Jonathan: "A hotel with two little lions. It's -- it's where the square root of 49 meets the hypotenuse of a 30/40 right triangle"? Lily, I'm not good at math like you are. And I don't see two little lions. I need your help, Lily. Please, I need your help. I can't find you. I can't find you, Lily.

Lily: My head still feels fuzzy. It's a side effect from the alcohol. I don't want to do anything right now but sleep.

Man: That's a good idea.

Lily: So, I told you I can't sleep in the same room with anyone.

Man: Yeah, I'm surprised you've never shared a bed before, Lily. It can be a great feeling -- warm, comforting.

Lily: Well, I did practice with Jonathan for when we were going to live together. But that was before he thought I was too much trouble. And we had our clothes on, and it was only for a few minutes. Oh, my head --

Man: You know, Lily, anything worth doing takes serious practice. Would you like me to get in bed with you?

J.R.: What'd you do? You whip up this BS to guilt me?

Dixie: When you held Krystal hostage in the cabin, you aimed the gun at her, but you shot me instead.

J.R.: You're lying.

[Dixie removes her jacket and shows her son the bullet wound on her arm.]

Dixie: A few more inches in, and I wouldn't be standing here today. I would've survived a horrible car accident only to have been killed by my son. And now you may have murdered Kendall and her baby.

Kendall's voice: Gunshot. That was a gunshot. Zach? Zach, talk to me. Please let me know you're still alive.

Joe: Erica, stay back.

Erica: Help, the man's insane! He's shooting a gun. Kendall's in there. Please stop him --

Derek: Everybody quiet!

Ryan: Back, back now.

Derek: Stand and direct.

Tad: Who's shooting?

Zach: First and only warning shot. I will kill anyone that tries to take Kendallís baby. You touch my wife or her son, and I will kill you. Is that clear enough for everybody?

Kendall's voice: You're alive. You're ok. Please, God, let me wake up, hold my husband, tell him what he means to me.

Erica: Zach? You have my child in there, and you're killing her. Every second without the C-section, without the medication she needs. It's a death sentence. I can't help her if I just do nothing.

Tad: What the hell is going on?

Erica: Zach -- he's got Kendall in there. He's -- he's got a gun.

Tad: Come with me.

Ryan: Derek, get your men back and leave it alone for a little while.

Derek: How far back do you want me to go, a block? Does that -- does that work for you? Maybe take a break, watch the game? My men are professionals. Now, we have an armed man in here with a medically compromised hostage.

Ryan: He'll never hurt her, Derek. He wonít. You're not going to get to him with riot gear and rifles. It's not going to happen. Our chance to draw him out of there is Kendall and how much he loves her. Now, how trained are your men at that?

Derek: Outside -- that's as far as we'll go. If I hear one shot, one sound --

Ryan: Understood.

Derek: I'm not about to let this go on forever.

Ryan: It can't. Kendall doesn't have forever.

Erica: After we got the court order, we came back here to save Kendall. Zach staged a phony fire alarm. He did it so he could barricade himself in there with Kendall. I can't lose my daughter, Tad, I wonít.

Tad: Everybody's thinking with their hearts. I mean, you and Ryan are doing what you're doing because you love Kendall, but so is Slater. That just makes for acres and acres of gray area and no black-and-white.

Erica: There is no gray area here. Zach Slater is willing to allow the -- the blood to continue to bleed into her skull until the pressure builds up enough to cause her to be brain-dead. Zach Slater is willing to let her die.

Tad: It's not a done deal. Never underestimate the occasional miracle. They can turn things around in a second.

Dixie: I didn't scream when the bullet went in, because I think I was in some kind of shock. And I didn't stick around, because I had to get away. Because if I was going to die, there was no way I was going to let you ever find out that you were the one that killed me.

J.R.: I didn't mean to shoot you.

Dixie: And you didn't mean to put Kendall in a coma. You were just trying to kill your wife. Is that supposed to make me feel better?

J.R.: Is that why you came here? To tell me that I almost killed you?

Dixie: No. I never, ever wanted you to find out. I'm just trying anything, something just to get through to you. What's it going to take? I mean, is somebody going to have to die before you wake up?

Ryan: Zach, they're gone. There's no cops, no guns. Nobody is going to try anything.

Zach: I'm just going to go to the door. I'll be right back, ok? You sent the cops away, that's a good idea. There's no reason for people who are doing their job to get hurt. But, Ryan, if you're trying to get to this baby, you're going to have to come through me. Hey. It's just us again -- you, me, Spike. Always Spike.

