All My Children Transcript Thursday 3/17/05
Proofread by Gisele
Ethan: So that's it? Nothing? Not a word to anybody? Speak, damn it!
Zach: There's nothing left to say. You know that. You've said it all.
Zach: You can't let me die, remember?
Kendall: You know right from wrong. You can do this.
Maria: Do it. Kill him.
Zach: I win again. You killed yourself.
Kendall: What? What's wrong? Ethan, what's wrong? It's ok. It's all right. It's ok. Baby, it's ok. It was a dream. Ok?, It was a very bad dream. You're ok. You're ok. You're ok, ok? I'm right here. I'm right here.
Erica: Well, Lily, your father has very wisely left the choice of color scheme for our wedding up to me. What has you so absorbed?
Lily: This man died.
Erica: Yes. Yes, Lily, he did.
Lily: I saw it wrong. I thought I saw it right, but I saw it wrong.
Erica: What did you see wrong, Lily?
Maria: Hey, Sam. If you want to say a private good-bye to your dad before the funeral starts, there's time. And I'll be right here if you need me. What's wrong?
Sam: Are you kidding?
Maria: No, I -- we had a nice night last night. I thought that we --
Sam: Can you just back off already? Leave me alone.
[Radio turns on]
Singer: We have a weekday off come rolling back to me
Greenlee: There are lots of other ways you could wake me up. Turn that thing off and try again. Please?
Ryan: Wait, wait, wait, here we go, here we go.
Radio announcer: That was a dedication from Ryan to Braden. Miss you, brother. Call as soon as you can.
Greenlee: The worst wake-up call I've ever had.
Ryan: I'm sorry. It wasn't meant for you.
Greenlee: Well, how do you know that Braden heard that? I mean, it was all cowboy boots and mechanical bulls?
Ryan: Trust me, Bradenís always been a good old boy at heart, musically speaking.
Greenlee: But that exact station, that exact time?
Ryan: I sent it out to every country music station in the area. It's going to run every hour. It's been running since midnight. It's going to run all day.
Greenlee: So what? You'll just sit and wait? What about Edmund's service?
Ryan: Look, I want to be there, I do. I want to be there for Maria and Edmund and you.
Greenlee: Then be there. Deal with Braden later or tomorrow.
Ryan: Greenlee, today we could be going to our own funeral, courtesy of Braden.
Greenlee: I know. It's just -- we haven't had enough.
Ryan: Enough what?
Greenlee: Anything. Mornings together, lie in bed and ignore the world, drift off, make love, drift off, drink lattes, make love. Just to feel you next to me.
Ryan: So you're not sick of me yet? Greenlee, when this is over, it's just going to be you and me, ok? We're going to have a lifetime -- a lifetime of mornings.
Greenlee: Do you know what I miss almost as much as lazy mornings? Daily surprises. And I owe you a gazillion, but a girl's got to start somewhere. Consider this your lucky charm.
Ryan: You're incredible.
Greenlee: But I'm not kidding.
Ryan: I know. I love you.
Kendall: Was it about your father?
Ethan: Why'd you guess him?
Kendall: Because I know you.
Ethan: It's -- it's the most bizarre thing. It follows me everywhere. No matter how close Zach seems to be getting to a flaming crash and burn, it just -- it feels like he's going find some way of pulling up and getting away with it again.
Kendall: Yeah, but he's in jail, ok? Zachís in jail. He's going to go to trial. You'll tell the jury what you saw, and he'll get locked up for the rest of his life.
Ethan: Yeah. You're right.
Kendall: Is that what's bothering you? Is that really what's bothering you, that your father might finally go to prison?
Ethan: My father?
Kendall: Listen, Ethan, it's ok if you're confused, if you have second thoughts. It's ok. No one could blame you for that. Please, just -- what's going on in your head? Please tell me.
Ethan: The thing in my head right now is the vision of the most beautiful eyes I think I've ever seen. You know, a man could stare into those eyes and he could forget about judges and juries and horrible human beings. A man could stare into those eyes.
Erica: Lily, you know that this man is Edmund Grey and that he died. Is that what you think you saw wrong? Did you see --
[Knock on door]
Erica: Lily, I would like very much for us to talk about this.
