>> Previously on "All My Children" --
Mia: I promise that I am not going to keep your mom away. I don't want to take her place.
Kendall: You and Lena came on the scene at almost the exact same time. She's your spy.
Simone: Bianca, are you in here? You've got to get out. Your uncle Jack's just been shot.
Erica: Jack! You promised you'd never leave me, Jack! Jack!
Erica: Jackson! You made a promise to me. You said you would never leave me!
Nurse: He's shooting a lot of PVCs.
Doctor: Where's that crash cart?
Nurse: I'm not getting a pulse!
Erica: No, Jack -- don't leave me, Jack. Jack!
Joe: Erica, you have to let the doctors work.
Erica: No, I am not leaving him. I will not leave him, Joe.
Bianca: Oh, my God, my uncle Jack's --
Orderly: Watch it!
Bianca: Sorry! I'm sorry.
Lena: Bianca -- Bianca, maybe I should wait outside.
Michael: Well, I asked you to do this because I thought you were capable. Well, good. Then I don't expect to have to ask you again. She needs to be put in her place today, so do it.
Mia: I was just on my way home from the gym. Ahem.
Edmund: That explains the outfit.
Mia: Yes. Glamorous, huh? I probably should've changed first or called from the car.
Edmund: No, I'm not complaining. No, no, no.
Mia: Good. Well, you told me you were working at home today, so I thought maybe you could use a little distraction.
Edmund: You know, actually, I'm on a really tight deadline.
Mia: Oh, ok. I'm sorry. Well, go back to work. I'm sorry I interrupted you.
Maria: Oh, my God, you got it? You got it! Good job! Who's the most amazing soccer player?
Maddie: Aidan calls it "football."
Aidan: Yeah, crazy me.
Maddie: Did you see me, Mommy? I scored two goals!
Maria: Yeah, I did see you. You were amazing.
Aidan: This one's a natural, aren't you?
Maria: Yeah, well, where do you think she gets it?
Aidan: I don't know.
Maria: Is that me? I think so.
Maddie: Is it daddy?
Maria: Uh, probably not, honey.
Maria: Hello? Hey, Anna. Yeah, he's -- oh, my God. Yeah, wait one second. Aidan? It's -- it's Anna. Jackson Montgomeryís been shot. He's in the hospital.
Doctor: Set to 200.
Erica: Jackson -- Jackson, I'm right here.
Doctor: Charge to 300. Clear!
Nurse: Still nothing!
Erica: If it's not working, do something else. Try something else. I mean, he's just lying here.
Joe: Erica, let them do their work.
Joe: Let them work.
Erica: Look at him, Joe. Look at Jackson. I am not leaving until he comes back to me!
Doctor: I need a milligram of epi and charge to 360.
Erica: Jackson, you have to fight!
Erica: I won't lose you! Jack, don't do this! Damn it, wake up!
Nurse: We've got a normal sinus rhythm.
Doctor: Start a lidocaine drip.
Erica: Thank God!
Doctor: We need to get him upstairs.
Bianca: My father died so suddenly, without any warning. I never got a chance to say goodbye or any of the things that needed to be said. One day he was just gone.
Lena: Bianca, I'm so sorry.
Bianca: You know, he died without ever really knowing me as a woman, you know? Was it that way with your mom?
Bianca: But uncle Jack -- he's just always there, you know? He always makes me feel like -- like Iím never alone, even though sometimes it seems like that.
Lena: He loves you very much.
Bianca: I know. I need for him to be ok.
Doctor: Get him to O.R. Two.
Erica: Joe. You'll be with him, won't you?
Joe: The entire time.
Erica: All right, I'm trusting you, Joe. Don't you come back down here with anything but good news.
Joe: Mm-hmm. We're going to do everything we can for Jack, and I will come and find you as soon as we get him out of surgery. Ok?
Erica: Oh, Jack.
Erica: Oh, sweetheart!
Bianca: I just saw him. He looked so bad.
Bianca: What did the doctor say? Is he going to be ok?
Erica: He's going to be all right. Now you listen to me. Your uncle Jack won't leave us. You believe that, don't you?
Kendall: You're here. Fast work, Lena. Why am I not surprised?
Aidan: Now, you know I'd like to stay here and play soccer with you, don't you, Maddie?
