Ryan: Oh. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you.

Annie: The party -- Ryan, what happened? Kendall -- is she all right?

Kendall: Zach, let me help.

Amelia's voice: Don't make this harder on any of us, please!

Alexander's voice: You're the one who's done that.

Kendall: You're thinking about the night that she died? Remembering the argument? Zach? I'm right, aren't I?

Zach: I don't want to remember.

Ryan: So, Kendall and Zach flushed out another suspect.

Annie: So this Raymond Jenkins signed those love letters "R"? He was having the affair with Zach's mother?

Ryan: And now the police are trying to figure out where this guy was when my sister and Simone were killed and when Dani was attacked.

Julia: Hey, what the hell were you talking about? Downstairs, you made some scary prediction.

Jamie: It's been a rough night.

Julia: Yeah, I totally get that. Jamie, come on. The thoughts in your head are screaming to get out.

Jamie: My brother's life is about to go down in flames, and there's not a damn thing I can do to help him.

J.R.: Couldn't hear you. Wow. That tough a decision. I guess you and Krystal aren't as tight as I thought you were. Or you didn't get it. You can either, A, do nothing and watch your pregnant mama, aka cheating whore, get driven out to the snow, or you can, B, sign over custody of Little Adam to me and, I'll sit on your trampy mama's secret.

Babe: We are raising Little Adam together.

J.R.: Not anymore. Sign the paper.

Babe: I want us to keep working on things the way that we have been. I -- I love you, and I love our son.

J.R.: Blah, blah, blah -- the deal, Babe. Take it. Sign right here, or watch Krystal go down.

Babe: I am not leaving you, or our son.

J.R.: You don't have a choice. Or didn't I tell you? I'm divorcing you. Oh, that got your attention.

Babe: Something happened at the party.

J.R.: No. You think?

Babe: Did you -- did you drink?

J.R.: Oh, yeah, sure. Yeah. It's got to be my fault, right? I hit the bottle again. No, Babe, I haven't had anything stronger than club soda the entire night. But you know what? I sure feel like celebrating.

Babe: Why are you acting like this? Where did this come from all of a sudden?

J.R.: You have no idea?

Babe: J.R., I can't help unless you fill me in.

J.R.: Oh, you want me open up? You want me to share my feelings with you? I don't do that, Babe. Neither do you, especially when it comes to telling the truth, anyway.

Babe: I can't just keep guessing.

J.R.: You want someone to connect with their inner child, to share with you? Why don't you call up Josh? I mean, because that's part of the attraction, right?

Babe: Ok, so you're angry about Josh.

J.R.: Wow! Another breakthrough. Are you sure you weren't the one drinking at the party? Blacked out?

Babe: Ok, so -- he shouldn't -- he shouldn't have approached you and said that you were putting me in danger, but I -- I told him that I was there because I wanted to be. I was very clear on that point, J.R.

J.R.: Oh, yeah, you were real clear. Real clear and real convincing.

Babe: So, what, are you -- are you mad at me, because I talked to him?

J.R.: You think I'm a fool.

Babe: No, I don't.

J.R.: It's my fault. Yes, I am a fool, as a matter of fact. I was a fool about you -- from the moment that I met you and the moment that I fell -- whew -- that's over.

Babe: If I knew what I'd done --

J.R.: You know, and Josh knows exactly what happened when you ducked into that shed.

Jamie: All I can do is be there for J.R. if he wants to talk, or even if he wants to just hold it all in, I -- I can just be there.

Julia: You'll steady him. You're a good balance for J.R. You're so much more normal.

Jamie: Right.

Julia: And I mean that in a good way. J.R. needs somebody who will think before he acts. Maybe you can help him keep things from becoming worse for himself and for everyone else.

Jamie: I'll do what I can.

Julia: Well, from one who knows, your love and your loyalty are all anybody in trouble could ever need.

Ryan: The cops still have Jenkins. And while I was in mayhem --

Annie: Oh.

Ryan: You were --

Annie: Sewing.

Ryan: Sewing.

