Bianca: Well, we made it -- your first Kane/Montgomery Christmas. Nothing broken, nothing slammed, and Mom didn't even seem to mind being in the same room as Zach.
Bianca: That's truly a Christmas miracle, so let's get some hot chocolate.
Josh: No time, sunshine. We have places to be.
Sean: And when Erica walked through the door, total chick flick moment. Uncle Jack swept her up into his arms.
Colby: Wait, where's the gratitude? The groveling at my feet for getting them back together?
Sean: I’m glad, really I am.
Colby: Well, you could at least smile. Oh.
Colby: No -- poor baby. Are you mad because you lost our bet, huh? Can't deal with being a loser?
Sean: No -- what if Erica calls Jack and thanks him for the primo gifts, and he has no clue? It'll be totally jacked.
Colby: Wait, catch up, Sean. No way Erica and your Uncle Jack are just talking.
[Erica and Jack make love in bed.]
Zarf: True love is true happiness. You're going to enjoy your usual Wednesday night potpie special, think about which rerun you just can't wait to watch tonight. Stop hiding! We can't be afraid of what could be, what should be. We must believe in the great "what if." If we don't, we're lost.
Babe: I believe. Now would you mind coming down from there?
J.R.: Mama went to look after her pet rock star, but she's going to be back real soon to read you one of those books that Santa brought.
Little Adam: Oh.
J.R.: Back home safe.
Krystal: She is safe, J.R. Babe's new best friend, George, has got her back, front, and side. She's going to be just fine.
J.R.: Yeah. Hey.
Little Adam: Hey.
J.R.: What does this one make? What noise does that make?
Little Adam: Who are you?
Julia: The ER is no place for a child at Christmas.
Jamie: Or anytime.
Julia: It was going to be so perfect -- a Christmas reunion with two of the best friends I ever had. This storm and some bad road. Linda was so excited. You're going -- you're going to love her, and Jim.
[Jeff approaches Julia with a grim face.]
Julia: Please tell me that Kathy hasn't lost her mother or father -- or both.
Krystal: Oh-oh, 12-ply cashmere? Well, I think you put Santa to shame. But maybe big daddy-to-be went a wee bit overboard.
Adam: "Overboard"? There's no such thing as "overboard" with a new Chandler, is there?
Krystal: You are too much.
Adam: I am just enough.
Dixie: Tad. Where have you been? I've been so worried.
Tad: I know, I know. I'm sorry, I apologize. I didn't mean to stand you up.
Dixie: Look, I know. Another Christmas, no Kate opening presents, playing with her toys. It never gets any easier.
Tad: Yeah, I'm sure it doesn't. I'm sorry. I really thought we'd be with her. We were so close, and then nothing. And after everything that's happened, what I've done -- pretty bleak. I'd say it's about as bleak as it gets. I spent all night out there trying to run away from it. I couldn’t see my way through to the other side. I didn’t even know if there was one. And the most amazing thing, I mean --
Tad: I don’t know. I can’t explain it. I'll tell you this -- next Christmas and the Christmas after that and the Christmas after that, we are going to be positively surrounded by the sound of little running feet and a little girl's laughter.
Jeff: We lost Jim. His injuries were too extensive. He arrested on the table.
Julia: And Linda?
Jeff: She's stable for the moment. Complex liver laceration.
Jamie: Did you repair it?
Jeff: No, we had to pack it. We'll wait until she's stabilized, then go back in and close the incision. We're doing everything we can.
Jeff: We need to contact the family. Are you close? Do you have any names or numbers?
Julia: No. I know that Linda's parents are dead, but I don't know if she had any brothers or sisters. And, you know, Jim's family's a mystery.
Jamie: I checked their wallets at the crash site. There was no contact info.
Jeff: Well, I hope that little girl has the answer. I sure hope so. She's going to need someone to look after her.
Jack: There were days when I was afraid we'd never get back like this.
Erica: I'm here. I'm just where I want to be. I don't want to be anywhere else.
Jack: God, I love you.
Erica: Don't tell me. Show me.
Sean: Aren't we a little old to be making snowmen?
Colby: It's an ironic statement on the winter clichés.
