All My Children Transcript Thursday 7/22/04
Proofread by Gisele
Adam: Everything is coming along quite nicely.
Maggie: There you are. You know what? You are a worthless, skeevy piece of no-good --
Adam: Whoa, whoa, just stop right there. Get out of my house, now.
Maggie: Or what? You're going to have me arrested, too?
Adam: Would you control your friend?
J.R.: Dad, it's all right. What? What happened?
Maggie: Like you don't know. You planted more than your butt in our couch last night, J.R.
J.R.: Bianca, would you fill me in?
Bianca: We know why Jamie was arrested.
Maggie: Just like you planned. Your buddy Seth's lie wasn't big enough, and the cops found the drugs that you planted in our couch.
J.R.: You think I set him up?
Maggie: The exact same drug that put Babe in the hospital. Are you proud of yourself, J.R.?
J.R.: Maggie, I swear, I would never do anything like that.
Maggie: You know, swear to someone who believes you, because I know that you're full of it.
Adam: This is quite pathetic.
Maggie: J.R., fess up. Come on, I know as stone-cold fact that that couch was a drug-free zone before you sat there. Bianca, am I right? You were there.
Bianca: Jamie has never been into drugs.
J.R.: Bianca, do you think that I would do something that messed up to my brother?
Babe: I'd like to know, too. Do you believe it, Bianca?
Danielle: Can you just wait for Maggie and Bianca to get back?
Reggie: What good would that do?
Danielle: It's better than you doing something crazy.
Reggie: Well, we don't even know where they went to look for J.R. I'm not going to sit here and play games with you.
Danielle: How are you going to help Jamie?
Reggie: I'm going to hit the streets. Somebody's got to know something about Seth, what deal he made, what's he up to.
Danielle: You're tripping. You want to join James in a jail cell, or even worse?
Reggie: Well, at least on the streets, I know who my enemies are.
Tad: You got these off of Jamie's computer?
Derek: And his PDA. Those are e-mails to and from Seth Phelps. And these appear to be e-mails to Babe -- that Jamie never sent.
Tad: "Dear Babe, I don't care what the test said. Bess should be ours. Every night, I fall asleep holding on to the dream we'll be together."
Brooke: "I love you so completely I'll make you forget J.R. ever existed."
Tad: Derek, my son didn't write this. He doesn't do gooey.
Brooke: Wait, wait. There's a mention here. Do you remember that crush he had on Joanna Bandler in second grade? Who else would have known about that?
Jamie: Prove J.R. did it.
David: First, I'm going to need you.
Jamie: Is this the part where you break me out? So what's the plan? Slip the guard your castration drug? Make him sterile? Or we could go with the old favorite, Libidozone. Drug the whole station and then we can slip out during the orgy.
David: Great. You've got your father's sense of humor.
Jamie: And his good looks. And his smarts about people like you. You see, he's got this theory. No one should ever trust you.
David: I want to help.
Jamie: Especially when you want to help.
David: Look, I've never kept it a secret that I dislike your father. And frankly, I'm not that crazy about you, either. But you might be the only way that I can save my daughter.
Jamie: I am not teaming up with you.
David: I guess I didn't make myself clear. I'm not giving you a choice, Martin. You will help me save Babe from your brother.
Reggie: Can you move, please?
Reggie: I can move you with one hand.
Danielle: Whatever. I studied martial arts for two whole weeks. I can think myself 100 pounds heavier.
Reggie: Well, think yourself out of my way.
Danielle: So you can get busted? Forget it.
Reggie: My best friend is behind bars. I'm not going to let 100 pounds -- ok, maybe 200 pounds of girl get in my way. I have to find out what Seth's up to.
Danielle: Well, there has to be another way.
Reggie: Like what?
Danielle: I mean, we can sneak into the Chandler house and get proof J.R.'s guilty.
Reggie: Like we're going to find a diary. "Dear Diary, I've done something very bad today. I framed my brother, Jamie." Yeah, right.
Danielle: Well, J.R. had to pay Seth for the drugs and to get out of town. Maybe there's a paper trail, messages -- something.
Reggie: Dani, this is not like buying a pair of shoes.
Danielle: Well, it's worth a shot.
Reggie: Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. You want to save my probation by having me commit a felony, breaking and entering?