Maddie: Yeah. Then why can't you?
Aidan: Because a friend of mine is sick and he needs me.
Maddie: Ok, but you said you would teach me how to kick the ball behind my back.
Maria: Well, you can still play with me. Is that ok?
Maddie: Ok. But next time, you promise you'll show me?
Aidan: Absolutely. I promise I'll show you next time.
Maria and Aidan: Aw.
Maria: Well, did you make a good impression, or what?
Aidan: I know.
Maria: I think I might have a little competition.
Aidan: No, of course you donít. Come here.
Maria and Aidan: Oh.
Aidan: I just didn't know what to say about Jackson. I didn't want to scare her with the details.
Maria: No, you were perfect. You were really perfect. She likes you.
Aidan: Yeah, well, don't jinx it now. I'll give you a call later --
Aidan: When I hear something.
Maria: Ok, sweetie.
Aidan: Ok? Have fun.
Maria: Ok. Thanks. I will.
Maddie: I kick it and then I have to chase it. It's no fun without Aidan.
Maria: That's no fun. You like it when he's around, though, don't you?
Maddie: Yeah, he's ok, but he's really good at soccer.
Maria: Yeah, he is. Very good.
Maddie: Is daddy good at soccer?
Maria: Uh, you know what? I don't know, but he's good at horseback riding.
Maddie: Can we go see him?
Mia: Whoo. I thought you had a deadline.
Edmund: I got distracted.
Mia: Really? Who did that?
Edmund: Oh, I don't know. Just --
Edmund: Come here.
Mia: Oh, no. Seriously.
Mia: What about your work?
Edmund: Oh, that can wait.
Mia: Your work?
Edmund: That can wait.
Mia: Are you sure?
Edmund: Yeah, I'm sure. I'm the boss, remember?
Mia: Oh, yeah.
Edmund: I can do anything I want.
Edmund: Besides, how often does a distraction like you come along?
Mia: I don't know if I want an answer to that question.
Edmund: Oh, you got nothing to worry about.
Mia: So Iím special?
Edmund: Yeah. And you have a lasting effect on me.
Mia: Oh, I do?
Edmund: Yeah, you do. You -- you know, before, everything was just such -- so hard, so complicated, and it took so much effort.
Mia: Edmund --
Edmund: And now -- now I'm happy. Now I feel like myself again. And when Iím happy, I'm not just happy for the kids. It's like for real. And I have you to thank for that.
Edmund: Yeah, I do.
Mia: You don't have to.
Edmund: I want to. Listen, I know -- I know we agreed that -- that we couldn't -- or that this wasn't going to be anything serious.
Mia: Yeah, I know. Yeah.
Edmund: But I got to tell you, after the night that we had in the -- in the Pine Valley Inn, I just can't think of anything but you.
Mia: I can't get you off my mind, either.
Edmund: They're gone for the whole afternoon.
Edmund: The kids.
Mia: Oh. Busted, huh?
Edmund: Just a little.
Mia: So, you're alone.
Kendall: So, what are you doing here?
Lena: I was with Bianca when she heard about her uncle. I didn't want to leave her alone.
Kendall: Oh, you're concerned for her? That's so sweet. I'll be sure to tell her you were here.
Lena: You don't need to. I'm not leaving.
Kendall: Oh, I seriously doubt Bianca expects you to wait around for her.
Lena: I'll be the judge of that.
Kendall: Yeah, I'm sure you will.
Lena: Is this a problem for you -- my relationship with your sister?
Kendall: No, no, not at all. Hey, good for Binks, that's what I say. I just didn't think she was your type.
Lena: What's that supposed to mean?
Kendall: You're a smart woman, Lena. You can figure it out.
Lena: I don't think it's worth my time.
Kendall: Really? Well, then, what is worth your time? Other than my sister, of course.
Lena: You're very protective of Bianca. I had no idea you two were so close. Would you please let go of my arm? I have a phone call to make.
Kendall: Oh. I assume it's business, right?
Kendall: Well, in that case, tell Michael I said hello.
Kendall: Oh, oh. Aidan, Iím so glad to see you.
Aidan: How's Jackson?
Kendall: He's not good.
Aidan: What happened?