Erica: Hello. Lily -- Lily, would you just mind waiting in your room?
Aidan: Is Lily still upset?
Erica: Well -- look, I think we need to just take it slow, and I need to talk to you for a moment alone. Lily may very well have seen exactly what happened to Edmund in that barn.
Aidan: Is that what she told you?
Erica: Well, just now she was looking at the article about the murder with pictures of both Zach and Edmund, and she said, "I saw it wrong."
Aidan: Well, you heard everything. I mean, I asked her specifically if she saw Edmund get hit, and she gave a flat-out no. I mean, I know Lily doesn't lie.
Erica: Well, she was certainly very focused and very intense right now looking at those pictures, and she said several times, "I saw it wrong." Look, there must be another way to get through to her.
Aidan: I think you're right. I think there's definitely something inside Lily. She just can't get it out yet.
Erica: Aidan, I'm sorry. I am so sorry I behaved towards you the way I did after Lily saw you with Anita.
Aidan: Really, it's fine. Don't worry about that. I mean, I understand. We all care about Lily. We'll get the answers, Erica, and we will keep her safe, ok?
Maria: Honey, I know how -- how much this hurts. If we stick together, we can get through this together.
Sam: They're gone. Dad's ramps, just like that. Like Dad was never here.
Maria: Is that what this is about? Do you think I erased your father? I would never do that.
Sam: You erased him while he was still alive.
Maria: You've been talking to Maddie?
Sam: Yeah, I've missed a lot.
Maria: No, Maddie is devastated and she doesn't understand exactly what happened.
Sam: You said you loved him.
Maria: With all my heart.
Sam: Liar. You cheated on Dad, and then the guy killed him.
Maria: Honey, please let's not do this right now. You don't understand what happened --
Sam: You're a liar. The secret's out. Live with it.
Isabella: He's right. Every word.
[Knock on door]
Greenlee: Is my dad here?
Erica: No. Actually, no, he's at the police station with Derek.
Greenlee: Are we talking long-term, back in a mo? I really need to talk to him.
Erica: Well, maybe I can help.
Greenlee: Right, because when I think of love and comfort, my mind goes straight to you.
Erica: Oh, you need comfort? What, were they all out of high-priced slingbacks?
Greenlee: Ryan's putting his life on the line. He wants to go one-on-one with Braden. But go ahead and yuck it up.
Erica: Are you crazy? And you let him go? What, did you deliberately send him off? "Go have a nice time with your lunatic brother"?
Greenlee: Why did I doubt your compassion?
Erica: Why didn't you stop him? You are supposed to be his wife.
Greenlee: Why weren't you this concerned about Ryan when you showed him who his father really was?
Erica: Look, I was -- I was just as shocked as Ryan was when I gave him Chris' journal and I found out that Chris had lied.
Greenlee: Oh, really? Did it turn your world upside down and make you question your entire life? No? How come? Oh, yeah, because it wasn't about you.
Erica: I gave Ryan Chris Stamp's journal, that's all.
Greenlee: And opened big fat scars.
Erica: I didn't send him out to see his lunatic brother and open up fresh wounds. That would be you, Mrs. Lavery. That would be all you.
Ryan: Did you hear the radio dedication? Every hour, on the hour.
Jonathan: Yeah. No, I'm still here. Braden, listen to me, man. You have to stop. He's our brother, Braden. What are you talking about? Why don't you understand that? Ok. Ok, hold on. He wants you.
Ryan: I guess we can skip the "long time no see." You want to tell me what's going with you?
Braden: I'm disappointed in you.
Ryan: Wow. Straight to the Dad speak. Want to call me buddy next? Look, I'm not thrilled with you either, Braden. Five years. So, why now? Why the grudge?
Braden: You turned into Dad.
Ryan: I'm not the one spouting his punch lines, Braden. Look, I didn't turn my back on you, all right? I just -- I just got on with my life, that's all. The Lavery brothers -- that's us. You know, you, me, and Hocket -- we're a team.
Braden: You turned into Dad.
