All My Children Transcript Monday 3/21/05

Ryan: Jonathan, what bomb? What bomb? Tell me, Hocket. Did Braden plant a bomb?
Jonathan: Greenlee. Greenlee.
[A bomb under Edmund's coffin is set to detonate in less than 10 minutes.]
Tad: Edmund and I didn't always agree on things. Actually, sometimes it got pretty loud. Because the truth is, we were both always right.
Tad: But he was a wise person. Somehow he always knew when to pull back on the reins and say, "It's all right. Don't worry about it. We'll work it out later." And now it seems we'll never have the time.
Zach: The Erica Kane to help my defense. I'm honored.
Erica: Don't be. I know you didn't kill Edmund.
Zach: You sound so convincing.
Erica: Don't put me off. I've been where you are. I've confessed to a murder I didn't commit to protect my daughter Kendall. I am not going to let your confession destroy her.
Tad: Edmund always lived life large. Very large. Whether he was beating me at pool or arguing a point or wearing a dress --
Tad: He always did things to the fullest. That's exactly the way he loved his wife --
[Joe's pager beeps]
Tad: His children, and all of us. He was always busy. Seemed to me like he was always chasing down some lead or writing a story. Well, my friend, this is one story you would have loved to write.
Ryan: Jonathan, what about Greenlee? What about Greenlee and a bomb? That's what you said. I need to hear more, all right? I need you to open your eyes. Yeah, come on. Please try. Jonathan, open your eyes!
Doctor: We need to get him into surgery.
Ryan: Could you give me a minute, please?
Doctor: His condition is critical!
Ryan: Really? What about a bomb? Would that buy me a little bit more time?
Aidan: Sorry, what?
Ryan: Yeah, and he's the only one who knows where it is, so now do you want to cooperate?
Doctor: He's sedated!
Aidan: I think we should give them a minute.
Ryan: Jonathan, come on, wake up. Tell me where it is. Where did Braden put the bomb, Jonathan? Answer me. Answer me.
Tad: The story is you, Edmund. You're a class act, headline news, front-page stuff. How you touched our lives, how we'll never forget you. How you taught us courage and strength with every word you ever spoke or wrote. You'll be with us always.
Ryan: Ok. All right, Jonathan, I need you to help me stop Braden. All right, we need to find the bomb.
Ryan: That's right. That's right, Braden. Braden -- you got to help me find him, all right? Where did Braden put the bomb? Open your eyes, please. We're losing him.
Ryan: I'm losing him. I'm losing him. You got to focus here, ok? You can do this, Jonathan. You can do this.
Jonathan: There's a bomb.
Ryan: Come on, don't do this to me, man. Don't do this to me. Wake up. Wake up.
Brooke: This is the second funeral I've attended for Edmund. Only this time he's not going to walk through the door and share a good laugh about it. He saved me so many times.
Brooke: He saved me from bad decisions, from being too serious, from quicksand once. And he taught me a lot. No one could've been a better friend --
Woman: Mr. Chandler?
J.R.: Yeah, who's this?
Woman: I'm calling from the penitentiary, for Krystal Carey.
J.R.: What's the matter? She can't call herself?
Woman: She needs to see you right away. It's an emergency.
J.R.: Wait a minute. Is this some sort of joke?
Woman: You need to get out here as soon as you can.
J.R.: Hey, wait -- wait a second. Hey, who is this?
Brooke: How many times did Edmund put himself on the line for a story, for his family, his friends? Even heroes have bad days. When he lost the use of his legs, he struggled to find a way. And he never gave up. He never backed down. He was a complicated man. And peace didn't always come easily to Edmund. I hope he's found it.
Priest: Let us remember, Edmund's life is changed, not ended. So let us remember the joy of happier days.
Sam: Excuse me, Father. I've got something to say. My dad was the greatest. He taught us to ride, to ice-skate. When were little, he had to be our mom, too, for a while. Dad showed us every day how much he loved us -- me, Maddie, my mom. When he was paralyzed, he took it on. He taught us how to deal with it. He even promised to take us skiing and swore that he would beat me. He probably would have. Dad showed no fear, no doubt. He took it on to make it easier for us. It couldn't have been easy, especially when my mom wrote him off and found another guy.
