Babe: Is he harassing you? Did he threaten you?
J.R.: Tell her. Did I harass you? Did -- did I slam on you? Did I make you cry?
Zoe: No, he didn't.
Babe: You finally get to take that thing for a spin off the grounds. And this is where you pick?
Bianca: Just -- just go. Just leave her alone.
Jonathan: Maggie? I didn't know you were in -- Bianca, I -- I didn't know she was -- I didn't know you were here. I'm not going to hurt you.
Carl: Not on my watch. Take a hike!
Jonathan: No -- stop – there’s something I need to say here! I should’ve said it a long time ago.
Ryan: You sure you're up for this?
Josh: Yeah, if you are.
Ryan: You could lose your medical license.
Josh: Yeah, well, I could lose a lot more if I do nothing.
Kendall: Why did you have Bruno bring us here? Why not home or -- I don't know -- the ER?
Zach: Hey --
Kendall: Oh --
Zach: You're all I need.
Kendall: Honey, what -- what happened at that storage facility? How did you get locked in there? How did you get out? My God, you -- you could've been killed.
Zach: Wouldn't have made a difference. If I lose you, I'll be dead anyway.
Kendall: There is not a chance in hell that you will lose me. I have way too much to stick around for -- you and Spike, the loves of my life. We have birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate.
Kendall: We have puppies to buy, first step, first skates, first goal -- I know that's an important one.
Kendall: First car, first date. We have moonlight, lobster dinners, and lots of kisses. So you are definitely, definitely not going to lose me.
Zach: You may not have a say in this.
Kendall: I have plenty to say in this. I am going to do things your way. So, I give -- for you and the Spike man. All right? It's going to go like this. Ahem -- "I will obey all of your commands --" within reason, of course. "I will lie low, and I will listen to every word the guard says. I will eat all of the food brought in by your supplier --" it better be fresh, better be good. "I won't answer the condo door, I won't -- I won't answer the phone, none of that."
Zach: I don't want you to go back to the condo, because you'll be safer here. My security is here, surveillance cameras everywhere. Safe rooms, alarms -- everything.
Kendall: I guess I -- I can't argue with you, can I?
Zach: Be a waste of time.
Kendall: All right, fine. Lock me in.
Zach: I have some people packing up your stuff at the condo right now.
Kendall: Of course. How did I know?
Zach: I know this is not going to be easy. Not seeing Spike, not seeing your friends and your staff. It's the only way I can keep you safe.
Kendall: If you're so darn happy about me being stuck in this pleasure palace, then how come those are still there?
Zach: It's a long day, honey, long day.
Kendall: Yeah, that -- that storage facility -- all the stuff in it from when you were a little boy. Memories -- it brings up hard ones. I'm sorry. Did you find anything, anything important, any clues? You did find something, didn't you -- and it wasn't good. What was it?
J.R.: I had to come look him -- I'm sorry, her -- in the eyes, one-on-one. Look, you brought her into our house, you hid her from the police. It's risky stuff. I had to make sure that our son was safe, so I needed some Q time with Zoe -- to make sure that he -- she is a killer, or not a killer.
Babe: So you put her through the third degree? Look, I'm so sorry.
Zoe: Don't apologize.
J.R.: Look, Babe, you have made it clear that you're in the long haul with Zoe. I just wanted to make sure that she's who you think she is, that our son is safe around her. You know, protecting my family -- it's the best way to flex my wheels.
Babe: Extreme, but you didn't need to do that. I told you how great Zoe is.
J.R.: You've also told me a lot of things. You told me that you and Josh were just friends, that you were just working together. Now, you see, I had to come down here, see for myself. I'll catch you at home.
Babe: Are you sure you're ok? J.R. was cool?
Zoe: Apparently, he thinks you trust too easily. He said he just wanted to watch out for you.
Babe: I know that this may not seem like much, but it's big -- J.R. leaving the jokes at the door -- well, mostly -- and trying to see you for you -- the woman that I know.
Zoe: Bianca believes me now.
Bianca: Just go, Jonathan. Just leave Maggie alone.
Jonathan: You're still afraid of me, and I don't blame you. I don't want you to be. Not anymore. That's why I want to apologize.
Maggie: Ok, let's hear what you have to say.
