Edmund: Ugh!

[Mia gasps]

Mia: Edmund?

Isabella: Maria will come back to the people who truly matter to her.

Michael: Isn't this the second time that some woman has dumped you for another guy?

Bartender: Come on, guys, take it outside. Let's go! Knock it off!

Opal: Stop it! Come on now, Chris --

Jack: Well?

Erica: Well. It's breathtaking.

Jack: Ain't it, though?

Erica: Yeah.

Jack: Of course, if you'd like something different, I'm sure we can arrange it.

Erica: Oh, no. No, no, no. I've never seen anything more beautiful in my entire life. Ben Affleck has nothing on you. It's perfect.

Jack: That's the way I felt when I saw it. And the jeweler says, "you know, this gem is one of a kind." And I said, "well, that's a good thing. So is she." Erica, let's not fight it anymore. Let me love you with all that I am, with all that I have. Marry me, Erica.

Edmund: And since "Tempo" is carried all over the world, once this article comes out about Fusion cosmetics, you'll be internationally recognized.

Mia: Wow, that is something. I can't seem to wrap my brain around this one. I mean, I'm sure that Kendall and Simone and Greenlee will just love being famous, but I just -- I don't know.

[Edmund chuckles]

Mia: It's kind of weird.

Maddie: Who's this for? Is it somebody's birthday?

Mia: I didn't realize I left that out.

Colby: Why are you holding William's present?

Maddie: I found it on the bed.

Edmund: Who's William?

Mia: William is my son.

Maria: You've got some explaining to do because that chef back there, when he handed you the basket, he said it was "the usual."

Aidan: Right.

Maria: "The usual"?

Aidan: That's because of the menu.

Maria: "Mr. Devane?" Yeah, sure. How many of these impromptu little picnics have you had?

Aidan: Not many, but --

Maria: Mm-hmm.

Aidan: I will come clean. I did bring Kendall here a while back, but that was way before you and I ever even --

Maria: You don't even have to explain. You don't. I'm really not the jealous type. I was just kidding you, giving you a hard time.

Aidan: How do you manage that? When I fall in love with someone, just the thought of losing them for any reason is -- it's just more than I can bear.

Maria: Well, it's -- you've lost a lot of people that you really love. I mean, maybe if I remembered that happening to me, I might, you know --

Aidan: You will. You will soon enough.

Maria: No, no, I won't, Aidan.

Aidan: But we both know it's possible, Maureen. Even your mother said it's just a matter of time before you get your memory back and remember all of those who are really important to you.

Erica: You want an answer right now?

Jack: Oh, yes, I'm ready.

Erica: Well, I'm not. I mean, I told you, Jack. I need time. I need time to breathe and time to process everything that's happened. Why are you here right now? Why are you doing this? Why are you here declaring your love right now and putting me on the spot when you know that my heart is torn?

Jack: Because my heart is not torn, Erica. It is yours, totally and completely. Look, the way see it, there's two ways we can do this. We can do it your way, which is where I give you enough time and space so that you can pull away from me again --

Erica: No, that's not what I --

Jack: Or we do it my way, which is to tell you that I have loved you since I knew you, I've never stopped loving you, and I never will.

Erica: Jack, please --

Jack: No. No "Jack, please." Erica, how many chances do you think two people get, huh?

Erica: But you're asking me to decide right now how I want to spend the rest of my life.

Jack: Yes, that is exactly what I'm asking you. And I'm hoping that you'll decide to spend it with me.

Erica: I can't possibly -- I won't! You know, you are being completely selfish here, and unreasonable, Jackson. And you think just because you're ready that I'm supposed to be ready? That is so arrogant!

Jack: Deep breaths, Erica. Deep breaths.

Erica: You know, you are in no position to make demands on me.

Jack: Keep breathing, keep breathing. Sweetheart, all I want to do is love you.

Erica: Your way! Your way! Asking me to marry you when I barely just have Chris' engagement ring off my finger.

Jack: Are you suggesting there might be a good time to propose to you?

Erica: Well, there would be a better time. Look at you.

Jack: No, I'd much rather look at you.

Erica: Look at you, here it comes. You're so sure of yourself. You're so sure you know me. Well, I bet you didn't know that I went to see Chris this morning.

