Greenlee: I was happy with vanilla till I met you. You're my rocky road, Jake. I don't want to give you up.

Jack: Bianca and Erica are material witnesses to a homicide. There's no way I can leave them alone together.

Hayley: What is going on with you because if you don't tell me, I will find out on my own!

Mateo: I want you to hide and you wait for me.

Hayley: Listen to me. I'm on the phone with the police! Oh -- ah!

Mateo: It's me, it's me, it's me, it's me. It's me. Quiet, quiet.

Hayley: You scared me to death. You scared me to death.

Mateo: You were so smart to come here.

Hayley: What? What? What are you doing? You've got me so jumpy, I didn't even recognize your voice.

Mateo: I don't think anyone can hear us here.

Hayley: What are you talking about? You hissed at me at S.O.S. to go someplace safe, to go someplace safe with no mention of why or what's going on.

Mateo: I'm trying to play this smart.

Hayley: Well, then, fill me in!

Mateo: That's better, right?

Hayley: No. The fact that you lit a few candles doesn't make me feel any less in the dark.

Mateo: Look, I've been busy, all right?

Hayley: With what? Or should I say with whom? And don't lie to me, Mateo. Please don't lie to me. Are you having an affair?

Mateo: It's worse. Much worse.

Leo: Bianca was just so pale when I found her; I thought for sure she was dead.

Greenlee: It's a wonder she isn't dead. And if Bianca wanted to work out some kinks, whatever happened to spinning or yoga? I mean, what demento perches on top of 1,000 pounds of horseflesh and gallops through the woods in the middle of the night?

Leo: Yeah. Wonder if she heard about Frankie, and that's why she did all this. You think?

Vanessa: Oh, Leo! Thank heavens you're here. Is this true? I mean, poor Mary Frances -- is she really dead?

Leo: Yeah.

Greenlee: Extremely.

Vanessa: Oh, dear Lord. This is -- that poor misguided child. I mean, this is tragic.

Leo: Mother, save --

Vanessa: Tragic --

Leo: Save the high drama --

Vanessa: No, no, her whole life ahead of her, all gone.

Leo: Save the high drama for Aunt Gwynnie, okay? I called you over here so that you could contact her.

Vanessa: All right. For your information, I did try to call her. She's off gallivanting somewhere. It is not the kind of message one leaves on a machine.

Greenlee: Not if one ever wants one's sister to speak to one again.

Vanessa: Okay, Gwynneth and I aren't close, but -- look, I'm not a hateful, vengeful person.

Leo: Mother, I don't know if you know this, but Frankie's dead. We found out that she was murdered, so please just save the standup routine for another -- we're busy.

Vanessa: Wait a minute. Leo, I heard you brought Bianca in.

Leo: Yeah.

Vanessa: Are these two incidents connected in any way, Frankie's, Bianca's? What --

Leo: Yeah. Yeah, Bianca's horse shot your niece and then threw Bianca hoping to kill her, too. Call me later. Let me know what's up. Jake, how's she doing?

Jake: She regained consciousness.

Leo: Can I go see her?

Jake: Well, Erica and Jack are in there right now.

Leo: Fine, I can wait.

Jake: Listen, why don't you two just go home, come back and see Bianca tomorrow?

Leo: Come on.

Greenlee: Jake can't kick us out if you want to stay.

Leo: What I want is to start a new life, okay? Are you coming? All right.

Erica: Oh, Bianca. Oh, my sweet, sweet baby. You're all right. Do you know who I am?

Bianca: Mom.

Erica: Shh. Just don't even say a word, honey. You just lie there now. You just lie there and rest. Everything's going to work out. Oh, your Uncle Jack and Chris and I, we're -- we're so relieved that you're okay. Bianca, I'm so sorry to have to tell you this, honey. But, sweetheart, Frankie is dead. I'm so sorry. I know it's just horrible and it's -- it's just completely unspeakable. But we're going to get through this, honey. Whatever you want, whatever you need, I will get for you, I will do for you. Do you understand me? Do you? Because the best thing for you to do right now is you just lie here and rest, honey. You rest. You just recoup your strength.

Bianca: Frankie?

Erica: Bianca, you are such a wonderful, wonderful girl, and you have your whole, brilliant life ahead of you. Please don't let this tragic accident rob you of your life.

