Ryan's voice: I'm Ryan Lavery. And you are?

Ethan: Cambias Industries' rightful owner.

Aidan: Problem? Wouldn't be one Ethan Cambias, would it?

Ryan: What, did you take up mind reading while you were gone?

Aidan: I know all about Ethan. I know why he's here, I know what he wants. You're looking at his only friend in town.

[Knock on door]

Ethan: Hold on, I'm coming. I thought we were clear -- I don't need your help nor do I wish to hear anything that you have to say.

Kendall: Oh? Not even if it's about Alexander Cambias, Jr.? I'm the only one who can tell you about your father.

J.R.: Babe? What?

Babe: Your brother has been stabbed. He may not even make it, J.R.

[J.R. sighs]

J.R.: Do you think that I'm not thinking about it? Do you think that it's not on my mind? I can't think about anything else. Jamie's in surgery right now. He could die and there's not a damn thing that I can do about it.

Babe: Well, we at least need to be there.

J.R.: If I thought it would help. You know, I hate this -- this is my own brother. I don't even know who he is anymore. How could he turn against me and you? And then, he winds up in jai in a knife fight? How did that happen?

Reggie: Maybe because you planned it, you sick son of a --

Babe: J.R.!

Krystal: Tad? Can I get you-all something from the cafeteria? Coffee or anything?

Tad: Brooke? Krystal's going to the cafeteria. Do you want anything? Nothing for me. You just go on ahead.

Krystal: I want you to let me know if I can do anything for either one of you, ok?

Tad: You've been here a long time. You got to want to go home.

Krystal: This is exactly where I want to be.

Maggie: Oh, guys, we just -- we just heard.

Danielle: Is Jamie -- he's all right, isn't he?

Maggie: Isn't he?

Tad: We don't know.

Maggie: What's going on?

Tad: We don't know yet.

Brooke: He's in surgery. How long has he been in there?

Tad: Too long.

Brooke: Joe?

Tad: How is he?

Joe: Jamie's come through the surgery.

Brooke: But how is he?

Tad: Is he stable?

Joe: I expect that he's going to make a full recovery.

Brooke: Oh.

Joe: I'll tell you, that kid is one strong young man. Thank God.

Brooke: No, thank you so much for taking such good care of him. Thank you!

Maggie: See? This is why I want to be a doctor.

Joe: You do understand, of course, that he's not entirely out of the woods. He's lost a lot of blood. But barring complications, he's going to be ok.

Tad: Oh -- oh, man.

Krystal: Your boy's going to be ok. Oh! But, Joe, how are you at taping up ribs?

Tad: Stop.

Brooke: Is he in recovery? Can we see him?

Joe: Yes. I've moved him to a private room.

Brooke: Ok.

Tad: So he's awake?

Joe: Well, he'll be coming to gradually, but you can certainly keep him company.

Tad: Yeah.

Brooke: Ok.

Joe: This way.

Brooke: Ok. Yes.

Babe: Reggie, no! J.R. -- Get off him, Reggie! You guys stop this! Come on!

Derek: Hey, hey! That's enough! That's enough! I said stop!

J.R.: Oh -- he jumped me!

Reggie: Oh, you finally got the picture, huh, Frye? You're here to arrest his sorry butt!

Derek: Hey! You two finally got it out of your system now?

J.R.: I was defending myself!

Babe: Are you ok?

J.R.: Get him out of here!

Reggie: Oh, you finally got what you need, right? You know that it was J.R. that drugged Babe, not Jamie! Cuff him and read him his rights.

Derek: Nobody is here to arrest anybody. We just want to question J.R.

Reggie: Oh, you want to talk some more?

J.R.: I am not talking to you without my attorney present!

Reggie: Jamie got the truth out of that dealer for you! Seth flipped on him!

J.R.: No, Jamie got Seth believing his crazy lies!

Reggie: It's on tape, man! You can't lie your way out of that!

J.R.: Yeah, what's on tape? Huh? My brother getting his guts carved up because he wouldn't stop pressuring a drug dealer? No, he wouldn't stop pushing him, man! He kept dogging him to get him to say what he wanted the cops to hear!