Jack: No, I didn't. What happened? Did he say he wanted you back?

Erica: No. He said that he wanted me to know that you've made an enormous fool out of me.

Chris: Excuse me. Sorry, sorry. Opal? Opal? You ok, sweetie?

Opal: Oh, Chris -- yeah --

Chris: Come here, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Opal.

Opal: Oh, I think I just knocked the wind out of me, that's all.

Chris: All right, I didn't see you. I'm sorry.

Opal: Well, no. That's because I was just sticking my big bazoo in where it doesn't belong.

Chris: Look, why don't we get you up over here --

Opal: Ok.

Chris: In this chair.

Opal: Whoa.

Chris: Go on, go on.

Opal: Hmm.

Chris: Just try to get your breath.

Man: Opal, are you hurt?

Opal: Oh, no, no, I'm fine.

Man: Do you need medical --

Opal: I'm fine, really. No, you want to help, you know, just call a truce between these two broncos here. I mean, I'd like to see that maybe they came to blows because of me, but -- oh, it's just an accident, pure and simple. I'm fine. I'm fine, thanks.

Man: Well, accident or not, if you gentlemen can't resolve your differences in a polite manner --

Chris: All right, I got the message. I got it.

Michael: Oh, and of course, any damages -- I'll take care of.

Chris: You're damn right you will.

Michael: You ever try anger management?

Opal: Is that supposed to be funny? Because, mister, you better be counting your lucky stars this didn't happen out in the parking lot or we'd be picking gravel out of your teeth right now.

Michael: I don't believe we've met. Michael Cambias.

Opal: Yeah, I know who you are. You're that corporate cannibal who's trying to gobble up Enchantment. Spreading lies and poison about Erica? Lousy --

Chris: Opal, Opal, Opal -- you save it. He'll get what's coming to him.

Michael: You got that right. I always do, stamp.

Chris: Uh-huh.

Michael: A pleasure.

Opal: Not for me. I know why you lost your temper, Chris. I am just so sorry that it all fell apart between you and Erica.

Chris: Yeah? Well, if you were so sorry, where were you when your best friend was jumping into the sack with Jackson Montgomery?

Opal: I was in the dark, completely in the dark. I didn't know anything about it until after it happened.

Chris: And afterwards, did she ask you to cover up for her?

Opal: No. Oh, no, of course not. No, she -- she felt rotten to the core. I'm telling you, she couldn't believe that she did what she did. It was really just so --

Chris: Opal -- Opal, don't you ever get tired of cleaning up after Erica's messes?

Opal: Well, now that you mention it, yeah, I do.

Edmund: Maddie, sweetheart, why don't you give that present back to Mia.

Maddie: Am I in trouble?

Mia: No, of course you're not in trouble. No, you guys need a project, and, you know, we just brought Colby's dollhouse over here, but we haven't unpacked anything yet back in the bedroom -- any of the clothes or the dolls or anything.

Maddie: We can do it, right, Colby? Come on, Colby.

Mia: Not many people know about William.

Edmund: We don't have to talk about this, Mia.

Mia: No, it's ok. I want you to know. I gave William up for adoption right after he was born.

Edmund: Well, I think it's great that you've stayed a part of his life.

Mia: Well, actually, I haven't seen him since he was two days old. But he's part of a wonderful family now, who have given him everything that I couldn't give him.

Edmund: So you don't have any contact at all with him?

Mia: No. No. But every year for his birthday, I get him a present and I write him letters, you know, like those kind that people send out at Christmastime. And I tell him -- I tell him that I love him and, you know, I just -- I sort of tell him everything that I did that year.

Edmund: If he doesn't know you, where do you send them?

Mia: I Don't. I don't send them. I just -- I keep them in a box under my bed. Just in case.

Edmund: In case what?

Mia: Well, in case when he gets older, if he wants to meet me, then I'll just -- I'll give him everything, and then he can see for himself that I never forgot him, you know, and that I never stopped loving him, not ever.

Maria: You know what I wish?

Aidan: What?

Maria: I wish that Isabella would just leave us alone!

Aidan: Yeah.

Maria: That's what I wish.