Ryan: Stop it, Braden. Saying it over and over again isn't going to make it true, all right? This is between you and me, not Dad. So what, do you blame me? Do you hate me? Well, I'm not going to let you hurt my wife anymore. No more drugs, no more guns, all right? Look, you're my brother, no matter what, and I love you, but we got to work this out, just you and me, alone.
Ryan: You know the old pump house at the edge of town? I can be there in an hour.
Ryan: We're going to make this right, Braden. We're going to finish this today.
Erica: Who knows what this psychopath Braden might do to Ryan? Did you even think of that?
[Knock on door]
Erica: Do you even care? Oh --
Kendall: Call me delivery girl.
Greenlee: No, Erica, I thought it was a great idea for Ryan to confront Braden. It never occurred to me that he might get hurt or maimed or never come home at all. Can't you tell by my party hat?
Kendall: Wait a minute. Hold on here. Wait, what is this?
Erica: This is Greenlee shoving Ryan out the door into Bradenís face.
Greenlee: Oh, God.
Kendall: Wait a minute. What is wrong with you, Mother? Can't you see she's freaked out? Why are you going off on her?
Erica: Because she let Ryan just walk into danger.
Kendall: No, Ryan does what he needs to do, which in this case is stop Braden from being a homicidal maniac. And Greenlee does what she needs to do, and that means support him all the way.
Erica: Have you lost your mind? Or at least your memory? Supporting the woman who stole Ryan from you?
Greenlee: I didn't steal him.
Kendall: The man that you loved beyond reason, and she just lets him walk out the door into his crazy brother's minefield?
Kendall: No, "loved," Mother, past tense. Greenlee is with Ryan now, and we both know she'll do anything to hang on to him. And that means be a good and loving wife.
Erica: Ok, I guess it's contagious. You've both lost your minds. Greenlee, a good and loving wife, from your lips? I may pass out.
Kendall: The world is a much rosier place when you're in love, Mother. I have Ethan now. I wish Greenlee and Ryan all the best.
Erica: Oh, great. So I have another Cambias to thank for the new you.
Greenlee: Hey, Ethan isn't Michael.
Kendall: All right, you know what? Give it up, Mother, ok? You're not right. You're wrong about this. Ethan is one of the good guys. If you want to go off on someone, why don't you go to the jail, find the only evil Cambias that's left -- Zach Slater.
Zach: Took you long enough.
Ethan: You expected me because I'm so predictable, and you know my every move.
Zach: I knew this one. Man, this has got to be eating you alive, huh? "Slater hasn't made a move, so this has got to be a setup." You know what? If I were a good father, I would give you some answers.
Ethan: I don't give a damn what you do.
Zach: You don't give a damn, huh? That's why you're here?
Ethan: All right, fine. You win. I had to come. I did a terrible thing. I trespassed at Wildwind. And I found a disc. Your disc. A few seconds of video just showed Edmund stand up, take a walk, and lock you and Maria in the shed. How exciting was it for you to hold that piece of evidence in your hand, proof finally that Edmund was a liar and out to get both of you? Did you run through the show in your head, when you sat Maria down and you showed her husband's betrayal and you dried her eyes and you touched her lips? It's not going to happen, Zach, not now, not ever.
Zach: You're pretty proud of yourself, aren't you?
Ethan: Maria buries her husband today, a hero, the man whose memory she will cherish for the rest of her life. And your -- your hope, your proof, your little disc is destroyed. So what do you have now? Just your word against that of a dead man.
Maria: Mama, are you going to do this now? Please don't do this now.
Isabella: You know, Maria, you can sin in thought as well as deed. And what you've done --
Anita: Maria says good-bye to her husband today. Can't you see that she's in pain?
Isabella: Of course she is. She invited pain into this house, made it welcome.
Anita: Stop, ok? You know, why don't you go see how Maddie's doing? I am so sorry.
Maria: Jeez. Sorry for what? Sorry that she and the kids can't forgive me or that I can't forgive myself?
Anita: Maria, don't let Mama do this to you. In 10 minutes from now, she'll be down here saying, "Ay, mija, lo siento."
Maria: Yeah, but what about the kids? Are they going to forgive me in 10 minutes or 10 years?
Anita: They just lost their father.
Maria: But you heard mama's speech, her thought-and-deed speech.
Anita: Look, you didn't sleep with Zach.
