Pam: If you work a jury like you worked an audience, you can defend me any time.
Jack: So you like the way the show went?
Pam: You mean the direction you took it? I plead the fifth.
Jack: Look, Pam, it's Erica's show. She was in charge.
Pam: That's why she looks so happy? Whatever. You two make divorce so sexy, it'd almost be worth getting married to split up.
Erica: Having fun?
Jack: Just praising you to your producer.
Erica: Oh, really -- after you did your damnedest to ruin me. Jack, you sabotaged my entire concept for the new divorce.
Jack: I didn't sabotage anything. What I did was tell the truth -- we're still in love with each other.
Ava: Escaped from work early? Let's go mall crawling.
Lily: I'm supposed to be changing clothes.
Ava: Into what, this? Why? You going on a date with some old man?
Lily: I'm supposed to go to Ryan and Annie's wedding, but I don't want to.
Ava: How come?
Lily: Lots of reasons. People take vows at their wedding, then they break them.
[Music plays as the wedding party waits for the bride]
Jonathan: How you doing?
Ryan: I'm good, I'm good. I'm -- you know, I'm a little nervous, but I'm good.
Jonathan: Really? I'm going to keep an eye on Kendall today.
Ryan: Jon, don't worry about it. She's happily married -- happily married like I'm going to be in a few minutes.
[Annie and Emma slowly approach across the lawn]
Emma: I love you, Mommy.
Annie: I love you, too, sweetheart.
[Ryan chuckles as Emma walks ahead of her mother spreading flower petals from her little basket]
Minister: Welcome, everyone --
Zach: I think this one needs a break.
Zach: Oh, honey, don't worry, come on.
Minister: Beginning of a modern fairy tale for Ryan and Annie, as they set off on their wonderful new journey --
Kendall: Is Greenlee gone?
Del: Uh-uh. She didn't check out of the yacht club, and I saw her taking off in her car, destination unknown.
Kendall: Like hell. She's here right now, waiting to ruin this wedding.
[Greenlee drives up in a red convertible and runs toward the wedding party but her heels slow her down]
Greenlee: Oh, my God, they've started. Oh, God. Oh, I hope I'm not too late!
[Ryan and Greenlee chuckle]
Ryan: You're so sweet.
Amanda: Good job, Emma. You did so good.
Minister: We're here to celebrate one of life's greatest and most --
Kendall: I need to get to -- I got to go find Greenlee before all hell breaks loose. I'll be right back.
Minister: To this most holy day Ryan and Annie bring full spirits, full hearts --
Zach: Rachael's going to watch him for a while.
Kendall: Ok, um, I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back. I'll be back -- stay.
Minister: So let's all rejoice with them, and give thanks to the Lord for this, his gift and blessing.
Erica: The truth is that our marriage is -- is over.
Jack: Erica, it was an ad-lib, ok?
Erica: No, it was a passive-aggressive attack.
Jack: Expressing my opinion?
Erica: You told America that it was my opinion that we're still in love.
Jack: Tell me something, the abridgment of free speech -- this is a "New Beginnings" policy, or this is your own personal preference?
Erica: We have prompters.
Jack: I don't need prompters.
Erica: Yeah, you do. You only think you don't, because you couldn't wait to make a fool out of me.
Jack: Erica, I didn't come here with any agenda, and by the way, just for the record, there's nothing foolish about love.
Erica: You know, I should've known -- well, I did know. I knew you were up to something, and that's why we outlined the show -- to keep you on track.
Jack: Well, maybe you should've warned me.
Erica: I did warn you -- I showed you the prompters, I said, "Read them."
Jack: I'm not talking about the prompters, Erica, I'm talking about the pictures. I mean, we sit here, we yammer about the glories of the new divorce, meanwhile, our life, all our highs and lows are paraded on these big screens.
Erica: Well, I was as shocked about that as you were.
Jack: I'm not talking about shocked, I'm not talking about shocked, I'm -- it got to me, ok? I couldn't sit here listening to you go on about how we are now and look at all those memories and feel all those things about the way we were then.
Erica: I know, it was hard.
Erica: But I managed. I have to manage, because if I don't treat the subject objectively and as a professional, then I will lose my audience, and they come to me for inspiration and for enlightenment.
Jack: For fiction?
Erica: What fiction? We are having a wonderful divorce.
Erica: And I was trying to give them hope, to let them know that divorcing couples don't have to wage war.
Jack: I never asked for war. As a matter of fact, I don't remember asking for a damn divorce.
