Kendall: You bought this house?
Zach: Yeah, for us.
Kendall: Sell it.
[Josh uses the secret tunnels to sneak into Babeís bedroom at Chandler Mansion holding a large brown envelope.]
Babe: Let's go grab a latte and chat, ok?
Zarf: Who is this magnificent creature?
Bianca: Who am I? Who are you?
[Zarf kneels down in front of Bianca and kisses her hand.]
Zarf: The one sent to worship you.
J.R.: It's ok. Oh, it'll pass.
Jamie: Tell me what I can get you -- water, ice?
Jamie: A towel to chew on?
Julia: He can't go on like this. He needs something to ease the pain.
J.R.: No, no! No. Oh! God!
Adam: My God. What have you done to my son?
Jamie: We haven't done anything to him.
Julia: J.R.ís been taken off of all pain medication.
Adam: That quack Jeff Martin -- he wants my son to suffer, because his son can't have my son's wife.
Jamie: Back off, Adam. You're wrong.
Adam: You, young lady -- this is the last shift you're going to work in this hospital unless you get me a vat of morphine STAT. All right, it's all right, son. It's all right, son. I'll give you what you want.
J.R.: No, no. What -- what I -- what I want is you out. Get out.
Krystal: Well, I guess you don't need the grand tour.
Dixie: No, I know my way around pretty well.
Krystal: Listen, before you get settled in here, I just want to make sure that everything is settled between us.
Dixie: Oh. You don't want me mentioning over breakfast that David said you're carrying Tadís baby?
Krystal: Because it's a lie. Now, I'm not counting on having any slumber parties while you're shacking up here, but I am counting on you to respect my marriage, which means nobody mentions the name David Hayward under this roof ever again.
Tad: David Hayward. I tracked him down. I know everything.
Krystal: You have something on David?
Dixie: You said you wouldn't go after him.
Tad: I didnít. I said I tracked him down. I traced his route out of town.
Dixie: Do you know where he is?
Tad: Absolutely. A source of Aidanís at the airport confirmed that he boarded three separate planes with one-way tickets. We know his final destination. When he said he was gone, he really meant it. I just thought you should know.
Krystal: Well, if I didn't have a bun in the oven, I'd be doing backflips.
Tad: Well, the amazing thing is it looks like Dr. Evil was trying to make himself over as Dr. Not-so-bad. All the time, he intended to volunteer at this clinic in Southeast Asia where they're desperate for medical personnel. He might actually do something worthwhile for a change.
Dixie: Well, speaking of medical personnel, I think I'm going to call the hospital and see if they've got any information about when J.R.ís going to be discharged.
Krystal: Well, why don't we go upstairs? I'll take you up there.
Tad: You know, there is one more thing. On that DVD that David made, he said that you had some kind of ammunition that was going to throw you and Babe out of this house. What did he mean by that?
Zach: Sell it? Why would I sell it? I just bought the place.
Kendall: "We can't live here." That's exactly what you said when you first saw this place. You said it reminds you of the house that you grew up in as a child, and it brings back painful memories of your father. You don't have to do this. You don't have to -- to live here to prove that you love me. I know you love me.
Zach: Don't get me wrong, but I don't have to prove anything.
Kendall: Then why'd you buy the house?
Zach: I ran into Babe here --
Kendall: Oh, great.
Zach: And I --
Kendall: And what did that little flooze say?
Kendall: No one can stand listening to Babeís yammering anymore, so, what -- did she spill her stupid ideas on you? She's a lying, manipulating idiot, especially when it comes to men.
Babe: Coffee's on me, ok? Let's go.
Zarf: Have we met before?
Bianca: Um -- I don't think so, although you do look very familiar.
Erin: Actually, maybe he sounds familiar. Um -- "Destination Hell," "Rock the Brimstone."
Danielle: And my personal fave, "Ladies from Hades." Yep, you're standing face to face with Mr. Quadruple Platinum, sold-out arena himself -- Zarf.
Bianca: Oh, of course -- Zarf. I -- I know you. You were in Paris a couple of months ago on tour, and I saw your posters absolutely everywhere. But I didn't see the concert. I -- I've never really been a fan of music about the underworld.
Erin: Oh, well, sorry. What -- what she means is she's not intimately familiar with your sound.
