>> Previously on "All My Children" --

Simone: I feel like I already know everything I need to know about you.

Frank: If you knew everything there was to know about me, you'd probably hate my guts.

David: Everything I've worked so hard for is about to go up in smoke. With you by my side, it doesn't really matter.

Liza: Mia.

[Mia screams]

Anna: Well, it's not much of a kitchen, but it's a lot better than a hotel room.

David: It's a little late for dinner, isn't it?

Anna: Oh, I'm starving. You nervous?

David: Should I be? I've never seen you cook.

Anna: It's takeout, David.

David: Oh. You know, you really should be eating on a regular basis. It's the best way to avoid dizzy spells.

Anna: I know, Doctor. My pockets are full of crackers at all times.

David: And how are your feet?

Anna: I don't know. I can't see them. How do they look?

[David chuckles]

David: Very funny. They are going to swell up. You do know that, don't you?

Anna: Really? I didn't know that. Is there anything else that I couldn't possibly know?

David: Yes, I'm aware that you've been pregnant before.

Anna: Clearly not with a doctor in the house.

David: I'm just trying to be supportive, you know?

Anna: I know you're anxious, but it has nothing to do with the baby.

David: You're right. I am sitting around waiting for the next thing Jackson throws at me. But I'm not nervous.

Anna: Good.

David: Yeah.

Anna: Good. What were you doing up there?

David: Well, I still haven't presented my research for the cardio drug, so --

Anna: You're going ahead with that?

David: Of course I am. What, did you think I was going to drop it?

Anna: Well, it's just that all your privileges were taken away at the hospital.

David: Yeah, but I still have all my data. I'm going to get my research together, you know? It's the only thing that's going to really vindicate me.

Anna: Good. I'm glad you're still doing something that you love.

David: Well, that would be saving lives. This -- you know, this is close, for now.

[Phone rings]

Anna: Oh, that's --

David: Is that yours?

Anna: No, it's mine.

David: Yeah, that's --

Anna: Oh, here.

David: Okay.

Anna: Hello? Oh, yeah, Commissioner. No. I was expecting your call. That's okay. Oh, right. Thank you. Yeah, of course. Oh, no. Yeah, thank you. Bye-bye. That was the commissioner -- about my letter of resignation.

David: Did he accept it?

Anna: With regrets.

David: Any regrets from you?

Anna: No. No, it's what I wanted. I'm no longer chief of police.

Mia: Liza -- you --

Liza: Mia, shh.

Mia: No -- I --

Frank: She's going to have to get prepped for surgery.

Nurse: Okay, I need to clear this room, Dr. Hubbard.

Frank: Yeah.

Nurse: And there's someone at the nurses' station asking for you.

Frank: Okay.

Nurse: I'll handle this.

Frank: All right.

Liza: I'll -- I'll be right outside. She -- she asked for me. She -- she wanted me here. She wanted to ask me a question.

Marian: Jake? How is she?

Jake: They're giving her something to try to control the pain she's in.

Marian: Oh, good. Will she --

Jake: They're going to take her up to the OR in just a few minutes.

Marian: My God. She had such a terrible fall. I guess we have to be grateful that she's even alive.

Jake: If we can't save her --

Marian: Listen to me, Jake. You love her, and she knows that, so she's going to make it. You have to believe that because she is going to make it.

Jake: Thanks, Marian.

Adam: Oh, blast. J.R., I don't know why you've turned your cell phone off, but you picked a lousy time to do it, my friend. So, please, call me back on my cell immediately.

Marian: Was that Stuart, Adam?

Adam: No, no, no, no.

Marian: Could I please use your cell phone?

Adam: You can't use cell phones in the hospital. Use the pay phones.

Marian: You just used your cell phone.

Adam: Mia is not the only crisis I'm dealing with right now. J.R. is gone.

Marian: Gone where?

Adam: Well, if I knew where, then he wouldn't be gone, would he? I have a very strong feeling I have to find him immediately.

Marian: Please -- please don't leave. If anything happens to Mia, I don't think I'm going to be able to handle Liza alone.

Adam: Liza could care less whether I'm here or not.

Marian: Please, Adam. Please, for my sake, don't leave. Stay as long as you can, please.

Adam: All right. I won't go anywhere.

