Krystal: Well, good morning, sunshine.

Opal: Well, that's a load off. Obviously, you made it to beddy-bye solo last night. A girlfriend of mine spotted you at BJ's, canoodling with my son.

Krystal: You know what, Opal? You really should hang out with us a little bit. We could get more acquainted, and I promise you I will not canoodle in your presence.

Opal: So you and Tad -- this a regular thing?

Krystal: Well, yeah, fingers crossed. So far, so good.

Opal: No, when pigs fly, honey. There is no way that I could have my baby boy spending time with a woman like me.

J.R.: You ever seen a happier baby?

Stuart: She has her mother's disposition.

J.R.: I was thinking more like my mom's.

Stuart: Oh, Dixie would have loved Babe. I haven't seen Babe this morning. Is she still sleeping?

J.R.: She stayed the night with her friends.

Stuart: You mean even after you told her that you took Bess to the emergency room?

J.R.: And scare her with a false alarm? Besides, Bess and I, we have a great time just by ourselves, don't we? Don't we? Yes.

Stuart: I'm getting a -- I'm getting a bad feeling, J.R.

J.R.: About what? It's a false alarm. Bess is perfect.

Stuart: No, not Bess. You. It's the same kind of feeling I get about Adam sometimes. You're different. I want to know why.

Maggie: Come on, it's just a stupid drinking game, right?

Babe: Hello.

Maggie: You know, I want some coffee. You want some coffee?

Babe: I come bearing sugarcoated sugar for all.

Jamie: And I came to save Maggie from the third degree. She's trying to squeeze out your lie, huh? Yeah, that's kind of the price you pay for playing "I never."

Bianca: Well, Maggies lips are sealed. But I saw all of you chug when Jamie said, "I never lied to my best friend." So somebody better give me something. Jamie? Babe? What did you lie about?

David: Are you sure? You cross-checked the samples, right? And you're telling me that the baby's and the mother's DNA are a perfect match? Good job. Miranda.

Ryan: Was that a punch line?

Kendall: Am I laughing? We can have it all, Ryan. Greenlee as your wife and me as your mistress. You can have me whenever, wherever, and however you want me. How do you like my plan?

Ryan: Subtle reminder -- Kendall -- you, me, Greenlee? Same formula as an H-bomb.

Kendall: Ryan, you need to play catch-up. Things have changed. I've changed, and there's no reason why we can't all have exactly what we want.

Ryan: Yeah? Well, except for that pesky reality.

Kendall: Ryan, this is as real as it gets. I can have a man who makes my skin feel like fire. And you can have the passion only I give you and the peace that Greenlee gives you. And Greenlee -- she'll get her true love back -- Fusion, with a few billion to spare. It's win, win, win.

Ryan: Subtle reminder number two -- I'm still married.

Kendall: Yeah, by name only.

Ryan: Kendall, no, no, no. It's not always "see, want, take." Kendall, yes, my marriage to Greenlee is about business, but I still care about her.

Kendall: Well, aren't you sweet.

Ryan: Listen, just stop, ok, because all you're proposing here is to repackage all of the anger and the jealousy and the distrust, and I'm not going to do that anymore.

Kendall: Ryan, listen to me. I've changed, ok? I really have. I can see what you need, and I want to give it to you so bad. Whatever dishonesty or distrust or any of that stuff, I promise you it will not come from me. I'll go to therapy -- therapy, confession. I will do whatever it takes to make you believe.

[While Reggie plays basketball, flashbacks of Danielle keep running through his mind]

Danielle: Surprise.

Reggie: Yeah, no joke.

Danielle: Nice surprise?

Reggie: You said goodbye once. Is this a remix or something?

Danielle: Totally new tune.

Reggie: You pitched a fit till Mommy "gave me my way"? She give you a week, maybe two?

Danielle: More like forever.

Reggie: Whoa, must have been some kind of fit, huh?

Danielle: I know how to work her. Plus, Daddy helped the cause. Why are you so surprised that I got my way? It's who I am.

Reggie: That's good for you.

Danielle: Better. Daddy's in out of town all summer and Aunt Livia's a workaholic, so I'm just a single girl in the city. Late nights, loud music, and way too much fun.

Reggie: You got it all, don't you?

Danielle: Not quite, but I'm working on it.

