>> Previously on "All My Children" --
Kendall: You can get all the restraining orders you want to, but I will still be your daughter.
Chris: Not so fast.
Jake: Will you marry me?
Mia: Yes. I never imagined that I would have a family of my own. Excuse me.
Liza: If you think you're taking Adam and my child, you better think again.
Aidan: Is there a problem?
Kendall: Look, I already apologized for crashing Erica's designer digs.
Erica: Oh, Chris, please, just let her go. Her sarcasm is really making me sick.
Chris: Kendall's not going anyplace until she forks it over.
Aidan: What is he talking about, Kendall?
Chris: Go on. Show him. Show him!
Aidan: What is this?
Kendall: It's a letter.
Aidan: Well, I can see that, but why did you --
Erica: It's a letter from Ryan. It was addressed to Chris, not you.
Jamie: Get your hands off my mom, you bastard!
Tad: Jamie, what on earth are you doing?
J.R.: Chill, man.
Tad: Come here.
Jamie: Don't -- I'm not the one that's out of line!
Tad: And if that is the case, we'll talk about it later.
Jamie: No, we won't. You'll probably just make up some lame excuse. Besides, why don't you just say something about them? Why don't you admit what you're doing?
Tad: This is not the place to discuss it. Do you understand?
Jamie: Did you see his hands all over Mom? Aren't you -- you're just going to wuss out and let him get away with that?
Adam: Look, son --
Jamie: I'm not your son! I'd rather eat glass than have you as my dad!
Brooke: Jamie, honey, please!
Jamie: Why, Mom? Why are you sleeping with him?
Jake: Listen, if Liza already is on to us, why don't you just clue her in on what's going on, and I'm sure she'd be happy to hear the news.
Mia: No, no, no, no. I want to tell her together. I want to see the look on her face when she realizes that we're actually -- I love you so much.
Liza: Mia --
Mia: Do you want a boy or a girl? Stop it, you're so bad.
Liza: No -- Mia --
Frank: Excuse me! Excuse me! Excuse me! Excuse me! Someone call 911! Tell them we need an ambulance! Just get back --
Adam: Mia --
Frank: Don't touch her! Please, everyone, just move back.
Simone: Is she --
Marian: Oh, my God, Liza, did you see? Mia fell. She fell!
Frank: Tell the EMTs she's in arrest.
Aidan: Kendall, why did you steal this letter?
Kendall: I didn't steal it, I borrowed it.
Erica: Oh, please. Don't try to spin this.
Kendall: What do you know about it?
Erica: When you take something that doesn't belong to you, that's called stealing.
Kendall: I was going to give it back.
Erica: Oh. Oh, so then that makes it all right for you to steal it? And when were you going to give it back? The next time you broke into my apartment?
Aidan: She didn't break in.
Erica: No, that's right -- you let her in without my consent.
Aidan: Right. And it won't happen again. Here's your key.
Chris: Keep it. I'm going to have all the locks changed tomorrow morning, first thing.
Kendall: Like I would ever come back here. This place is a shrine to Erica's ego.
Erica: Kendall, you still haven't answered Aidan's question.
Kendall: I'm out of here.
Erica: Why did you steal Ryan's letter to Chris?
Aidan: There's no need to answer.
Kendall: Thank you.
Aidan: I know why you came here. You came here to search for something to hook you back up with Ryan.
Brooke: We should watch for the ambulance.
Frank: Four and five and six -- come on, Rocky, stay with me here. And seven and eight and nine -- what's the ETA on that ambulance?
Liza: I'll check. Yes, this is Liza Chandler at 300 River Road. Where's the ambulance? Oh, okay, I'll tell Dr. Hubbard.
Adam: Brooke, your getting all upset isn't going to help anything.
Brooke: I knew something was going to happen tonight.
Adam: How could you possibly know that Mia would --
Brooke: I'm talking about Jamie finding out that we were sleeping together.
Tad: Liza? Liza? I'm so sorry about Mia. Are you all right? Listen, I know it's none of my business, but Brooke told me about what happened with Adam. You know, if there's anything I can do --
Adam: They're putting Mia into the ambulance.
