruin all the fun.

Sean: Well, for you, maybe.

Colby: Hmm. You know, you're quite the singer. I couldn't really make it out, but it was something between flaming yahoos and "Happy Birthday."

[Sean chuckles]

Sean: You should have recorded it.

Colby: Well, next time I'll keep my mp3 handy. Hmm, so, what do you want to do today?

Sean: No clue. I'm a man of leisure.

[Knock on door]

Adam: Colby, it's your breakfast.

Ryan: It's your turn.

Harry: Well, sign at the yellow tabs.

Greenlee: There. It's done.

>> On the next "all my children" --

Ryan (to Annie): I don't want to go back to Pine Valley like this.

Annie (to Ryan): What are you trying to tell me?

Greenlee (to Kendall, Di, & Babe): As of now, I'm chief in charge, so get with it or get on out.