Zach: What? If I lie about killing Edmund, I destroy Kendall? You -- you lost me, I'm sorry.
Erica: My daughter is extremely involved with your son, Ethan. She seems to think that he can do no wrong.
Zach: Lucky Ethan.
Erica: If she finds out that he lied to her about something this huge just to smack Daddy --
Zach: Now, come on. You know, you would love it if they broke up.
Erica: I am not really happy about their relationship, no. But I certainly don't want to see her trust in him just pulled out from under her.
Zach: And you won't. I'm here, Kendall is safe. So is the rest of the world.
Erica: I call your bluff. Lily saw your picture in the newspaper, along with that article about Edmund. She was mesmerized. She looked at it over and over again, and she kept on saying I saw it wrong. "He didn't do it."
Zach: So you got all dressed up and came down here because a little girl read the paper?
Erica: Because you warned me to keep Lily safe.
Zach: She's an innocent girl.
Erica: And now your extreme concern for her safety makes a lot of sense. You didn't do it. But somebody else did, and you know that somebody else is out there. It would certainly help if you would tell the truth.
Zach: What kind of a man would cop to a murder he didn't commit?
Erica: You. And I know why. Your son.
Sam: I thought that my family was solid. Turns out Mom went back to the guy she was living with when we thought she was dead! When my dad tucked us in every night, Mom was getting it on with Zach Slater!
Tad: Sam, don't.
Sam: I think everyone should hear this. You just said my dad was all about getting the real deal, right?
Tad: Sam --
Anita: Sam, please, stop.
Isabella: Sam, come with us.
Sam: My father is dead because of her!
Anita: Come on, let's go.
Ryan: Jonathan? Hocket, can you hear me?
Aidan: He's out cold.
Ryan: Hocket? It's me. It's your brother, Ryan. Can you hear me, man? I just need you to open your eyes, all right? We got to find this bomb! Can you hear me?
Joe: All right, what's going on?
Ryan: Joe -- Joe, I need you to help us, all right? Jonathan's been stabbed, and there's a bomb.
Aidan: And he knows where it is.
Ryan: Right, and we need him to wake up. We need to find out where it is. We need you to help us.
Joe: Hold on, hold on.
Ryan: Come on, stay with us, man. Stay with us. Stay with us. Here we go.
[Joe places smelling salts under Jonathan's nose.]
Joe: Jonathan, can you hear me? Open your eyes.
Ryan: That's it. That's it, man. That's it, yeah. Tell us where the bomb is, all right? Where did Braden put the bomb?
Jonathan: Greenlee, Kendall, Maria -- everyone there. Everyone.
Ryan: Oh, my God.
[The bomb under Edmund's coffin ticks down to less than 5 minutes.]
Woman: What's the matter? Too good for us?
Woman: What you reading?
Krystal: Get lost.
Woman: And miss out on the chance to serve Madam C? There must be something I can do for you, short of snatching a kid.
Krystal: Well, I could do without some of these ugly mugs around here. But, hey, other than that -- I’d show you my happy dance, but I'm afraid I just might kick you by accident.
Woman: Accidents happen around here every day.
Krystal: Well, just remind me to wear my safety belt, then.
Guard: Carey, you got a visitor.
Krystal: You mind? Well, looks like you got yourself a fan club, pretty boy.
J.R.: Well, Krystal, you're quite a vision in orange polyester and bad hair.
Krystal: Thank you. You come all this way just to compliment me?
J.R.: No, one of your friends here called me. Said it was urgent. So you want to tell me what's going on?
Krystal: Well, honey, you got punked. I didn't ask for you, don't want to see you.
J.R.: Why don't you fess up? You brought me down here to play me. So you might as well take your best shot because it is nothing compared to the smackdowns that I've been hitting Babe with.
[Adam attempts to access Tad's computer to determine Liza and Colby’s whereabouts.]
Adam: Damn, damn, damn!
David: Oh, brother. You are so predictable.
Adam: What in blazes are you doing here?
David: Just following your lead, Adam.
Adam: Shouldn't you be off cleaning toilets somewhere?
David: The only thing I want to flush is your son. I'm here about my daughter. J.R. needs to be stopped, Adam, and you are going to help me do it.