Jonathan: I hurt you so much when all you did was love me. And I hurt you with words, with a lot of lies, and with my hands. And I -- I blamed you for everything. It was your fault that I was so angry. You made me hit you, and it was sick and it was cruel, and I know that now, and I'm sorry. I don't expect you to forgive me, because I -- I don't know that I can forgive myself.
Bianca: Are you ok?
Maggie: Yeah, I will be -- because of you.
Zoe: When Bianca showed up, I was afraid. I couldn't take any more rejection. But she understands now. She saw me. She saw Zoe -- hmm -- shambles that I am. But she knows I'm not a killer.
Babe: I told you, didn't I? Bianca just needed time.
Zoe: But she really thinks I'm innocent.
Babe: Well, yeah, that's what friends do -- they stand by each other.
Zoe: Oh, I don't know if Bianca and I are friends yet, but we're at peace. It's a start.
Babe: Did J.R. -- did he grill you about the murders?
Zoe: No more than the boys in blue.
Babe: Come on, Zoe, girlfriend to girlfriend, tell me what went down with you and J.R.
Zoe: I did see something in him appealing. But as to the reasons why he was here, I have no idea.
Babe: I think – I think it’s a good thing. J.R. -- he is a complicated man, and he does things for his own reasons. Maybe this is just him trying to have an open mind.
Jack: Derek, just listen -- just listen to me for a second. What I want you to do is keep an open mind about this Fusion killer, ok? We got Zach Slater saying that he was trapped so someone could make a move against Kendall. Ryan swears he saw somebody lurking in the shadows of that rooftop, in close proximity to Kendall. Now, if these guys are right, then this rock star is just not a suspect.
Derek: Or Zach was trapped by a door that slammed shut in a draft, and -- and the person Ryan saw lurking could've been anyone -- a janitor --
Jack: Oh --
Derek: A kid, a shadow --
J.R.: Thanks for letting me see Zarf, Chief Frye.
Derek: Tell me you ticked him off, and he bragged about the murders.
J.R.: I'm sorry. The guy gives me the creeps.
Jack: Yeah, well, you know what? A case of the creeps is not enough reason to hold this guy, which I'm sure his lawyer is going to be pointing out to us in no uncertain terms anytime now. What do you got?
Officer: Thought you may want to see that.
[Derek reads a copy of the “Pine Valley Bulletin”]
Derek: "Satin Slayer strikes three. Danielle Frye still unconscious, full recovery predicted. Will police chief's daughter identify the Satin Slayer?"
J.R.: That's just great. Why don't you put a neon arrow over her head -- "This way to the only person who can identify you"? So if Zarf isn't the killer, Danielle's exposed.
Derek: Don't worry. My daughter's in good hands.
Di: Ooh, flush.
Aidan: And all I have is a pair of 2s. Looks like the pot's yours. Don't spend it all at once.
Di: Great. Huh.
Aidan: Can I have some enthusiasm around here, please?
Aidan: Did any of you ever hear about the poker-playing dog? No, really, there's three guys and they start playing poker -- high-stakes game. Bystander walks past, sees the dog and the guys playing poker, he says, "Wow, smart dog."
Aidan: One of the players says, "Not so smart, because every time he gets a good hand, he wags his tail."
Di: Oh, Aidan, that is the worst joke I've ever heard in my life.
Aidan: Did you ever hear the one about the monkey and the --
Olivia: Oh, please, make him stop.
Di: You, stop. No. Huh. No laughing. Ahem. And the patient is supposed to be unconscious in bed, not having a party.
Livia: Yeah, we will run the killer away for sure.
Di: Oh --
Aidan: But the killer's not going to be here yet. He's going to wait till visiting hours are over, and there's no one in the corridors, and there's no people around. That's when he's going to make his move.
Kendall: "You took my breath away, Amelia. Holding those gardenias, that white, satin ribbon around your neck -- your way of letting me know you were thinking of me." My God, Zach, it's all here. "All my love, R." Who's R?
Zach: I don't know, but I will find out.
Kendall: Well, he loved your mother.
Zach: What? Really? Send him in. Oh, we got company.
Kendall: Is it Solomon Brothers with a food delivery, because I'm starving.
