Ryan: So, Lily, you know where Greenlee is?
Lily: I have to correct my speech. I told my dad it would only be 27 minutes, but I think it'll be at least another 15 or so now.
Ryan: Well, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt.
Lily: No, don't be sorry. You're alive and that changes everything.
Erica: Is this really the way you want to begin Ryan's memorial?
Greenlee: Why not? Let's get it out -- one big, happy family getting bigger all the time.
Reggie: Well, where's the happy part at? Lily's going to want us all here when she reads her speech about Ryan.
Greenlee: You want the truth, you've got it.
Kendall: Ok, right between the eyes. You know what? This is just the grief talking, I'm sure, so excuse us. Excuse us.
Greenlee: I knew Erica would ruin this service.
Kendall: Hey, listen, she's here, so let's deal.
Greenlee: How? You know how she feels about the baby.
Kendall: So you want to tell Jack about it? You want fireworks at this service, that'll do it.
Greenlee: I just want this to be over -- all of it.
Kendall: Yes, ok, Greenlee, so do I. But right now is not the time to tell people that I've got Ryan's child in my womb.
Jack: Ok, ladies, huddle is over here. Now, I want to know what's going on, and I want the truth. Really, whatever it is, I can handle it.
Di: I've told so many lies. Now it's time for the truth. I've got to tell you.
J.R.: What? That you don't want to bake another batch of cookies? Whatever it is, I can deal.
Di: I hope so, J.R. I love you so much.
J.R.: That Garret Williams, did he -- did he touch you? Did he hurt you?
Di: No, no, it's nothing like that. I'm fine. It's just there are things we need to get out in the open.
Babe: Are you sure you want to do that, Dixie?
Greenlee: You're not going to like what I have to say.
Jack: Yeah, well, that's never stopped you before, now, has it?
Greenlee: Well, the good news is there's nothing you can do to interfere.
Zach: Do you want this to go away?
Kendall: I will owe you big.
Erica: Greenlee, no one wants to interfere in anything.
Greenlee: It's a wonder you're not struck dead on the spot. You're the queen of interfering.
Zach: Excuse me. Kendall would like a word.
Greenlee: She already had her word.
Zach: She'd like another one.
Erica: Kendall, please try to make Greenlee see some reason.
Zach: Come on. Excuse us.
Jack: Wait, wait -- no. Excuse me -- we're right in the middle -- what is going on in here? You know, don't you?
Erica: And I'll tell you, but not now, not until after Ryan's memorial.
Ryan: Lily, I don't mean to be a pain in the neck.
Lily: No, you can't be a pain in my neck. It's physically impossible. But I guess it's also impossible to come back to life. You know, you're the second miracle I've known. Bianca was the first when she was in the hospital, and she woke up after she fell from that balcony. Does it feel different to be a miracle?
Ryan: I'm not a miracle, Lily. So if you could just tell me where Greenlee is, I would really appreciate that.
Lily: I have to get back to my speech, and I can't if you keep talking to me.
Ryan: Ok, no more talking. I'll leave you alone completely if you'd just tell me where she is.
Lily: She's in Memorial Park by the fountains.
Ryan: Thank you. Thank you.
Lily: You're welcome.
J.R.: You know what my mother wants to tell me?
Babe: I'm not a psychic, J.R.
Di: J.R., it's all right.
Babe: You know, I didn't mean to interrupt this little mother-son moment that you've got going on here, but you have someplace you need to be. Kendall? Ryan Lavery's memorial service? You said you'd help her get through it. It's about to start.
J.R.: And last time I checked, you weren't my social secretary.
Babe: Right. It's none of my business. I get it.
Di: You know what? J.R., if Kendall needs you, don't let me keep you here.
J.R.: Family's more important.
Di: Well, friends can be just as important sometimes.
J.R.: She'll understand, Mom.
Di: Go to Kendall. I can wait.
J.R.: All right. But we're going to talk about this. You -- begone.
Di: So why'd you want J.R. out so badly?
Babe: I think you know.
Di: No, I'm not sure that I do.
Babe: I don't exactly have a lot of formal education, but I do have a gold star Ph.D. in making mistakes.
Di: Ok. I'll keep that in mind.