Aidan: How can she do that? She loves you way too much, Maureen.

Maria: No, correction -- she loves Maria.

Aidan: Ok. But what she's really saying is, is that she just can't wait for her baby to come home, where she thinks you belong.

Maria: Oh -- but I belong with you.

Aidan: Uh-uh. Maureen Gorman belongs with me --

Maria: Same thing, same thing.

Aidan: Yeah, maybe it is, but maybe it isn't.

Maria: What are you -- I mean, do you really think that if I got my memory back tomorrow that suddenly I would just cease to exist -- Maureen Gorman that you know and love -- that all my feelings for you would just end because I remembered loving somebody else?

Aidan: I don't know and neither do you. Look, I know this isn't anything that you can control, Maureen.

Maria: No, it's not. It's nothing that I can -- it's not even anything I want to think about, to tell you the truth. So --

Aidan: But you do think about it, though, don't you?

Maria: Yeah, sometimes I think about it. I -- what about you? It's on your mind?

Aidan: Yeah. It's on my mind.

Jack: Erica, you and I both know how and why we ended up in your bed, and nobody manipulated anybody. So frankly, I don't give a damn what Chris thinks.

Erica: Well, I do. And you don't want to hear this, but I was madly in love with Chris --

Jack: And you want him to say that what happened was ok, that no matter what happens, he still loves you.

Erica: What's wrong with that?

Jack: You want him to say, "I'll be there. I mean, if you change your mind and decide to come back, I'll there, hoping, waiting, praying, and I will be ready to take you back."

Erica: Wait a second. Who are we talking about now, Chris or you? Because it always comes back to you, doesn't it, Jack? You and your boundless resentment. And why do you want to marry me anyway?

Jack: Because, my dear, I love you. I love you completely and totally. In fact, I love you so much, I am willing to forgive the fact that you are one of the most maddening, infuriating, absolutely crazy lady I have ever known.

Erica: And you expect -- you expect me to accept your marriage proposal? You expect me to marry somebody who sees me as so flawed and so -- just wild and crazy and so incredibly --

Jack: Desirable?

Jack: I'm not going to ask you again. Now, I want you to just tell me the way you really feel. I want you to say yes.

[Door opens]

Val: Oh. I'm sorry, Erica, but -- I'm sorry to interrupt, but they're here --

Jack: Who's here?

Val: And ready to roll.

Erica: Oh, my God! I have an on-camera interview with that razor-toothed shark, that June Landau. Tell her to wait. Tell her to wait in the lobby.

Jack: I'll stall her.

June: What's the problem, Ms. Kane? Not ready for your close-up?

Jack: Hello, June. No, you know, Ms. Kane is always camera ready, but we were right in the middle of something. If you could give us just a few minutes, that'd be great.

June: I would like to, Mr. Montgomery, but we're about to go live. Perhaps you'd like to join Ms. Kane for her segment? Do you and our handsome district attorney have something you'd like to share with us? An exclusive announcement, perhaps?

Jack: No, no, no exclusives today, and Ms. Kane here -- she works alone, so, we'll just pick it up later, ok?

Erica: Sure.

Jack: Ok. Nice to see you, June.

Erica: Well, June, since the clock is ticking, where would you like me to sit?

June: All right.

Mia: Here I am, wrapping presents and writing letters that probably never, ever, ever are going to get opened, and you don't think that's just a little bit strange?

Edmund: A little strangely coincidental. I write to Sammy's birth mother a couple times a year.

Mia: Oh, you do?

Edmund: Yeah, yeah. Kelsey is her name. She actually looks forward to it. In July, for instance, I usually send a video of him and maybe his report card and some drawings that he's done.

Mia: That's nice.

Edmund: Yeah.

Mia: I mean, that's really nice, and that must be so reassuring for her. I mean, to see for herself that Sam is loved so much.

Edmund: I hope so.

Mia: But she's not actively involved in his life?

Edmund: No, no. But maybe -- you know, someday when he gets older, he may want to get to know her.

Mia: And you'd want that?

Edmund: I want what my son wants, what makes him happy. I mean, she brought him into this world, and I want him to be loved the way that she loves him, the way that you love William.