Marian: Okay, thank you.

Maria: I'll get you home --

Edmund: Adam. What's happening? What's wrong?

Adam: What's happened to you?

Edmund: Oh, it's nothing. Somebody -- somebody ill?

Adam: There was an accident at Brooke's fundraiser tonight. Mia, Liza's sister, had a very bad fall.

Maria: Is it serious?

Adam: Yes, I'm afraid it is.

Maria: Well, what about Brooke? Is Brooke okay?

Adam: Yes, Brooke's -- Brooke's okay.

Simone: You called her "Rocky."

Frank: What?

Simone: "Rocky." That's what you called Mia.

Frank: Oh -- yeah, right. I don't -- I'm sorry. I don't -- I don't really remember.

Simone: It was when you were with her before the ambulance came. You -- you said that you just knew her from work, but obviously that wasn't true.

Frank: No. It wasnít.

Simone: So, you're friends, and I can tell that you're very close.

Frank: We were, Simone. That was a really long time ago.

Simone: I saw something now that I hadn't seen before.

Frank: What'd you see?

Simone: You were the first person to go to her after she fell. And the way that you took care of her -- I mean, you didn't hesitate for a second.

Frank: That's just reaction. That's how we're trained. It wasn't anything personal.

Simone: That's what I mean. I saw for the first time that you really are a born doctor.

Liza: You really should try to rest. We can talk when you're stronger.

Mia: I can -- I think I can do it now. Maybe later I won't --

Liza: No. No.

Mia: I -- if I can't --

Liza: No --

Mia: If -- if I can't, I have to ask you a question. It's very, very important. I have to have an answer.

Liza: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Anna: The only thing I regret is that we got that phone call tonight. I don't want anything to spoil our evening.

David: You don't have to hide it from me. I know this is difficult for you.

Anna: It's not difficult. I handed in my resignation, David.

David: Because of me.

Anna: It's because of us. I want to make a go of this -- you, me, and the baby.

David: I'm not sure that being a full-time mother is going to be enough for you, Anna.

Anna: I never said that. No. I mean, anyone who is strong or brave enough to be a full-time mom is a much better person than I am.

David: All right, so what do you have in mind?

Anna: What I thought is maybe I would just take an extended maternity leave and then look around.

David: With your resume, I'm sure you can do surveillance work.

Anna: I thought maybe private detective. You know, Tad used to be a P.I. here.

David: Is that supposed to be a recommendation?

Anna: Well, he just -- he mentioned that he might like to get back into it, and I thought maybe I could beat him to the punch. Or we could be partners, you know, him and I.

David: That's very cute. Look, I want you to do what you love doing. You know, you've sacrificed enough for me.

Anna: It's not for you. It's for the child. I think that the baby needs to come first.

David: Well, you have no argument from me. Your opinion I value more than anything -- you and this baby. So you don't hate me?

Anna: We don't hate you.

David: Listen to me. When you're ready to go back to work, we don't have to stay in this town. You know, we can just go where the job takes us.

Anna: You'd go? You'd leave town?

David: Of course I would. You and this baby are the most important things to me.

Trey: Oh, this feels a lot farther than I thought.

Maggie: Hmm.

Trey: We really are in the middle of nowhere, huh?

Maggie: Yeah, well, I just didn't think that you expected me to be your personal chauffeur.

[Knock on door]

David: Hold on.

Anna: Okay.

David: Ahem. Hey, what -- what are you two doing here?

Maggie: Hi. Well, you'll have to ask him.

Trey: It's really important that I talk to you, David, and the sooner, the better.

Edmund: All right, listen, we're just taking up space here. Why don't we just go, okay?

Maria: Okay. You can always get an update in the morning.

Edmund: Okay.

Maria: You cannot drive --

Reporter: Mr. Grey?

Edmund: I wasn't -- yes?

Reporter: How you feeling?

Edmund: I'm feeling fine, thank you. I'm just about to go home.

Reporter: Good. Before you do, I wonder if you had any comment about the big news at the Brooke English benefit tonight. I notice Mr. Chandler's here. Have you and he had words?

Edmund: This must be a very slow news night.

Reporter: You don't know, do you?

Edmund: Know what?

