[Thunder and lightning]
Bianca: You're soaked.
Zoe: So are you.
Bianca: There are bathrobes.
[Zoe stops Bianca from removing her clothes]
Lily: I know that Philadelphia is a very highly populated area, but -- but you're really good at finding people, right? Did you find her? Did you find my look-alike? Did you find out if we're related? Did you tell her about me? Does she want to meet me?
Di: Hey. Uh, Lily, come out of the rain.
Lily: Thank you. It's -- it's not raining anymore, but the barometric pressure is really low, and it's cold and damp.
Di: Well, it's -- it's nice and warm in here, you know?
Aidan: Hey, hey, Di, please -- um --
Lily: Ok, Aidan, I want to hear about my look-alike now.
Aidan: There's -- um -- there's not really much to tell.
Di: Oh, Aidan, don't be so modest. I -- do you want to tell Lily the good news or should I?
Colby: Our baby's here. Yeah, she's so cute, Sean, and you'll never believe who delivered her -- me.
J.R.: You ok? I heard you had a concussion.
Jamie: Well, I'm not in the morgue, no thanks to your dad. I bet he wanted Krystal and the little baby there, too. Why don't you help me out of these? You want to start being my brother again, try to make up for lying to my dad? Find a knife, cut me loose.
J.R.: So you can go after my father?
Jamie: This is your choice, J.R. Whose side are you on?
Krystal: Oh, look at that sweet angel face.
Babe: May I look.
Krystal: Yeah. And to think that I almost lost her.
Babe: But you didn't. She's right here.
Krystal: Let me tell you. It took a real scare with this precious bundle to realize how much Adam does hate me. He doesn't care if I live or if I die. But how do you hate a baby? I mean, what kind of man would turn his back on a baby coming into the world?
Adam: What do you want?
Tad: I'm trying to come up with a reason not to take you out.
Adam: Oh, Tad, please. I'd love for you to try.
Tad: All these years I've known you, I thought I'd seen you at your worst, but, my God, was I wrong. How the hell do you step over a woman while she's giving birth?
Adam: I knew Krystal would come running to you. I handed her a phone, told her to call you. She had plenty of time to get help.
Tad: Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, she -- uh -- she got help, all right. You see, Colby found her. Colby found Krystal lying on the floor in such pain, she couldn't even move. So your daughter called 911. It's too bad the paramedics didn't get here in time.
Adam: In time for what?
Tad: Was that your plan all along, hmm? You were just going to let Krystal and my daughter die on that floor?
Adam: What happened, Tad?
Tad: A six-pound baby girl, with all 10 fingers and all 10 toes. Thank God for Colby -- a 16-year-old girl scared to death still had the guts to step up and be part of a miracle. You be proud of that girl --
Tad: Because she's got a heart and soul -- doubtless she got them from her mother.
Adam: And Krystal managed to survive, huh?
Tad: She did.
Adam: Well -- well, well, well, congratulations, Daddy. You came to shame me, is that it, as I walked away from the mother of your child in her hour of need.
Tad: Mother of my child, you moron. You -- you walked away from a human being. She could've died, along with an innocent baby.
Adam: Oh, come on, get real. No one was in any real danger there. That wench could squat by the side of the road, push out a baby, and thumb a ride -- never smear her lipstick.
Tad: Let me tell you something. That "wench" was wrong about you, because you're never going to change. With you, it's always about power and control and punishment. You're too selfish to love anybody but yourself.
Adam: Ok, ok, ok, you gave me the baby announcement and the lecture, so why are you still here?
Tad: I'm here to give you a warning.
Adam: Ooh, is that it? Fatherhood must've gone to your head. What -- what makes you think you could possibly be a threat to me?
Krystal: You know, I always thought I had X-ray vision when it came to men. I -- I enjoyed the romance and the good times, but I could see past any sweet-talk, be ready when reality hit, and it always did. That's why I never bothered with a piece of paper. Then this time around I just never saw it coming. All these years and here I am, foolish over a man who could've cost my baby her life.
Babe: Mama, you can't be hard on yourself for loving Adam.
Krystal: I -- I got in deep, Babe, and he has every right to be angry. I just thought our love was so forever that I could win him back. When did I get so soft, huh? Really, when did I sign up for this fantasy world? I mean, "Dreams never die," "Love always wins." Since when?
Babe: You're not the only one. How many times did I go back to J.R., thinking, "Oh, this time it'll be better, it'll work?" It never did.
Krystal: I am done dreaming.
Babe: I guess I am, too.
J.R.: I'm not busting you out. Julia said she had to tie you up because you almost passed out twice.