Annie: Sewing --

Ryan: Uh-huh.

Annie: Buttons on Emma's Valentine's pageant costume.

Ryan: Ah. Emma's the -- the Valentine fairy?

Annie: Yeah.

Ryan: Yeah.

Annie: We have a winner.

Ryan: Yeah. I guess that's a little bit obvious, yeah.

Annie: Yeah.

Ryan: So is that what they're teaching kids these days? You get a broken heart, you put it under the pillow, and you get a dollar from the --

Annie: Ah.

Ryan: Valentine fairy? Is that what --

Annie: Well, if she didn't fly around whispering in people's ears, reminding us to buy cards and heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, romance as we know it would be gone. Kaput. The world would be a -- a cold and loveless place.

Ryan: Yeah.

Annie: Thank God we have Emma, the Valentine fairy.

Ryan: Thank God.

Annie: Yeah. An: I can't wait to see her in it. No, I mean, here -- you know, here in, you know -- ahem -- in the penthouse assuming that she's going to model it for us, right?

Annie: Oh, she wanted me to sew it on her.

Ryan: Yeah?

Annie: No buttons or -- or pins necessary. She never wants to take it off.

Ryan: Really? You need any help with this?

Annie: Do you sew?

Ryan: I'm more of a power tool kind of guy.

Annie: That's ok. I think I have it covered.

Ryan: Yeah?

Annie: Yeah.

Ryan: Of course, you do. Super Mom's got it all under control, right?

Kendall: We're surrounded here by -- by all of your childhood stuff. I mean, your -- your father's favorite chair, your mom's favorite table. This is too much, Zach. It's too much.

[Out of frustration, Zach shatters a couple of vases and a plate against the wall]

Kendall: Whatever makes you feel better.

Zach: I don't want to frighten you. I'm -- I --

Kendall: You -- you're not.

[Kendall joins in the fun by shattering a plate herself then hands a few glass objects to Zach]

Kendall: Again? I can do this all night.

Zach: What -- these?

Kendall: Throw them.

Zach: Come here.

[Zach pulls Kendall into a hug]

J.R.: Your whole noble motive about going to the party to be bait for the killer -- that was total bull. You went to have a quickie with your lover.

Babe: I don't have a lover.

J.R.: When I found out that you were missing, I broke into a sweat. I thought maybe you'd been drugged -- maybe you were dying like my mother died. But when I found out you were hooking up -- that never even entered my mind.

Babe: I wasn't hooking up.

J.R.: I should have never even gotten upset at your bodyguard. He didn't lose you, you gave him the slip so you could hook up with your lover.

Babe: That is ridiculous. Josh wanted to talk.

J.R.: Oh, talk? Talk? Again?

Babe: And I didn't try to ditch my bodyguard, I asked him to get me a drink, and Josh grabbed me.

J.R.: Well, at least he knows how you like it.

Babe: Don't be ugly. Josh was afraid that I would get hurt.

J.R.: Well, there's nothing like showing you care than shagging in a shed.

Babe: Josh does still want me.

J.R.: Good, at least you have a place to go.

Babe: But I don't want him. I love you, and I want to be here with you and our son.

J.R.: Would you shut the hell up? I saw you, Babe. I saw you kissing him in the shed!

Babe: It was a good-bye kiss!

J.R.: Right. Right. You kissed all of this and your son good-bye.

Babe: Josh finally gets it. He understands. It is over between us, J.R.

J.R.: How many times have I heard this? "Oh, Josh gets it. Josh understands it. We're a family."

Babe: Yes. Yes, but I believed that it was true each time.

J.R.: "Oh, why don't we play J.R. again? He'll get over it." But you did. Where were you New Year's Eve?

Babe: No. No, no, no. Don't -- don't put that on me. You told me to go to that party. You said that I needed to be there for Fusionís sake.

J.R.: I never said anything about you bringing in 2007 sucking face with Josh! And what happened next? You came up to me, swore your love.

Babe: Don't do this, J.R., please.