Liza: How is she?
Marian: Dr. Hubbard got her heart started.
Liza: How seriously was she hurt?
Marian: We won't know, Darling, till she's checked out at the hospital.
Liza: Well, I'm going to go get out of this dress, and I'll go directly there. Will you go with me, Mother?
Marian: Of course I will.
Adam: Why don't we all go together? I'll drive. Winifred, have you seen J.R.?
Winifred: He's upstairs with Miss Colby. She fell asleep, and she was still wearing her costume.
Liza: The siren and the commotion didn't wake her?
Winifred: No, ma'am. And you know, I thought it was best if I just let her sleep, and then Miss Marian could to take her to the gatehouse.
Liza: Well, then we'll just leave her here since the party's over. But if she wakes up, don't say anything about Mia.
Winifred: No, ma'am.
Liza: And if she asks for me, just tell her --
Winifred: I'll tell her that you love her and that you're going to come in later and give her a good night kiss.
Liza: Thank you, Winifred. I'll be right down.
Jamie: What I don't get is what Mia was doing up in the attic in the first place. Was she high? I mean, you don't just crash through a window.
Marian: Adam, I think I better change, too. I'll only take a couple of minutes.
Adam: All right, we'll meet in the car.
Erica: Aidan, I don't know you very well, but apart from bringing Kendall into my new home, you do seem to be a decent man.
Aidan: Sorry -- what is your point, Ms. Kane?
Erica: Well, I believe that when this penthouse was a work in progress that Kendall tried to seduce you.
Kendall: Aidan and I are way past that.
Erica: Have you forgotten about that, Aidan? How Kendall used you? How she betrayed Ryan with you? How she tried to distract you so that she could bug my apartment?
Kendall: Would you just butt out, okay?
Erica: I would love nothing better than to butt out, believe me. But when you use Aidan to violate my privacy --
Kendall: I don't need to take this from you.
Erica: Aidan, surely you can see that she's using you.
Kendall: Look, I just wanted to find out if Ryan was okay. Do you want to have me drawn and quartered for giving a damn?
Erica: Oh, come on. If that's all you really wanted to know, then why didn't you just ask? Ask Chris?
Kendall: Chris, I'm sorry for stealing your letter. But every time I ask you about Ryan, you just shut me out.
Chris: Yeah, well, I'm just looking out for my son.
Kendall: I'm not some kind of -- I'm not some of kind of stalker. I'm not going to hunt him down. I just want to know if he's happy.
Chris: Ryan is biking cross-country. He likes to keep moving.
Kendall: Well, doesn't he want to settle down someplace, put down some roots?
Chris: He had roots. He had a home, right here in Pine Valley.
Kendall: And then he ditched it all because of me. Chris, if you hear from Ryan, if he calls you and you get to speak to him, can you just please tell him again how sorry I am? And if he ever wants to talk --
Aidan: Kendall, we'd better go. Come on.
Tad: Are you okay? You look like you could use a stiff drink.
Winifred: I'm fine, Mr. Martin. I'm sorry; may I get you something, Sir?
Tad: No. I'm fine. But if it's all the same to you, Brooke and I and my son would like to stick around for a while.
Jamie: Why are we still here? The party's over. I want to get out of this stupid costume.
Tad: No. You don't get to run off and hide until we discuss a couple of things.
Jamie: I want to crash.
Tad: You mean you want to sleep it off.
Jamie: Dad, come --
Tad: How much did you drink?
Jamie: It doesn't --
Tad: Don't lie to me. It must have been a pretty substantial amount, considering you thought if appropriate to mouth off to Adam in front of the entire room.
Jamie: Why pick on me? You've done it a hundred times.
Tad: Wrong! Not in public, not drunk, and never, never disrespecting your mother.
Jamie: Tell me something, Dad. What's so great about this family? What's the charge for being a screwed-up Martin?
Tad: Oh, is that your take on the situation, that we're screwed-up?