Sean: Yeah, that's us -- all about biting seasonal commentary. You know, you really -- you really blew me away. Hey, you totally pulled off the whole Erica and Uncle Jack love connection. How'd you know?
Colby: I didn't. It's called covering. I'm a pro -- I do it all the time. L word -- not a clue. My mom ran away with me, and my dad tried to hunt her down like a criminal. Does that sound like love to you?
Sean: You all up in my face like an expert. You're good.
Colby: I rock. Who knew? Love really can work.
Zarf: My kindred spirit, cosmic twin.
Zarf: I'm so glad you came. Can I get you something -- a snack, a drink?
Babe: No, no. Please, I'm fine. Look, you know that I do adore you, but I really need to be getting home, so what's up?
Zarf: Destiny. I'm ready now, Babe. I'm ready to find my destiny.
Babe: Oh, great. That’s – that’s wonderful. I'm glad for you. But, really, my son is waiting. We'll have to talk later.
Zarf: This isn't just my journey. It's ours. Each of us is on a path that requires courage and honesty in order to achieve a genuine happiness, but we can't do it alone. If you have the strength to find your destiny, you’ll give me the strength to find mine.
[Bianca and Josh walk in.]
Zarf: It begins.
Krystal: Well, look who Dixie found on the doorstep.
Adam: Well, I thought we might just get through this holiday without you.
Tad: Beats the lump of coal in your stocking. And you -- did you get everything you want for Christmas?
J.R.: Well, we're working on it.
Tad: That's my boy. And you -- look at you. Looks like somebody really emptied out the North Pole, huh? Ooh.
Krystal: You know, I think the best Christmas gift ever would be for you to find Kate. I mean, I thought I overheard you talking in the foyer about -- never mind. I --
Tad: No, no, it's all right, it's all right. But we're unfortunately no closer, no new leads, but anyway, you did want to talk to me about something, so I’m here. I got all the time in the world.
Dixie: All right. Excuse me.
Tad: Hey, tell you what -- stick around. I'm going to come back and teach you how to use this to break your grandfather's ming vase.
Little Adam: Give me that football.
Adam: Poor bastard. We have so much. I have so much. I have you and Colby and J.R. –
Little Adam: They have the football.
Adam: And a new one on the way. And Tad? He has a child he may never know. Huh.
Julia: Hey, you.
Nurse: Is that going to be Chart 203?
Doctor: Sure, and then I'll check on Mrs. Phillips.
Nurse: Ok, great.
Julia: Oh, this is a big place, isn't it? Really loud. Oh. Honey, I -- I know you're tired and you're -- you're confused, but I need to ask you some questions.
Doctor: Do you need anything else when you get there?
Nurse: I'm going to need the IGA panels.
Jamie: Real easy ones, ok? Promise.
Julia: I have an idea. How about we get some fresh air, huh? We'll take a walk and maybe make a snowball. What do you think?
Girl: You're Mommy's friend.
Julia: Yes, I am.
Zarf: Oh, my light.
Zarf: You are radiant, as usual.
Zarf: Can you sit, talk?
Babe: You know, I really need to get going. I'm expected at home.
Zarf: Ah, the holidays -- so many celebrations.
Bianca: Do you want to get that drink?
Josh: Good idea.
Zarf: If you ignore your feelings, hide from what's fated, lie to yourself, nothing that follows will be right.
Babe: Is that why you invited me here? For my fate, to get me together with Josh?
Zarf: I can't tell you what your fate is.
Babe: Hi. So, was this your idea -- ambush me and then what? Who the hell do you think you are? You are so freaking arrogant and sneaky thinking that you can get with Zarf behind my back and think that you can --
Bianca: Excuse me. Hey, do you want to join me?
Zarf: Lead the way.
Babe: What is it that you're thinking? We are done.
Josh: Oh, so you're going to run away? What, are you afraid your husband will find out you were talking to me, or is it that you're just afraid you won't be able to walk away?
Babe: I'm staying. And I'm going to leave when I'm ready.
Josh: Very confident.
Babe: Mm-hmm. Thank you.
Josh: You want to push it, get some coffee, go crazy -- maybe some dessert?