Maria: Ok, I can see that my mission, if I choose it, is to distract you today, obviously, and get you to stop thinking about this memory that I obviously don't have, so -- ahem -- [British accent] Spot of tea?

Aidan: Yeah, it'd be lovely. Thanks.

Maria: [Normal voice] ok. Come on. Now it's finally spring. There's no moping. No moping. Hmm?

Aidan: You know, that smile can fix just about anything, but I'm afraid we're just going to have to learn to live with this one.

Maria: And what do you mean by that? We're just going to stop and wait for the clouds in my head to clear and this past to come shining through?

Aidan: No. I'm just saying that we have to take each day as it comes.

Maria: Ok, well, what about the time bomb that's ticking in my head?

Aidan: I'll deal with it.

Maria: You'll deal with it? What about me? What about me?

Aidan: Well, if it happens, it's not really your problem, is it?

Maria: How is that? How is this not my problem?

Aidan: Because like you said, the doors will open, the clouds will part, and you'll remember your family, your husband, and your friends. All your questions are going to be answered.

Maria: No. More than likely, I'm going to end up with a whole host of new questions, Aidan. You know what? Ok, this topic is done, totally done, because you brought this beautiful spread and this is what I really what to focus on right now and not my memory or lack thereof, ok? I haven't gotten my memory back this far, and I'm not going to.

Aidan: Yeah. So what you're really saying is that you're mine by default?

June: I hope you won't mind a few personal questions, Ms. Kane. You've defined romance for so many women.

Erica: Well, thank you, June, thank you. However, I know it's just a five-minute spot, and I have agreed to talk about all the latest cosmetics and fashion trends.

June: We'll get to that, but the public is a lot more curious about what's going on in your life right now.

Erica: Sorry to disappoint, but really, nothing.

June: Hmm. I find that hard to believe.

Erica: Well, no curveballs, June. Be nice.

Director: Stand by to go live. Here we go, in five, four, three --

June: Thank you for joining us for "News at 5:00." I'm June landau. My guest today is Erica Kane --

Val: Well, here we go.

June: Founder, president, and C.E.O. of Enchantment cosmetics.

Val: You know, I'm sure Erica won't mind if you want to watch this interview from inside her office.

Jack: No, no, no, I'm good right here, val. Thanks.

June: Beauty tips from a woman whose beauty --

Val: She thinks you left, doesn't she?

Jack: Yep, but I'm not going anywhere.

Erica: Thank you so much. Well, the first thing I'd like you to do is think color.

Chris: Opal, Erica came to see me, and she apologized, and then she tried to get me to understand why she turned to Jackson, and I just --

Opal: Well, hurting you, Chris -- I mean, that made her question her whole way of living and -- and --

Chris: Hey, bartender, you want to turn that up, please?

Erica: And remember, everybody needs to use protection -- from the sun.

[June and Erica laugh]

June: We'll keep that in mind. But, first, I have to ask, have you set a date?

Erica: A date?

June: A wedding date?

Erica: June, my goodness, you're usually so sensitive. My former fiancÚ --

June: I'm not talking about your ex, your "canceled stamp."

Erica: I'm sorry. I don't follow.

June: Oh, Ms. Kane, fess up. A trusted source spotted D.A. Jackson Montgomery buying a very spectacular diamond engagement ring this morning.

Erica: Really?

June: Really. Any comment?

Erica: Well, no, of course not. I couldn't possibly comment on a rumor.

June: Then you won't let us see it?

Erica: Uh --

Erica: Well, now, June, how could I possibly show you a ring I don't have? Suppose we talk about Enchantment's new self-tanning product. It is brand-new on the market.

June: I just assumed that since Mr. Montgomery was here when I arrived for this interview --

Erica: Oh, well, you obviously assumed too much. As I was saying, tanning without burning --

June: Getting burned -- that reminds me. I hear Michael Cambias is putting Enchantment's feet to the flame. Has there been a takeover bid from the corporate giant?

Erica: Cambias Industries has attempted several times to take over Enchantment. But I must say that every attempt was completely unsuccessful.

June: Hmm. So, Enchantment's not in danger of being swallowed up?

Erica: No, none whatsoever.

June: But word on the street is that Michael Cambias is impossible to resist.