Reggie: Oh, you want more? Because I'm tapped out.

Danielle: You still have something left to offer. You.

Reggie: Me?

Danielle: Yeah. Since this isn't good-bye again, how about hello, again? We met here. I whipped your butt in horse right here. No punks, no posing, just me and you -- friends. What do you think?

Reggie: I think I'll pass. It's not really working for me.

Stuart: Things have never really been easy for you, J.R., when you were growing up and these last few years. But no matter what you were going through, whenever I looked in your eyes, I always saw -- I always saw Dixie's sweetness shining through. But now --

J.R.: What? Someone turn the light out? Come on, Uncle Stuart. I'm still me. I'm just -- you know, I'm grown up.

Stuart: With more of Adam than before.

J.R.: His job?

Stuart: No, his edge. You know, his angry edge. What's changed, J.R.?

[Bess coos]

J.R.: Bess. Me. I'm a father now, and it's -- the only thing that matters to me is protecting this little girl and keeping her safe. Part of me wants to fight for her.

Stuart: Because you love her so much.

J.R.: You know, I may have Dad's jaw, but I'm not angry. No, I'm just -- I'm just scared to death. And I'm still me.

Opal: You know, strange but true, but you and me -- now, we got a lot in common.

Krystal: Yeah. Yeah, we both think Tad is a pretty good guy.

Opal: No, no. I mean that we both blew into town like she-wolves on the prowl. Yep, it's true. It's true. I swear, when you showed up with Babe here, I thought I was having my own personal flashback. Of course, I was younger than you when I moved to Pine Valley, but the same come-hither hairdos, the same "howdy, stranger" clothes. It took a long time for me to get this refined, you know. But give yourself time. You, too, will get here eventually.

Krystal: Mm-hmm. And then how is anybody going to tell us apart, Opal?

Opal: What I'm saying is I know where you are coming from, ok? I know about not having a man to count on, hungry mouths to feed, and sometimes a woman has to do things she isn't so proud of, can't quite be the mama that her darling baby needs.

Krystal: Ok, wait, hold on there just a second now. Now, I may dress flashy and talk fast, but I have been a damn fine mama to Babe ever since she was born, and I am proud of that.

Opal: Well, of course you're proud of it. Babe just landed the big megamillion-dollar jackpot here. No more sharing a bathroom or buying your milk with food stamps, hon. You got your own wing. You got a chef that's itching to cook you a steak, and I don't have any problem with that. I'm not judging you. I'm just saying I know what women like you and me have had to do to survive. Done too much, seen too much, know too much, and that is the ugly truth that cannot be scrubbed away.

Krystal: Oh, yeah? Well, dumping my kid off at some state park isn't my ugly truth.

Opal: Well, you had the good fortune not to marry the devil himself. That's one for you. But I bet my new boots that you have made choices for Babe that still gnaw at your soul in the dark of the night.

Krystal: I was sleeping just fine till you came knocking, all right? And Tad is fine, too. Why don't you ask him yourself? He'll tell you that.

Opal: Well, actually, I consulted a higher authority. The minute I heard that the two of you were spending time together, I worked up a chart on you.

Krystal: And that's why you're here? Because of Mars and Venus and the man on the moon? Honey, you need a new hobby.

Opal: I saw a deep, dark secret, Krystal, crouched in your bosom. Now, do you really think you're going to be able to keep it tucked in there for good?

Krystal: Opal, get your nose out of my bosom.

Opal: No, no, it's in the stars, honey, that secret, and it's trailing you like a bear after fresh meat. Now, Tad has had enough. He already lost the best woman that ever lived. Please, don't you hurt him, too.

Maggie: Babe, your lie had to be to Bianca because she's your best friend, right?

Bianca: Babe, you don't have to, but you know you can tell me anything, right?

[Knock on door]

Maggie: Hi.

David: Hey.

Bianca: David, hey.

David: Well, look at this -- you guys are having a party. What a coincidence. Bess had a big night, too, down at the emergency room.

Babe: Oh, God. What happened to Bess?

David: Oh, nothing. Nothing at all, other than her mother's party calendar.

Jamie: Hey, hey, ease up. Babe didn't know. Who brought Bess in?

David: Her father.

