Dorian: Oh, my, Adam. You are full of surprises. But, really, a paper parasol would have been sufficient.

Adam: But do you believe me?

Dorian: I believe that you are mad.

Adam: Why? Because it's loaded? I trust you, Dorian.

Dorian: Evidently. But why?

Adam: I rarely find a woman I feel is my equal.

Dorian: If not your better.

Adam: I'm comfortable around you. I understand what you've been through. And to have your nephew Paul murdered that way was tragic enough, but then to be arrested for the crime --

Dorian: Paul was a toxic little maggot, and he deserved to die. The world will be better off without him.

Adam: I couldn't agree more. You're a very attractive woman. Very sexy.

Dorian: And very much spoken for by a glorious man.

Adam: Oh, come on. You mean that muscle-bound boy toy?

Dorian: David is more age appropriate than most of your wives. Really. You are amazing. You arm me, then you insult my lover? Do you have a death wish?

Adam: You are vibrant and exciting, and you deserve an equal.

Dorian: And who could possibly even come close? You?

Adam: Gladly -- if I weren't in the midst of a family crisis.

Dorian: Ah, at last -- your true motive.

Adam: My son, J.R., was a victim of a crime, a crime that we feel was perpetrated by your nephew Paul while your niece Kelly profited.

J.R.: Kelly Buchanan?

Kelly: Yes?

J.R.: J.R. Chandler. That name's got to be more than familiar.

Kelly: Of course. You know, I'm expecting someone.

J.R.: Oh, that's all right. I won't take up too much of your time.

Kelly: I don't mean to be rude. I read about your loss in the newspaper.

J.R.: Mm-hmm. We've got a lot in common.

Kelly: You must miss your baby very much.

J.R.: As much as you do? That's why Babe told me to come talk to you.

[Bianca gasps]

Bianca: Oh, my goodness. How cute. Miranda will love it.

Maggie: Well, I figure you'll have her on the real thing as soon as she can walk, so she may as well get used to horsies now.

Bianca: It's pretty amazing, isn't it?

Maggie: Miraculous.

Bianca: So how are you? How's life?

Maggie: Oh, great.

Anita: It's that time again.

Bianca: Hello.

Anita: Hi.

Maggie: Hi, Anita. How are you?

Anita: Overworked, underpaid, the usual. But I can come back.

Bianca: Oh, no, no, that's ok. The more the merrier. Let's get this over with.

Anita: All right.

Maggie: I'll -- I'll take this in to Miranda.

Bianca: Cool.

Anita: Jonathan is not with her, right?

Bianca: No. I guess he must be at work.

Anita: But they're still together?

Bianca: I think so. She said everything's great. Why?

Anita: You know Maggie pretty well, right?

Bianca: Yeah. She's my best friend. I mean, at least until Jonathan came along. Something's wrong. Anita, please tell me. I care about Maggie so much.

Anita: New Year's eve at SOS -- she -- she had this bruise on her face. I thought maybe --

Bianca: What? Jonathan?

Anita: She had another explanation, insisting on how clumsy she is.

Bianca: Well, that doesn't mean that wasn't true.

Anita: A lot of battered women come through the ER, and they have the most convincing stories about how clumsy they are. And you know Maggie and Jonathan better than I do. You think there's a chance that maybe he hit her?

Bianca: No, Jonathan is not my favorite person on earth, but Maggie is such a strong woman.

Anita: Yeah, but abuse happens to all kinds of women for all kinds of reasons. It's complicated. If Maggie really cares about him or really needs him or both, you would be surprised at what she's willing to put up with.

Bianca: Wow, I can't stand the idea of somebody hitting her.

Anita: Well, maybe you can find out the truth, you know, if there's truth to be told.

Bianca: Yeah. I'll ask her what happened.

Anita: I hope I'm wrong.

Bianca: Me, too.

[Door opens]

Maggie: Well, don't be surprised if Mirandas first words are "giddy-up."

