Kendall: Now, don't -- don't you start what you can't finish.
Aidan: Hmm? Who says we can't finish?
Kendall: Hospital regulations.
Aidan: We're here for word on Greenlee. Is there any change?
Kendall: Last I heard, she was still unconscious.
Aidan: That's not good. What about you? Did you get any sleep?
Kendall: No, I didn't want to sleep.
Aidan: Why? Because of Greenlee?
Kendall: No, because of you and the way I felt all wrapped up in your arms. I forgot all about car crashes and murder investigations. I wish that we could just --
Kendall: Oh, no, I know it sounds selfish, but I wish we could just go away, far away somewhere, just the two of us.
Aidan: Well, let's do it.
Aidan: Let's go away, and we can go anywhere your heart desires.
Babe: For me?
J.R.: For you.
J.R.: You were smiling in your sleep.
Babe: That's because I was having this awesome dream that I met this incredible guy, and then we fell for each other at first sight, and then --
Babe: I found out that he was richer than God.
J.R.: Oh, only my dad thinks he's God.
Babe: You can't let your dad get you down, J.R.
J.R.: I wont.
Babe: Because if he does you dirt, I'll sic Betsy on him. Hell, I'll even go after him myself.
J.R.: I bet you would. What would I ever do without you?
Babe: No, that's supposed to be my line. I was to pieces when you showed up and put me back together again. And I will always, always love you for that.
Adam: Mary, what happened to you last night? I thought we had a deal. You were going to help me with J.R. and that bottled blond, and then you just disappeared, leaving me at the mercy of that insufferable Tad Martin, and Palmer strutting around, squawking like a --
Mary: I'm sorry that I deserted you last night. It couldn't be helped, Adam.
Adam: What happened? Why are you crying?
Mary: Greenlee has been in a terrible accident, and she's in the hospital. She's unconscious.
Adam: I didn't know.
Mary: It's just a mother's worst nightmare. And to add insult to injury, that pompous Juan Pablo insulted me in front of everybody by accusing me of not loving her. How does he know what's in my heart, and how does he know how lonely and frightened I am?
Tad: Hey, doc. How's our patient?
Maria: He is stable, and he's doing pretty well, all things considered.
Juan Pablo: But my brother's still unconscious.
Maria: Yeah, but that's normal with the surgical trauma on the heels of the car accident. He's just saving his strength for when he wakes up.
Maria: Oh, that's Pediatrics. Ok, guys, I'll be back as soon as I can.
Tad: Thanks. Here, I got you some of the worst coffee ever made. I'm still trying to figure out how it got the cigarette butt aftertaste.
Juan Pablo: Thank you, Tad.
Tad: I managed to get a couple hours on my father's sofa. How about you?
Juan Pablo: I didn't dare close my eyes.
Tad: Why don't you? I mean, the fact is that the wing of this hospital is sealed off from the rest of the world, and even if it wasn't, everybody else in this hospital thinks that Carlos was airlifted somewhere else. His enemies aren't going to find him.
Juan Pablo: You never know.
Tad: We bought ourselves a little time. I tell you what -- I'll look after your brother. Why don't you just go find yourself a place to crash for a while?
Juan Pablo: No. I don't want to leave him, except to check on Greenlee.
Tad: Well, how's she doing?
Juan Pablo: As of a half-hour ago, still not awake.
Tad: Well, that little cutie's a force of nature. She's going to snap out of this just fine.
Juan Pablo: I pray you're right.
Tad: I know I am, which leads us to another problem, because I know you broke up with her to keep her safe and protect her. But as noble as those intentions are, they just might explode in your face.
Ryan: Come on, Greenlee. Come on, lay another kiss on me. You can do anything. You can hit me in the face. Just come on. Just open your eyes.
Ryan: Hey. Hey.
Ryan: Wow. Wow. As happy days go, this certainly makes the cut.
Greenlee: Yeah, you can say that again.
Ryan: I guess you're back. You're talking and you're -- you're kissing.
Greenlee: You are beyond fantastic.
Ryan: So are you. So are you.
Greenlee: Let's do it again.
Ryan: What? The kiss?
Greenlee: The kiss and where it took us. Ryan, I knew that when we finally made love --
Ryan: Excuse me?
Greenlee: Our very first time together. Last night was everything I dreamed it would be.