Jamie: What planet are you from? We're so out of whack!
Tad: The only thing that's out of whack, Mister, is your behavior. And unless you want to be grounded until you are 30 years old, you will cease and desist.
Brooke: Tad, please --
Tad: Do you understand me?
Brooke: Please. I don't want the two of you fighting. This is my mess.
Jamie: It is your mess. And I'm sick of stepping in it!
Brooke: Jamie, please, I --
Jamie: You going for some kind of record? How many guys are you going to let roll over you before you get a clue?
Tad: That's enough.
Jamie: Your whole life is an endless parade of losers.
Tad: Jamie, I said that's enough!
Jamie: Why do you do it, Mom? Huh? Why do you go out with these guys that treat you like trash? Why can't you be happy?
Frank: Come on, let's go. Clear. Jake, man, we need you. It's Mia! Come on!
Jake: Oh, my God. Frank, what happened to her?
Frank: I don't know. All we know is that she fell out of an attic window over at the Chandlers' place.
Jake: What, you were there?
Frank: I was right there. My first call was a deceleration injury.
Jake: Her heart stopped?
Frank: Yeah, CPR got it going again.
Jake: All right, what about vitals?
Frank: BP keeps bottoming out on us. Her respiration -- we've been holding in steady at 90 palp, but that's with two large bore lines of ringers going all out. Her pulse is 110 with runs of tach, respiration 32.
Jake: All right, she's in shock. There doesn't seem to be any kind of a head trauma. Glasgow Coma Scale?
Jake: Well, did she regain consciousness?
Jake: All right, get her into cube five, right now.
Adam: I'm going to find out what's going on.
Liza: I was so wrong, Mother. I thought that Adam and Mia --
Marian: It's no use talking about it, Liza. We both made a terrible, terrible mistake.
Jake: Darcy, call the blood bank and get three units of P-negative.
Darcy: I'm on it.
Jake: All right, then call upstairs to the OR and tell them that we're going to be sending her up for an exploratory laparotomy just as soon as she's had a CT scan.
Darcy: Okay. What labs do you want on her?
Jake: Don't worry about that right now. Just get on the O-neg.
Frank: Jake, Jake, Jake -- hey, man, check this out.
Jake: Mia? Mia, can you hear me? Mia, open those beautiful eyes and look at me. Mia? Jake: Hey.
Frank: Welcome back, Rocky.
Jake: Hey, don't -- no, no, no, don't even try to move, all right? Don't say anything. You -- you're in the ER There was an accident. Frank tells me that you tried to do a half gainer out of a high window. Your buddy here has been taking really good care of you.
Frank: Hey, beauty. I want you to show off for me a little bit here. Why don't you see if you can move those fingers?
Jake: Don't cry, Sweetheart. We're going to fix you up, and everything is going to turn out just fine. I promise.
Marian: Liza, I'm going to go call Stuart because he should be home from the gallery opening by now. So I won't be long, okay? Darling? You going to be okay? I'll be right back. Just two minutes, Liza. I'll be right back.
Adam: Liza, I just talked with the trauma nurses. Mia's conscious, and she's moving her fingers. Liza, I -- I didn't mean to hurt you with Brooke. It just -- just happened. But it's over.
Brooke: Jamie, I understand why you're upset --
Tad: No, wait a minute. You don't have to justify yourself to anyone --
Brooke: No. My son has the guts to confront me with something that I've been denying myself for years. What's wrong with me? I wish to God I knew.
Jamie: Maybe you should just give it up. Go to work, be a mom, join the PTA. Get a dog if you feel lonely, but don't bring another loser into our lives.
Brooke: I'm so sorry that my life has messed up yours.
Jamie: I don't want an apology, and I'm sorry you're feeling bad. I just want normal. Can we do that?
Brooke: Honey, I'll do whatever you want. Really, I only want what's best for you.
Tad: Jamie, you're old enough to realize the world isn't a perfect place. Things happen, and people make mistakes, including your mother. But that doesn't mean she hasn't loved you with all her heart and soul since the day you were born.