Anita: Well, you get a gold star. And I'm going to check on the little equestrian.

Bianca: Cool.

Anita: All right.

Bianca: Take your time.

Anita: Ok.

Maggie: So, you'll be getting out soon?

Bianca: Yeah, that's what they say.

Maggie: You look great.

Bianca: So do you.

Maggie: Must be love.

Bianca: Or maybe Enchantment concealer.

Maggie: Enchantment concealer?

Bianca: Yeah, cover-up. Your makeup -- I'm just not used to seeing you wear so much.

Maggie: Well, I was just covering up a -- so you and Anita were talking about my makeup?

Bianca: More like the bruise underneath the makeup.

Jonathan: You have to protect yourself. All the sweat and blood you've put into this company, and you're going to hand it over to the guy who shot you?

Ryan: That still hasn't been proven.

Jonathan: Ok, Ry, when it is proven, are you going to get the company back? Because if he is Zach's son and this Cambias Empire is legally his, he'll run it from prison.

Ryan: Unfortunately, whoever shot me is not relevant. You just said it yourself. If Ethan is Alexander Cambias' grandson, then the companies are legally his.

Jonathan: How screwed is that? Just let this go to trial. You --

Ryan: No, no, I -- I heard and I've read a lot of horrible things about Alexander Cambias, Sr., but that's not the man that I knew. I respected him. And he trusted me --

Jonathan: To run his company.

Ryan: No --

Jonathan: To run his co--

Ryan: No. To honor his last wishes. That's what I said I was going to do, and I'm going to stand by that. You're only as good as your word.

Jonathan: I remember a promise you made to me. We were hiding from the old man, and you said if there's any way that you could ever get away that you'd take me with you.

Ryan: I remember that.

Jonathan: Yeah. I thought about it every night, just wondering if the next day was going to be the day, you know, that we'd get out and bust loose, go hide somewhere, anywhere where nobody could find us. And then one day you were gone and I was still there, hiding from the old man. I guess that some promises are meant to be kept and some are just made to -- to make people feel better.

Ethan: I'm going to lodge a complaint, Ashley. Earrings and shoes are not official items of clothing.

Kendall: Oh, actually, to women, all accessories count.

Ethan: Oh, really? Ok.

Kendall: Yes.

Ethan: Fermez la bouche and deal, chickie.

Kendall: We will just play a hand of straight lay down, ok? Reminds me of you, Ahab.

Ethan: Really?

Kendall: Mm-hmm. All right. Is that right? Yep. Ahem.

Ethan: Things are looking up.

Kendall: Listen, you wouldn't be bluffing me, would you?

Ethan: Let me ask you something. Is there such a thing in American poker as a do-over?

Kendall: No.

Ethan: Really? Even though you forgot to deal these off the bottom of the deck?

Kendall: Ahab, I do not cheat. I'm not a cheater.

Ethan: Don't you blow smoke up my boxers, young lady. How do you account for that? Huh?

Kendall: Those are my cards.

Ethan: Ah! Exactly. Exactly.

Kendall: No! Hold on! No, no. No, you distracted me.

Ethan: Oh, did I distract you? Oh, I see.

Kendall: Yes, you -- yes, you're sitting there with your boxers and you got all rippling muscles and then --

Ethan: Uh-huh, uh-huh, ok.

Kendall: You're cheating.

Ethan: No, no, no, no, no.

Kendall: It's called cheating, yes.

Ethan: Your game, your cards, ok? Distraction is not an offense. It is recognized by the official British Strip Poker Society. They ruled in 1892 that if there was any cheating or trickery on the part of the dealer, said dealer -- that would be you --

Kendall: Uh-huh.

Ethan: Has to lose every single item of clothing, ok? Bar one, to be decided by person to the left of the dealer, ok? To the left of the dealer. Let's see -- oh, that's me. Ok, so let's see, now. Where shall we start? What are we going to keep today, huh?