Bianca: Frankie's dead?

Jack: Yes, honey, she is, I'm sorry to say. Can you tell us anything about that?

Erica: Don't you dare say another word.

Vanessa: Well, what a pity we mere mortals aren't schooled in the fine art of bedside manner.

Jake: Pardon me?

Vanessa: Well, I mean, you doctors seem to have quite a -- quite a gift for reassuring one and -- regardless of the circumstances. I mean, it's a -- it's quite a blend of your strength and information and compassion.

Jake: Well, we do what we can.

Vanessa: Yes, well, you know, it's fallen on me to inform Mary Frances' mother of her death. It --

Jake: Vanessa, Frankie's mother is your sister, isn't she?

Vanessa: Yes.

Jake: Okay.

Vanessa: Yes, of course, but the point is, you see, how can I soften the impact? I mean, I have absolutely no insight into the crime at all. I mean, do you know anything that might give her some solace out of this? I mean, are there any suspects, any clues that might lead to an arrest or --

Jake: I think you need to talk with the district attorney.

Vanessa: Yes, Jackson Montgomery, but you just said he was in with Bianca. If he's in with Bianca and Erica, I'm sure he has his hands full. Anyway, what's the connection between Bianca and my niece's death? I mean, do you know at all?

Jake: Vanessa, I am not the liaison between the police department and City Hall. You can ask someone else.

Vanessa: So much for bedside manner.

Jack: Erica, do not interfere.

Erica: I was talking to you, not to Bianca.

Jack: To me?

Erica: My daughter no sooner regains consciousness, receives this shattering news, but you start grilling her?

Jack: Grilling -- would you please give me a little credit?

Erica: Look; my daughter's physical and emotional well-being takes precedence over everything, including your political agenda! It is way too soon for questioning.

Bianca: Frankie.

Erica: Bianca. Sweetheart. Honey. Oh, honey. Frankie -- Frankie is gone. And I'm sure that it was just a terrible accident. And you know what I think? I think maybe it had something to do with that boy she was with -- maybe something he said, maybe something she did.

Bianca: Boy?

Erica: Yeah. Yes, the boy she was with. Maybe they fought. Maybe they really fought.

Bianca: God, I don't remember. I don't remember.

Erica: You don't? Well, maybe -- maybe when you get stronger, then maybe it will come back to you. But in the meantime, what you have to do, you just -- you just have to accept that it's -- it's over and you just put it behind you, Honey. Oh, Sweetheart, you'll never know how I regret that I was right about Frankie.

Jack: Okay, okay, okay. Erica, I want you out of here.

Erica: No, Jack. My daughter needs me.

Jack: No, not right now. She does not.

Bianca: Uncle Jack, please take her out of here.

Chris: Erica, Erica? Maybe it would be better for now -- just for now.

Erica: Bianca? But, Bianca, no, no! Bianca. How dare you. How dare you tear me away from my daughter.

Chris: Erica, Bianca is distraught right now.

Erica: Yes, she is and that's exactly why I'm going back in there. Jackson, you have no right to do this.

Jack: Erica, listen to me. Bianca has had a concussion. I would like all relevant memories of this event to come back to her.

Erica: Well, what do you think I want?

Jack: I want them to come back to her naturally, when she's ready, without any outside influence.

Erica: Are you implying that I'm guilty of something?

Jack: What I'm saying is that I don't want a witness whose memories have been tampered with.

Erica: The witness is my daughter!

Jack: Well, I'm afraid at this point, that relationship is immaterial.

Erica: Oh, I see -- it's immaterial. We don't matter to you anymore. You are no longer my friend; you are no longer my daughter's loving uncle. No, you are just simply Jackson Montgomery, cutthroat D.A., lusting after somebody to prosecute!

Jack: You listen to me. I work for all the people of Pine Valley, Erica, not just an elite few, and I'm presuming that those people would like whoever murdered Frankie Stone to be brought to justice. Now, do you?

Erica: Of course I do! What an absurd question.

Jack: Is it?

Chris: Look; this is neither the time nor the place for cross-examination. Erica is not on the witness stand.

Jack: No, not yet she isnít.

Erica: Are you implying that I am somehow involved with this girl's shooting?