Jamie: Oh, don't pretend you give a damn about me. You're trying to protect your father. If you had it your way, he'd be in the next cubicle right now -- the proud papa of my dad's baby.
J.R.: It didn't work out that way.
Jamie: Oh, don't pat yourself on the back, because if it had, you'd be fine with it. So what if my dad never knew he had a daughter? So what if Adam had another child that turned out to be just like you?
J.R.: Look, I made a promise to Krystal.
Jamie: Shove your promises. Your loyalty has always been to Adam -- always was, always will be. You're way more his son than you'll ever be my brother.
Colby: How's our baby?
Julia: She's healthy and strong. You did a great job, Colby.
Colby: Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa -- because you're not just saying that, right? You would tell me if she wasn't? I had no idea what I was doing. What end would come out first. I -- I was afraid I'd mess up.
Julia: Well, you did everything right. You should be very proud of yourself.
Julia: Yeah, you kept your cool. You made all the right decisions. You should consider a career in medicine.
Colby: I highly doubt that.
Colby: Because don't you have to pass Biology to get into med school?
Aidan: Yeah, I made some contacts in the area where I last saw Ava, and I showed them a picture of you, and some of them recognized it. I gave them my telephone number in case they ever saw her again, so Ava can call me.
Lily: Well, that does qualify as good news. Now all we have to do is wait for her to call.
Aidan: Look, I know how much you want to meet this girl, Lily? Ok, but I don't want you getting your hopes up. It might not happen.
Lily: Why not?
Ava: What are you dragging me out here for? Want a little quickie or something, because I'm not in the mood.
Jonathan: Lower your voice.
Ava: Why? You afraid my long-lost sister is going to hear me?
Jonathan: Half sister. Lily has enough challenges in her life. She does not need you, with your trash mouth.
Ava: Oh, yeah? Isn't it weird how she sounded almost exactly like me?
Jonathan: No, no, not even close.
Ava: You know, are you -- are you positive that she has that Autism Spectrum -- whatever it is that you claim that she has? She sounds pretty normal to me.
Jonathan: You don't know Lily. You -- you wouldn't understand.
Ava: You're right, I -- I probably don't. Who knows, maybe she is challenged. There's got to be some excuse for marrying a creep like you.
Jonathan: All right, you keep it down. No, you do me one better. Why don't you keep your mouth shut?
Ava: You know, if Lily survived a loser such as yourself, she would totally survive me, don't you think? I mean, hell, I'm fun. She might even like me. Let's give it a shot.
Bianca: Here. I'm sorry if that seemed forward.
Zoe: No, no, no, it's all right.
Bianca: Well, I upset you.
Zoe: No, no, no. It's this body, this masculine body of mine. It doesn't feel like mine. I know I've used it before, but now when I look in the mirror, I flinch and I turn away and I -- this isn't me, Bianca. I don't want to come to you like this.
Bianca: You once asked me if I was attracted to bodies or souls. I said souls. It's still true. I am attracted to your soul, Zoe, and when I look at you, I see you -- not clothes, not body parts -- you.
Zoe: You're the best thing that ever happened to me. My pure white knight. I'm afraid I could be the worst thing that's ever happened to you.
Bianca: "The worst thing that's ever happened to me"?
Zoe: Oh, I don't want to hurt you.
Bianca: How could a woman who makes me laugh, who dances me through a thunderstorm, who has opened my heart in so many surprising ways ever hurt me?
Zoe: You know the person that I am now, but the journey is so difficult, Bianca. There are so many changes, some good, some bad, I --
Bianca: Yes, I get it, you will experience physical changes and mental and emotional, but you'll still be you.
Zoe: But the hormones could cause mood swings and --
Bianca: That's temporary.
Zoe: And changes in personality.
Bianca: Why are you doing this? I care about you, changes or no changes, mood swings or not.
Zoe: I just want you to be prepared. In my transgender group there -- I've heard so many stories, you know, about how a transition can strain a relationship, even mature relationships and grounded relationships and strong relationships.
Bianca: I'm ready for anything that may happen. Wherever this journey takes you, I'm going to be there for every step. I'm not afraid.
Zoe: What if I'm afraid for you, and me?
Krystal: I just didn't see it. I was just madder than a tick at Tad for moving in and trying to protect me from my husband. I was so sure. I didn't have the sense to be afraid.
Babe: Mama, you fought for your marriage. There is no shame in that, and besides, it is a Carey tradition -- we don't give up without a fight.
Krystal: Tell you what, that little girl right there is a fighter. I just hope she fights for the right things.
Babe: Hey, you can barely even keep your eyes open. How about you get some rest?