Julia: So that's it? We just -- just sit here, do nothing?

Ryan: We wait.

Julia: Well, it works for me, but not for Kendall.

Ryan: I know, I know, I know.

Julia: No, no, no, no, she doesn't just need the drug to reduce the swelling in her brain. Right now she needs her IV changed. She needs her input and her output measured. She needs her ICP monitored. She needs her vitals checked. The baby -- the baby needs his vitals checked. If we don't get in there soon, Ryan, you and Zach could lose Kendall and the baby.

Man: Best travel deals in Manhattan -- theater, restaurants, hotels.

Jonathan: No, I don't want --

Man: Take two. Here, tell a friend.

Jonathan: Wait -- wait, wait, wait. Two -- two lions. Two lions -- where -- where is this hotel? Where's this hotel, the Jerome Hotel?

Man: Whoa, whoa, easy, guy, I just hand out the things.

Jonathan: No, my girlfriend's there. Where is it?

Man: All right, too much information, pal.

Jonathan: No, no -- please tell me where it is, she needs me.

Man: Look, the address is right there. Just read it, already.

Jonathan: 7th -- 7th Avenue, 7th -- 7th Avenue? 7th Ė 7ís the Ė 7ís the square root of 49. No, that's one of Lilyís clues. Where -- where is the Jerome Hotel on 7th Avenue?

Man: It's 10 blocks that way. Now, get out of my face.

Jonathan: It is? That way? Ok -- ok, thank you. Thank you very much! Thank you.

Man: Have you ever had sex, Lily?

Lily: No. But my former boyfriend, Sam, wanted to. But I just couldn't, and he got angry.

Man: Oh, what a jerk, pressuring you like that. It just proves that he wasn't ready. Not your fault at all.

Lily: Really? Because he thought it was.

Man: No, no, it's supposed to be something that two people both want and, you know, both enjoy.

Lily: Yeah, I think I need some water.

Man: You know, I want to do all I can to make things easier for you -- better. You know, you're an adult, but you don't have a lot of practice at what adults do, do you? Here you go. I'll tell you, sex is one of those things people need to experience. Would you like me to help you out? Would you like to have sex with me?

Lily: No, thank you. I can't touch. I don't like touching -- it's part of my disorder.

Man: You know, I'll bet there are a lot of things you couldn't do before, but now you can with a little time and practice.

Lily: I can't practice sex.

Man: Let's try an experiment. Let's see if we can make all your negative feelings about sex and touching just go away.

Lily: Can we do that?

Man: Can't hurt to try, can it?

Lily: As long as there's no touching.

Man: Not if you don't say so. Now, let's see, maybe -- maybe your body can send you signals, you know, have a physical reaction to visual stimuli.

Lily: You talk like a teacher. I like that. Well, what's the stimuli?

Man: We could get undressed and look at each other. You could tell me if you feel something when you look at me. Here, I'll go first.

Man: Now, let's check for reactions. Any tingling?

Lily: No. Does that make me abnormal?

Man: Well, do you feel scared or uncomfortable?

Lily: No.

Man: Then you're doing just great. Now it's your turn. Undress for me, Lily. Let me look at you.

Man: Wow. You're beautiful, Lily. How does it make you feel to have me say that?

Lily: Ok.

Man: It makes most women very happy to know they're attractive.

Lily: I don't think I want to have sex. I just want to sleep.

Man: Oh, but we haven't even gotten to the fun part. Here, let me help you off with your top, ok?

Lily: Don't touch.

Man: No, it's ok.

Lily: Don't touch.

Man: Lily, shh, shh. Itís fine, it's fine. It's just part of the experiment to help you learn.

Lily: No, don't touch.

Man: Ok, ok, ok. I won't touch you now. I won't touch you again, but I do really want to help you, Lily. I have an idea -- why don't you touch me?

Zach: Your face is perfect. The most perfect thing I've ever seen. You know what's even more perfect than your face? Your eyes. So why don't you open them and look at me now?

Kendall's voice: Don't give up on me, Zach. I'm trying. I swear to you I'm trying. You keep trying, too. Together -- together, can we bring me back?

Ryan: Zach? We need to talk.

Zach: Go away, we're busy.

Ryan: Look at her IV bag. It's empty, isn't it? It needs to be changed, Zach, and her vitals have to be checked -- hers and the babyís.

Joe: We need a blood draw, as well.

Ryan: If you really want to help Kendall and Spike, you got to let somebody in there. What's it going to be?