Reporter: Well, Sir, the big revelation at the party tonight -- that your ex-wife, Brooke English, is having an affair with the very married Adam Chandler.

Frank: You know, earlier when you told me that you thought that I was a good doctor?

Simone: Actually, I said you were a born doctor.

Frank: I can't tell you how much that meant to me.

Simone: The other night when you were keeping your distance from me --

Frank: Yeah.

Simone: You said it was about your workload, and I didn't believe you.

Frank: No --

Simone: Now I -- now I believe that you're telling me the truth.

Frank: Simone, you got to believe me. My distance from you had nothing to do with my relationship with Mia.

Simone: I know.

Frank: That was over a long, long time --

Simone: No, I know that's -- it had to do with your past when you were out of control. I realize that.

Frank: The -- the reason that I didn't tell you was because Mia wanted to keep our past a secret, and I thought that she had a good reason. I myself have things that I don't want to revisit.

Simone: That's the truth for everybody. I won't ask any more.

Frank: If this stays between us, it's something that Mia would really want.

Simone: Of course.

Frank: She's hanging on by a thread, and those vultures are circling. Hey, there's Jake. I'm going to go see if he knows anything new, okay? I'll be right back.

Simone: Okay.

Nurse: I'm sorry. You can't stand there.

Marian: Oh, I'm -- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get in the way. I was -- I was just checking on my daughter.

Nurse: Oh, I see. Well, she's getting ready to go to the O.R.

Marian: Oh, I'm -- thank you very much. See, both those girls in there are mine.

Nurse: I see.

Liza: If I could've prevented this, if I would've just thought more clearly --

Mia: Why do you think it's your fault, Liza? Because it -- it happened at your house?

Liza: No. No --

Mia: How can I blame you for that? You've always made me feel so at home there. I have had nothing but kindness and generosity from you.

Liza: How -- how can I -- how -- how could I see you as anything but? When I look in my daughter's face and I -- I see the way she looks at you, how could I see you as anything but good and how much you love us?

Mia: This has been the best time of my life. I've been so happy. Thank you.

Liza: No. No, no, don't --

Mia: Especially in the last few days. I wanted so badly to tell you. Jake asked me to marry him. I was talking with him on the phone up in the attic when --

Liza: You don't -- you don't remember what happened? Mia? Mia? Mia, open your eyes. Mia, you're going to get married to Jake, and everything is going to be good. Everything's going to be fine. You're going to get strong and you're going to feel so much better.

Mia: Liza?

Liza: What?

Mia: Before your brain surgery, do you remember you asked me to look out for Colby if you didn't make it? Promise me that you'll watch over William.

Liza: You can do that yourself, Mia.

Mia: It's not going to be easy. You'll have to do it from a distance. But if --

Liza: No, you -- you need -- you need to get your strength. You shouldn't be talking to me right now. You should just rest. Okay?

Mia: I know -- I know he has people that love him. But I'm his mother. And I'm the one who loves him the most. If I'm gone and I can't, you -- you have to tell him that. You have to tell my baby that his mother loved him so much. So much.

Anna: Hi.

Maggie: Hi.

Anna: Hi.

Trey: I was looking over the police report about your arrest at the beach, the transcript about your preliminary hearing.

David: You were? Why?

Trey: Well, you're entitled to a vigorous defense. That's our legal system, and I believe in it.

Maggie: Wow. No lightning bolts.

Trey: That's just what I think that Leo would've wanted.

David: So you're an expert on Leo now?

Anna: Why don't you just hear what he has to say?

David: All right, fine. What do you think you have?

Trey: Well, loopholes are my speciality, and I found several.

David: In my case? Well, I already have a really good lawyer.

Trey: I'm better. And I'm willing to assist him -- unofficially, of course. Look, why don't you just take a look at what I found?

David: All right. Going to go take a look at it, and we can run it by him. Come on.

Anna: Hmm.

Maggie: Well, hey, I didn't know you cooked.

Anna: I donít. I'm reheating.

Maggie: Oh. Where's the willow tree?

Anna: Exactly.

Maggie: David and his idea about a perfect family -- you know, fireplace, the whole deal -- well, it seems like you bought into it.

Anna: Don't read too much into this.

Maggie: Well, I don't know. I'm rooting for you two -- you know what? I'm not going to say anything. I don't want to jinx it.

