Amanda: It was good to see you, Mom.

Janet: I wish I could stay longer.

Amanda: Did you get home ok?

Janet: Fine. But I don't feel good about leaving you there.

Amanda: Mom, the doctors are treating me terrifically, and I'm getting a lot better. They brought me a wheelchair today.

Janet: I'm not just talking about the hospital. Are you sure you don't want your mother there in Pine Valley with you?

Amanda: Mom, we've gone over this. I'm doing fine all on my own, ok? Hey, I need to go right now. I'll call you back later, though, ok?

Janet: I love you, sweetie.

Amanda: You, too.

Babe: I'm sorry about what happened. If there is anything that you need, anything I can do for you at all --

Amanda: Help! Help! Somebody, help me!

J.R.: Well, there's a guy who looks like he could use a boost. Winifred just made a fresh pot. Help yourself. It's coffee, Tad.

Tad: Mixed with?

J.R.: I'm going to take a wild guess here -- hot water?

Tad: Well, that's good to hear. With all due respect, I thought you might still be on a bender. Derek just told me all about your accident. Amanda Dillonís tire tread tattoo, and Babe says she was driving?

J.R.: I quit drinking?

Tad: Smart man. Holidays are right around the corner, and God knows Thanksgiving's hard enough on this joint as it is. If you're interested, I've got about a six-hour life preserver I could throw you. I was wondering if you wanted to bring Little Adam over and have Turkey Day with the Martins. I mean, you might miss out on some entertainment, what with a food fight between Krystal and Adam, but I could always get Opal to throw a roll at Palmer.

J.R.: Well, thank you, but I'm going to have Thanksgiving here. Babe's coming. I invited her.

Tad: Are you sure you're off the sauce?

Simone: Ah! Well, there they are, the fire-retardant twins. Hooray for Ryan and the PVPD! Rah-rah! Hello? We're alive! Yay for us! Ok, what's wrong?

Greenlee: Not a thing. I'm great.

Kendall: Good over here.

Simone: Said with as much hostility as two women can muster. All right, why are you guys fighting now?

Kendall: Oh, who's fighting? I couldn't care less if the bossy little patient in the bed across from me thinks that borrowing my belly means that she can run my love life.

Simone: You have a love life?

Greenlee: No, she doesn't, and she shouldn't, and she won't, especially with that creepy freak she calls husband.

Kendall: You're a creepy freak.

Simone: Oh.

Greenlee: Simone, would you be so kind as to tell Mrs. Slater why I didn't tell her her husband paid her a visit?

Simone: I would love to, if I knew.

Greenlee: Because he's no good for her.

Kendall: Ok --

Simone: I'm guessing you heard that.

Kendall: Hmm, yeah. Would you just please tell Miss None-of-her-business that she didn't have to protect me from Zach, because he doesn't want me, anyway.

Greenlee: Would you tell Miss Woe-is-me she should be so lucky.

Kendall: Tell Miss About-to-do-the-happy-dance we're getting a divorce.

Simone: Oh, Kendall, I am so sorry -- I think.

Greenlee: Don't be. It's the best news I've heard in weeks.

Kendall: You know what? Why don't you just wipe your drool, Greenlee, because with Zach out of the picture the only husband I have left is you!

Greg: Oh. Good morning, ladies. I have test results re waiting for. Are you ready to hear about your baby?

Ryan: I don't think my brother can handle any changes today, Livia. Are you sure that the DA's not going to have a sudden change of heart?

Livia: Summerhill has accepted Jonathan's not guilty plea. The judge simply has to sign off on that. It shouldn't be a problem.

Ryan: God, I hope you're right. I really want my brother free for a new start.

Jack: Yeah, well, I wouldn't count on that, Ryan. You may have gotten the DA to believe your sob story, but I'm here to make sure the judge doesn't. No way is your brother going to walk out of here today a free man. Not today, not ever.

Jonathan: I remember -- from the cave. You stopped Sam from shooting me. Are -- are you here to shoot me now?

Ryan: I'm not going to argue with you, Jack. Just listen to the facts. It's a done deal.