Adam: You have a box outside? You going to post me to Yakville if I don't cooperate?
David: I know I don't have to tell you that J.R. is out of control, Adam.
Adam: Well, until J.R. drugs people and ships them out of the country in a crate, I'd say he's playing well within the bounds.
David: Anything J.R. throws my way, I can deal with it. But since he continues to go after my daughter, it's time for me to say enough's enough.
Adam: I applaud everything J.R. has done to you and to Babe and to that piece of trash you have behind bars.
David: Shut up about Krystal!
Adam: You know, it's pathetic. You actually have a crush on that Carey tramp.
David: I'm not kidding, Adam.
Adam: Tell me this, tell me this. Is it true? Does absence make the heart grow fonder?
David: I guess if anyone could answer that question, Adam, it's you, isn't it? I mean, every time you see J.R. with his child, that must feel like someone's kicked you in the gut. I mean, there he is, J.R. holding his son in his arms. And your daughter, nowhere to be found. That's why you're here, isn't it, Adam? Hoping to find a clue as to Colby’s whereabouts? Your desperation is showing.
David: My point is this. I can help you. I know how to find Liza and your daughter.
J.R.: You know, Krystal, you've missed so much. I've had Tad's PI license yanked. I've watched David clean everything except the bottom of my shoes. Jamie's been expelled from PVU. Seems he and Babe are getting ready to move into some love nest, and I figured I'd better buy the building to get them evicted before they moved in. I've got their whole world in my hands, and that's a beautiful thing.
Krystal: Yeah, well, enjoy it, Junior. Your luck is not going to last forever.
J.R.: You know, I was thinking about getting a magician for little Adam's birthday.
Krystal: No, now -- now, Babe is seeing her son on that day.
J.R.: Yeah, maybe he's too young to enjoy one. Besides, I don't need magic to make Babe disappear. I already have my lawyers working on that.
Krystal: You would deny Babe the joy of seeing her son on his birthday?
J.R.: After what she's denied me, there is no way that I would let her watch my son blow out his first candle.
Krystal: Don't you dare keep her from him!
J.R.: Or you'll what?
Guard: Back off, Carey!
Krystal: You piece of crap! You gutless wonder!
Guard: Step off, Carey!
[During the struggle, a sharp object falls to the floor.]
Guard: You learn fast. Nice shiv. Sharp.
J.R.: Is that what you brought me down here for? You brought me down here to kill me?
Erica: You lied to Ethan. You humiliated him. You denied him. He hates you, and he wants revenge. So when he conveniently found you with Edmund's body, he went for it. He swore that you were the murderer, and you let him.
Zach: Well, innocent or guilty, I'm still the villain, right?
Erica: I know why you lied. To test Ethan. You dared him to hold his hand over the flame.
Zach: You have all the answers, don't you?
Erica: Look, stop it. Please stop it before any more damage is done. You're not guilty of murder, but you are guilty of something else. You're guilty of keeping this Cambias curse alive.
Zach: Now you can stop.
Erica: And this Cambias curse -- this is not about power or money or anything else. This is about fathers and sons. The father destroys the son, and the son destroys the father.
Brooke: Are you ok?
Maria: Mm-hmm, yeah.
Brooke: Are you sure?
Maria: Yeah, I'm all right, thank you. Uh -- I just want to apologize for my son. He's -- he's devastated, so -- it's just been very -- for everyone. I'm so sorry, Edmund. I'm so sorry. God, I didn't mean to do this, Edmund.
Tad: It's ok. It's ok. Come on. Come on.
Priest: And so, into your hands we commend the spirit of Edmund Grey, a man who gave so generously of himself and was so deeply loved by so many. May a choir of angels lead you to paradise and life everlasting. Amen.
Livia: Let it breathe on me
All: Let it breathe on me let the breath of the lord now breathe on me let it breathe on me let it breathe
Ryan: Can I -- I'm so sorry. Can I have everybody's attention, please? There's an emergency!
Palmer: Man, have you no respect?
Ryan: I'm going to have to ask everybody to get out of here now, please! I'll explain later! Please, just trust me!
Greenlee: Ryan, my God, what happened?
Ryan: You got to go, Greenlee. Just go.
Opal: This is the strangest funeral I have ever been to.