Lily: I thought Jonathan and I were alike in all the ways that you would need to make a marriage survive. But we weren't -- he lied about it. He didn't tell the truth. Truth is an absolute, like numbers.
Ava: So because your marriage didn't work out, you hate all weddings now?
Lily: No. But it will remind me of mine and make me sad, and Jonathan will be there, which will make me feel worse.
Ava: Ugh. I can't imagine you ever being with that -- that -- that prince.
Lily: But I thought you said that he was horrible and mean to you at the mall.
Ava: "The prince" was sarcastic -- the opposite of what I meant?
Lily: Why would you say it like that -- so confusing?
Ava: I didn't really want to say what I really felt. Because you're so -- you're so nice, and I could really stand to clean up my mouth around you. I mean, I shouldn't curse so much.
Lily: That's very sisterly, thank you.
Ava: Thank you so much for letting me use your charge card. It's like the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for me. Too bad your stupid ex ruined everything -- and he wouldn't even let me finish shopping. I mean, I was going to buy you this awesome -- book, a book of numbers. And for me, I was going to get this awesome, beautiful, like, party-licious, like, Paris or Lindsay kind of like dress.
Ava: What am I supposed to do with this?
Lily: Wear it.
Ava: Where? When?
Lily: To a wedding. You might go one day, and I don't need it. I'm not going to Ryan and Annie's.
Ava: They're rich, right? There's going to be, like, gourmet food and, like, vintage wine and stuff there? Rich people spend, like, tens of thousands of dollars on their weddings -- it's crazy.
Lily: Well, this color would look very good on you.
Ava: Well, you did pick it out for yourself, so -- hmm, not bad. Hey, Lily, you like riddles, right?
Lily: Yes, I'm very good at riddles.
Ava: So what about this one -- how does Lily go to the wedding and never see Jonathan, even if he's standing right next to her?
Minister: Well, I can't imagine a more perfect setting than this garden. The beauty and majesty of spring -- it's unfolding all around us. Flowers and the buds long hidden in the snows of winter, resting and rejuvenating, waiting for this, the proper season to burst forth and share their beauty and their glory with us all. Well, Ryan and Annie -- they're not so different. Their love, like this garden, needs tending and devotion so that, like this garden, it, too, can blossom and flourish. And Ryan and Annie, they stand here before us, ready to embrace that commitment. And so, before God, they come to be joined together as husband and wife.
Kendall: Are you kidding me?
[Spotting Greenlee, Kendall runs after her and follows her into the playhouse.]
Kendall: No, no, you are not going anywhere.
Greenlee: Oh, yes, I am, and you can't stop me.
Kendall: Oh, really? I've done it before.
Greenlee: Not this time, sweetie.
Kendall: No, Greenlee, listen --
Greenlee: Ow! Kendall --
Kendall: You stay down there. You stay down there.
Greenlee: Stop it!
Kendall: You -- you said -- you said that I -- I could relax, and that you would leave town, and there was no way you were planning on ruining this wedding.
Greenlee: I wasn't planning on it then.
Kendall: You see? You see? You see? I should've known. I should have known that you were lying when you sucked it up and said that Ryan deserves to be happy.
Greenlee: He does -- with me! What is wrong with you? We started a cosmetic giant together, you believed in me. You knew I loved him so much I was willing to risk everything. You thought we should be together -- you were willing to carry a child for us. What the hell happened?
Kendall: We begged you to stay, but you walked out.
Greenlee: You didn't leave me with any choices.
Kendall: You broke Ryan's heart. But he survived, and he was doing fine -- he was doing great until Erin died. All those deaths, all those tragedies, and where was my old best friend? Hiding.
Greenlee: I explained to you --
Kendall: I don't give a damn! You weren't here. You weren't here. You didn't see what Erin's death did to Ryan. Annie saw, and she helped him.
Greenlee: Yeah, I bet.
Kendall: You know, I actually was not a very big fan of Annie's -- at first. I was afraid that she would get in the way of Ryan's relationship with Spike.
Greenlee: Finally -- finally, a glimmer of sanity. This is the woman you want as Spike's stepmom?
Kendall: Yes. Annie is great with Spike, and she is great with Ryan. You know, when Ryan left Pine Valley, and he faked his death, I thought that was probably the lowest point in his life. And then he lost you. And then he lost Erin. And I thought that no one could bring him back, no one, but Annie did. Annie brought Ryan back. Annie is Ryan's lifeline.