Kendall: All right, uh-uh, stop, go.

Ethan: What?

Kendall: You know what? Get dressed.

Ethan: What are you talking about?

Kendall: Get dressed!

Ethan: Oh, don't be such a spoilsport, lady --

Kendall: I -- I will take my punishment, but not here.

Ethan: Oh, really?

Dorian: Oh, no, no, no.

Adam: This convenient helicopter crash was exactly what Paul needed.

Dorian: You think the crash wasn't an accident?

Adam: Who cares? The point is it made Paul's baby-switching scheme possible. He claimed that one of the children had died. That was Bianca's child. But actually, he gave that child to Babe and J.R.

Dorian: So it was J.R.'s and Babe's child who was killed?

Adam: No. No, no child was killed.

Dorian: Is it the martini, or is this story too baroque to follow?

Adam: No, it's not complicated. No body was ever recovered.

Dorian: Why would Paul lie like that? What did he have to gain?

Adam: A nephew. We believe that Paul stole my grandson and gave him to his sister, Kelly. You don't seem entirely surprised.

Dorian: I'm in shock. It's an astounding story.

Adam: Or one you already knew when you arrived.

Dorian: Why would I keep secrets from my newfound protector?

Adam: Yes, well, if it would benefit you and your family, of course you would. Of course you would. But this secret is not going to be a secret for very long. I want my grandson back.

Dorian: Is the next part of this story that I stole the baby?

Adam: No, no, but you have information. I would think you'd like to be on our side, because the people on the other side are going to lose, painfully.

Dorian: You know, these accusations are completely far-fetched. Adam, you don't have any proof, do you?

Adam: We're working on it.

Dorian: I will tell you this -- my niece Kelly is a wonderful young woman. She has been a fantastic mother, and she is completely devoted to Ace.

Adam: Dorian, Dorian, Dorian, listen to me. You and I together would be unbeatable.

Dorian: Really? And just what kind of an alliance are you suggesting?

Mary: Stake your claim somewhere else, Dorian. Adam's been spoken for.

Dorian: Well, Adam, now I understand why you gave me a gun.

Kelly: I'm sorry, but I can't help you.

J.R.: What about your husband, Kevin?

Kelly: He's not my husband.

J.R.: Ok, your ex-husband, Kevin -- Lieutenant Governor. What is he going to do when he finds out you helped out Ace's kidnappers? I can help you. I can cover for you. But in return you're going to have to come across, too.

Karen: I'm sorry to interrupt. But has there been any news on Ace?

Kelly: No, no, nothing.

Karen: And you're holding up ok? I don't know how you do it.

Kelly: I have to stay strong for Ace.

Karen: Bella Carey -- what a pretty picture? How is she? She must be almost as worried about Ace as you are.

J.R.: Busted.

Kelly: Karen, please, we really don't want to be interrupted.

Karen: Sorry. I didn't mean to upset you --

Kelly: Later, Karen, please. Just leave us alone.

Karen: All right.

J.R.: No -- Karen, please sit. How well do you know Bella?

Kelly: She has her confused with somebody else.

Karen: I do not. I have an excellent memory for faces and for names, and she said her name was Bella Carey.

J.R.: Hmm. And what else do you know about Bella?

Karen: She was really sweet. And there was something really sad about her. And she thought Ace was adorable. She couldn't keep her eyes off of him.

J.R.: Yeah, I bet.

Karen: Is she taking the kidnapping as hard as Ace's parents are?

J.R.: What do you think about that, Kelly?

Kelly: Why don't we talk later, Karen?

Karen: Excuse me for cutting in.

J.R.: All right, it's time for you to come clean, Kelly. You don't want to get on the wrong side of the Chandlers.

Kelly: Oh, so now the Chandlers are threatening me? Take a number. I already have the Buchanans breathing down my neck.