Danielle: I can talk my way in and out of anything. We wouldn't get caught.
Reggie: I am so glad you're not my lawyer.
Danielle: Well, you have a better idea?
Reggie: Yeah. We can go down to the police station. You go talk to the chief, put on that "Daddy's little girl" routine. It'll work perfectly, while I'm in the 5-0 files finding out the scoop on Seth.
Danielle: Who's being ridiculous now? Daddy catches you in the records room and it's sayonara.
Reggie: Well, I guess there's only one thing we got to do. Go back to plan A.
Reggie: Well, just wait here for Bianca and Maggie to get back, all right?
Danielle: Reggie, you can't. You can't. I can't lose you.
Reggie: You can't lose me?
Jamie: So this is how you make up for missing 20 years of Father's Day? You ride in to save the day and take out everyone in your way?
David: I'll do whatever it takes to protect my daughter.
Jamie: Mostly, dads just hand out cigars.
David: You listen to me. I don't give a damn whether you spend the rest of your life behind bars playing this comedy routine. But you will give me answers.
Jamie: I'm sorry. I'm fresh out.
David: Come on, I heard you at the groundbreaking ceremony. You accused J.R. of setting you up, and I believe you.
Jamie: I don't care what you believe.
David: Well, you should, because unless we stop J.R. --
Jamie: There is no "we."
David: He's going to play this out until he gets what he wants, and he doesn't give a damn who he sacrifices.
Jamie: Well, you seem to have it all figured out. You don't need me.
David: Yes, I do. I need something that you can give me, something concrete.
Jamie: Why don't you go ask your daughter?
David: Are you kidding me? J.R. has got her so confused, she doesn't know what to believe. So she's hanging on to the only thing she's got, her marriage. But she's so determined to protect J.R., no matter what he says, unless someone proves that he's guilty.
Jamie: And that would be you?
David: Look, I know we don't like each other, but that doesn't mean that we can't work together to get Babe out of that house.
Jamie: A truce?
David: We both want the same thing, Jamie. And unless I miss my mark, despite our differences, we both love Babe. Don't we?
Tad: I can think of one other person that would know about a crush that Jamie had in second grade. His brother.
Brooke: Well, I can't believe that. I can't. I mean, J.R. and Jamie have always been so tight, and even that thing with Babe -- they got past that and they seem to be as close as they ever were.
Tad: Or not.
Brooke: Are you saying that you think that J.R. would have deliberately fabricated these e-mails and used information that only he and Jamie would know to send his own brother to jail and ruin his future? Why would he do that?
Livia: Anybody could have planted those e-mails.
Derek: Anybody with an intimate knowledge of Jamie's life.
Livia: You know there is not one shred of direct evidence linking Jamie to these e-mails. Any idiot with access to a computer could have planted these.
Derek: Well, you know what, Livia? That's for a jury to decide, and there's plenty here to help them make that decision.
Brooke: "S, meet me at the pump house. Jamie."
Tad: "Jamie, I've got what you want. S." And we're supposed to assume automatically that S stands for Seth Phelps?
Derek: Check out the e-mail address. That's Seth's mailbox. There's no doubt.
Brooke: Wait a minute. All of these e-mails from this Seth -- this is the only connection that we have as far as drugs and Jamie. Is that correct? I would like to talk to this guy, this Seth. Can we set that up?
Livia: Well, you've cut Seth a fabulous deal for rolling over on my client. The least you can do is let us have a sit-down chat with the clown.
Derek: It's out of my hands.
Tad: Since when?
Derek: Since Arch Madden got involved. There's just no way he's going to let you anywhere near Seth.
Tad and Brooke: Arch Madden?
Brooke: The paid-for-hire celebrity mouthpiece?
Tad: Is willing to represent a second-string lowlife like Seth Phelps?
Livia: You got to be kidding me.
Brooke: How does a kid like that afford a lawyer for the rich and famous?
Livia: Madden doesn't get out of his private jet for less than 200 large. Something definitely stinks.
Tad: Yeah, and I smell a giant silver-haired rat.
Adam: Maggies lost it. She's grabbing at anything that looks better than the truth.
Maggie: Jamie did not put those drugs there.
Adam: Neither did J.R. Babe, do you honestly believe that the father of your child could have done anything that despicable to his own brother?