Babe: Look, I've hurt J.R. just as badly as you were about to. I mean, that's what this little moment was all about, right?
Di: Ok, whatever I was going to tell J.R. is really none of your business.
Babe: Oh, like hell it isn't. You were going to tell him that you're not his mom, and you think you're doing this great big, honking right thing, but I've earned the right to tell you. Don't do it.
Lily: "Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages, William Shakespeare wrote, 'Cowards die many times before death. The valiant never taste of death but once.' I don't know how death tastes, but maybe Ryan Lavery does. And since he's come back to life, maybe he can tell us. He is very valiant, and he is a miracle. Lazarus came back to life, but I don't know him. I do know Ryan, and he's very nice. His eyes are very blue. And I'm glad he's alive again, because Greenlee won't be sad and everyone will be happy to see him -- except for my father. He's not glad that Ryan is dead, but he's glad that Ryan's gone. I know it sounds confusing, but it makes sense when he explains it. Greenlee would say it's her business, not Dad's. And that's all I have to say, except welcome home, Ryan." Oh, it's not perfect, but I better get to the service before anything else happens, and I have to make more changes.
Reggie: Is Greenlee sad about Ryan or is she just upset with you, Erica?
Erica: Why don't we sit here? Why don't we sit right here with Tad? Tad, you mind if we join you?
Tad: I wish you would. Plenty of room. I thought the service was supposed to have started by now. Is there something wrong?
Erica: I don't think so.
Tad: Greenlee certainly tore out of here with Zach and Kendall. You know, if Slaterís causing you problems, I'd love to handle it.
Erica: No, it's just that Greenlee is so high-strung, you know, on the best of days.
Reggie: And Kendall is supposed to de-stress her? This service is never going to get started.
Jack: You know what? Lily should have been here by now.
Reggie: Well, you know, she's probably just making Ryan's speech perfect -- you know, how many times she beat him in chess, how many anchovies he likes on his pizza, stuff like that.
Tad: That's Lily -- honest to a fault. She deserves a medal.
Reggie: Depends on who you talk to, Tad. Sometimes taking the truth can be -- it can be hard sometimes.
Tad: Truer words -- are you sure everything's ok?
Erica: Well, it's a very, very difficult day for Greenlee.
Erica: But with all of Ryan's friends here, I'm sure that she'll get through.
David: So what's the holdup?
Tad: Oh, speaking of which -- you know what? Do me a favor -- go sit somewhere else, like Ohio.
Joe: I saw Greenlee leave with Kendall. Is there something I can do to help?
David: Is there something wrong with Greenlee?
Tad: You mean other than the fact that her husband's dead?
Erica: Joe, thank you, but actually, Kendallís taking care of Greenlee.
Opal: Yeah, with a little help from her husband. I mean, what was Zach doing here anyway? I thought that critter and Ryan couldn't stand the sight of each other.
Zach: Greenlee, not now.
Greenlee: Stay out of this.
Zach: I know you're angry, under a lot of stress --
Greenlee: No, I won't be as soon as Erica and Jack are gone.
Zach: This is not the time to start World War III.
Greenlee: I don't plan to.
Kendall: Well, you will if you blab to Jack. If he finds out that I am pregnant with Ryan's baby, he's going to freak out.
Greenlee: What's the big deal? He's going to find out about this sooner rather than later.
Zach: Yeah, go ahead, tell Jack. It'll make you feel better. What about Kendall? He's going to put her through hell.
Greenlee: Well, Kendall doesn't care what Jack thinks. And I'm not going to let him anywhere near her. She's going to be in an Erica-and-Jack-free zone for the next nine months -- no lectures, no finger shaking, no stress, so let's start that zone right now.
Kendall: No, please, please, Greenlee. Just listen to Zach, ok? If you want to tell Jack, I'm right there with you, but not here.
Greenlee: Jack shouldn't even be here. He hates Ryan. He'll probably get up there and trash him and ruin it for everyone who does love my husband.
Kendall: Ok, listen, slow down, all right? Why don't we do what Lily does?
Greenlee: Count every blade of grass in the park?
Kendall: No, no. You know how she separates her vegetables from her meat and her dessert? One thing at a time, Greenlee. Ok? Today is not about us. It's about Ryan, not about you and me or Erica and Jack.