Kendall: Hi. How did you know we were here?
Ryan: I didn't -- till I bumped into Bruno. But this is good. This is -- this is perfect, actually.
Kendall: Why is this perfect?
Ryan: Because I was going to have you meet me here anyway -- it's a lot safer than the condo -- and it is so much more fun -- I mean, according to Spike. You should see him. He's unbelievable-- I mean, apparently, he loves the slots, but he misses his mom a lot more.
Kendall: Is he -- is Spike here right now?
Kendall: Did you -- he's here?
Ryan: Yes, he is.
Kendall: Well, where -- can I see him?
Ryan: He's in room 1223, he's waiting for you!
Kendall: Ok, ok, ok!
Ryan: All right.
Kendall: Thank you! Oh, thank you so much, Ryan.
Ryan: You're welcome.
Kendall: Honey, I'll be back.
Kendall: I'm going -- I'm going to go see my boy.
Kendall: Thank you. Thank you!
Zach: That was very annoying -- and very clever.
Ryan: Spike's idea.
Zach: Why you really here?
Ryan: What'd you find in the warehouse, Zach, that you don't want your wife to know about?
Annie: Oh, who’s that?
Kendall: My sweet.
Kendall: My sweet. Sweet, sweet little boy. My little munchkin.
Annie: Oh, he’s excited! He’s excited!
Kendall: Hi, my sweet! Oh, hello. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. Mama’s missed you so much. Yes, I know. I’m going to kiss you to death.
Kendall: I’ve missed you, baby boy, more than – more than chocolate. I’ve missed you more than chocolate. Yes. Oh, Oh --
Kendall: Oh, I know, I know, I know, I know. This – not -- not feeling this -- my baby in my arms – I think it’s possible to die from it.
Annie: Hmm. That's motherhood. Oh. Anyway, I thought you two could use some alone time – Rachael took Emma to the casino tree house room. I promised I would meet them over there before Emma wins all of the stuffed ponies.
Zach: Thank you for what you did at Fusion. You probably saved Kendall’s life. It’s lucky you were there.
Ryan: Yeah. I’d feel a lot luckier if you would share.
Ryan: Did you find anything when you were locked in that warehouse, Zach.
Zach: Love letters to my mom. Signed with the initial R.
Zach: This talks about gardenias and the white ribbon being a signal to whoever this person is. I’ll make you copies.
Ryan: I’d appreciate that.
Zach: Ok. As soon as I find out anything more, I’ll let you know.
Ryan: Good. There's more, Zach. I saw it in your eyes at Fusion. And you know what, it’s still there.
Zach: I found a note from the killer. He knew I would come.
Ryan: I want to see it.
Zach: I don’t have it – got destroyed. White piece of paper with letters from a magazine cut out and glued on. It said, “She’s dead.”
Olivia: You in?
Aidan: When the drug hit Dani, she started speaking about the attack. She said that she saw a bird sweep down in on her.
Di: Yeah, but it could’ve just been the drug playing tricks with her memory.
Aidan: Yeah, or maybe it's some kind of clue, then, that we just haven't figured out yet.
Derek: We'll wait for things to settle down, and then we'll check on "Dani."
Jack: Well, here he is.
Derek: Mr. Traub. We've been expecting you.
Mr. Traub: Chief Frye.
Derek: This is Jackson Montgomery, special prosecutor.
Jack: Mr. Traub, my pleasure.
Mr. Traub: Well, now that the tea party’s over, release my client, the artist formerly known as Zarf.
Derek: Two women were murdered, one was attacked. Your client was the last person to see the women alive.
Mr. Traub: Want to do things the hard way? We'll file for a probable-cause hearing.
Jack: Ok, we'll do it that way. We'll see you in court.
Mr. Traub: Waste of everyone's time. You have no evidence.
Derek: My men are all over this. We have new information coming in all the time.
Babe: You'll be out of here in no time – they have no reason to hold you anyway.
Zoe: Ha-ha-ha. Crimes against nature seems to be a popular position.
Babe: Hmm. You’ll forget all about this.
Zoe: This – ah. This is the easy part. Once I’m on the other side of these bars, I’m not real sure I want to find out.