Babe: Bianca, do you believe that my husband framed Jamie?
Bianca: This is crazy. They're both great guys. I grew up with them. I don't know what to believe.
J.R.: Of course she's confused. Who wouldn't be? It's all upside down right now.
Maggie: Because you turned it over. You were on that couch. Are you really going to try and deny it?
J.R.: No. You're right, I was. I came over there claiming to apologize. I sat on the couch. I planted drugs to frame Jamie. That's what you want to hear. That's what it would take to set him free. But I didn't do it. I would do anything to save my brother, but this -- this is out of my hands.
Maggie: You are so full of it.
J.R.: Do you think I want to believe that he drugged my wife, that he's so sick that he'd sleep with her when she's totally out of it?
Maggie: Oh, please, stop it.
J.R.: I don't. But there are facts that I cannot ignore no matter how much I love Jamie.
Maggie: Babe, are you falling for this? Bianca, please, will you please talk to her and set her straight?
Babe: She doesn't have to. I already know the truth. He loves his family. And you don't know him the way that I do. There's no way that J.R.'s capable of shredding Jamie's life.
Adam: Bianca, do you have something to add?
Bianca: Well, almost everybody knows what you did to J.R.'s mom, Adam. I don't know why you would do this, but did you frame Jamie?
J.R.: I swear, if you did anything to hurt Jamie, it is over for us for good.
Adam: J.R., please --
J.R.: I swear, I'll pack up my daughter and my wife. You will never hear from us ever again.
Babe: And I will be right behind you.
Adam: J.R. -- J.R., I -- I know I did a terrible thing to your mother, and I've made some horrible mistakes in my life, but I hope I've learned from them. And I hope that I've become a man -- a father that you can trust.
Maggie: Oh, my God. I'm going to hurl.
J.R.: So, you didn't?
Adam: No! No, I could never hurt Jamie any more than you could.
J.R.: I'm sorry, Dad. I'm sorry that I didn't trust you.
Adam: Oh, it's all right. You're upset. I understand.
Maggie: What is this? Chandler Family Theater?
Adam: I can understand, Bianca, why you would doubt me, considering my reputation. But I swear to you, on the life and the love I have for my son, that I had nothing to do with what happened to Jamie.
Maggie: Neither did Jamie.
Adam: Perhaps if you spent a little less time having sex with Jamie in someone else's limousine, then your -- your judgment wouldn't be so clouded.
Maggie: Bianca, don't listen to what he's saying. They're both in on this.
J.R.: I'm sorry you feel that way.
Maggie: Excuse me. This is ridiculous. Mm-hmm --
Adam: No, no, no, no --
Adam: Where do you think you're going?
Maggie: I am going to see if J.R. has any e-mails in his computer.
Adam: No, no, you're not. No, you don't, no.
Maggie: If you're so sure of your son's innocence, then what's the problem?
Adam: This is private property.
J.R.: No, no, Dad, it's all right. If it makes Maggie happy, let her go.
Adam: I am not going surrender control of my house to a street urchin.
Maggie: Thank you, but I am pre-med.
Adam: No, you're leaving.
Bianca: Stop it! Let her go.
Maggie: Bianca, are you coming?
Bianca: I'm not ready.
Maggie: You're siding with them?
Bianca: Maggie, it's not about sides.
Maggie: No. Whatever. Just -- just watch your back, all right? You can't listen to a word they say. Thank you.
Adam: Good riddance.
J.R.: I'm sorry, Babe. That was so brutal.
Babe: Hey, she's just furried. I mean, we all are.
J.R.: I can't believe everything has just blown up like this, splitting our whole family apart.
Babe: Not us, not our family.
Jamie: All this crud about defending Babe, protecting your one and only -- it's all cover. You're all about decimating the Chandlers. You'll use what you got, and you'll use Babe to get the job done.
David: Why don't you shut the hell up and try to hear what I'm saying to you?
Jamie: Because you hate the Chandlers just about as much as you hate me and my dad. You'll do anything to take them out. Use your daughter? Why not? You're slime.
David: Well, you've proven it once again. You Martins really are dumber than you look.
Tad: Derek, it just doesn't make sense. How does a street-level pusher working playgrounds make enough money to afford a lawyer like Arch Madden?