Greenlee: Ryan hated hypocrites. This place is full of them.
Kendall: Ryan doesn't care who shows up here as long as you are front and center. I mean, you two had the kind of magic that no one could bust into, not even today.
Greenlee: We did. God, I hate using the past tense.
Kendall: Ok, please, please let this go. Please don't tell them I'm pregnant.
Erin: I love you.
Jonathan: What's -- what's that for?
Erin: Papa Furkel.
Jonathan: Oh. I remem -- I remember him.
Erin: Uh-huh. He was blue and he was fuzzy.
Jonathan: They were all blue.
Erin: Ha. Remember that day that you wished Papa Furkel was your real dad?
Jonathan: We laughed --
Jonathan: Too loud. Dad -- Dad had a o -- overhang. Hangover. I didn't mean to make him bad -- mad.
Erin: I know.
Erin: I know.
Jonathan: I made Greenlee mad, and she doesn't get a -- get over -- hang-- hangovers.
Erin: Well, there are all different kinds of hangovers. You know, not -- not all of them are from drinking too much. Some of them are from remembering too much -- too much pain and hurt.
Jonathan: I hurt a lot of people -- Greenlee and Kendall, Lily. So many. That's a lot to fix. Can Ryan -- can Ryan fix it all?
Erin: Well, we can cross our fingers that Ryan gets through to Greenlee and everyone else. But we ought to be prepared, Jonathan. You know, there's a real good chance that nobody will be willing to forget.
Jonathan: Even -- Greenlee?
Erin: We won't know until it happens.
Erin: Hmm. Sometimes love isn't enough.
Jonathan: It's very complex-cated, com -- complex-cated.
Erin: It's way complex-cated. And it kind of makes me wish that Papa Furkel was here right now to make everything all right.
Jonathan: We'd all be -- we'd all be blue.
Greenlee: For Ryan and Little Ryan. It's the only reason I'm doing this.
Kendall: It's the right thing. I'm proud of you.
Kendall: Thank you for helping me with Greenlee.
Zach: I don't know how much help I was.
Kendall: Well, she didn't combust. Her head is still together. She's making nice.
Zach: I can't control Greenlee. But I did promise to see you through this pregnancy.
Kendall: I thought it was limited to middle-of-the-night cravings.
Zach: Whatever you want.
Kendall: I have some handholding I have to do.
Zach: I'll be close.
J.R.: How you holding up?
Kendall: Hmm. Come here. You are just in time to stop me from falling apart at the seams.
J.R.: Well, you look totally together to me.
Kendall: I just want this to be over with. I wish it was tomorrow.
J.R.: I know. Saying good-bye is never easy.
Kendall: Yeah, but this particular adios has the hair on the back of my neck standing at attention. It's not a good sign.
J.R.: Yeah. Well, don't worry. If anything explodes, I'll make sure it doesn't get on you.
Greenlee: Ryan would be so happy to see you here. He liked nothing better than a party. No noisemakers or conga lines, but we are here to celebrate my husband's life. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to do this. It's my fault. Having a service means it's official -- Ryan's gone. And I couldn't handle that. Maybe I still can't. Oh. I spent a lot of time alone when I was young. Reality didn't work, I made it up myself. I closed my eyes, and Daddy was reading me a story, and Mommy was brushing my hair. No one to play with? I made them up, and it worked for a while. Try it. Close your eyes. I see Ryan, happy, teaching me how to fly a kite. He holds on to the kite, and he tells me to run. And I do. He lets go and the kite goes up into the air, higher and higher, and I can hear him laughing. I turn around and I say, "Look, Ryan, I did it." But he's not there. Look around. No Ryan. He's gone. But we can share our memories of him and cherish what a treasure he really was.
Lily: Hi. Where's Ryan?
[Ryan hides behind the bushes near the site of his memorial.]
Di: I don't know where you get your information, but I am J.R.ís mother.
Babe: You hold on to that, but I know who you really are. David told me.
Di: Well, David's not really my biggest fan. He'd say a lot of things if it made my life more difficult.
Babe: You're right. David isn't one for the truth, but this? This is rock solid. You are Dixieís half sister. So either you can keep denying the truth or we can get to it.