[Erica laughs]

Erica: Did Michael tell you that? Because that would be just like him, of course. Well, I must say that Michael Cambias did make his pitch and he was very, very determined, but ultimately ineffectual. Now, his father, Alexander Cambias -- there is a man who is a force, a very powerful presence. Very few people can say no to Alexander Cambias.

June: But you have?

Erica: On several occasions. Believe me, there is just no way that Cambias Industries is going to get anywhere near me or Enchantment. No, Enchantment is thriving, and I expect it to do so for a long, long time.

Chris: A ring?

Opal: Honey, it's who she is. You can't get away from that. Not if you stick around here, anyway. You know, maybe what you need is good vacation. You stay around here, you --

Chris: Opal, did -- did Jackson send you here?

Opal: What -- no. No, of course not.

Chris: Is -- is there anyone in this town who's on my side? Anyone?

Myrtle: Oh. My, my, my, my, my. He is in a hurry.

Opal: He is in bad shape, Myrt.

Myrtle: Erica again?

Opal: Yeah, and this time it's a real doozy.

Myrtle: Well, if you're going to tell me, honey, I'm going to need fortification. A dry Martini straight up, please.

Opal: Yeah, make that two.

Myrtle: Yeah, come on.

Mia: So, yeah. So you really want to go a few more rounds with me, huh?

Edmund: Uh-huh.

Mia: After that sucker punch I threw? Hmm? There were little tweety birds flying around your head.

Edmund: Oh, God, I want a rematch, actually.

Mia: You do?

Edmund: Mm-hmm.

Mia: Hmm. So what are the stakes?

Edmund: Come here and I'll tell you.

Maddie: No, I'm the mommy!

Colby: You said that you were the angel!

Maddie: First, I'm the angel, then I'm not an angel. I'm real, only I don't remember who I am. I don't remember anything, not even my own babies.

Colby: You're a mother, and you don't even remember your own babies?

Maddie: That's right, so I'm not going to live with them. I'm going to live with someone else.

Colby: You are?

Maddie: Yeah, and I'm going to kiss him all over his face.

[Maddie blows kisses]

Colby: Then what happens?

Maddie: Then I wake up. I remember who I am. I remember everything, and I come home, I kiss my babies, and we all live happily ever after.

[Aidan sighs]

Maria: Yours by default? Are you kidding? You really think that you're a second choice, that I would actually choose to be with somebody that I didn't really want to be with?

Aidan: Yeah, maybe not consciously, Maureen.

Maria: Oh, don't come on with the psychobabble. Don't do that. You know that you are everything that I want, Aidan.

Aidan: Because you don't remember, you can't remember who you used to be!

Maria: No, that's not why! That's not why --

Aidan: How do you know that? How can you say that? You don't know that that's the truth.

Maria: Ok, who does? Who really does know that that's -- even people who have got their memory can't make that claim.

Aidan: You know, sometimes I just -- I wish --

Maria: What? Say it. Just say it, Aidan. Say it.

Aidan: I wish you'd get your memory back.

Maria: Why?

Aidan: Honestly? Because then I would find out whether it's me you truly love or whether I'm just holding a place for Edmund.

Maria: Ok, ok, look -- let's just say -- ahem -- suppose I remembered every single second of my life before and I still chose you. Then you would relax, right? I mean, you would accept that?

Aidan: Yeah. Well, yeah.

Maria: Would you accept that and stop with the "what ifs"? You would?

Aidan: Yeah, of course I would.

Maria: Ok, so now that I'm starting to get my memory a little bit -- the Organic Chemistry, remembering, starting to remember being a mother to Sam and Maddie -- ok, so you've got to trust what we have. You've got to trust what we feel for each other.

Aidan: Well, that's what I've been doing so far.

Maria: Ok, so then why are you doing this now?

Aidan: Because the pressure is not going away, Maureen, and neither are the questions.

Maria: Well, there are always questions when you love someone. There's nothing that I can do. I can't make this simple for you. I wish that I could, but I can't. You can't have it both ways.

Aidan: Oh, you think I want a guarantee?

