Chill Out Scooby-Doo!

 Chill Out Scooby-Doo  (DVD)

  Review by Minal 10/16/07

"Chill Out: Scooby Doo" follows the successful formula of the Scooby Doo franchise - a crazy caper, snappy tunes during chase scenes, and Scooby Doo and Shaggy's never-ending quest for their next meal. And of course, Fred, Daphne and Velma are on hand to unmask the villain.

In this particular adventure, Shaggy and Scooby have been tricked into being bait by Monsieur Alfonse La Fleur, who, incidentally, is voice by the amazing René Auberjonois. The Mystery, Inc. gang end up in the Himalayas where they come face to face with none other than the Abominable Snowman.

The cast of new characters include a greedy professor who's searching for Shangri-La, a mystical llama, and a mountain guide and his annoying younger sister. Also, the reappearance of Del Chillman as a radio DJ/weatherman pays tribute to Casey Kasem's legendary radio career. It's also a nice nod to Kasem's 20-plus-year history of doing many of the voices for the Scooby Doo characters.

All in all, this was one of the best Scooby Doo movies made. It's fun, moves along quickly, and the music really syncs well with what's happening. A definite thumbs up!