Reggie: Oh -- what is that supposed to mean, huh? You want me to stop telling the truth? Are you going to have me shot, too, huh?

J.R.: You know what? I know -- I don't know what I'm saying here because before Reggie came in and decided to slug me in the stomach, Babe and I were talking about going down to the hospital to see Jamie because he might not make it.

Reggie: Like you care! Huh! J.R., think of the -- the performance you could put on at his funeral, big brother. Think of that, huh? Hey!

Derek: Hey!

J.R.: Oh, well, that's -- that's it, man.

Derek: Back off! I mean it! You stay out of this!

J.R.: I want to press charges.

Reggie: I'll stay out of this when Jamie can fight for himself or that scum's behind bars, whatever comes first.

J.R.: No, that's it. I'm pressing charges for assault.

Babe: J.R., just let this go.

J.R.: No, I want him arrested! Who threw the first punch without warning?

Babe: Reggie, I guess --

Reggie: And I'd do it again! I'd do it again!

J.R.: You know what? Arrest him, take him down to the station with you. I got things to do. All right. Come on, Babe.

Derek: Ned? Wait in the car?

Ned: Sure thing.

Reggie: Chief, I don't get it! It's like the Chandlers pay your salary or something! After everything that went down, after everything you got on tape, you still think J.R. is innocent?

Derek: No, I think he's guilty. But I want to talk about you and how in your short life, you got incredibly stupid.

Ryan: Wow. So, you're already buddies with the would-be Cambias heir that fell out of the sky, huh?

Aidan: You know, fate is a funny thing. Guess who my new neighbor is at the Pine Cone?

Ryan: Ethan potentially Cambias.

Aidan: Well, Ethan and I are like practically brothers now.

Ryan: Wow. Does that mean he offered you part of the Cambias Industries?

Aidan: No. But it does seem like I'm the bloke's entire circle of friends. I invited him over for a few beers.

Ryan: Well, that's very neighborly of you.

Aidan: Yeah. And he told me the whole story on how he's going after your bread and butter.

Ryan: So when did you get back?

Aidan: A few days ago, but I've been keeping my head down, tailing Zach Slater.

Ryan: Wow, you have been busy. So you get any good stuff on Zach?

Aidan: Bad, you mean. No, he keeps his hands very, very clean.

Ryan: Well, what about his past? I mean, anything?

Aidan: Well, I had a fix on a name that he could've used, but it went nowhere.

Ryan: Well, nobody wanders around the world untraceable for the first half of their life.

Aidan: He covered his tracks well.

Ryan: Really? Which means he's got something very big to hide. A woman might know.

Aidan: Where did that come from?

Ryan: Well, I'm saying that, you know, when relationships go south, sometimes people like to talk.

Aidan: What, and she might be out to nail the poor slob, you mean?

Ryan: Yeah, well, it has been known to happen.

Aidan: Well, we would have experience there, wouldn't we?

Ryan: Yeah, we would. So, have you found any women in Zach's past?

Kendall: I knew that'd get your attention.

Ethan: You didn't know my father.

Kendall: No. No, we never met.

Ethan: So what can you tell me about him?

Kendall: Well, his brother Michael and I -- we were involved for a while.

Ethan: My -- my much reviled and murdered Uncle Michael.

Kendall: It wasn't murder.

Ethan: Killed then, as it was technically self-defense.

Kendall: Yes.

Ethan: What was that like?

Kendall: What?

Ethan: To be involved, have an affair, if you like, with the man who raped your sister?

Kendall: It was horrible and disgusting, and it's not what I came here to discuss.

Ethan: Michael told you about my father?

Kendall: Yeah, your father pretty much ruled Michael's life. Alexander Cambias, Jr. -- he was a chip off the old man's block. He was the brilliant, wonderful child, the golden child, the golden son. Your grandfather was dazzled by him.

Ethan: Michael resented my father?

Kendall: Oh, yeah, bitterly. I mean, Michael tried, but all your grandfather could see were his mistakes, of which he made plenty. He fell way short, below the bar that Alex, Jr. set.

Ethan: So when my father died, the way was clear for Michael?