Brooke: Tad, stop, stop. Don't defend me. Yes, I've had some bad luck in my life, but Jamieís right. I've had chance after chance after chance, and I've blown them all. And how can I be a mother to you when I don't seem to even be able to take care of myself?
Tad: What are you saying?
Brooke: I think it would be best if Jamie came to live with you for a while.
Chris: Hmm. You know, I'm sorry. Tonight, with Kendall, you know --
Erica: Oh, Chris, that's not your fault.
Chris: I can't believe that Aidan brought her along.
Erica: Yeah, well, he'll learn, I guess. I guess Kendall will teach him the hard way.
Chris: Ryan never mentions her, not a word.
Erica: Well, that's good. Maybe that means that he's gotten over her.
Chris: Well, she shredded his heart.
Erica: Well, hearts mend. You know they do, Chris. Ryan is going to meet someone. He is going to meet someone who will be worthy of his love.
Chris: I hope so. I -- are you happy?
Erica: Do you have to ask me? Chris, I have you in my life.
Chris: How's your ankle?
Erica: Oh, it's much better.
Chris: Did my kiss before have something to do with it?
Erica: Absolutely. Walking on air.
Chris: Uh-huh. You hungry?
Erica: No, no, not really.
Chris: Well, no, I could whip us up one of my famous, you know, western omelettes. We could sit down, eat --
Erica: Oh, no, just -- you just relax, okay? And I'm fine.
Chris: I wanted -- I wanted tonight to be special. I wanted to give you a preview of what our life together is going to be in our new home. I mean, it's our first night.
Erica: You already have. Everything is perfect. Almost.
Chris: What's missing?
Erica: There's a photo over there. Would you hand it to me?
Chris: That's your mom.
Erica: I know.
Erica: This photo of my mother -- it survived the fire. It had very little smoke damage, very little water damage, and I had it restored.
Chris: Well, then this rates a place of honor.
Erica: That picture of my mother and Biancaís baby shoes are the only things that survived that fire. You know, everything else was destroyed in those ashes.
Chris: Uh -- Jackson called today.
Erica: Oh, really?
Chris: Yeah. The investigation against Trey isn't shaping up so well. It doesn't look like there's going to be enough hard evidence to prosecute him. In fact, he said that the case probably won't hold up in court.
Erica: I see.
Chris: Sweetheart, I -- I need to know something. If Trey gets off scot-free, are you going to be able to live with that, to let it go and move on?
Kendall: Yo, bartender!
Bartender: Well, well. If it ain't my favorite lady wrestler. Where's the other half of your demo crew?
Kendall: Oh, never mind that. Just give me a vodka tonic, light on the tonic, please.
Aidan: I'll have a mineral water, please. Yeah, I'm the designated driver.
Kendall: Honest to God, Aidan, do you always have to be such a flaming boy scout? Come on, life is too short. Live a little. Thank you. Don't worry; I'm not going to start anything.
Aidan: Yeah, well, I think you already have, Kendall. Don't you remember what you said earlier?
Kendall: I'm sure you'll refresh my memory.
Aidan: You said you wanted to get to know me better and check out my handiwork.
Kendall: Yeah, so?
Aidan: So? When you asked me to take you on a tour of Erica Kaneís penthouse, I thought it was to check out all the hard work that I've done.
Kendall: Yeah, and wasn't I impressed?
Aidan: Well, I don't know, really, because when we got there -- we really didn't go there for that, did we? You went there to scope for signs of Ryan.
Kendall: All right. Okay. Erica was right. I'm a lying, manipulating user. I have no conscience, no limit.
Aidan: Look, you could have just told me, okay? You could have just been straight with me.
Kendall: Straight? And told you what? That I've been trying to track down Ryan since the day he rode out of my life? That I -- that that's the only reason I would set foot near Erica's giant penthouse in the sky?
Aidan: Okay, fine. Fine, you win. If you really want to find Ryan, if you really want to see him, I'll help you.
Aidan: If it will make you happy, Kendall, I will help you find Ryan.