Danielle: Yes, but she's more than excited that you'll be working with us.
Zarf: I knew you'd be honest. In a world full of sycophants and phonies, you are the very essence of truth. Every word from your mouth is like manna from heaven. We must've met in a past life.
Bianca: Yeah, maybe. You know, talking to you has been interesting. Um -- but I'm -- I'm here to talk to Babe about something very, very important in private.
Babe: Yes -- no, no, business, business. We have some urgent cosmetic industry business.
Zarf: This is coming together beautifully. The woman who reached into my soul has brought me to the woman who has my heart. Best friends.
Simone: Hold on there. No offense there, psychic friend, but, you know, there's static jamming your telepathic lines. See, Babe and Bianca -- not BFFs.
Zarf: Bianca. Che nome bellissimo. It means "white." It's perfect. You're pure light, an angel.
Bianca: Get me out of here.
Babe: Follow my lead. How about you tell Zarf what day you were born.
Bianca: February 9.
Zarf: Do you have any idea how compatible we are?
Zarf: I have to do your chart right now.
Zarf: I need the exact time and place of your birth. Exploring the planets --
Danielle: I'll explore any position you like.
Zarf: She's gone. I will see this Bianca again, many times. It's meant to be.
[Babe and Bianca laugh as they sneak up to the rooftop terrace.]
Bianca: My God!
Babe: No --
Bianca: What was that?
Babe: No, no, no. I am so sorry. We're using one of Zarfís songs for the teen campaign, but there was no way the deal included him coming to me with his personal crisis.
Bianca: Well, I won't ask what his deal did include.
Babe: Yes, but how does he think that I can handle his problems when I can't even begin to handle my own? And since we're no longer in the presence of rock royalty, you can let me have it.
Bianca: Why would I do that?
Babe: Isn't that why you're here? To yell at me for what I did to your brother, like everyone else has, even though I've said it a million times -- it's over with Josh, I'm staying with my husband. No one believes me.
Bianca: Well, should we believe you?
[Josh removes a scrapbook from the brown envelope and slides it under Babeís pillows then touches her robe and recalls happier days.]
Babe's voice: I feel like dancing.
Josh's voice: No.
Babe's voice: Yes.
Josh's voice: No --
Babeís voice: Oh, yes, yes.
Josh's voice: No --
Babe: Dancing --
Josh: No, Babe --
Babe: We're going to dance.
Josh: You've already tried -- oh, jeez!
Josh: Babe, you need to slow that thing up.
Babe: Ok, ok, ok, ok. Ok.
Adam: I will not allow Martin to torture my son like this, no.
Jamie: Well, this is his decision. He doesn't want you interfering, so shut up and leave.
Julia: Would you please keep your voices down?
Adam: He can hardly speak, let alone think straight.
J.R.: This -- it's my -- it's my choice, Dad! It's my choice.
Adam: It's medieval!
Adam: I'm going to find someone who will help.
Jamie: Adam. Don't you get why he's doing this? J.R. is an addict. He's finally accepted that. He's realized that he's always used drugs or alcohol to mask his pain, and he doesn't want to do it anymore.
Adam: How can you stand seeing him like that? You think it's the payback he deserves, don't you?
Jamie: No, I hate what J.R. is going through, but what he's doing takes real strength, real courage, and I will stand by him. Don't mess this up, Adam.
Adam: I can't bear to watch my son suffer.
Julia: I think I know how I could ease his pain. Trust me.
Dixie: David is pretty good with all of his tricks and riddles. There's always only one thing missing -- that's the truth.
Tad: Well, he said you knew what he meant --
Dixie: Well --
Tad: That you were the one that could set things in motion.
Dixie: He knows that I've hidden things from you before. He's probably just playing on that.
Tad: Hmm. Well, I guess he just giving us all the collective finger one last time, huh?
Dixie: Yeah. So we should ignore it. Right?
Tad: I'll get out of your hair.
Krystal: Bye, Tad.
Krystal: Tad is much better off not knowing what David was trying to pull before he left here.
Dixie: Yeah, ok. I'm going to unpack.
Krystal: Oh, I'll get Winnie to help you. I have to meet Adam at the hospital for a checkup.
Dixie: Krystal? Take care of that baby.