Kendall: Yeah, that's -- that's what Michael thought, too, but he was wrong. Apparently, the competition wasn't over. In fact, it was even worse. To Alex, Sr., your father was even better and greater dead than he was alive.

Ethan: My grandfather was cold, my uncle was a scoundrel of the worst possible sorts. It makes one awfully proud to be a Cambias.

Kendall: Oh, it's not as bad as all that.

Ethan: What is wrong with you?

Kendall: I'm not sure I understand your question.

Ethan: You shagged my rapist uncle --

Kendall: Ok, that was before I found out what he was really about.

Ethan: Then you stand trial for his murder!

Kendall: Ok, you know what? You need to get your details straight, get your facts straight before we get into any of this.

Ethan: You claim you want to help me, ok? The nephew of the man who whipsawed your family into the dustbin. Now, that has to sound a little bit crazy even to you.

Kendall: Well, when you put it that way, sure. But I told you, I've been there before, but I know the way out.

Ethan: Evidently not.

Kendall: No, I grew up with strangers who claimed they were my parents. I was always searching for clues, trying to make some sense out of my life. I never felt like I belonged with the people who raised me. And then one day, one day I overheard my adoptive parents talking about how they got the dog the same time they got me. That's how I found out. All these years, they were keeping that secret from me.

Ethan: Could be they thought it was for your own good.

Kendall: Yeah, well, still, I felt like there was this connection I had to something or someone and it was driving me crazy.

Ethan: So then you tracked down your birth mother and lived happily ever after?

Kendall: All right. You've done enough homework to know that's way off track. Ever since I was a kid, even into my adult life, I've -- I've felt alone, like I was shut out of some club whose name I didn't even know. And then you show up at Fusion and you feel shut out just like I did. All you want to know is who you really are and -- and why you felt like you never belonged. And then it hit me -- maybe I'm not alone anymore.

Derek: You want to help Jamie -- do his battling for him.

Reggie: I'm going to.

Derek: What, from inside a jail cell? Man, why are you trying to get locked up? Why are you beating on J.R. when you're on probation?

Reggie: J.R. is the bad guy, remember?

Derek: Yeah, but you're the one pressing to get locked up. Now, how dumb is that? Come on, start using your brains for a change.

Reggie: Ok. So coming after J.R. wasn't my smartest move yet, but somebody has to stay on top of him!

Derek: I'm here, aren't I?

Reggie: To talk! And ask questions, and where is J.R., huh? Out doing whatever he wants to do. Think about it, Chief -- J.R. could tell you to go chase yourself, walk out, and he gets away with it!

Derek: For now.

Reggie: Seth admitted to selling to J.R.!

Derek: I know. And the charges against Jamie have been dropped, but we cannot press charges against J.R.

Reggie: So the rich walk, right?

Derek: Come on, Reggie, grow up. No prosecutor would consider putting Seth on the stand because no judge and no jury would consider him a credible witness.

Reggie: Ok. You got a point.

Derek: And so do you. I mean, no doubt J.R. gets breaks because of who he is.

Reggie: And it sucks!

Derek: Well, you know, the wealthy and the well-educated -- they get the best lawyers. And sometimes, juries give them way more credit than they deserve.

Reggie: Let them walk because they're rich and famous.

Derek: Well, the system's not perfect.

Reggie: It's screwed up -- that's what it is!

Derek: Sometimes.

Reggie: So what are we supposed to do -- just roll over?

Derek: Brother, what we can't do is let our anger and our own prejudice get in our own way.

Reggie: So we just roll over?

Derek: All right, you know what? You -- you do it your way. You rush right in without thinking and you see where that gets you.

Reggie: Oh, don't give me that turn-the-other-cheek crap.

Derek: Look, patience and determination can be a very effective weapon.

Reggie: It's so old, though!

Derek: But it still works. Think things through. Use your power effectively. You know what? Idiots -- idiots that use their fists and lead -- they're the ones that go down first. Reggie, I see it all the time. Don't you?

Joe: Of course you realize both with the trauma and the surgery, he's not going to be looking--

Brooke: Oh, Joe, he can be green and sprouting tubes. He will never look better to me because we know he's all right.