J.R.: And that whole "Oh, I was so faint, I had to go to Josh's room to get my blood pressure checked --"

Babe: Completely innocent. And you wouldn't even know anything about it if I hadn't have told you.

J.R.: I saw you --

Babe: Because I have nothing to hide.

J.R.: I saw you, Babe. On camera.

Annie: My stomach clutched when Emma and I ran into Julia.

Ryan: Oh.

Annie: She was on Tad and Dixie's side with that whole --

Ryan: Yeah, but she didn't know the whole story.

Annie: And thanks to you, Emma and I are still together. But Julia was not one of my favorite people. Emma and Kathy, on the other hand --

Ryan: Totally hit it off?

Annie: New best friends. I mean, they played once together in the park before, but this -- this was ultimate bonding.

Ryan: Was it?

Annie: So -- Emma actually talked the whole way home about sharing her Little Mermaid doll with Kathy.

Ryan: What?

Annie: I --

Ryan: She won't even let me hold Ariel!

Annie: For Emma to even consider sharing her most prized possession --

Ryan: I know. Sharing can be tough.

Jamie: I guess you'll be scheduling a lot more play dates with Emma McDermott.

Julia: Well, I might not have to. Uh -- I asked Annie if -- if she and Emma would like to join the Wildwind madness.

Jamie: Maternal brainstorm.

Julia: You think it's a good idea?

Jamie: Having an on-site playmate? Trust me, there's nothing like it.

Julia: I'm not talking about you and me.

Jamie: Well, who wants to talk, anyway?

Julia: Ooh.

Julia: Jamie?

Jamie: Hmm.

Julia: We're not alone.

[Kathy suddenly appears at the foot of Julia and Jamie's bed]

Ryan: Wow -- when you and Emma make friends, you really don't waste any time.

Annie: Well, you know, it makes -- makes so much sense. Emma would have Kathy right there, and -- and you know how much she adores Jonathan and Di. And I could -- I could save some money for my own place.

Ryan: I -- I want to contribute to Emma's support.

Annie: Yeah, and I -- I appreciate that. I do, I do, but I can't.

Ryan: Well, hey, it's not like it would be any hardship for me.

Annie: That's not the point. I wasn't going to tell you this yet.

Ryan: No turning back now.

Annie: I'm considering the move to Wildwind, because I've decided what to do about you and Emma.

Kendall: Feel free. Go ahead and toss that glass. Toss every glass in the room. Then we can work out way to the china downstairs. There's about 6,000 place settings.

Zach: I would do that. Believe me, it wouldn't make any difference, because none of those things belonged to my dad.

Kendall: Ok. You know what I think we need? I think we need to change out of these stuffy clothes, and we need to go back to the house. And on the way there, we'll pick up a can of gas. Because that house clearly reminds you too much of your childhood home, so we need to torch the place. Let's torch it. And I'm serious, Zach. If -- if this'll make you smile, then I will gladly throw the first lit match.

Zach: You would do that, wouldn't you?

Kendall: Yeah, I would, so let's go. I am going to drive.

Zach: It's not the house, honey. It's the Cambias curse. And I always thought it was about the lust for greed but it's not. That's not what destroyed my family. It was my dad's cruelty. That's what killed my mom. And that's what turned Michael into the monster that he became. The darkness and the pain. You fall in love with a Cambias and you will suffer.

Kendall: But you've broken the Cambias curse.

Zach: Yeah. But if I'd known all this, I wouldn't have dragged you into it.

Kendall: Oh -- you did not drag me into anything.

Zach: I wouldn't have let you marry me.

Kendall: I think this Cambias curse -- I think it's just a load of bull. It is.

Zach: I can't do this to you, I'm sorry.

Kendall: Zach, I don't believe in this curse. Ok? I believe in us.

Zach: I can't do it. I can't do it to you, I can't --

Kendall: Yes, yes --

[Kendall kisses Zach]

Kendall: I believe in us.

Babe: You put a camera in Josh's room?

J.R.: No. Not personally. I was at death's door, remember?

Babe: Ok, so you watched a video, or whatever. Then you would know that Josh and I didn't do anything.