Bianca's voice: Babe is a liar. She has lied about everything, about more than you know. I'm sorry, J.R. This little girl, this baby? She's Miranda. But your baby -- it's not what you think, J.R. I can help you with your child.

Bianca: Maggie, don't be angry because we care about you.

Maggie: So gossip and insults equal caring?

Bianca: Anita just mentioned your bruise. Did you hit your face on something?

Maggie: Yes, I whacked it. Ok, I was at the gym. I opened up a locker door, and I just walked right -- you know, why even bother talking about this?

Bianca: Because I care about you, ok? I'm worried about you. Friends confide in each other.

Maggie: We haven't really talked about what matters in a long time. You don't even care about my relationship with Jonathan.

Bianca: No, that's not true. I'm very interested in your relationship.

Maggie: Yeah, into making him into some kind of bad guy.

Bianca: Look, I just -- I just need to make sure that you're safe.

Maggie: Jonathan and I are great. But why should I even talk to you about that? I mean, your personal life is so quiet. You never once mentioned that you and Lena broke up. So much for friendship and honesty.

Ryan: I wanted to take you with me.

Jonathan: Well, I would have been in the way.

Ryan: I just -- you know, I didn't know how I could make it work. I was -- I was 15 years old. I could pass for older. People wouldn't ask questions about me, but you -- you were just -- you were just a little kid.

Jonathan: I know. Hey, having the dream helped for a while.

Ryan: I should never have made the promise, not without knowing that I could make that happen. Well, I wish I could change that. But this is now. I control my life. I know now I can keep my word. And you have it. All right? You and I -- we're a team.

Jonathan: You don't listen to me, Ryan. You don't take my advice.

Ryan: What? Sure, I do.

Jonathan: Ramsey and Kendall are out for themselves, and they're not going to stop until they bury you.

[In a hot sauna, wrapped only in fluffy white towels....]

Ethan: You know those crisp winter nights when you look up at the sky and it just feels like the whole universe is staring back down at you?

Kendall: Hmm, yeah, it takes your breath away.

Ethan: I see all that and more in your eyes right now.

Kendall: Well, it must be the heat.

Ethan: No. I see entire constellations. I see galaxies. I see shooting stars. I see asteroids all -- all swirling around you.

Kendall: Are you trying to make me blush?

Ethan: Well, we decided that until we got the DNA results we could be whoever we wanted to be.

Kendall: That was the idea.

Ethan: Well, I, Sir Ahab, am not only into exposing strip poker cheats.

Kendall: Exposing?

Ethan: But I am also an astronomer.

Kendall: Hmm.

Ethan: And an explorer --

Kendall: Hmm.

Ethan: Of strange and exotic lands.

Dorian: Relax, Mary. I didn't come here to jump your claim or steal your meal ticket.

Adam: Or get yourself pumped full of lead, although you asked for it.

Mary: What's the matter? The men in Llanview have gotten too smart? You had to come here to snag one?

Dorian: Oh, Adam, I think you've just been insulted.

Adam: Mary, shut up.

Dorian: Thank you for the martini, but you keep the gun. You need it more than I do.

Adam: No, Dorian -- no, no, don't leave, Dorian.

Dorian: Your theory is interesting, but I can't help.

Adam: We have business to discuss.

Dorian: I can't discuss what I don't know.

Adam: But I have an offer to give.

Mary: Adam, this a potential deal-breaker. You realize that?

Adam: Go pound a piece of marble.

Dorian: Good night. It's been interesting.

Adam: Dorian --

Mary: Hideous, hideous -- Adam, how could you?

Adam: Mary, Dorian was here for business reasons.

Mary: Business?

Adam: Yeah.

Mary: And what was that about an alliance? Did she make the first proposition, or did you?

Adam: That's none of your concern.

Mary: That's what our agreement is based upon. We have an understanding, Adam. I may have been cheated by my family and left penniless, but I still have my pride.

Adam: Too bad you can't invest it or eat it.