Babe: You’ll be fine. There are people who accept you. Who know who you are deep down inside, and you’ll draw strength – from that, from us. I mean, look, you’ve already done the hardest part – admitting who you are, claiming your place in this world.
Babe: And as harsh as things seem right now, I see a lot of happiness ahead for my girlfriend.
Zoe: I want you to find happiness, too.
Babe: My happiness is with my husband.
Zoe: Maybe it is, but maybe there's --
Babe: No "maybes" about it. I found my destiny. My destiny is J.R.
J.R.: Thank you, Jenkins.
Jenkins: Is there anything else?
J.R.: I'll let you know.
Adam: Well, how did your adventure go? Did you get what you needed?
[J.R. turns on his micro tape recorder]
J.R.’s voice: Sounds like Babe took some big risks.
Zoe’s voice: Babe put herself on the line over and over again. She took chances others would never dream of.
J.R.’s voice: For you?
Adam: Forgive me, but your wife doesn’t have the sense God gave lettuce. That blather proves it.
J.R.: Zoe thinks that her new best friend, Babe, will do anything for her.
Adam: Yeah, let's hope her "new best friend" is a serial killer -- that should get you one step closer to full custody.
J.R.: Yeah but what if this he/she is innocent? It certainly takes the punch out of the case.
Adam: Well, no red-blooded, family-values judge is going to look favorably on a mother who is highly, tightly involved with a deviant.
J.R.: They prefer the term “transgender.”
Adam: Yeah. But a deviant is still a deviant. No way my grandson is going to grow up having tea parties and playing dress up with his mother’s sexually confused friend. Most mothers protect their children from that sort of thing.
Kendall: Looks like he gained ten pounds.
Annie: One and a half.
Kendall: You weighed him?
Kendall: How you doing? Hmm?
Annie: Ahem. “The life and times of Spike Lavery.”
Kendall: He learned to write, did he?
Annie: Well, he’s the star. I’ve kept a journal every day. Last entry about an hour ago. Ahem – “Just fastened Spike in his car seat. He’s excited – must know he’s going to see his mommy.”
Kendall: You did this for me?
Annie: Well, it was kind of a collaboration. Here – my lipstick, Spike’s fingers.
Kendall: I love that! It’s so cute! This --
Kendall: Yeah, I know – this is – this is exactly what I needed. How did you know?
Annie: Well, great moms think alike.
Zach: Kendall almost died tonight. Isn't that enough?
Ryan: I want more. I want all of it, Zach. I want to be on the same page, word for word. It is the only way we will catch this guy.
Zach: What do you want me to say?
Ryan: I want you to say everything. Whatever it takes to nail this bastard, so he won't do to your wife what he did to my sister.
Zach: It's my family, my life, my history. You don't get total access.
Ryan: It's my sister who's dead. It's the mother of my child that's being threatened. I better have full access.
Young Zach: Let me out! Mommy! I want my mommy! Let me out! Let me out! Let me out!
Zach: Nothing more. I sent Tad to the warehouse. Maybe he’ll find something.
Ryan: What aren’t you telling me, Zach?
Zach: I have things to do.
Zach: What? Really? Ok. You have meetings in my office now.
Ryan: I didn’t think you’d mind.
Zach: Ah, you could tell me next time. What do you think?
Zach: Josh. Don’t drink my booze.
[As Zach goes to leave, Josh attacks him with a syringe in the back]
Zach: Oh! Ugh!
[Ryan restrains Zach as he struggles to get away]
Zach: What the hell did you do?
Ryan: Oh, that? Just a little cocktail. You know, help you talk.
Zach: Truth serum?
Josh: Close enough.
Zach: Is that what they teach you in medical school these days?
Josh: Hey, two women are dead. One’s critical. My sisters and Babe could be next. It’s got to stop.
Zach: I told you --
Ryan: You’ve told me nothing. You’re a man of few words and all that. Well, now it’s time to go public with what you do know, Zach.
Zach: Phew. Go to hell.
Kendall: Thank you for taking such great care of him.
Annie: Well, Ryan deserves most of the credit. He know exactly what Spike needs when Spike needs it -- before Spike needs it. In the past few nights he’s been a little fussy. It’s nothing to worry about – it’s gas or something he ate. And Ryan, he just scoops him up and talks to him. Right away you see Spike just relax. The look on Ryan’s face. The amount of love he has for that little boy, it just makes your heart pop out of your chest.