Anna: Okay. Were you at that fundraiser?

Maggie: Oh, the masquerade ball.

Anna: Yeah.

Maggie: Bleh.

Anna: Was it bad?

Maggie: No, it wasn't -- wasn't bad. You know, Bianca and I just sat from afar and watched everything, made fun of everyone, of course. And -- ooh, ooh, Jamie Martin outed his mom's affair with Adam Chandler.

Anna: Oh, you're kidding.

Maggie: Yeah, it was crazy. Oh, it gets even crazier. Liza's sister, Mia, fell out of the third-story window.

Anna: She did not.

Maggie: Yeah.

Anna: Is she all right?

Maggie: I hope so. We left after the ambulance came. But -- will the cops investigate that, or how does it work?

Anna: Oh, I -- that's not my call anymore. But you're all right?

Maggie: Yeah, I'm fine. I'm a little stirred up, but I'm okay.

Anna: Did Kenny buy into it?

David: Well, he did buy into it once Trey told him about some obscure Ohio case law.

Trey: He's booting up his computer right now for an all-nighter.

David: I actually think he was grateful.

Anna: Well, I am. Thanks a lot. You guys want to stay and eat?

Maggie: Oh, I don't want to intrude --

Anna: It's takeout, all right? I didn't touch it. And that just means that we don't have to actually talk to each other.

David: Ha, ha. Well, when you put it that way, how can I not beg you to stay? No, really, I can open a bottle of wine. It'd be nice not to have to drink alone for a change.

Maggie: Well, I'll stay.

David: Good. All right.

Trey: Then, great. That'll give me a chance to give you some more free legal advice.

David: Well, obviously I'd be a fool not to take it.

Trey: I think it'll help your case a lot. And from the looks of it, you won't mind at all.

David: Oh, yeah? And why is that?

Trey: I think you and Anna should get remarried immediately.

David: No way. That's not going to happen.

Maria: I brought the car around.

Edmund: Let's get out of here.

Maria: You ready to go? Okay. You ready? Let's go.

Edmund: Wait for me. Is it true?

Adam: I beg your pardon?

Edmund: You and Brooke. A reporter just asked me. He wanted to know --

Adam: Yes, Edmund, it's true. It was brief. It's over. So if you need any more answers, I suggest you get them from Brooke. She needed someone to comfort her, Edmund. In fact, so did I.

Edmund: Good night.

Adam: Why aren't they taking Mia to the O.R.?

Marian: I don't know. Liza's --

Adam: What's keeping them?

Marian: Liza's been in there talking to her for a long time, Adam.

Adam: I know how hard this must be on Liza. She loves Mia so much.

Liza: I'll do everything -- everything that you ask me to do. I will take care of William, and I will make sure that he doesn't lack for anything, and he will know all about you. But you're going to be able to do all that yourself.

Mia: There's something else.

Liza: What?

Mia: Frank.

Liza: "Frank"?

Mia: Frank Hubbard, the doctor here in -- he's Williamís father.

Liza: Frank -- Angie and Jesseís son?

Mia: Frank doesn't know that we had a son. Jake knows, though, and he decided -- decided that I should tell him. But I didn't get the chance to.

Liza: Well, you will.

Mia: But if not, maybe talk it over with Jake. But you have to decide if you should tell Frank. Just make sure that William doesn't get hurt. Or Frank. I'm trusting you with everything that I'm leaving behind.

Liza: No, don't -- don't talk like that. Mia, you're going to tell Frank, and you can tell William. You're going to be able to do all of that yourself. You have to be here, for me, for my sake. I need you here.

[Monitor flatlines]

Jake: Call a code blue! Get a trauma team in here stat!

Liza: No! No, no, no!

Trey: The fact is I hardly knew Leo. But now that he's gone, I feel like I'm missing someone who I've known my whole life.

David: Yeah. That's how I felt, too.

Maggie: Me, too.

Trey: Well, anyway, that's why I didn't go to the memorial service. All those people there that knew him so well -- I just didn't feel like I have the right to miss him as much as I do.

David: I don't think that's the way it works, Trey. You missed him.

Trey: I should've been there. I owed it to him.

Maggie: Well, it's -- it's getting late. We should probably take off. Thanks for dinner.