Krystal: Come on.
J.R.: No -- no drugs.
Julia: No, what I'm talking about is one of the -- one of the oldest medical procedures in the world. It's safe, it's painless, and it involves absolutely no drugs -- acupuncture.
J.R.: You stick me with needles? Forget -- forget it.
Jamie: You're licensed? Since when?
Julia: Witness Protection. I didn't just have to change my identity, I had to find new careers. I tried retail, restaurants, even drove a cab, but I was always looking for something that was like what I loved about nursing, so the last year in the program I discovered acupuncture. I have my equipment right here in the hospital, and I can just talk to Joe, and we could get started immediately.
J.R.: Oh. Go work your voodoo on someone else.
Jamie: Why do you always do this? Why do you shoot down people who try to help you? Is it just your stupid Chandler pride or is it some martyr thing to make Babe feel like crud?
Babe: Jamie told me at J.R. and I are going to keep hurting each other forever.
Bianca: Well, do you think that's true?
Babe: At first, I thought it might be. But I just got back from this house that J.R. and I were going to buy -- our dream home. I was there to kiss our dreams good-bye, but I just couldn't do it because I -- I believe in our love, and I think that we can make our marriage work and -- and move past this. Jamie's wrong. J.R. and I can be happy together again, can't we?
Bianca: You want my advice? I think that you should join a convent and J.R. should join a traveling circus. Does that help?
[Fondling Babeís robe, Josh sits in her bedroom and imagines himself on Fusionís rooftop.]
Babe: We need to leave -- now.
Josh: So you can go back to J.R.?
Babe: I'm never going back to J.R. I love you, and I belong with you, and I know that now with all my heart. We are going to have the best life together -- you and me and Little A. And it's just the beginning for us -- just us.
Zach: Babe, for all her faults, is trying to find the way not to let the past get in the way of the future.
Kendall: Yeah, well, she should be more concerned about not letting sex with my brother get in the way of her marriage.
Zach: Yeah. I turned this house down once, because of my past and now, I bought it because of my past.
Kendall: How does that make any sense?
Zach: When I was 18, I faked my own death just to punish my father. And since that day, everything I've done, everything that's defined me was because I wanted to destroy every dream that my dad had for me. But that's the past now because Alexander Cambias is gone and -- and that's it and this is the future, our future -- yours, mine -- with this house. And I'm not going to let the past get in the way ever again.
[Knock on door]
Tad: Hey, long time no see. Where's Krystal?
Tad: Good. I want a moment alone with you.
Tad: I stand a better chance of getting the straight story.
Tad: David Hayward said something to you. I'm not leaving until I find out what it is.
Zarf: Agh! Either of you lovelies know where Bianca went?
Danielle: "Love the one you're with" is what I always say.
Zarf: And I say --
Zarf: Two's company, three's a party.
[Erin and Danielle giggle]
Erin: Oh. Can I ask you about your new single, "Transcendence"?
Danielle: Oh, I'm obsessed with that song.
Erin: Me, too. I love it, but I -- it is kind of a departure for you.
Zarf: A truer expression of self.
Danielle: Oh. Don't box me in don't set me straight
Erin: Oh, I can be free it's not too late
Both: Denying me identity
Erin: Holla. I love it.
Simone: Don't want to bust up your groupie gab fest here, but since Zarf is done using our office to display his goods, why don't you all hop to it so we can get some work done?
Erin: Don't mind Miss Crabcakes over there.
Danielle: She's been rude and in a mood all day.
Simone: I can hear you. You know, this place is not a hotel suite that you can trash and leave for maid service. Get the lead out, Zeppelin wannabe.
Zarf: I'd get a feng shui master in here as soon as possible. My guy's the best. I'll call you from the limo.
Erin: Ooh, uh, you know, Bianca is part owner of Fusion through Cambias, and I bet she would be so happy if it was the way that it was before you came when she got back.
Zarf: For Bianca, anything.
Erin: Man. Talk about head over heels, right?
Danielle: Yeah, he's got it bad for her.
Simone: Yeah, and that's not good, because what happens when Zarf finds out that the love of his life is gay?
Bianca: I am so sick of everybody looking to me for answers. When did I become a magic eight ball? My life is a mess and I came back home to try to work things out, not to be the oracle of Pine Valley.