Kendall: Dads and their boys.
Annie: Yeah. Ryan and Spike have entire conversations without actually saying a word. Huh.
Kendall: Annie, um, can I ask you a personal question?
Annie: Yeah, sure.
Kendall: How do you explain it to Emma – the whole “you and Ryan living together” thing.
Annie: Uh, well – we’re not living together. We share an apartment. Big difference.
Kendall: Is there? I mean, to a child or anyone else that wanders in?
Annie: You want to know if Ryan and I are sleeping together?
Kendall: No, no, no, no, I don’t. I just want to know how you explain it to your daughter.
Annie: Well, um, Emma knows that I have my room, and Ryan has his. And for anyone who “wanders in,” it’s pretty clear that Ryan and I aren’t sleeping together. But why, exactly, do you care?
Ryan: Is Zach Slater your real name?
Zach: You know damn well it’s not. And I didn’t bury Greg Madden. Didn’t bleed when he was buried, but I didn’t bury him. I didn’t do it.
Josh: What -- you didn’t what?
Ryan: What is your real name?
Zach: Alexander Cambias, Jr.
Ryan: Who do you think is targeting the women of Fusion.
Zach: I don’t know. Someone who loves my mother very much.
Ryan: Can you be more specific?
Josh: What’d you find in the storage facility?
Zach: Lots of things, Josh. Lots of things. Lots of things from my past.
Josh: Anything related to your mother, the deaths of the Fusion women?
Zach: Possibly. I don’t know. Love letters to my mom and a note to me from the killer.
Josh: What’d it say?
Zach: “She’s dead.” That’s what it said. “She’s dead.” I’m going to get --
Ryan: No, no. You’re staying right here. She’s going to be just fine. Now, what else? What was it that scared you, Zach? What scared you?
Zach: A portrait. Jeez.
Ryan: What portrait? What portrait?
Zach: A picture of my mother. She had a white ribbon and a gardenia, and she – but it wasn’t her face. It was Kendall’s face. It was Ken --
Adam: It’d be easier if this Zarf character were the serial killer. But even if not, we have plenty to work with.
J.R.: With the right judge.
Adam: Yeah, won’t be hard to find. Get a red-blooded, family values type judge. And then we trot out Babe inflicting her gender-bending she-male on her son. Her innocent son. What kind of influence would that have on an innocent young boy?
J.R.: She could influence Little Adam to wear skirts, put on makeup, right?
Adam: Yes, hold on to that. You were right to go to the police station today.
Babe: I think so, too.
Maggie: It’s just so ridiculous. How could Jonathan still freak me out?
Bianca: He abused you, Maggie. Memories like that don’t just go away.
Maggie: I didn’t see it for the longest time. I made excuses and I let it go. I mean, how many times did I get mad at you for trying to set me straight? But you never gave up, and you were the one who helped me see the truth. If it hadn’t been for you, then I --
Bianca: Stop it, Maggie. Just – stop it.
Aidan: Any news?
Derek: Tom called. He, Mimi, and Dani are safe in Maui, with a police escort, doctor, and nurse.
Livia: Thank God.
Jack: That's right, Dani will be doing the hula in no time at all.
Livia: And as soon as we bust this killer, I'm going to be right there with her.
Derek: Thank you for doing this, Livvie. And I can't thank you two enough. This is dangerous work.
Di: Hmm. Well, it'd be more dangerous if that crazy was left out on the streets.
Aidan: So you're cool with this -- all these amateurs in the mix?
Derek: How long you going to hold that remark against me?
Jack: Listen, folks, visiting hours are now officially over. Shall we?
Maggie: What did I say? I --
Bianca: Is that why you're here? Gratitude? Obligation? Repay a debt?
Maggie: No. I -- it has nothing to do with that. How could you --
Bianca: If that's why you're here, you can go, ok? Get on the next plane and just go home.
Maggie: Bianca, I love you. It is not gratitude.
Maggie: You helped me the same way that I helped you. We went through the hardest times together. Is that what you felt for me -- gratitude?