Joe: I'll look in on him later on, ok? Yeah. Ok. Thanks.

Tad: Thank you.

J.R.: I heard Jamie was up here.

Tad: That's right.

J.R.: And that he's going to be all right.

Tad: Maybe, now that he's out of surgery and that they've dropped the charges.

J.R.: That's great. That's really great. Jamie's been through enough.

[J.R. sighs]

J.R.: I want to put this behind us. I'm willing to forget about the drugging and the accusations.

Tad: I'm not. And I don't think your brother's going to be able to forget about it, either.

Krystal: Babe?

Babe: Oh, Mama, it's good news.

Krystal: Honey, listen, why don't you make yourself scarce?

J.R.: I'd like to hear that from Jamie.

Tad: Well, I'd like you to leave.

J.R.: Oh, come on.

Tad: Do it. Or so help me God, I will throw you out.

J.R.: You know, I'll call Jamie when he's feeling better. Babe?

Babe: I -- I need to stay and talk with my mom for a little bit.

J.R.: Meet me at the vending machines.

Babe: I thought that it might not be a good idea to come.

Tad: You thought right.

Babe: We were just -- we were worried about Jamie and -- Tad, J.R., he really -- I'm sorry.

Tad: You're not the one that needs to apologize.

Krystal: Jamie could have died.

Babe: I know. I am, like, sick with worry --

Krystal: And it's J.R.'s fault, honey. It is.

Babe: I'm sorry. I'm -- I'm so, so sorry.

Kendall: I was a fairy-tale junkie. Before I even knew Erica Kane walked the earth, I decided I was born in a palace -- yes -- filled with ivory and gold, sort of like the Taj Mahal, but bigger.

Ethan: Don't think small, eh?

Kendall: No, no, of course not. I was royalty.

Ethan: And what, the evil queen mum cast you out?

Kendall: Oh, no, no, never. King Daddy and Queen Mommy would've fought to the death for me. I was the light of their lives. It was an evil wizard.

Ethan: Oh, they -- they like to gum it up.

Kendall: Don't they? Yeah, he was King Daddy's top advisor and he envied me, so he stole me away one night and took me somewhere far, far away.

Ethan: The suburbs?

Kendall: No. To a camp of wandering gypsies. Yeah, my parents were heartbroken. They loved me more than any regular, common riffraff parent could ever love their kids.

Ethan: You obviously don't know many royals, then, do you?

Kendall: This is my fantasy. So they worried so much about me that they became ill and if I wasn't returned, they would die long before their time. So, I decided to leave the camp of gypsies and go after the castle and save my parents from a certain agonizing death.

Ethan: And did you, in your daydreams?

Kendall: Oh, yes, of course. I battled dragons and giant, rabid hamsters.

[Kendall chuckles]

Kendall: I was a heroine and I triumphed every time. You'd be surprised how many awful, distressing days my imagination got me through.

Ethan: Tell it to somebody who wasn't abducted by pirates as a kid.

Ryan: No girlfriends, no lovers -- you didn't find any?

Aidan: A woman that we both know -- Maria Grey. Why didn't you just come out and ask?

Ryan: Well, I didn't know if you knew.

Aidan: So you let me down gently? That's nice of you. But, yeah, back in the day of Maureen Gorman, Zach and her had a thing together.

Ryan: Interesting fit, isn't it? A guy who's trying to hide his past with a woman who can't remember hers?

Aidan: Yeah, but that -- there's something about this guy that's very, very sketchy and the deeper I dig, the bigger the question marks.

Ryan: You see, I feel like if we can just dust off his past, then we'll kind of get a -- a fix on his next move.

Aidan: What, you got a bad feeling about this, too?

Ryan: Deep in my gut, I know that Zach is plotting something.

Aidan: Do you ever think it might be murder?

Ryan: Does Edmund know about Zach and Maria?

Aidan: Yeah, he knows.

Ryan: Well, then maybe he just wants Zach to be the guy on the phone planning to kill someone.

Aidan: What, just to cause trouble for the guy?