Kendall: Well, his heart stopped.
Kendall: Yeah. The doctors took him to surgery, but they're not promising any miracles.
Aidan: Oh, my God. I didn't realize it was that serious.
Kendall: Well, someone shot him, Aidan. I mean, what did you think that meant, that he would be in and out with a band-aid and a lollipop?
Aidan: Anna told me he lost a lot of blood, but --
Kendall: Yeah, well, she was right about that. Do you have any idea who could've done this to him?
Aidan: No, I donít. No.
Kendall: Nothing, nothing at all? I mean, even with your connections? I mean, he's the D.A. doesn't anyone out there care?
Aidan: Yeah, well, I'm surprised that you do, Kendall.
Kendall: I'm here for Erica, ok?
Aidan: For Erica?
Kendall: Yeah. When she got the phone call about Jackson, she was really freaked out and I didn't think it was a good idea for her to be driving.
Aidan: You were -- you were with Erica?
Kendall: Yeah. Why do you have to question everything I tell you? It's really annoying.
Lena: Kendall knows about us, about you and me.
Michael: Yeah, I'm aware.
Lena: That's it? That's all you're going to say?
Michael: Well, she isn't pleased about it.
Lena: You're the one who told her?
Michael: No. No, but I didn't deny it.
Lena: Well, why not? You could've made up some excuse.
Michael: She saw you here last night.
Lena: So that's it? It's over just like that?
Michael: No, no. It's not over, not at all. I've just changed tactics. So tell me, how did you find out?
Lena: About Kendall? She told me herself. She was quite proud of it. She told me to say hello to you before I left.
Michael: Left where?
Lena: The hospital.
Michael: What were you doing at the hospital?
Lena: Oh, Jackson Montgomery was shot last night.
Michael: And Kendall was there?
Lena: Yes. With Erica.
Michael: Erica? What was she doing with Erica?
Lena: I don't know. I didn't want to stay around to ask. I just wanted to get out of there. The whole thing's beginning to unravel.
Michael: Well, don't worry. You still have plenty of time to get Boydís formula before that patent is secured.
Lena: But, Michael, if Kendall tells Bianca what we've been doing --
Michael: She wonít.
Lena: How do you know?
Michael: Kendall gave me her word.
Lena: What, and you believe her? Michael, you can't trust her.
Michael: Well, as it turns out, Lena, the only woman that I can't trust is you.
Lena: What are you talking about?
Michael: Oh, that sad little story you spun about your mother -- her death? Well, as it turns out, your mother isn't dead. Good news, huh?
Edmund: You have the softest lips.
Mia: I have something that I have to tell you.
Edmund: Well, if you have to.
Mia: When we made love and I said it would be ok if it never happened again --
Edmund: That wasn't true?
Mia: No. I just didn't want you to know how much I like you.
Maria: Oh, my God.
Erica: Sweetheart, I know you're scared. I know. And so am I.
Bianca: I just -- when I heard about uncle Jack --
Erica: Oh, I wanted to be the one to tell you. I tried so hard to reach you --
Bianca: I know.
Erica: All the way over here.
Bianca: I just --
Erica: What is it?
Bianca: I keep thinking about daddy.
Erica: Oh, no. No, no, no, no, baby. Don't you do that to yourself.
Bianca: I can't help it, Mom. It's the same thing all over again.
Erica: No. No, it's not. It's not. It's not at all like your father.
Bianca: But it's so fast, it's so sudden -- no warning at all. Oh, God -- Lily. How are we going to tell her? What are we going to do?
Erica: Bianca, you listen to me now. Your uncle Jack is going to be fine. Do you hear me?
Erica: He is not going to die.
Bianca: Ok. Ok.
Bianca: Oh, Mom. I didn't even ask you -- how are you doing? I know that things aren't very good between you and uncle Jack and --
Erica: Oh, that is all behind us, sweetheart. That is all in the past, I promise you.
Bianca: I just don't understand who would want to shoot uncle Jack.
Erica: I don't know.
Lena: My mother is dead.
Michael: To the rest of the world, maybe.
Lena: Michael, I went to her funeral.
Michael: Stop lying to me, Lena.
Lena: Let go of me!
Michael: I want to hear you say it right now.
Lena: My mother is dead!