Babe: Why wouldn't he tell me? I have to go home. I have to -- I have to see her.

Jamie: Yeah, I'll drive you.

David: Like hell you will. You'll end up with a DUI or wrapped around a tree. I'll take her. Why don't you go get yourself cleaned up, huh? Wash your face, chew on a mint. At least pretend to be the mother Bess deserves.

Jamie: I said ease up.

Maggie: Seriously, David, stop. Come on, Babe, I have a toothbrush for you.

Bianca: What is wrong with you? You just treated Babe like a criminal. She didn't do anything wrong.

David: Bianca, you don't have a clue what Babe has done.

Bianca: What exactly is Babe's crime? Hanging out all night with her friends? Well, then I guess you better let me have it, too, David.

David: Bianca, it is so far beyond that, I don't even know where to begin to explain.

Bianca: Well, let me just explain to you what Babe has been through in the past few months, ok? Between Adam and the flood and that heart infection that you helped her beat, she hasn't stopped fighting once.

David: Well, she managed to kick back tonight, huh, leaving her baby to fend for herself.

Bianca: Now you just sound ridiculous. J.R. is just as much a parent as Babe, and he's perfectly capable of handling the job for one night. Is Bess ok?

David: Yeah. Yeah, she's ok.

Bianca: But neglected, abused, malnourished?

David: No, and that is not the point.

Bianca: Then why go after Babe?

David: Bianca, I have my reasons, and they're damn good ones.

Bianca: I know what they are, or who. You and I have both held new life in our arms. We know how precious it is, and we have both had to say goodbye far too soon. Of course it makes you crazy when you see a child hurt or in need. Of course it does. Me, too. You want to thrash every ungrateful parent who puts himself first. Me, too. But Babe is one of us.

David: No. No, never.

Bianca: She may not have lost a child, but I can promise you she is every bit as grateful to hold Bess every day as I would be to hold Miranda again.

David: Bianca, this bond you think you have with Babe -- it is blinding you to who she really is.

Bianca: Oh, you just hold on one minute there, David. Babe is the woman who brought Miranda into this world. She's the only other person who held Miranda in her arms. She touched my daughter's face. She heard her cry.

David: Bianca, trust me, you don't need to do this right now.

Bianca: You know, when I was grieving Miranda, I stole Babe's baby, but she didn't turn her back on me. She embraced me. She made me Bess' godmother. That woman has more love in her than a thousand mothers. Bess is lucky to have her. I'm lucky to have her.

David: Your trust in people defies logic. I don't know whether to hug you or shake you.

Babe: Do I look ok? Do I look like a mom?

Bianca: You always do.

Babe: Dr. Hayward, if you could just please take me home now.

Maggie: He will. And if he can't be quiet, he's going to be nice.

Jamie: Don't worry. I'll go too, just in case.

Babe: I just want to hold her and make sure she's ok.

David: Bess is going to be fine when she's back in her mother's arms again.

Ryan: Kendall, what's wrong with you, what's wrong with us -- I can't make it better.

Kendall: Yes, but we always end up here together, again and again.

Ryan: Because we always fail.

Kendall: Yeah, well, maybe all of this failure has made us stronger. Maybe it's finally shown us what we need to make this work.

Ryan: I'm sorry, you think this -- you think that you, me, and Greenlee is what we need to make it work?

Kendall: Ok, so maybe you have to stay married to Greenlee for a while to get the SEC off your back. That's fine. That'll give us more time -- time to get closer and time to remember what it's like to love each other again, to take it slow.

Ryan: And after these dates, I just go home to my wife?

Kendall: No, Ryan. Forget that this is crazy, ok? I love you. I love you so much, and I want every single moment with you -- every single moment we can get. You tell me you don't want those moments. Tell me you don't want me, and I'll kiss you on the cheek, and I'll say goodbye. But you won't. You won't because you can't, because you want me as much as I want you.

Reggie: No do-overs. That's how we play it on this court. You say good-bye, it's game over.

Danielle: Now I get it. I hurt your feelings when I said good-bye.

Reggie: Yeah, I cried big ones. I'm still crying. Can't you tell?

Danielle: Talk about drama. You're acting like we were some big deal.

Reggie: No, I'm just making myself clear, ok? I'm done with the fact of your father always trying to slap cuffs on me. I'm done with this "punk or be punked" thing. I'm just done.