Jack: Until the judge makes a ruling, nothing's written in stone. Colin, you want to tell me why I wasn't given any warning, why I wasn't notified about this little hearing?

Colin: I got a call from the federal prosecutor.

Jack: You got a call from! You have to delay. You have to buy me more time. I can bring this murderer to justice.

Colin: You couldn't get the federal attorney to press charges.

Livia: Or the governor. You've called in every favor. You have covered every base in the commonwealth, and still we are here. More time is not going to make a difference. Let it go, Jack. It's over.

Jonathan: You're -- you're not -- you're not here to kill -- kill me?

Julia: I came here to find out more about you.

Jonathan: Is -- is that why you stopped Sam from shooting me at the caves? So -- so you and I could be friends?

Julia: I did that for his sake, not yours.

Jonathan: Oh, well -- well, I'm very glad, because it's a real -- really bad feeling knowing that you killed someone. You wouldn't know anything about that.

Julia: My problem with you, Jonathan, is that you say you're very sorry for all the things that you did. You murdered my brother-in-law and your own brother, and you terrorized three women. How do you expect me to believe that that kind of evil just disappears with the stroke of a scalpel?

Jonathan: Ryan says it did.

Julia: Well, I'm not so sure. Ryan might have to stand up in court today and swear that all of those terrible things you did were the result of that tumor, and that you're never going to hurt anyone again.

Jonathan: I do.

Julia: Well, I hope not. You don't want to make a liar out of him, hmm? You let your family down, Jonathan, you'd be a big disappointment.

Jonathan: Well, that's -- that's what my -- my dad always used to say to me.

Ryan: I got a really bad feeling about this. I mean, Jack is on a serious payback mission. There's no way he's going to listen to reason.

Livia: All it matters is if the judge listens.

Erin: Your lame plea to the DA backfired, and Jonathan's going home today. So you can go, you know. Freak show's over.

Aidan: Yeah, your brother slaughtered two of my friends. Now he finally has to appear in front of a judge. This freak show's just about to begin.

Jack: Slater, get out of here.

Zach: Last time I checked, this was a public hearing. You might like having me around. I'm on your side.

Jack: The day I align myself with you --

Zach: Is the day we rid society of another Lavery. I told you, we're on the same team.

Jack: If you were so concerned about the world being overpopulated by Laverys, then why did you let your wife get pregnant with one?

Zach: I try not to control Kendall. Women like that.

Jack: You don't give a damn about Kendall or the havoc she's wreaking in my daughter's life. All you care about is that you keep those casinos open, keep the money coming in. And with Kendallís name on your licenses, you can both do that, now, can't you?

Zach: Kendall has made a tremendous sacrifice for your daughter. If you insult her again, you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

Kendall: Well, come on, quit stalling, Doc. We're dying over here.

Greenlee: Oh, God, is it bad news? Is that why you're stalling?

Greg: I'm not stalling, and it's not bad news. No, there was no evidence of birth defects, as we expected. Your baby is the picture of health.

Kendall: Oh, thank God.

Greenlee: Oh, oh -- ow, I'm -- I'm happy, too, Kendall, but you're acting like there was something to worry about. I told you, Ryan and I have clear family histories.

Kendall: I'm hormonal. Sue me.

Greenlee: What was that? What was that look just now?

Greg: I think Kendall wants me to tell you the rest. You see, I didn't just check for birth defects. I also determined the sex of the child.

Simone: Oh! Like a Little Ryan or a Ryanita? Oh! Oh, my God, we'd love to know. Well, Greenlee?

Kendall: It's your call, Mommy. You want to find out if we're having sugar and spice or snakes and snails?

Greenlee: Yes --

Simone: Oh --

Greenlee: Let's find out.

Greg: It's a boy.

Simone: Oh, a Little Ryan! Oh, my gosh! You're going to have a Little Ryan! How cute is that! Oh!

Kendall: It's everything that you've ever wanted. Greenlee, it's everything you've ever wanted.

Greenlee: A Little Ryan -- mixed in with a little piece of me.

J.R.: All right, it's just one day. I'll take in some football, I'll take some snaps with the digital for Little Aís scrapbook. It'll be over before the stuffing is digested.