Ryan: Well, yeah, like, you know, "You bedded my wife, so I think you're the one planning to kill someone."

Aidan: No, it's not just somebody.

Ryan: Edmund thinks that he's the target?

Aidan: Yeah, it's something to consider. Zach is crazy about Maureen. Maybe he still is. Maybe Zach's thinking, "If I can just get Edmund out of the way."

Ryan: Yeah, but Zach is interested in more than just Maria. I mean, he's awfully close to Kendall and to Erica, Bianca --

Aidan: What?

Ryan: His casino.

Aidan: Which one?

Ryan: The one that everybody's going to be at for Bianca's fundraiser.

Aidan: What, so you think his plan is to bring everyone there together?

Ryan: Well, do you think he's really trying to raise money for charity?

Aidan: So then what is his plan, then?

Ryan: I don't know, but until I do, I'm calling the whole thing off.

Aidan: No, hold on, hold on.

Ryan: No! I don't want anyone to get hurt here!

Aidan: Serious -- this event could be exactly what we need to bring Slater out in the open.

Ethan: Did Michael ever mention Hannah Nichols?

Kendall: Oh, oh, your birth mother. No. No, no, no. I'm quite sure he didn't. You're trying to locate her?

Ethan: No luck, you know. Oh, and it seems after she wrote that letter, she might as well have evaporated.

Kendall: Well, what about somebody that she was close with, like a brother or a sister?

Ethan: Hannah was all alone in the world.

Kendall: Which means you are now, too.

Ethan: I feel more sure now than ever that the couple who raised me -- they kept the secret from me out of kindness. And if Alexander, Sr. had known where I was, he'd have swooped down on me and tried to mold me into my father's golden image, and then what would Uncle Michael have done?

Kendall: Lost it even sooner?

Ethan: It's one tainted bloodline -- Cambias -- maybe best forgotten.

Kendall: Meaning what?

Ethan: Maybe I shouldn't challenge Ryan for the family business, you know? Maybe I should just -- just get out of Pine Valley.

Kendall: No -- no! Ethan, no, I won't let you.

J.R.: What is all this?

Derek: J.R. what brings you here?

J.R.: Why isn't he in jail?

Derek: You mean Reggie?

J.R.: Yeah. He assaulted me. I asked you to arrest him.

Derek: Isn't that just a little extreme?

J.R.: Reggie could've broken my jaw if you hadn't shown up.

Derek: Well, when I got there, you had given as good as you got, so why don't you just call it even.

J.R.: Really? Because I call it breaking the law. Book him!

Derek: Well, I have a responsibility to the taxpayers to save them money.

J.R.: Well, the law is the law.

Derek: Reggie? Did you really intend to harm J.R.?

Reggie: I tried to -- no, I -- I was upset about Jamie. You know, I just wasn't thinking clearly.

[J.R. chuckles]

J.R.: You know, you're full of it. That's all right, Frye. I'll press charges without you.

Derek: Well, it's your word against Reggies.

J.R.: And Babe's. Babe was there, too.

Derek: Is this what you want, Babe?

Babe: We were all on edge and things did get out of hand, but I think that we should let everything go.

Derek: I'm going to see if I can't track down Joe Martin.

Reggie: Yo, Frye? I mean, Chief Frye? Thanks.

Derek: Well, you know what? You deserve a break, too, for a change. But if you go off again, you use your fists instead of your head, I'm going to bust you just like anybody else.

Danielle: What's up with you and my dad?

Reggie: I don't know. I'm -- I'm really trying to figure him out.

[Babe sighs]

Maggie: You know, Babe, J.R. is responsible for all of this.

Babe: He is my husband.

Maggie: So you're just going to stand by him? What, are you going to be the dutiful, protective wife no matter what he does? How can you live with him? And how can you live with yourself knowing that J.R. almost had Jamie killed?

Krystal: I didn't mean to take you away or anything --

Tad: No, no, no, no, it's ok. He looks better than he did just a few minutes ago.

Krystal: But he's still unconscious.

Tad: Well, that's part of the plan -- he won't be able to give us any lip for about another hour.

[Krystal chuckles]

Tad: I want to thank you. I don't -- I don't think I would've been able to make it through this thing without you.