Anna: I'm glad we did this. I really am.

David: Yeah, it was great.

Trey: Look, if I said anything out of line about your relationship before --

David: No, donít. It's -- it's all right.

Maggie: Okay. Thanks again.

Anna: You're welcome.

Maggie: We should do this again.

Anna: There's always Thanksgiving.

Maggie: Oh, I don't know. Thanksgiving has never really been a big deal for me.

David: Yeah, not for either of us.

Trey: Hey, why don't -- why don't we try to throw something together at my place, huh?

Maggie: Since when do you cook?

Trey: I defrost.

Anna: We could all bring something. I can bring Aidan.

Trey: Maybe Greenlee will come.

David: Well, I'm not sure she'd be up for it, but I guess we can find out.

Maggie: Well, then, it's a plan.

Anna: Oh, dear Lord.

[Phone rings]

David: Oh, well, that -- I think that's me this time.

Anna: Oh, okay. So drive safe, all right? Nice to see you.

David: It's Kenny. Looks like you lit a fire under him. Hey, Kenny. Uh-huh.

Maggie: Bye.

Anna: Bye.

Trey: Thanks, Anna.

David: Great.

Maggie: Wow. Thanksgiving. I don't know. With those folks, maybe we should hide the knives.

Trey: Oh, come on. I think it's what Leo would want.

Maggie: No, I think Leo just wanted to be with Greenlee.

Trey: I meant for us.

Maggie: Yeah, maybe we do owe it to him. You mind driving -- sorry.

David: Well, that sounds great, Kenny. Just keep me up to speed, all right? Thanks. So, do want me to help you clean up?

Anna: I want you to do it all.

David: Okay.

Anna: And answer me a question -- why are you not going to make an honest woman of me?

Maria: Too strong?

Edmund: Just right.

Maria: Oh, good. So, you want to talk about it?

Edmund: Nope.

Maria: "Nope." So we'll just -- we'll sit, and I will watch you brood over how you drove Brooke into Adam Chandler's arms. And I don't remember the guy, but I don't know -- is that such a terrible place to be?

Edmund: This never would've happened if it hadn't been for -- what happened.

Maria: Yeah.

Edmund: Ahem. I don't want to bother you with this. In fact, I'd rather have you go home now. I have a lot of help here, and I'll be all right.

Maria: Yeah, you will be, because I'm going to make sure you are.

Nurse: You'll have to stand back, Mr. Chandler.

[Monitor flatlines]

Nurse: Only medical staff are allowed inside.

Liza: Oh, my God.

Frank: You're going to have to leave. Jake, you should leave, too.

Jake: Just back off!

Doctor: Clear!

Marian: Mia's going to make it, Liza. Do you hear me? She's going to make it.

Jake: Come back to me, Mia! I love you!

Doctor: Clear!

Jake: You can do it, Mia! Come back to me!

Frank: We lost her.

Jake: Back off! I'm not losing you, Mia! Come back to me!

David: The next time we get married, there aren't going to be any more lies. Okay? No ulterior motives. I want you and our baby to have a happy, stable life with nothing -- nothing hanging over our heads. Now, that's what you really want, right?

Anna: Yeah, it is, but --

David: And when I'm cleared and I can practice medicine again, and when you're able to be chief of police again, then and only then -- you know, when it's about our love and what we share with each other and nothing else. And then, if you still want to marry me, I'm yours. Until then --

Anna: Oh, God.

David: Even though you're my life and I love you with all my heart, will you please not marry me?

[Anna laughs]

Maria: No, I'm not going home. I'm spending the night.

Edmund: There are plenty of rooms.

Maria: Oh, I'm sure there are, but I'm not going to be sleeping. I'm going to stay right here. Figured I would just camp out here on the couch and wait for you to talk. And if you don't, then we'll -- we'll just watch TV and old movies until the sun comes up. I'm patient.

Edmund: Somehow a western never sounded so appealing.

Maria: That's the closest thing you're going to get to a horse right now.

Edmund: I wasn't even thinking of riding.

Maria: No midnight gallops to help you think?

Edmund: No. But you can stay here and make sure if you want.

Maria: Okay.

Edmund: What is it?