Krystal: Ok. Maybe just a little bit. Love you.
Babe: I love you. Sweet dreams, and I will be back.
J.R.: I'm through with my father.
Jamie: Yeah, I've heard that one before.
J.R.: What he did with Krystal, the way he walked out on her -- he crossed a line.
Jamie: Oh, what do you know? I guess we are on the same side. Get me out of these.
J.R.: No chance. I know what you're going through, you're out for blood. If I get you out of those, you're going to do something that you regret. I've been there.
Jamie: I'm not drunk.
J.R.: No. But what you have in mind, you're going to wind up behind bars just the same. Not if I can help it.
Jamie: That's bull. You're still trying to protect your father. You want to know why I'm all banged up? It's because of Adam. He had Janet Dillon call me, ask to meet me, all alone. I hit the road, he hit me.
J.R.: Janet and my dad?
Jamie: Think about it. Adam breaks Janet out of the hospital, he has the perfect weapon. He gets to nail everyone he hates, and he blames it all on her. My dad and Krystal top the list. I'm sure I'm the lucky runner-up.
J.R.: Damn it. Look, Jamie, I swear I won't let my father get to you or Krystal or Tad or anybody that we care about.
Jamie: That's great. That's what I need -- more promises.
J.R.: Look, I've already lost Little Adam and Babe. I'm not going to lose you and Tad, too. Now, if cutting my father down is the way that I can keep the rest of what's left of my family, so be it. You have my word. Now, will you just trust me? I'll take care of my father myself.
Babe: Tell Jamie his little sister's waiting to meet him.
Julia: I will.
J.R.: What's wrong?
Babe: I need your help.
Adam: A declaration of war from an idiot. I'm all aflutter.
Tad: No. No, what you are is a very, very dangerous man. In 24 hours you managed to threaten the life of both my daughter and my son.
Adam: Your son? Jamie? What the hell did I do to Jamie?
Tad: You ran him off the road the night before the baby was born.
Adam: No, unless my memory fails me, you had me locked up that night.
Tad: And somehow you managed to get out, rear-end Jamie and Amanda, and make it back in time, pretend you never left.
Tad: You could've killed both of them.
Adam: Yeah, well, you see, if I ever wanted to take your child from you, he'd be dead by now.
Tad: That'll be the last mistake you ever make. Because if you ever, ever hurt one of my children, I will come back here and, I swear to God, I will rip your heart out.
Adam: Why don't you go home and fall on your knees and thank God that you survived poaching my wife!
Tad: That's right. Adam, if you want to go after me, you go after me. But you stay away from my children.
Adam: Go home and say your prayers.
Aidan: I just don't want you getting excited about something that might not happen, all right? Ava could be anywhere. She might have moved. Or maybe she's -- she's just not interested in meeting a relative.
Lily: Why wouldn't she be? Blood relationships are really important.
Di: Yeah, they are. Meeting Dixie changed my life.
Aidan: You got to understand something, Lily. All right, Ava chose to leave home. All right, she lives on the street. She might've had a bad family life. I mean, her home life might've been rough, so she might not be into the relative thing.
Lily: Why do your eyes keep looking over there, or over there? That's a facial cue of possible dishonesty or evasiveness. Is there something you're not telling me?
Ava: What's your problem? My sister wants to meet me.
Jonathan: Yeah, but I think this isn't about you.
Ava: Ugh, how boring is that?
Jonathan: Oh -- oh, Aidan better figure this out fast. Whew. But until then, I want you to stay away from Lily. Why don't you just leave? Because somebody like Lily has zero to offer somebody like you.
Ava: And how do you know what someone like me wants?
Jonathan: Money. Money, money, money.
Jonathan: Or other people's jewelry. You see, Lily's not rich. And you think that we're all too lame for you, so what reason do you have to stay?
Ava: Look, this place doesn't exactly rock, ok, but I can't go back to my old stomping grounds right now. Something happened, I ticked off a little too many people, and it's really not safe for me.
Jonathan: So what do you plan to do with the rest of your life?
Ava: Oh, I know exactly what I want to do. It's just getting there that's the problem.
Jonathan: I'll drive you.
Ava: To Hollywood? I don't think so, Jon. I'm going to be a star. A celebutante. It's going to be lights, camera, reality, Ava. I'm going to be golden, everyone's going to love me, I'm going to have a big mansion, swimming pools, and waterfalls, and paparazzi snapping me everywhere I go, guys loving all over me. I'm going to be golden. No one can even touch me.
Jonathan: Maybe I can help you.