Tad: J.R., who do you think you're talking to? You and Babe can't be in the same room together for more than two minutes without pulling out the artillery.

J.R.: No, Babe's not so bad. She's been burying the hatchet.

Tad: You mean the one that you buried in her spine or the one that she buried in yours?

J.R.: Babe's the one that got me to stop drinking -- for the baby. I don't know what's gotten into her, but it's like she's on my side. I know, I know. It sounds crazy. I think she's killing me with kindness.

Tad: No, J.R., I think she's killing you with "you owe me's." Let's face it, there's nobody on this planet that could convince you to let Babe Carey drive your car, I don't care how drunk you were.

J.R.: She took the keys.

Tad: No. She took the blame. And this little holiday get-together with Little Adam is your way of saying thank you, isn't it?

J.R.: Look, if you want to know, you ask Babe. I don't really remember how it went down.

Tad: J.R. --

J.R.: All right, the real truth. I can't figure the girl out. I mean, is she for real, or is she just playing me to try to get closer to my kid?

Tad: How would I know?

J.R.: That's right, you wouldn't. You haven't been around us enough. Maybe you could. You could come over for Thanksgiving, too. You could watch us, see how she acts around me.

Tad: You want me to add to the Carey-Chandler dysfunctional mix, just so I can go undercover for you?

J.R.: Yeah. Stupid idea. Would you?

Amanda: Help!

Babe: It's official. You've completely lost your mind.

Amanda: Help, somebody, please! She's trying to kill me!

Anita: What in the world is going on here?

Jamie: Somebody's crying wolf again.

Amanda: No, she didn't kill me with that car. She came to finish the job.

Babe: Unbelievable! After everything that you've done to me? You tried to behead me with a power saw at The Roadside. And still, I come to check on your sorry rear.

Anita: All right, that's enough. Babe, you need to leave.

Babe: Not yet. I came here to tell Amanda something, and I really need to get it off my chest -- privately.

Amanda: Huh! Forget it! I'm not staying in here alone with you.

Jamie: You'll survive. Let's just give them a minute.

Amanda: No way! Did you hear one word I said? She wants me dead.

Jamie: I promise, Anita, everything's going to be fine.

Anita: Look, we'll just be right outside.

Amanda: Oh, my God! You're going to leave me alone with this maniac?

Babe: You know how I can tell you're feeling better? Because you're as big a bitch as ever.

Jamie: There is no way Babe is here to hurt Amanda.

Anita: Still, there's major bad blood, and it's not good for Amanda to take on that kind of stress.

Jamie: Trust me, the last person you need to worry about is Amanda. She's the dangerous one in the room.

Amanda: Nice snow job. "Even after all the mean things Amanda did to me, I still came to make sure she's ok." What a crock. If you're angling to make me your BFF again, so I don't ID you in court, forget it.

Babe: Actually, I came here to tell you about my little visit with your mother.

Amanda: What? When did you see my mother?

Babe: Just yesterday. And she seemed super surprised to find out that Jamie broke up with you on his own, not because of me. But she seemed to accept it.

Amanda: You come near my mother again, I will kill you.

Zach: Whew. Nervous?

Ryan: Suspicious.

Zach: Nothing I've done, I hope.

Ryan: No, no, no. You at my brother's court hearing? I mean, that's all just perfectly normal.

Zach: Get him out of here. The ticket's on me, anywhere in the world -- for you, your sister, and your brother. You can start over. Leave people here in peace.

Ryan: I will take care of my brother, thank you.

Zach: Then do it already.

Ryan: I will. Stay out of my way.

Jonathan: I don't want to be a disappointment. I don't want to be a disappointment. I'll be good. I'll be good.

Julia: You don't like hearing that, do you? That you disappoint?

Jonathan: No, no, no.

Julia: Don't you think you have?

Jonathan: Why are you doing this to me? Why -- why -- why are you trying to make me sad?

Julia: I'm trying to understand you, Jonathan. I need to know if you've really changed, or if you're just following orders.

Jonathan: I'm very good at take orders.

Julia: Is that what you're doing now? Did someone tell you to act like you've changed? That -- that you've suddenly grown a conscience?