Chris: Erica, that is enough! Now, Mr. District Attorney, I -- I suggest you back off.

Greenlee: We're not starting a new life in the condo you and Laura shared.

Leo: No, we're grabbing my stuff so I can get the hell out of this condo.

Greenlee: Leo, is something wrong?

Leo: Uh -- well, the short list is my cousin was just gunned down, my best friend is nearly killed falling off a horse, and I just wasted the last, I don't know, five or six months in a marriage with the wrong person. You tell me.

Greenlee: It's not like you gave Laura the best years of your life.

Leo: Well, still, Greenlee, it was -- let's be honest -- it was too much. I mean, it's not like they give you a contract when you're born that says, "Leo, you get 80 years" -- no. I mean, we could die today. We could die next week. Who knows?

Greenlee: Could you be slightly more optimistic, please?

Leo: My point is that every second, every breath you take is precious. It's even more so when I'm with you, Greenlee. It's not like we're guaranteed life or happiness or anything else.

Greenlee: You and I have both.

Leo: Yes, we do. And we're going to grab every second. I swear to you, Greenlee, I am never going to take you for granted ever again in my whole life, I swear to you.

Greenlee: No one's ever loved me like you do. You want to be with me.

Leo: More than anything.

Greenlee: So let's get packing. I'll gather up all your yummy cashmere sweaters and silk shirts.

Leo: All right.

Greenlee: Where are your Italian loafers?

Leo: Uh -- in the hall closet. Grab all the -- the tree shoe things, whatever. What the hell is this? It's no wonder why everything got so screwed up.

Hayley: Worse than a total betrayal of the baby and me? What could that be?

Mateo: I would never cheat on you. I would sooner end my own life. But there are certain things that you can't know.

Hayley: Why? Because if I find out, it'll ruin our lives? Mateo, it is not just us anymore. We have the baby to think about.

Mateo: All the more reason to keep my mouth shut.

Hayley: No! No, Mateo. No. We have to let each other in on things, 100%. If we don't, we might as well just pack it in.

Mateo: Don't you see? If I tell you, I'm going to put you and Lorenzo in more danger.

Hayley: Mateo, you and I will protect our baby. We are better together, fighting side by side. Damn it, Mateo! If the roles were reversed, what would you expect of me? No, no, no -- what would you demand of me?

Mateo: Total honesty.

Hayley: Well, then, bring it on. Tell me, please. Whatever we are in, we are in together.

Mateo: We're up to our necks this time.

Hayley: Well, then, fine. Tell me what it is because the sooner you tell me, the sooner we can start digging our way out.

Jack: Look, it's just this simple -- I don't want Erica alone with Bianca.

Chris: Until Bianca's been deposed.

Jack: Yes.

Chris: We know -- you've already painted us that picture.

Jack: Good.

Opal: Oh, ye Gods and little fishes, what is this burg coming to? I mean, I come home from my Mahjong tournament and the place is crawling with Pine Valley's finest. The yellow tape is criss-crossing every which way. I'm living in a crime scene!

Erica: Opal, we know.

Opal: Oh, my Lord! I just can't believe it. I mean, little -- little Frankie is -- she's -- she's dead! Poor Bianca! I mean, what -- how is she doing?

Erica: Well, maybe you could convince Jackson to let me go in there and find out.

Opal: Well, what do you mean? Go in where? Where is she?

Erica: In there. She's right in there --

Opal: What?

Erica: But Jackson has banished me from my daughter's bedside.

Jack: Erica, please, please don't start up with this again, please.

Chris: On that, we agree. Erica, just let it lie. Please.

Erica: But Bianca was riding tonight at Wildwind and she was thrown and then Leo brought her here with a concussion.

Opal: Oh -- oh, no. This is just awful.

Erica: And out of some misguided sense of public service, Jackson seems to think that justice is better served by keeping me from her.

Jack: Opal, they are witnesses, and I cannot afford for Erica or anyone else, for that matter, to influence Bianca's memories of this event.

Erica: There, you see he's impossible.

Opal: For pity's sake, a mother's love takes precedence over any judicial hoo-hah.

Jack: Well, not according to my official judicial hoo-hah rulebook. You stay away from her. I mean it. Hey.

Opal: Well, how bad off is Bianca?