J.R.: That time, maybe not.

Babe: We have not been sleeping together.

J.R.: Don't waste your time. Convince a family-court judge.

Babe: I will, and I can, because I am innocent, yes.

J.R.: Innocent? That would never fly.

Babe: You know what, J.R.? You can divorce me.

J.R.: Thanks. I think I will.

Babe: Even though there was no affair.

J.R.: You did the deed.

Babe: Once, a long time ago, and I have paid for it.

J.R.: You will pay.

Babe: You can't take my son away, because of something like this.

J.R.: Oh, yeah? Watch me.

Babe: No judge is going to take my child over a few kisses.

J.R.: You either sign this document, give me full custody, or watch your mama hit the pavement. And then I'll drag you through the mud until you choke on it.

Babe: You leave my mama out of this. I am a good mother.

J.R.: "Good mother." A good mother? A good mother doesn't bring freaks like Zarf into our home when our son is around. A good mother does not bring a serial trained killer into our house and choose him over our entire family!

Babe: Zoe didn't do it.

J.R.: That deviant was suspect number one when he curled up into your bed with you.

Babe: Don't make it sound like it's --

J.R.: Love? Lust?

Babe: Something sexual. It's -- we're friends, J.R.

J.R.: Oh, and -- and Zarfie was so grateful. You know, he knew that you would keep him -- she -- her safe, no matter what.

Babe: Really? And -- and when would she tell you this, of all people?

J.R.: In jail. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I have it all recorded. It was quite touching, of course. I have you recorded, as well, going on about how loving and devoted you are, and how you would never abandon him -- or her. It proves that you're crazy about this freak, but not just that -- that you're just plain crazy. And a judge can't miss that.

Babe: I was trying to be a good friend.

J.R.: Well, the photo I have of you two curled up in bed looks a little more than just friendly.

Babe: So, all of this was -- it was an act? You never wanted us to start over? All this time, you've been setting me up. So, how long have you been building this little case of yours against me?

J.R.: Long enough to make a really solid one.

Babe: You know, I -- I actually thought that you were coming around, that we had a chance.

J.R.: Poor you.

Babe: You never, even for a second, wanted to start over? Just one second?

J.R.: And that matters how?

Babe: There was never even an -- an instant when you -- when you looked at me, when you held my hand, when you acted worried? Not even a moment of that was real?

J.R.: Well, there might have been once or twice till I realized I was -- man, forgot how stupid I was to actually believe in you.

Babe: I have been telling you the truth, J.R.

J.R.: Actually, there was once or twice when I thought we might have a future and now, thinking back, it -- it makes me sick.

Babe: We did, and we can if you want to try.

J.R.: You think I want you? Oh, God, you are unbelievably dumb.

Babe: You know what? I guess I am, for trusting you. Oh, God, everyone warned me.

J.R.: Oh, what did they tell you -- to avoid me?

Babe: Oh.

J.R.: Run the other direction? You see what stubborn gets you?

Babe: And then just to find out that it's all a scam.

J.R.: You wanted me back on the bottle.

Babe: That is ridiculous.

J.R.: You wanted me to get so plastered that you and your pal Josh and your lesbian gal pal could come in here to the mansion.

Babe: What the heck are you talking about? Where are you getting this --

J.R.: And your slut mama could keep Tad in the dark about his baby, try to pass it off as my father's. Was that it?

Babe: Mama loves Adam, J.R.

J.R.: Mama slept with Tad. Did you inherit the sleep-around gene? Will that be your defense?

Babe: I don't need a defense.

J.R.: Oh. I think you will. You know, I was ready to keep Tad's baby a secret, because you asked me, you begged me. "Don't destroy Krystal."

Babe: Or Adam. Your father loves my mother.

J.R.: Yeah, but, you see, the woman that my father loves doesn't exist. She's a fake, she's a liar. Does that sound familiar?

Babe: Don't do this, J.R., please. You can hate me, and you can hurt me, but not them -- not Mama and not Adam. Dixie told you a secret before she died, and she trusted you to do the right thing with that information.