Myrtle: What on earth is going on?
Tad: This better be good.
Aidan: There's a bomb.
Derek: Where? I'm going to go call the bomb squad.
Aidan: Sir, I've already done that. They're on their way.
Ryan: Go, Greenlee, go. I'll explain later. Please, just go!
Maria: Ryan, what's wrong with you?
Ryan: Maria, this has to be done. You have to trust me, ok?
Maria: You've got to have some reason for this!
Ryan: Listen to me! There's a bomb.
Derek: I want everyone out before the bomb squad arrives. We don't want a panic.
Aidan: Everybody, you got to clear the area. Just grab your things and just keep moving.
Livia: What is going on?
Derek: Livia, I will tell you later.
Danielle: Daddy, you're freaking me out.
Derek: Go, now, both of you. Come on.
Aidan: That's it, one line.
Jack: Come on.
Greenlee: No, I need to talk to Ryan.
Jack: No, no, no -- look, I don't know what's going on here, but I do know you're coming with me right now. Let's go. Let's go.
Greenlee: Ryan --
Ryan: Come on, let's go. Please, you got to go.
Maria: There's a bomb in here? How is this happening?
Ryan: Just trust me, all right? Please leave.
Maria: No, I don't want to leave Edmund.
Derek: Come on, people, let's go.
Maria: I want to stay.
Ryan: This is no time to be stubborn. Please, will you take care of Maria?
Kendall: Yes, of course. What's going on?
Ethan: Listen, I'm going to catch up to you.
Kendall: All right.
Ethan: Come on, what is going on? Huh? Ryan?
Officer: Let's secure the location.
Ethan: All right, what is going on?
Officer: Out of here!
Ryan: Not without my friend. Ethan, give me a hand here!
Erica: Your father tried to break you. You faked your death, destroyed him instead. Well, now you have a son. You denied him, you tormented him. Now he's out to decimate you. And he won't rest until you have a life sentence hanging around your neck. You must be so proud.
Zach: That's enough.
Erica: No, it's never enough for a Cambias.
Zach: Get out!
Erica: Zach, you have the power to change this. Just tell the truth about Edmund's murder. Force Ethan to tell the truth. If not, you both lose.
Zach: The morning after Edmund was killed, I told Maria. I told her I didn't do it. And then Ethan came in and said he saw it. And she was convinced. My word meant nothing.
Erica: So it's a pride thing?
Zach: No. Ethan, Maria -- they wanted me to be guilty. They needed me to be guilty. How could I deny them?
Maria: I just don't think this is the time that I should be walking away from Edmund. I feel like I should --
Kendall: No, no, you can't. You have to stay here.
Maria: I know, but I owe it to him to be in there with him. It doesn't matter to me.
Myrtle: Darling, Edmund knows that you loved him just as much as he loved you.
Maria: Myrtle, you don't understand. I let him down so many times.
Myrtle: You did not --
Maria: This is not the time.
Myrtle: No, darling.
Greenlee: I want to be with Ryan.
Jack: And Ryan wants you to stay here, so here is where you will stay.
Greenlee: Something is wrong. I want to know what's going on.
Jack: We all want to know what's going on.
Maria: It's a bomb.
Derek: Cordon off the area. If you don't find it, widen your perimeter.
Ryan: Come on, let's get Edmund out of here.
Tad: I'm with you.
Officer: Don't touch that! I don't care what Frye says. I want you all gone.
Aidan: We're not going anywhere without our friend.
Officer: You might join him if you stick around here.
Ryan: All right, we're on our way. Ethan, give us a hand here.
Ethan: This man helped me. I'd like to return the favor.
Aidan: Hang on, wait. He's right.
Greenlee: Braden did it. Braden must have planted it. He wanted me dead.
Kendall: Hey, don't make this all about you. Ethan's in there, too.
Greenlee: So is Ryan.
Jack: Look, we wait, is what we -- so what the hell is going on, Ethan?
Ethan: Ok, they found the bomb, and the bomb squad is in the process of defusing it.
Maria: Oh, my God.
Greenlee: How's Ryan? Is he ok?
Ethan: He's fine. He's letting the bomb squad do their thing.
Kendall: Thank God you're ok.
Maria: Thank God the kids are safe.