Babe: Oh. Actually, I just want one answer -- did you and Zarf come up with this not-so-clever little plan just to get me away from my family?
Josh: I didn't plan anything.
Babe: Really? Well, you're here, he's here. I -- oh, my gosh. It's fate, isn't it? Or maybe better yet, a conspiracy?
Josh: No one dragged you here, Babe. You came here on your own. No one forced you to sit, you sat, just like no one forced you to love me. But if you want to pretend you kicked and screamed the whole way, if that's what makes you feel better, go for it.
Jack: What is that –
[Colby laughs and squeals]
Jack: No, no, no, no! Oh! Can we keep the snow outside, you two?
Colby: Oh! Mr. Montgomery, you look like you got exactly what you wanted for Christmas.
Jack: Yes, Colby, there is a Santa Claus.
Erica: Oh, well.
Jack: Watch the snow, honey.
Erica: Yes, good afternoon.
Jack: You look amazing, amazing. Doesn't she look amazing, amazing?
Colby: Awesome. Sean?
Erica: Well, thank you very much, but, I mean, are you looking at me or are you looking at this fantastic, amazing brooch?
Jack: It's very lovely.
Erica: That's it? That's all you have to say?
Sean: What do you crazy kids have planned for the day?
Colby: Hmm -- ice-skating?
Sean: Snowboarding, sledding, sleigh ride around the park? Great day for it.
Jack: Sean? Merry Christmas. Go away.
Colby: Works for me.
Sean: Can I talk to you for a sec?
Colby: No --
Jack: Are you bleeding? Are you sick? Are you wanted by the law?
Sean: No, no, but I --
Erica: Thank you, Sean. And, Jack, I think you ought to thank Sean, too.
Jack: Really? What would I be thanking him for exactly?
Erica: Your nephew is a matchmaker.
Julia: Oh, wow! Look at this handsome fellow, huh?
Jamie: Well, I think he needs some buttons.
Jamie: How about that? There you go.
Julia: She's completely traumatized. I don't know how to reach her and get her to open up.
Jamie: Just do that thing you do. Trust it. Who's up for some hot chocolate? Might be easier just the two of you.
Julia: Hey. How about we -- we bling this boy up, huh? Let's see -- ok. Well, I -- I've got a sweet tooth. I bet he does, too. Let me give him a candy cane. Huh. I'm going to put that there so he can have it later, huh? You like that?
Girl: I think he needs a little more.
Julia: Oh -- oh, "more"? Does he smell good now? You know what? Do you know that I have known your mommy for a really long, long time when you were just a little wish she made on a star?
Tad: I don't know how to describe it. I was simply in a place that was so dark and so deep, I didn't think I would ever find my way back. There was no -- there was no reason to find my way back. I didn't have anything, not even hope. I had no hope I was going to have a future with you, I had no hope I was ever going to meet or get to raise Kate, but I was wrong. I have every reason to hope -- we both do -- because God wants us to find Kate. Now, I know -- look, I know -- I know it sounds crazy, it's nuts, but if you had had the night I had, you'd be saying the same thing.
Dixie: Well, what happened? I mean, you told Krystal that you didn't have any leads.
Tad: Well, I don't -- I mean, at least not any new ones, but I do have this feeling. Actually, it's more than a feeling. It's -- I guess you'd call it faith. Ok -- for starters, I'm out there in the middle of the woods, right? Below the mineshaft, and I meet this, like, wild little priest, white hair. He's got --
Dixie: Father Clarence?
Tad: Yeah. That's right, Father Clarence. He said he knew you.
Dixie: Well, he -- I didn't know him. I just met him. He was at your house. He was looking for you.
Tad: Well, that's terrific. That's -- that's wonderful because if you saw him, too, that means he exists, that means he's real. So my hope is just as real.
Dixie: So he found you?
Tad: Yeah, flat on my butt, in more ways than one. I mean, I was so lost, I didn't even want to look for myself. I mean, I -- I didn't care about tomorrow or the day after the next. It was just like one foot in front of the other was all I could manage, and he -- he proved to me that I was wrong. Hope doesn't have to die. In fact, it never dies. It's always there, right between love and forgiveness. Trick is, you only know that if you have faith, and somehow that -- I got there. I mean, it was like I just woke up and, you know, I was me again, no more lost cause. I even wished on the Christmas star.