Babe: Coast is clear. Now, let's see the beef. Oh. I hope Benny's Barbecue doesn't miss their sign too much.
Jamie: What are you -- what are you going to do with this thing?
Babe: It's for my collection.
Jamie: You collect giant cows, huh? That's weird.
Jamie: Oh, that is definitely cute. I hope to see that sometime.
Babe: Shall we move over to the bar area?
Jamie: So you live here?
Babe: For now. I told you. I'm new in town. Oops. Here, let me help you with that. Oh, God.
Brooke: Jamie? Jamie, breakfast is on the table.
Jamie: No, thanks. I'll eat. I'll just eat later.
Brooke: Ok. Oh, you dropped something.
Jamie: I got it. I got it.
Brooke: That's mine. Excuse me.
Babe: Tell me.
J.R.: I love you.
Babe: No, not that. Tell me how we met.
J.R.: You were there.
Babe: I know, but I like the way you tell it.
J.R.: Oh, ok. My freighter had pulled into San Diego port. I couldn't sleep that night, so I decided to take a walk on the docks.
Babe: Don't forget the fog.
J.R.: Yeah, it was foggy. I couldn't see two feet in front of me. And then it lifted, and there, there you were, just standing at the end of the pier. And you were crying. I thought for sure you were going to jump.
Babe: Yeah, I was pretty down that night, but I wasn't going to jump.
J.R.: What were you doing there?
Babe: I was waiting for you.
J.R.: What, are you psychic?
Babe: No. I just -- I get these feelings about things. And then when you showed up and asked me if I was ok, I knew it was you that I was waiting for.
J.R.: And that's how I felt when I first saw you. I mean, you were beautiful beyond beautiful. We started talking. You were just so real and so honest, you made me want to be that way, too. The thing is it was just easy with you.
Babe: With you, too.
J.R.: And when I looked in your eyes, Babe, for the first time -- I mean, the first time ever in my life, I knew what kind of man I wanted to be.
Babe: You don't have to be anything for anybody. You're perfect just the way you are. I mean that.
J.R.: But that's how you make me feel. You make me feel like I can do anything in the world. But, first, let's start with this town. I want to introduce you to some people. I want to show you off.
Babe: I'd love that, but I got to take care of something first.
J.R.: Well, we'll do it together, then.
Babe: Baby, this is something I got to do all by my big girl self.
J.R.: Really? What is it?
Babe: Make another guy fall in love with me.
Mary: All we can do is pray that Greenlee wakes up and that she's going to be ok. I just feel so helpless.
Adam: Yeah, I've been there. The child is hurt and there's nothing you can do.
Mary: And you also know what it's like when somebody tries to put a wedge between you and your child.
Adam: Oh, yes. I know that all too well.
Mary: We try our best when they're growing up to prepare them to fight life's battles, and then all of a sudden, one day you're the enemy and they enlist their friends and lovers to fight against you, and the experts say that it's a separation thing. Doesn't make it any less painful. I know I haven't been the model parent. I've made so many mistakes with Greenlee, I can't even count them.
Adam: Yeah, the first one was when you lied to her about her father.
Mary: I know that, I know that, and I regret it, but I just want the chance to try to make it up to her, and she won't let me.
Adam: Yes, I know what that feels like, too, with J.R. It's been magnified a hundred times since he hooked up with Ms. Dogpatch.
Mary: And now Greenlee has her Latin American lover on 24-hour alert.
Adam: If you'd be willing to help me out with the low-rent Lolita upstairs --
Mary: Yeah, yeah. Yes.
Adam: I'd certainly be willing to try to help you with the Argentinean wolfhound.
Mary: Oh, Adam, you have no idea how much your understanding and support means to me. You really don't.
Adam: Ah. Well, I'd like to do whatever I can to be of service.
Mary: Good. Now, I've already started to deal with Juan Pablo. Seņor Ruiz should be feeling the effects anytime soon now.
Tad: See, I know that you hurt Greenlee so you could keep her out of the line of fire when the bad guys came gunning for Carlos, but she doesn't know that, see, because she doesn't have a clue that you did this far, far better thing to protect her.
Juan Pablo: And you believe this is wrong?