Maria: No, but I had no will power when it came to him. I kept going to him over and over again. I would tell him to keep -- and leave me alone and then I would let him kiss me and -- I let him think that there was a chance for us.
Anita: You chose Edmund.
Maria: But I chose him too late. Now my daughter thinks that I'm a killer, my son thinks that I betrayed him, and I don't even feel like I deserve to be able to cry.
Anita: You're entitled to your grief.
Maria: No, I'm actually more entitled to my guilt, because I did. I led Zach on. And now because of that I'm burying my husband today.
Maria: Hello. Mateo.
Jonathan: Ryan -- Ryan, hey, you can't go alone.
Ryan: You can't come with me.
Jonathan: He hates you. Ryan, he hates you. I got this last night, ok?
Ryan: "Ryan's dead"?
Jonathan: Let me come with you. Ryan, no matter what he says, when he sees you, he's going to --
Ryan: I said no. No, Jonathan.
Jonathan: Oh, I should have told you the first time he called, Ryan, I --
Ryan: Well, you didn't, and here we are.
Jonathan: No, Ryan, it's just -- I never wanted you to get hurt, ok? I never wanted that. I -- I just wanted to protect both of you, the way you protected me. That's all I wanted. Be careful.
Ryan: I will. It ends today with Braden. And then you and me, Hocket, you and me, we can -- we'll start again, ok?
Greenlee: Well, and no matter how things start, it's always about a Kane woman in the end. Tell my father to call me.
Erica: Ok. Bye-bye.
Kendall: No, no, no, no, no, not when you're all wiggy and tense. You can't leave.
Greenlee: Oh, because it's so calm and soothing here.
Kendall: What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you always let my mother freak you out?
Greenlee: Me? What about you? One word about Ethan and you sprout dainty fangs and claws.
Kendall: Yeah, well, she's my mother.
Greenlee: Yeah, and when she marries my father, she's going to be -- she can't be serious.
Erica: Ok. While you two bond and Satan ice-skates, I'll go see how Lily's doing.
Greenlee: Do I look wiggy?
Kendall: Yeah, only in a "your world is turning upside down" terrified kind of way. Greenlee, don't be. Ryan can outthink, outrun, out anything his brothers can pull. He's going to take care of Braden and he's going to come back to you.
Erica: She's gone! Lily is gone!
Sam: Hey. Freaky, isn't it? Are you here for the funeral? I'm Sam. It was my dad who -- the service today is for my father, Edmund Grey. The cops say we can't even take it down yet, it's a crime scene. He was in there.
Lily: I thought I saw it right, and I did. I saw it right.
Sam: What are you talking about? What did you see?
Erica: Yes, yes, of course. I'll stay here. Oh, Jack. I'm so sorry. I never should have taken my eyes off -- oh, well, I know, I know. Yes. I know. Aidanís guard said that it was a large crowd that left and that Lily was probably in the middle. Oh, of course. Yes, I know, I know. Well, you're going to find her. This is all your fault, coming over here with all your demands and all your excuses. You made it so uncomfortable in here that Lily had to get away.
Greenlee: I didn't put the back door in this place, and I didn't push Lily through it. I'm sorry she's out and about.
Erica: Well, do you happen to know who else is out and about? Your lunatic brother-in-law Braden, that's who, the one your other brother-in-law Jonathan let run rampage on this town. As if Braden hadn't already hurt enough people that Jackson loves.
Kendall: Greenlee happens to be one of those people that Jackson loves and that Braden has hurt, or did you just block that part out?
Greenlee: Did you forget why I'm here? At this very minute Braden is probably miles from Lily with a bead on my husband. So feel free to launch on anyone else, not me. I'm just praying that my husband's still alive.
Aidan: You shouldn't let someone sneak up on you like that, Ryan. I could have slit your throat before you even made a sound.
Ryan: What's the matter with you?
Aidan: Don't worry about this place, all right? I've already swept it for foreign objects. It's clean.
Ryan: There's no sign of him, there's no sign of Braden?
Aidan: No sign of your dear brother at all, and he doesn't know you have backup.
Ryan: All right, fine. Well, let's keep it that way.