Erica: Well, she's conscious, but I do think she has some memory loss.

Opal: Oh, my goodness. Well, thank the powers that be that Petey went on a sleepover right from school today. At least I don't have to explain this to him until tomorrow.

Erica: Well, I hope you're better at explaining to him than I was to Bianca.

Jack: Okay, I'll follow up on this with Ms. Kane.

Man: Did we fill in any of the gaps?

Jack: It seems as though there was a boy with Frankie Stone before she died. Evidently Bianca Montgomery walked in on them.

Man: I'll try to go for an I.D. on the boy, get a description.

Jack: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Miguel, if you would, take it a little easy on her, okay? I mean, not because she's my niece, just because the poor girl's been through a hell of a lot, okay?

Miguel: Is there something else I should know?

Jack: Maybe. I suspect that her mother's running interference for her. Now, one explanation could be maternal concern, but --

Miguel: But you have another.

Jack: I'll let you know if anything comes up, okay? Right now, if you'd just do me the favor of monitoring Biancaís progress, okay?

Miguel: Okay. And when she's able, we'll chat.

Jack: Thanks. Thanks, Detective.

Erica: Finally, you've changed your mind. You'll let me see her?

Jack: Not yet. Erica, what I need for you to do is to come downtown and answer some questions for me.

Erica: Oh, you can't be serious.

Jack: Yes, I am. Look, why don't you just get it out of the way? That way, when Bianca is ready for you, you don't have it hanging over your head.

Erica: Jackson, I can't leave!

Chris: No, it's okay. It shouldn't take that long.

Opal: Jackson -- I mean, really. Are you telling me that you can't delay playing 20 questions with Erica for a day or so?

Jack: Opal, this is a murder investigation, not a game show.

Opal: Oh.

Jack: And by the way, you might want your lawyer there to accompany you.

Erica: How can I leave her?

Chris: It's okay. I'll stay in contact with the hospital.

Erica: But she needs me.

Chris: I know. So we'll go down to the station, you'll give them your statement, and then you'll be free to leave, Erica.

Erica: But then I should be free to stay here.

Chris: Yes, but you told Jackson that you wanted to see Frankie's murderer caught, didn't you?

Erica: Yes, yes.

Chris: Okay, then cooperating is the best way to show it.

Erica: But I can't leave her.

Opal: Honey, I'll be here. I'm not going anyplace. I'll take good care of her. She'll be as safe as if she was in your arms. Really.

Erica: Oh. Okay, Opal. Thank you.

Opal: Yeah.

Erica: Thank you, Opal. Thank you.

Opal: Of course.

Erica: All right.

Erica: Oh --

Chris: It's okay. I've got your back.

Erica: Oh. I think I'm going to need a little bit more than company.

Chris: Hey, don't worry about a thing. I'll take care of you.

Erica: All right. I think that I can do this now.

Chris: All right. Let's go.

Erica: Okay.

Leo: I didn't know Laura had this.

Greenlee: I already read your heartfelt good-bye letter to Laura. You tore it out of my hands and then tore it up, remember? Who did the glue job?

Leo: Well, obviously, Laura. I thought this was gone. I thought it was in the garbage.

Greenlee: Yeah. It was. You threw it away at the hospital.

Leo: I did twice. It's not even what I wrote. Look, "I'm leaving you for Greenlee"? No, I said, "Please don't think I'm leaving you for Greenlee." She must've pulled this out of the garbage and put it together like this.

Greenlee: So Laura thought you were dumping her to be with me.

Leo: Oh, my -- this must be why she went so crazy.

Greenlee: That still doesn't excuse her loony tune antics. I mean, we're lucky she didn't chain you to a pit out in the woods somewhere.

Leo: Yeah, well, this place was cold and damp enough -- believe me. No, I cannot believe that I actually fell for all those lies. Greenlee, I'm going to pay back all the debt that I owe to Brooke. And I'm just going to forget that everything that happened here never -- never happened.

Greenlee: Then what?

Leo: Then we're going to take off. Okay? We're going to go to every country, every city that we ever wanted to go. We're going to eat every food, we're going to smell every flower, we're going to take in every delight that life has to offer.

Greenlee: Hmm. Where will we start?