Krystal: Darling, you have been through enough today. Do you want me to clear this room?
Maria: No, no, I got it. I got it. Thank you. Everyone, please, I -- I don't know what to say, really. But thank you for coming. Thank you for your friendship. I really don't want any long good-byes right now. I'm kind of not up for it. So --
Brooke: Are you sure you're ok?
Maria: Yeah, I am. Thank you.
Brooke: Because I can stay.
Brooke: All right, all right.
Opal: I am so sorry about everything.
Maria: This is crazy.
Kendall: Excuse me. Now, come on, you. What is going on here? Who -- who did this?
Ethan: Maria knows. Don't you, Maria? So do I. This is Zach Slater.
Greenlee: He's in jail.
Ethan: Wouldn't stop him. Look, he's never going to let Edmund rest in peace. The guy had somebody plant the bomb, and now he's only finishing what he started.
Krystal: Maria, you don't believe Zach did this?
Maria: No, if you had heard him describe in detail to me how he killed Edmund, you would know that he is capable of anything.
Erica: Just tell them. You didn't kill him.
Zach: You won't give up, will you?
Erica: You know I won't.
Zach: I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't intend to say a word.
Erica: Then I will. You want to be a martyr for your son, for Maria, get a hair shirt. But this is over. You are playing a sick and dangerous game, and I am not going to let my daughter Kendall get caught in the middle of it.
Zach: Because you love her. You know what? You can't save a child that doesn't want to be saved.
Ethan: It's over.
Kendall: Is it really?
Ethan: Yes. Nobody is going to hurt you, ok? I promise, not while I'm around.
Greenlee: I need to see Ryan.
Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa -- Greenlee, listen to me. There is nothing you can do.
Greenlee: Yes, I can see him, I can hold him, I can see that he's alive!
Jack: Sweetheart --
Greenlee: Oh, thank God you're all right.
Ryan: Yeah, well, I promised you I would be, didn't I?
Maria: Ryan, what is going --
Ryan: Look, the bomb is taken care of, and Edmund is in the mausoleum. Maria, I am so sorry.
Maria: I just can't believe Zach did this.
Ethan: Who else?
Ryan: My brother Braden.
Myrtle: Oh, my God.
Jack: That lousy son of a --
Greenlee: Ryan, how do you know?
Ryan: Because Jonathan told me.
Kendall: Oh, so of course you believe it.
Ryan: He told me right before he went into surgery, Kendall.
Greenlee: Jonathan went into surgery?
Ryan: Yes. He was stabbed, also by Braden.
Greenlee: Oh, my God, Ryan, that could happen to ---
Ryan: Look, Greenlee, honestly, it's nothing, ok?
Greenlee: No, no, no, no. No. Braden did this to you?
Jack: Damn you, Ryan. You said you were going to take care of this. You promised to protect my daughter. Now Jonathan's stabbed, you're shot, the bomb could have blown the rest of us to smithereens!
Greenlee: Stop it.
Jack: You know what I want you to do? I want you to turn around, leave this place. Go buy a net. Throw it over your psycho brother, and bring him back to me! After you're done with that, then you can see my daughter again. Until then, stay away from her.
Greenlee: Ryan, don't listen to him.
Ryan: No, he's right. I should go.
David: Not even an idiot like Tad is stupid enough to leave a paper trail. My offer still stands, but not for long.
Adam: Yeah, you offered to shorten my life last time we met. Not interested.
David: Yes, I know, you hate my guts. Believe me, the feeling is mutual. But we both hate Tad even more. So why don't you let me help you?
Adam: Like you helped me to Tibet?
David: I have a couple of sources that are guaranteed to give you the information you need.
Adam: Little men in green suits?
David: They've been closer to Liza than you've been in a hell of a long time. But you want to blow me off? Fine.
Adam: Jamie and Babe?
David: Ah, there you go. Looks like your brain hasn't atrophied after all. They buddied up with Liza when they were in New Orleans. They were there when she had to relocate. Odds are they know where she went.
Adam: So you'd pump your daughter for information to help me?
David: Not quite, Adam. The way I see it, Babe stands to gain. Because if you accept my offer, you're going to make sure that J.R. leaves her alone.
Woman: Mr. Chandler, please accept my apologies.