Babe: Ok, wait -- your life is a mess? Since when?
Bianca: No, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Let's just focus on what's really going on between you and J.R. and Josh. Josh is my brother, and I would like to try to get to know him better, but every time I try, it always comes back to you, so I figure why not just go to the source?
Babe: Josh is a great guy.
Bianca: Babe, cut the crud. You slept with him, he fell in love with you, and then you dumped him.
Babe: Because I love my husband.
Bianca: That doesn't make any sense to me. How could you love J.R. and sleep with Josh?
J.R.: Just stay away from me. I'm -- I'm not a pin cushion.
Jamie: When you do this -- act like a stubborn ass and refuse help -- you're not the only one who suffers. I mean, do you think it's easy for your family to watch you in pain -- Dixie, Tad, Adam, anybody who loves you? If Little Adam was old enough to understand what was going on, he wouldn't want to see his dad like this. Julia's offering you a damn good option. Say yes.
J.R.: Do it. Just do it.
Babe: It's done. I chose J.R., and I'm sorry, but I don't want to hear why you think that is the wrong choice.
Bianca: I'm not making a plea for Josh.
Babe: But you do think that I should've picked him?
Bianca: I'm not going to tell you what to do. I -- I care about Josh a lot. But I -- I also know that J.R. is hurting.
Babe: Because I cheated on him?
Bianca: I'm really just trying to understand this. How can you be in love with one person and hook up with somebody else?
[Krystal walks into Babeís bedroom and closes the door.]
Krystal: Who are you trying to get killed -- yourself or my daughter?
Babe: It's killing me that Josh is hurting.
Bianca: Josh told me that you said you loved him. How could you say that if you didn't mean it?
Babe: I did mean it. Even though the night that I spent with Josh has caused so much pain, it was incredible. It was crazy and confusing, and I can't even begin to understand it myself. But I told Josh that I loved him, because I meant it.
Bianca: "Meant"? Past tense? Or do you still love Josh? Yes or no?
Bianca: Well, what happens when J.R. comes home from the hospital?
Babe: I don't know.
Bianca: Will your feelings for Josh just, like, disappear?
Babe: Bianca, I can't --
Bianca: When your husband comes home, and you guys try to start over as a couple -- living together, raising your son together -- what happens to your love for Josh?
Babe: I don't know.
Josh: So, you going to let me have it? Why don't you call the cops? Or better yet, why don't you get your husband to tear my head off? What are you waiting for?
Krystal: Why are you here?
Josh: I brought something for Babe
Krystal: What is it?
Josh: Why don't you see for yourself?
[Krystal leafs through a scrapbook with pictures of Little Adam.]
Krystal: You made this for Babe? And you risked life and limb to make a special delivery?
Josh: I don't care what happens to me. All that matters is that when Babe goes to sleep at night, that instead of thinking that the world is against her, she'll know she has someone on her side, someone who will never stop trying to make her happy. Someone who will always love her, no matter what.
Babe: No matter what anyone says, I never meant for there to be a me and Josh.
Bianca: And yet, somehow --
Babe: Before Josh and I got together, I was working so hard to be the best at everything -- marriage and motherhood and work. And I -- I wanted the full schedule, I wanted the challenge, but I also wanted someone by my side. My partner, to help me. And J.R. was supposed to be that person, but he -- he wasnít. Or he couldnít. I --
Bianca: Well, you know, he had a lot going on. I mean, first his mother came back into his life, and then the next thing he knew, she was on trial for murder.
Babe: And I tried to help him. I begged J.R. to let me in, to let me help him. But he just kept shutting me out. When the person you love keeps pushing you away, and they don't need you at all, it's the loneliest place in the world.
Bianca: So, you turned to Josh, because you were angry with J.R.?
Babe: No. No, I -- I turned to Josh, because I was done being frozen out and all alone. For once, I chose myself. What I wanted, what I deserved. And Josh never -- he never pushed himself on me. But he was always there, making damn sure that I knew that he loved me and wanted to be with me.
Bianca: And eventually, you decided that you wanted to be with him, too.
Babe: The whole floodgates opened. Suddenly, I was filled with -- with all these feelings for Josh. How do you love someone that you don't want to love?