Leo: It doesn't matter. We'll flip a coin. We'll -- we'll throw a dart at a map. We don't need schedules, we don't need itineraries, we don't need anything. Greenlee, you make my life make sense. You make me feel so alive.

[Door opens]

Leo: Hey.

Mateo: You don't understand -- I so much as cough, the next time Proteus would call, he'd ask me how my cold was. He's got eyes and ears everywhere.

Hayley: Well armed, dangerous flunkies.

Mateo: Well, this is what I got my family into. Do you hate me?

Hayley: Sweetheart, I could never hate you. You were systematically targeted and trapped and your only crime has been trying to keep us safe.

Mateo: You know, I didn't tell you for another reason -- I was -- I was scared to tell you.

Hayley: You were scared I was going to beat you up?

Mateo: No. You know, after you had the baby, having Lorenzo, like, rehashed some issues for you.

Hayley: You mean I revisited my mother's lack of a maternal instinct?

Mateo: Yeah. But now, it's clear to you and the rest of the world that you're the most amazing mother. I mean, I have got the best family anyone's ever been blessed with.

Hayley: We are blessed.

Erica: Listen, please don't leave me.

Chris: I wonít.

Guard: The D.A.'s waiting for you. Right through there.

Chris: Thank you.

Jack: Thanks for being so prompt.

Chris: Mind if we sit?

Jack: Go ahead.

Chris: You have questions, Montgomery? Ask them.

Jack: What I've got here is a forensics report, and in it it states that the gun that you turned over to the police, Erica, is not the gun that killed Mary Frances Stone.

Erica: Are you sure?

Jack: They seem to be sure.

Erica: I really don't know even how that would be possible. I mean, I'm sure that your lab knows their business.

Jack: They're very good.

Chris: Is there anything interesting we should know in that report?

Jack: Well, yes, there is this one item. Evidently, the bullet recovered from Frankie Stone is the same caliber as a handgun that is registered to you, Mr. Stamp. Do you find that interesting?

Vanessa: Oh!

Opal: Oh, stay away from that door.

Vanessa: Opal! For Peteís sakes. Why don't you pop in your own salon and have those talons of yours filed down? They're like needles.

Opal: Oh, all the better to scratch your eyes out with, my dear.

Vanessa: Just forgive me if I'm not in a particularly combative mood. I've just had a very serious loss.

Opal: Oh, yes, I know. You who couldn't give a flying fig for Frankie when she was alive. You can just turn off those crocodile tears around me.

Vanessa: I'll have you know that the very first thing I -- I thought of when I heard about Mary Frances' death was the hell that Bianca might be going through because she happens to be a very tender-hearted young thing, and I was going to find out how she's doing.

Opal: You who devours tender hearts for breakfast? You won't be getting anywhere near Bianca -- okay? -- Unless you want to go through me.

Vanessa: Oh, what a horrifying thought.

Opal: Why don't you just bring it on, huh? Make my day.

Vanessa: All right. All right, look. I was hoping that possibly Bianca could shed some light on Mary Frances, my niece's, death, but maybe I should just look no farther than the resume of one Erica Kane for enlightenment.

Opal: You stop right there, sister. What do you -- you are about to besmirch my very best friend.

Vanessa: Did I misunderstand? Hasn't Erica attempted murder before?

Opal: You just better run on out of here, sister, before I scratch that homicidal itch you're giving me. Now beat it.

Vanessa: Oh --

Opal: Beat it! That crafty sow! Oh. Oh, hi there, Detective. You're back.

Miguel: Yes, I'm just checking on Ms. Montgomery. No one's supposed to be talking with the kid until Jack or I do.

Opal: Well, not even me? I mean, just think, you know, she could be in there crying her heart out thinking she's all alone and unloved. She just lost her -- her friend, and then jack dragged her mama off to the hoosegow.

Miguel: For questioning, is all.

Opal: Well, but she doesn't know that. She's going to be frightened to death. You know, you'll get your story out of her a whole lot faster if you let me, you know, soothe her nerves a little.

Miguel: You do make sense, Opal.

Opal: Well, thank you very kindly.

Miguel: You can see her as long as I'm present.

Opal: All right. No problemo. Let's go.

Opal: How are you doing, Sweetie?

Bianca: I don't remember anything. I can't remember anything!