Mary: I will not be spoken to this way, and if you don't apologize to me this second and swear that I will never walk in on anything like that again, I'm leaving. Adam, I mean it. I will walk out that door.

Bianca: I didn't intentionally keep that from you.

Maggie: Maybe it's time that we accept that we're not that close anymore, Bianca.

Bianca: Yes, of course we're close. I always want us to be close.

Maggie: No, you know, it's a two-way deal. You have to keep up your end of the bargain.

Bianca: Ok. I'm sorry. Sometimes life gets in the way, and a lot has happened lately, but I always thought that even if we didn't talk, even if we didn't see each other for a long time that we could just pick up right where we left off as though we had never been apart.

Maggie: It's a lot to expect.

Bianca: Ok. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about Lena. I should have. I guess I'm just not used to -- to sharing those kind of things with people, and I have to get used to it.

Maggie: So now I'm just people?

Bianca: No, that's not what I mean.

Maggie: Then what do you mean? What am I to you? Seriously, Bianca, what do you want me to be?

Adam: Here you are, my darling. Here.

Mary: Adam --

Adam: Keep you warm.

Mary: When I said that I would leave, I didn't mean this second.

Adam: Well -- well, why wait? What do you expect from me but pain and disappointment?

Mary: But --

Adam: Yes, but fortunately, thank God, you still have your pride. I haven't robbed you of that.

Mary: But I don't have anyplace to go. You know that.

Adam: But up. Where's your purse?

Mary: It's over there, but --

Adam: Yeah.

Mary: Adam --

Adam: I failed you. I failed to keep up my end of the bargain.

Mary: Well -- well, I was too hasty.

Adam: No, you spoke from your heart. You spoke from your -- and so have I. I speak from my heart. Go! Go, proud Mary!

Mary: But, Adam --

Adam: Go. Go, go, go, go. The staff will pack up your things. And they'll ship them wherever you'd like.

Mary: But where will they ship them? I don't even --

Adam: No, no, no, no, I want to remember you just the way you are -- strong, self-reliant, independent.

Mary: But, Adam --

Adam: No --

Mary: I don't --

Adam: Not another word. Not another word. You have taught me a great lesson. A great lesson --

Mary: Adam, no! Don't do this, Adam!

Adam: Mary! Oh. Christmas came a little late this year. But it was well worth the wait.

Ethan: We can go home. We can go wherever you like.

Kendall: Don't make me wait.

Ryan: I'm doing what I think is fair, what I think is right.

Jonathan: Sometimes, you got to be fair to yourself, Ry. Hey, it's not a crime to put yourself first.

Ryan: Look, I understand that you're just looking out for me.

Jonathan: You're my brother. I love you.

Ryan: I know. And I wish I could make nothing but right calls and never disappoint anybody, you know. I got to go talk to legal.

Greenlee: Mind double-checking these numbers?

Jonathan: That's what I'm here for.

Greenlee: You're not just here to blame me for everything?

Jonathan: What?

Greenlee: Your not-so-subtle dig earlier. Am I the person you blame for giving Ryan such bad advice?

Jonathan: I do blame you for leaning on Ethan to take a DNA test. I -- I don't know, Greenlee. I mean, just -- sometimes, it seems like you're out to sabotage my brother every step of the way.

Bianca: I never meant to shut you out.

Maggie: Stuff happens. Relationships change. Other relationships take more attention.

Bianca: That doesn't mean that I don't care about you.

Maggie: Me, either. We just think different, that's all.

Bianca: I care about you a lot. That's why I asked what happened to your face.

Maggie: It was just an accident. I'm glad you're getting out soon, and Jonathan says hi.

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Greenlee: If you have a problem with me, let's have it out, right now.

Adam: I'm about to make you a very, very attractive offer, but I want my grandbaby.

Bianca: You pushed me.

David: Cristian, hi. David Vickers. How's it going?