Danielle: For someone who's done, you sure keep on talking.

Reggie: Well, I'm just letting you know where we stand.

Danielle: I'm over here, you're over there. You think our paths are never going to cross again? I'm just trying to spare you those awkward moments, you know, make nice with the locals since I'm here to stay.

Reggie: I mean, you and I are cool. Hi, bye. That should just about cover it.

Danielle: Oh, who needs conversation? Any more rejection, I just might take it seriously. Mom, Dad, now you. I must be doing something right.

Reggie: Wait, wait -- your mom doesn't want you? You said you bailed on her.

Babe: J.R.! Oh, God, Mama --

Krystal: What? Baby, what's wrong?

Babe: Where's my baby?

Krystal: What?

Babe: Where is she?

J.R.: Hey, hey, hey. Inside voices. Bess just finished her bottle.

Babe: Bess.

J.R.: What's going on with you?

Babe: Oh, come here, baby. Oh, sweetie, I am so, so sorry. Mommy's sorry. She didn't know, ok? Everything is going to be ok. You're all right. You're just fine.

Krystal: Honey, of course she's just fine. Why wouldn't she be?

Jamie: David said that J.R. brought the baby into the ER last night.

Krystal: What? When? Why didn't you wake me up?

J.R.: You weren't here either. It's fine. It was just a stupid mistake on my end.

Babe: Why wouldn't you tell me? Did this happen before or after I called?

J.R.: Well, when I talked to you on the phone, it just seemed like you were having so much fun.

David: Oh, yeah. Then by all means, forget the baby, right? Just pass the beer bong. Do you have any sense at all?

Jamie: You've been riding Babe since the second you barged into my apartment, and I'm sick of it. Now, thanks for the lift. Shut up and go home.

Krystal: All right, all right. Hang on here. Honey, why don't you just take Bess and give her the mama's once-over. That'll soothe your worries.

J.R.: Yeah, Jamie, don't let Hayward get to you. He loves to thrive on this sort of garbage. I think Uncle Jamie's got dibs on diaper change.

Jamie: I'll watch and learn.

Krystal: What the hell has got you worked up?

David: Oh, I think you already know.

Ryan: Kendall, I'm not telling you this to hurt you, but you can't change. If you could have, you would have a long time ago.

Kendall: Ryan, I swear to you on the one thing that I love most in this world -- on my sister's life -- I swear to you, I'll change. On Bianca, Ryan. Now, don't pretend -- don't pretend that you don't know what that means to me.

Ryan: I do know.

Kendall: Ryan, I know in my heart -- I know in my heart that you love me. I know -- I know in my soul that you don't want to hurt me, and I don't want to hurt you. I -- I don't want to destroy your marriage. I just want to give you -- I want to give you everything that you've given me. I want to give you support and love and trust.

Ryan: Words don't make it real, Kendall.

Kendall: No, Ryan, this is so real. This -- this is as real as it gets. I can feel it. I feel it in my heart. I -- I just feel it. I mean, can't you feel it? It's perfect. We are so perfect. I mean, can't you feel this perfect fit? I mean, just tell me that you can feel it, Ryan, please. Please, I just have to know that you feel what I feel.

Ryan: No, no, no. No, Kendall, I'm not going to do this. I made a commitment. Ok, and it wasn't a con, and it wasn't a joke, and I didn't do it to hurt you. It was -- it was a promise.

Kendall: Yes. Yes, Ryan, I will help you keep that promise. I will keep your secret from the world. You -- you and Greenlee, you will be known to the world as husband and wife.

Ryan: Yes, we will, Kendall, because that is what we will be.

Kendall: Listen, Ryan, every horrible assumption that you've made about me, forget it. Ok, I don't have to -- I don't need to mark my turf anymore. I don't need to flaunt it to the world. I don't need to rub anybody's nose in it. No ring, no proof. Just your lips on my lips and your skin against my skin. God, Ryan, don't you know that I ache for you? I ache for you so much.

Ryan: No, Kendall. No. You have to hear this. This will not happen.

Danielle: Too much ball is making your brain soft. I said I blew off my mom. She's probably working on a new way to get me back home as we speak. You heard wrong.

Reggie: No, I heard right. Your mom wanted you out.