Di: Get to what exactly?
Babe: I hurt J.R. I told him that his baby had died, and I still am dealing with the fallout. Now, the only thing equal with telling him his baby died is if you tell him his mama died.
Di: But it's the truth.
Babe: You haven't come clean so far. Why start now?
Di: As hard as it'll be, I think it's going to be best for everyone if it just comes out.
Babe: And think you're wrong. Yeah, Jamie will go off, but he'll power through it and be ok, but J.R.? This is going to send him on a demolition path, and maybe you're cool with that, but we are talking total destruction here.
Di: Oh, no, the last thing I want to do is hurt J.R. I love him like my own son. I feel the same about Little Adam, and I love Jamie, Tad. This is the first real family I've known.
Babe: I understand how much you love them. And you want to do right. I've been guilty of the same thing with my son. Only it blew up in my face. I messed up by holding on to a lie. You could mess up just as badly by letting one go.
Di: Ok, I don't need the lecture, Babe.
Babe: Ok, so what? So what?
Di: I'm going to tell them everything.
Babe: J.R. just, what, you let him crash and burn? You should have learned by now. If your son suffers, everyone suffers.
Di: Oh. Oh, you almost had me, Babe. I thought this was you trying to save J.R.ís heart and soul, but it's just about you. If J.R. gets slammed, that means you get slammed harder -- less time with your son.
Babe: You're right. It is about my son, because he's who I care about. I want him happy, and in order for that to happen, he needs to have a father who's happy and stable. And, yeah, J.R. may hate me, but it doesn't mean I want him to be some walking corpse. So this is up to you. You love J.R.? Don't tell him. Oh, what, so that's it? You're just going to walk away like that?
Krystal: She's not going anywhere.
Jack: Sweetheart, you -- you know Ryan's dead.
Lily: No, I just saw him 16 minutes ago.
Jack: That's -- that's not possible.
Lily: No, Dad, I'm not lying.
Jack: If this is about ghosts --
Lily: It's not, Dad, it's not.
Jack: We are interrupting the service, ok, so please?
Lily: I'm sorry. I'll sit down, but this does not make any sense at all.
Greenlee: I wish Lily was right. I wish Ryan was here. I wish so many things. I -- I wish --
Erica: Ryan -- Ryan was the kind of person who was just impossible to forget. And it's easy to ask where is Ryan, because I think all of us here in this setting, we just all half expect Ryan to walk into a room or -- or to call us just to see how we're doing. Over the course of time, I was lucky to get to know Ryan and his goodness and his loyalty and his passion for life and for his wife.
Ryan: Get your hands off me.
Zach: Why the hell are you here?
Ryan: Change of plans, Zach.
Zach: Your wife is finally coming to terms with you being dead and now you want to come in here and say, "Hi, honey, I'm home"?
Ryan: I had no idea she'd be having a memorial service right this second.
Zach: You're dead. Stay that way.
Ryan: You know, whether I live or die, it's not your call, Zach. I know what I'm doing.
Zach: Yeah? What are you going to do? Destroy what is left of that woman's heart? If you love her, if you want what's best for her, then love her from the other side, but let her live her life.
Ryan: I will, and if I'm lucky, I'll be part of it.
Zach: You'll be -- you're out of your mind. You have no idea what you've done to this woman.
Ryan: I know exactly what I've done -- that's why I'm here. I'm trying to make it right, Zach, and yes, I realize everyone will hate me for what I've done, but I have to do this, and you're not part of it, so back off. This is between me and my wife.
Erica: Ryan loved you very much. Don't ever forget that. We'll never forget him.
Ryan: You phony son of a bitch. Forget about the concern for Greenlee. You're afraid that I will name you as my partner in crime, the man who made it possible for me to disappear.
Zach: Oh, it's an interesting theory.
Ryan: Well, let me ease your conscience. As small as it may be, I'm not going to tell anybody that you hid me in your shed or you supplied the ID to help me disappear.
Zach: You know what works for me? You, dead -- that works.
Ryan: Yeah, I bet it does. Well, don't worry, Zach. I'm not going to rat you out.
Zach: God, you're so hot for the big reveal, aren't you? Running into Greenlee's arms in slow motion. Well, wait a little bit, would you? Not now, not here, not like this.