Michael: Look at this! Look at this! You see this? Huh? You see it? She looks pretty alive to me.
Lena: You bastard! What have you done to her?
Michael: Nothing yet. She's a good-looking woman, Lena. Don't ever cross me again.
Erica: Oh, you know who did this to Jackson? Who?
Opal: Oh -- oh, sweetie --
Erica: Did they catch him?
Opal: No, no, it's nothing like that.
Erica: Well, then how do you know who?
Opal: I just do, that's all. Lord knows, I wish I didnít.
Erica: Opal, you are not making any sense.
Opal: Well, I'm sorry. It's just that you're not going to like what I have to say. But I had the great misfortune to be in range back when Chris learned about you and Jack.
Erica: Opal, why are you bringing this up now? This has nothing to do with anything.
Opal: This has nothing to do with anything? If you want me to keep talking, you're going to have to zip it, ok? This isn't easy.
Erica: Ok, I'm sorry. Go on.
Opal: Well, Chris was really coming apart at the seams about you rendezvousing with Jack. I have never seen him that out of control.
Erica: Opal, don't tell me that you are suggesting that -- that Chris --
Opal: I'm more than suggesting it, honey. I'm saying it flat-out.
Erica: That's ridiculous.
Bianca: Opal, no. Chris is just not capable of that.
Opal: Not the Chris that you know and love, no. But the one I saw, the one who was possessed by the green-eyed monster -- that is another story altogether.
Erica: Opal, that's really enough.
Opal: Well, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I saw Chris just a few hours ago, and I got this very clear premonition that somebody was going to die.
Erica: That's it? That's what you're basing all this on -- some flash of E.S.P.? Opal, let me tell you something. When I told Chris that Jackson was missing, he was genuinely concerned.
Opal: Well, of course he was, because he knows what his passion has driven him to.
Erica: No! You are wrong! Chris is not like that. Chris believes in law and he believes in justice, and he would never take it into his own hands.
Opal: Well, except that you are the one person that could maybe push him right over the edge.
Erica: I don't believe this. I am suffering right now. Do you have to say these things to me?
Aidan: So you and your mum kissed and made up?
Kendall: Is it so hard for you to believe that Erica wants to give me a second chance? I mean, just because you didn't doesn't mean that she wouldn't.
Aidan: I'm sorry; I gave you plenty of second chances, Kendall. And you know what I realized? That people don't change who they are or how they feel overnight. Ok?
Kendall: Oh. They don't, huh? Well, aren't you in love with someone who's done just that?
Aidan: No, we're talking attitude here. And you're in no position to --
Kendall: To what? To judge you the way you've been judging me? Why not?
Aidan: Because our situations are completely different.
Maria: Maddie --
Edmund: Whatówhatís that about?
Maria: Look, I'm really -- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt. I just thought you were working.
Edmund: No, it's ok. I -- I was.
Maria: Um -- well, you know what, Maddie? You better apologize right now because that was not very nice.
Maddie: You lied to me. You said you and daddy were just friends.
Mia: Maddie, we are friends. We're good friends.
Edmund: Maddie. Wait, I -- Iíll go talk to her.
Mia: Well, this is awkward.
Maria: Yeah. It didn't have to be.
Mia: Look, Edmund and I never would have -- if we knew that you were going to be coming home early.
Maria: Well, I don't think that that's really what made it awkward, Mia.
Mia: I know it's a lot for a little girl to see. It was a lot for her, but we've been honest with her and we've been honest with you.
Michael: Hey, hey, you want to see her again?
Lena: Ah --
Michael: Shut up! Shut up!
Lena: No -- you tell me! Let go!
Michael: Stop fighting me and I'll tell you.
Michael: Stop fighting me and I will tell you. Good. That's better. Now, you listen to me. Don't you ever raise a hand to me again, you understand?
Lena: What have you done to her?
Michael: Nothing yet. She's still safely tucked away in that little villa in Belgium. Ok? Which, by the way, I have to tell you, you've been putting that money Iíve been paying you to good use.
Lena: Does she know she's been found?
Michael: No. And if you cooperate, nothing changes.
Lena: Michael, she's done nothing wrong.
Michael: She used to work for the secret police, Lena. I'm sure a few people would disagree with you. But take heart. Do as I say, that stays buried.