Minister: Ryan and Annie have written their own special vows to one another. Annie?
Annie: I had a very rich fantasy life before we met. I wrote imaginary adventures for Queen Annabelle and Princess Emmaline. You asked me about them, and I told you they were for Emma. But they were for me, too. Because I had to keep hoping and believing that things would get better and that life could be innocent again and new and fresh. That there was a place where the good beat the bad every single time, and there was a -- a place where Queen Annabelle and Princess Emmaline could be happy and safe. I had that dream for a really long time, and I always hoped it would come true. When I first met you -- ok, yeah, I almost hit you with a fireplace brush --
[Annie and Ryan laugh]
Annie: But that was because I didn't know then that you would be the one to finally show me my dreams and make them come true and make them real. That is why I fought what I felt for you. My mind kept telling me it wasn't possible, it was -- it was too good to be true. But you wouldn't let me ignore all of the wondrous possibilities life has for all of us. Then suddenly it wasn't too good to be true anymore, and suddenly it wasn't just a dream. Emma was ours in every way possible, as if we were meant to be. You are Emma's father, and you are my best friend. You are our prince and our rock and our inspiration. And you have given us the greatest life adventure -- the promise of happily-ever-after.
Greenlee: Annie is a rebound. You don't marry a rebound.
Kendall: Ryan's found his soul mate.
Greenlee: This girl is a stand-in. You said yourself she looks just like me. Well, then why should Ryan settle for a cheap imitation? The marriage won't last.
Kendall: Greenlee, you can think that it's an infatuation if you want to. But what Ryan and Annie have together runs very deep. You don't have a clue what she's given him.
Annie: I love you, Ryan, and I will go on loving you every moment for the rest of my life. I will give you everything I can. I will be everything you need. I will be faithful to you and supportive and honest. You will never be alone. Emma and I are your family, along with Jonathan and Spike, and that is something that will never, ever change. I will always love you.
Jack: Yeah, all right, I'll -- I'll get there as soon as I can, ok? All right. I assume we're finished. Ok.
Erica: No, Jack, wait. If I seem unfeeling, believe me, it's only because I am just really trying to conduct this interview in a professional manner.
Jack: I don't have that problem.
Erica: All those photos up there -- I -- I don't know. I -- I shouldn't be so affected. I mean, I -- I've looked through the albums since -- since I moved out -- I -- I have an album in my office.
Jack: Well, that made it pretty handy for your light-fingered producer, didn't it?
Erica: Oh. I -- I guess I should be immune by now. Maybe it was sitting up there with you while all the pictures were being projected up there. I don't know -- I was just sitting there remembering when our love was so new and so strong and -- and we were so close.
Jack: Do you think that's completely gone?
Erica: It's funny -- I know that they were stills, but they weren't freeze-frames. I mean, I kept seeing movement. I saw all the moments leading up to those pictures and all the moments after.
Jack: Me, too. Me, too. Did the bad outweigh the good?
Erica: I just -- uh -- I just kept thinking of things that you had said to me when we first met -- little things, you know, inconsequential things. I was thinking about this -- this new snowfall, and nothing had disturbed it, nothing. There wasn't one footprint in that snow. It was like we were the only two people on earth. And I remember that we took a walk, and we weren't walking as much as we were gliding. And it was 10 degrees -- I wasn't even cold.
Erica: And I knew that there was a layer of ice underneath that snow, but it just never even came into my mind that I might fall.
Jack: I would've caught you.
Erica: And we were walking so completely in sync, side by side. You remember.
Jack: I do. You bet I do. I didn't have to slow down, you didn't have to speed up. We were -- perfectly in rhythm.
Lily: We don't have the exact same DNA, but if I can't detect any differences --
Ava: Then no one can. So Lily can go to the wedding without seeing Jonathan, and no one will give you a hard time for ditching. Lily, this -- this dress and this hat -- it's not going to work. You have to give me Lily 101. I have to know how -- how you walk and -- and talk and party. So go ahead, I'm -- I'm ready.