Derek: None of my business. The man is just another attorney to me.
Livia: Come on, I can understand if Seth were connected, a real player. He might have enough cash stashed in his mattress to pay Madden, but come on.
Brooke: The Phelps family has money, but they don't have that kind. You know, doesn't that bother you that somebody obviously behind the scenes is trying to obstruct justice?
Derek: Well, some people use money, and some play their friendship.
Livia: That was uncalled for.
Derek: I hope so.
Tad: I'll bet you every dime in my 401k that Adam's behind this, and that scares the hell out of me.
Tad: Because if Adam's in it that deep, then J.R. has to be.
Danielle: All I meant was that you could wreck your probation, get hurt, or even killed.
Reggie: You know I'm not going to let that happen.
Danielle: Well, you end up dead, you can't help Jamie.
Reggie: Oh, so that's the only person you're worried about is Jamie?
Danielle: What else? Oh, you thought I had some, like, majorly deep thing going on? Please, we had fun, but --
Reggie: Oh, don't deny it, Danielle. You know you want some of Reggie.
Danielle: Bring down the ego, player. I'm just trying to watch out for your backside.
Reggie: Well, then, watch me out of here, because I have things to do. Important things, as a matter --
Reggie: See? That's for me. And another important person calling me on my VIP list. Yo, Reggie speaking.
Derek: Reggie, Derek Frye.
Reggie: Oh, I'm sorry. You must have the wrong number.
Derek: Reggie, don't hang up. Put Danielle on the phone.
Reggie: Danielle, as in your daughter, Danielle? Why are you calling my phone?
Derek: Because I'm on to you, dog. Now, let me talk to her.
Reggie: Yeah, I would love to, but, you know, your phone's breaking up. So much static.
Derek: Cut out that mess, all right, Reggie? Look, I know she's there with you.
Reggie: Hold on.
Derek: Danielle, honey, I need you to do me a favor.
Danielle: Sure. Anything you want.
Derek: I want you to bring Reggie here to the station.
Danielle: Uh -- but, Daddy --
Derek: In return, I will overlook the fact that you are with him, even though you're supposed to be grounded.
Danielle: I'm not sure I can do that, sir.
Derek: Don't "sir" me. Just bring Reggie here.
Danielle: So you can lock him up with Jamie?
Derek: I just want to talk, I promise. He has a round-trip ticket in and out.
Danielle: I'll try.
Derek: Don't try, Dani. Just do it.
Reggie: What's the teeth for?
Derek: How would you like to go see my dad?
Reggie: You got to be kidding me.
J.R.: Bianca, I know how close you and Maggie are. I just hope that this doesn't screw up your friendship.
Bianca: Maggie is just worried about Jamie.
J.R.: So am I. And I'm going to do something about it.
Bianca: You know, J.R., things are crazy enough as it is.
J.R.: Well, there's nothing crazy about talking to his lawyer. I overheard Tad. He's hired Olivia to defend him.
Bianca: So what are you going to do?
J.R.: Well, I'm going to make sure she has everything she needs, right down to the paper clips, so Jamie can beat this.
Babe: Jamie is so, so lucky to have you as a brother.
J.R.: I just don't want to lose him.
Babe: I know.
Adam: If he hurt Babe, you should lose him. All right, all right. I know, you do what you have to do. I understand.
J.R.: I'll be back.
Babe: Ok. You see? No way would J.R. work so hard to protect Jamie if he'd set him up, right?
Adam: You know, J.R.'s right about one thing. His family and our friends have taken quite a hit. In all of the chaos, I'd completely forgotten to mention the dedication to the Miranda Montgomery Center is really quite beautiful. I'd like to make a donation.
Bianca: No. You know, J.R. has already been more than generous.
Adam: It would be an honor. I'll write a check.
Bianca: I should get going.
Babe: Please, don't. You and Maggie -- you guys have been friends for, like, forever, right? And she fully believes that Jamie's innocent, doesn't she?
Babe: I love J.R. more than my whole life, but -- and Jamie's also been good to me. Bianca, it really weirded me out, what she said about J.R. going over there and sitting on that couch where the drugs were found.
Bianca: You know, everybody sits on that couch. It's the only comfortable piece of furniture they have in that apartment. But for what it's worth, I just can't picture Jamie trying to drug you.