J.R.: The offer is on the table, and it will not be there much longer.

Babe: It is not an offer, it's blackmail, J.R., and it's not going to fly. You can do whatever you want, but I will fight for my son.

J.R.: Try it. You will end up with nothing except maybe Krystal. I'll have our son. Tad'll probably have Krystal's baby that she's been trying to pass off as my father's. Well, on second thought, you probably won't even have Krystal, because she's going to hate you so much for trashing her life. You'll have nothing. You'll have less than nothing.

[When J.R. leaves the room, Babe tears up J.R.'s paper then follows him to his room.]

J.R.: Well, it didn't take you long to realize you were beaten. Where's the paper?

Babe: Don't bother piecing it back together. It's not signed.

J.R.: I'll wake up Krystal. I can't wait to see her face when she realizes how little she means to you.

Babe: And Adam's when he realizes that you don't give a damn about him, either.

J.R.: Look, you and your mama slut around, it's not my fault.

Babe: Oh, it sure doesn't take alcohol to make you mean. Your mama did not want you to use her dying words as a weapon to hurt people.

J.R.: Hurt people, ruin lives? Talking to me about hurting people? My mother died in your place. She's dead because of you, all because you couldn't eat your favorite pancake breakfast, your stupid favorite breakfast. No, "ruin lives"? You should be in the ground, not her! And I wish to hell you were.

Babe: I'm glad I kissed Josh. Finally got the truth out of you.

Kendall: Our baby is going to be so gorgeous.

Zach: "Our baby"? You're not pregnant.

Kendall: Well, I could be after that.

[Kendall chuckles]

Zach: You didn't do the thing with the -- the thing? You know I love you, but I --

Kendall: Thing? Honey, I love you, too. And if we have a baby, we'll love it. But -- but, but, but -- stop. Tonight, it's just you and me tonight.

Zach: Ok, but we -- we can't have a child right now. It's too dangerous.

Kendall: Ok, well, the situation is temporary.

Zach: And it wouldn't be fair to the kid. Come on.

Kendall: Say we did have a baby. I think that everything would be great. The baby would grow up in a loving, supportive, happy family. And Daddy, Mommy, big brother Spike -- everything would be perfect. And with the killer safely behind bars, our life would be nothing but wonderful and happy.

Zach: We can't do this right now.

Kendall: Zach? What happened with my friends and what's going on is -- it's tragic, but we're going to get through this.

Zach: It's a tragedy that I set in motion.

Kendall: Yeah, but -- no, you didn't. It wasn't you. You are so close to figuring this out, and you're going to find out what happened the night that your mother died. And when all of that's over, you will come back here in the present with me, and I will love you and be there for you. And we are going to move on together. That is a guarantee.

Zach: Oh, yeah?

Kendall: Yeah.

Zach: Let me show you something.

Kendall: Yeah?

[Kendall giggles as Zach pulls the sheet over them]

Jamie: So this monster -- is it the size of a pocketbook or is it one of those big inflatable kinds that fill up whatever space it's in?

Kathy: He's big.

Jamie: Number of eyes? You don't have to be exact -- a few, a gazillion?

Kathy: A gazillion!

Jamie: Well, then --

Julia: Gazillion.

Jamie: It'll be hard to sneak up on. Might have to go invisible for this one. The right weapon is everything. Let's see here.

Julia: Wait a minute.

Jamie: Ah. Perfect.

Julia: Are you sure you can handle this, you don't need backup?

Jamie: I got all the backup I need if you're ready to take on this sucker.

Julia: I can go if you're too scared.

Kathy: I want to go!

Jamie: You want to go? Come here. Ooh. One second. Ok. Now we're invisible to everything and everyone except each other. Ok?

Julia: Hey, where'd you go? Let me know when you're going to leave the room.

Jamie: Here's the plan. When the gazillion-eyed monster hears you making some noises to distract him, that's when I'll deflate him with this. You ready?

Annie: When we found out that you were the donor, you could've put a ton of pressure on me, you know -- fought for Emma, demanded some kind of rights.