Opal: Oh, Honey, it's okay. It's all right.

Bianca: No, it's not okay. It's not okay. She's dead. Opal, Frankie's dead.

Jack: Would you please accompany Mr. Stamp to his vehicle so he might retrieve his weapon for us?

Officer: Yes, Sir.

Chris: What's the hurry?

Jack: Do I need to get a warrant?

Chris: I doubt if you'd find any judge to give you one. But just to show you that I'm a -- I'm a nice guy and I'll save you the time for looking. My gun is missing.

Jack: And this is something that you just discovered?

Chris: Yeah, as a matter of fact, I -- I discovered that as we were driving over here. I checked the glove compartment and that's my backup gun that is missing.

Jack: Well, now, that's damn inconvenient -- for us.

Chris: You don't see me doing back flips, do you?

Jack: I presume that while you're here at the police station, you'll file a missing weapons report?

Chris: It's my duty as a law enforcement officer, also as a law-abiding citizen to do so and I will.

Jack: Well, now to hear stuff like that does my heart good. Tell me, who besides yourself has the keys to this car?

Chris: You know, you're fixated on my gun when there are hundreds of registered and unregistered guns in the state of Pennsylvania.

Jack: Mr. Stamp, who else has the keys?

Erica: I do. I have the only other keys.

Laura: Good thing I walked in when I did. I'd hate to have to interrupt you in the act.

Greenlee: Hmm. We weren't about to do the deed, Laura. Not that you'd recognize genuine lovemaking.

Leo: Look; we just came by to pick up some of our things.

Laura: Yeah. Of course I knew you'd have to do that eventually. I just never expected I'd have to watch.

Greenlee: You could catch a movie. Something P.G. and upbeat.

Laura: Your stupid remarks and insults can't hurt me, Greenlee. I've been thrashed nationwide on a lousy video show.

Greenlee: No one with an I.Q. over 80 watches that trash.

Laura: Leo, you're smart. Don't let her fool you.

Leo: Let's just not make this any worse than it already is, okay?

Laura: No, no, Leo, you have no idea.

Leo: Laura, what is it? Laura, what's wrong?

Greenlee: No, don't waste your pity on her pathetic bid for sympathy and attention.

Laura: You bitch!

Leo: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! Laura, Greenlee, come on! Laura, we made a lot of progress back at the hospital. Don't let this set us back.

Laura: She started it.

Greenlee: I merely pointed out the obvious.

Leo: You guys, please, let's stop the blame fest. We're all responsible.

Greenlee: I was --

Leo: Greenlee!

Greenlee: I was --

Leo: Greenlee!

Greenlee: Okay. If it gets us out of here, okay.

Leo: Laura, I fully acknowledge my responsibility for this.

Laura: You're such an innocent, Leo.

Greenlee: Come again?

Laura: You can't even conceive what Greenlee's capable of.

Leo: Laura, please. Just -- just -- just drop this.

Laura: No, Leo. You don't trust me, but I loved you.

Greenlee: Hello? Unhealthy obsession?

Laura: No, I loved you, Leo.

Greenlee: Pawn those wedding gifts and use the cash for intensive therapy, please.

Laura: You think she's funny, but she's just being cruel. You believe her because you love her. I've made that mistake. She's deceiving you.

Greenlee: Ah. Ah, accusing me of a crime, commonly known as projecting in head-shrinking parlance.

Laura: No, eventually you're going to see the truth and you'll see Greenlee for what she is.

Leo: Laura, you have to let this go. Please, we all just have to move on.

Laura: No.

Leo: Yes.

Laura: You're wrong. See, I know something you don't know, something your precious Greenlee has neglected to tell you.

Mateo: Well, there's no reason for you to be jealous of Simone anymore.

Hayley: Yeah, the heck there isnít. So she's working with you with this Proteus angle? All right. Well, that's yesterday's news. Where do we go from here?

Mateo: Well, I'm making some contacts and inroads. There are some routes that Proteus is very familiar with.

Hayley: Well, our aim is to get you out of his little organization before you get killed.

Mateo: I got him hooked. I mean, he believes every -- everything's calm right now. There's no rush.

Hayley: Everything's calm except your wife.

Mateo: I'm doing a good job for him. He -- I mean -- he's happy.