Krystal: Oh, sure, you could.

Tad: No, no, I mean it. Having you here with me is -- well, it's meant the -- what's wrong? You run out of lectures? I was just telling Krystal that he's not going to be able to talk back for a little while.

[Tad and Krystal laugh]

Tad: It's ok, sweetheart. Shh. It's ok.

Brooke: I -- oh, God. I don't know why I'm doing this. I'm -- I'm happy. Really, I'm happy.

Krystal: Honey? Honey, you were scared to death. You have every right to sob yourself silly.

Brooke: Well, somebody stop me. Oh.

Tad: I could tell a joke.

Brooke: No!

Krystal: You know what you need?

Brooke: What?

Krystal: You need a little hydration.

Brooke: Oh, more water? Good!

Krystal: No, no. Maybe coffee or a little bit of what Tad's got hidden in his dad's bookcase.

Tad: Oh, now, you're talking. What do you think, huh?

Krystal: Come on, let's celebrate.

Brooke: No, I can't leave Jamie.

Tad: No, no --

Brooke: I --

Tad: You're not leaving, ok? Dad said he'd be out for a while longer. It'll take five minutes and he'll never know we were gone. Come on.

Brooke: Ok.

Tad: Come on.

Aidan: Look, here's what I'll do -- I'll lay low and I'll stay close. If Slater wants to start anything, I won't let him finish, but don't cancel the fundraiser. I'll put together a security strategy and then I'll fill you in, ok?

Ryan: All right. I won't cancel the fundraiser, but I will need some backup.

Aidan: And you'll get it.

Ryan: Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait -- wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. There's some more potential destruction that I should fill you in on -- courtesy of Kendall.

Ethan: You seem to care more about my birthright than I do.

Kendall: I just don't like to see people cheated out of what's theirs.

Ethan: It's my choice if I want to walk away.

Kendall: Yeah, but you flew all the way to the United States. After doing that, why would you?

Ethan: Why is it so important to you that I stay, hmm? And don't give me the fantasy-filled childhood bit. Try something original like the truth, ok? What do you want?

Kendall: Fusion and Enchantment.

Ethan: Oh, greedy much?

Kendall: No, I have a lot invested in both companies, financially and emotionally.

Ethan: You hold a lot of stock, do you?

Kendall: Yeah, but not enough to hold both companies in the palm of my hand.

Ethan: But surely, if I stay and prove my paternity, then both companies would be mine?

Kendall: Yeah, but you only own -- that's only like one corner of the Cambias empire.

Ethan: Oh, I see. So there's plenty to go around?

Kendall: Oh, I can help you, and you wouldn't forget your friends, would you?

Ethan: I've been known to spring for a few drinks in my time, but a few companies?

Kendall: I can run them. I'm very good at everything I do.

Ethan: I don't doubt it.

Kendall: I can help you win this fight, Ethan.

Ethan: Because if I win, you win?

Kendall: I won't lose again, no, not to Ryan and Greenlee. So, we have a deal?

Ethan: What is it with you and those two? Why the bad blood?

Kendall: "Bad"? Try toxic. Ryan and Greenlee are not to be trusted. Oh, sure, they'll put their hand out to you, they'll pretend to be your friend and pretend to do right by you. But if you trust one word out of Ryan's mouth, he'll decimate you.

Maggie: What are you waiting for? Be the loving wife that you are. Tell me -- tell me what a misunderstood, great guy he is.

Babe: I can't. I can't defend anything.

Tad: I swear, I think this hospital is using the coffee to get patients.

Krystal: Honey, that's an easy diagnosis -- you turn down the bourbon. It's not the coffee. It's you.

Tad: Gas?

Krystal: In the exact spot where Jamie was stabbed?

Tad: That's right.

Krystal: Uh-huh.

Tad: Huh.

Krystal: Here, sit down. Sit down. So, you know the line "I feel your pain," right?

Tad: Sure.