Maggie: Do you remember that first time that we came here and went swimming together? We were best friends. What I've done -- I didn't just throw away my lover. I threw away the best friend I ever had, ever will. I mean, how do you even hang out with Babe? She took your child.
Bianca: Oh, my God --
Maggie: And you're still friends --
Bianca: Ok, that's it. Stop it, ok? You can't use Babe’s mistakes to excuse your own.
Maggie: Is that what I'm doing? Ok, maybe it is.
Babe: I owe you an apology. I was so sure that you went to see Zoe to rip on her, but you just wanted to get to know her.
Adam: "Her"? "Her/him"? Huh. Back in the day, people knew what they were. Excuse me.
Babe: You really don't know how much it means to me. You didn't write Zoe off. You listened to me, and you respected my opinion -- that's huge. Thank you.
J.R.: No, it's no big deal.
Babe: Yeah, it is. You're really trying -- with this, and -- and giving our marriage another chance. And I know that it isn't easy, but if you keep this up, you are going to make me the happiest woman in the world.
[Alone at the boathouse, Bianca remembers a moment from the past]
Maggie and Bianca: One, two, three –
Bianca's voice: Oh, my gosh!
Maggie's voice: Oh, my God, it's freezing!
[Maggie and Bianca squeal]
Babe: It is so good to see you out and about, moving around. And call me crazy, but I am feeling a little bit optimistic, all things considered. Dani is alive, you're better, and our marriage is, too.
J.R.: I'm not going to be making any promises about our marriage. You know, you in Josh Madden's bed -- it's like an image I -- it's almost impossible to get out of my head.
Babe: We're doing it right, J.R. -- one step at a time, nothing but the truth. We're going to be fine. I just know it.
[Babe kisses J.R.]
Babe: Save you one of those for later?
J.R.: And where you going?
Babe: I'm going to go check on Dani -- call the hospital, see if she woke up.
[At the hospital, Aidan watches from Dani’s darkened room as the sleepy guard goes for another cup of coffee and Livia curls up in her niece’s bed under a blanket. Out in the hall, someone dressed in black approaches Danielle’s room carrying a paper bag.]
Annie: You say that you don't care, but it seems like you do. What's that all about? Oh -- hey, doodle. Did you have fun at the casino tree house room?
Emma: I won a pterodactyl.
Annie: Wow! That is great.
Kendall: Oh, my.
Annie: I love it.
Emma: Can Spike please be my baby brother?
Ryan: Now, you couldn't tell me that this maniac painted Kendall into a portrait of your dead mother? You couldn't tell me that? I mean, you had to know that Tad would see that, Zach.
Zach: Yeah, I knew that. I knew Tad would see it. I didn't tell you, because you would tell Kendall -- and it would upset her, and it wouldn't get us any closer to the killer.
Josh: What else aren't you telling us?
Zach: I have to protect her.
Ryan: No, no, Kendall's going to be fine.
Ryan: She's going to be fine, really. Now, here's what I want you to do. I want you to really focus now. What did find in the warehouse that you're not sharing? Focus.
Young Zach's voice: Let me out!
[Pounding on door]
Young Zach's voice: Mommy!
Zach: Can't do it.
Young Zach's voice: I want my mommy! Let me out! Let me out! Let me out!
Ryan: What are you remembering, Zach?
Josh: Did you see someone?
Zach: I want out.
Ryan: No, you can't get out. You're not going anywhere. You're not going out until we're done here. Now, what did you see?
Zach: Oh, God, I want out.
Ryan: What did you see, Zach? What are you seeing right now? Come on, Zach!
Ryan: Come on!
Josh: I think he's shutting down.
Ryan: What are you seeing now? What are you hearing right now?
Zach: I can't do this. I'm --
Ryan: You can, you can do it for Kendall. Do it for Kendall –
Ryan: Zach. She's in danger. My son -- my son could be in danger, too, Zach.
Zach: Your son?
Ryan: Yeah. Help me. Help me protect my son. You care about my child. I know you do.
Zach: I care about both of your children.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
J.R.: I want to apologize to you, Bianca. I messed up, and I want to make it right. I'd like to do something for you.
Kendall (to Annie): You're a liar. You are using a 4-year-old to help you snag a man.
Ryan: Who are both my children, Zach? Spike and who?