Hayley: I'm not happy. I'm not happy, Mateo. Get out now.

Mateo: Hayley, if he was taking resignations, I wouldn't be here. But there's one thing I did learn from our little encounter.

Hayley: What's that? You know, Mateo, I would have been a lot happier if your little encounter included you seeing his face. You could I.D. him and have him thrown in jail.

Mateo: Hayley, he enjoys playing God.

Hayley: Yeah.

Mateo: Yeah. He's, like, personally challenged by transforming us mere mortals. I mean, if you're an upstanding citizen, he wants to break you. He wants to take you over to the other side of the law.

Hayley: Yeah, he's on a power trip. What else?

Mateo: I learned that I can win this. I can take him down.

Officer: Like the man said, glove compartment's empty.

Jack: So, the gun, if it was in fact kept there, may or may not be missing.

Chris: Are you doubting me, Jackson?

Jack: Thanks, Ted.

Chris: Well, I guess we can go. You haven't got enough to hold my client.

Jack: Well, I'll tell you what I've got. I've got a mess, a real mess, and your client is right in the middle of it.

Erica: Are you going to arrest me? I would like to speak to my lawyer privately.

Erica: I did the right thing, Chris.

Chris: You know I love you, Erica. I love you, and I'll do the best I can to get you out of this, but -- but you got to want me to help you. Do you?

Jack: Look, ask Mel to run that through the computer and give me the printout when he has it. Thanks.

Vanessa: Mr. Montgomery, I believe that I can help you find out who murdered my niece. In fact, I know who did it.

Erica: You ask me the strangest things. Of course, I know that you'll help me.

Chris: Then you got to stop lying. Right now. And maybe, just maybe, I can get you out of this.

Mateo: Okay, so it's more than just a power trip for him. I mean, he's got, like, this sick need to break people and, I don't know, train them.

Hayley: Well, he's evil and twisted and so he's not to be trifled with, which is why I really hate seeing your relentless crusader look on your face.

Mateo: Hayley, that's his weakness. He truly believes that he can train anyone to do anything. And I'm going to be the best lieutenant he's ever drafted.

Hayley: So -- so what -- he is on an ego trip and --

Mateo: He's going to believe the conversion. But the tricky part is in order for him to believe that I've gone over to the dark side --

Hayley: Everybody in town has to believe it.

Mateo: Yeah. I love you.

Hayley: I love you. Which is why this is going to be all that much more difficult.

Mateo: But it's going to be worth it.

Greenlee: Delusional -- another shrink concept you should explore, Laura. I'll start with your sweaters.

Laura: No, no. Disillusioned -- that's what Leo will be once he finds out your secret.

Leo: Laura, please, don't make things worse.

Laura: No. I couldn't. Greenlee's got that covered. If Leo trusts you to love him and only him, he's making the biggest mistake of his life. True or false, Greenlee?

Jack: Mrs. Cortlandt, I will gladly accept any and all tips as long as they're genuine, but I will not act upon unfounded rumors.

Vanessa: Well, I was there, Mr. Montgomery.

Jack: You were where? With your niece?

Vanessa: I was present and -- and Chris Stamp was as well -- with Erica Kane when she received a phone call from Mary Frances telling her that Bianca had discovered her in bed with a boy and had run out hysterically. And Erica became absolutely livid in defense of her daughter, and that's when it happened.

Jack: When what happened, Mrs. Cortlandt?

Vanessa: Erica Kane said that she would kill Mary Frances.

Erica: Why would I lie to you?

Chris: Force of habit. Look, you know, I get it. I get it that you're trying to protect Bianca.

Erica: Bianca?

Chris: Yeah. Now don't play dumb. Look, if we don't approach this as a team, as equals, then you don't have a prayer. Now, we both know how many sets of keys there are to the limos. There's yours, there's mine, and there's Biancaís. Now, who else had motive, opportunity, and the means to shoot Frankie?

Erica: I did. I killed her.

>> On the next "All My Children" --

J.R.: Mama's right. It's late for you and for anything you have to say.

Miguel: You going to give Ms. Kane a heads-up?

Jack: Warn her that we're going to search her premises? No.

Chris: You're telling me that this was premeditated.

Laura: She's already looking over your shoulder.

Leo: At who?

Laura: Jake.