Dixie: I did, too.
Tad: It helped us find each other. It'll help us find Kate, too. I mean, she's ok for now. She's being taken care of, but she's waiting for us to find her and when we do, we are going to bring her home. It's going to happen. I know it.
Waiter: And for you, ma'am?
Babe: I'm great, thank you.
Zarf: If her husband is her destiny, so be it. The key is to know where your true happiness lies. People put up so many obstacles, trying to avoid finding it. They want to be safe. People need to know who they truly are, what they feel. If you act on what's on the inside, honor what you truly know about yourself, no matter the -- the difficulties, no matter the obstacles, the criticisms. Then everything will just fall into place. But if you betray your true self, that's sacrilege.
Bianca: Yeah, but everybody has their own journey.
Bianca: I mean, Babe has to find that out on her own.
Zarf: As do you. As do I. We all just need some help.
Bianca: So you're going to help her?
Zarf: Walking the path takes courage. Acts of bravery are rarely done alone. When you came out, you must have had someone -- someone to help you admit who you were truly attracted to.
Bianca: Women. And yes -- I did have help.
Zarf: If Babe has the courage to find her destiny, I should be brave enough to find mine.
Babe: So? How was your Christmas? Did you spend it with Erica, or your father? Maybe both?
Babe: Hmm. That's really nice. Oh, as is the sweater. Look at you.
Josh: Ok. How was Christmas at the mausoleum?
Babe: Fabulous, thank you for asking.
Josh: You're welcome.
Babe: It really was. Whole family was there. We decorated the tree, laughing. Little A hasn't stopped smiling. And the present that J.R. got me -- wow.
Josh: Yeah, I don't give a damn what J.R. gave you. He owes you a hell of a lot more than a gift.
Babe: J.R. is trying.
Josh: Yeah, you're just so grateful he is so into the Christmas spirit, he didn't throw himself or you out of a window. That's the marriage you want? The life that you want?
Babe: Yes. That man, that life. It's exactly what I want.
J.R.: No, I think it's a great idea. Go for it.
Little Adam: It's mine!
Adam: Ok. All in favor?
Krystal: Well, aren't you just full of surprises? Well, if you'll excuse me, I promised my grandson here some quality time with the Christmas tree, right?
J.R.: Go see the Christmas tree.
Krystal: Come on, let's go see the tree. Let's go.
Little Adam: This is what I want.
Adam: It's Babe, isn't it? You're wondering where she is.
J.R.: I hate being stuck in this bed. I can't go anywhere, I can't do anything. And you know Babe. She likes to take chances. Only hope that she doesn't and stays safe from that psycho killer.
Adam: And far away from Josh.
J.R.: I want to trust Babe.
Adam: Well, that's what nanny-cams are for.
J.R.: I don't like it. I don't like telling Colby to keep that camera running. But I have to be sure about Babe.
Erica: You and I back together?
Erica: Uh -- Sean was your biggest booster. And as a matter of fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it wasn't Sean who was behind all these wonderful presents that Jack sent.
Colby: Sean? Playing matchmaker, huh? Wait, where's your bow and arrow?
Colby: Wait, tell me you got a picture.
Sean: Leave it alone.
Jack: No, no, no, no. I think -- I think I'd like to hear this.
Colby: Oh, Mr. Romantic, huh? Who knew you were a hearts-and-flowers kind of guy?
Sean: So why are you even still here? Crazy in love. Ok, why don't you, you know, go out and grab some daylight? Get some alone time? Here you go. That's what we plan to do.
Sean: You might need some backup. The woman's crazy for those honey-roasted peanuts in the park.
Jack: You just gave money back to me.
Sean: Mm-hmm. Enjoy it. It won't happen again. Huh.
Sean: Go -- there's your muffs.
Erica: Thank you.
Sean: There you go. Yeah. You guys have fun.
Sean: Great day outside. Yeah. Bye. This is so blowing up any second.
Jamie: Wow. Your Picasso phase?