Ryan: Love never came easy to me. I mean, some guys are naturals, they have lots of practice. My family -- it wasn't the best training ground. In -- in my house growing up, love was just a -- just a word. It was a very, very hollow word. But you leave home, and you learn, and you grow up and -- thing is, in -- in my relationships, I always found myself wondering when things were going to go wrong, or waiting for things just to fall apart. And then I met you. Bringing you into my life was a gift from my sister, Erin. You and Emma, you deserved everything good, but instead you were -- you were going through things that -- that could've shut your heart down forever. Love had brought you so much pain. So how come every time I looked into your eyes, all I saw was hope? You were still so alive. You could still trust, you could still believe that all your dreams were going to come true. And I -- I see that hope and that beauty in your eyes when I look at our daughter, when I kiss you, when I kiss you good night. It's -- it's as if there is a -- a pure fire that burns inside of you and illuminates everything that you do -- the way that you mother Emma, the way that you work, everything -- and I guess I caught a little bit of that. Because when I look at you, I hope, I trust, I believe, and for the first time in my life, I love completely.
Greenlee: Ryan and I share the same heart. I could give him more than Annie would ever dream of.
Kendall: Annie's given Ryan a child, a daughter.
Greenlee: So she has a child with husband number one -- so what?
Kendall: "With" husband number one, but "by" a sperm donor. Yes -- Ryan.
Ryan: I swear that I will never let our love or trust or faith dim. I'll keep our hope and our devotion burning as bright as it is at this very moment for the rest of our lives.
Lily: I have sunglasses. You have to wear them to avoid red.
Ava: But if I'm not near any red?
Lily: Then you can take them off, but I also have earmuffs.
Ava: With a summery dress? Cute.
Lily: Or earplugs. Any loud noise or a lot of people can be magnified and intensified and cause sensory overload. Most people call it a meltdown, which is really inaccurate.
Ava: Why red? Why not yellow or puke green or something?
Lily: I don't know. I wish I did.
Ava: This doesn't even smell like perfume.
Lily: It's green tea, and it's all I wear. Your perfume will give you away.
Ava: Ha -- I never give it away!
Lily: You're too animated. You -- you need to me more cerebral. Your voice and -- and your face need to stay more the same.
Ava: So talk more -- I need to hear you.
Lily: But I've been talking for weeks. Haven't you been listening?
Ava: [As Lily] I've been talking for weeks. Weren't you listening?
Lily: That's an improvement.
Ava: That's an improvement.
Lily: Now, numbers -- if you overload, just simply count backwards from 100. And another thing -- don't make comparisons, and don't say that something is like something it isn't.
Ava: [Normal voice] I'll keep it simple.
Lily: I seem to lack the kind of imagination that most people possess.
Ava: You think? But that's not bad, Lily -- somebody has to be practical.
Lily: Yes. Be practical. And send me a text message if you need any additional coaching or information.
Ava: I'll pass on the earmuffs, but where are my earplugs? And my glasses -- I can't go without them. Thank you. I am ready to attend the reception and observe all the guests and congratulate the bride and groom, not let on that I'm having any fun.
Minister: Emma, sweetheart, you have something very important that you want to say to your mommy and daddy, isn't that right? Ok.
Emma: I love you, Mommy and Daddy. Now we can live happily ever after. Amen.
Annie: Oh --
Emma: Can I have an allowance?
Ryan: We'll negotiate. How about that?
Greenlee: Ryan has a child by her? Not even you could dream that up.
Kendall: DNA test proved it.
Greenlee: But he never wanted a child. And now he has two. He's the perfect father. But Ryan said he would never love anyone the way he loved me.
Kendall: But that was before. He thought that you were gone forever.
Greenlee: So he settled.
Kendall: I know that it sucks to hear. But Ryan and Annie are good for each other. They -- they belong together, they deserve to be happy. I would tell you to -- to let him go, but I'm sorry, Greenlee. Ryan's already gone.
Greenlee: Get away from that door, Kendall. Move -- now.
Jack: It wasn't supposed to go wrong for us, not again.
Erica: But it did.
Jack: Why did you have to move out?
Erica: To get back to myself.
Jack: I was all for your career.
Erica: I know, you were, and -- but it wasn't all about my career, Jack. It was -- it was about who I was apart from you.
Jack: Erica, I never, ever held you back, ever.
Erica: No. It was just -- I just -- I just needed some -- some time, just -- just to figure things out.
Jack: Time with Jeff Martin?
Erica: I did not leave you for anyone else. Jeff did not wreck our marriage.
Jack: You know, I was fine with you taking time to find yourself, but once I found out that you were sharing his bed, it was just --
Erica: Oh. And isn't it lucky that Barbara decided to swoop in just when you needed comfort? You cheated, too.
Jack: Yeah, but you -- you know what, Erica? You started it.
Erica: Oh, I see -- I was the first to hit the sheets? Ok, I've had enough now. I've had enough of this ugliness and enough of you.