Jonathan: N -- no, no. No, nobody's told me anything. I -- I am changed.

Julia: Not everyone's going to believe you're ok. Some people are going to be upset that you're going to go unpunished. What are you going to do if somebody yells at you in the street, calls you a murderer to your face? Or what if somebody tries to hurt you, because they're scared that you're going to hurt them first?

Jonathan: Well, I don't want them to be scared. And I -- I don't want to do bad things.

Julia: How can I be sure?

Jonathan: I don't -- I don't know. I don't know. I just don't -- I don't feel like hurting anyone.

Greenlee: Can I see the test results? I want a keepsake of everything that has to do with my son.

Kendall: You're going to have a boy.

Greenlee: A boy, big, strong, and healthy. The results, Dr. Madden? I want to keep a scrapbook.

Greg: Unfortunately, these have to stay with your file.

Greenlee: Oh. Well, can I look at it, then? I want to see it in print --

Greg: Um --

Greenlee: My little boy's first signs of life.

Greg: It wouldn't make any sense to you. It's all very technical.

Kendall: Yeah. Greenlee, who needs numbers and codes when you can see the real thing right here?

Greg: I have more good news for you.

Simone: Oh, my gosh. What is this, Christmas? Can you stand it?

Greg: You're being released today.

Simone: Today?

Kendall: Both of us?

Greg: Well, you do everything as a team, don't you?

Greenlee: I'd like to think so.

Simone: Ok. Well, congratulations, guys. Love you both. Ok.

Greenlee: Where are you running off to?

Simone: Uh -- well, you know the old adage, you know, "when the boss is away, the mice --" you know. I've got a few things to do at Fusion, so ta-ta.

Greenlee: Excuse me.

[Greenlee walks into the bathroom but leaves the door ajar, so she can eavesdrop on the conversation in the other room.]

Greg: That was the last hurdle.

Kendall: I was totally freaking out.

Greg: Everything went exactly as you'd hoped.

Kendall: Better.

Greg: And she need never know.

Babe: She's nice. Well, not like her daughter. And nothing like the basket case I expected after hearing all your stories.

Amanda: I never told any mean stories. I love my mother. If you did one single thing to upset her --

Babe: You mean like tell her the truth about how nasty her daughter is? I wanted to, believe me, but she's so obsessed with wanting to think that you're normal, I just -- I had to humor her.

Amanda: Condescending, manipulative little --

Babe: Oh, almost forgot -- I didn't tell her about you trying to drug Jamie into marriage. So, you can thank me now.

Amanda: You're insane.

Babe: I'm insane, your mom's insane -- wow. Everyone's insane but you, Amanda, the girl carrying around hidden wedding gowns, baggies of pills, and electric saws?

Amanda: You think you've got me all figured out? Those pills weren't going to make Jamie do anything he didn't want to --

Babe: Just admit it. You got caught. You got busted, and now you owe me bigtime for not blabbing it around, because if I really was that -- what was it? -- Condescending, conniving little fill-in-the-blank you think I am, I would have told Janet the full-on truth about her sweet little angel. But the fact that I didn't means that I'm not out to hurt you, Amanda. So can we just end this?

Amanda: No. Derek, thank God you're here.

Babe: Oh, my God.

Amanda: Babe is trying to kill me again. You have to arrest her.

J.R.: Look, I know you can't be happy about playing PI on a holiday. Thanks, Tad.

Tad: Anytime, son.

J.R.: Hopefully, it pays off. We'll get to the bottom of why Babe's being so nice.

Tad: You know, you might want to brace yourself to the idea that she's actually sincere.

J.R.: Maybe. Or maybe she's just pushing for more time with Little A. You know, after what happened with Di, I'm not taking anything at face value.

Tad: I don't blame you.

J.R.: Good. All right.

Di: How is he?

Tad: What are you doing? Spying on us now?

Di: No. I came to see J.R. I was worried about him. I have been. When you guys went inside, I hung back. I figured I wouldn't have to bother him if you would tell me how he --

J.R.: Well, hi, Aunt Di.

Tad: Bye, Aunt Di.