Julia: It's the coolest snowman in town, isn't he? Yeah. You know, your mommy's really cool, too. She could always make me laugh because she had the best jokes. Does she make her friends laugh, too?
Girl: Kayla and Max.
Julia: Oh. Are those her friends, or an aunt and uncle, or cousins?
Girl: My friends, at school. They make me laugh.
Jamie: Hey, my Uncle Jeff makes me laugh. I have an Uncle Jake, too, and an Aunt Tara. Do you have any aunts or uncles?
Girl: I have an aunt.
Julia: You do? What's her name?
Girl: Aunt Julia. Mommy says that you're my aunt.
Julia: Oh, hey, your mommy's waking up.
Girl: I want to see her!
Julia: Yeah, let's -- I know she's going to be excited to see you. Let's -- let's go.
Dixie: You know, it can wait.
Tad: What do you mean, it can wait? Huh. You left frantic messages for me all over town. And now it's no big deal?
Dixie: Well, it's just that the timing's a little off. You're really back, aren't you?
Tad: Feels like it. Tad's home. All the lights are on.
Dixie: May they never go out. Maybe they even get brighter.
Adam: Oh. Good, good, you're still here. Would you join us in the parlor? There's something that we have to discuss. It's important. It's about the baby.
Adam: I've been giving this a good deal of thought, and it hasn't come easily. I'm sure you'll see why. It's a big decision. One that involves all of us with consequences, implications reaching far into the future. I am grateful that you've given J.R. your comfort and support. It proves that we can come together as a family. Something I thought impossible not too long ago.
J.R.: Hey, Dad, you're losing them.
Adam: Oh, hush up. You two have had a very difficult year, suffered a great loss. And that's why I hope you can see your way clear to accept this in the spirit in which it's given. We -- want you, Tad, and you, Dixie, to be Charlotte's godparents.
Adam: What? I thought I was doing the right thing here, for all of us, for our -- our daughter, for you. Well, if you don't want to, then just say so.
J.R.: Well, someone say "Yes" before Dad snaps out of it?
Tad: Well -- yes. I mean, absolutely. I -- I would be honored. Honored to be charlotte's godfather. Thank you.
Dixie: Yes. I'd love to.
Adam: It means a great deal to all of us.
Tad: You do realize, don't you, I'm going to spoil the hell out of that kid?
Krystal: I wouldn't have it any other way.
Tad: Um -- do you -- may I -- do you mind? Just for a sec?
[Tad gently places his hand on Krystal’s belly.]
Adam: Why does everyone think they have free license to a pregnant woman's stomach?
Tad: Welcome to the family, little one.
Sean: Ok, so you scored --
Sean: With Uncle Jack and Erica. What's up with your other gig, huh? Get the proof your brother can't trust Babe?
Colby: Hmm, total zip.
Sean: Ah, losing your touch.
Colby: No, I'm just saving my brother from getting his heart broken again. No way am I going to let anyone ever hurt my big brother again.
Sean: Oh. You're small, but scary.
Colby: Hey, I made Erica Kane change her mind about her marriage, and she's as small but scary as you can get. Hmm.
Jack: Oh, look at this.
Erica: Oh. Did you know this was here?
Erica: Oh, look at this! What? What is it?
Jack: This. It's perfect. You and me, here, now. But I know we have a lot of things to talk about. Where to start, what to say? How to say it? I love you, so much. I want so badly for this to work out. I want you to be happy. I want to be. Erica? Hello?
Erica: Oh. What were you saying?
Jack: I have no idea.
[Jack kisses Erica]
Jack: Oh, you're cold. Hey, that's -- that's no good.
Jack: So, the glove. No, give me the glove. All right, get them on, real quick. Here you go. Ok? Oh.
Jack: Can't get it over that big rock I got you, huh? Give me that other glove.
Erica: I know! Big rock.
Jack: Here we go.
Erica: What would I do without you?
Jack: Oh, let's not even find out, shall we? Better?
Erica: Much better.
Jack: I'm going to take you home. I'm going to make you a hot turkey sandwich with Lily’s scalloped potatoes and gravy. How does that sound?
Erica: Mmm. And then straight to bed.
Jack: Yes. Well, right after the Christmas concert. What is it?
