Previously on "All My Children" --
Carlos: How is it someone capable of such kindness can be so cold?
Kendall: You ruined us. This is about your cheating and your lying and your ridiculous need to control everybody.
Erica: Liza Colby was just here and she has accused me of bankrolling that lawsuit against Fusion.
Boyd: It was Lena, wasn't it?
Flanders: You say the word and Jack Montgomeryís a dead man.
Bartender: Dirty martini.
Kendall: Thank you.
Bartender: Green apple martini.
Greenlee: What's that face for?
Kendall: Nothing, it's just this -- this is the drink that I had when I met Michael.
Greenlee: Oh, God. This is about as sympathetic as I get. Ok, fine. Better?
Kendall: Yes. Careful, that's very strong.
Greenlee: All right, so am I. We both are.
Kendall: Oh, God -- you get all Thelma and Louise on me right now, I swear, I'm going to kill you. Drink up.
Henry: Ok, this is a decent-sized crowd.
Maggie: Oh, you're thinking about when you play?
Henry: Well, yeah. You see any friendly faces?
Maggie: Um -- lots, actually. Don't worry, you still have a whole week to psyche yourself up.
Man: Oh, Henry. You showed? Good.
Henry: Hey, Dan, what's up?
Erica: Yes, hello. Or should I say, jo san. Yes, yes, it's very late here, but it doesn't matter. I'm fine with this if you -- Yes, Iím -- I'm here, yes, but -- I'm sorry, we seem to have a really terrible connection. Could -- could I call you back? Yes, that -- that would be great. Joi gin.
Chris: Um -- I'll have a scotch, neat, please.
Michael's voice: If you don't seduce that formula out of Bianca, Iíll make sure you regret it, big time.
Boyd: Pretty late to be all alone in the boss' office, don't you think?
Jack: Actually, I'm not -- I'm not waiting for anybody.
Anna: Oh. Am I interrupting your lonely drinking?
Jack: Yes, you are, in fact, and I welcome it. Will you please join me?
Anna: Thank you. I'm going to have a ginger ale. Live dangerously, right?
Bartender: You got it.
Jack: So, speaking of drinking alone, where's what's-his-name?
Anna: Well, he's going to join me here.
Anna: Out of the home. It's really a big step for him, you know? Me, too. Thank you.
Jack: Well, here's looking at you. You're looking happier than I've seen you in a while.
Anna: Actually, I could say the same for you.
Jack: Hmm. It's the lighting in here. I've talked to Mateo about it, but he just won't do anything about it. What?
Anna: What happened with Erica?
Jack: She said no.
Anna: Oh. I'm sorry.
Anna: You think there's any chance that she'll --
Jack: Change her mind?
Jack: Frankly, Anna, it doesn't matter if she does. You know? I've wasted so much of my life hoping and waiting. And eventually, you know, the ride's got to come to a halt. You got to get off and walk on down the midway.
Henry: I'm not even scheduled till next week.
Dan: You just got bumped up.
Henry: Well, they'll be counting on you to play the blues. I mean, I do classical, you know that.
Dan: What I know is you can play.
Henry: Improvisation's not my thing. I --
Dan: You'd be doing me a huge favor, Henry. And I don't forget who comes through for me.
Henry: Look, no, I'm sorry, I canít.
Dan: The band bails, I got to refund a whole lot of money.
[Greenlee and Kendall laugh]
Greenlee and Kendall: Cheers!
Kendall: Drink up.
Greenlee: So -- mmm.
Greenlee: Mmm. Who do you think she is?
Kendall: Who do I think who is?
Greenlee: The woman Michaelís sleeping with.
Kendall: Ok, if this is your way of -- of cheering me up --
Greenlee: No -- come on, come on, come on. Come on, Iíve been to therapy. It's good to talk about these things.
Greenlee: Pretend I'm in a hammock.
Kendall: What? Whatever. You know what? Look, I even told you -- I told you that he wouldn't even admit that he was sleeping with somebody. He wouldnít. And I heard him on the phone with her.
Greenlee: Do you think it's someone we know?
Kendall: Someone we know?
Kendall: No. No. You know what? It doesn't even matter. The fact is he was sleeping with somebody else. That's all I need to know.
Greenlee: Oh. Kendall, Kendall, Kendall.
Kendall: Oh, don't even start with me.
Greenlee: A man like Michael -- what spoon he uses to stir his coffee with is just as important to him as the knife he stabs in your back.