Aidan: Yeah. Yeah, this is the best way to round up the prodigal.
Ryan: Hey, Aidan, we do this my way. Do you understand? We bag him, we give him to the cops, we let them deal with him, all right? No bullets.
Aidan: All right. It's just last resort. It's better to have a gun and not need one than need a gun and not have one, all right?
Ethan: Maria will never know your version of the truth. Your happy ending will never happen. There's no great love story. It's a waste, but then again, you always were.
Zach: I will rot in prison and die for Edmund's murder?
Ethan: Hmm, and we can hope that the rotting will be painful and the dying more so.
Zach: And no chance of reprieve, because my son is going to testify that he saw me do it. Wow. Who'd have thought he'd be such a fast learner? You've only been a Cambias for what, a couple of months, and now you're just like my old man. Only you're taller and much better looking.
Ethan: Hmm. I'm just doing my civic duty.
Zach: What happened to you? Did my warning about the Cambias power make it all the more fun for you? Forbidden fruit?
Ethan: Odd, but you really had no effect on me at all.
Zach: Yeah, I can see that. You turned into this soulless shell of a man all on your own.
Ethan: You'll pay for what you did.
Zach: For what I've done to Edmund or what I've done to you?
Maria: Of course, of course. Give Enzo and Hayley my love. I love you, too. Bye.
Anita: They can't come?
Maria: No. They were actually on their way to the airport and Enzo got little itchy bumps.
Maria: Chickenpox, yeah.
Maria: And then Rosaís in Egypt, so everybody who doesn't think I'm evil is halfway around the world.
Anita: Maria, the kids are mixed up, but they love you. You know, they're going to rant and grieve and slam doors, and you're going to be there, ready to tell them that you love them. They don't know everything.
Maria: No, but they're adolescents. They think they know everything. What am I going to say?
Anita: Well, they already know about Zach, so you can't ignore that. But you can set them straight. You didn't do this, Maria. Zach did. They have to know that. You have to know that.
Maria: You make it sound easy. Can you do it for me?
Anita: I would fix it all for you if I could. You know I would.
Maria: Ok. I'm going to go find Sam. Thank you.
Sam: Just tell me, ok? What did you see?
Lily: He wasn't in the wheelchair. He stood on his feet.
Lily: The man who died.
Sam: What? Were you here? What are you talking about? What did you see?
Lily: I saw -- I saw the man that died.
Sam: My father? You're talking about my father. What is this, a game? Are you messing with my head?
Lily: There was a man, and I saw the man.
Sam: Who does stuff like that? Who just makes up stuff -- he is gone. He was murdered. Do you understand that? My father is dead and gone. You can't just say stuff about him. Who are you? Hey, who are you?
Lily: Don't touch! Don't touch me.
Sam: Whoa, hey, hey.
Lily: 100 --
Sam: I didn't mean --
Lily: 99, 98 --
Sam: What's your deal?
Lily: 97, 96 --
Maria: Sam, step away from her.
Sam: I didn't even touch her!
Maria: I know you didn't. It's ok, Lily. Sweetheart, this is my son, Sam. He's not going to hurt you.
Lily: 91, 90 --
Maria: He's not going to touch you, honey. I'm going to talk to him right over here. We're just going to talk right over here.
Lily: 87, 86, 85 --
Sam: What is this? I wasn't going to hurt her.
Maria: Shh, shh, shh, I know. Keep your voice down. She's very upset.
Sam: Yeah, she's nuts. She was talking about Dad.
Maria: This is Jacksonís daughter, and she's autistic, so anything that's a big deal to her -- it might not be a big deal to you, but it would be a big deal for her.
Lily: 75, 74, 73, 72, 71 --
Sam: She was talking about Dad in there. How sick is that?
Maria: Because she was trapped in the fire that night, too.
Sam: You didn't hear her talking. She was saying it like it was no big deal, like it was matter of fact about Dad.
Maria: Ok, honey, what I need you to do is go up to the house, go get in my blue address book, and get Jackson's number and give him a call, ok? Please, go do this right now for me. You don't understand. She was traumatized that night, and things like -- ok, imagine any other kid trapped in a fire, and then imagine her trapped in a fire. Sounds, colors, being touched, anything like that completely sets her off.