Kendall: Aidan, you're volunteering to help me find Ryan?
Aidan: Yep. If it's your mission.
Kendall: Well, do you think you can find him for me?
Aidan: Absolutely. I mean, I was in the Special Services --
Kendall: Well, what kind of services?
Aidan: Well, you know, ferreting out the enemy, recon missions.
Kendall: Well, Ryan's not the enemy.
Aidan: I know. But we would use exactly the same techniques, you know, to track him down.
Kendall: Like what?
Aidan: Well, like electronic surveillance -- you know, tracking his credit card, his cell phone, his ATM activity -- to zero out his location.
Kendall: Then what?
Aidan: Well, then the rest is up to you.
Kendall: Well, this is going to have to be a surprise mission because I'm not on Ryan's wish list anymore.
Aidan: Right. Well, I thought you might want to maybe catch up with the guy and see him face to face and say sorry and explain, you know, what happened.
Kendall: Well, maybe you could help me. Maybe you could -- when you see Ryan, you can explain to him and tell him that what he thought he saw between us -- it wasn't real.
Aidan: Well, it was real to me.
Kendall: Oh, come on, Aidan. I didn't even know you then.
Aidan: Oh, so that makes it okay just to use me, right?
Kendall: I didn't make you do anything you didn't want to do.
Aidan: Like today? Hmm? I should have seen you coming, shouldn't I? Stroking my ego, making me believe that you really give a damn about my work and about me.
Kendall: Look, I don't know what world you live in --
Aidan: Tell me, did you lie to me, yes or no?
Kendall: Yes. Yes, okay, I lied to you. But if I had told you the truth, you wouldn't have helped me.
Aidan: What, on your holy quest to find Ryan Lavery? How do you know that?
Kendall: Why would you?
Aidan: Because you're in love with the guy and I get it?
Kendall: Then why are you hanging around?
Aidan: Because I care about you and I consider us to be friends.
Kendall: Yeah, well, how long will that last?
Aidan: Until you get Ryan Lavery out of your system. Until you look at me like you did at Ryan.
Kendall: And then what?
Aidan: And then we won't be friends anymore because we'll take it to the next level.
Kendall: Yeah, well, what if that doesn't happen?
Aidan: I'll take my chances.
Erica: Chris, you've given me so many gifts. I have you in my life to love and to care for and --
Chris: To fight with?
Erica: No. No, I'm serious. Every day for me -- every day ends in the arms of the man I know loves me beyond reason. And every morning starts the same way. There are no more bad days since you came into my life because I know that you are waiting for me at the end of every single day. And we built this home together. I'd be an absolute fool to look back when I have so much to look forward to.
Chris: Thank you, Sweetheart. Thank you.
Erica: Only you and Bianca are irreplaceable. And you survived. Nothing else matters.
Chris: Not even Trey getting off scot-free?
Erica: I -- look, if Mr. Sheppard is not punished in a court of law, then I have to believe that he will be punished some other way.
Chris: Meaning what? Are you going to do what my Sicilian grandmother used to do? You're going to put a curse on him?
Erica: You know, this is an awfully dark conversation for two people who just moved into their new home.
Chris: Hmm. What could we do to lighten up the moment, he wondered.
Erica: Well, we have waited months and months for this place to be finished.
Erica: I was hoping that we could christen in style -- in bed.
Chris: It wouldn't exactly be our maiden voyage.
Erica: I don't care.
Chris: I'll get the bubbly.
Chris' voice: Erica, I need to know something. If Trey gets away with torching your house, can you live with that, let it go and just move on?
Jamie: That's your answer? Something bad happens, and you kick me out of your life?
Brooke: Jamie, you'll be better off living with your father.
Jamie: Do I get a vote?
Brooke: You need to be in a home that's stable.
Jamie: You need to get your life organized.
Tad: Okay, okay, let's just take it easy. It's been a long evening for everybody. We're all exhausted, and some of us are still working off a pretty substantial buzz, so why don't we just agree that we're going to table this conversation. We'll talk about it later.