Kendall: Yeah, well, I -- I didn't even see the knife coming, so --
Greenlee: No, no, no -- my point is that Michael chose you for a reason.
Greenlee: And it wasn't your quick wit.
Kendall: Go to hell. Twice.
Lena: You startled me.
Boyd: I'm sorry. You thought you were alone?
Lena: Yes, I did, but I'm always happy to see you. You know that.
Boyd: So, what are you doing here?
Lena: Oh, I'm just doing a job for Erica. How about you? You usually keep such long hours at the lab?
Boyd: It happens every now and then.
Lena: Still working on your breakthrough formula? Boyd, is something the matter?
Boyd: I don't know. Is there?
Lena: Are you -- are you upset that Iím seeing Bianca?
Boyd: Well, I didn't know it was official, but no. You made your feelings clear about the both of us. Whatever you -- whatever choice you made, well, it's up to you.
Lena: Thank you for being so understanding. I know Bianca considers you to be a close friend.
Boyd: Yeah, well, my only concern has always been that Bianca not get caught in the middle.
Lena: But those are my concerns.
Boyd: Good. So you left her tonight to come here for -- for work?
Lena: Oh, yes. There was just something that couldn't wait.
Boyd: Oh, right, like the lawsuit against Fusion?
Lena: You know about that?
Boyd: Erica told me.
Lena: Well, it seems quite serious. It looks like the D.A.'s office is looking to investigate Enchantment.
Boyd: Yeah, I heard. But Erica assures me she had nothing to do with it, and, well, I believe her.
Lena: And so do I. Which means that someone from inside Enchantment has been misusing company funds. And as C.F.O., it's my job to find out who.
Chris: Thank you. I was going to say hello.
Erica: Well, what stopped you?
Chris: Um -- you were on the phone.
Erica: How are you?
Chris: Doing all right.
Chris: You? Erica?
Erica: Well, not that I would expect you to particularly care, but I am going through rather a difficult time.
Chris: Oh, yeah, I heard something about a connection between Enchantment and a lawsuit against Fusion.
Erica: Yes, yes. That and -- Jackson and I had a terrible falling-out.
Chris: Oh. And --
Erica: I know you blame him for everything that happened between us.
Chris: Yeah, well -- no, no, no -- not entirely, Erica, no. I mean, but looking to -- to point -- someone to finger at right now doesn't make any sense, does it?
Erica: No, of course not. I absolutely agree.
Chris: Yeah, well, I'm sure whatever falling-out you two had, you'll patch it up.
Erica: No. No, not this time. This was different. You see, Jackson asked me to marry him and I turned him down.
Chris: You turned him down?
Erica: Yes. And -- well, he just -- he doesn't want to listen to the reasons why. I think he just wants to make me feel responsible for his heartache.
Chris: You know, I'm -- I'm surprised you said no.
Erica: Of course I would say no. I mean, it wasn't very long ago that -- that you and I were --
Chris: Yeah. I remember. So -- so what happened when you turned him down?
Erica: Well, he was very angry and he was very hurt, and so he lashed out, and he said that if he couldn't have me the way he wanted to have me, then I couldn't have him at all. And no matter what we've been to each other, he just severed all ties.
Chris: Why -- why are you telling me all this, Erica? Because I --
Erica: I --
Chris: I don't know what makes you think that I really care about what goes on between you and Jackson.
Erica: I told you, I know that you don't care. I told you that. I began by saying that. I just guess that I -- I feel very comfortable talking to you. I -- I really feel comfortable confiding in you. I'm sorry. I don't have the right to do that anymore. I'm sorry.
Chris: Yeah. Look, don't -- don't -- don't go beating yourself up about it.
Erica: All right, I won't. Enjoy your drink.
Chris: Yeah. He'll come around. Trust me.
Lena: Well, it seems that the lawsuit was designed to undermine Erica and her company.
Boyd: Well, it's inventive, that's for sure.
Lena: Who do you think is behind it?
Boyd: I don't know. I only know who Erica suspects.
Lena: Who's that?
Boyd: Michael Cambias.
Lena: Oh. Well, he did make a move on Enchantment.
Boyd: And failed.
Lena: Well, that doesn't make sense, though. The lawsuit is against Fusion. Isn't that his girlfriend's company?
Boyd: Do you really think a small detail like that matters to a man like Cambias? I mean, let's face it, he's tried to pit Erica and Kendall against each other since he got to Pine Valley.