Lily: 49, 48 --
Sam: Ok, fine. I get it.
Sam: I'm sorry I went off. But you didn't hear her. She was saying all these --
Maria: Ok, look, either you're going to stay here and calm her down or you're going to make the phone call. Which one?
Lily: 39, 38, 37 --
Maria: Thank you.
Lily: 35, 34 --
Maria: Lily? Honey, I'm going to call your dad. Your dad's going to come pick you up, ok? So don't worry. It's going to be all right.
Ryan: Hey, would you put that away? I don't want to see that again.
Aidan: And if Braden comes in here guns blazing? He's already shot you once.
Ryan: Yeah, that was before we talked, Aidan. Look, I understand what can happen here, all right, but Bradenís my brother.
Aidan: Well, maybe your brother's been tipped off and knows about your plan to bring him in.
Ryan: Look, Jonathan -- he knows that he stood by Braden too long, all right? He understands. He would be here if I let him.
Aidan: What, to help you out or to give Braden a hand? You know, it could be that Jonathan feels like he's stuck in the middle, or he could be Bradenís wingman -- in it up to his neck.
Ryan: What are you trying to say, Aidan? Both my brothers want me dead?
Aidan: You ever give it a thought?
Ryan: Look, I'm about to turn in a brother that I would have died for to the police. Let's not make this any worse, ok?
Aidan: I'm just looking at all the angles, all right? That's why you keep me around, and it's how I stay alive.
Ryan: Well, A, I don't keep you around, and, B, as far as staying alive, I'm doing a pretty good job myself, all right? So go back to your -- to your web. I got family I got to deal with.
Erica: Yes, Sam, yes. Thank you so much for calling. I'll be right over. Oh, that was Edmund's son. Lily went over to Wildwind.
Kendall: What? Why? How? Well, maybe that's a good omen for the day. Lily's fine. We're fine. Everybody's fine. We'll just wait to hear that everything's fine.
Greenlee: You're so good at this.
Kendall: Cut me some slack. I'm trying here. It's too early to drink. We could choose colors for my mother's wedding using last season's colors. Huh, imagine the horror of that. All right, fine. You know what? I am just going to have to prove you right and make it all about me.
Kendall: I will outworry you. I will prove that you just don't measure up in one more area. I've always been better than you at frantic tizzies.
Greenlee: Have not.
Kendall: Have, too.
Zach: Now, you asked me earlier if I'd played out the scene where I give the disc to Maria. What about you? Did you play out this scene? Me on my hands and knees begging you to clear me? Not as much fun this way, huh?
Ethan: You seem to be enjoying yourself.
Zach: I'll try and tone it down.
Ethan: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, don't, not on my account. You enjoy whatever time you can get away with in here. You're going to have plenty of time to think about what you've done.
Zach: So will you.
Ethan: Well, if we tire of that, we can chew on this -- the woman who you did this for -- she will always hate you just as much as I do.
Maria: Lily, your dad's going to be here really soon. Do you want to come up to the house and wait for him?
Lily: I didn't see it wrong. He didn't do it.
Kendall: Ryan will nail Braden, he'll hand him off to the cops, and the twisted nut job will be off the streets. Then comes the real problem. I rip Jonathan's lungs out and you stomp on Bradenís head.
Greenlee: And the problem would be?
Kendall: I vowed never to wear an orange jumpsuit ever again. I cannot go to jail, and neither can you. Bertha and Mabel will rip you in half and have a field day with you. So we have to learn restraint. We hold each other back. Whatever it takes.
Greenlee: Whatever it takes. Well, we could help Erica -- order everything in puce.
Kendall: Yeah. Hmm. He'll be ok. He's Ryan.
Ryan: You're disappointing me again, Braden.
[As Ryan opens the door to look for Braden, a gunshot rings out, sending Ryan reeling backwards.]
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Brooke: I have no idea what I'm going to say.
Tad: At the service or to Maria?
Maria: You saw it happen? He didn't do it?
Erica: Do not mess with my family ever again.
Greenlee: I'm terrified for Ryan. Don't tell me you don't feel it, too.
Aidan: Ryan, talk to me.
Ryan: I'm hit.