Bianca: Ok, I get it. Going through the transition is scary. So is starting a new relationship. Trying to do them both at the same time, beyond scary. But we can do it together. If you can risk it, so can I.
Zoe: Ugh. I'm selfish, supremely selfish. I always have been. And spoiled rotten. My entourage used to keep my ego fluffed and my fans get my energy flowing. I just don't know, without my props and my posse and my peeps, I just don't know if I can do it.
Bianca: Do what?
Zoe: Be happy! Stay happy. Good Lord, make someone else happy, too. I -- I just don't know if that's possible for me. Oh, God, I'm making a mock of this. Please tell me you understand.
Bianca: Yeah. I totally get it.
Zoe: Bianca? Bianca?
[Holding his baby girl, Tad looks into her sweet little face]
Tad: I know you.
Julia: Call me if you need me, Tad.
Tad: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Whoo-whoo. Look at you. Oh, yeah. I know you. I certainly do. You may not know me yet, but we are going to take good care of that, because I'm going to be the guy that's sticking his mug in your crib every minute of every day, waiting for you to wake up so that we get to know each other. What do you think? Yeah? You like that idea, don't you? I can tell.
[Tad chuckles as the baby smiles in her sleep]
Tad: Yep. I am going to be there every minute of every day, day or night, 2:00 a.m., midnight, first thing in the morning, lunch time, dinner time, right before you go to sleep. Yeah. Yep. That's right. It's a deal. Yeah, I'm going to burp you, I'm going to bathe you. God, I am going to stand on my head if I have to to get you to laugh.
Tad: It's going to be an easy job, I can tell. Yeah. Wow. I'll always be there for you. That's ok. You may not know me yet, but I recognized you from the moment I first saw you, Jenny. That's your name. Jenny. Hi. Is that ok with you?
Krystal: Your sister. Not Adam's.
Krystal: Oh. Say hello to your daddy, Jenny.
Adam: Who's there? Martin? Is that you? So help me God --
Winifred: Mr. -- Mr. Chandler, uh --
Adam: Why --
Winifred: I didn't mean to bother you, sir.
Adam: Why isn't my grandson in bed? Take him to the nursery.
Winifred: I'm taking him to spend the evening at the Valley Inn with his mother, sir.
Adam: No, my grandson's not going anywhere.
Babe: Don't touch him.
Adam: What are you doing here?
Babe: I called to check on Little A, and when he said that you're back -- my son is coming with us. Let's go, Winnie.
Adam: Wait a minute, wait a minute -- you're part of this? Oh. You're fired.
Winifred: I quit.
Adam: Well, don't expect a reference.
Babe: She doesn't need one. She's going to be Little A's nanny.
Adam: Oh. Oh, how nice. How cute, how sweet.
J.R.: I've got all of the rest of Little Adam's stuff together, and the robo-dino's already in the car.
Adam: You're caving on this nonsense?
J.R.: No. I'm 100% behind it. And you're not Little A's grandfather anymore, ok?
Zoe: Bianca, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Where are you going? Why are you angry? I was just being honest.
Bianca: Honest people don't hide behind excuses.
Bianca: Your body, your hormones, the journey, whatever might happen or might not. If you were really honest, you would just tell me the truth, straight out.
Zoe: What truth? What truth are you looking for?
Bianca: "I adored you when I thought I couldn't have you. Now that I can, not so much." Thrill's gone. Moving on -- right along.
Zoe: No, no, no. Is that what you really think?
Bianca: You have me, and now you don't want me. It's classic.
Zoe: Maybe. But I'm not.
Aidan: Lily, I'm not keeping anything from you that you need to know. We might find Ava, we might not, all right? A lot of things could go wrong. I just don't want you getting disappointed, that's all.
Lily: Is this because I have Autism Spectrum Disorder, and you think that she might not want to be related to someone like me?
Aidan: Anyone would be lucky to be related to you.
Di: No, you don't have to be perfect to be loved. Everyone's flawed.
Lily: So, if you don't hear from the look-alike that could be my relative or the people that know her, you'll go out, look for her some more?
Aidan: I will. I promise.
Di: You know what, Lily? I have a feeling that this is all going to turn out exactly the way it's supposed to.
Lily: I hope you're right, because I really, really still want to meet her.
Jonathan: 6234-7290, expiration August, 2009. Yeah, one-way to Los Angeles, that's correct. Yeah, thanks. All right. Your flight leaves in two hours, you better get rolling.
Ava: No, this is -- this is so great of you, really.
Ava: It sucks that I'm not going to make that flight, huh? Don't even have enough cash to get to the airport.
Jonathan: We'll take my car.