Babe: Do you think that J.R. --
Bianca: No, no. J.R. couldn't have done it, either.
Bianca: How could any father do something so horrible to the mother of his child?
David: Try to get this into your thick skull. I want to protect Babe. I don't give a damn about getting back at the Chandlers.
Jamie: I'll make sure no one touches Babe.
David: Oh, yeah, and you're doing a bang-up job of it, too. So while you're in here braying about protecting Babe, J.R. is out there, already setting his sights on his next shot. Look, just tell me what you have on J.R. help me to protect Babe before it's too late.
Jamie: You are just raring to serve my brother up to the cops.
David: If it's what he deserves.
Jamie: This is what you don't get. I hate what J.R. did, but I love him. My brother needs help just as much as Babe does, and I want to make sure he gets it. I do not want his life blowing up in his face.
David: Obviously, the feelings aren't mutual. He doesn't seem to give a damn about your life.
Jamie: No, J.R.'s screwing up, but he doesn't deserve you barging into his house in the middle of the night with a torch and a pitchfork.
David: And what about Babe, Jamie? What does she deserve? For crying out loud. If anything happens to her --
Jamie: It won't.
David: Can you be even more naive?
Jamie: No, I have faith in family.
Tad: Well, I guess that makes three of us.
David: Great. I hear a song coming on.
Tad: It just kills you, doesn't it? Is there anything you could arrest him for, like impersonating a human being?
David: You think long and hard about what I said, for Babe's sake.
Brooke: Derek, don't make me talk to my son behind bars.
Brooke: We believe you.
Babe: Oh --
Babe: You like Mr. Bunny, don't you? Oh, honey, you are so smart already.
Bianca: She is.
Babe: How about you ask your godmama something for me?
Bianca: Well, you can ask me anything. You know that, Bess.
Babe: What do you think of my marriage to J.R.?
Bianca: I might not be the best expert on heterosexual relationships.
Babe: Bianca, please. You know what I need to know. Don't make me say it.
Bianca: I've never seen anything but love between you. J.R. -- he's so protective of you. He dotes on you, Babe.
Babe: But what about when I'm not around? Has he ever done or said anything that makes it seem like he's unhappy?
Bianca: No, not at all. J.R. seems totally into you and Bess.
Babe: Bianca, I know that -- that you and J.R., you guys go way back, but would you tell me if he --
Bianca: Yes, absolutely, Babe. You guys seem like the poster couple for monogamy.
Babe: So what Jamie said about J.R. wanting to hurt me --
Bianca: I just don't see it, Babe. You've made J.R. so happy. You gave him a daughter. I just don't see him messing that up, or hurting you.
Babe: Thank you.
Bianca: But Jamie has always seemed so straight, so dependable, I -- the Jamie I know would never drug you to try to get you into bed. I don't want that to be true, either.
Jamie: Can you believe it? Hayward totally tried to recruit me. Like I would fall for that dynamic duo schtick. The two of us out to save Babe.
Brooke: Jamie, whatever we think about Hayward -- I mean, I think it's understandable that he's so worked up. If you think about it, you know, he's working with everything he's got in order to protect Babe because everything he's got was not enough to save Leora.
Tad: Sure. If he were a human being, I might buy that.
Jamie: Yeah, Dad's right. Hayward's more interested in taking out J.R. than he is taking care of Babe. Oh -- hey, what's the word? When do I get out of here?
Livia: I'm doing everything I can. I'm going to push the bail hearing forward.
Brooke: Will Jamie have to spend the night in jail?
Livia: I'm working on that, but there's a distinct possibility.
Tad: Oh, gee.
Jamie: Mom, it's ok. Just think of it as camp. You know, like a sleepover.
Brooke: You're old enough to reassure me now?
Livia: Don't worry. We will beat this. They're not our little boys forever.
Tad: Before I forget, I've got something for you.
Jamie: Reading material?
Tad: The police say they got these off your computer. Look familiar?
Jamie: What the -- they actually think I wrote these?
Tad: They're counting on it.
Jamie: I haven't written anything this dumb since the fifth grade --
Jamie: When I wanted Nancy Story to take her shirt off.
Brooke: More information than I needed.