Tad: I believe you are Porthos, Athos, and d'Artagnan all rolled into one. Unfortunately, these days a woman like Greenlee might not take it too kindly when she wakes up and realizes that a man did what he thought was best for her.
Juan Pablo: Even if it's for their own good?
Tad: Especially then. Let's say everything works out with the Calatravas, ok? Let's say that you buy them off or you send them to prison -- whatever -- everything works out fine. Then what? You go to Greenlee and say, "I'm sorry, this is what happened, I hope you forgive me," you do the happily-ever mambo off into the sunset?
Juan Pablo: It's a possibility, yes.
Tad: No, it's a possibility, no. No. What's more than likely is I think when she wakes up in this hospital, she's going to be hurt and confused. She's going to want and need you with her. You keep up this lie, you just disappear and come back when it's all safe and sound and say, "Hey, I'm sorry, forgive me," I think the first thing she's going to do is chew you up, spit you out, show you the door, and then jump on the first guy she sees.
Ryan: Hey, listen, go get Dr. Martin. Tell him that Greenlee has regained consciousness.
Nurse: Right away.
Ryan: Thank you.
Greenlee: Ryan, what's going on? What's going on? What's happened to me?
Ryan: Ok, ok, ok. Look -- ok -- Greenlee, you were the one that was in the car accident, ok? And you got a broken arm, and you had a concussion, but you're going to be ok.
Greenlee: When did this happen?
Ryan: Last night.
Greenlee: I was with you last night. We were making love.
Ryan: Oh. Ok. Look, while we're waiting for Dr. Joe, I'm going to go get your dad, ok?
Greenlee: What for? Roger could care less about me. And I don't want to be alone.
Ryan: Ok. Hey, hey, Greenlee? Greenlee, listen. Do you have any idea what the date is?
Greenlee: November something.
Ryan: What year?
Adam: Can you give me an idea of what you've done so far to get back at this Juan Pablo whatever?
Mary: Well, no offense, dear, but it's a little early to tell you my plans.
Adam: You mean you don't trust me?
Mary: Only as much as you trust me.
Adam: Well, I guess we're at a stalemate.
Mary: No, we're not. It's only temporary. We just have to feel out each other's strengths and weaknesses and the trust will come, and who knows what else.
Adam: I can be a very powerful ally.
Mary: And you'd be surprised at what I can bring to the party.
Mary: So I really have to go before Don Juan makes his claim at Greenlees bedside.
Adam: Yeah, take my driver. I'd go myself, but --
Mary: I know you would, but you have to deal with Babe.
Adam: Babe, yes, yes, a good name for a blue ox or the sultan of swat.
Mary: Good luck.
Adam: Yeah --
Babe: I think my name rocks. I picked it myself.
Adam: Well, J.R. and Babe, I didn't hear you coming down.
Babe: Morning, Pops.
Adam: Good morning.
Adam: What's for breakfast? I could eat a side of anything.
J.R.: Well, I think we can go get a bite in town.
Babe: Sweetie, I told you upstairs, I'm too trashed to go out.
Adam: Well, there's no problem. Lucretia can whip up something.
Babe: Oh, right. Lucretia? And you get down on my name?
J.R.: They do a really great eggs benedict at B.J.s.
Babe: No way. I've got my mouth set on banana pancakes with a side of peanut butter and a great big old cherry cola.
J.R.: Babe. Come on.
Babe: Hey, now. This is my first morning in my brand-new home. You go out with some of your old playmates and let me and Pops get to know each other.
Adam: I can't imagine enjoying anything more.
Simone: Whoo. Whoo.
Kendall: I did not know you guys were awake.
Simone: Well, you were too wrapped up in Aidan to notice even King Kong slipping on a banana peel naked.
Nurse: I just spoke to Dr. Martin. He's on his way to room eight.
Second Nurse: Maybe we should page him again.
Mia: Room eight? Oh, my God. That's Greenlees room.
Kendall: Oh, my God. God, please let her be ok.
Ryan: Ok, I'm going to go see what's keeping Dr. Joe.
Greenlee: No, Ryan --
Greenlee: Don't leave. Stay. Hold me.
Ryan: Ok. Ok. Ok.
Greenlee: No, no, not like that. Get into bed with me like you were last night.
Ryan: Oh. Ok. Ok. Ok, shh, you ok?