Jamie: I'm sick of talking about it. As far as I'm concerned, you both can go to hell!
Tad: Jamie -- you got every right to be angry, even to vent your feelings, but not here, not like this. It's too hard on your mother.
Jamie: Great. Pile on the guilt.
Tad: Come here. We love you. I love you, more than anything. But what you did tonight was wrong. It was cruel. What your mother and I, you, Adam -- what we're working through is very complex. It's going to take time. But if we're going to get through it, if we stand a chance of getting through it, we've got to support each other as a family.
Jamie: I'm sick of feeling like this.
Tad: I know, son. But things will get better, I promise you.
Jamie: How do you know?
Marian: Liza? Darling, back at the house, I saw Mia go upstairs, and you followed her. And after the accident, you came racing down the stairs white as a sheet. Please don't hate me for asking you this, Liza, but you thought Mia and Adam were having an affair. Did things get out of control up there? Did you --
Jake: Mia wants to see you.
Liza: How is she?
Jake: Well, we'll know more after we do the -- get the results back from the C-scan.
Marian: Did she tell you what happened, how she fell?
Jake: No, no, I was hoping that you could fill me in.
Marian: I'm as much in the dark as you are about it.
Jake: I don't get it. I -- we're talking on the phone, and Mia is so happy. We just got engaged, and we're talking about having a baby, and then this happens. I know how you feel about your sister. I'm so sorry, Liza.
Liza: So am I.
Kendall: You seem awfully sure of yourself.
Aidan: That's because we made love.
Kendall: We had a wild romp in the sack.
Aidan: Oh, yeah? It will happen again.
Kendall: In your dreams.
Aidan: Cut the act, Kendall. Come on.
Kendall: What act?
Aidan: This tough girl act, like you're always in control.
Kendall: That's me.
Aidan: I don't think so. I think that is who you pretend to be. But I've seen you, you know, when you let go and your eyes are wide shut.
Kendall: We were talking about Ryan here.
Aidan: Okay, fine, we'll have it your way. You know, we'll just be friends for now. But I want more, a lot more.
Kendall: Well, I wouldn't hold your breath.
Aidan: Well, I've got some tremendous staying power. And you are worth waiting for once you put all this behind you.
Kendall: All what?
Aidan: You know, your past, Ryan, your relationship with Erica --
Kendall: I don't have a relationship with Erica.
Aidan: Yeah, but at the back of your head, you hope. And let me tell you something about lost causes.
Kendall: Why? Are you such an expert?
Aidan: No. But I know one when I see one, and I know that you are not lost. And when the day comes when you grow up and you realize that what it is that you are searching for from Erica that you need so much you don't need because you are fine as you are, I want to be there.
Kendall: Aidan, where are you going?
Aidan: This Boy Scoutís going to get you a drink.
Kendall: Erica. Look, I didn't steal your false eyelashes, so you --
Erica: Yeah, because I don't have any to steal. But meet me at my penthouse first thing in the morning. One thing I do have for you is a proposition.
Chris: [Italian accent] Signorina, signorina, the bubbly cider has arrived. It's fresh. We made it yesterday.
Erica: Do you mind if I make a toast?
Chris: [Normal voice] Oh, please, Sweetheart.
Erica: Here's to tomorrow.
Tad: Son, I don't know exactly how things are going to work out. But try to remember what Dixie said. Sometimes you just have to go on faith.
Jamie: Can we go?
Tad: Sure. Come on. I'll see you in the car.
Brooke: Is everything all right?
Tad: No. But will be. I just made a promise I intend to keep.
Frank: Hi, Mia. The nurse is going to come in a minute and prep you for surgery. Then we're going to wheel you up to OR. They have to go in and stop the bleeding.
>> On the next "All My Children" --
Trey: I think you and Anna should get remarried.
David: No way. That's not going to happen.
Maria: I'm not going home. I'm spending the night.
Jake: Call a code blue! Get a trauma team in here, stat!
Liza: No -- no! No! No!