Danielle: After I rejected her. Think what you want. It doesn't matter.

Reggie: Yes, it does. Or, if you don't care, how come you're about to cry?

Danielle: Is that what you want, king man? Want to see me boo-hoo like a little girl?

Reggie: No. I just want you to be straight up with me. You can't even do that.

Danielle: Fine. You want it, you got it. Yeah, my mom dumped me here. Daddy's not much better -- too much drama for him, too. Maybe you guys can bond over how much I get on your nerves! That make you feel good?

Reggie: No. Seeing you this sad? No.

Danielle: I lied before how my mom roughed me up. Maybe you think I'm lying now.

Reggie: I know what it looks like when someone's mother doesn't want them around.

Danielle: No big deal. This is just more of the drama you're done with, huh? Can't blame me there. I myself am bored to tears. So, what you said about hi and bye being plenty for us? Good-bye.

Reggie: Dani, wait. The court's free, the sun's out, and I have a game with my friends tomorrow.

Danielle: So?

Reggie: So, I need to practice, and you're the only person out here, so -- you going to leave the king man hanging?

Danielle: It might be nice to watch you lose.

Bianca: "I never" -- so many secrets, so little time. Look, I'm sorry.

Maggie: For what?

Bianca: When I put you on the spot, and I tried to get your secret out of you.

Maggie: Come on, curiosity is a basic human response.

Bianca: But it's none of my business.

Maggie: Actually, it is.

Bianca: Well, only if you want it to be. I respect that, Maggie. I know you wouldn't have lied to me unless it was really important. You know what? I already feel really weird about this. Let's just forget it.

Maggie: No. I can't. You know, I think -- I think it's about time that I talked to you about it anyway. But here's your fair warning, because if you feel weird now, plan to even feel weirder. What I want to tell you could possibly ruin our friendship forever.

Babe: I must be crazy. French fries and games instead of being here with you.

Jamie: It was one night, Babe.

J.R.: Yeah, I want you to go out and have more nights like last night. Just forget about us.

Babe: No. No way. I'm going to be all over this baby from here on out. Hey. I promise you, in front of your daddy and your uncle and the big man upstairs, I'm never leaving your side, not ever again.

Krystal: That sweet, loving mother had one night of feeling young. Now, who died and made you ruler of the universe and judge of all souls?

David: In her short life, that baby girl has been through hell. The least she deserves is a mother who gives a damn.

Krystal: Babe loves that baby beyond reason. Did you see how she blew in there and needed to hold her to see if she was ok?

David: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, it was all so, so touching, really. The way Babe took that baby into her arms like that? Very loving. Surprisingly instinctual. One might think that Babe was actually her mother.

Krystal: What did you say?

David: I'm just saying that it was all so natural, as if Bess honestly belonged to her. Ah, the bittersweet sting of a mother's love.

Krystal: Yeah. You're another kind of mother all together.

David: Boy, that was pure reflex for you, wasn't it, honey? Innate. I guess I can't blame Babe for wanting a break. Faking maternal instincts must take a lot out of her.

Krystal: Did you spend too much time at the ER? A little too much doctoring and not enough sleep? You're not making any sense. Why don't you just go home and sleep it off.

David: How's this for clarity? Babe is not Bess' mother.

Krystal: You know, I think you need to play a little bit of catch-up because that little silly piece of nonsense has been laid to rest. Dr. Joe's DNA test settled that a long time ago for good.

David: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. But what I would love to know is how you fixed it.

Reggie: All right, we're going to make things interesting.

Danielle: They already are.

Reggie: Well, if you make this next shot, then --

Danielle: I think you mean to say "when."

Reggie: Well, when you make the next shot, then I owe you dinner and a movie.

Danielle: And if I miss?

Reggie: Then you owe me, and I'm hungry.

Danielle: Ok. I don't know. I get really nervous under pressure. I'm not sure I'll be able to --

Reggie: You faked me out, didn't you?

Danielle: Oh, cry me a river, why don't you? Anyway, thanks in advance for lunch and a movie. I just love lobster when it's hot out. And have you seen that movie where all the girls keep getting makeovers?

Reggie: Makeovers?

Bianca: You have to tell me something that could ruin our friendship forever? Wow, this doesn't sound good.