Erica: I love Kendall, Tad, and the baby. I cheered Kendall on about the baby. I really hoped she'd raise the baby with Ryan. I never wanted the baby gone. But Zach acts as if we're heartless. He says that he loves her, and yet he's willing to let her die. Parents aren't supposed to lose their children. I'm not ready to say good-bye.

Tad: You don't want to let her go. I understand.

Erica: Well, Zach doesnít. And what about Kendall? Will she? I mean, I'm not stupid. I know what can happen. If we save Kendallís life, and she opens her eyes, what do I tell her? How do I tell her at we sacrificed her baby, so that she could live? Will she ever forgive me? Will she ever forgive herself for living if her baby doesn't make it?

Dixie: What are you doing? Right now?

J.R.: I'm in jail, staring at my mother's scar.

Dixie: Yep. And that pretty much says it all, doesn't it? There's all this ugliness all around you, inside you. But you can get out of it. You can. You can do it just by owning up, just by facing what you've done, taking responsibility for what you've done. And doing everything that you can to make up for it. That's the only way. That is the only hope.

Lily: No. I don't want to experiment. I don't want to have sex. I just want to sleep.

Man: Lily, you can do this. Come on, I have faith in you. Become a real adult, a real woman. Don't give up now. You just need a little more help, and since you like me and trust me, let me help you take off your clothes.

Man: Hey, help me out?

Jonathan: No, I'm sorry. I have to find someone. I have to hurry.

Man: I'm looking for someone, too. The manager said he saw him, but he's not registered.

Jonathan: I'm looking for Lily, ok, and I have to hurry.

Man: Just a quick look at a picture.

Jonathan: She sent an e-mail saying that she thinks I gave up on our plan and that's not --

Man: Just a second. This man's wife -- this man's wife's trying to find him.

Jonathan: Yeah, and -- yeah. I -- I've seen him.

Man: Where?

Jonathan: Well, I think --

Man: What room?

Jonathan: Well, no, not here. It -- it was in a warehouse, and it has a big steel door with a lot of graffiti on it? Only it's just a few blocks -- it's a few blocks that way.

Man: Thank you.

Jonathan: No, wait, wait. I'm looking for someone, too. Her name's Lily, and she's very pretty and blonde and about this tall and --

Man: The manager said he'd be right back.

Jonathan: But, I mean --

Man: He may know where she is. Wait for him.

Jonathan: But I just looked --

Erica: It's an unthinkable choice -- my child or her baby. And why, why?

Tad: Because of J.R., because I couldn't get to him.

Erica: Oh, no. Tad, this is not your fault. Greg Madden is the one who's behind all of this. You know that.

Brooke: Hi. There you are.

Tad: Brooke, how'd you get in here? Through the air conditioning ducts?

Brooke: I just flashed my "Tempo" credentials.

Erica: You came for a story? To write about this?

Brooke: No. I came to see if I could help, if there was something I could do.

Erica: Well -- I remember once that I asked you what it was like to lose a child so I'd be prepared if I ever --

Brooke: Erica, don't. We're not there again, and I pray we never will be.

Erica: Me, too. Joe? Joe, what is it? Is something wrong?

Joe: Zach's agreed to let Julia in so we can check on Kendall and the baby.

Tad: He's being reasonable now?

Joe: Well, we're not going to push him. We can only take what he gives us.

Erica: Julia? You're going in? You'll see my daughter?

Julia: Just to see if she's ok. I'll tell her you love her.

Erica: Yes. Yes, we all love her.

Julia: Ok.

Joe: Uh -- this came in over the fax machine line. I knew you'd want to get it right away.

J.R.: It's too late.

Dixie: No, it's not too late. It's -- you're alive. It's never too late.

J.R.: You don't know. You don't have any idea.

Dixie: Huh. Are you kidding me? I understand rage and betrayal and frustration and guilt -- guilt so much that you just can't admit what you've done because if you do, you just -- you make it so real that it can't be undone. What am I doing? This is not the way to teach you how to do the right thing.

J.R.: So, what, I'm a lost cause?

Dixie: No. No, you're not a lost cause. Look, my absence, my death -- you got over those things. You did, you -- in your own way. You had a life, you had a family. I mean, and you could have it all back again, you can, you can do it, but you have to make it happen. I can't do it for you. Nobody can. Guard? Look, I do love you, J.R.

Ryan: Zach is armed, and he's very dangerous, and he will do whatever it takes to protect that baby.

Julia: I can take care of myself.

Ryan: Which is the only reason I even thought of this.

Julia: You want me to try to disarm Zach?

Ryan: What I don't want is you to put yourself in danger.