Greenlee: My sister Lily has been eager to share what Ryan meant to us.
[Seeing the stunned expression on Greenlee's face, everyone turns around and stares at Ryan who slowly walks toward his wife. Once he reaches her, Greenlee faints in his arms.]
Simone: Oh, my --
Opal: I never saw this in the tarot. That is a bona fide miracle.
Lily: That's what I was talking about, Daddy. He's alive.
Jamie: I don't know how much more of this back-from-the-dead stuff I can take.
Simone: You see him, too, right? It's not just me?
Ethan: Oh. Hey. Hey, hey.
Joe: Simone, are you all right?
Simone: Yeah, I'm fine. I -- no, I'm not.
Joe: All right.
Simone: It's Ryan.
Joe: Why don't you take her someplace quiet --
Simone: How is he --
Joe: Where she can sit, maybe put her head down, get her blood flowing? Ok?
Ethan: It's ok. Honey, come on.
Brooke: Well, it's official. Now I've seen everything.
Tad: I thought I was over the whole miracle thing. This could make me a believer.
Jack: My God, maybe all this is just a mirage.
Lily: Why does everyone look so surprised? I told you I saw Ryan.
Reggie: Lily, it's one thing to hear it. It's a whole other thing to see it for yourself.
Ryan: It's ok. I'm here. I'm real. I love you. And this is not a dream.
Greenlee: It was you.
Ryan: Yes. I'm really back.
Jonathan: I was -- I was ready for Pine Val -- Valley.
Erin: Well, there are a lot of ways that we can make a new home, you know? We can flip a coin or go with the wind, you know? Whatever. Wherever the three of us are, that will be home.
Jonathan: No. No, Ryan -- Ryan missing Greenlee --
Erin: Well, if it goes that way, yeah. Ryan will miss Greenlee a lot. And we will have to help him through that.
Jonathan: What if --
Erin: Jonathan? Jonathan? Hey. Hey. Are you ok?
Jonathan: Yeah. Yeah, sure.
Erin: What if what?
Jonathan: Home for Ryan is Green-- Greenlee. What if she -- will Greenlee forgive Ryan?
Krystal: I've seen up close what life-and-death lies can do.
Di: Oh, but you're ok with this particular lie?
Krystal: Part of me wants to wring your neck and shout the truth from the rooftops. But look at J.R. Would you look at the nasty that Adam has twisted into that young boy? J.R. at his nastiest is nothing but the sum total of Adamís worst.
Babe: Ten times worse if it isn't stopped.
Krystal: But under your influence, J.R. has a real good chance of learning to let that go. What we saw -- J.R. sharing Little Adam with Jamie -- that was for you. That was because of you. So now you want to go all honest? Oh, come on. Don't bail now. Don't flush it all down the toilet.
Di: What? Just keep the secret for the greater good? Hasn't this tripped you all up before?
Krystal: You know what? You start singing that you're not Dixie, and you are going to overnight this family to hell. And if that wasn't bad enough, you're going to break Tad's heart.
Di: I can't save Tad from the truth. It's too late.
Krystal: He knows?
Di: And he says if I don't tell the truth, he will.
Krystal: Tad knows all? And he's ready to bust you wide open?
Di: Yeah, he made it real clear. Either I tell everyone I am Di Henry, or he will. And Tad won't live with the lie. I don't blame him.
Babe: But there's a whole lot more to lose if you blab the truth.
Di: Well, Tad's already lost J.R. once with the last secret he kept.
Babe: J.R.ís actually on his way to becoming a real human. And if Tad blows this out of the water, we're going to be back to where we started or worse. We're all going to be in his line of fire.
Di: Well, I'll be first in his sights. But if -- if the truth is what Tad needs because of the past, then lets --
Krystal: Well, damn the past. The future is sinking fast.
Babe: Mama, where are you going?
Krystal: I'm going to go smack some sense into Thaddeus Martin.
Tad: Nothing like a resurrection to punch up a memorial service.
Jamie: This is just as weird as Dixie coming back -- in a good way. I mean, you got the love of your life back, and now Greenlee has hers.
Tad: Some resurrections are more successful than others.