Ryan: Yeah. Ok. ( Clicking ) I'm sorry.
Mia: Greenlee, thank God you're awake. Hi.
Simone: Well, did Lips Lavery here do the Prince Charming bit and wake you up with a big wet one?
Ryan: Actually, Greenlee kissed me.
Greenlee: Excuse me. Do I know you people?
Simone: Oh, right.
Mia: Oh, sweet. You pretend not to know your best friends, oh.
Greenlee: I don't have any friends, except Ryan.
Simone: Ok, this is a joke, right?
Mia: If it's a joke, it's not very funny.
Greenlee: Well, I'm not here to amuse you, whoever you are. So clear out.
Joe: Oh -- excuse me, excuse me.
Ryan: Here you go.
Nurse: Good morning.
Joe: Excuse me. Well, Greenlee, welcome back.
Joe: You gave us quite a scare.
Simone: Yeah, and it's the gift that keeps on giving.
Joe: Yeah. Well, folks, if you'll excuse us, I'd like to examine my patient.
Greenlee: Ryan, don't go too far.
Ryan: Ok, all right.
Mia: Ryan, what's going on? I mean, what's the deal with Greenlee?
Simone: Yeah, and why is she treating us like total strangers?
Ryan: Mostly because she thinks it's 1999.
Simone: Shut up.
Ryan: No, it's true. According to Greenlee, the last four years didn't exist. She still thinks Rogers her dad, Clintons the president, and Gillians still alive.
Mia: But she remembers everything else?
Ryan: Yeah, it seems like it.
Simone: Well, this is freaking weird.
Ryan: The freaky part is she still thinks we're hooked up. You should have seen the moves she was putting on me.
Kendall: Oh. You are so full of it, Ryan.
Ryan: Excuse me?
Kendall: The minute you knew Greenlee had a memory gap you moved in on her.
Ryan: And why the hell would I do that?
Kendall: To put me out of business!
Maria: You want to take a break? Maybe get some air?
Juan Pablo: In a while.
Juan Pablo: You are taking good care of my brother. Maria, I owe you an apology. I was wrong to doubt you.
Maria: No, no, no. You had every right to not want me to do the surgery. I had just been recertified.
Juan Pablo: My brother is alive, thanks to you. And I pray I can keep him alive.
Maria: Yeah, you'd had to have been doing a whole lot of praying lately. I noticed you were praying for Greenlee earlier in her room, too. You love her?
Juan Pablo: Yes. Greenlee was hurt so badly. If we stay together while this danger exists, she could be hurt again.
Maria: Well, there's that risk, but if she loves you as much as you love her and you leave her, that's equally painful.
Tad: This is a sealed-off floor. What the hell are you doing here?
Mary: I might ask the same question of you.
Babe: Have fun with your friends.
J.R.: Oh -- are you sure you won't change your mind?
Babe: No. Me and Pops are going to bond. Now, give Babe a big one. Mmm.
J.R.: Mmm. You know, you mean more to me than anything -- anyone. Never forget that.
Winifred: Your breakfast, Miss.
Babe: Oh. It's Mrs., but you can call me Babe.
[Babe and Winifred giggle]
Babe: Thanks, Winnie.
Adam: Ahem. Here, allow me.
Babe: You want some of this? I mean, the pancakes. They look a little skimpy, but --
Adam: They're crepes. And, no, thank you, I'm not hungry.
Babe: Just means more for me. You know, I am just nuts about your son. And he's just crazy about me. We're, like, the perfect combination -- peanut butter and pancakes. But I know what you're thinking.
Adam: I somehow doubt that.
Babe: You're thinking that I don't fit in here, that I stand out like a strand of pop beads in a Fifth Avenue store window.
Adam: I was thinking no such thing.
Babe: I remember watching this chick flick with my mom, "Pretty Woman." Julia Roberts goes from shaking her moneymaker to total high class. Now, you can't me cash money to gag down a snail, but I could learn to talk better or dress more swank or learn which fork to use. I mean, just give me a week or two and -- and you'll think I was born with one of these in my mouth.
Adam: Babe, you have peanut butter on your chin.
Adam: Yes. There's -- and there's no reason for you to change, Babe. You're -- you're charming just the way you are.
Babe: You think?
Adam: Yes, I do.