Julia: I'm going to take care of my patient first, and after that --

Ryan: If the opportunity presents itself.

Julia: Ahem. I have to get back to work.

Ryan: Julia's ready, Zach. The rest is up to you.

Zach: No one comes in here but Julia. Are we clear?

Julia: It's just me.

Zach: Move. Hurry up.

[Before Zach can close the door behind Julia, Erica slips into Kendallís room.]

Ryan: Wait, Erica, Erica! Zach, Zach, don't shoot!

Erica: You'd better shoot to kill, because that's the only way you'll keep from my daughter. You said you'd shoot. I believe you will. But that's a chance I have to take.

Zach: Get out.

Erica: Kendall is my daughter. She's my child. Zach, if she doesn't get the medication she needs soon -- if they don't bring down the swelling in her brain --

Zach: I know.

Erica: It could happen any second. And she could slip away. And she won't hear how much I love her and how much I want her back. I know you don't care for me, but please, you wouldn't take that away from her?

Erica: Kendall, I'm here, honey. Everything's going to be just fine. It is. I love you so much.

Kendall's voice: Zach's doing what I want. Just listen to him, because he's right.

Zach: Do what you need to do quickly.

Julia: I'll work as fast as I can.

[While Zach barricades the door once again, Julia stares at the gun that he has placed in the back of his belt.]

Dixie: David, whatever you want, not now.

David: I figured it out, Dixie. All of it. What you wanted from Madden, why you're trying to drug him into telling you the truth. Kate is alive, isn't she? Greg Madden took her from you. And this -- all this -- you're just trying to get your daughter back, right? Oh, that son of a -- after the hell that you went through? I'm so sorry, Dixie. We are going to find her. I'm going to help you bring your child back home.

Zach: What's that sound?

Julia: That's the baby's heartbeat.

Zach: Turn it up. All the way, come on.

[Heartbeat grows louder]

Zach: You hear that? That's Spike. That's your son. He's sounding pretty strong. You know why? Because you did that for him.

Kendall's voice: Oh, Spike. Oh, my baby. Thank you, Zach. Thank you so much from both of us. Spike, listen to you go.

Zach: Listen to you go.

[When Erica grabs Zachís gun out of his belt, he quickly disarms her.]

Erica: Let me go!

Zach: You're not going to stop me from doing what Kendall wants.

Erica: Kendall wants to live!

Zach: Yeah, she wants to live. She wants to live. She wants to have her son and raise him. Her son, this son right here. That's what she wants, and that's what I'm going to give her.

Man: I thought you were an adult.

Lily: I am.

Man: So am I. I've had a lot more practice at this than you have, ok? So let's take off our clothes and get in the bed.

Lily: No, I don't want sex.

Man: We won't do anything you don't want to. Now, let me help you off with these.

Lily: No, don't touch. Don't touch. Don't touch, don't touch!

Man: Ok, all right. Relax. Chill, chill, chill. Everything's going to be fine.

[Pounding on door]

Jonathan: Lily?

[Pounding on door]

Jonathan: Lily?

Lily: Jonathan --

Man: Shh. Don't say a word.

Jonathan: It's me! Lily?

Man: All right? Shut up.

Jonathan: Are you ok?

Man: Don't talk!

Lily: Don't touch me.

Jonathan: Leave her alone!

Man: Oh! You lunatic!

Jonathan: Oh! You hurt her!

Man: Whatever you saw -- whatever you say, this never happened.

[While Jonathan lies on the floor unconscious, the man grabs his clothes and runs out.]

Julia: Kendall's ICP numbers are still within normal limits.

Erica: And the pressure in her brain?

Julia: It's fine. And her neuro status hasn't changed so far.

Erica: Which means she's hanging on.

Zach: It means you can leave now.

Erica: As long as my daughter is here, I'll be here.

Zach: I didn't shoot you, Erica. It doesn't meant that I wonít.

Erica: Zach, her number could change at any second. What will you do then? What will you do for my daughter?

Julia: She's stable for now. If you're fighting with Zach, Kendall can hear you.

Erica: Kendall, I love you, honey. Can you hear that? I'll be right back.

Ryan: All right. Ok, ok. I'm just going to -- all right. Erica, thank God you're all right. What -- what were you thinking?

Erica: I had to make sure that Kendall is all right.

Joe: How is she?

Julia: BP, 100/70. Pulse, 92. ICP is holding steady at 12.

Joe: All right, that's the high end of normal. She's not in crisis yet.

Erica: Oh, that's a good sign, isn't it, Joe?