Lena: Be fair, Boyd. It's not as though Erica and Kendall need Cambias for that.
Boyd: Look, don't kid yourself, Lena. Cambias has done more than his share to stir the waters, believe me.
Lena: He's also managed to create a wedge between you and Kendall, yes?
Boyd: Look, I know where you're going with this, but this has nothing to do with me and Kendall.
Lena: Boyd, it's obvious you still have feelings for her. I can tell just by the way you talk about her. It's how I knew I never stood a chance with you.
Boyd: You know what? I also care about Erica and this company, both of whom have been very good to me.
Lena: And Kendall hasn't?
Boyd: Lena, I just want to find who's responsible for this, make sure they're punished, that's it.
Lena: Well, as soon as I find out who's behind this money transfer, we'll know if Cambias is to blame or not.
Boyd: Good. You don't mind if stick around, do you? See what you find out?
Chris: I just want to say, you're not as alone as you think you are.
Erica: Thank you.
Chris: And -- and for what it's worth, I sometimes find myself picking up a phone because I want to -- want to call you.
Erica: Well, that'll pass, I'm sure, in time.
Chris: Yeah. And I'm sorry that things haven't worked out for you and Jackson.
Erica: Oh -- you are such a bad liar.
Erica: You didn't want anything good to happen between Jackson and me. Who are you trying to kid?
Chris: That's true, but Iím just trying to be polite.
Erica: Anyway, that's probably for the best. Because what Jackson and I had -- it was very, very hard to even define. You know that.
Chris: Yes, I do.
Erica: And it really interfered with a lot of situations unnecessarily.
Chris: Like ours?
Erica: Yeah. But who knows? I mean, I also can't imagine my life without Jack in it. And I know that's not what you want to hear.
Chris: Erica, all right, it doesn't matter what your answer is right now. I mean, it's over between us.
Erica: I am so truly sorry.
Chris: Yeah. So am I, sweetheart. So am I. What?
Erica: I just miss hearing you call me that.
Erica: Listen, you have to promise me something. Please, that you be happy.
Chris: I was happy.
Erica: I was too. I was -- we were very happy there for a little while, weren't we?
Chris: A long while.
Erica: Yeah. Well, it was good seeing you.
Chris: You were always easy on my eyes.
Erica: Listen, I hope that -- I mean, maybe it's too much to hope and maybe too much to ask for, but I really hope that sometime, sometime in the future, that -- that we can be friends again.
Chris: So do I.
Maggie: Why won't you consider playing?
Henry: Well, in case you forgot, I don't exactly perform well under pressure.
Maggie: Ok, playing guitar is not the same as taking an o-chem test. This is your chance to show everybody how unbelievably talented you are.
Henry: Come on, don't look at me like that.
Maggie: Ok. It's your decision. You know? I won't say anything about it.
Henry: You're going to be disappointed in me if I say no, aren't you?
Maggie: Ok, A, that's impossible. And, B, I just don't want you to be disappointed in yourself, that's all.
Henry: Ok, fine, I'll do it.
Henry: Yeah, for you.
Jack: I understand what you're saying, Anna, I do. But I've spent most of my adult life pursuing Erica, trying to convince her that she needs me.
Anna: Well, what do you need? Have you asked yourself that?
Jack: Sure, I have. You bet I have. I -- I thought I needed her, too, you know? But maybe what I needed, actually, was a challenge or maybe Iím just a masochist.
Anna: You don't honestly believe that's what's kept you around all these years, do you?
Anna: No. See?
Jack: No, I donít. Because when we were together, it was just --
Jack: Yeah, it was amazing. It was amazing. But it was also amazingly painful.
Anna: Maybe the reason it's so difficult to love someone completely is because it's so rare. Maybe that's why we struggle, and we give them chance after chance. I mean, what's the alternative? A life of misery and scotch?
Jack: Hey, don't knock the scotch.
Anna: I know. Single malt? Never.
Jack: You know, for a long time, I thought it was me. I thought I just wasn't enough for her, but lately I've realized that's not it. It's just that she -- for some reason, she just can't allow herself to do it. You know, she just can't allow herself to give herself to me, so Iíve decided to find somebody, you know, who can. I mean, I -- I want somebody in my life. I want somebody to love, so I'm going to go out and find that person.
Anna: Good. Good luck.
Jack: Hmm. Thank you.