Babe: Really? Because I was getting totally different vibes last night. Well, hate vibes.
Adam: Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I have a present for you.
Babe: A present? Oh! I love presents.
J.R.: Jamie. Glad I caught you.
Jamie: I thought you'd be sleeping in after everything last night.
J.R.: About that -- listen, I'm sorry we didn't get to spend much time together.
Jamie: Don't worry about it. You had a lot of stuff going down.
J.R.: Yeah, my dad pulling his usual crap.
Jamie: Well, what did you expect? I mean, you married a girl after three weeks of knowing her. I mean, and then you threw the announcement out there like hand grenade. You wanted Adam to blow, and to hell with the collateral damage.
J.R.: Whoa, Jamie, I thought you'd be on my side about this.
Jamie: Yeah, just because I'm your brother I have to go along with everything you do?
J.R.: I love Babe. I knew it the moment I met her, and I want you to love her, too.
Brooke: J.R., I thought I heard you.
Jamie: I got to go. I'm going to be late for class.
J.R.: I'll catch up with you later?
Jamie: Well, whatever.
Brooke: All right. See you later, honey. I'm glad you came by. Huh. Last night turned into quite a party.
J.R.: Yeah, and you don't approve, right?
Brooke: Well, I think, like everybody else, I was a little bit shocked, but that was the point, wasn't it?
J.R.: Part of it, anyway.
Brooke: Well, you know, marriage is a serious commitment.
J.R.: Hey, you know what, Brooke? Just like I told Jamie, I love Babe. I mean, I really love her.
Brooke: I believe you, J.R. and I love you, and I'm really proud of you, you know? I mean, you've had a rough couple of years under your belt, with losing your mom and Adam trying to pressure you to do things his own way, and you went away and you came back, and you're a stronger person for it.
J.R.: And Babe had a lot to do with that. I mean, she believes in me for me. She wants what I want, she doesn't doubt me, she doesn't try to control me. I mean, she likes me just the way that I am.
Brooke: I could see that last night.
Brooke: Listen, you should bring her by for dinner so we can get to know her, and you know that I'm here to support you in any way that I can.
J.R.: Well, thank you.
Brooke: Come here.
Brooke: Oh, excuse me. Yes. Can I help you?
Man: Ma'am, I'm Benny from Benny's Beef n' Bun.
Benny: I want the no-good varmint who stole my cow!
Babe: Well, don't keep me in suspense. What -- what's my present?
Babe: Oh! Whoa. Is this check for real? I mean, the amount?
Adam: My banker will cash it for you personally.
Babe: Oh -- I mean, I've never seen this many zeros outside my high school math club.
Adam: I hoped you'd be pleased.
Babe: Oh -- I'm in shock. I mean -- I mean, I expected a wedding gift from my pops-in-law, but this is -- this is like winning the lottery! Oh! Oh!
Babe: You have no idea what this means to J.R. and me. I mean, it's like you've given us your blessing! Oh --
Adam: Well, no, no, no, you don't quite understand. It's not a wedding present. It's a gift, tax-free, just for you.
Babe: I don't even know how I could even begin to spend all this.
Adam: Well, for your first purchase, I would suggest a plane ticket.
Tad: Start talking.
Mary: I was looking for Greenlees room.
Tad: Oh, her room is in the wing that's not off limits, but you probably already knew that, didn't you?
Mary: I'm so upset that I don't know whether I'm coming or going.
Tad: Well, you're not, not yet.
Mary: Would you let go of me!
Tad: I couldn't help but notice you've weaseled yourself squatter's rights at Adams last night.
Mary: I was an invited guest.
Tad: You could have fooled me. I thought you were the lady of the manor the way you were giving orders at that dinner party and sticking your nose into family business that was none of your business.
Mary: I was trying to save a perfectly disastrous dinner party.
Tad: By doing Adams dirty work and double-teaming J.R.?
Mary: If you're referring to that embarrassment of a female who answers to the name of Babe --
Tad: That's exactly who I'm referring to. Don't you mess with my family, ever. As far I'm concerned, that boy is as much my son as he is Adams, and you give him or her any kind of grief at all and you will hear from me. Do you understand?
Mary: You watch your tongue, Tad, or you'll be on my list.
Tad: Go ahead. Scratch my name right under Juan Pablos. What, you think you can get away with anything just because you've thrown in with Adam?