J.R.: Hey, hey. You look queasy. Maybe you should sit down.
Kendall: The -- the chair looks real. It feels real. I sit on it, it'll probably disappear. The sky's probably green, the grass is blue.
J.R.: Look, Dr. Joe might be able to give you something for the shock.
Kendall: No, I don't need anything. It's just -- everything I thought I knew, I don't.
J.R.: I don't get it. You're crazy about the guy. You should be doing a "Ryan back from the grave" happy dance.
Kendall: I'm afraid. And I don't even know why.
Opal: This is just downright spooky. I mean, especially so close to Dixie coming back from the other side.
Brooke: You mean the Atlantic?
Opal: You know what I meant. I mean, look at him. He's supposed to be dead. He looks strong and healthy as a young bull. You think this is God's work or the devil's?
Greenlee: Is it really you?
Ryan: It's really me. I love you, Greenlee. It's all right.
Erica: Ryan, welcome home. If anyone could come back to us, it's you. Ryan, can you tell us what happened? Where were you? Who saved you?
Zach: There he is. Ryan the hero, back in town.
Simone: This is amazing, Ryan. It's like a movie. Only it could actually be a movie. And you could, you know, play yourself, this incredible hunk who returns. Isn't it amazing?
Ethan: Mind-boggling. I mean, you went over a -- a cliff. How did you survive all these months?
Opal: Must have been the pure power of prayer that brought you back. What other explanation is there?
Ryan: A very long one. And I will tell you everything. I know, it's crazy. But I'll explain everything.
Lily: Can I say my speech now?
Jack: This is -- this is probably not a good time.
Lily: But my speech is the only one that talks about Ryan being alive and not dead. It says how much he loves her and how happy she'll be to have him back. Why are her eyes wet if she's happy?
Reggie: Lily, I'll explain it to you later, ok?
Opal: You can't keep us in suspense, Ryan. You've got to tell us every single tiny detail.
Ryan: I will. I'll tell you everything, but it's going to have to wait, because I have to be alone with my wife.
Jack: Well, we could certainly all use some answers.
Ryan: And you'll get them, Jack. You have my word, but I need to be alone with my wife.
Greenlee: I need to be alone with you, too.
Erica: You go ahead, Ryan. And if there's anything you need, you just let us know.
J.R.: What's with you? You didn't even welcome him back. It seems -- no, what it looks like is that you still wish that he was dead.
Kendall: Of course I'm glad that he's alive. But this whole miraculous return feels like a total lie.
Tad: Hey, wait. What is wrong with you? Where's your respect for the undead? How many times in a life do you get to witness something like Ryan's miracle?
Krystal: How many times does someone get to change his mind and save all kinds of lives?
Tad: I walked into this one mid conversation.
Krystal: Leave Di alone. Let her be Dixie Cooney.
Di: You don't get a vote in this, Babe. All you can do is hope for the best.
Babe: You were my hope for the best. And now you want to stomp it to pieces.
Di: Well, it's not like I have a ton of choices.
Babe: You came along and -- and you worked your magic on J.R. and for the first time, people around here finally started acting like a family instead of mad dogs. I really thought you were the answer to a lot of prayers.
Di: Be careful what you pray for.
Erin: I never really had much faith in love, you know? I mean, Greenlee came to see me. You should have heard her. She swore that she would never, ever be with anyone again. She said that the love she had with Ryan would last her a lifetime.
Jonathan: Love conquers --
Erin: All? I don't know. But I read somewhere that the heart can fool the mind. So Ryan's hurt Greenlee a lot, you know, maybe -- maybe more than most people could take. But it's not totally impossible that right now she's kissing Ryan and forgiving him for anything he ever did.
Ryan: You ok?
Greenlee: I'm perfect now.
Ryan: I missed you so much.
Greenlee: Kiss me.
Ryan: Greenlee, I have to tell you everything.
Greenlee: After you kiss me.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Erica (to Zach): You're not going to look so smug when Ryan finds out that my daughter is carrying his baby.
Kendall (to Lily): I need you to tell me about the night you saw Ryan's ghost.
Greenlee (to Ryan): I want you. You said whatever I want. I want you.
[Ryan scoops up Greenlee and begins to carry her up the stairs.]