J.R.: It's ok, Tad. Won't you come in?

Jack: Hey.

Julia: Hey.

Jack: How are you? I wasn't sure you'd make it.

Julia: I went to see Jonathan. I wanted to check his condition for myself. He might be the real deal, guys.

Aidan: And what, you buy Jonathan's miraculous transformation?

Jack: Of course she doesn't, because it's a load of garbage.

Julia: I'm not so sure. He didn't flinch, he didn't show any signs of anger, just genuine regret for what he'd done.

Bailiff: All rise!

Judge: This hearing is called to order. District Attorney Summerhill, will you please state your position for the record.

Colin: In light of Mr. Lavery's convincing medical evidence, Your Honor, the commonwealth accepts his plea of not guilty by reason of mental defect. If it pleases the court, this --

Sam: You have to stop this! Jonathan Lavery killed my father. You can't let him get away with it.

Greenlee: I need you two to explain something to me.

David: Hey. I just heard about the fire.

Kendall: Wow. You really are ostracized.

David: No. I was out of town. Are you two all right?

Greg: Yes, they're fine. They're being released today.

David: Well, thank God.

Greg: I'll go check on the release papers, make sure they're in order.

David: Are you sure you're all right?

Greenlee: Aside from a few sore ribs, peachy.

David: Well, what was Madden doing here? Is everything ok with the baby?

Kendall: Her son is just fine.

David: A boy?

Kendall: Mm-hmm, and completely healthy, according to the good doctor.

David: So how come Mommy looks like she's being led to the slaughter? Is this "Ryan coming back from the dead" thing -- is it getting to you?

Greenlee: I'm dealing.

David: I heard his batty brother's back in town. That has to have you looking over your shoulder.

Kendall: Ryan is taking care of Jonathan.

David: He should be taking care of his wife by drop-kicking his brother halfway across the universe.

Greenlee: Can we talk about something else?

David: If you need anything, all you have to do is ask. You do know that, don't you?

Greenlee: All right. Can you be my crutch while I practice walking down the hall?

David: It's a date.

Kendall: You kids have fun.

Greenlee: Kendall and Dr. Madden are keeping something from me, something to do with the baby. I need you to find out what. I don't have a lot to go on. All these shifty looks that Kendall gives Madden. And just now, I heard them talking about me never needing to know something.

David: Greenlee, Madden is a responsible doctor. He took you two on as a pair, heaven help him. But you've been in on this every step of the way. I'm sure there's nothing he knows that you don't.

Greenlee: No, no, I haven't been in on every step. He implanted Kendall without my knowing, a day before the scheduled time, just the two of them. Who knows what I missed?

David: All right, now I'm convinced that you're worrying about nothing. Greenlee, you're a total control freak. The fact that Madden did something, anything, without you being right by his side is more than enough for you to get suspicious.

Greenlee: Well, right, you might have a point, but I just need to know for sure, just so I can put all these crazy ideas swimming around in my head to rest. Now, you can snag a few minutes alone on a hospital computer in your custodian outfit. I'm sure you can tap in somehow. Just get the test results that Madden had right now and translate them.

David: And what do you hope to find here? I mean, why would Madden lie to you that your baby is healthy?

Greenlee: Well, I don't know, but if he didn't have anything to hide, why wouldn't he let me look? Believe me, I want more than anything for this to be a bust, so I can go back to trusting Kendall. I mean, she's my best friend, the most important person in my life. And the thought of her keeping something from me totally wigs me out. Maybe I'm being overly paranoid, because of everything that happened with Ryan, and maybe it's just too hard for me to trust anyone anymore. I just need to know for sure.

David: Lavery deserves to rot in hell for what he did to you. I hope you're not even thinking about giving him any time with this baby.

Greenlee: David, don't. I've got my father, Erica, Kendall, and now you all telling me how to feel about Ryan. I don't need another vote. I just need your help with Madden.

David: All right, all right. I get it. "Commit felonies for me, but mind your own business, Davey."

Greenlee: Thank you. Is now a good time?

Ryan: Everything's going to be ok. The judge is going to take care of this. Everything's all right.