Lena: You don't care what happens to me or to her.
Michael: Compassion is for the weak. I only promised you a paycheck.
Lena: That's what it's all about to you, isn't it? Power.
Michael: What else is there, Lena? Huh?
Michael: What? What, like you and Bianca have? Please, she's just a mark to you, Lena. Right?
Lena: You know, I thought that after all this time you spent with Kendall, I thought you'd feel something for her.
Michael: What, that I would fall in love with her while I was sharing my bed with you? All it was to me was amusement, Lena.
Lena: You're sick.
Michael: And you have to do as you're told, without question.
Lena: As if I ever had any choice.
Erica: Joe, how is he? How did the surgery go?
Joe: Hi. He's stable.
Erica: Oh, thank God!
Joe: We were able to remove the bullet from his chest, and there's no damage to the nearby organs. But he did lose quite a bit of blood, and we still don't know how long he was unconscious before he was found.
Opal: What exactly are you trying to say, Joe?
Joe: That we can't predict how extensive the damage may be over the long term.
Erica: What kind of damage? Look, I'm prepared. I mean, I'm going to be there for him, whatever he needs.
Joe: Well, it may not be quite that simple.
Erica: Why not?
Joe: Because Jack may not be the same man he was before he was shot.
Bianca: What do you mean?
Opal: You talking about brain damage?
Joe: It's a possibility.
Erica: I want to see him, Joe.
Joe: He's still very heavily sedated. It --
Aidan: You don't know what you're talking about when it comes to Maureen.
Kendall: I know she used to be Maria. Do you?
Aidan: Everyone has a past, Kendall. At least Maureenís isn't one to be ashamed of.
Kendall: Oh, come on, Aidan, your chickie is no saint. You're setting her up to be this person that she's not, that she may never be.
Aidan: Really? Is that something you learned from getting down with Michael Cambias?
Kendall: You're way off about him, ok?
Aidan: Am I? Or is it just because you two crashed and burned?
Kendall: Ok, for your information, Michael and I are back together.
Aidan: Are you serious? How many times are you going to let this guy walk all over you?
Bianca: Kendall, have you seen Lena?
Kendall: No, she was here earlier. I don't know where she went.
Opal: You know, I can use a caffeine boost. Would you like to keep me company?
Bianca: Sure. Mom, if Lena comes back, would you --
Erica: I'll tell her where to go.
Bianca: Ok. Thank you.
Erica: Ok. Joe, could you just give me one moment, please?
Aidan: Erica, how's Jackson?
Erica: Aidan, hello. Yes, he's fine. The surgery was a -- was a big success. Kendall, I wanted to thank you for before.
Kendall: Well, you're welcome.
Erica: I'll be in touch.
Aidan: Wow. If I hadn't seen that with my own eyes --
Aidan: Erica thanking you.
Kendall: Don't worry, I don't think it's one of the official signs of the Apocalypse.
Aidan: Well, I guess I owe you an apology.
Maddie: You said mommy was the most beautiful lady you ever saw.
Edmund: I did say that, yes.
Maddie: Then how come you don't kiss mommy the way you do Mia?
Edmund: Well, because -- because mommy's in love with Aidan, and I respect that.
Maddie: Are you in love with Mia?
Edmund: I don't know. I do like her a lot. I know that. And you would, too, if you gave her a chance.
Maddie: I don't want Mia to be my mom.
Edmund: Oh, sweetheart, she's not trying to be your mom, ok?
Maddie: Then what is she doing?
Edmund: She's getting close to me. Honey, I know you didn't like what you saw back at the house, and I'm sorry. But I'm not going to lie to you and say it's not going to happen again because -- because it will. And I know you want it to be with mommy, but -- but it won't be, and that's not Mia's fault, ok?
Edmund: So what do you say we go back to the house and you apologize to her?
Maddie: Is that what you want me to do?
Edmund: You know it's the right thing to do. Ok? Come on. Come here, sweetie. Ready to climb?
Edmund: One, two --
Mia: Maureen, I never lied to Maddie. I think she was upset because she walked in on us.
Maria: No, you obviously said something to her that was misleading.
Mia: I told her that Edmund and I are friends, which we are.