J.R.: She tried to kill me! It was completely premeditated! She brought me down here to slice me up!
Woman: Carey will be sent to solitary.
J.R.: You know, in solitary confinement, people start to see things, hear voices. I hope you learned your lesson, Krystal.
Krystal: You can kiss my --
Guard: Shut it!
J.R.: This has been a trip.
Woman: Bad way to start your stay with us. Get her to isolation.
Second woman: Excuse me, warden. Wait.
Warden: Di, you know something about this?
Di: The shiv was planted on Carey.
Warden: You sure?
Di: Yeah, I saw it go down.
Warden: I don't suppose you saw any faces?
Di: Krystal got upset, but she never threatened the guy. The piece fell out of her pocket when the guard grabbed her. The Chandler guy just overreacted. She didn't do anything wrong.
David: You've been spending, what, a mini fortune on PIs lately? And what exactly have they turned up thus far? An ice cold trail. Personally, I'd say I'm your best option.
Adam: I don't trust you.
David: Of course you don't. And I don't trust you, which makes this perfect. Hey, we need each other, right?
Adam: I'd rather make a pact with the devil.
David: Yeah, well, some might say that I'm pretty close. And I can find your daughter. I would do anything to protect Babe. And you would do anything for Colby. Which means we're on the same page, Adam.
Adam: What exactly do you propose?
David: You make sure that J.R. backs off of Babe for good. And I will find out where Liza and Colby are, courtesy of Babe and Jamie. Deal?
Warden: Your lucky day. Di stepped in. You dodged the hole.
Krystal: Thank you.
Warden: Don't thank me. Watch yourself, especially with the likes of Mr. Chandler. He could make trouble for all of us.
Krystal: Thought you had it out for me, too.
Di: You should keep an eye on your pockets.
Krystal: Why'd you do it? Huh? You can put the black six on the red seven.
Greenlee: Don't you listen to my father! You walk out of this door, anything can happen!
Ryan: Greenlee, Greenlee, you have to believe that I am the only person that can stop Braden.
Greenlee: No! He shot you!
Ryan: You got to let me do this, Greenlee, for everybody. You have to.
Greenlee: I don't care about everybody!
Ryan: Look, after this is over, it's going to be you and me and we're going to be alone in St. Bart's and --
Greenlee: No, you know what? He shot you again. Next time --
Ryan: There is no next time, Greenlee. I have got to stop this. All right? I love you.
Greenlee: You can't do this. You can't do this.
Jack: Just let him go.
Greenlee: Don't! Braden wants Ryan dead. How many times does he have to shoot him for you to understand that? No --
Jack: No, no, no, no!
Greenlee: Let me go, let me go! I've got to --
Kendall: Listen, listen here! Greenlee, Greenlee, Jack is right, ok? Listen, you know Ryan. You know him. You love him.
Maria: Oh, good lord, I can't do this. I can't --
Erica: I have to talk to you.
Jack: Well, there's a couple things going on here, Erica.
Erica: He didn't do it. I just saw Zach. He didn't kill Edmund.
Ryan: What do you got?
Aidan: The police ran the prints. Braden's were all over the bomb.
Joe: Vitals are stable. He should be coming out of anesthesia shortly. Check him again in 10.
Nurse: Yes, Dr. Martin.
Joe: You're going to be fine.
Jonathan: I'm sorry, Ryan. I'm so sorry.
Man's voice: Not Ryan. It's me, Braden.
Ryan: Well, Braden doesn't let up. He could have taken out every single person --
Tad: Ryan. You going to be ok?
Ryan: Yeah, I'll be fine. Why don't you see if Maria needs anything.
Tad: Besides her husband back alive?
Aidan: We're here for you if you need us, all right?
Officer: I'm looking for Ryan Lavery.
Ryan: Yeah, you found him.
Officer: It was left for you at the front gate.
Braden's voice: "It all started with the murder game. Remember, Ryan? Let's play again. This time I'll win."
>> On the next "All My Children"...
Babe: He can't do this to me. He can't get away with this. I will rip him to shreds.
J.R.: What are you hiding from me?
Maria: How stupid can you be?
Erica: Not nearly as stupid as you.
Greenlee: I could be a widow again, and if that happens, I will hate you, Ryan.