Ava: And what am I supposed to do when I get to Los Angeles, Jonny? You want me to panhandle? Dumpster dive? Sleep on a bench? No! Not part of the plan.
Jonathan: Here. This is going to be enough to get you to and from the airport and for a hotel when you get off the plane.
Ava: Are you serious?
[Jonathan keeps putting money into Ava's hand until she's happy]
Di: Did you see how excited Lily was to meet Ava? Aidan, how can you keep them apart?
Aidan: That's enough -- enough, all right? I get it. It's not up to me, it's not my call -- it's up to Jack.
Di: Where's Ava? She knew it was Lily, didn't she?
Jonathan: Doesn't matter -- she's catching a plane.
Jonathan: Ava wanted to be a star, so I sent her to Hollywood, one way.
Di: Are you crazy? Jonathan, you know, you're not married to Lily. I don't know when you're going to get that.
Jonathan: Ok. Lily thought that she and I were too different to stay married. Now, how different are Lily and Ava? Lily's world, Di, is about clocks. It's about her schedules, it's about her routines. Now, I want you to explain to me -- please, explain to me where her thieving hooker half-sister is going to fit into that.
Di: She's not really a hooker.
Aidan: But he still has a good point.
Di: Ok, you know what? Good, good -- you two are in agreement. I guess that's all that counts, because who gives a damn what Lily wants! And Ava -- I mean, forget about her.
Zoe: You are a miracle of a woman, Bianca, and you deserve every good thing in life.
Bianca: Do I get a say in that or are you deciding for me?
Zoe: I love you more than anything in my whole life, and I don't want to do anything to mess us up. I want to feel worthy of you, Bianca, and I don't, not yet. And if I could have some magical lightning bolt strike me and make me into the woman that I want to be, the woman that you deserve -- radiant and confident and who will enrich your life beyond your wildest dreams -- but no lightning bolt, just me, and not even a woman, physically. You have so much to offer, Bianca. And what have I to give you? Need, uncertainty? A bumpy ride? Please tell me you understand.
[Sitting alone in the dark, Adam recalls scenes from the past with Krystal and cries]
Krystal: Why? What are you up to?
Adam: I've forgotten how to sleep without you.
Krystal: You've got to help me, Adam! Help her!
Tad: You know something? Between the Martin and the Carey genes --
Krystal: Yeah, the world better watch out.
Tad: Indeed. Guess who's coming!
Tad: Hey, party's here.
Babe: Is she awake?
Tad: Kind of, sort of.
Colby: Oh, she is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen, and smart. I can tell. Aw.
J.R.: Colby's right. She's a winner.
Krystal: Her name is Jenny.
J.R.: That's great.
Colby: I like it. She is definitely and totally a Jenny.
Krystal: She doesn't have a middle name yet, though. I -- I was thinking Colby. What do you think, Tad?
Tad: I think that works just great for me.
Colby: No -- really?
Babe: You know what that means, though? You have to babysit for free.
Jamie: Got room for one more?
Babe: Of course. Hey.
Tad: Especially if you're dressed like that.
Jamie: Thanks, Dad.
Jonathan: Di will realize that some people don't want saving. They want to be celebutantes. Ava's jetting her way to LA right now. Problem solved.
Aidan: It's probably for the best.
Jonathan: What are you going to tell Lily?
Aidan: I'll figure it out.
[Ava walks around Wildwind's grounds smiling]
Bianca: What happens now?
Zoe: I wish I knew. Are you still angry with me?
[When Bianca doesn't respond, Zoe places her hand on hers]
Zoe: Let me take you home?
Colby: Gosh, she is so precious.
Krystal: You want to hold her?
Tad: All right, come on. Go on.
Krystal: Colby, come on, this is the easy part.
Julia: Yeah. You better get in some practice with all the babysitting you're going to be doing.
Babe: For free.
Tad: Do it.
Colby: Ok, here.
Colby: Come here, little girl.
Krystal: Ah, yeah.
Colby: Hey, Jenny Colby Carey. Oh.
Colby: Hey -- I think she recognizes me.
J.R.: Oh, good grief. She delivers one kid, it goes right to her head.
Tad: Hey -- not just any kid.
Colby: Our baby.
[Standing out in the hall, Adam wistfully looks at the happy family scene inside the hospital room]
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Aidan (to Jonathan): Ava never boarded that flight to LA.
Aidan (to Jack): What do you want me to do, Jack? Do you want me to track her down again? If Ava met Lily, who knows what would happen?
Erica (to Ava): Lily? What are you doing here?
Erica (to Lily): I just saw you up in your room.