Anna: And I envy her, whoever she is. She's a lucky lady. I mean that.
Jack: Well, aren't you so kind to say so?
Anna: I can't drink any more of this. It makes me sick.
Jack: Don't, don't.
Anna: You made it.
David: Of course I made it.
Anna: Yes. Hmm.
David: What, you doubted me?
Erica: Lena. I thought that was you.
Erica: I saw the light on from outside. Are you working on the project?
Lena: Yes, but Iím having very little luck in working out exactly how Enchantment money ended up funding the lawsuit against Fusion.
Erica: Well, as you said, you would know more when the banks open. Believe me, I have full confidence in your abilities.
Lena: Thank you.
Erica: Boyd, I'm so glad that you're here.
Boyd: I was just here to give Lena any support she may need.
Erica: Well, that's wonderful. That's wonderful. But now that you are here, may I have a word with you, please?
Boyd: Oh, absolutely.
Erica: Privately, if you don't mind?
Boyd: Oh, sure.
Erica: Excuse us, Lena.
Erica: Boyd, I know why Lena is here, but why are you here -- really?
Boyd: I wanted to see what she would come up with.
Erica: You think that she is still somehow involved?
Boyd: It's just a feeling. I can't explain it.
Erica: Has she ever asked you about the formula?
Boyd: Lena? Nothing specific or out of place, no.
Erica: Well, I found her with Bianca earlier.
Boyd: You did?
Erica: Yes, I did. They were actually in Lenaís hotel room, so I know that they're together now.
Boyd: And you're worried?
Erica: I want Bianca to be careful. I mean, Bianca is so open.
Boyd: Right, and Lenaís not. I've already tried to warn Bianca about that.
Erica: You have?
Erica: What did she say?
Boyd: Well, you want the polite version? Mind my own business.
Erica: Uh-huh. Yes, well, that's just about what she said to me, too. Boyd, I swear, if that woman hurts Bianca or this company, I will kill her. I will kill her with my own bare hands. So, Lena, have you made any progress?
Erica: Well, what -- what did you find?
Greenlee: Wait a minute. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Girlfriend, where are you going, and why are you so happy?
Kendall: Yes. You have a disgustingly sick grin on your face.
Greenlee: Wouldn't have anything to do with that guy you came in here with, would it?
Maggie: Maybe just a little.
Kendall: Oh, I knew it! I knew it.
Greenlee: No, I knew it. I told you.
Maggie: Henry is playing with the band tonight.
Greenlee: His name is Henry?
Maggie: Yes. And can you please be really supportive? Because he's so nervous, ok?
Greenlee: Even if he stinks?
Maggie: Especially if he stinks. And he won't because he's really, really good.
Greenlee: Oh! Cute and talented -- not bad.
Kendall: Oh, you guys are so cute together. Really, you are. Either that or this drink is making me sick.
Maggie: Thank you.
Greenlee: So, is it love?
Kendall: Come on, you can tell us.
Greenlee: Yeah, we won't tell him.
Kendall: Scout's honor. Scout's honor.
Maggie: Ok. Just a little. Yes.
Greenlee: Yes! All right!
Kendall: To love, while it lasts. Before it makes you bitter and miserable --
Greenlee: Like Kendall.
Kendall: Like Greenlee.
Maggie: How many of these have you guys had exactly?
Kendall: Well, this is the first with the umbrellas.
Greenlee: We had martinis.
Anna: This is so fun isn't it?
David: What's that?
Anna: Being out, with people.
David: Yeah. I kind of forgot that there was a whole other world out there apart from diapers and feedings and lullabies.
Anna: Me, too. I'm so happy that you've given us this night to focus on each other. I really appreciate it.
David: Yeah, that's great, but I want to be able to see the phone, ok, just in case --
Anna: Please, David, you don't need to see it. You'll hear it if it rings.
David: Over the band?
Anna: The band's not playing right now. Come on, just can we have a couple of hours to ourselves, just for us?
David: Oh, Anna. Leora is a part of us, all right?
Anna: I know that. But there's more to us than just being her parents.
David: I know. I know that.
Anna: Do you? Because I feel like I haven't had your full attention for weeks now and I need to reconnect with you. I really need it.
David: You always have that. You know it.
Anna: Do I?
Anna: Maybe a little reminder every now and again would be nice.
David: Look, I'm sorry, all right? Just because we're here doesn't mean that I'm going to stop worrying about Leora.