Bianca: Hmm, easy. Part of me still loves you.
J.R.: If she kills me, I blame you.
Julia: Hmm. Joe gave me the green light. Are you ready?
J.R.: Just get it over with.
Julia: Well, the first thing that I'm going to do is swab each of the insertion points with rubbing alcohol. And then, I will use these. They're sterilized, disposable stainless steel needles. They're about two inches long, but they're as fine as a strand of hair.
J.R.: Oh, great. More pain.
Julia: No. It's not going to hurt, and you're probably going to be so relaxed, you might even fall asleep.
J.R.: I wouldn't count on it.
Jamie: I'm going to be right outside. You're one lucky SOB. Go with it.
Julia: Well, what I used to suggest to all of my clients before their first treatment was that they try and think of something soothing like a favorite memory. The needles don't hurt, but Jamieís right. You're going to have a much better chance of success if you work with me. Ok? So just try to imagine a time when you were really happy.
[J.R. remembers his vacation to France with Babe.]
Babe's voice: This is unreal -- a villa all to ourselves, food so good, I can't even pronounce it, and the man of my dreams speaking French to me in France.
Dixie: David's DVD was just his sick way of getting us all worked up over nothing.
Tad: Nothing? That's what had you so freaked out when I found the two of you together in that parking garage? Nothing?
Dixie: I was upset because J.R. was fighting for his life.
Tad: No. No, it wasn't upset or sadness written all over your face, it was shell shock. And I asked you what he had done, if he said something, and you dodged the question.
Dixie: And I believe that I said I just wanted this all to be done with.
Tad: No, what you said was, I'm fine. Which was clearly a lie. I could see it in your eyes.
Dixie: My eyes?
Tad: Yeah. The two gorgeous orbs on either side of your nose. And it's still there.
Dixie: Tad, hasn't David caused you enough pain already? Haven't I? I will not do anything -- I will not cause you any more pain than I already have.
Tad: Whoa. This must really be a doozy.
Dixie: It was a lie.
Tad: Well, why don't you let me decide that? Tell me what it is.
Bianca: I understand why Josh still loves you, even after you hurt him.
Babe: But you can't still love me. Not after all my mistakes. I --
Bianca: And after everything that I suffered. All because of you. But you're full of regret. And it's real. You make the wrong choices, Babe. But you do -- you do it for the right reasons. And you do things that are completely reprehensible. But you act from the heart. And you have a good heart. That's why you make it so hard to hate you.
Babe: I'll never forgive myself for what I did, taking Miranda --
Bianca: Ok, let's just -- let's just focus on Josh and J.R., ok?
Bianca: You can't let this go on anymore. You can't drag it out. You have to choose one and let the other one go. Who do you love more?
Babe: Um -- I've been with J.R. for years. We're married, and we have a son. I was with Josh for one night.
Bianca: A night you can't forget.
Babe: And it over, it's done and -- and I told Josh why it has to be this way. But he just -- he won't accept it.
Bianca: Because you keep encouraging him.
Babe: No, I don't.
Bianca: Babe, as long as you love Josh, you're encouraging him. And then you and J.R. donít stand a chance in hell.
Kendall: All the bad memories about this house -- you can just let them go and live with it?
Zach: Yeah, no, they're already gone, because I needed room for all the new ones I'm going to make with you.
Zach: See, here's what I was thinking. See, the pond's almost frozen. We got to get some skates for young Spike.
Kendall: Yeah, skates -- ok, he can't even walk.
Zach: Whatever. He's going to sit with me in the Zamboni. So this is the grandstand, ok? Stadium seating right by the pond over there. And maybe -- I don't know -- good-sized scoreboard.
Kendall: Ok. Where does my hot tub go?
Zach: You know where it goes. It's going to be in the locker room.
Kendall: Oh. Ok, so our house is going to be a hockey training camp?
Zach: Yeah. Yeah, Spike will go Youth League and go through the Minors, and then, you know, he'll be in Detroit before he's 21. We'll just teach him whatever we have to teach him --
Kendall: We? What -- what can I teach Spike that he can use on the ice?
Zach: Ah, come on, I mean, trash talk. The kid's got to learn. He's got to learn from the best.
Kendall: That's true, you got a point there.