Jamie: Wow, J.R.'s on a roll. First, the drugs. Now this?
Tad: Whatever's going on, the police are dead serious about this.
Jamie: J.R. must hate my guts.
Brooke: Jamie, we don't know the whole story yet.
Jamie: Yeah, you got that right. J.R.'s out of control.
Brooke: It reeks of Adam. I think that maybe J.R. is just a victim in all of this, maybe.
Tad: I wouldn't count on it. My gut tells me that J.R.'s in the driver's seat, which means Adam's simply a navigator. Guard?
Jamie: I got to get out of here. I got to talk to J.R. before he crashes and burns. You guys got to help me.
Brooke: Don't worry. We will get to the truth. Ok?
Tad: You hang tough. You got a lot of people on your side.
Maggie: Are you sure you're all right? You look sort of out it.
David: It couldn't be more obvious. J.R.'s even the one with the drug history.
Maggie: Well, you should have seen him when he planted his stash. I mean, he was all about apologizing to his brother, when all he was doing was setting him up. You know, I knew something was wrong. And Bianca -- she totally bought it.
David: Bianca's way too trusting.
Maggie: Oh, tell me about it. I mean, Adam and J.R. going on and on about poor jamie going psycho. I mean, J.R. -- he even tried to squeeze a tear out. And Babe was right there with the tissue.
David: All right, look, hey, don't be so hard on Babe, all right? I mean, she has to believe in J.R. Otherwise, her whole world falls apart.
Maggie: She really loves him, that's for sure.
David: Yeah, no kidding. That's going to cost her everything. Is this divine retribution or what.
Maggie: What are you talking about?
David: I discover I have this beautiful, sweet daughter. And where is she? Smack in the middle of all my enemies.
Maggie: Well, from what I saw, J.R. really has it out for her, and she just has no clue.
David: She doesn't want to see it, Maggie. Bess and J.R. are her life. So she's going to fight with everything she has to keep them. Unfortunately, the harder she holds on, the deeper the scars.
Maggie: You think that she's already lost them?
David: With everything Babe has gone through with this child, I'm not going to let J.R. take Bess away. What was that for?
Maggie: For being on Jamie's side, and Babe's, and for letting me know that I'm not crazy. And thanks to J.R., the sky really is falling.
J.R.: Hello, Livia.
Livia: Are you a member of the state bar association?
J.R.: No, but I keep a few on retainer.
Livia: Then get out of my chair. Now.
Livia: I'll stand. What can I do for you?
J.R.: Tell me why I shouldn't report you to the ethics committee.
Livia: Hmm. And on what grounds would that be?
J.R.: For representing my brother after all the work you did for me.
Livia: Did you get your legal education on TV?
J.R.: I just want to know what's what.
Livia: Well, there's zero conflict of interest, unless you're exercising a prior claim on my services.
J.R.: And why would I do that?
Livia: The matter of the assault on Babe. Do you need me to represent you, J.R.? Are you involved in the drugging of your wife?
Derek: Reggie, I'm glad you could make it.
Reggie: Yeah. Didn't really have a choice.
Derek: Have a seat. Honey, why don't you stop by Uncle Bob's desk?
Danielle: Oh, I'll visit on the way out.
Derek: Now is good. He needs some advice.
Danielle: Stop wearing the brown socks with the blue uniform for starters?
Derek: It's about Patricia. You know, she's 10 going on 27. He doesn't know how to handle her.
Reggie: Well, why don't you give some advice? You know, you've done so well.
Derek: This won't take long.
Danielle: I'll be right outside the door. All right, all right, I'm going.
Reggie: What's with the hush-hush? I'm listening.
Derek: The Jamie Martin case -- the drug case is a bear. And I need to contain it, clear it up before it gets any uglier, before anybody else gets hurt.
Reggie: Yeah, I'm down with that.
Derek: Good. I hope you'll help me. I'm going to need more than uniforms to crack this case. I'm going to need advice, direction, guidance from somebody on the inside, and I think you can provide that.
Reggie: Oh. See, Derek, where I come from, advice, guidance, direction -- it's called snitching.
Derek: Hmm. I call it a "get out of jail free" card.
Reggie: So what you're telling me is my probation is history? I can rip a tag off a mattress and you can't snap your fingers and send me to prison?