Maria: Isn't that exactly what you want? I mean, right now you're afraid that as Maureen I'm going to switch back into Maria and then I'm going to choose Edmund, and if I don't do that, then I'm going to -- you know, if I stay Maureen, I'm not going to love you. I mean, this is crazy.

Aidan: You're right. It's lunacy, and it's no way to live.

Maria: So what are you -- what are you saying?

Aidan: I'm saying it's got to stop, because we both can't carry on like this.

Edmund: Maddie? Sweetheart? Don't you think it's time to go?

Maddie: Already?

Edmund: Yeah. Come here for a second. Sit down. You know, I was just wondering, would you like to maybe visit Maureen?

Maddie: I don't think so.

Edmund: Really? You know mommy loves you very much, don't you?

Maddie: I guess, but --

Edmund: You guess, but what?

Maddie: Then why doesn't she love you?

Edmund: You know, sweetheart. You know why. You know, she had that accident.

Maddie: But she's all better now. Why does she like that Aidan more than you, Daddy?

Edmund: I wish I knew, sweetheart. Come here. Oh, I wish I knew.

June: You're a newsmaker as always, Ms. Kane.

Erica: Thank you.

June: I hope you have a bag of Enchantment's samples for me. You know, I'm really looking forward to trying those products.

Erica: Oh, well, certainly. Val will you hand you a bag of our Enchantment products on your way out. But at the moment, June, the only thing you're trying is my patience. Please leave before I lose my temper.

[June chuckles]

June: I'm going. Let's clear out! Oh, and just so you know, we're probably going to run this again at 11:00.

[Erica sighs]

Erica: Val? Can you come in here, please, and bring me a bottle of water. I really need some water. Oh -- on second thought, just let that wait a few minutes, Val. I thought that you left.

Jack: No, no. I still have something that belongs to you.

Mia: You know --

Edmund: Hi.

Mia: Hi. Try not to worry, ok?

Edmund: Oh, yeah.

Mia: I think Maddie will definitely sort this out.

Edmund: I see her trying to make sense of all this stuff, and I just -- I realize how little I can do to help, you know?

Mia: No, that's not true. You can love her, and that's what she and Sammy need right now, and they need your undivided attention, I think.

Edmund: I'm trying to give it to her.

Mia: I know, I know you are, but maybe they don't see it that way. I mean, especially if you're spending time with me.

Edmund: Oh, Mia, no --

Mia: No. I just don't want to make her life any harder.

Edmund: You're not. You know, she's just stubborn like her old man. I mean, you know, she just doesn't want to give up on mar-- no, that's not what I'm --

Mia: Edmund, I understand. But she loves her mom, and so do you. And you can't let go of that, and you shouldn't let go of that. You should be true to your heart.

Maddie: Daddy?

Edmund: Yes, sweetheart.

Maddie: Can we go now?

[Edmund laughs]

Edmund: If you're ready.

Maddie: I'm ready.

Edmund: Ok.

Mia: Ok. I'll get your coats. And listen, you can come back whenever you feel ready, ok?

Maria: That's what you want? You want this -- you want this to be over? You want us to be over?

Aidan: No, that's -- that's the last thing I want.

Maria: Well, Aidan -- I don't know. Maybe -- if you want to bail now, I guess it's good timing because I can't make any plans because I don't know what's going on in my head.

Aidan: Look, Maureen, that's not what I mean. What I'm trying to say is just I've been in love before, and it just suddenly -- it just falls through my fingers, it disappears.

Maria: I know, and I understand that, but -- when you fall in love, those are the chances. That's the chance that you take, isn't it? That one person leaves the other person behind?

Aidan: If all we have is this time --

Maria: Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't --

Aidan: This time right now, then I think we should make the most of it. This time is really precious, and we shouldn't be worrying about what might happen, because if it all comes to an end --

Maria: Ok, don't even talk about it ending. Please don't. You don't understand. This is, like, the beginning for me. I feel like my life is completely starting over for the first time. I love you so much, Aidan. And to tell you the truth, that's the only thing I really do know. You're the only thing that's important to me.

Opal: And then Erica popped up on the screen. Chris couldn't even take his eyes off her. I'm telling you, Myrt, that poor man is just carrying a world of pain.

Myrtle: I know. I saw that.