Joe: It could happen any second.

Ryan: What about the baby?

Erica: We heard his heartbeat.

Julia: Heart rate's 150. The baby's stats are fine.

Ryan: He's still too small, isn't he?

Joe: If we take him now --

Ryan: The odds are, my son won't survive.

Brooke: Any news?

Tad: Ok. I guess you could call it that. As far as I'm concerned, there's been enough tragedy around here lately. What J.R. has done. What Erica and Ryan are going through. Even Zach.

Brooke: You feel for him, too?

Tad: Yeah. All he's doing is fighting for what he thinks Kendall wants -- that baby. Who knows? If I'd been willing to do that for Dixie -- been willing to accept how far she would go to protect Kate, she wouldn't have lied. She wouldn't have run. We'd still be a family. Me, Dixie, Jamie, J.R., and Kate. Now, we have nothing.

Dixie: Look, David, I don't want to talk about this.

David: I'm right, aren't I? Kate is alive. And you have no idea where she is. All because of Greg Madden? Well, I am going to make him talk, Dixie, and you know I can do that. I'm also going to make him pay.

Dixie: Now, David --

David: You know I can do that, too.

Dixie: Please -- I -- I'm not getting into this with you.

David: Oh -- you're kidding, right? I am already into this. I love you, Dixie. And unless I'm wrong about your daughter, which I'm not --

Dixie: David, I played a part in what happened.

David: No, no, don't, donít. Don't do this. You're a victim here.

Dixie: You don't know that.

David: All right, fine. Tell me. Tell me what you could possibly have done to deserve this kind of hell.

Dixie: Listen, I went to see J.R. today. And I told him that he has to own up and take responsibility for what he did. It's the only way that -- that he can make things right, and I intend on taking my own advice. Please.

David: The second you change your mind -- the second you need me --

Dixie: I know.

Zach: We're alone, finally. Just you and me. Because this is our version of a honeymoon. We're on the big bed and tell all. I know you always want to hear my secrets. Well, you broke me. I'll tell you everything you want to know. From Alexander Cambias, Jr., to Zach Slater, to a simple man who loves his wife. You sure that's what you want? You already got my heart. You have my future. Now you'll have my past. It's a lot for a young lady. But I guess you can always tell me to shut up. Ok. Here I go.

[Ryan stares at J.R. in his jail cell.]

Lily: 799, 800, 801, 802, 803, 804, 805, 806, 807, 808 --

Jonathan: Hi.

Lily: 810, 811 --

Jonathan: Hi. It's ok now.

Lily: 815, 816, 817 --

Jonathan: It's ok now. Lily, I -- I found you. Your clue. Lily, you're so smart. Your clue was perfect. Lily?

Lily: 828, 829 --

Jonathan: I'm glad -- I'm glad to see you. I missed you so much. But we're together again now. So everything's going to be ok. Ok? It's ok.

[Lily stops rocking back and forth and raises her hand toward Jonathanís.]

J.R.: How's Kendall? Is she out of the coma?

Ryan: The night of the snowstorm, when your son was missing through that night, we looked for your son everywhere, didn't we? I remember thinking to myself how torn up you were. You were just ripped apart. The thought of losing your son. The very best part of you. I just remember that. And you told me, of course, to reach out and to love my son. And you were right. Because now all of a sudden, I've fallen in love with a kid that I've never even met. And his mom, Kendall -- just the love in that woman is -- it just blows my mind, everything about her. Everything about her and my son. And now, because of you, I have to choose between them. I have to risk Kendallís life, or my son's. Because of you, one of those people -- one of those loved and needed people will probably die. But I -- I came here to tell you one thing that I do know for sure. And I want you to listen real careful, because I have never been more serious about anything in my life. If the law doesn't take care of you, I will.

Zach: Just minutes and hours never really mean anything, because my life started when I found you, and when I started loving you. And when we said our vows. You said you would always find your way back to me, no matter what. Well, this is it. This is "no matter what." So I need you to fight your way back.

Kendall's voice: I meant it, Zach, every word, and I'm trying so hard. I love you.

Zach: I love you.

Tad: This is Tad.

Dixie: It's me. I need to see you tomorrow to talk.

Tad: About J.R.?

Dixie: About everything. About our daughter. About Kate.

>> On the next "All My Children" Ė

[Babe smacks Josh in the face.]

David (to Greg): How is your chest feeling about now? Tight? Boy, I would hate that.

Greg (to David): What did you do to me?

Dixie: Tad, she's alive. Kate is alive. Greg Madden lied.