Anna: She's fine. She is. She's with the nurse. And if anything should happen -- which it won't -- she knows where to reach us. Please, be here with me. Hello? Me. Us.
David: You're right. Ok, we can.
David: You look gorgeous. You know what I want to do?
Anna: Tell me.
Henry: Look, I don't really mean to blow this gig for you guys, but I've never played in front of a crowd before.
Man: Don't worry about it. Now, Dan played us your tape. You've got it. Just follow our lead and trust the music. Can you do that?
Henry: Yeah, that's -- I mean, I think I can.
Man: Well, good. That's all the assurance we need. Oh, and one last bit of advice -- if you're going to hurl, avoid the stage. New shoes.
Dan: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to S.O.S.! Yeah! The Gamblin' Guthries are here. They're going to sing, they're going to play, make you forget all your troubles -- at least for a few hours. So let's give a slamming welcome to the Gamblin' Guthries.
Greenlee: Hey, Andy never brought us our drinks.
Maggie: Oh, how dare he.
Kendall: I will go make a scene. Excuse me.
Greenlee: You do that, sister.
Kendall: Hello, Jackson. Andy -- drinks, umbrellas, here, pronto. Please.
Andy: Right -- two umbrellas.
Jack: You know, I don't know whether you heard or not, but Trey has been moved to a minimum-security facility.
Kendall: Oh, what does that mean? That he's going to be surrounded by a few less guards? Boy, that Trey is really enjoying prison life now. Andy, can you pour faster, please.
Jack: You know, Trey got what he deserved.
Kendall: You know, speaking of which, my condolences to you and your engagement with Erica.
Jack: I'm not engaged to Erica. I never was.
Kendall: Oh, really? Well, lucky for you, then.
Andy: There you go.
Kendall: Thank you very much, honey. I'll be sure to tell Trey the good news. I'm sure it'll make him really happy. I know it made my day. Bye.
Man: Thank you, thank you. What a welcome. It's a special night for us tonight because someone up here is making his professional debut.
Greenlee: Go, Henry! Whoo!
Man: That's right. So go easy on our boy Henry because you never forget your first time.
Kendall: Yeah! You go, baby! You go!
Greenlee: Work it, work it!
Kendall: He's good, Maggie! He's really good!
Greenlee: Good? He's great, and I don't know a thing about guitars. Whoo! Whoo!
Lena: Look -- someone's managed to access our network and move funds from our account into the plaintiff's account.
Boyd: But that's a pretty obvious money trail, isn't it?
Erica: Do you know who's responsible?
Lena: Well, luckily, as Boyd says, this man wasn't very good at covering his tracks. His name is Barton Phillips.
Erica: Well, who is that?
Lena: He's a consultant from an outside accounting firm. I had to let him go about a month ago. I'm afraid he didn't take it very well.
Boyd: So this Barton Phillips, he's behind this whole lawsuit?
Lena: It looks like it.
Boyd: And he set all this up because he was fired?
Erica: Well, actually, Boyd, I have seen this kind of thing in the past. I mean, not this extreme, of course, but it happens.
Lena: Look, Erica, I was the one who fired him. This is my fault.
Erica: No, really, Lena, don't -- don't do that. Don't blame yourself, please. Listen, can you download this and give me a printout? I'd like to take it to the district attorney's office and show it to them in the morning.
Lena: Certainly. I can do it straightaway.
Erica: Wonderful. Then maybe Jackson will drop the ridiculous charges against me for somehow being involved with this bogus lawsuit and go after the man who is really responsible.
Greenlee: Go, Henry!
Man: You got yourself one hell of a fan club, kid. That's Henry Chin on the guitar tonight, folks, as if you couldn't tell.
[cheers and applause]
Man: Not bad for a blues virgin, huh?
Anna: I thought he was very good.
David: Yeah, he's not half-bad.
Anna: What are you doing?
David: The nurse hasn't called. I just want to check to make sure Leora's ok.
Anna: Of course she hasn't called, everything's fine.
David: I'll be back in two seconds.
Man: We're going to slow things down now, change the mood a little. What do you say, Henry? You up for it? All right.
David: We got to go. Leora has a fever. Come on.
Anna: She does? Oh, my goodness. Well, leave some money.
On the next "All My Children" --
Kendall: I want to join forces with you.
Anna: I signed the consent forms. Leora's scheduled for surgery.
Erica: Jackson is missing.
Jack: Help me. Someone help me.