Erica: Did you say "Christmas concert"? You mean, Handel's "Messiah"?
Jack: Handel's "Messiah," yeah. It wouldn't be Christmas without it, would it? You don't want to go?
Erica: Uh -- well, actually -- um -- I was already invited. Jeff asked me to go. Look, I -- I know how you feel about Jeff. So -- I mean, if you just want to talk about it, get it out there --
Jack: No, no. No, what I want to do is spend the holidays with my wife. I want to kiss you under every piece of mistletoe that's still hanging. I want to walk around here. I want to get cold with you and then warm you up again. I know we have a lot to talk about. But not right now. Not right now.
Colby: Come on, give it up!
Sean: You're going down.
Colby: Ugh. Ha! Sweet! Ooh!
Sean: Ok, New Year's Eve -- I owe you major party time.
Colby: I already know what I want.
Sean: I'm surprised.
Colby: Well, all you have to do is show up.
Colby: Sean, have I ever been boring?
Sean: No, you just have it so planned out. You can take any warm body. You don't need mine.
Colby: Well, your body is exactly the point. Well, every time you look at me, every time you talk to me, you'll see the woman who pulled off the impossible.
Sean: Your party, your rules. Yeah, two people back in love, but you get the real prize.
Colby: Hmm. I don't know. I think your Uncle Jack and Erica scored pretty big.
Sean: Well, yeah. If you're into that kind of thing. But the good news about love -- you don't fall in, you can't fall out.
Josh: Admit it. What we feel for each other won't go away just because you pretend it doesn't exist.
Babe: I won't do this.
Josh: Babe, come on.
George: Let the lady go.
Josh: George, get out of my way.
George: She doesn't seem to want your company.
Bianca: I should probably be getting home.
Zarf: To the miraculous Miranda.
Bianca: Yes -- you know, she's usually pretty shy around strangers, but with you --
Zarf: We speak the same language.
Bianca: I guess. She knew what you wanted for Christmas. Did you get it?
Zarf: Not yet. But perhaps by the New Year, if you ring it in with me.
Bianca: Yeah, sure. I'd like that.
Zarf: So be it.
Bianca: Are you ok?
Zarf: Destiny is relentless. If you don't find it, it has no choice but to find you.
Josh: Why aren't you with Babe?
George: I lost her.
Julia: You wait right here with Jamie, ok? And I'll be right back. Why isn't Linda in the ICU?
Jeff: Beds are full.
Julia: How is she?
Jeff: 50/50. We’re going to have to wait until she's stabilized before we can operate.
Julia: I can see her?
Jeff: Keep it brief.
Julia: Thank you for everything. Long time no see. How are you feeling?
Julia: Oh, she’s fine. She’s perfect. You're both going to be just fine.
Jamie: Oh, you're so strong. Oh. Oh. Ah, ah! Oh, oh, you got me! You got me! Oh. All right, how about two out of three? Huh?
Tad: Who is this?
Jamie: Oh, hey. You're just in time for the championship round.
Tad: Yeah? You always were a wimp.
Tad: Hey, beautiful. Whose little girl are you?
Dixie: The chances of finding Kate now are so slim. Tad has such faith, but -- I would give anything if he could be a father to this daughter.
Krystal: Dixie --
Dixie: But I meant what I said before. It's your secret -- to tell or not. I promise you, I will keep my word. And I will never tell Tad or anyone that this is his daughter.
J.R.: You know what we're going to do? We're going to build a castle to show your mom when she gets home. How does that sound? You want to build a --
Little Adam: With sand?
J.R.: With sand and everything. Big castle with princes and --
Little Adam: With a prince?
J.R.: Yes. Does that sound like fun?
[In the parking garage, Babe spills the contents of her purse. While bending down to retrieve them, she anxiously looks in the direction of approaching footsteps.]
>> On the next “All My Children –
Josh (to Kendall): I have the DNA test results and the answers to Emma McDermott’s family tree.
Zarf (to J.R.): Do you think Babe really belongs with you? I know what she needs, what she wants.
Babe: George, is that you?
[Hearing noises, Babe takes cover behind a cinderblock wall, wielding a pipe, ready to pounce on her stalker.]