Opal: And if Erica loves him so much, she wouldn't have gone off and slept with Jack for the bazillionth time.

Myrtle: Jack has never been able to take his eyes off Erica. And for some reason, she will not let him go!

Opal: That's the truth. So I said to Jack, I told him point-blank that he'd better pop the question soon or she's going to be dazzling some new guy and he's going to be left in the wings again.

Myrtle: You told him to propose?

Opal: Well, I encouraged him, yeah, you know, and he didn't need much. He ran right out and bought a diamond the size of Montana, which we all just heard on national network television.

Myrtle: Well, I hope -- I hope she says yes because Erica is no good alone.

Opal: It's not like Chris is going to be taking her back anytime soon. Ooh, the rage in that man. If looks could kill --

Myrtle: And if any woman could drive a man to commit murder, it's our little --

Opal: Myrt! Don't even talk like that.

Myrtle: Well, Chris wouldn't hurt Erica, would he?

Opal: No, no, he wouldn't touch her. I mean, he doesn't even see that what happened was her fault. Of course, that's what makes him so dangerous.

Myrtle: You just said he wouldn't hurt her.

Opal: No, he wouldn't. But she's not the one that he blames.

Myrtle: Darling, I don't quite know what you're saying.

Opal: I am saying that Chris could turn that world of hate on Jackson.

Myrtle: Oh, no.

Agent: And when will you be returning to Pine Valley?

Chris: I'm not sure.

Agent: Shall I make your return flight open-ended?

Chris: Yeah, yeah, that'll be good, thank you.

Agent: Ok, great. Here you go, Mr. Stamp. You'll be boarding in 35 minutes.

Chris: Thank you. Thank you very much.

Agent: Thank you.

Chris: Going someplace, Flanders?

Flanders: Stamp, is that you?

Chris: Yeah, in the flesh.

Flanders: I thought our deal was off.

Chris: Oh, yeah? Why is that?

Flanders: Should we even be talking here? I mean, you're all over the tabloids. Your bust-up with Erica Kane has made you very high profile, and for all I know, you might have people watching you right now.

Chris: I'm watching you, and that's all you got to worry about.

Flanders: Oh, really? Ain't you got enough on your plate?

Chris: You're funny. I cut you slack for a reason. Remember that.

Flanders: So what are you going to do now? You're going to arrest me?

Chris: I say you step out of line and make one phone call, you'll go back into lockup -- for good this time.

Flanders: Ok, so what do you want? I gave you everything I had on Montgomery.

Chris: Yeah, you did. You did. And now you're going to help me with something else. You're going to help me settle a score with someone. Come on. Come on. Come on.

Erica: Tell me something, Jackson.

Jack: Hmm?

Erica: Is this an ultimatum or a proposal?

Jack: A bit of both. I want to get this settled, Erica -- now.

Erica: Oh, I see. Yeah, oh, that is very romantic, Jackson. You make this marriage proposal sound like a business deal. I think a corporate merger would be more glamorous.

Jack: I'm simply asking you to make a decision about your life, about our life together, you and me.

Erica: I wonder what would happen if we did get married, if we took the plunge. I think we'd be in over our heads.

Jack: I Don't.

Erica: You don't think that the magic would go away?

Jack: No, I Don't. I think the magic will always be there because that magic is what we make when you and I are together, just us. And the rest of the world falls away. And we've been making this magic for a long time, Erica. And it is as clear and as beautiful and as eternal as this diamond I'm hoping to slip on your finger. And now it's your turn to speak.

Erica: I don't know what to say.

Jack: Well, if you let your heart speak just for once, you would. Look, Erica, I can give you a million reasons why you and I are destined to spend the rest of our lives together. But if you don't believe that, what's the point?

Erica: Well, Jack, you're not leaving?

Jack: I've asked you to marry me, Erica. I'd like an answer, but I'm not going to beg for one. The next move is yours, sweetheart.

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Edmund: I went out with Mia Saunders a few times, and that's all.

Brooke: Your dates are none of my concern. Got it?

Mia: Do you have a problem with me seeing Edmund?

David: Are you threatening to leave me?

Erica: I don't have time for this right now.

Myrtle: Well, look, sweetheart, you and I are going to talk turkey.