Maggie: It was more like a protective measure.

Bianca: Why, because I hurt you? Or you thought I would? Maggie, what did I do?

Maggie: No, you didn't do anything. Remember when we kissed, or when I kissed you?

Bianca: It's kind of hard to forget.

Maggie: And I blew it off like it didn't mean anything?

Bianca: Yeah.

Maggie: It was a big fat lie. That kiss and that whole moment hasn't left me yet. And I think about it and I think about you, and I think about doing it again. Bianca, I think I love you.

Kendall: But, Ryan, that kiss. I mean --

Ryan: Was a reflex. Kendall, it was an urge that I need to kill, because I made a promise to Greenlee, and I almost broke that promise, but that's not going to happen again.

Kendall: Well, if you can't control yourself, then maybe that promise was a mistake.

Ryan: I gave her my word.

Kendall: Yeah, but, Ryan, Greenlee knows -- she knows what you feel for me. I mean, she can't possibly expect you to live up to that.

Ryan: Yes, she can. Kendall, you may not recognize it, but that's -- that's what trust looks like.

Kendall: That's not what I meant.

Ryan: You talk about trust. You say that you trust me and that I should trust you and that we can have all of this trust and this love, and -- if I break my vows, I mean, what does that make me?

Kendall: A man whose head can't control his heart. It's not a sin.

Ryan: It makes me what I used to accuse you of being -- a liar. If I break my word to somebody else, then you would have every right never to trust me ever again.

Kendall: So I guess I'll see you back in Pine Valley.

Ryan: I'll do my best to get your mother back, and the rest will be up to Jack.

Kendall: I feel like I'm leaving something behind. Bye, Ryan.

Reggie: Ah! Was that finish, you know, big enough for you?

Danielle: Is it over? I hadn't noticed.

Reggie: I mean, it really hurts to be this good. It really does.

Danielle: I just hate to see you suffer.

Reggie: You know what I want to hear.

Danielle: Uh-uh. No way. Not part of the deal.

Reggie: I mean, I'm still going to buy you lunch. I just want to hear you say the words.

Danielle: No.

Reggie: Huh?

Danielle: No.

Reggie: Say it!

[Danielle laughs]

Reggie: Say it!

Danielle: No, no! No fair!

Reggie: Say it!

Danielle: You're the king of the world!

Reggie: That's right. I'm the king of the world. King man won it fair and square.

Danielle: Oh, yeah? Well, how come it feels like I haven't lost at all?

Babe: I don't want to ever let her go.

[Bess babbles]

Babe: I know. You don't want me to leave either. Will you tell her how much her mommy loves her while I'm in the shower?

J.R.: Mm-hmm.

Babe: Hey, Jamie, thanks for all that fun last night.

J.R.: So, Babe had some fun last night, huh?

Jamie: We all did. Me, Maggie, Bianca. I mean, it was kind of a chick thing. They just let me tag along.

J.R.: Mm-hmm. How much of that good time was liquid?

Jamie: Like, was Babe loaded?

J.R.: Yeah.

Jamie: Not at all. Where did that come from?

J.R.: Hayward, as usual. He made Babe out to be like she was falling-down drunk.

Jamie: Hayward's a jackass. When do you listen to him anyway?

J.R.: Yeah.

Jamie: Hi, Bess. Here you go. Time for me to go. Say bye to Babe for me.

J.R.: Hey, Bess. Hey. High five. High five. Daddy 1, Mommy 0.

Krystal: I stopped listening when you stopped making sense.

David: Krystal, I did you the courtesy of coming to you first.

Krystal: Don't do me any favors.

David: Consider it my last, after what you did. How did it make you feel watching Bianca suffer like that? How did it make you feel knowing that you were killing her inside?

Krystal: Bess is upstairs right now with her parents, and you have absolutely no proof of anything otherwise!

David: Are you forgetting who you're talking to here, Krystal? Do you honestly believe that I would show up here without the goods? I took my own samples. I had my own DNA test done. No chance for you to tamper with it, no chance for Tad to screw it up!

Krystal: David, I swear --

David: Shut up! Listen to me. I'm telling you that I have 100% scientific data that proves that you and your daughter, Babe, stole Bianca's baby, and I'm here to tell you right now that you are going to give her back.