Mary: Friendship has its privileges.
Tad: But you're not his friend. That's just it. Nothing like it. He is using you, worse than you're using him. And when he's finished with you, he's going to pick your bones clean and throw you on the discard pile with the rest of them. So you want to do yourself a favor? Why don't you scrape together what little dignity you have left and leave. Get the hell out of Pine Valley.
Mary: And leave and miss all the fun? Never.
Maria: Oh, my God. Great news. Greenlee just regained consciousness.
Tad: I'll watch out after Carlos. You go ahead.
Ryan: You go ahead. You think the worst of me.
Kendall: I'm just taking a page from your playbook, Ryan.
Aidan: All right, Kendall, I don't think this is the time or the place.
Ryan: Hey, hey. So, Joe, what's going on? What's the deal with Greenlee?
Joe: Physically, she's fine. But she's experiencing posttraumatic memory loss.
Kendall: Well, is it serious?
Joe: It's not uncommon in cases of serious concussion.
Kendall: Well, will she ever get her memory back?
Joe: Yeah, in time, she will, but we must take care not to upset her and not to have too many visitors.
Kendall: Well, she'll want to see me.
Simone: Yeah, and me.
Mia: Me, three.
Joe: Actually, the only one she's asked to see is Ryan.
Mia: Right. Well, give her our love, ok?
Simone: Oh, like that's going to mean anything.
Aidan: Oh, we'll come back later. Hey, come on.
Greenlee: Ryan, is it true? A whole chunk of my life gone?
Ryan: No. No, no, no, it's not gone, Greenlee.
Greenlee: What am I missing? What have I forgotten?
Ryan: Whoa. Greenlee, the only thing that's important is that you're going to be ok.
Greenlee: How can I be ok when I don't really know what year it is or those women who say that they're my friends?
Ryan: They are. They are your friends. They love you very much.
Greenlee: What about you? I haven't forgotten you. Are we still together?
Ryan: No. I'm sorry, Greenlee, not for a long time.
Benny: Ma'am, I'm the owner and sole proprietor of Benny's Beef n' Bun. Betsy here's our mascot. Brings in business by the truckload. I had a plaster one made up special. T'other night, a young couple snatched it right off the premises. I got the license of the car as they burnt rubber. A cop friend ran the plates. The vehicle's registered to this address.
Brooke: Well, that's my license plate, but you must have copied down the wrong number. I'm --
Benny: Eyesight's 20/20. I want the cow back or 500 bucks. Or I go to the sheriff.
Babe: You mean you want me to use this check for an all-expense-paid honeymoon with J.R.?
Adam: No, no, no. I want you to use that check to buy yourself a one-way plane ticket just for yourself to a destination as far away from here as you can possibly get. You can use the balance to start yourself a pancake shack or a boutique, just as long as you leave my son alone.
Babe: You son of a -- you're buying me off.
Adam: Yeah -- I knew it! You're not nearly as clueless as you appear.
Jamie: That's enough! Back off, Adam!
Tad: Edmund, what are you doing here?
Edmund: Maria told me to check this out.
Tad: Donald Steele strikes again. Oh, my God.
Kendall: Listen, Aidan, Greenlees fine. Ryan is taking care of her, so -- so I think now is the perfect time.
Aidan: For what?
Kendall: For our little escape that we're going to do, or we can go to a beach somewhere or go to some secluded mountain. Anywhere that's just the two of us and a million miles from Pine Valley.
Aidan: Yeah. Ok, before we take off, you need to spend a little bit of down time with the other man in your life.
Kendall: What other man?
Aidan: Ryan Lavery.
Greenlee: So, Ryan, you and I didn't last night?
Ryan: Hmm. I'm afraid not.
Greenlee: Did you go back to your princess?
Ryan: A lot can happen in four years, Greenlee, and it's all going to come back to you when you're ready.
Greenlee: Ryan, what aren't you telling me?
Ryan: Just that just because we're not together doesn't mean I don't care about you.
Greenlee: Do I still care about you?
Ryan: I hope so. Hmm.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Babe: There's only one thing wrong with this check. I use the new math. It's two zeros short.
Mary: They wouldn't dare. Oh!
Simone: No, but I sure would.
Greenlee: Live for the moment.