Pam: What'll it be? Barbara Walters? She'll come on "New Beginnings" to interview you two. An offer for a documentary. Oh -- and did I mention our viewers are ecstatic? And Regis and Kelly -- they want to launch a new book.
Erica: Well, I -- I don't -- we don't have a book.
Pam: You can -- Hyperion wants to publish "Love You/Divorce Me: The new millennium guide to divorce." TV tabloid, tabloid, tabloids -- I have 63 requests for clips. Do you know how big this is -- you are?
Man: Sorry to interrupt, Erica, but I've got two people here eager for dish.
Erica: Oh, yes, come in.
Man: Well, you know Tara Kraft from "Star" magazine?
Erica: Of course, I do. Hi.
Jack: Hi, Tara.
Man: Emily Francis, "C.W. Morning News."
Emily: Good morning.
Erica: Yes, of course, hi.
Emily: Incredible show, Erica.
Erica: Thank you.
Emily: I have to ask, is Jack going to be a regular now?
Tara: This was a huge, huge-selling issue, but this is even bigger.
Minister: If anybody here knows any reason why these two shouldn't be joined together, speak up. It's now or never.
[Kendall pants as she comes running back]
Kendall: Oh -- hi. Hi. I'm sorry. I -- I'm pregnant, and so I have to go to the bathroom a lot, so that's where I was, but I'm back, so here I am. All right. I'm sorry it took so long, honey.
Zach: Where is she?
Kendall: Who? What --
Zach: Greenlee -- is she hogtied in the back of your car?
[Pounding on door]
Greenlee: Damn you, Kendall, open the door! Unlock this door! Let me out of here!
Ryan: There we go. Oh, perfect, perfect.
Kendall: Good boy.
Ryan: Absolutely perfect. Way to go, Spike man. Give me a kiss, give me a kiss -- I got you. Thank you very much.
Kendall: Uh-huh. Good boy.
Ryan: Way to go.
Minister: Ryan, take the ring, place it on Annie's finger, and repeat after me. I give you this ring as a token and pledge of my constant faith and abiding love.
Ryan: I give you this ring as a token and pledge of my constant faith and my abiding love.
Minister: Annie, take this ring, place it on Ryan's finger, and repeat after me. I give you this ring as a token and pledge of my constant faith and abiding love.
Annie: I give you this ring as a token and pledge of my constant faith and abiding love.
Pam: If you want to give the people a more serious, public service approach, Dr. Phyllis thinks she can heal this marriage.
Erica: We don't have a marriage, we have a divorce.
Pam: I love this. It's already online. Sherry Eaton --
Erica: Oh, that filth blogger.
Pam: That powerful, popular blog goddess has christened you "America's new luvorce couple." Love plus divorce -- "luvorce."
Erica: America liked this?
Pam: Continue your luvorce every show for months, and our competition will suck our ratings' dust.
Jack: I'm game.
Erica: You would sign on for additional appearances? Why, Jack? What's in it for you?
Jack: Well, you know, like you, I want America to enjoy the -- the satisfaction of an amicable split.
Erica: Who do you think you're kidding?
Jack: No one.
Erica: You're up to something -- what?
Jack: If you want to find that out, you're going to have to put us on the air, and then stay tuned.
Minister: Ryan and Annie, insomuch as the two of you have agreed to live with each other in matrimony, have promised your love for each other by these vows, the giving of these rings, and the joining of your hands, I now declare you to be husband and wife -- and daughter and son --
Minister: And you, sir, may kiss the bride.
Ryan: Excuse me.
["Wedding March" plays]
Emma: Yay, Mommy!
Jonathan: Yay, Mommy! Whoo!
Ryan: Thanks, guys. You're so good.
Zach: The playhouse -- perfect for fun and games.
Kendall: Oh, my God. Oh, no! No!
Kendall: How the hell did she get out?
Zach: I don't know -- maybe the three little bears came home.
Kendall: It's not funny, honey, it's not funny. She's crazy. She could do anything.
Ryan: Hold on, hold on, I want to make a toast. I want to make a toast! A toast, a toast -- to my magical wife, and chapter after chapter after chapter after chapter after chapter of our life together. Cheers!
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Tad (to Joe): I don't want that criminal on the loose when my daughter gets out of here.
Babe: You lost everything, Adam. You know what that makes you -- a loser.
Zach (to Kendall): Greenlee got the message and she left.
Kendall: You are so very wrong.
Ryan: We just got married.
Officer: We have a warrant for your arrest.