Maria: I just -- I mean, it makes me sad that you don't think enough of us or enough of, you know, what's happening with us to talk to me about what's going on with Brooke.

Edmund: You know that's not it.

Maria: Well, what is it, then? That you just like to keep things bottled up? I mean, I have learned that much about you, but the problem is turns out I donít. And after all those years of being quiet and secretive, now I just can't shut up and all I can do is talk about how I feel.

Edmund: Well, I could've told you that.

Maria: Oh, really? Well, I really admire Brooke. She loves Sam and Maddie, and they love her. And you obviously thought a lot of her or you wouldn't have married her.

Edmund: And that's just why I --

Maria: Why what? You can't show me how much you care about what happens to her? How could you not care about what happens to her? It makes me care about you more.

Edmund: You surprise me every time.

Maria: How is that?

Edmund: One minute you're this woman that I know, that I have loved for many years. And then, all of a sudden, you're this brand-new woman who's stealing my heart.

Maria: No, it's still in there. I know. I'm a doctor.

Edmund: Whoever you are, I win.

Maria: Wait. Don't move. Stay right there.

[Monitor flatlines]

Doctor: Clear!

[Heart monitor beeps]

Frank: Jake, you did it, man. She's back.

Jake: But we're not out of the woods yet.

Liza: Oh, thank God. Thank God.

Simone: I'm so proud of you. You saved her life.

Frank: No, it was Jake.

Simone: But you loved her, too.

Adam: Oh, Liza, don't pull away. No, no, don't -- you need to be held right now. Please, that's all it is. It doesn't mean anything else.

Liza: It doesn't.

Adam: Liza, I am so sorry. None of this -- none of this is your fault. You're such a wonderful woman. You're full of love -- love for your sister, love for our child.

Liza: Adam, donít.

Adam: I know it's too late for us right now. Everything that's happened has been my fault. None of it -- none of it has been your fault. And I -- I know I can never make it up to you. But just let me help you right now. Let me help you get through this.

Liza: We wanted to hurt each other, and look how far it's gone. Mia didn't do anything to us. And we did this to her. We put this on her. I mean, because of us, it's -- she's sick. She could die. We did this to her.

Anna: All right. I won't marry you.

[Anna laughs]

David: You've made me such a happy man.

Anna: We won't marry again until it's just for love, right?

David: And it will be. I promise you.

Edmund: Okay, I'm right here. I'm not moving.

Maria: Wait, be quiet, be quiet. I -- I was -- you were sitting right there, I was sitting here, and we were having tea and --

Edmund: When?

Maria: Okay. You were going to New York and I was supposed to go and meet you there, and we were making plans. And --

Edmund: You remember --

Maria: Shh, shh, shh. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Shush. Yes, because I -- Brooke was getting an award, and I had to stay and testify in court against Erica Kane. Is that --

Edmund: That's right.

Maria: I remember thinking to myself that that was -- that I was testifying against Erica and here I was wearing Enchantment perfume. And -- and that was it. I was -- I was sitting right here.

Edmund: Did you hear what you just said? "I remember."

Maria: I do. Edmund, I -- I remember.

Frank: I thought we weren't going to talk about Mia anymore.

Simone: No, I want you to understand that it doesn't matter to me if you and Mia are more than friends. Obviously it does to you.

Frank: "Obviously"?

Simone: Well, that's what were going to tell me at the costume ball, right? That you and Mia had been together?

Man: Would you turn that thing off, please? Come on. Come on.

Woman: Help! Somebody, help!

Man: Come on. Come on, bud, you're going to be all right. Come on.

Woman: Can't you do something?

Man: You're going to be okay.

Woman: Breathe. Breathe!

Man: Open your eyes. Open your eyes! Come on Ė

Frank: Yeah, that's what I was going to tell you.

Simone: Well, now you don't have to. Whatever you've done in your past has made you the person that you are today. So whatever happened back then, I cannot complain.

Adam: Liza, what are you saying? That it's our fault that Mia got hurt? She fell. It was an accident. Wasn't it?

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Maria: I'm going to remember our life together.

Hayley: I got an offer to syndicate my show. I have to move to LA.

Adam: What exactly do you know about Mia's fall?

Jake: I need you to fight hard, Mia. I need you to fight for your life.