Jonathan: Sam's mad, Ryan. I disappointed him.

Sam: Your Honor, you cannot let Lavery walk. He didn't show any mercy when he killed my father. Why should he get any now?

Judge: Your feelings toward Mr. Lavery are understandable, young man. The court sympathizes with your loss, as well as your frustration, but this is a legal issue, not a moral one.

Jack: Your Honor, if I may address the court on behalf of Sam Grey and Jonathan Lavery's other victims, three of whom were my own daughters --

Judge: You may.

Jack: Thank you. It's all right. I have seen the medical evidence on this case, and it is quite persuasive, until you take into consideration that it is the opinion of only a handful of medical professionals. Now, you have ruled on a great many malpractice suits. Your Honor, you know that five doctors will give you five different diagnoses on the same patient. Now, the record states that it was a brain tumor that caused Jonathan Lavery here to hear voices, to not know the difference between right and wrong, but how do we know that? What proof do we have? All we have is his word, the word of an admitted killer. How do we know this man wasn't coached to play the part of a repentant little boy? It's the perfect defense. It's the perfect opportunity to get away with murder.

Ryan: I have to say something.

Livia: Do you want to ruin your brother's case?

Jack: All I'm asking the court is to not sign off on this precipitously. You don't have to take this deal, judge. Let the justice system do its job. Let this case go to trial. Let a jury of Mr. Lavery's peers decide whether or not he's still a threat. He killed three men. They deserve justice. The women that he kidnapped and terrorized -- they deserve justice. The people of Pine Valley deserve a say on whether or not they want to share their streets with this man. Your Honor, I beg of you, give them that say.

Amanda: Whip out the cuffs. This chick is lethal.

Derek: I'm not here to arrest Babe, Amanda. We're not pressing charges against her.

Amanda: You are not serious.

Babe: Thank you.

Derek: We have no proof she was trying to kill you.

Amanda: She ran me down with a car. She's been threatening me ever since.

Derek: There's no evidence she was speeding, no alcohol in her system. To make matters trickier, you were walking along Route 17 with dark clothing late at night without a light. From a legal standpoint, it all adds up to a terrible accident.

Amanda: Look, Babe's had it out for me for months. She is just jealous, because I hooked up with her ex-fiancť.

Babe: Wow. You never know when to stop, do you?

Derek: Babe's passenger, J.R. Chandler, backed up her claim. There was no premeditated intent, and they never saw you coming.

Amanda: Ok, ok. When I wind up dead, the blood will be on your hands.

Babe: Well, now that it's been settled that I'm not out to kill you, drop dead, Amanda.

Amanda: Ugh!

Derek: The police aren't finished with you, young lady.

J.R.: I'm surprised to see you. I figured they'd run you out of this town by now.

Di: Well, I decided to stay. J.R., I didn't come by to bother you. I just wanted to see if you're doing all right. You've been on my mind a lot lately.

J.R.: You've been on my mind, too, Aunt Di -- for all of about two minutes. I'm getting this crazy idea, and I'm thinking "Go with it."

Tad: If I were you, this is the part where I'd run.

J.R.: You're all about family bonding, right, Di? When you were lying to me on a daily basis, you practically shoved it down my throat. Well, get this -- I just invited Tad for Thanksgiving.

Di: That's wonderful, J.R.

J.R.: I knew you'd think so. I'm going to go one further, Di Henry Hunkle who's it, what's it? I'd like it very much if you could join us. This could be cathartic. Turkey all done up for the slicing.

Tad: BJís serves a great turkey dinner all day.

Di: Ahem.

Tad: That is if they'll allow you in there after your waitressing debacle.

J.R.: Oh, don't try to influence Aunt Di. You don't have to make up your mind just yet. We know that you have so many holiday plans.

Di: So you're really serious about this?

J.R.: I haven't been this pumped since my mother came back from the dead. Oops. It's a bad analogy.

Di: In that case, I'm looking forward to it.

Babe: You just got through saying that I've done nothing wrong. So why are we standing here?

Derek: All my years on the force tell me you're covering for J.R., and for that, I'd like to throw the book at you.

Babe: I've told you my story 99 times.