Derek: Depending on the quality of the information. Something tells me it's good.
Reggie: Yeah, it's very good.
Derek: So we have a deal?
Reggie: Let's sweeten up the pot.
Derek: What do you have in mind?
Reggie: Throw in your daughter.
J.R.: What, you think I'm involved with drugging my wife?
J.R.: That's crazy, Livia. I've done nothing, nothing except trust my brother.
Livia: Well, that's great. Since you're innocent, I'm free to represent Jamie.
J.R.: That's great, yeah. You know, it's going to be kind of delicate.
Livia: Yeah. The tricky part would be if I were to find out who really slipped those drugs to Babe.
J.R.: That's all I want. I want the truth, you know, just as long as it sets Jamie free.
Livia: Then you'll be happy to know that as an officer of the court, if I were to have any hard knowledge, I would have to report it.
J.R.: Which you don't.
Livia: The guilty party currently has nothing to worry about.
J.R.: Well, just for my own information, what we've discussed wouldn't be part of your case, would it?
Livia: I would be forbidden from discussing the fact that you were furious with your wife, and the law would prevent me from discussing the fact that you wanted to have her arrested for bigamy so that you could take her daughter away from her.
J.R.: But that's behind me, Livia, like I told you.
Livia: Marriage agrees with you?
J.R.: Oh, yes, there couldn't be anything better.
Livia: How dumb do you think I am?
J.R.: Oh, believe what you want.
Livia: That's all I have, is a belief. Right now my job is to defend Jamie.
J.R.: Hmm, that's good. It's good to know that he's in capable hands.
Livia: Just FYI -- if i were to find proof that a third party was involved, nothing would prevent me from bringing that to the court. In fact, I'd be obliged to.
J.R.: Hmm, well, as an officer of the court, you really think that he was framed?
Livia: I'd bet my career on it.
J.R.: Well, that's great. That's great. You're just the kind of attorney he needs -- with integrity, righteous anger. In fact, I'd like to donate to my brother's defense.
Livia: Oh, I don't want your money.
J.R.: Well, I'm hurt.
Livia: You'll live. But just so we're clear, nothing you and I have discussed can come back to bite you. But we are done for now and for always.
J.R.: Well, it's been swell.
[Cell phone beeps]
J.R.: "Meet me at Babe's new home." Thanks, Dad.
Derek: Where do you get off talking about my daughter like that?
Reggie: You know what I mean? She's got the good stuff, you know.
Derek: You shut your mouth! I'll plant you so far in you'll never see her or anybody again. This is my house. Your daddy can't protect you anymore. If you say one more word about my daughter, I will --
Reggie: I heard. Ok, look, look, I mean, I was just playing. Dang, man, I got you good, didn't I? Look, man, do you think I'm some punk off the street that's going to roll over on his friend? I wouldn't say one word against Jamie, even if he was guilty -- which he is not. So just relax, all right? Your daughter, Dani, is a -- a deal breaker, not a deal maker. So you can take your deal and shove it.
David: Don't worry. If everything goes according to plan, Jamie will be sprung, sooner or later.
Maggie: Thanks. I think.
David: You take care of yourself, ok?
Maggie: All right. Well, what are you going to do?
David: The less you know, the better.
Maggie: Well, don't do anything crazy, all right?
David: I'll do whatever it takes. I'm not going to let the Chandlers take anything away from me, ever again.
Adam: You're wasting your time if you came here to plead Jamie's case or fight about it.
Brooke: I have no intention of fighting you.
Adam: Well, good, because as unfortunate as it is, Jamie's brought this on himself and there's nothing anybody else can do to help him out of it. So I'm not going to waste my time discussing Jamie.
Brooke: Good, because I'm here to talk about J.R.
Tad: What took you so long?
J.R.: What are you doing here?
Tad: What? You mean here, in Dixie's room? This is it. It's amazing how little it's changed since the day your father locked her in here. Take a good look. This is what you want? Your brother locked in prison and the mother of your child locked in a place like this?
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Kendall: There is going to be no next time for you, Jonathan. You are fired.
Tad: I'm trying to throw you a lifeline. Take it before it's too late.
Jamie: Try to imagine what J.R. would do to keep his daughter. Now imagine what danger that puts you in.