Maria: Ok, look, I'm just -- I'm very concerned for my daughter and what she's going through right now, and maybe what you said to her and what you're showing her are two different things.
Mia: Well, you would know, wouldn't you?
Maria: What's that supposed to mean?
Mia: Didn't you tell Maddie that you cared about her but you couldn't be her mommy? And don't you show her all the time that you'd rather be with Aidan than with her?
Maria: You know what, you are way out of line. You know what? I have been nothing but honest with Maddie about how I feel about her and how I feel about Aidan. And -- ok, you know what the bottom line is? Edmund and I have already decided how to handle this.
Mia: Oh. I didn't know there was an Edmund and you.
Maria: Oh, yeah, there is.
Maria: There is and there always will be because of the kids.
Mia: Well, that's very convenient. So you can just come and go as you please. If you ask me, it's pretty selfish.
Maria: I didn't. And come on, who do you think you are, anyway?
Mia: Well, I think I'm probably the only one who's not afraid to call you on what you're doing.
Maria: Wow. I'm so sorry that you're threatened by me.
Mia: I'm not threatened by you, really.
Maria: Hey, Maddie. How you doing? You ok?
Edmund: Maddie has something she'd like to say. Go on, sweetheart. We're listening. Maddie, you remember what we talked about?
Maddie: Yes. I'm sorry.
Mia: Thank you. Apology accepted.
Edmund: There. Don't you feel better now?
Maddie: No. I still wish you'd leave my daddy alone!
Maria: No, no, no, I'll go. I'll go. You've got company, and sometimes a little girl just needs her mother.
Edmund: You ok?
Mia: Yeah. I'm fine.
Edmund: You sure? Listen, I'm sorry Maddie's giving you such a hard time. You know what? She'll come around, I promise.
Edmund: What's so funny?
Mia: Well, it's not really Maddie that I'm worried about, Edmund. It's Maria.
Edmund: You mean Maureen.
Aidan: For what it's worth, what I said about you --
Kendall: Aidan --
Aidan: And your boyfriend --
Kendall: Aidan, stop, ok? I -- I know what Iím doing.
Aidan: Well, maybe you do, Kendall, but I just think you can do a whole lot better than Michael Cambias.
Michael: Well, I certainly hope she doesn't agree with you.
Michael: Hey, gorgeous.
Kendall: Hi. I -- I wasn't expecting you to be here.
Michael: Well, I figured you needed me here, so I thought Iíd come down.
Kendall: Oh. Aidan, Iíll -- Iíll see you later.
Kendall: You want to tell me why you're here?
Michael: Well, I could ask you the same question.
Kendall: Well, Jackson was shot.
Michael: Yeah. Yeah, I heard. It's -- it's not good.
Kendall: Yeah. I'm sure that stone you call a heart is just breaking as we speak.
Michael: So you were with Erica when you heard about this?
Kendall: Yeah. So what?
Erica: I wonder what's taking Joe so long. He said I could speak with Jackson.
Opal: And I'm sure that you will. Joe is a man of his word, honey. Don't worry. Look, I'm sorry if I made you mad by voicing my opinion before.
Erica: Well, Opal, your opinion was a really horrible accusation against Chris. And I meant what I said. Chris would never do that. Joe -- Joe, can I see him?
Joe: He's still very heavily sedated.
Erica: He'll know Iím there.
Opal: Real trouper, that one.
Joe: Well, she is that. She is that. How you doing, Bianca? You have any questions about your uncle?
Bianca: Oh. Um -- not now. I'm just going to sit down and wait for mom.
Opal: So, Joe, has Tad told you anything about Jamie's latest escapades?
Joe: You mean his college call girl?
Opal: His -- what, a hooker?
Joe: Well, what were you talking about?
Opal: Well, his night in the slammer.
Joe: Jamie was in jail?
Opal: Joe, I think we got to talk.
Bianca: Lena. I thought you left.
Lena: Where would I go without you?
Bianca: Mom just went inside. I thought I would just wait here for her, but -- where are we going?
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Chris: God help me, I wanted him gone. I wanted him dead!
Erica: You did this?
Michael: If you're lying to me, Iíll make you pay.
Carlos: I want you to know that Iím really happy to be here.
Greenlee: Took us long enough.