Krystal: Well, sometimes, you really do. I know I did with Babe. When she was little, she was so busy running around, she didn't pay attention to what was in her way. I tell you what -- I spent so much time bandaging those cuts and scrapes. And when they were really bad, I felt sympathy pains just as real as her own. You must think I'm an idiot yammering on about cuts and scrapes when your boy nearly died.

Tad: Not at all. I just never thought this would happen again -- not to me anyway.

J.R.: You know, I never wanted you in jail or hurt like this. You know whose fault this is, don't you? My slut of a wife. God, I don't know how I ever got taken in by that. You know, she knew that you were my brother when she came on to you. See, I finally figured it out, Jamie. You were her backup. And when we found out that she was pregnant and she told you it might be yours, that was just to keep you hooked. All her arguing, saying that she wanted only me, telling you to back off -- all lies, reverse psychology. See, Babe's not fit to raise Bess. That's why I drugged her. I had to get rid of her. You'd see that, too, if you weren't so caught up. But Babe has caused us enough problems. I'm going to get her out of the way. That's a promise.

Krystal: Well, what do you mean -- that you never thought you'd feel that again?

Tad: That I'd be so close to a woman, she'd be able to tell me what I was feeling before I had the chance to put the words to it myself.

Krystal: Well, I've been there, you know? I've -- I've felt it.

Tad: And I'm sorry because the last 24 hours of my life has been pure hell. And I swear to God I think this coffee is something they hosed off a driveway.

Krystal: I wish there was something I could do, Tad.

Tad: You have. You are -- just because you're here with me. For that, I am profoundly grateful. Sometimes I just can't help but wonder -- how the heck did you happen?

J.R.: Well, you're looking better. Color's coming back. It's got to be a good thing. Don't worry, Jamie -- I'm going to take care of everything. What are you doing?

Babe: I've been looking for you. J.R., Tad didn't want you in here with Jamie.

J.R.: I love Jamie. People got this screwed-up idea about my brother and me. I had to see him!

Ryan: So, what is your new best friend up to?

Aidan: I don't know, really. But, you know, I kind of think he's a little bit out there, open and honest. But I tell you, I would not trust him as far as I could toss a tank, but then that's just me.

Ryan: So you think he's covering?

Aidan: Well, I'll know when I get a report back from MI-5.

Ryan: What report?

Aidan: I took his fingerprints off of one of the beer bottles, one full, clear, clean set.

Ryan: Wow, you don't mess around, man. So tell me something -- did you take my prints when I came back into town?

Aidan: No. Only the strangers that turn up into town and spell trouble. I just like to know what I'm up against.

Kendall: With me, you can win. With Ryan, no matter whose blood is running through your veins, he'll drain you dry and then grind you into dust.

Ethan: I came here with my own trouble. I don't want yours, too.

Kendall: Well, if you stick around, just watch your back around Ryan and Greenlee and know that I'm on your side. If you hop on the next plane, you'll be leaving what's rightfully yours and what your grandfather obviously wanted you to have.

Ethan: London is not going anywhere.

Kendall: Good. Good, great. All right. Well, then, Mr. Stranger, how about I show you the town? Oh, Mirandas fundraiser -- it's perfect.

Ethan: You lost me.

Kendall: We're having this great, big fundraiser tomorrow evening. Everyone will be there. It's the perfect chance for you to learn the lay of the land.

Ethan: Tomorrow -- I'm sorry, I can't.

Kendall: Yeah, but you can rub shoulders with all of Pine Valley's power elite.

Ethan: You're not it?

Kendall: You can't say no.

Ethan: Other plans.

Kendall: And you won't tell me what?

Ethan: Right.

Kendall: Well, then I will be in touch.

Ethan: And I will look forward to it.

Kendall: Hmm. Bye.

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Kendall: You guys think I'm going to cause a scene when Ryan and Greenlee get here.

Bianca and Erica: Are you?

Ethan: You offered me money. I've decided to take it.

Babe: J.R. brought this to me this morning. David, I want you to test it.

J.R.: You want me to kill Babe?

Adam: I want Babe to kill you. You can't balk at anything. Because I am going to find any piece of dirt on Kevin that I can. No, no -- in fact, I am going to ruin him! I am not going to be satisfied until he is completely and utterly destroyed.