Derek: And I'm 99% convinced it's a lie. I'm sure J.R. is guilty of a DUI, but I can't arrest a man on a gut feeling, and I can't build a case against you when I flat-out don't think you were driving. I'm tempted to arrest you anyway, just to punish you for the lie, but I'm a better cop than that. And something tells me you've gotten yourself tangled up in something here, and you're going to get punished, anyway.

Kendall: What happened to your human walking stick?

Greenlee: David had to get back to work. God, it's going to be good to get out of here, isn't it?

Kendall: Oh, yeah. You know how much I hate it when you're right?

Greenlee: Oh, about as much as I hate it when you are.

Kendall: More. And as sick as it makes me, you were right about Zach. He doesn't really give a damn about me.

Greenlee: You don't think?

Kendall: Not one iota. But I was right about something, too. Ryan is still the best thing that's ever happened to you -- baby boy Lavery excluded.

Greenlee: I'm not ready to concede on that.

Kendall: Well, I guess I can't argue with you. Your instincts are better than mine.

Greenlee: I think so, too.

Ryan: Do you think Jackson made an impact?

Livia: We're about to find out.

Judge: I have had time to think over Mr. Montgomery's compelling argument, as well as the passion with which young Mr. Grey spoke about his father's killer, and I've reached a decision. While I am moved by everything that has been said here today, I'm afraid I am constrained by pragmatism. Given the overwhelming medical evidence in Mr. Lavery's case, I am forced to agree with the DA. No jury will convict this suspect, and any trial will be a waste of the people's time and resources. Therefore, despite my personal reservations, the court feels obliged to sign off on this plea.

Sam: No!

Julia: Sam!

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Would the court please consider probation or -- or court-enforced supervision, please, Your Honor?

Judge: I'm sorry, Mr. Montgomery, but as you know, there is no basis for that as that the man is not guilty. Mr. Lavery, you're free to go.

[Judge pounds gavel]

Ryan: Come on, Hockett, let's get out of here.

Jonathan: They -- they all hate me, Ryan, all of them. They all hate me.

Jack: I'm sorry, Sam. I'm so sorry.

Sam: This is so messed up.

Julia: I know, but it's happened. It's over. You just got to let it go.

Sam: Oh, yeah, sure, no problem, Aunt Julia. I'll just flip the switch in my brain that says "forget."

Aidan: Let me give you a piece of advice. Take your brother and get on the next plane out of this country.

Erin: No, we're not going anywhere. Ryan wants to stay near Greenlee, and we're staying with him. That's family.

Aidan: That's a big mistake.

Babe: Come on. Are you kidding me?

[Amanda watches Babe as she takes the stairs to leave the hospital due to a slow elevator.]

J.R.: So I guess I'll be seeing you two on Thanksgiving? Around 3:00?

Di: I'll be here.

J.R.: Of course you will.

Tad: I hope you're not getting a warm, fuzzy feeling about this.

Di: I'm not stupid, Tad. I know he's setting me up.

Tad: And you're still going through with it?

Di: If he needs to do this -- whatever this is -- then let him do it. It's not like I don't deserve it. Maybe if he punishes me enough, he'll finally be able to let it go.

[As Babe opens the door to descend the stairs, something causes her to tumble down forcefully until she lies unconscious at the bottom.]

David: Hey. Doesn't look like Madden's keeping anything from you. It all looks good, just as I thought.

Greenlee: Let me see. If my baby's so fine, what the hell is this?

Kendall: What's wrong?

Ryan: It's all over, Hockett. All the bad stuff is behind you. You finally have your second chance.

Erin: Welcome to your new life, Jonathan.

Jonathan: Is the bad really over?

[As the Lavery kids leave the building through the back, someone fires shots at them, sending them ducking behind a trash bin.]

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Kendall (to Erica): I'm divorcing Zach.

Erica: I don't think so.

Greenlee (to David): Is Kendall carrying Ryan's and my baby, or am I in love with someone else's child?

J.R.: Babe, if you can hear me, just listen. You're going to be fine, I swear. Some help down here!

[Sitting in her wheelchair, Amanda watches from the top of the stairs.]