Zach: Team Slater.
Kendall: I like the sound of that.
Zach: Oh, there -- there is one thing, one condition. And if you say no to that, we're not closing on the house.
Kendall: Ok, what is it?
Zach: I'm serious. Don't laugh at me right now.
Kendall: I -- I wonít. Tell me. I want to know.
Zach I need two very large recliners. Red and white. So we can watch TV and watch all the games on a very big-screen TV. You say no to that, no deal. Make-or-break time.
Kendall: I don't know, man. Hmm. Deal.
Zach: Welcome home. Come here.
Tad: I know Hayward is a world-class liar. We both know he's deranged. But that's all the more reason that I should know what he said.
Dixie: Tad, he's hurt you enough.
Tad: The only thing that has ever hurt me is you not giving me the truth. Now, it's a fact. I mean, we both kept secrets, terrible secrets, and look what it got us. It tore us apart, it destroyed our lives, it almost ruined our children. We can strike off in a new direction right now. The truth, Dixie. The truth is all we need. The truth is the only thing that's going to get us through this.
Krystal: Where'd you get these pictures?
Josh: Babe's computer at work. She always talked about putting together an album, but she never got around to it, so --
Krystal: Ok, that's enough, all right? I -- I can't take another second of you being so damn wonderful. I get it, ok? You really do love Babe. And God help me, I get that Babe loves you.
Josh: She told you that?
Krystal: She didn't have to.
Josh: Well, you see it. I see it. Babe and I love each other, Krystal. She'll listen to you. You got to tell her to get out of this house and away from J.R. I swear to you, I can make your daughter happy, but I need your help.
Krystal: I can't tell Babe --
Josh: If you can only convince her --
Krystal: To do anything that she doesn't want to do.
Josh: So you want her to spend the rest of her life with J.R.?
Krystal: I'm not crazy about that idea, either. But with J.R. laid up, Babeís just not budging.
Josh: You know, if I had known J.R. was going to drink himself into the ICU, I would have tracked him down before he got anywhere near a window and let him pound me. But instead, he does a face plant, and now Babeís sucked in even deeper. But I'm not giving up.
Krystal: What are you going to do?
Josh: Well, exactly what I have been doing. Just let her know she has a choice, that she doesn't have to stay with J.R. out of guilt. That she -- she doesn't owe him a damn thing. And that when she is ready for the life that she deserves, that I'll be here ready to give it to her.
Babe: Mama, could you please leave us alone?
Kendall: Lots of rooms, lots of childproofing. I don't even have to tell you why this would be a nightmare.
Zach: When -- when can I order my recliners?
Kendall: How about we close on the house first?
Zach: Sure. I'll get back to the office and call the lawyers.
Kendall: Ok. Ok. See you soon, house. I'll be back. And we can start making our happy new memories.
[Before leaving, Zach looks back at the balcony and sees the image of a beautiful smiling young girl holding a white flower.]
Zarf: I am so happy I found you.
Bianca: Oh -- oh, listen, Zarf, I -- your kind words and your attention -- I'm -- I'm flattered, I really am --
Zarf: I came on too strong. I apologize. But I couldn't help it. The moment I saw you, it was like being struck by lightning. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Bianca: Um -- I don't -- yes, I -- I guess it's possible.
Zarf: I know it's possible. Because -- I'm falling in love with you.
[Zarf takes Biancaís face in his hands and kisses her.]
Babe: I was just with Bianca. She helped me see things more clearly.
Josh: What things?
Babe: I've made a decision about my future.
Jamie: How do you feel?
J.R.: Better. Much better. I mean -- I mean, there's still some pain. But -- I don't know how it works, but it works. Thank you.
Julia: No problem. Just try to get some rest.
Jamie: You're amazing.
[Through the window, Adam is happy to see his son resting comfortably.]
Tad: Please, Dixie.
Dixie: David told me the child Krystal is carrying is yours.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Zarf (to Bianca): Just give me one night to show you what I can offer and no one else can give.
Dixie (to Tad): You slept with Krystal. Look at a calendar, do the math.
Kendall (to Zach, holding a picture of Ryan, Emma, Annie, and Spike with Santa): What is wrong with this picture?
Babe (to Josh): I do love you.