Ryan: I would never, ever do that.

Annie: But you have money and power and -- and if you'd wanted to, you could've made my life miserable.

Ryan: But that's the last thing in the world that I would ever want to do.

Annie: But you wanted to become Emma's instant daddy. You still do -- you can't help it. Everything you are to Spike, you want to be to Emma, except with Emma, you're trying to make up for lost time. The problem is I'm not used to sharing Emma. It's just -- it's just the opposite. I'm used to keeping her all to myself now -- you know, protecting her from other people, even the man who was supposed to love her and take care of her the most. And that's why this -- that's why this decision was really hard for me.

Ryan: Maybe in time, you'll reconsider.

Annie: I won't be able to. It'll be too late. Once Emma hears that you're her father, she's going to grab on to you harder than that costume.

Ryan: You -- decided to tell her.

Annie: Hmm. Congratulations, Dad.

[Annie chuckles]

Ryan: I --

Annie: Except that -- except -- except this time, it's a girl.

Ryan: Oh. I honestly don't even know what to say, how to thank you, you know? I -- here.

Annie: Thanks.

Ryan: To -- to Emma and to the future.

Annie: To Emma and the future.

Ryan: Hmm.

Annie: And you -- you understand why I have to move out?

Ryan: You don't want to confuse Emma.

Annie: But am I confusing you?

Ryan: I do a pretty good job of that all by myself. No, I -- I understand. Um -- you know, we don't know where this is going, we don't know if this is going to turn into something big or just kind of --

Annie: Fizzle out?

Ryan: Yeah, something like that. And until we do know, until we know if this is turning into something or if, you know, you just don't want Emma to think of us as a family unit living under the same house, that's all.

Annie: Right. It's important for Emma to see us as friends.

Ryan: Mm-hmm. To friends.

Annie: To friendship.

Ryan: Boundaries. To -- to boundaries.

Annie: Those, too. Ah, limits.

Ryan: What? What was that?

Annie: What -- lim -- I -- "limits," I said. Limits are -- are important for children.

Ryan: Oh, ok. Yeah. Ok.

Annie: Cheers, yeah.

Ryan: Limits, to -- to limits. Who couldn't use -- huh. Who couldn't use a few of those?

Jamie: Well, she's asleep with your tennis racket, and apparently, the weapon used against the gazillion-eyed monster makes sure that no others show up, so I think we're good.

Julia: You learn something new every day -- like how wonderful you are.

Jamie: And this is news? Hey --

Julia: Oh.

[Julia giggles]

Julia: Hmm. Jamie?

Jamie: Hmm?

Julia: Hmm.

Kathy: It only works when you're there.

Jamie: Really? Hmm.

[All American Rejects sing "It Ends Tonight" as Annie and Ryan fight their attraction for each other and go to bed separately. Jamie and Julia stroke Kathy's hair as she sleeps between them. Picking up a framed photo of Adam and Krystal, Babe slides to the floor and cries.  Kendall and Zach frolic in their bed.]

Your subtleties
They strangle me
I can't explain myself at all
And all the wants
And all the needs
All I don't want to need at all

The walls start breathing
My mind's unweaving
Maybe it's best you leave me alone
A weight is lifted
On this evening
I give the final blow

When darkness turns to light
It ends tonight
It ends tonight

A falling star
Least I fall alone
I can't explain what you can't explain
Your finding things that you didn't know
I look at you with such disdain

The walls start breathing
My mind's unweaving
Maybe it's best you leave me alone
A weight is lifted
On this evening
I give the final blow

When darkness turns to light
It ends tonight
It ends tonight
Just a little insight we'll make this right
It's too late to fight
It ends tonight
It ends tonight

Oh-oh tonight
This ends too late
It ends tonight

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Erica (to Annie): You take your needy act somewhere else, because you will not get Ryan or his child.

Annie: Erica, I already have Ryan's child.

Josh (to J.R.): Has it occurred to you Babe could be in danger? She has no protection, and you have no idea where she is?

[Someone holding a syringe spies on Babe]
